1. I am happy that Tun Abdullah has explained that he did not write about how the nation would be bankrupt if he had followed my advice. It was the interviewer.
2. I hope he does not mind my clearing my name over what the interviewer wrote in “The Awakening”. Yes, I agree that I was a spendthrift Prime Minister who finished all the government money building the North South Expressway, Penang Bridge, West Port, KLIA, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and an assortment of others.
3. Had Tun Abdullah succeeded me earlier all these would be stopped to save Malaysia from bankruptcy. As it is, he managed to stop the crooked bridge and the railway double-tracking and electrification project.
4. The bridge would have cost just under 1 billion Ringgit. The cancellation cost the Government 200 million Ringgit in compensation and unfinished work.
5. The railway project from Johor Bahru to Padang Besar was going to cost 14 billion Ringgit – slightly more than 2 billion per year for six years. Fourteen billion Ringgit was saved. But then it was found necessary to build the electrified double track from Ipoh to Padang Besar. The cost is 12 billion Ringgit.
6. A contract was given to a foreign company to build the track from Seremban to Gemas. I don’t know what it cost. Looks like the 14 billion saved was spent on very much shorter tracks, about one-third in length.
7. Still there must have been a lot of money saved. The small jet I used was good only for the Deputy Prime Minister. A big jet was bought not through the usual channels but by some private individual. There was denial by the Government that the A320 was bought for the use by the Prime Minister. But the aircraft is even today used by the Prime Minister. Wonder why the deal was struck. Who really owns the aircraft? How much money has been saved by the Government from this deal?
8. Then there were these corridors to be developed. Each would cost 70 billion Ringgit. Then it is learnt that the allocation include private sector investments. Before Government budget is about how the Government will spend Government money. Under Tun Abdullah the Government budgets for the private sector to spend. But that’s allright because the figures look good.
9. However since none of the corridors took off, billions were saved.
10. It must have been a very rich Government which went for the 12th General Election. Sadly the people did not appreciate the billions that were saved. They rejected the Government party, giving 5 states and one federal territory to the opposition, and just a small majority to the thrifty party.
11. Just imagine how many billions more would be saved if I had stepped down earlier before building the North-South Highway, Penang Bridge, KLIA, West Port, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, the twin towers of Petronas and a host of other mega projects. We would be sitting on a mountain of Ringgits.

But the wonder of it all is that what one man, albeit a brilliant man of his time, with his Double Starred First in Law at Cambridge in 1947 can do in the days before the end of the Cold War in 1989 using just 19th century methods of trading within a 20th century facade of glimmering buildings. That Singapore in a space of just over 55 years was transformed from a sleepy colonial entreport to a place amongst the 20 Greats of the World by invitation. Singapore was also invited once by South Korea. This is the achievement of one man’s ambition for himself and his Nation. But what comes thereafter is a matter of serious conjecture by academics, historians and the like. But to achieve such giddy heights for a one street Nation can only be done by brainwashing of all and sundry, Malaysians were the first in the queue, with the finest tried out methods from superior foreign minds. How to swing all the naive and nubile minds to have a single mind-set of adulation for a set of brilliant Cambridge University results. This method has achieved much for materila gain. But the Man proposes, God disposes.
This actually crude method of brainwashing could only be applied to a country like Malaysia to bend the mind-sets to whom or which direction, the perpetrator planned to achieve in the first instance. And with success, a wider audience of the World’s best leaders is targetted for further brainwashing of a different kind. This definitely has proven to be fairly effective in the case of Singapore but then there are limits to this type of manipulation of the human mind.
It was alright as long as the World continues her way as had happened in the past. But with the sudden conclusion of the Cold War in 1989, all bets were off especially with Pax Americana of Globalisation, Free Trade and Human Rights and the advent of the Web a decade later. Singapore’s wherewithal in relation to the World was in a whirl and even 2 pieces of casino papers could only kick-start the ecomony for just 2 years. For the meritocratic society to miss out the beginning of events in 2007 and 2008 is a serious oversight which actually began in 1931 with the New Deal and the American economy shot up from 7th December 1941 to October 2008 giving credence to the Kondratieff Wave of old.
What is it that can sustain the position of Singapore to be invited to every round of the G20 deliberations all over the World ? This is a matter that no one can foretell because the fortituous situation of today is due to the will and ambition of one person. And whether this was all done to achieve this position in the near and far future depends on the ebb and flow of the present day World financial tsunamis because the 19th century style of trading and making money with harbours and the like will be out dated somewhat by the ingenuity of Humankind. Here lies the great question mark for the future of Singapore which has so far depended on the brilliance of just one person who achieved much in a world that was now far far away in the past. I do not see at all what we can learn from Singapore. Before October 2008, when everything was brainwashed and opaque with everyone kow-towing to the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 9 failed Policies for Singapore, I thought it was absurd to do so based on a single set of academic achievements. But time is the best exposer of all that is good and bad. And as always this has proven with the performance of academic individuals who produced a single great invention early on in the 20s and nothing at all thereafter. Singapore through the years and decades had without failed told the World of their vaunted meritocractic system. Malaysia did not. But since 2003, our home-grown detractors, cynics, vulgaristas, etc. have had a field day in having it their way until recently on heaping negatives at you. For their unbelievable eyes, here is are the lists of things which you did not do during your 22 years Administration :-
1. The brilliant Lee Kuan Yew’s 9 failed Policies for Singpapore.

iii) The 2 Child Family Policy.
iv) Humanity and Multiculturalism were not practised.

vi) Importation of key essentials, licences etc. on a selective basis.
vii) The Prime Minister was/is around from 1959 – 2013.
And within your powers during your 22 year Administration, you did not :-
1. Re-arrange the UN-Saddam Hussein Sanctions.
2. Re-arrange 2 oil exploration blocks
3. Parachute a PAP cadre into the Chief Editor post of the New Straits Times looking for low hanging fruits.
4. Lose Pulau Batu Putih in 2008 AND
5. Bought the shares of the Indonesian International Bank at top price from Temasek Singapore and Kookmin. The DAP now alleges Maybank will lose billions soon.
7. Shares sold and re-purchase, and shares sold out of the Government.
8. 25 Miles of steel rails rightfully belonging to the KTM
9. Nearly One Trillion Ringgits flowed out illicitly between 2003 and 2009.

1. An excellent Healthcare System as survey by Bloomberg.
2. The new Christians in their RM2 incorporated churches and other religions were permitted to operate freely without a Singapore-like Charities Commission. In their gratitude, these bongo bongo voodoo choral and dancing troupes go all out to politically to beat the BN as led by the UMNO with the 13 component parties.
3. Private educational colleges and universities were permitted to bloom.
4. A huge middle income group which provide employment to others were created – 750,000 Malay businesses alone when there was hardly any in 1970.
5. Full employment for the working people.
6. Highways interlace the land.
7. Light industries sprung up. The biggest is connected with the automotive industry.
8. Security was a given.
9. Privatisation provided hope for all to have upward mobility.
10. Towering buildings and developments to garner foreign exchange, new investments etc.
11. All Government Policies gave a sense of purpose and hope for all. There was no hidden purpose or motive.
12. And many many more to form the base for the next advancement for the benefit of all. ///

With all the failed policies of LKY that you have listed, and all the superb and successful polices of Tun, coupled with the tremendous natural resources of Malaysia (oil, palm, rubber, tin, bauxite, etc. etc.), Malaysia should not be much more developed than Singapore in terms of GDP per capita, and a first world country.
BTW, that US$108b loss by the SWF was paper loss at the trough of the financial crisis. The portfolio has more than recovered and instead of a loss, it is showing healthy profit.

