1. I’ve been a reader for a year now and just registered myself. I just want to tell you that I’ve enjoyed your writing on politics, sir.

2. Clarification:

   The information posted earlier was from a website but the report is a fair summary of what took place during that time.

   Hotel Properties Ltd (HPL) could have been renamed without disturbing the acronym, if it were renamed Harry Pays Less.

3. For Mubarakchan:

   The Hotel Properties Limited episode that sparked off a political storm in Singapore in 1996 has been buried alive by the PAP. But its ghost will continue to haunt those involved.

   It all started when the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) censured a publicly listed property development company called Hotel Property Ltd (HPL) for not seeking shareholders’ approval for the sale of some of its condominium developments at a discount price.

   Dr Lee Suan Yew, Lee Kuan Yew’s younger brother, was on the board of directors of the company. He had purchased a unit in a condominium project developed by HPL called Nassim Jade.

   Shareholders of HPL had been grumbling about the way business was conducted in the company especially when it came to dealings with the Lee family. Many of the shareholders were waiting to buy units at the said project. When the launch of the property never came to pass, the shareholders saw red and demanded an explanation.

   The stock exchange authorities quickly announced that HPL had breached regulations. One day later, Lee Kuan Yew and his son, Lee Hsien Loong, publicly revealed that they too had bought HPL condominiums. The story made headlines and started tongues wagging. The story was then traced back to one Ong Beng Seng, a property tycoon in Singapore, and Managing Director of HPL.

   Ong had developed two condominium projects at the choiciest districts of Singapore. One was the abovementioned Nassim Jade situated where opulent and expansive embassies and mansions were located around Nassim Road. The other, Scotts 28, was at the heart of Singapore’s shopping and tourist district Scotts Road. Both projects consisted of condominum apartments valued at millions of dollars per unit before the property slump.

   More red faces

   It was also revealed that not only had Lee Kuan Yew, his brother and his son purchased these apartments, they were offered substantial discounts to boot. The apartments were due to be put on sale on the open market on 17 April 1995. Three days before the official launch, HPL conducted a “soft launch” where a select group of potential customers were invited to have first go at the apartments. This was not exactly an unheard of practice amongst property developers. The problem was that because HPL was a publicly listed company, it had shareholders to account to. Rules under the SES Manual Listing stated that approval had to be sought for transactions involving “connected persons” of the company involved and those persons’ associates. The HPL did not seek the permission of its shareholders. Suan Yew, Lee’s brother, was a non-executive director of the company.

   At the soft launch, Madam Kwa Geok Choo, chose an apartment to buy. She was quoted a price of $3,578,260 (or $1,583 per square foot) for the apartment. This was a seven percent discount on the list price. Buyers at soft launches are usually given only a five percent discount.

   Later, Kwa Geok Choo contacted her son, Hsien Loong, and told him of the Nassim Jade apartments upon which he called Aunty Pamelia Lee, wife of Uncle Suan Yew, and said that he and his wife, Ho Ching, were interested in buying the property as well. Aunty Pamelia then later came back to her nephew and offered him an apartment for $3,645,100 a discount of 12 per cent or $437,412 on the asking price. The Deputy Prime Minister accepted the offer.

   This was not all. On the Scotts 28 condiminiums, similar offers and purchases were made. Lee Kuan Yew and son bought two more units and paid $2,791,500 and $2,776,400 respectively for them, each bagging a five percent discount.

   All in all, Lee Kuan Yew received from HPL a total of $416,252 whilst Lee Junior got $643,185 in discounts. All the purchases amounted to more than $10 million and were carried out without mortgages and loans.

   It must be remembered that all this while, decisions of sales and the discounts were carried out at the directors’ level which involved Lee Suan Yew. None of the shareholders nor the SES had the slightest idea of what was going on.

   And yet, this was just the tip of the iceberg.

   It was later found out that Lee Kuan Yew’s entire family was in on the purchases. Daughter Lee Wei Ling, a medical doctor in a government hospital; sister Lee Kim Mon; and his two other brothers Freddy and Dennis; Kwa Kim Li, a niece of Lee; and Gloria Lee, Lee’s sister in law, all bought the condos at hefty discounts. Wei Ling bought two apartments at Nassim Jade and was reported to have sold one off for a tidy profit. Again, all these transactions were carried out without the approval of the shareholders of HPL.

   Shareholders’ anger

   News was leaking out about the Lee family’s purchases of the HPL condominiums and the shareholders were getting increasingly alarmed and disgruntled. When pressure was brought to bear on the management, HPL decided to belatedly seek the approval of its shareholders a full eleven months later.

   The SES had no choice but to issue a statement censuring HPL for the breach of regulations. It noted that some of the discounts given to directors and their relatives in respect of the Nassim Jade units were higher than those given to non-related buyers and that the publicly listed companies have a duty to obtain the best price so as to maximise the return to its shareholders.

   Unanswered questions

   In spite of this, there was no investigation nor inquiry, merely a censure for the company. Meanwhile, Lee Suan Yew quietly resigned as a director with HPL.

   To date, many questions remain unanswered:

   1. Who made the decisions to sell the apartments at such discounts to the Lee family?

   2. Who authorised Pamelia Lee to sell the units to her relatives?

   3. How many more relatives or friends, apart from those readily identifiable, bought the units through such connections?

   4. Why did Ong Beng Seng, owner of HPL, offer the units, and presumably the discounts, to the Lee family?

   5. Why was there no enquiry into Lee Suan Yew’s involvement in affair?

   As the story began to build up and as more revelations came to light, the pressure and embarrassment to Lee Kuan Yew mounted.

   Dr Richard Hu, the Minister for Finance, then announced that he had recommended to Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong that Lee Kuan Yew and his son, Lee Hsien Loong, consider giving back the money they had received in the discounts. Sensing that this might ease public disquiet, the Lees agreed. The move backfired. People were now asking why were the Lees returning the money unless they felt that they had done something wrong. To make matters worse, Goh Chok Tong refused to accept the money and instructed the Accountant-General to return it back to the Lees. Talk was that Goh did not want the Government to be involved with the money which might bring complications later on.

   Goh knew he had to do something about the situation if he was going to remain untarnished. He then appointed the Finance Minister Richard Hu and Monetary Authority of Singapore Deputy Managing Director Koh Beng Seng to investigate the matter.

   Despite the fact that Hu and Koh were not the most independent and appropriate persons to look into the affair, the “investigation” went ahead.

   It was then that Goh Chok Tong announced that a parliamentary hearing would be conducted for the matter to be debated “openly.” At the same time, Goh announced that if anyone made any inappropriate comments about Lee Kuan Yew’s purchases, in or out of Parliament, Lee would not hesitate to sue. So much for an open debate.

   The debate that never was

   Just before the hearing took place however, HPL owner Ong Beng Seng was reportedly forced by Lee Kuan Yew to call for a press conference. He also defended the transactions saying that it was good advertisement for HPL to have Lee Kuan Yew as a buyer.

   If that was the case, why then did all the rest of Lee’s family and relatives also buy into the properties with substantial discounts? Was there any marketing value to this? Why was there a need to offer discounts to the Lee family when shareholders were straining to buy the units?

   In light of the property boom at that time, it would have been a silly move to sell units at less than maximum price. Did he know that Lee Suan Yew was offering units at discounts to his relatives? Who approved these sales? Why were the shareholders’ permission not sought? It would seem that Ong would be asked to answer these questions. But Ong invited only Singapore’s local media to his press conference so that troublesome questions by the foreign media could be avoided.

   Then came the parliamentary debate. Goh Chok Tong got up and proclaimed that there was no impropriety on the part of Lee Kuan Yew and Lee Hsien Loong in their purchase of the condos. Richard Hu echoed Goh’s sentiments and exonerated the Lees of any wrong doing.

   During the parliament session, Lee started going on and on about how much his wife was worth ($20 million in his estimate), how a hawker selling char kuay teow would upon seeing him give two eggs intead of one, and how tailors would be falling head over heels to tryito clothe him. He said almost everything except answer the real questions about the involvement of his whole family in the purchases and the breach of regulations by HPL. He so intimidated the four opposition members of parliament that none of them dared ask any question.

   No questions allowed

   At about the same time, a Chinese weekly magazine called Yazhou Zhoukan (Asiaweek) interviewed Tang Liang Hong (who later joined the Workers’ Party to contest in the 1997 elections) for his comments on the affair. Tang questioned, “Why wasn’t this matter handed over to the professional body like the CAD [Commercial Affairs Department] or the CPIB [Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau]? They are government departments not only rich in experience, but also well-known for being ‘iron-faced with selfishness’ [a Chinese phrase meaning firm and impartial]. They would be more detached and their reports would have been more convincing to the people. Koh Beng Seng and Finance Minister Richard Hu are after all not experts in this field.”

