SOUND BITES – GRAFFITI, X’MAS & DEVELOPMENT

GRAFFITI

1. Dirtying and defacing the walls and buildings with writings and drawings is not a Malaysian culture.

2. But Malaysians as usual like to copy everything that is done by Europeans. It is part of their inferiority complex. Defacing public property seen in Europe and Latin America is now being taken up. Kuala Lumpur which has spent a lot of public money to clean and beautify is now being defaced with ugly graffiti.

3. Unchecked this alien culture will negate all the efforts of beautifying our cities and towns. I have noticed that where this abuse is common city authorities stop trying to clean and beautify their cities. Their attitude seem to be if people like a dirty ugly city why bother to clean and beautify it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

1. Christmas is just around the corner. The shopping complexes have already decorated the malls and soon we will be hearing the familiar Christmas songs.

2. I would like to wish the Christian visitors to my blog and to all Christians in Malaysia a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

DEVELOPMENT

1. I have been visiting several countries lately. Some are developed. Some are developing.

2. It strikes me that it will be good if we send groups of young and educated people to those countries which achieved independence together with us. This is because young people were born and they grew up long after independence and cannot possibly know the Malaysia before independence or even in the early years of independence.

3. Perspectives and perceptions are what colour our thinking. Most people are reluctant to go to poor countries. If we go only to rich developed countries then our perceptions would not be correct.

  1. Dear Tun, salam perayaan hujung tahun moga sihat sejahtera sekeluarga. Kiriman saya untuk tajuk ini dgn izin…
    ……………..MERRY X’MAS
I wish all Malaysians a very merry and joyous Christmas and that everyone is blessed with good fortune during this festive cheer.
Religion is more about changing yourself than changing others which is indoctrination. Religion understands diversity, extremism is intolerant of others. Religion is fair, just and a supreme practice, while bigotry is supremacy of a believer.
    ……………..LOVE THY COUNTRY
Graffiti is the work of people who have no love or pride for their country. But here it is the critics of Umno policies who are condemned so.
    ……………..INDEPENDENCE VISIT
Make sure the visit includes Japan, Taiwan, Korea which also achieved freedom about the same time, not just African or south Asian countries. We should be thankful but not docile.
Always looking back helps you remember the road travelled, but may cause you to trip and fall, unable to continue the journey! There is nothing to learn from poor countries, just a reminder of what you will be if you mess up.

  2. Dearest Tun,
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate Christmas.
I agree with Tun on the idea of sending our young and educated people to

  3. Assalamualaikum Tun Yang Amat Dihormati,

  4. i agree in ‘Graffti’ is not originally Malaysian’s culture, like our beloved, Tun Mahathir said, its concepts ‘import’ from Europeans. Doing graffiti is part of vandalisme in Malaysia law bt what’s the reason of doing it? These people have talent in art but seems they like challenges very much, especialy the law. No offense, this is everyone’s mindset, breaking the law is fun and laws are made to been broken.
This is how they spread their emotion by painting the wall because what they’ve been doing is resticted and wrong, so they decided to impressed people by showing off their skills with painting on the wall…

  5. Salam TUN,
apakah kita rela mengatakan kalau nak kaya jangalah kerja kerajaan.
    saya sedih tun.saya amat sedih.
saya belajar sehingga menara gading kerana ingin hidup senang
sesugguhnya saya amat menyayangi UMNO dan bangsa melayu.FROM ALOR STAR KEDAH
untuk ORANG-ORANG RAPAT DENGAN PAK NAJIB TOLONG HIGHLIGHTKAN BENDA INI, JANGAN NANTI NASI SUDAH MENJADI BUBUR TERGIN PULAK NAK MAKAN NASI.
    SEKIAN WASALAM

  6. YABhg Tun,
…these people with lots of energy and plenty of time should be picking up rubbish instead!! Thats’ creativity for you!!

  7. Dear Tun Mahathir,
Malaysians are a smart bunch. Comparing ourselves to Nigeria or Indonesia (with respect to both these countries, they too have tremendous potential) and feeling good on how far we’ve come is weak. Jaguh kampung mentality. We must strive to always do better. You are an example of a smart Malaysian and you know this well. In fact youve said this many times before. Its no secret.
Thats why Malaysians are unhappy. We know something stinks in our own garden. Its racism and corruption.. As the head of the government for many decades, the blame will ultimately fall onto your office. With great power comes great responsibility. How did you perform?
    Kind regards,
    Dhssraj

  8. Salam Tun,
How in the world is Malaysia keeping not one but two fighter planes without the engines.Let us showcase these 2 fighters plane infront of our PM office in PutraJaya so that it can be remembered by our future generation years to come (even when you and me are no more around)as to how corrupt our Defence administrators are. This must be the joke of the year. Most likely, such crime is normally being done by people in the under-developed countries…….not developing country, namely Malaysia. It’s only being disclosed to the public after 2 sordid years it had gone missing.
This is like robbing a safe vault at the police station.Somebody is gonna get into hell of a problem!!!!!This really insult our intelligent.Even an idiot wouldn’t dare to be this bold to do such a silly thing.Sorry if my language sound harsh but I couldn’t help it to know such kind of person/group still exist and we here with high hope expect investors to be wooed into our beloved country;MALAYSIA.Ruling coalition is heading for their doomsday. That’s one sad thing that I forsee and eventhough it’s bitter to swallow, that’s the fact that I am seeing it as.