1. The 1962 Water Agreement with Singapore which ended up in 2013, our beloved Malaysia did not even get the 2 sens worth but pays and pays (PAP) to deliver the free water to Singapore.

I am of the opinion that the aides involved were entirely responsible as we can discern in the case of every Prime Minister on both sides of the Causeway. You had only one aide that was loyal and creditable and reliable. The others were just fakes. Here is my list of how the aides did the distinguished great men in :-
1. The Tunku. He had good aides but the Chinese ones were just playboys and the whole lot out of date. The Tunku was a good man.
2. Tun Abdul Razak. He was also a great man who had the best aides of all. Most of them went on to be great in their own right.
3. Tun Hussein Onn. He was a fine gentleman and knew his role which kept him being cautious with aides and the like. But he like all our Prime Ministers was gracious to retire from power and money.
4. The Tun. I should know what is a good aide and what is a bad one. ONE GOOD AIDE IS WORTH A THOUSAND GOOD AIDES ! As a picture is worth a thousand words !
5. Tun Abdullah Badawi. A very good man as chosen by the Tun. But then it was alleged the aides turned up on the 4th Floor !
6. Our distinguished Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak. From the latest Blog today, I read the the Pemandu or whatever is driven by 9, yes 9, young Chinese who came from nowhere in the Malaysian firmament and are unqualified, uneducated and inexperienced in Malaysian public affairs and probably craft beautiful ‘ YES’ papers for the Boss. No wonder !
And the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew. A good and brilliant Prime Minister who had all those smart ‘yes’ craftsmen or aides with an axe to grind, around him who could not say ‘NO’ otherwise those 9 failed Policies would not have happened and he would really be the finest Prime Minister ever !

With a beautiful hindsight, a Monitoring Unit should be created in the Prime Minister’s Dept. to monitor the new owners of the ex-GLCs who should now be like Caesar’s wife beyond reproach in their new businesses and normalcy is the watchword.

I hope you forgive me for being long-winded on the subject of the GLCs. This subject as you are aware is linked to the very success of the Malays and Bumiputras in entrepreneurial flair and endeavour with a strong connection to the success of non-Malay enterprises as well because in business, no Man or Woman is an island ! Let us begin with history.
Our supporters of the GLCs always mentioned Singapore as their role model. This is false because it is like comparing chalk and cheese. We are a medium sized country with ample human and natural resources. Singapore has nothing and a trading entreport to begin with.
Its Government launched the Jurong Industrial Park in the late 1960s. Many of my friends including myself (a most modern Swiss biscuit factory now the Meiji) invested in it but found that the following were lacking i) as traders who have no gumption and staying power to be real industrialists ii) the Singaporean market place was small and was completely dominated by brands iii) industrial set-ups were not consonant with each other unlike Hong Kong. Eventually all these small factory businesses were overtaken either by Singapore Government owned entities or multi-nationals to fill the void of Singaporean industrialization.
In the case of our beloved Malaysia, we have hundreds of entrepreneurs who are will to take up this intangible thing known as business. We need to develop the private sector Malay and Bumiputra businesses so that the non-Malay businesses may move on together to greater heights in our quest to be a developed Nation by 2020. Government owned business is actually contretemps with the original thinking of privatizing Government entities to increase efficiency and faster delivery. Your thinking was proven to be correct but cataclysmic events soon overwhelmed the souls who were chosen for their tasks. But this blip in business endeavour is the prelude to greater things to come and my view is that the Government should have nothing to do with the GLCs and leave the whole lot to the private sector as follows :-
1. The Government returns the GLCs to their former owners if no law has been broken.
2. The Government sells off the GLCs to new Bumiputra owner and their local or foreign partners if any or both.
3. The Government sells off the GLCs to the Management and their local or foreign partners if any or both.
The cogent reasons are as follows :
1. The removal of feelings of jealousy amongst the Civil Service.
2. Accountability.
3. Why should the Government be involved in an area of development when the Private Sector can do just as well if not better.
3. Why should the Government makes money in the Private Sector in direct competition with the very people the Government is trying to create and promote ? The money made in the GLCs is very small compared with the utilisation of the released captial from the GLCs to improve the infrastructures for development and the collection of the increased revenues themselves.
4. Corruption is eliminated.
5. Singapore failed to turn wheeling dealing traders into industrialists and corporate leaders so the Government had to step in to fill the void. It is a fallacy to copy-cat Singapore which has VERY CLEAR OBJECTIVES IN HER MIND ! WE TOO HAVE VERY CLEAR OBJECTIVES BUT DEFINITELY GLCs making money for the Government with no accountability is NOT A MALAYSIAN DISH IN MALAYSIA’S CUISINE ! For the Government to carry billionand billions of ringgits for the benefit of a FEW with no accountability !
With the exception of Singapore which is exceptional, Malaysia is now doing something which is uncalled for outside a CRISIS !

This morning in the New Straits Times Wednesday 29th August 2013, ‘ Malaysia’s Healthcare Among the most efficient ‘ Malaysia was ranked 18th and the United States 46th. This only a minor accolade to your magnificent 22 year Administration as compare with your other ideas and achievements. And yet it seemed it was only yesterday, when all of us Rakyat were nearly forced to accept a diabolical Healthcare Scheme concocted by the Ministry of Health in 2011 under the guise of adopting the excellent United States Healthcare system to reduce costs and increase efficiency. This aborted Healthcare Scheme as proposed by the Government was a load of rubbish and I could not believe that you as our Prime Minister for 22 years left us in the lurch in healthcare terms. Independent surveys by Bloomberg have now proven that this is only your minor achievement for the Rakyat in your excellent record of achievements with no self-glorification. See how the sly and the cunning tried to take advantage of the Rakyat ! Without normalcy, the Government funds for healthcare would be wasted for self-serving purposes in view of the fact that our Rakyat including your goodself have an excellent chance of touching 100 ! It is time for the authorities to try to save at every turn of the coin. These are the very people, the authorities, who are paid to protect us and not sell us down river.
The 19 fervent TPPA negotiations is a case in point when I read that 750,000 Malay business persons petitioned the Government for justice and fair play. This sends a shudder down my spine as we are all aware that their extended families could number anything up to 10 per family which encompass a population of 7.50 millions. Besides, if each of these businesses just employ 2 persons, the total number of employees are 1.50 millions. Just to consider these 2 factors alone is 9 millions souls WHO DEPEND ON THE AUTHORITIES WHO ARE PAID TO PROTECT US WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF SOVEREIGNTY, NATIONAL INTEREST, SELF-ESTEEM. And we are not even talking about the non-Malays and the snow-ball effect which is difficult to fathom !
IT IS SO VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE BN AS LED BY THE UMNO WITH THE 13 COMPONENT PARTIES OBSERVES THE RULE OF LAW, IMPLEMENTS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT POLICIES, MAINTAINS A NORMAL AND FUNCTIONING BUREAUCRACY, ESCHEWS DOING BUSINESS WITH THE GLCs AND MAKING MONEY, AND FOCUS TO RULE US. There is nothing the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP and its cohorts can do apart from making a lot of loud noises and a nuisance of themselves until the next 14th General Elections. If we all remember, these folks could not even gain power in Putrajaya in 3 EASY STEPS in 1997, 2008 and 2013 with Billions at their disposal !