   The result: both Kuan Yew and Hsien Loong sued Tang for making the statement.

   But Tang had made a significant observation. Richard Hu had not submitted a written report as to the scope or the findings of their investigation despite the gravity of the matter. Both he and his assistant Koh Beng Seng failed to report the following:

   * Why father and son had not checked the size of their discounts, as they claimed, despite the fact that they had bought the properties for investment purposes,
   * Why Lee Hsien Loong said he did not know of the size of the discounts he received depite the fact that he had in his possession at the time he bought the unit a copy of the price list of Nassim Jade,
   * Why they did not obtain information from Lee Suan Yew or his wife Pamelia as to what their roles were in the sales of the units,
   * Why they did not investigate into the circumstances of the purchases of the units by Lee Kuan Yew’s extended family,
   * Why the HPL had not sought the approval of the shareholders to sale the apartments to the Lee family. This was despite the fact that the SES had censured HPL for failing to do just that.

   One country, two laws

   Lee Kuan Yew has never failed to brng anyone under the glare of the CPIB if there is a hint of corruption on his/her part. The late Teh Cheang Wan, then Minister for National Development, was driven to commit suicide when it was revealed that he had taken bribes for the construction of Housing and Development Board flats. Another official Wee Toon Boon was also punished severely for his role in a corruption case. Glenn Knight, a former public prosecutor, was charged and convicted for corruption in a business deal. During his case, Knight suffered a massive heart attack and was incapacitated for a period.

   In the HPL instance, there is more than ample evidence for the relevant authorities to commence an investigation into Lee’s family. When news broke about the Whitewater affair concerning U.S. President Bill Clinton, an independent counsel was set up to investigate the matter. No one was above the law. At least, not in the U.S. In Singapore, however, Lee Kuan Yew cannot even tolerate calls for investigation into his family matters. Alas, he and his family are above our Singapore law.

   Perhaps, the PAP should stop telling the world that it is so incorruptible.

4. Tun

   With the excellent article ‘ Singapore is not an island ‘ written by Bilahari Kausikan and published in the all-knowing Straits Times of Singapore, the feathers of many distinguished Malaysian political personalities now engaged in pummelling each other verbally with increasing intensity, are ruffled – from ‘ the delusional Chinese ‘ who cannot deny they are not delusional because they missed out the Devil in the fine print in our cherished Constitution and right up to our distinguished and honourable Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib bin Tun Abudl Razak or Mr Najib in the Singaporean diplomatic parlance.

   Now that the cat has been thrown amongst the pigeons, officially or unofficially the conclusive and pompous line of this article was that ‘ We cannot solve other people’s problems. Malaysians must work out their own destiny and we will have to live with their choices.’ Really ? At first glance, this sentence sounds like something taken out of President Obama’s numerous speeches. But on the other hand, we must realise that we must take seriously what our nearest neighbour think of us in our present dilemma if they had not given us some problems. Vide Wikileaks.

   Have our high riding southern neighbour given us up as a basket case and washed their hands off us ? Or are they giving us a hint that all manner of co-operation is possible to make our beloved Malaysia vis-a-vis the venerable UMNO strong and united again in the ultimate interest of Singapore’s survival in this ‘ not the most salubrious of neighbourhoods.’ Did anyone jumped the gun in presenting this gobbledygook or doublespeak ?

   Whatever the good intentions which have been expressed by Bilahari Kausikan of the Singapore Dipomatic Service are to be appreciated and are to be treated as a wake-up call to those who are not aware that with a weakened UMNO, the First and Last Line of Defence of our beloved Malaysia, AND ALSO OF SINGAPORE, who is going to fill the void ? Hence, ‘ the delusional Chinese ‘ ‘ Mr Najib’ etc.

   But then as I said before, the political mess of Malaysia today falls on the shenanigans of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew in no small measure since the beginning of the political time of Malaysia. We have his meticulously crafted wooden Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP as an evergreen living example. These old political folks have done nothing worthwhile to our national developmental efforts but sat on their backsides twiddling their thumbs and now they are diddling our friends and neighbours since their founding by the retreatign PAPs in 1966 !

   How, Bilahari Kausikan ? Their rallying call has always been the nation-splitting ‘ Malaysia for Malaysians ‘ which surprisingly echoes the ‘ Singapore for Singaporeans ‘ one can hear in Orchard Road nowadays. OK. Let us go on to the brass tacks.

   To every problem, human problems, there are answers. These can only be resolved by humankind. I was looking for good answers in the article, ‘Singapore is not an island.’, but I could find no firm answer to all the problems raised but only observations of a cursory kind. Maybe the answers are to be found in the future actions towards our beloved Malaysia by the Singapore Government which can only make us stronger and not break us ?

   Right, Mr Bilahari Kausikan ?

   MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH ! ONLY UMNO CAN BOLEH !

   The missive written by Singapore’s top roaming diplomat, Bilahari Kausikan raised more questions than answers. For a senior Civil Servant to wade right into the swirling and boiling waters of controversial Malaysian domestic politics, it is no frivolous matter.

   This published missive in the all-knowing Straits Times must have been a collective effort of Bilahari Kausikan and his dysfunctional meritocrats aka apparatchiks featuring the World’s Best minds but second best to the United States.

   A pundit has raised the question of whether a weak Malaysia or a strong Malaysia is good for Singapore ?

   From historical records, the one-man show of the Dictator Lee Kuan Yew (1959-2015) that his overt speeches and actions have always to the detriment of our beloved Malaysia.

   There is a long litany of asset losses to this tiny isle of a Republic with unending regularity. His specialty of using spies to spy on the shakers and movers of the Federation proved without any doubt to what extent he loved to have a hold on them as to their sexual peccadilloes. Unfortunately, Wikileaks was his nemesis in this respect.

   A weak Malaysia with a set of weak leaders was the aim of the Dictator Lee Kuan Yew (1959-2015). This culminated in his inspired, created and promoted the poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia, the TPPA.

   Man proposes. God disposes.

   After all his efforts of a lifetime and barking up the wrong tree in order to make Malaysia weak and malleable, and the TPPA is within sight for hara kiri by our beloved Malaysia, suddenly, this dastardly Singapore effort has been recognised by her own collective wise and intellectual dysfunctional elite or apparatchiks aka merictocrats that to push Malaysia over the cliff is

   TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE ULTIMATE SURVIVAL OF SINGAPORE BECAUSE FROM 2000 TO 2015, WORLD POLITICS HAVE CHANGED SO RAPIDLY AND SO MUCH THAT TO WEAKEN OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA NOW ALSO MEANS HARA KIRI TO SINGAPORE WHICH IS INDEFENSIBLE AGAINST A DETERMINED AND ORGANISED ARMED FORCE WHICH IS NOT THE FRONT AND LAST LINE OF DEFENCE, UMNO.

   I surmise even a chaotic Malaysia is bad, very bad for Singapore with its heavy load of multi-billionaires and permanent residents who will just decamp leaving Singapore without a credible GDP ! OMG ! This is just as bad as an unexpected earthquake !

   What goes around comes around, dear Sirs !

   I have always maintained that I will harm no one in my thoughts and actions.

   When the Dictator Lee Kuan Yew conceived the poisoned chalice for Malaysia the TPPA, to catch the naive, gullible, friendly and hospitable Malaysians from the behind which was in 2002, little did he realise that his 19th century imperialist tool, the TPPA would be out-dated by the time it was ready to pummel the Malaysians into submission by their own hands in 2015.

   When I say out-date is that his intention is to weaken our beloved Malaysia to such an extent through the flood of imported Singaporean goods so much so she becomes a colony of Singapore dependent on imperialist Singapore. Chaos would be good to facilitate the process.

   That was the out-dated and antiquated thinking of the Dictator in 2002 right through to 2015. He was steadfast in his belief. But the World changed to a World which no one could foresee in 2002, not even the Americans – terrorism via the Net !

   On paper with the signing of the TPPA, our beloved Malaysia will most likely confirm the worst fears of Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues.

   This is now recognised by these wise and intellectual Apparatchiks aka Meritocrats to be UNACCEPTABLE. A 180 degree turn in Singapore’s failed Policy towards Malaysia ? This was what the Dictator wanted to subjugate our beloved Malaysia to his Singapore’s command and desires.

   I find it rather embarassing to find another Policy failure of the Dictator (1959-2015) which was based on MONEY MONEY MONEY without compassion.

