My response for Milshah and Sibotak.
It was clearly because Tun had lost the support of Bersatu party enbloc, the PH having lost the support of Bersatu party, and the likelihood sufficient number of Borneo MPs doing the same, that tipped the balance in favour of a change in government. Thus it was only natural for Tun to tender his resignation, as he also didn’t advise the King for the Parliament to be dissolved before he resigned. Tun acted according to the federal constitution. And the King also acted accordingly after that.
There is no way, with the razor-thin majority each coalition has in Parliament, that anyone can seize control (so to speak) of Parliament according to their personal or even party agenda. For instance, DSN cannot snap his finger to ask for TSMY supporting his bid to rid of the corruption charges facing him, because TSMY’s party can simply tip the majority back to the other side. Just as it won’t be easy for DAP to snap their finger to ask the NEP to be abolished because not only TSMY’s party won’t agree with it, but probably half of DSAI’s party won’t either(!) Definitely, the entire massive Borneo contingent of MPs are enough to bury DAP’s hidden agenda even before baking time.
That’s the role of party-hopping.. to protect simple common sense when you least expect the voters to do it for the country at the general elections. In any case, the King can appoint anyone he wishes as long as he believes the person has a majority support in the Dewan Rakyat, and that I can tell you is an open-ended question in Westminster-style democracy. Then you also have the armed forces whose head is the King himself.

Allow me to comment sibotak. I agree with you at first it looks a good, malay government in control. Finally we a goverment that supposed to fight for relegion, race and country.At first at least. But then you can see UMNO making lots of demands. Remember they have the thanos power, one snap, goverment collapse. So how do you expect Muhyiddin to allow justice to prevail. If Najib and Zahid don’t vote for Muhyiddin, government will collapse. Theory nice. But when you face with jail term, you will go all out to save yourself. Now you see Riza Aziz, discharge not amounting to acquital. You say Muhyiddin need to ensure justice but before you say it justice already not prevail. How to support?

Interesting to know that the super-jumbo A380 jets of national carrier Malaysia Airlines are actively utilised as transport planes for PPEs or personal protective equipment against the Covid-19 disease worldwide. At least this will buy a bit of time to ponder on how to turn around the cash-draining airline that is such a national icon since my childhood (I flew on its B747s three times a year on its London-KL route as a teenager).
It’s not all the fault of Malaysia Airlines that got it into financial trouble. It’s partly the fault of the government, for allowing Air Asia to fly MAS’s domestic routes. Of course, no legacy carrier like MAS (let alone Singapore Airlines) can compete with budget carriers. It’s simply not a level playing field anymore.. it’s a no brainer. There’s only so much the airline can cut cost without losing its status as a luxury airline. Then there is no point of having a national carrier anymore if Malaysia Airlines is to disappear, is there(?!) Because that’s whole point of a national carrier.. KLM, Air France, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Saudi Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, et ectera. It’s a symbol of NATIONAL PRIDE.
To protect it is much more than just a business proposition. It needs to be protected via real tangible protection from its domestic predators like Air Asia. It is NOT a level playing field at the moment. That’s the fault of the government that allowed Air Asia to operate the way it is today. I believe this happened during the first prime minister who succeeded Tun after Tun stepped down in the early 2000’s.
Something must be done to level the playing field. Otherwise, Air Asia will take control of its last remaining competitor, Malaysian consumers will be worse off as a result, and the country will have lost its national icon.. forever(!)