Long time me no comment here. Hated the way politics is polarizing this beloved nation of mine lately.
To this very day I curse Pak Lah’s decision to cancel the Jambatan Bengkok. The project has already been approved before you stepped down and we the rakyat was happy as this project would tremendously improve the water quality at the straits.
Anyway the stupid decision has passed and Singapore has almost completed its land reclamation project in Pengerang which actually is a backlash against the Jambatan Bengkok project although nobody will admit to it.
So the stupid decision by Pak Lah will always be remembered throughout history as a lasting testament of a weak and lame leader.
I would also like to point out the without the N-S highway our roads will be as advanced or even better than the roads in Indonesia and our airports will be on par as the ones in Cambodia.
Anyway I am very happy that Sejarah Tanah Melayu will be made a MUST PASS subject for SPM! Yeay I bet there will be many young upcoming gangsters Ah Bengs and Ah Mois and also amongst the Red Bean Army troopers now cursing their luck and trying to spin grandmother stories to oppose this great idea hahaha.
These people can go to hell and may I also again urge the government to implement a single school system to create a truly 1Malaysian race? Out with the SRJKs forever! These schools are the REAL culprits why this nation is polarized as it is today.
We have to learn from the Bruneians how to bestow citizenships to its people, and also learn from the Singaporeans how they sidelined the minority race there.

On the subject of the privatisation of KTMB.
I took the commuter from KL Sentral to Tg. Malim and it cost me (one way) only RM 7. And if you have the discount card it is only a paltry RM 3.50. When the guy at the ticket counter quoted me this price, my jaws just dropped. My god its so cheap.
No wonder KTMB has always been running with red ink in their books. I must say the new coaches are excellent, although the older ones leave a lot to be desired. Some of the air-conditioning are not working at all. With a packed coach on a hot day from KL to Seremban its anything but pleasant.
KTMB is a public service the government provides the commuting public. I must commend them on the very affordable fares. However, is it a sustainable financial operations? Must it be a subsidised public good just like the petrol, sugar, etc.? For how long can this continue?
Bringing KTMB private will either require the government to inject funds annually or that the fare needs to be raised to make the venture viable. This will be the conventional wisdom.
How about if the government makes a Blue Ocean paradigm shift in approach. Lets look at how HKMTR, the metro system in Hong Kong thrives when most other railway or Metro system finds it hard to breakeven.
In Hong Kong the HKMTR is given the right to develop the airspace above the station into tall commercial buildings and any adjacent plot of land still available. These commercial space are very profitable with the mass of people passing through the station and those companies which want to be above the station for travelling convenience. This model is especially effective in the very urban areas.
So in effect HKMTR is really a property developer whose is also providing the travelling links to their properties.
Besides KTMB, I believe RapidKL (and the other MRT lines) can also be modelled along these lines to make it a viable business venture.

Please allow me to give my 2 cents worth regarding the privatisation of MAS (Malaysian Airline System.
As we all understand it the main reason this proposal was tabled was to address its consistently poor financial performance over many Quarters and many FYs. Several change of managements teams did not seem to be able to address this unhealthy state of affairs.
So it goes that the only other option left, is to privatise MAS. Privatisation it would see could address this problem as it is believed that the management will be more focused on the bottom-line and will have a freer hand at tackling the internal problems such as efficient procurements practices, effective processes and staff or human capital resistance to change. It will be able to choose whom it deems fit and had the right experience and attribute and is merited to lead the organization out of the red and give the likes of Air Asia and SIA a run for their money.
Is going private really the only way to tackle these problems mentioned above? I think not. It has a lot to do with leadership. And getting the right leader with the right vision and the ability to move the people in MAS is a very important prerequisite. It does not matter if this Leader is from the Government or private sector or a foreigner.
From that leader he needs to assemble the right team to support his vision for MAS.
One way the PM can proceed to tackle this is by forming a task team mandated to look for the right person to lead MAS. The task team should comprise people with vast airline experience with a proven successful record, staff union representative (for the pilots, cabin crew, ground crew and administration), other stakeholders, government and the PM himself no less.
This is important as it important that the person chosen MUST have the unequivocal support of the majority if not all the stakeholders. It will make his job a lot easier and he can jump start straight down to solving the technical problems.
Some of the staff may have to be asked to swallow some bitter pills, but as they say No Pain No Gain…Right!

ALOR SETAR: The Kedah government has been assured by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) will not be approved if it is detrimental to the people in the state.
Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir informed the State Legislative Assembly sitting on Monday that the assurance was also given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said the direct effects of TPPA that could be derived not only by the exporters but also the people of Kedah as consumers generally were the vast opportunity due to the opening up of the market in terms of the choice of goods and services.
It was capable of opening up investment opportunities of high quality for the people of Kedah besides raising the quality of life of the people to prepare themselves for competition at the global level, he said when replying to a question from Datuk Ir Amiruddin Hamzah (PAS-Anak Bukit). – Bernama]
TPPA is a partnership agreement meaning we complement one another in a win win situation and not competing against each other in a cut throat competition. Our FELDA products would find bigger and easier markets. On the other hand we can source state of the art machineries and inventions to process our FELDA products and pine apples and so on. Let us be adventurous a little to open up off shore markets abroad. Let us not just condemn ourselves and allow ourselves be saddled with unsold proton cars and wallow in self pity like a child. Go out there and start selling.
TPPA IS A commitment of enthusiasm to trade, meaning exchange products, nothing sinister or detrimental to the trading countries, unless we sell radio active waste or heroine and ganja to one another.

Pada pendapat saya, Rosmah perlu mengurangkan aktivitinya walaupun dalam bentuk kebajikan supaya tidak nampak begitu menonjol melebihi suaminya.
Saya tidak bermaksud beliau tidak boleh langsung terlibat dalam aktiviti-aktiviti sosial tetapi berpada-padalah dan jangan melebihi PM.
Contoh yang terbaik yang harus diteladani oleh Rosmah ialah Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah sendiri yang menjalankan aktiviti yang berbentuk sederhana semasa Tun menjadi PM.
Apa yang saya sebutkan ini tidak bermakna saya setuju dengan tohmahan-tohmahan dan fitnah pembangkang seperti pembelian cincin berlian dan sebagainya.
Jika betul pun tohmahan tersebut, pada saya apa salahnya membeli berlian yang mahal jika seseorang itu mampu membelinya?
Perbuatan tersebut jika benar bagi saya bukan satu kesalahan jenayah mahupun berdosa jika kita mampu membelinya.
Bagaimanapun tidak semua masyarakat mempunyai persepsi yang sama seperti saya dan dalam dunia politik yang diceburi oleh suaminya tambah-tambah lagi dalam keadaan politik semasa sekarang, lebih baiklah isteri PM mengamalkan sikap low profile.
Cuba bayangkan jika PM tiada aktiviti pun dalam sehari, tetapi isterinya tiap-tiap hari ada aktiviti dalam surat khabar.
Ibarat seperti kain songket yang cantik dan indah tetapi kalau dipakai setiap hari akan jemu mata memandangnya.
Saya tidak membenci Najib mahupun Rosmah, tetapi mengasihani PM yang terpaksa melalui banyak cabaran dalam suasana politik semasa dan tindakan proaktif daripada isterinya akan dapat membantu mengurangkan lagi beban suaminya.
Berhubung Nazri dan Shahrizat termasuk juga Isa Samad, mereka ini sudah terlalu lama dalam politik dan tidak banyak membantu imej UMNO malah akan memburukkan lagi imej parti itu.
Oleh itu, sudah tiba masa mereka berundur dan memberi laluan kepada muka-muka baharu yang lebih bertenaga dengan wajah dan daya pemikiran yang baharu bagi membantu UMNO dalam PRU-14 nanti.
Pendapat 3 sen (harga yang dibayar oleh kerajaan Singapura bagi membeli 1,000 gelen air negara ini) (dan tanpa perlu membayar berjuta ringgit bagi mendapatkan pendapat dan nasihat politik daripada pakar asing) saya ini datang dari hati yang ikhlas yang bimbang terhadap nasib bangsa Melayu khususnya dan negara amnya.