   OK. Kudos to Bilahari Kausikan and his dysfunctional apparatchiks aka meritocrats for recognising at the VERY VERY LAST MINUTE THAT A DEAD MALAYSIA IS NO USE TO ANYONE ESPECIALLY SINGAPORE

   Since our beloved Malaysia’s present UNHAPPY STATE OF AFFAIRS HAVE BEEN CAUSED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY by the Dictator (1959-2015), it has fallen upon Singapore to assist in sorting out this Singapore created MONEY MONEY MONEY faux pas (mess) now running out of control in our beloved Malaysia. This is no longer fun and games for Singapore but for its very own survival. It is this serious because a weak or dead Malaysia will surely end the Singapore which Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues know today. There hangs the tale of how to prevent the go-go leadership of Malaysia from signing the TPPA.

   The answer is to postpone the signing by Malaysia.

   This has become Singapore’s greatest problem – TO TURN A WEAK MALAYSIA INTO A STRONG MALAYSIA WHICH IS A WIN-WIN SITUATION ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VENERABLE JOHOR STRAITS.

   THEREFORE, A STRONG MALAYSIA AS LED BY UMNO PROPERLY, IS GOOD, VERY GOOD FOR SINGAPORE. Strange to say the crooked conman and Dictator’s (1959-2015) inspired, created and promoted the poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia, the TPPA, turned out to be the foreign policy game-changer for the Republic of Singapore.

   IT IS NOW RECOGNISED BY ONE AND ALL THAT IF THERE IS NO MALAYSIA LED PROPERLY BY UMNO, THERE WILL BE NO SINGAPORE.

   And let no one ever forget that our beloved Malaysia is more important in its strategic geo-political than Singapore because the latter cannot survive WITHOUT A STRONG MALAYSIA PROPERLY LED by UMNO. PERIOD.

   All the endeavours of Singapore are in Peninsula Malaysia not in the air-conditioned offices of Orchard Road. Acheh ! Hence, Singapore is not an island.

   MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH ! ONLY UMNO CAN BOLEH !

   The article ” Singapore is not an island.” which was written by a top diplomat of the Singapore Government, Bilahari Kausikan and published in the all-knowing Straits Times of Singapore is not what it seems.

   The catchy comments on the delusional young Chinese as ” They are delusional. ” and on our Honourable and Distinguished Prime Minister, Dato Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, ” Mr Najib understands that Malaysia and Singapore need each other.” etc. are just the icing to the cake baked by Bilahari Kausikan and his dysfunctional meritocrats aka apparatchiks.

   The fact of the matter is what I surmise that Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues have discovered from the detailed collection of information on Malaysia and its movers and shakers is that an elephant has appeared in the room of Malaysia.

   And with the march of events day by day, this elephant became bigger and bigger. They through their intellect and vision have come to realise what is the FIRST AND LAST LINE OF DEFENCE OF MALAYSIA which is UMNO going to do because they have done nothing about the growing elephant in the room because they did not notice ?

   How to make the elephant in the room disappear again to the joint relief of the Malaysians and the Singaporeans ? What happens if this elephant in the room grow out of proportion and crushes all in its path ? WILL THERE BE THE FIRST AND LAST LINE OF DEFENCE UMNO TO PREVENT OR STOP THIS ? This is the 64,000 Singapore Dollars question. But by then, everything will be too late.

   After UMNO, WHO WILL FILL THE VOID ? This is the most perplexing question for Bilahari Kausikan and his fellow dysfunctional Meritocrats aka Apparatchiks to answer ? Who else in this globalized World but…?

   And Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues in their utter exasperation of the lackadaisical attitude of their good friends who seem to in a normal mode which treated all events, big and small, as normal or they have gone off minding the Singapore inspired GLCs ! This heightened their anxiety as top-notch elites of a small country which they are charged to safeguard and protect ! Why ?

   BECAUSE BILAHARI KAUSIKAN AND HIS DYSFUNCTIONAL MERTIOCRATS aka APPARATCHIKS have discovered an elephant which is just as big in the living room of Singapore. OMG !

   This Singaporean elephant was not created by the inefficiencies or the incompetencies of their own but by those external influences on Singapore’s wherewithal such as the Crash of October 2008, the Malaysian elephant, the long drawn out World recession etc.

   I sympathize with the many balls which Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues who have to juggle in the air all the time. More and more balls seemed to be added on to this daunting effort. The least expected of all unexpected discoveries, was this Malaysian elephant in the room which may trample all in its path and create a void which has to be replaced in poitical and socio-economic terms. How ?

   They talked to those fellows up North who do not seem to notice in their Seventh Heaven. Hence in utter frustration and anxiety, out popped this Haribulan Kausikan missive about their immediate concerns – THE REAL POSSIBILITY OF AN AMOK ELEPHANT ! And Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues know very well that Singapore cannot be DEFENDED. The slightest sign of insecurity for Singapore – the magic show is over.

   Let us go back to the basics as my English lecturers taught me.

   If Lee Kuan Yew had been NORMAL and his citizens did not salaam him a whole lifetime, the Singapore problems of today, the lack of human resources, the struggling GDP, eternal exposure to external influences etc would not be as bleak as could be recognised by Bilahari Kausikan and his colleagues, full of intellect and gumption which I recognise as good, very good.

   But the attitude of Lee Kuan Yew from the earliest days till 2015 was not conducive to goodwill and goodfaith between nations and citizens because his POLICIES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BASED ON MONEY MONEY MONEY. Bonds created by MONEY MONEY MONEY are not as strong as those born out of camaraderie and hardships. To compound to his difficulty, he wanted to win always through the superiority of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s in legal documnents. OK. Arising from his public life’s Policies, I managed to identify 42 failed Policies of Lee Kuan Yew which add to the difficulties of Bilahari Kausikan today and the future.

   And to add to all these difficulties, Lee Kuan Yew embarked on a Policy of dominating Malaysia in all spheres from politics to sports, by hook or by crook without really understanding what made those in power, the Malays ticked ! We may safely say that this failed Policy should stop at the unexpected discovery of the elephant in Malaysia’s room by Bilahari Kausikan and his dysfunctional colleagues recently as things became warmer in Malaysia.

   We see how Lee Kuan Yew’s policy towards Malaysia has already become out of date or antiquated since the end of the Cold War (1948-1989). Not only he was caught short by the sudden end of the Cold War, Lee Kuan Yew did not come up with anything new until at the turn of the 21st Century when Singapore was hit by a recession with unemployment after the Dot.com boom. Since then, Singapore’s economy dropped to its present status with no hope of recovery.

   And yesterday, the MAS dropped the interest with no response from the Singapore Stock Exchange. Let the pundits decide how bad this is !

   To add to the difficulties which our beloved Malaysia faces all the time, we have Lee Kuan Yew doing his own thing within the borders of the country and also externally. For example,

   The secretive TPPA was a Lee Kuan Yew’s creation born out of the surprising end of the Cold War. The TPPA is actually a 19th century imperialist device which has been dusted and used in the 21st Century. It is as out of date as the dodo of Mauritius to diddle our beloved Malaysia using Uncle Sam as the battering ram through a 100 volumes Treaty which will fox the naive, gullible, friendly and hospitable Malaysian into submission SIGNED BY THEIR OWN HANDS !    But the TPPA is strictly out of date for Singapore with all due respect !

   1. I BELIEVE AN OPEN ECONOMY OF EQUALS CAN BE ESTABLISHED BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE AT THE PRESENT TIME WITH THE DEPARTURE OF LEE KUAN YEW with his antiquated thoughts and actions.

   2. WITH THE UNRESOLVED EXTERNAL DEVELOPMENTS OUTSIDE OF MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE, AND NO ENDING SEEMS TO BE IN SIGHT, THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM TO DEVELOP THE HUGE INFRA-STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS AVAILABLE IN MALAYSIA JOINTLY WITH SINGAPORE. I am not talking about 200 stories buildings !

   3. THIS JOINT EFFORT BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE WILL OPEN UP A NEW ERA OF PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY FOR ALL ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAUSEWAY. SINGAPORE DOES NOT NEED THE TPPA TO DIDDLE AND KILL THE NAIVE, GULLIBLE, FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE MALAYSIANS from behind. Let us be equal, transparent and talk sense with the proper mind-sets !

   4. INSTEAD OF SHOOTING THE ELEPHANTS IN BOTH COUNTRIES, WITH THE RIGHT MOVES, WE JUST MAKE THE ELEPHANTS SMALLER AND MORE MANAGEABLE.

   5. OUR FIRST AND LAST LINE OF DEFENCE UMNO IS STRENGTHENED AND OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM, THE FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY WITH OPEN CAPITALIST CHARACTERISTICS AND A MALAY BIAS WITH OUR LOYALTY AND DEVOTION TOWARDS OUR YANG DI PERTUAN AGONG AND THE ROYAL SULTANS AND OUR CHERISHED CONSTITUTION WHICH SAFEGUARDS ISLAM AND ALL THE OTHER RELIGIONS, SAVED from being trampled down by the elephant.