It is really sad and unfortunate that Pak Lah did not share you ideas and aspirations when you handed him the reigns of leadership. You must have known so at the time. But as you mentioned there was a gentleman’s agreement between the two of you for Pak Lah to proceed with you initiated projects which we in progress after Pak Lah took over.
Pak Lah relegated on this agreement, right Tun.
However, the “Hikmah” found in this event is that it shows the sincerity and clean intentions that lies in Tun’s heart. There was no bad presumptions (buruk sangka) towards Pak Lah at that time. Its a strength and can also be seen as a weakness, depending on where you are looking at it.
Our Tun is pure of heart, a virtue highly regarded for All Muslims as exemplified by our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW. No one should doubt Tun’s sincerity and good intentions for this Country and ALL its people.
The same cannot be said of Lee Kuan Yew when he wiggles through to make his son the heir to the Singapore Throne. Especially, when it is very apparent this Lee Hsien Loong does not MERIT the position, with all the bad and failed policies he has introduced and for not being able to solve the problems the failed policies his father introduced in Singapore.
What a lot of BULL they are selling their Meritocracy.
So it goes that Anwar with his wife and daughter in tow and in line for the throne ala Lee Kuan Yew.
For those so smitten with DAP’s wholesale copying of Lee Kuan Yew’s PAP politics and policiesm it is proven beyond any reasonable doubt by Lim Kit Siang making his son Guan Eng heir to the throne and Karpal Singh making Gobind the same in line. You all better be ready for all the policies to be introduced to fail..it will not happen by the next GE but 10 to 15 years down the road as what is happening in Singapore. So to all the Malaysian Chinese and Indian DAP admirers who are swayed by DAP’s hard sell of the Singapore PAP policies, for the sake of your and your children’s future in this country please think deep and hard before your give away your liberty as the Singaporeans are be sold by their PAP leeders.

Through the months and years, I have observed your good Bloggers seemed to be flummoxed by the unhappy events which arose after your reitirement in 2003. I suggest to them to refer to i) the normal personal behaviour of your goodself for a life-time ii) all those eye-catching infra-structures are your ideas as implemented iii) within the context of sovereignty, national interest and self-esteem, resulting in peace, stability and prosperity with a large middle-income group together with full employment for all.

I think the issue here how malaysia can move forward by making Malaysian of all races progress in peace and harmony.
Our current leadership have done quite a good job to make the economy but then a lot improvement need to be done in term of capacity building,reduction of domestic debt,trade deficit,unemployment,high cost of living economic disparity between the have and the have not and also between races.What is more sickening,we are still divided by economic stigma parity.
I am afraid that with shrinking economic growth,and the lack progress in addresing economic cake,a lot of other issues creep in with danger.The issue of currency devaluation roared with vengeance,the corruption,PTTPN students load which come from EPF, have not been handle with greater vision.Other social issue such religion,gangterism,securities need to be tackled with swift action,
I think Pak Lah should come and help and not to make things more confusing.Other people looks very happy.The objective is to destroy steadily and firmly.
Current UMNO leadership have their job cut for them.Dumb those corrupt and bring in fresh leader with fresh ideas.Cooperate with opposition if there is what need to be done.Otherwise Museaum Negara will wait UMNO with eulogy written on the wall.

Tu la, kan saya dah kata, golongan kononnya bijak pandai agama kena mempunyai sikap terbuka, bukan tak boleh baca akhbar Harakah tetapi baca juga akhbar lain dan gunakan minda untuk menentukan berita mana yang sahih. Seperti hadis Nabi, ada yang sahih dan ada yang tidak.
Kalau sesuatu berita itu betul, terima dengan hati dan sikap terbuka, kalau tidak dan tanpa prejudis terhadap fahaman politik kita, tolak sesuatu berita itu.
Saya tidak hairan musato kata rasa okey sahaja negara kita kerana meminjam ‘term’ yang digunakan wajaperak,’ ulama typical’ di negara ini macam tu la nada mereka, asal dapat elaun, overtime selain gaji (kalau bekerja dengan kerajaan namun tidak bersyukur dan menyokong pembangkang) dan selera batin tercapai, yang lain tak nampak.
Kekotoran sampah secara fizikal di sekeliling rumah pegawai masjid dan di depan mata tidak nampak manakala kekotoran jiwa dalam badan seseorang makmum lebih-lebih lagi yang tidak menyokong pembangkang boleh nampak.
Cam na lah, golongan kononnya cerdik pandai agama khususnya yang propembangkang nak menubuhkan negara Islam dan memerintah negara atau pun mahu jadi pemerintah seperti kalifah al-rashidin, sedangkan surat khabar pun tak baca?
Setahu saya, kalifah-khalifah al-rashidin bukan sahaja berpengetahuan tinggi malah bijaksana dan adil dalam pemerintahan mereka.
Pemerintahan era albab Pak Lah pun tak berjaya dan tak kekal lama kerana kurang cerdik dan banyak tidur lena.

For Amin Tan. It was the Tunku who saved Lee Kuan Yew from the Communists fronted by Lim Chin Siong. LKY was in a dilemma and the British were uncertain how to deal with such a delicate situation just before Singapore’s merger with Malaya. In 1962, my relative Tan Sri C.C. Too was sent down to Singapore on a hush-hush meeting for 3 days with LKY and George Bogaars only. Tan Sri C. C. Too’s advice was the Operation Cold Storage which hauled in all the Leftists in the PAP and left room for LKY to have the power to this day. Lim Chin Siong did not go to America. After his release, he went to study law in London and I believe he died at a young age there. When Tan Sri C. C. Too retired he wrote a letter to LKY which he showed me, seeking some form of University recognition for his services after taking cognizance of the LLDs galore which LKY lavished on very senior Malaysian Civil Servants after their retirement. But there was no reply. LKY was at the famous Raffles College, Singapore with Tan Sri C. C. Too and our distinguished Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad attended later as part of the renown King Edward Vii Medical College. These undergraduates provided all the political leadership of independent Malaya and Singapore to this day. According to my elder sister, who was there, nascent Malayan nationalism were very much in evidence in those early days.

Lim Chin Siong was the chairman of Socialist Party and Lee Kuan Yew was the secretary. Lim chin siong was more popular and a better Hokkien public speaker in Singapore’s mainly Chinese population. But Lee Kuan Yew was English educated and better connected with the British who had the police and military muscle to arrest Lim Chin Siong. Lee Kuan Yew had the British guns and Lim Chin Siong had the Chinese voters. Voters eventually lost to the barrel of the gun in the eventual power game. Lim Chin Siong was arrested by Lee Kuan Yew under ISA for life without trial and banished , not to St Helena, but to Sentosa island. The last I heard He was exiled to America and was never to return.

For ChuPaCheah and meijian1990 and the discerning Blogger interested in our brand of Malaysian democracy, I wish to point out that the dysfunctional Blue KMT MCA has now turned RED whilst the sleepy Rip van Winkle Socialist Democrat Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP has turned BLUE (via LKY their spiritual founder and Washington DC). As the good Tun has mentioned a week is a long time in our Malaysian Democratic Politics.
When the dysfunctional KMT MCA was BLUE, this was what the leadership could garner in assets since 1949. The list is not in chronological order.
1. This leader was grinning from ear to ear in the lst Class cabin of the SIA carrying his Samsonite briefcase emblazoned with the words in white ‘YB………Selangor State Executive Councillor.’ My eyes nearly dropped out. I believed our Federal Customs gave him a good send-off.
2. Another skillful leader could remit Singapore Dollars 100 Millions from Singapore to Hong Kong after just 6 years in politics.
3. But this leader was caught having sticky fingers with his Ministry’s share allotments.
4. Another leader was caught padding up a construction contract and was reputed to own a substantial estate.
5. This leader walloped 2 monopolies whilst in office together with at least 4 pieces of the best HMS properties, a luscious construction contract and a high density project. And he was running his family business from his bedroom.
6. Another leader could garner the very best properties en mass in Kuala Lumpur and London.
7. A leader told me he could make at least RM 20 Millions whilst sitting in his air-conditioned office.
8. This leader already had 2 monopolies before becoming a leader and could expand and consolidate his business empire thereon.
9. But this leader even though he had a monopoly, his properties were mismanaged by his proxies.
10. The British lost out to this leader who grabbed their properties and called them his own.
11. This imprudent leader told all and sundry that 2 Governments owed him and one had already fulfilled his desires. I would have thought his duty is first and foremost to our beloved Yang Di Pertuan Agong of Malaysia !
12. At a fund raising function, this leader shouted at the top of his voice, ‘ We fight them because they call us names.’ Later, an up-market residents associaiton in the area in which he lived sought his help, he was no where to be found. But I saw him and his family strolling happily in a Mall just before the 5 May General Elections.
13. One leader had a monopoly to supply spare parts.
14. A chemical monopoly was garnered by this astute leader.
15. And not the last of all, this leader had a monopoly which collapsed after his patron retired.
AND YET THE CHINESE, THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE NOT THOSE IN BLUE OR RED, ARE LEFT TO SORT OUT THEIR VITAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE OTHER COMMUNITIES AND WHAT SHOULD BE A NON-ISSUE, THE MANDARIN LANGUAGE.

Addendum to my comment for ChuPaCheah and meijian1990. Even when the good Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad lived normally throughout his 22 Year Administration with his famous note-book, the number of supporters were 100 thick at all times. And so it is with those who came after him, these people appeared as if by magic. It took the Tun’s discipline character and training to lessen the mistakes and damage created by these clever and crafty ‘yes’ men and women. Just look at the damage these crafty ‘yes’ men and women done by them in the deep South. If a Prime Minisster is not careful like the good Tun and his predecessors, especially the wonderful Malaysia handed over on a plate for the successors to govern and rule, time and money just fly away like nobody’s business as we Malaysians say !!!

In a short summary of Malaysian politics and its many pitfalls which beset us now, it is best to reflect on its history, the past, the present and the future. I will briefly state my own view of the present conundrum concerning the Chinese, the Malaysian Chinese why they are all up a greasy pole ?
1. From 2003, all manner of attacks were directed at Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. This grew in intensity after 2008 when it was realised by the Opposition that the Tun is a great leader of men and women. Words like racist, and other words which are unmentionable were hurled at him. As if everything which did not seem to be right was heaped on him.
2. THE FACT IS THAT THE MCA WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BALANCING FACTOR FROM 1957 DID NOT DO THEIR ALLOTTED JOB AT ALL. The leadership was more interested in material gain than philosophical theories. The creation of logistics back-up for a major political party never took place. With all the money making activities by the previous MCA leadership, no one did any forward planning for the future which takes decades to achieve. AS LONG AS UMNO WAS OK MCA WAS OK. Then, after 2003, the UMNO lost the KEY to the traditional rule over our beloved Malaysia. The HOLLOWNESS AND FAKE IMAGE OF THE MCA WAS EXPOSED FOR ALL TO SEE even with their 3,500 branches.
3. The KONGSI COMPACT which has been mentioned is only one of the many which can only be hammered out right at the top between different sets of leadership. IF THE MCA LEADERSHIP HAVE ONLY IDEAS TO MAKE MONEY, do not BLAME OTHERS ESPECIALLY THE UMNO LEADERSHIP FOR NEGLECTING THE NEEDS OF THE CHINESE. To run a major political party successfully, a huge army of professional staff is required – not just those who speaks Mandarin and read the Sin Chew Jit Poh. Any one who knows 1,000 Chinese characters can do so.
4. The NEGLECT BY THE MCA LEADERSHIP WHICH WAS UN-QUALIFIED, UNEDUCATED AND INEXPERIENCED IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS THROUGH THE DECADES left themselves with nothing substantive to back them up in vital negotiations if any was ever held. LEADING TO THE DIACHOTOMY OF INTER-COMMUNAL RELATIONSHIPS AND A LANGUAGE, THE MANDARIN LANGUAGE WHICH SHOULD NOT BE POLITICISED !
5. It is a tough job being a politician. NOW IT IS NOT JUST THE GLIB OF THE TONGUE OR A QUICK TURN OF THE MIND to be one. This is 19th century stuff. If properly practised, POLITICS IS A NOBLE PROFESSION.
6. ON THE BN POWER STRUCTURE, it is absurd to blame the UMNO WHICH MEANS THE UNITED MALAY NATIONAL ORGANISATION FOR THE UNHAPPINESS OF THE CHINESE, THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE. IT IS THE MCA WHICH SHOULD TAKE THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY AS THE LEADERSHIP WAS MORE THAN FULLY PAID TO DO THIS ONEROUS JOB which was neglected since 1957.
6. THE DE-TRIBALIZATION OF THE CHINESE, THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE LEAD TO MORE CONFUSED AND UNHAPPY MENTAL STATE OF THESE PEOPLE. AND ADDED TO THIS, THE DOWNTURN OF THE ECONOMY FROM 2003 COMPOUNDED THEIR FEELING OF FRUSTRATION AND ANGST. On top of all these, the MCA was dysfunctional and the goodies which used to flow down the slippery slope of the power pyramid were SEEN TO DEFY GRAVITY BY FLOWING TO THE APEX. We really have a heady inflammable mix.
7. The sly and cunning began to exploit the situation since 2003 but did not succeed. BECAUSE THEY WERE EVEN MORE UNQUALIFIED, UNEDUCATED AND INEXPERIENCED IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS THAN THOSE THEY WISH TO TOPPLE ! They could not even gain P0WER IN 3 EASY STEPS from 1997 -2913. So much so the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 9 failed Policies for Singapore wrote a book recently to urge the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP to leave their dysfunctional troika relationship and maybe to join the BN.
7. History will tell us that whichever way we toss the dice, the RED MCA IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LACK OF PERFORMANCE AND DELIVERY IN ALL THESE YEARS SINCE 1957 due to their well-known self-serving interests.
8. Of course, the leadership of the BN as led by the UMNO with the 13 component parties from 1957 have made mistakes too. What saved us was the adherence to the First Principles of Administration which was left to us AND THE BOUNTIFUL HUMAN AND NATURAL RESOURCES OF THIS LAND.
9. HOW TO REVERT TO THOSE WONDERFUL YEARS AGAIN ? JUST WORK, LIVE, EAT AND SLEEP NORMALLY. Do not try to reach for the Sun like Icarus or our brilliant neighbour.