   Many Bloggers must be wondering how the apparently insoluble problems of 1MDB and that of TPPA would end. Your previous comments on these two subjects apply.

   1. To this day, I do not undersand why the closest aides with their inefficiency and incompetence did what they did with the unlimited power which they had at the beginning. OK. That was the past. But the solution is straightforward and all-embracing. No big deal. But what to do when amateurs are at play ?

   2. The approach to the much disliked Lee Kuan Yew inspired, created and promoted poisoned chalice TPPA is even more straightforward. Just throw the TPPA into the dustbin.

   But then we cannot because since the Dictator (1959-2015) at the age of 85 visited the Ulus in June 2009 to exhort, coerce and extract promises out of us the naive, gullible, friendly and hospitable Malaysians with Obama’s approval for TPPA in his pocket, we have become deeply committed to something which we know NOTHING about the TPPA. What to do ?

   Our beloved Malaysia as far as I know do not deploy smooth gents like Bilahari Kausikan to smooth ruffled feathers of Government officials. We only do it through the famed 19 holes of golf. How ?

   If we have a Malaysian version of Haribulan Kausikan as our diplomat, when Obama rings up after our First and Last Line of Defence UMNO has decided in its wisdom to postpone gracefully the signing of the TPPA indefinitely, our Malaysian Haribulan Kausikan would diplomatically reply.

   ” Mr President. All our people have approved your wonderful TPPA for a better World of the free. But they apologise for not being able to sign the TPPA immediately due to certain unexpected constrains which will be explained later when our Foreign Minister meet you in Washington DC. In the meantime, please rest assured Malaysia will support all endeavours of the United States to the fullest in our joint battle for Freedom and Democracy. Our Foreign Minsiter will follow this up in writing. Good-day Sir!’

   Tun, if you have been in the Chair, no one would have realised that there is such a thing as the 1MDB and the TPPA. These cost us in time and money terribly.

   My mother realised a long time ago the importance of the General Elections and those who took part in it. She realised the importance of the role of UMNO in all things public in our beloved Malaysia.

   But now I wonder how many Malaysians really know the meaning of UMNO and its functions especially those who are supposed to know ? Those 2 millions over members of this august political party ?

   Do they realise that UMNO now and has been for sometime since the MCA became non-functional and the never functioned DAP, has unknowingly taken on the role of safeguarding the Malays 51% of the population and the non-Malays 49% ? The duties and responsibilities which have been thrust upon UMNO will make or break the Nation if not wisely and carefully handled.

   We Malaysians have always abide by the rules of the laws, ethics, standards, morals, propriety, probity etc which are the norms for civil behaviour even though we are naive, gullible, hospitable and friendly. But since 2003, these virtues were observed to have been cast aside for something known as MONEY MONEY MONEY. A new fankled plaything which has its origins in Singapore.

   Because Singapore has no resources, the crooked conman and Dictator Lee Kuan Yew (1959-2015) conjured up an easy and all embracing virtual resource to capture the imagination of the masses but manipulated and bolstered by his Godless Ultra Communistic Political and Social System.

   This is his MONEY MONEY MONEY theme.

   Being a Dictatorship, this sort of Political System can only be controlled by a honest, frugal and hard working Dictator in a small place who also gave up 19 holes of golf. And yet after his recent departure, the dysfunctional meritocrats aka apparatchiks he left behind, felt insecure as though they have been recently become orphans. Hence, Bilahari Kausikan.

   History has shown us that after the departure of the dictator, the Dictatorial System collapsed sooner or later eg. Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Stalin, Mao, Tito, Castro.

   As the intensity of the debates attracted more and more participants to join in day by day, it is a time when our First and Last Defence UMNO in the land, also grew in importance concomitantly because the other political parties have become irrelevant.

   But an unexpected threat to our very existence as a Nation has appeared in the form of the Lee Kuan Yew’s inspired, created and promoted poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia, the TPPA which uses Uncle Sam as a battering ram.

   Is our cherished UMNO aware of the double threats to its very existence since 1946 ? Are the 51% of the population the Malays aware of these double threats and the 49% non-Malays too ?

   The very heavy responsibility of UMNO to safeguard the 30 millions of Malaysians who look up to UMNO for sustenance and security is no laughing matter.

   For centuries, we Malaysians lived in stability, peace and harmony first under the Royal Sultans and then from Merdeka, our Yang Di Pertuan Agong and the Royal Sultans.

   For our trustworthy, wise and mandated UMNO to make a wrong step now will be fatal to all of us, Malaysians. And the Royal Sultans are rightful and legal Rulers from the distant past. We should expect them to reign over us for 1,000 years or more.

   And we, Malaysians, do not want to end up like the Syrians, the Iraqis, the Libyans and the Afghans because our Royal Sultans have ruled over us continuously, wisely and legitimately since the beginning of time. These unfortunate people did not even had the luxury to think about MONEY MONEY MONEY but only wanted a chance to live and work like all NORMAL human beings.

   UMNO had always the zeal to put our beloved Nation on a better footing. As far as I can remember until recently. the word ” SACRIFICE ” has always been uppoermost in the minds and lips of UMNO’s leadership. I have not heard this word coming from the other political parties. Strange.

   It is with pride that I remember the good deeds and good works which UMNO through its trustworthy and wise leaders who brought our great Nation right up to the mark this very day !

   I am confident that by making the right moves the UMNO leadership with sacrifice and wisdom evolves UMNO into a better political entity as to be expected sooner or later.

   And as for the future, the moment NORMALCY returns, we will all shoot up to the Moon and the stars by emulating countries like Switzerland and Japan. No problem.

   I could discern Bilahari Kausikan is WORRIED ABOUT THE STATUS OF UMNO, NOW AND THE FUTURE and not the delusional Chinese in DAP which are peanuts in legal terms to the dysfunctional Singaporean elites riding their World’s Best horses.

   IF MONEY MONEY MONEY is lost, it maybe recovered or created. No big deal. But if a person’s life or reputation is lost, this is a serious matter because it is irrecoverable.

   The latest offering ex gratis to add to this political controversial place called Malaysia has come to a head from an unexpected corner of the globe, the tiny isle of Singapore. The article published in the know-all Straits Times, Singapore. eg.

   ” SINGAPORE IS NOT AN ISLAND.” sounds DELUSIONAL.

   But the author Bilahari Kausikan, is definitely NOT DELUSIONAL when he accused the massed cadres of the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP as being ” They are delusional.” A phrase which shaped my view of the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP and the PAP from 1964 to this very day.

   These cadres have misled the members of this Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP en masse. This is just an exercise in futility and a waste of time which in time can only bring much grief and pain.

   The ex-meritocratic writer began on the Malaysian Political System which is our tested and reliable ” Free Malaysian Style Democracy with Open Capitalist Characteristics and a Malay Bias, ” by observing, ” But it was a system that had its own coherence and until relatively recently, it did not serve Malaysia badly.” Thank you very much Bilahari Kausikan ! A pat on the shoulder by Singapore is to be treasured.

   With his tongue in the cheek, Bilahari Kausikan moved close to the Malaysian leadership to nudge them to sign the Singapore inspired, created and promoted poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia, the TPPA, with the sugary words, ‘ Mr Najib understands that Malaysia and Singapore needs each other.’ as if this is a new sensational discovery and not that we (Malaysia and Singapore) needed each other since the founding of Singapore by SIR STAMFORD RAFFLES in 1820. Where are the United States Marines, Bilahari Kausikan ?

   And our interesting and ex-meritocratic writer, Bilahari Kausikan offered literally in monetary terms breaking all DIPLOMATIC NORMS, thus, unabashedly, ‘ But some systems will be easier to work with than others.’ This echoes his ex-Boss the Oracle of Singapore who said in 1966, ” Sometimes you may have to trade with the Devil.” Acheh !

   Bilahari Kausikan, Sir ! I offer you ( Singapore is not an Island )

   After 8 pages of guff with paper arrows aimed at the DAP cadres and sugary comments at our ruling hierachy, Bilahari Kausikan got back on to his high World’s Best Horse and pompously said, ‘ WE CANNOT SOLVE OTHER PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS. MALAYSIANS MUST WORK OUT THEIR OWN DESTINY AND WE WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEIR CHOICES. ‘

   Conveniently, he forgot Singapore’s Godless Ultra Communistic Political and Social System or Singapore Model or Authoritarian Capitalism or Benign Dictatorship or rich Cuba withou the havanas but the bananas as know by the West for decades !