Musato, kalau tidak silap saya bukan mudah Pak Lah nak meletak jawatan sebagai PM dan beliau mahu memerintah setahun lagi sebelum tarikh persaraan beliau yang sebenar, itu pun setelah didesak oleh Muhyiddin.
Desakan Muhyiddin ini atas alasan UMNO tiada masa yang cukup untuk memulihkan semula imejnya yang merundum di bawah Pak Lah untuk menghadapi PRU-13.
Dan desakan Muhyiddin ini menyebabkan Pak Lah melenting dan menuduh beliau (Muhyiddin) tak sabar nak jadi TPM.
Kalau sdra baca surat khabar selain Harakah dan portal-portal berita pembangkang, sdra akan dapat membaca kemarahan Pak Lah ini terhadap Muhyiddin pada saat-saat akhir pemerintahannya sebagai PM.
Oleh itu, jangan disebabkan kita taksub dengan seseorang itu, kita membuat andaian sesuka hati kita sendiri memuja quote “bukan sembarangan jiwa” seseorang pemimpin yang kita sanjung itu.

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP)
1. TPP negotiators are secretive so much so other government officials and the public are left clueless.
2. TPP Open Day was held on August 1, 2013. Despite the name, the event was not informative. The public would not be able to give value-adding feedback without adequate information.
3. I have read responses to your posting on the TPP; both on your blog and your facebook. There were a number of responses from MITI officers. But those responses were rather capricious.
Threshold Values for Government Procurement
4. We know that there is Government Procurement chapter in the TPP Agreement. Under this chapter, foreign companies are allowed to bid for government works. However, they are not permitted to bid for works below the specified threshold values.
5. Threshold values may be set in categories (goods, services and construction) to safeguard our policy in grooming the Malay/Bumiputera entrepreneurs. With the participation of Malay/Bumiputera in businesses, we increase the country’s economic potential; just like allowing women to actively engage in both white collar and blue collar workforce.
6. I do not know the threshold amounts being negotiated. Nor do I know whether there are supplemental conditions tabled by the negotiators.
7. However, we should be concerned with two factors when negotiating the threshold values. These factors are inflation and Special Drawing Rights (SDR).
Inflation
8. Over time, the value of money decreases. For 30 sen, in the 1980s, one could buy a ‘roti canai’. Today, the same amount of money does not permit one to have the same ‘roti canai’.
9. Similarly, a value set decades ago is now not as meaningful as it was. The price of our water sold to Singapore is exemplary. 3 sen per 1,000 gallons is now nonsensical.
10. In the case of TPP, if there is no adjustment clause pertaining to the threshold values, the intention to help the Malays/Bumiputeras will be hampered. Future procurements will be too small to groom them, rendering Malay/Bumiputera policy ineffective.
* Certain quarters say the New Economic Policy (NEP) formed to help the above group was already ineffective. Thus, they question why make another one. They must understand that the NEP was not a failure. There was progress but it was slow.
The target of 30% Malay/Bumiputera participation in the economy was not achieved in time mainly due to the unwillingness of private sector (dominated by the Chinese) to share the same goal. Diverting from this fact, some blame the practice of cronyism and nepotism in the government procurement.
We must bear in mind, although skewing the distribution of works, cronyism and nepotism did not deviate from giving works to the Malays/Bumiputeras. The works were still given to these people. This in fact contributed towards increasing the share of Malays/Bumiputeras in the economic pie. To say cronyism and nepotism as the reason for slow NEP progress is incorrect.
The reason for the slow progress remains lack of cooperation from the private sector.
11. I have looked at Chapter 11: Government Procurement of the initial TPP Agreement – available at http://www.fta.gov.sg/tpfta/p3+authentic+trans-pacific+sep+text+english_v1.pdf. There is no inflation adjustment clause.
12. There should be an inflation adjustment clause in the TPP Agreement like the one in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). See Para 1(c), Chapter 10: Government Procurement of NAFTA – available at http://www.worldtradelaw.net/nafta/chap-10.pdf.

13. Under the TPP, the threshold values for government procurement allotted to the Malays/Bumiputeras are set in terms of Special Drawing Rights (SDR). SDR is a basket of US Dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen and Pound Sterling. Although revised periodically by the IMF, the currency composition of this basket has been the same since 1999.
14. These currencies are subject to interventions and manipulations even by the governments who preach free market. In September 1985, the US, the UK, Japan, West Germany and France signed Plaza Accord to devalue the US Dollar. In recent years, Quantitative Easing (QE) caused the US Dollar to depreciate.
15. Currently, SDR1 is equivalent to RM5. A threshold of SDR100,000 for example, allows the government to allocate works below RM500,000 to Malay/Bumiputera contractors. But when SDR is weak against RM, the value of work allocated to those contractors becomes smaller.
16. Say SDR value against RM drops and SDR1 is equivalent to RM3.50. A threshold of SDR100,000 now allows the government to allocate works below RM350,000. Not RM500,000 anymore.
17. To avoid being exposed to such volatility, the threshold values should be set in RM, not SDR.

For those Malaysian Bloggers who are so comfy due to the years of good living as provided by the BN as led by the UMNO with the 13 component parties since 1957 ! The red hot news is the report in http//www.tremeritus.com/2013/08/22/prc-cargo-ship-opens-new-route-to-eu-bypassing-sg/ ‘PRC cargo ship opens new route to EU bypassing SG’. On 8th August 2013, a COSCO freighter left Dalian for Rotterdam using the North East Passage via Siberia and the Arctic for the first time. There is a saving of 12 to 15 days during the 4 months in summer when this passage is navigable. This will save the Chinese exporters millions in lower fuel costs and lower operating costs. In 2010, 4 ships used the Northeast Passage, in 2012, 46. By 2020, it is estimated 15 percent of Chinese export trade could use the Arctic route. Last year, this trade with the EU was worth $550 Billions. It is unfortunate to note this is another Sword of Damocles which is waiting to drop on Singapore in the years to come. Besides, there is the Chinese Myanmar sea port facing the Bay of Bengal which is connected by a land route to Western China. And a newly developed overland rail route through Sinkiang via a Central Asian State to Poland and the EU. If China uses the Northeast Passage successfully, all countries East of India will do the same. And whither the Singapore Harbour as ruled by the PSA during the 4 summer months in a year ?
The vicissitudes now faced by Singapore are beginning to bite, hence her urgency to resolve these foreseen problems at whatever the cost and hopefully not at our beloved Malaysia’s expense.
The vicissitudes :-
1. Pax America’s Policy of Free Trade, Globalization, and Human Rights after the Cold War 1948-1989.
2. The World of the Net. Even with 2 casino licences which kicked start the economy for 2 years, the Singaporean economy slumped back to GDP of 3.5% before inflation by 2013 !
3. The opening up of the Northeast Passage on 8th August 2013 by the Chinese which will have a unending deleterious effect on the Port operations of Singapore, an important contributor to the GDP !