   Finally, what is the motive behind Bilahari Kausikan’s non-delusional article purportedly aimed at the delusional cadres of the Singapore Trojan Horse DAP ?

   Or is the Singapore new PAP leadership with the passing of the old has got tired of the sit-on their backsides and do-nothing attitude of the evergreen DAP leadership which contributed NOTHING to the National Development Effort from 1966 to 2015.

   Or is it a clarion call from the PAP, that the hour for the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP has come ! But then, politics are not played in the full glare of the media anywhere for that matter.

   Or is this out of the blue article but quite in sync with what is happening to the TPPA in Malaysia, and in their anxiety to put our beloved Malaysia as a LIEBENSRAUM via the TPPA which made Bilahari Kausikan to put his name behind this interesting article which may have been produced by the collective efforts of the dysfunctional ex-meritocrats of Singapore. Since 2013, 2 Ministers of the Singapore Government declared jobs and promotions would not be based on academic qualifications alone but also on hidden talents. Kudos to them.

   Finally, from the Malaysian perspective, I observe that the Mandate which was given by the Rakyat to the UMNO leadership would be returned to the Rakyat to make a decision, a political decision whether it would be a yea or a nay on the TPPA.

   But the Mandate was given to the UMNO leadership with their superb political expertise as the FIRST AND LAST LINE OF DEFENCE OF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA TO DECIDE. On this score,

   I SUGGEST THAT OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA POSTPONES ITS DECISION UNTIL A LATER DATE BECAUSE A BIRD IN HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH.

   In other words, UMNO has the option to be wise and to survive with their eyes open. Even though the cost as propounded by the yea-sayers may be high, IT IS BETTER TO BE ALIVE FOR THE MALAYS AND THE NON-MALAYS THAN TO BE SORRY SIX FEET UNDERGROUND and at the expense of all that we love.

   And for Bilahari Kausikan and all Singaporeans, there are lots and lots of socio-economic developments for Malaysia and Singapore to benefit and profit from. Your TPPA is actually already OUT OF DATE STRATEBY FOR MALAYSIA since 2003.

   Why kill Malaysia when only tariff-free re-labelled Singaporean goods are in question ? Chaos ? Etc ? As you said, these incidents will affect normal trade. There are so many better ways to cut the cake for all ! It is the ideas which make the MONEY MONEY MONEY. Not MONEY MAKES MONEY !

   Bilahari Kausikan, it is good that you write another article of your interesting thoughts that our beloved Malaysia can sign the TPPA at a later date for the benefit of all.

    After all this is only a MONEY MONEY MONEY conundrum unexpectedly created by GLCs civil servants, party boys, closest aides, unqualified cartoonists, fellow travelliers, so on and so forth.

    There was a Minister who assured the SMEs that the Government will look after their interests without knowing what the TPPA is all about and the fragile state of all Malaysian SMEs. Does the Honourabel Minister know that SMES are weak in terms of everyting including marketing. Please do not forget SMEs are no MONOPOLIES. I used to own a few SMEs. I found that marketing their products in far away places like North America is costly, time consuming and unproductive.

    With the flood of tariff free goods from Singapore, the Malaysian SMEs are killed off faster through self-immolation.

    All the negative effects of the poisoned chalice TPPA will add up to finish up our…

    With the controversial and Lee Kuan Yew inspired, created and promoted poisoned chalice for Malaysia, the TPPA, we must gather all the facts which have arisen over a period of years before a real picture of the Dictator’s intentions can be formed.

    First, our beloved Malaysia, because of our naiveness, gullibilty, friendliness and hospitality has never been good at the negotiating table with the likes of Singapore, India etc. From the Water Agreement of 1962 through the palm oil negotiations with India in the 1980s, and the give-away and take-away Malaysian assets to Singapore after 2003, there has not been a single instance our beloved Malaysia has gain something. We gained NOTHING within the context of Sovereignty, National Interest and Self-esteem.

    And now we are hit with the TPPA during a low period of our long and solid history dating back to centuries before.

    Second, if the history of the TPPA had originated in Washington DC, I would say we can safely grasp it with both hands.

    But the TPPA originated from the crafty and cunning mind of Lee Kuan Yew (1959-2015) after Singapore’s economic activities were hit by the sudden collapse of Communism in 1989. The dysfunctional elites with the smartest fellow on top only woke up 10 years after Uncle Sam’s hegemonic spiel, ‘ Globalization, Free Trade, Human Rights ‘. These supposedly good virtues of the West hit Singapore’s grey business like arms trading, smuggling, money laundering, sanctions breaking, etc., hard, because all of a sudden a bi-polar World had been turned into a multi-polar World. Singapore was immediately by-passed.

    At the turn of the 21st Century and immediately after the announcement of your retirement Tun, the dysfunctional elites with the smartest fellow on top worked overtime. And they came up by 2003 the following :-

    i) A new investment Policy for Temasek and GIC. This was a mistake. The dysfunctional elites with the smartest fellow on top did not invest in GOLD at US$ 300 per oz and joined the Big Nations of the World. Or else today Singapore would have been rubbing shoulders with the United States, China and India. Malaysia would be under her heel. Man proposes. God disposes.

    The dysfunctional elites with the smartest fellow on top could only think out elaborate and cunning schemes like the TPPA ! TONNES OF GOLD AT US$ 300 per oz. would put Singapore not as a knight in shining armour BUT THE KING OF THE HILL. This opportunity is now lost due to narcissism. These folks joined the hoi-polloi of Wall Street and lost US$ 108 Billions in October 2008 after being subjected to daily FLATTERY by the Western media.

    ii) A dual purpose disguised Trade Pact, the TPPA, to break-down the tariff barriers of Malaysia using Uncle Sam as a battering ram.

    THE TPPA WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE IF YOU WERE STILL THE PRIME MINISTER, TUN BECAUSE YOU SAW THROUGH LEE KUAN YEW’S TRICKS FROM 1964 ! But who has your vision and experience of a life-time in our beloved Malaysia today ?

    iii) Two casino licences to kick start the economy for the short term. What was not foreseen was that the gambling market was already over-crowded.

    Strangely, if the poisoned chalice for our Malaysia is not signed by Malaysia, ALL THE THREE PROPOSALS TO SAVE SINGAPORE WOULD HAVE FAILED ! Man proposes. God disposes !

    Third, we are bombarded nowadays in the official media that the poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia TPPA is all very good. I was a small boy once upon a time. But I am no longer a spring chicken in colloquial terms.

    We Malaysians have always been caught short by looking at the wide World from our internal perspective. This is the wrong approach. The first basic consideration should be what is the GAIN OR LOSS when we look into Malaysia via the TPPA. This is the correct assessment because WHY SHOULD ANY FOREIGNER CARES FOR OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA ? AND DID ANYONE CARED FOR THE POOR PALIESTINIANS FROM 1921 TO 2015 ? There is no such thing as a free lunch. All foreigners come to Malaysia to make MONEY MONEY MONEY and we do the same as well overseas !

    In perspective, the market capitalization of APPLE is US$ 700 Billions and GENERAL ELECTRIC’S is US$ 400 BILLIONS. The foreign exchange reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia is US$ 91 Billions.

    What I am trying to say is that our market is too small for the United States to plan anything crafty or cunning. She could not care less.

    BUT IF YOU SEE MALAYSIA FROM THE SINGAPORE PERSPECTIVE – IT IS BIG, VERY BIG SO MUCH SO MALAYSIA PROVIDES A LIEBENSRAUM FOR THE VERY SURVIVAL OF LEE KUAN YEW’S LEGACY AND THE SURVIVAL OF SINGAPORE. Pour le vouz francais ?

    Fourth, the more information I gathered on the TPPA, the more I realised what good works and deeds have been carried out by UMNO OR THE UNITED MALAY NATIONAL ORGANIZATION from 1946.

    In the whole country, in political terms and within our unique Political System which was put together by the joint wisdom and efforts of our elders, UMNO IS THE ONLY POLITICAL ORGANISATION OF REPUTE AND TRUSTWORTHINESS NOT WITHSTANDING THE RECENT UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. UMNO PROVIDES THE LEADERSHIP, THE POLICIES AND THE WHEREWITHAL FOR THE WELL-BEING OF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA AND HER RAKYAT.

    We cannot do without UMNO at the moment or in the near future. UMNO is our FIRST and LAST LINE OF DEFENCE. NO SCREW-UPS PLEASE !

    Like in a Hollywood film which costs US$ 100 millions, this is the LAST THROW OF THE DICE FOR SINGAPORE. BUT IT IS NOT THE LAST THROW OF THE DICE FOR OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA ! To obviate any UNSEEN DIFFICULTIES WE JUST THROW AWAY THIS POISONED CHALICE TPPA INTO THE DUST BIN FOR THE MOMENT.

    It is safer to pay a higher price to join later when we are stronger for something we know than for seductive exhortations which we do not know. No 19 holes of golf for us ?

    Look at the wise countries of China, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia. They are not members of TPPA. BUT THEY CAN JOIN LATER.

    Fifth, WE NAIVE GULLIBLE FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE MALAYSIANS ARE FRIENDS TO ALL. We should emulate two great countries Switzerand and Japan to become like them, solid and sound. No monkey business.

    On the subject of the GLCs, there are GLCs and GLCs.

    Only three countries, Russia, China and Singapore, have GLCs which pre-dated those in Malaysia except for monopolies like TNB, Telekom etc.

    Sime Darby became a GLC after going bankrupt and had to be bailed out by PNB. When the Malays took control of it. Sime Darby had only RM 23 Millions worth of Malay-owned Sime Darby shares, It was the 2 Singaporean corporates which acquired sufficient shares for the Malays to control the Board. The unfortunate demise of our great Prime Minister derailed the best intentions of those with vision.

    Those countries which practise Westminister parliamentary democracy never do businesses through GLCs.

    Russia’s GLCs were turned private through the transfer of ownership by the State to the oligarchs in haste. A move which is viewed with disquiet by China.

    China’s GLCs which came about from Deng Xiao Peng’s new political and socio-economic policy of 1982 which permitted State-owned and run enterprises to have private shareholders. I had a friend who participated in a chemical factory in Shandong in this manner. By 2015, the GLCs were all bloated and inefficient which China is now trying to reform their SOEs to eliminate inefficiency and corruption. There are so many of them, that the good intentions of President Xi has stalled.
    It is reported that China is now looking at the Singapore Model of managing GLCs.

    The Singapore Model of GLCs came about out of necessity to provide employment and revenue. After 1965, Singapore wanted to turn its entreport into a cosmopolitan city. In 1961, Dr Alfred Winsemius a Dutch UN economics expert was engaged by the Singapore Government. It was Dr Winsemius who recommended on all aspects of Singapore’s infra-structural development like land reclamation, Jurong Industrial Park, Asian Dollar, etc. The development of human resources was left to Lee Kuan Yew who screwed up big time with his 2 Child Family Policy of 1970 to 1980. The killer of indigenous reproduction today. In the late 1960s, Singaporean traders were encouraged to begin industries like Starlite Ceramics, Fair Lady, Far East Levingston, Eupoc, Regent Hair Wigs, Singapore Textiles, Diaward Industries etc. Most of these enterprises failed because Singapore’s market was small and the consumers believed in brand names. The Singapore Government had to step in to fill the void like the Neptune Orient Line, SIA, DBS, Keppel Shipyard, Capitalland, Sembawang Shipyard, Chartered Industries etc.

    This was how the Singaporean GLCs began. But these GLCs were all closely monitored by ONE person, the Dictator Lee Kuan Yew who was honest, frugal, hard-working, and counted every cent in the Treasury and seldom travel. When he did, it was always with his wife by SIA. But he had a penchant for the private lives of his underlings and sexual peccadilloes of full blooded Malaysians. Vide Wikileaks.

    GLCs CAN ONLY BE SUCCESSFULLY ADMINISTERED BY LEE KUAN YEW IN A SMALL PLACE LIKE SINGAPORE !

    The Malaysian GLCs evolved from chequered intentions and accidental backgrounds after the Crash of 1997. Some were bail-outs and should have been returned to the Malay private sector. In the United States, there were gigantic bail-outs after the Crash of October 2008, like AIA, GM, etc which were returned to the private sector very quickly. Any delay, the Administration would have been labelled COMMUNIST.

    The Malaysian GLCs have grown by leaps and bounds outside of the Government Budget control since 2003. No one really knows how many GLCs are in existence or how much these GLCs have borrowed.

    Most of them do the same businesses as the PRIVATE SECTOR. These also utillise the funds as are available for the PRIVATE SECTOR in the banks. Obviously, there must be an overcrowding in every business sector in a small country with GLCs competing with the Private Sector for business opportunities and funds. And our Political System is not COMMUNIST.

    I have proposed that the GLCs should be sold thus :-

    1. To be sold to new Bumiputra and non-Bumiputra owners

    2. To be sold back to the former owners if they did not break the law

    3. To be sold to the incumbent management and new non-Bumiputra owners.

    All the Malaysian GLCs are managed by civil servants with no experience, ownership and accountability. It is best to return these GLCs to the Private Sector to take the risk and make taxable profits for the Government. There is no country in the World that do business to make money for the Rakyat. Maybe only the Communist did it in the past.

    IT IS BEST TO MOVE AWAY FROM OUR PRESENT OBSESSION WITH MONEY MONEY MONEY BY ALL.

    Malaysia now has 3 GLCs Empires.

    1. The original hodge-podge of listed monopolies or agencies like Bank Negara Malaysia etc.

    2. The 1MDB

    3. The KHAZANAH.

    Now we must realise that UMNO is the FRONT LINE of defence of our beloved Country and its Political System, the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and the Royal Sultans, our cherished Constitution and the Rakyat and not the police or the military.

    Perhaps we have a look back in history to discover any historical precedent to what could happen as a result of our beloved Malaysia signing the crooked conmen and Dictator Lee Kuan Yew (1959-2015) inspired poisoned chalice for Malaysia, the TPPA. I found two historical precedents :-

    1. THE 19TH CENTURY TALE OF THE LITTLE DUTCH BOY AND THE DYKE ( UMNO )

    In 19th century Holland, many dykes were being built to prevent the fierce waves of the North Sea from flooding into the low lying pasture lands. The dykes were embankments built to prevent flooding from the sea.

    One fine morning after a heavy storm, a little Dutch boy was walking happily and gaily to school. On the way , he had to pass many dykes. Lo and behold ! He came across one dyke which was leaking through a small hole the size of his little finger. With a presence of mind, he jammed his little finger into that little hole until a passerby came and gave out the alarm.

    Here is the story of a little boy, a hero who saved a Nation !

    2 The FALL OF THE MING DYNASTY (1400 AD – 1700 AD) AND THE GREAT WALL ( UMNO ) OF CHINA.

    The Ming Dynasty with its many successful Emperors was the toast of the ancient World and the barbarians which offered magnificent tributes to them. However, the long reign of the Ming can only bring their downfall sooner or later as there were many ancient precedents of treachery or betrayals before in the long history of ancient China.

    Indeed, the expected treachery or betrayal came in an unexpected manner at the Great Wall of China.

    This Great Wall was built 1,500 years by another Emperor before the rise of the Ming. The Wall was to prevent the raids into the hinterlands of China by the nomadic hordes of Mongols etc. The Wall stretches to the western most province of Sinkiang from the eastern coast, to this very day. And the Great Wall has never been conquered by the use of force or by an army.

    The Great Wall was conquered by guile and treachery at the end of the 17th century. It happened this way as history was alleged to tell us.

    The Ming Emperor in power just before the fall of the Ming Dynasty gave his IMPERIAL MANDATE to his General-in-Chief to safeguard and protect the Great Wall from invasion by the barbarians or the Manchus who have since appeared to threaten the borders of northern China.

    But contrary to the orders in the IMPERIAL MANDATE, the General-in-Chief took a bribe from the invading Manchus who were able to convince him to open just one guard tower for them – the invading Manchu army. The rest was history as they said. This brought about the rise of the Manchu Dynasty (1700 – 1908) in China.

    In the Annals of the history of ancient China, the Manchus just took one Step out of the 36 Steps of Life, ( an ancient analect on how to win in Life ) i.e. To finish off a gang of robbers, go for the Chief ( the General-in-Chief with the IMPERIAL MANDATE.)

    It is abundantly clear from the two historical tales of heroism or betrayal and treachery what the future holds for our beloved Malaysia vis-a vis the TPPA if we take the wrong step. Who will be the Hero is yet to be seen ?

    It is abundantly clear also that our one and only political national organisation, UMNO HOLDS THE FRONT LINE IN THE DEFENCE OF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA AND ALL WHICH HOLD DEAR TO US THE RAKYAT.

    IF THE FRONT LINE UMNO COLLAPSES, THERE WILL BE NO OTHER FORM OF DEFENCE TO PRESERVE ALL THAT ARE MEANINGFUL AND PRECIOUS TO THE RAKYAT.

    We do not deserve to see UMNO COLLAPSES after all our efforts through the centuries, then from 1946 and finally through our Merdeka in 1957 from which we again tried to level the playing field fhrough the NEP in 1971.