2. Singapore becomes a Crown Colony again like Bermuda, Caymans, Virgin Islands, Grenada etc. At least as it is said that at the end of the day, we have the King of Spades, of Diamonds, of Hearts, of Clubs and the King of England !
3. Re-merge with Malaysia again. An ancient advised that it is bad for a good horse to return to old pastures.
4. Singapore remains status quo. With the end of the Cold War and America’s promotion of free trade, globalisation and human rights, all these worked to the disadvantaged of Singapore. The luscious and profitable world of the Cold War ended overnight and subsumed by the Net and all its benefits. The fizz of 7%+ GDP went into a tali-spin by the 21st Century and with the utmost of efforts in a tumultous world, the best is estimated to be 3.5% without inflation. FOR SINGAPORE THERE IS NOW A HUGE YAWNING GAP BETWEEN REALITY AND CENTRAL PLANNING. This is the vital reason that Singapore has and is forced to look into all sorts of avenue to SURVIVE AS A VIABLE STATE even with all the free water now paid for by our beloved Malaysia. When you stepped down Tun, I seriously thought that I’m going to have better PM than you. After 10 years since you stepped down, I was made convinced that none of your successor is a good match. With DS Najib around the economy seemed to pick up a little bit better than Pak Lah. But the morale of the people is at it’s lowest point. He inherited a weak Government from Pak Lah while Pak Lah weakened the strong Government he inherited from you. As for Anwar Ibrahim, except for creating chaos, division and bahasa baku, nothing much I can recall about him. Wonder what makes him so special to you last time including Pak Lah.
I read the collection of your previous speeches. Frankly, I was amazed. It was like your thinking is ahead of your time. Today you have proven a lot of things that your are correct in many ways. Even today, there are so many people having problem understanding your ideas such as privatisation and modernisation of country’s infrastructure. All that they know is that Government should not spend any money while theoretically, it should be otherwise. Privatisation proved that it improves efficiency and generates more income instead of increase in Government budget every year. MAS should do the same because a lot of people inside had becoming too complacence they started to work like Government servant.
I despise cheap slogan people like to utter nowadays ‘Rakyat tidak lagi bodoh’ and some sort. Because when we start feeling that we are smart automatically we will stop learning new things, becoming more complacence and eventually become stupid ourselves.
There are still a lot more we need to learn compare to what we’ve learned because there is not much difference from being fooled and stupid.

Pak Lah membuka ruang kepada kaum lain untuk menuntut perkara-perkara yang melampau batas sehingga ada tuntutan yang dibuat oleh kaum lain bertentangan dengan apa yang telah termaktub dalam perlembagaan negara.
Selain itu, peraturan dan undang-undang negara mula longgar di bawah Pak Lah dan keadaan ini berlarutan hingga ke pentadbiran Najib dan dapat kita saksikan hari ini apabila kes-kes jenayah berat seperti membunuh dengan menggunakan senjata api menjadi-jadi dan mula bermaharajalela.
Sekarang gengster dipuja menjadi hero manakala anggota-anggota pasukan keselamatan digambarkan oleh portal-portal berita pembangkang sebagai samseng.
Ada seorang bekas menteri undang-undang semasa pemerintahan Pak Lah sanggup menulis buku setebal 251 muka surat bertajuk ‘Ampun Tuan Zaid’ mengenai pentingnya raja-raja Melayu dan pemimpin politik mematuhi perlembagaan negara iaitu raja berperlembagaan.
Penulis buku ini juga menulis mengenai pentingnya kedua-dua institusi ini menghormati peraturan atau convention yang telah digariskan dalam perlembagaan negara.
Malangnya, apabila pembangkang kalah dalam PRU-13 lalu, penulis ini membelakangkan apa yang diperjuangkannya iaitu meminta Yang di-Pertuan Agong supaya tidak memilih Najib sebagai PM walaupun bertentangan dengan convention yang ditulisnya dalam buku tersebut.
Beginilah sikap orang Melayu kita yang cakap tidak serupa bikin, asalkan kepentingan politik dan diri sendiri serta nafsunya tercapai.
Pemimpin politik Melayu seperti ini yang banyak di negara ini, tidak sedar diri setelah menjadi kaya-raya di bawah sistem yang membolehkannya menjadi kaya dalam hidupnya.
Dan kini, pemimpin ini cuba menafikan pula hak Melayu lain untuk berjaya sepertinya dengan mempertikaikan sistem yang selama ini memberi rahmat kepadanya.
Di bawah Pak Lah atas nasihat bekas menteri ini berjuta-juta ringgit telah diberikan sebagai pampasan kononnya untuk menebus kesalahan yang dibuat oleh pentadbiran terdahulu dan mahu berlaku adil kepada bekas-bekas hakim yang melakukan kesalahan melanggar peraturan kerja.
Ada antara hakim-hakim tersebut sudah meninggal dan ada seorang daripada hakim itu tidakpun mempunyai anak kecuali anak tiri yang sudah tua dan mungkin tidak pernah tinggal dengan bapa tiri mereka.
Alangkah bertuahnya anak-anak tiri hakim ini mendapat berjuta-juta ringgit tanpa sebab hasil daripada duit cukai pendapatan orang ramai?
Alangkah baiknya jika wang pampasan berjuta-juta ringgit ini dibelanjakan untuk membantu rumah-rumah anak yatim berbilang bangsa di negara ini?
Tun, saya lihat Najib pun seolah-olah ada persamaan dengan Pak Lah dalam urusan pentadbirannya sejak akhir-akhir ini.
Mengapa Najib perlu untuk memikat hati orang luar negara dengan memansuhkan ISA, Ordinan Darurat dan sebagainya, saya tidak tahu.
Mengapa kita perlu mengikut dasar negara asing dan luar negara termasuk dari segi hak kemanusiaan, kebebasan bersuara dan sebagainya sedangkan negara kita berbeza dengan negara-negara tersebut kerana kita memiliki penduduk berbilang bangsa?
Dalam hubungan ini, kita terpaksa mengakui kebijaksanaan pemimpin Singapura mengekalkan ISA seperti kata mereka bahawa “kami masih perlukan ISA”.
Tun, saya tertarik dengan dakwaan Pak Lah bahawa projek-projek mega Tun akan menyebabkan negara mengalami defisit yang tinggi dan menjadi alasan mengapa beliau menghentikan projek-projek tersebut.
Bagaimanapun pada masa yang sama, beliau juga mengusahakan beberapa projek ekonomi berskala besar mengikut zon di negara ini yang juga menelan belanja yang besar.
Dan lebih menarik apabila beliau bersara, beliau mahu projek-projek yang telah diusahakannya di bawah pentadbirannya diteruskan oleh pentadbiran Najib.
Alangkah lucunya perkara ini, iaitu beliau mahu berjimat cermat dengan perbelanjaan negara tetapi pada masa yang sama juga mengusahakan projek berskala besar yang menelan belanja berbilion ringgit?
Dan beliau tidak mahu meneruskan projek yang diilhamkan oleh Tun tetapi pada masa sama mahu projek yang diusahakannya diteruskan di bawah penggantinya, Najib.