    We should be given a fair chance and opportunity to build our wonderful Country together like Switzerland and Japan without the TPPA.

    We should just throw the Lee Kuan Yew inspired TPPA into the dust-bin !

    Alas that day may never come. You must have attended scores of seminars in your long life so you must know that to have a successful seminar, you need people to show up. I don’t think there are that many people with LKY Derangement Syndrome who will attend this seminar.

    Malaysians willingly created GLCs and willing signed the TPPA. We may not have the best people there are among Malaysians to run the GLCs but we can change that if we are willing to stop the cronyism and hire people with brains and experience. It is our own fault to follow what you consider to be dumb policies. GLCs existed during Tun’s tenure as the PM. Think Sime Darby which is not too difficult for you, I hope, as you were one of the independent non-executive directors for quite a number of years.

    In the 80s and even into the 90s, I don’t think any other Malaysian company had a better board composition than Sime Darby. You weren’t alone. If my memory serves we well, your compatriots among the non-execs were Anand Panyarachun, Wee Cho Yaw, Michael Wong Pakshong. Even Tunku Bill was on board! Tun Tan Siew Sin was a great and illustrious Chairman of the Sime Darby Board. So too was Tun Ismail Mohd Ali, Tun’s brother-in-law. Alas, no one since these two greats can be considered a good helmsman. Group CEO during your period of fame, Tunku Ahmad Yahaya, performed admirably in my view. The selection of CEOs after Tunku Ahmad were rather poor and today, Zubir is still under trial for breach of trust. Good heavens.

    The main reason for the above-mentioned facts or outburst is that since 2003, nothing has been done by successive Governments and there is a long list of incidents which are best left out of my comment.

    IN THIS INSTANCE OF THE LEE KUAN YEW TPPA, IS OUR GOVERNMENT DOING THE RIGHT THING CONSIDERING THE FACTS OF THE RECENT PAST SINCE 2003 ?

    HENCE CAN WE BE SURE THAT UMN0 WOULD NOT SCREW UP BIG TIME AND FINISH OFF ALL OF US, BELOVED MALAYSIA AND ALL ? Even the World’s Best Country with its World’s Best Das Auto could ‘SCREW’ up big-time ?

    Finally, on the controversial Singapore inspired poisoned chalice for our beloved Malaysia, TPPA, I am surprised at one stroke of the pen, our beloved Malaysia gives away all what is available now and expects to benefit from the hazy distant future in terms of yet TO BE BORN MALAYSIAN BUSINESSES.

    What is the value of Petronas and the Khazanah Empire being exempted ? The latter was created as recently as after 2003 from the desires of certain Civil Servants. It is not in the National Interest. Even China finds its GLCs a burden to bear in terms of efficiency and corruption.

    WTIH THE CRASH OF UMNO WHO IS GOING TO DEFEND THESE ‘CORE’ POLICIES CREATED BY THE CIVIL SERVANTS ?

    Our vaunted Political System with UMNO which protects our beloved Malaysia, our Yang Di Pertuan Agong and the Royal Sultans, the Constitution and the Rakyat, would have been destroyed for good by this cruel and cunning Lee Kuan Yew inspired TPPA !

    Our GLCs should not overide our Political System because of MONEY MONEY MONEY. This has always been the nub of my argument. It is better to sell off all the GLCs.

    How can we lose to a lesser person like Lee Kuan Yew, Tun ?

    Tun, maybe we should be more serious in our English lessons because it seems to me the Policy makers have forgotten ‘ A BIRD IN HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH.’

    A word of explanation why I used the term ‘ fake Singapore ‘ in some of my comments. It is this.

    One day the University of Cambrdige will hold a seminar on ‘ The Life and Times of Lee Kuan Yew 1959-2015.’ His life’s record will be judged and discoursed upon by the authorities on this subject. As of today, I could cull 42 of his failed Policies. My term, ‘ Fake Singapore ‘ is based on just a small selection of ‘fakery’ from this hallowed list.

    1. The use of money to buy out Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand so that he would not construct the Kra Canal. Inadvertently, many Thai men, women and children died. 2 coup-d’etats emerged. Malaysai has no such blood on her hands. Bribery ?

    2. The use of the full force of the Laws and income tax to enforce the 2 child-family Policy from the 1970s to the 1980s. During this period, sterilizations, abortions, divorces, mental illness, suicides etc were not reported. Oppression of human rights ?

    3. The purchase of 3rd rate sportsmen and women from China to win gold medals in badminton, table-tennis, shooting, football, swimming etc. Cheating ?

CHINESE and INDIANS had voted for PAS in many state and area as they don’t care which religion or who is the leader. All they expect is someone who can perform and develop the country without burdening the people like GST, 1MDB and etc.

    Can the MALAY community can reject and force NAJIB to step down. I don’t think MALAYS can forsee the future we are heading now. Salam Tun, you need to make inroads into the rural areas, esp like felda and felcra settlements, to explain on allegations made towards DSN and his 1MDB financial mess as well as the billion ringgit “donation”. I believe most of them don’t know or understand the grave issues that indirectly will affect them too. You have to tackle these folks very gently and patiently and with simplicity. Don’t come with big cars, coats and ties and bling bling, just be one of them and talk in their language. That’s the first step to catch their attention. They will not receive you nor they will listen to you if suddenly they are bombarded with these urbanised issues where in their minds are of no concern to them.
    In their minds, all their lives the leader of their sacred party is their master, who gives them sustenance. They are just simple minded folks, Tun. There was never a dot if racism in their minds. The unscrupulous politicians are the ones that poison these innocent folks’ minds, and we have witnessed the outcome of it.
    Tun, they feel grateful with what they have and accept their fate true to their faith, even if it means kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang.

    My wife and I, we the Faridina felt so blessed and inspired to be able to attend the Hi-Tea cum political talk organised by the UMNO branch of Pusat Bandar Taman Cempaka which happen to be the first ever branch of UMNO which dares to invite dearest Tun to give talks on the present issues and urging Najib to step down.

    Ironnically, these was the same branch which indeed took the first initiative to invite Tun back then in 2008 to give talks and to urge Pak Lah to step down.

    I personally came to know Tn Syed Saifuddin Syed Harman much closer while arranging my wife’s group (BO) to attend these talk and he is sure one courageous branch head and we wish to congratulate him for successfully conducting these unprecedented event and may many more courageous UMNO branch head dare to follow suits.

    Other than Tun M as the main speaker we are fortunate to have Tun’s sidekick in the form of Tan Sri Sanusi Junid (TSSJ) who gave a wonderful opener speech full of message.

    Learnt 2 new morale of the stories of the grave digger from the time of Imam Suffian and the migrating birds transiting to Denmark which can be related to the present leadership crisis as been told by TSSJ.

    Personally we felt that TSSJ is the best protege Tun ever produced in term of critical and analytical thinking in the most simple straight forward style. We the Faridina loves it and may TSSJ continues to write perhaps more often on his blog.

    As usual our main speaker and main attraction dearest Tun stole the limelight and gave us a lot of inspiration with his closing remarks “No Risk No Gain”.

    But we were kept pondering at the beginning about Tun’s story of people no longer go fishing in Malaysia today but have to go to Thailand to do so ended up with such hilarious analogy one could ever think about how rakyats dare not to speak out today.

    Tun did touches about Khairuddin Abu Hassan and SOSMA which we were made known that there is no definition of terrorist. You can be charged for sabotage and surprised to hear from Tun that Khairuddin can be sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted.      Sekiranya Speaker menolak untuk di adakan undi tidak percaya kepada DS Najib Razak, maka pemerintahan BN di Malaysia ini bolehlah diibaratkan seperti Diktator.

     Speaker seharusnya membenarkan undian tidak percaya memandangkan ada unsur kuat penyelewengan wang hasil Negara ke akaun peribadi Perdana Menteri.

     DS Najib boleh lah dalam masa terdekat ini mendedahkan siapa, alamat perniagaan, dimana, untuk siapa dan cara bagaimana dia menerima derma tersebut. Bagaimana pula DS Najib membelanjakan derma dan dimana baki wang tersebut disimpan.

     Sekiranya perkara ini didedahkan, DS Najib masih belum selamat kerana sebagai pemegang jawatan Perdana Menteri beliau seharusnya mengisytiharkan wang derma sebelum menggunakannya.

     Tidakkah Speaker Dewan ingin menggunakannya kedudukannya untuk mengetahui perkara sebenar kedudukan wang derma lebih kurang RM2.6b ini.

     Bagi saya, selagi DS Najib tidak mendedahkan maklumat penting ini dan masih bersandiwara bersama Timbalan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Menteri yang dua tiga kerat ini, bolehlah dikatakan wang RM2.6b ini adalah wang yang dicuri dari hasil Kerajaan Malaysia.