Oleh itu, pembaca masa kini lebih berpengetahuan untik menilai apa-apa yang dibaca. Saya juga ingin menyentuh tentang cadangan Tun mengenai penswastaan MAS, saya bersetuju dengan cadangan Tun, kerana Kerajaan perlu ambil perhatian tentang hala tuju MAS. Ini lah satu Syarikat yang boleh rakyat Malaysia am nya boleh melibatkan diri dalam industri penerbangan dan jika Syarikat ini lumpuh, amat besar kehilangan untuk Negara. Penasihat MAS juga tidak dapat membantu dalam membaikpulih Syarikat ini, oleh itu, perlu ada perubahan dalam pengurusan MAS ini. Thai, Indonesia, Vietnam dan Kambodia masing2 memperolehi keuntungan pada 3 tahun kebelakangan ini, mengapa MAS tidak. Saya memang setuju sangat bahawa Pak Lah bukan sahaja tidak pandai menbalas budi tetapi mengkhianati jasa2 Tun Dr Mahathir. Adalah lebih mulia bagi Tun Dr Mahathir tidak tuntut pembalasan tetapi memaafkan saja Pak Lah. Begitu juga Rasulullah membenarkan pelembing kulit hitam Habsah(Ethiopia) yang bernama Washi yang membunuh Saidina Hamzah di Uhud, memeluk islam dan memaafkannya.
Lagi pun perpatah Inggeris berkata ‘never flog a dead horse’

During the recently concluded Hari Raya Aidil Fitri,thousand upon thousand’s commuter have not been able to commute to Padang Besar via KTMB.This is because Abdullah ( Tun? ) have seen it fit not, not to proceed with what Tun Dr Mahathir have agreed upon for rakyat via the tender..Note the word rakyat..
Suddenly, with the flash of inspiration..later..very much later..Abdullah ( ? Tun ) have realized that he can save bilion upon billion of ringgit by commencing the stalled project.Of how he managed to save billion upon billion ringgit I, being very much short of intelligence could not fathom…:)
Not only very much maligned rakyat people of the masses and the masses of people have been denied the untimely project we have been duped to that..opss sorry..let me rephrase that..We have been poorly informed that it is okay if the project were delayed..There is no overhead cost ( er..what the hell this mean?..) no nothing whatsoever burden for rakyat.
You can poll the Malaysian that were denied..opss..sorry again..Malaysian that use the Tambak Johor daily that that were fine and okay ( AHEM !! ) without the crooked bridge..

1. I am happy that Tun Abdullah has explained that he did not write about how the nation would be bankrupt if he had followed my advice. It was the interviewer.
2. I hope he does not mind my clearing my name over what the interviewer wrote in “The Awakening”. Yes, I agree that I was a spendthrift Prime Minister who finished all the government money building the North South Expressway, Penang Bridge, West Port, KLIA, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and an assortment of others.
3. Had Tun Abdullah succeeded me earlier all these would be stopped to save Malaysia from bankruptcy. As it is, he managed to stop the crooked bridge and the railway double-tracking and electrification project.]

As a citizen under your sterling Prime Ministership, I wish to refute and rebuke the misplaced and mischievous accusation that the many infrastructure such as North South expressway, Penang Bridge, West port, KLIA, PUTRAJAYA, Cyberjaya were wasteful and mistakes that can bankrupt the nation. On the contrary, I consider the projects built under your tenure were superb, visionary, necessary and timely. In fact, the projects were undertaken especially the North South expressway in the nick of time when recession was about to set in. North South Expressway not only created jobs from direct investment , but the multiplier effects too created four times increase in income among the population. These infrastructure are the valuable assets of our nation. As the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir was a workaholic, responsible, astute, courageous, wise and far sighted.
On the other hand, Tun Abdullah Badawi during his time as the Prime Minister of Malaysia was the subject of joke as the sleeping PM, although I find him to be a good man. He was selected and groomed by Tun Dr Mahathir to take over the Prime Ministership based mainly on his good morality as compared to the infamous sodomy scandal beset the nation preceded him. Unfortunately, Tun Abdullah was not able to handle complicated situation and made costly, strategic and serious mistakes causing the incumbent to lose unprecedented 5 states in PRU 12 in March 2008. The unforgiveable mistake was the huge hike in patrol price from rm1.40 to rm2.70. This single act of price increase brought about untold suffering to the population. However, being a good man he tried to compensate(some thing like payment of fidiah) the pain of the rakyat by giving vehicle subsidies of rm500 per vehicle. Another huge mistake was his kindness and conciliatory nature towards Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. That was his ultimate undoing.
Tun Dr Mahathir is of totally different class altogether if compared to his mild former deputy, Tun Abdullah Bedawi. Tun Dr Mahathir should ignore the insult of the subject of the current posting and refrain from hitting back at the sitting duck Pak Lah. This is clearly planted and manipulated by the Opposition to undermine and destabilise Tun Dr Mahathir. Tun Dr Mahathir is seen to be a stumbling block for the ambitious Opposition to capture Putrajaya. Therefore, this preposterous and uncalled for insult of Tun Dr Mahathir’s premiership. The Opposition has run out of ideas and now they resorted to the weakest link, Pak Lah, to hit at the government.

I need our rocket scientist from Singapore who worked out that 1962 Water Agreement with Singapore that Malaysia now actually makes money. My maths is very poor due to the fact I did my schooling just after the end of World War 2 on 15 August 1945.
It is this. From your figures, the cost of the crooked bridge = RM 1 Billion + the cost of double tracking form Johor Baru to Padang Besar = RM 14 Billions. Total Cost = RM 15 Billions. We have the crooked bridge and the 400 miles of double track railway.
But with what eventually panned out, cancellation of the crooked bridge = RM 200 Millions + the 100 miles of double track railway = RM 12 Billions. Total expenditure by the Government = RM 12.2 Billions.
Yes ! There was a saving of RM 1.8 Billions for cancelling the crooked bridge and building just 100 miles of the double track railway from Ipoh to Padang Besar. THIS IS THE SAME THINKING ON THE TPPA BY COMMITTED MINOR OFFICIALS WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT THE HUGE TRILLION US DOLLAR MARKET FOR OUR GOODS WHEN WE HAVE NOTHING TO SELL EVEN FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS !
We certainly need that rocket scientist from Singapore who could walk on water in the 1962 Water Agreement with Singapore, to work out this new and stimulating Malaysian rationale – less is more or is it more is less ?

Itu lah, lain kali apabila nak kan sesuatu benda, kenalah ukur baju dibadan sendiri. Kalau tak ada skills to do the job, don’t do it lah! Hopefully KJ pun sedar ttng pepatah ni.