     Kepada ahli2 MT UMNO dan Lembaga Disiplin UMNO yang tidak berusaha untuk menurunkan DSN dengan ’sedaya-upaya dan bersungguh-sungguh’ dari kerusi Presiden UMNO, anda semua juga akan dikenang sebagai ’pengkhianat’ kepada UMNO, Agama, Bangsa dan Negara jika UMNO / BN tewas pada PRU-14.      I do not agree with what you said about our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Please note the following two facts :

     1. All the scandals linked to the Tun were actually created by his closest aides for reasons best known to themselves eg. the GLC civil servants, the party boys, camp followers, the unqualified cartoonists, sportsmen etc.

     Here is a fine example of the Management of a conglomerate Sime Darby free-wheeled for 39 years outside Malaysia without benefitting the Malays, the Malaysian Chinese and Indians and all. and went into bankruptcy twice in 1996 for RM 1 Billion and in 2010 for RM 2 Billions without any remorse.

     Another fine exmple is the case of a closest aide who began as an assistant in a small factory and was able to collect Stradivarius violins at US$ 5 Millions a piece after 20 years which he on-lend to the Singapore Philharmonic but not to Kuala Lumpur.

     Once I was requested by Tun to fulfil a task. I found it could not be done successfully and I told him so. I was the only person who did not create a scandal because I was not crooked.

     It is not fair to blame a person who only approved the task. It is the person who implements the task which should be responsible for its success or failure. In my case, I reported accordingly. In the case of others, these apponted aides were responsible for all the scandals. You do not expect a Prime Minister to lift up the phone to buy and sell. This is not his job which is the responsibilty of the closest aides.

     2. For a fair opinion of our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, here is one famous journalist, TJS George of democratic Mother India has to say in his Blogspot June 2010 :-

     ” The West has spread the impression that Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew is Asia’s outstanding economic miracle man while Malaysia’s Mahathir as a cantankerous ogre, hater of white people and dictator to boot. Both are dressed up portraits. What makes Mahathir special is that while pursuing economic progress he never lost sight of the larger picture of human values. That cannot be said of Lee Kuan Yew and certainly not of Indonesia’s Suharto or Thailand’s Thaksin Shinawatra. ”

     To accuse is easy. To find the facts to support an accusation is difficult if not well-nigh impossible. Let us be factual always.

     Penyokong-penyokong BN tidak boleh menerima hakikat yang jika undi tak percaya digerakkan dan Najib dipanggil turun tangga, BN mungkin kehilangan kuasa. Dalam percaturan politik, jika ini berlaku, baik PM membubarkan sahaja Parlimen, untuk PRU baru.

     However, from another perspective, to sustain political stability, we should always consider a smooth power transition. Tun has done a good job, in duly passing over to Pak Lah. Likewise, Pak Lah has also gently handed over to Najib. Now, Rakyat should also let Najib act on the mandate given by Rakyat, and plan for his successor.

145. Undi tidak percaya yang disuarakan bagi menurunkan Dato’ Sri Najib sebenarnya adalah satu strategi politik yang boleh dilihat daripada dua perspektif yang berbeza. Pertama, bagi Barisan Nasional khususnya UMNO, sama ada usul undi tidak percaya akan dapat menurunkan Najib atau tidak, kedua-duanya sebenarnya akan merugikan UMNO.

     Ini kerana usul undi tidak percaya terhadap Dato’ Sri Najib akan menambah parahkan lagi perpecahan dalam UMNO. Bukan mudah untuk mencapai satu kesepakatan ahli-ahli Parlimen UMNO yang mewakili 88 kerusi daripada 133 kerusi Parlimen yang dimenangi oleh Barisan Nasional pada PRU13 yang lepas. Realiti sekarang jelas menunjukkan masih ramai ahli-ahli Parlimen UMNO yang begitu kuat mempertahankan Dato’ Sri Najib.

     Ditambah pula tiada jaminan yang jelas daripada pihak pembangkang bahawa mereka akan menyokong usul undi tidak percaya terhadap Dato’ Sri Najib.

     I want to say some personal talk with you. Cause my family is oppressed by PHP Chairman Sufi Mizanur Rahman. In the past, our family was a solvent family of Bangladesh, but now we are losing our solvency only for various types of conspiracy of PHP Chairman Sufi Mizanur Rahman. He occupied our 107 acres of land by some forged land document in May 2005. So my father filed a case in Court. Previous case No. was 403/05 and now the number is CR 68/08. The CID police report of CR 68/08 is also in favour of us. The high court order about CR 68/08 is also in favour of us. Where High Court accused Sufi Mizanur Rahman & his evil allies & ordered for quick disposal of this case in lower court (Chittagong Chief Magistrate Court).

     My father S. M. Nazrul Islam is a well-known historian & rightist intellectual & columnist in our country. He has written already 6 books & he has many seminar papers. He is also an Editor of a Monthly Magazine Named Itihas Onnesha or Discover History in English (a history based Bengali Magazine). But, dear leader, I think you know that this time is very difficult for our rightist people in Bangladesh.

     PHP Chairman Sufi Mizanur Rahman & his evil allies tried many times to kill my father by various types of conspiracy.

     But now an arrest warrant issued by Chittagong Court against Sufi Mizanur Rahman & his 34 evil allies. Actually, we don’t want to fight-fight & fight against a “bandit” like Sufi Mizanur Rahman. We need a fair negotiation with him. But he doesn’t want it & want’s to destroy us by his evil black money power. Beause he founded his maximum industries by occupied others land & negotiated them low or cheap payment & here my father is different. So he is fighting against PHP Mizan during 10 years.

     My 2 cents. This blog has been turned into public bashing of Mohd Najib and his sycophants. Everybody has their points. IMHO what is most important is how Mohd Najib can be dethrone ASAP i.e. before the next election in 2 years. For the last 6 months, Malaysia has been turned from topsy-turvy. The economy is in decline, the value of ringgit is depreciating by the seconds, the cost of living has no choice but to go up. So Malaysia must be save urgently hence Mohd Najib has to go ASAP.
     IMHO, Tun needs to take the lead. Appoint and announce publicly your Champion.
     Im sure the masses will rally behind him. Let the leader and his team with Tun as the advisor, formulate the battle plan. But the plan must have a lifeline. Maybe 1 year. Form a think tank with people of similar interests, to look into all aspects from legal, constitution etc. on allowable ways to force Mohd Najib out. Street protest violence etc. should not be in the agenda.
     Then announce the battle plan so that the masses will be informed. If Plan A fails, we execute plan B, Plan C etc. until we exhausted all plans. If all plan fails then it means we have no choice but to wait until next election.
     Even the transparency of the next election may be doubtful as Mohd Najib favorite term – Cash is King.

166. What a shame… With the human and natural resources, fertile land, rich culture, good location free of natural disasters, Malaysia has so much potential. To be one of the Asian success stories. To be a shining example of a modern multiracial Islamic country, a country where it’s citizens could proudly proclaim to be Malaysian.

     I had high hopes during the administration of Tun. Tun did the right things: Modernization and industrialization of the economy. Tun’s projects like NSE highway, Proton, KLIA, MSC, and KLCC serves a purpose: which is to propel the country forward.

     However, what is happening today serves as a reminder that the strong leader cannot just focus on the infrastructure and outward things. Although infrastructure are important, he must place even greater focus on people. He first must fill his ministerial team and civil servants with people of integrity, integrity, caliber and courage. These people will do the right things even when he is no longer watching over them. He must also eliminate wrong culture and bad habits, even though it is unpopular and inconvenient.

     Without the right people in cabinet and civil service, all hard work, achievements and progress can be undone easily, as what we are witnessing today.

     I hope the livelihood of people will not deteriorate further.

     4. Umpama seseorang itu hidup berjemaah penuh kemegahan termasuk harta benda yang boleh di jual beli tetapi tidak sanggup hidup keseorangan dipinggir serta hilang segala kebendaan.

     5. Bayangkan bila kita keseorangan tampa sesiapa dan harta benda disekeliling kita. Hanya yang dapat menolong kita ialah amalan kebaikan tampa niat lain serta kebenaran dalam percakapan dan pekerjaan terutamanya yang diperintahkan oleh Allah s.w.t.

     6. Ini satu lagi contoh kesalahan kita manusia yang memberi kuasa kepada seorang ketua dan bukannya kepada undang-undang . Akhirnya undang-undang nampak tidak berkuasa kerana pendapat hanya datang dari seorang sahaja yang menidakkan kefahaman undang-undang secara majoriti.