  9. Assalamualaikum Tun,

  10. Asalamulaikum….
mungkin ceq salah menelah…..di sebalik coretan bapak mengenai grafiti yg tersiratnya adalah berkenaan kehilangan enjin kapai tu..
rasanya bukan satu yg hilang mungkin dua tiga kucing berlari….
takkan yg pangkat kuli batak yg p bawak n juai enjin tu….
tapi takto gak kalo depa ni pun ada kabel diluar yg baaaaaik punya tebai……depa ni patut diberi anugerah istimewa….BUANG NEGARA…
    BUANG KERAKYATAN…

  11. tun,
waiting for your comment on last convention of p0akatan rakyat.
    2) your comment on each political party highest leader speech on pakatan policy?
3)how serious of their threat to bn?
    looking forward on your comment.

Mereka yang suka buat macam ni memang sakit jiwa to the extreme and lacking self confidence to the least.
Nak perbetulkan masalah ni, kita perlu extreme measures.. as I always believe, to the ORIENTALS (YANG HAK DEGIL2 DAN BERMASALAH NI), KALAU NAK SURUH MEREKA BUAT SESUATU YANG BAIK KEKADANG PERLU TREAT DIA ORANG LIKE LEMBU YANG DICUCUK HIDUNG… DIASUH TAK IKUT, DIAJAR TAK FAHAM, DIKERAH MELAWAN…SO KENA SEBAT BELAKNG DIA ORANG DENGAN CEMETI DAN DIDEPAN TARIK TALI YANG DIMUNCUNG LEMBU TU…BARU LAH DIA BERGERAK DAN MENGIKUT KATA….
    WAHT SAY U TUN?

  14. Salam Tun Sekeluarga,
I visited India lately to Airasia’s new destinations. I realized many Malaysian’s do travel to see the country of their ancestors. Flights are full and I am sure the visit is a window to compare our progress with that of India. I felt lucky to have been born in Malaysia. I wish my friends visiting India will not learn the culture of vandalism, defacing of street walls, pasting of posters everywhere, littering anywhere, spiting to every direction but begin to appreciate what we have achieved as nation and help to keep the country progressing. Thank you Tun for keeping us ahead. God bless you and the family.
    Best Regards
    Phoon

    Amin.

  16. Tun yang dihormati.
I believe that many people in our country unable to accept the graffity is art. This is actually part of the vandalisme culture from west country. they will ruin our beauty environment.
For zaq25, what happend to you actually.. What is your problem? Pls respect to the person who lead our country with success for over 20 years. Do not compare our Tun with other leaders.

  17. Salam Tun & fellow CheDet bloggers,
Who is this zaq25 guy? such a jerk and why you allow his comment to be published here? Well may be for all to see what type of a person you are and not as what they have been saying bad about you, as dictator etc.
My conclusion he is a man of unsound mind ( pl check with Tanjung Rambutan, anybody missing from there or he was a former guest?). Catch him before he causes injury to others.
I strongly support points raised by A.Alshukor 21Dec.
    1. Such an exchange program with third world or developing countries( maybe in line with Peace Corp in the 60’s )should be the best way to place Malaysia in the good picture.
    2. Also focussing on enforcement agencies tasks & responsibilites that need to be greatly improved. They need to wake up. We have enough laws but lack enforcement render our laws useless. I am not so sure about his suggestion on starting the brainstorming session will take-off or not but with right leader it will and Tun may perhaps can initiate it. NGOs should get actively involved to check the performamnce of the enforcement agencies. Insyaallah we will progress for the better.
Also, I strongly support points raised by the Hidden Secret 21 Dec.
The goverment must really sitdown to work closely on those issue. If they are sincere with god-fearing mind, we can be better of in future. I am really worried that most politicians spent too much politicking even after months of the election, to the extend neglecting their duties/works and trust upon them by the people who voted them into office. Recent passing of budget fiasco is a very good example. It is a wake-up call for all in the government. The people will not forgive the ruling party in the next general election if this trend is maintained.
    May Allah bless us all

  18. Sala’am dearest Tun & fellow bloggers,
Reading the articles submitted by some bloggers in this blog and other so called news & views portal, it’s clear that these people are full of vengeance and hatred. These people act as if they are championing the people when in actual fact are trying to create disunity among the citizens especially the Malays.
Be vary my fellow brethens, we the Greatful Malaysians shall not waver nor falter from our goals and determination set forth by our beloved Tun nor our present leaders.
Be alert and read in-between the lines, beneath their motives dwells sinister agenda. To Tun and the present regime, whilst doing good theres bound to be some black sheep amongst us. Please proceed and take us Malaysians to victory.
    Rapatkan barisan umat-ku.

  20. Assalamualaikum Warahmaitullahiwabarakatuh
Salam dan Selamat buat Yang Amat Berbahagia Ayahanda Tun Dr Mahathir dan Bonda Tun Dr Siti Hasmah
    GRAFFITI
Masih selamatkan negara bilamana sistem keselamatan kita dilihat kini mudah dilolosi (berapa ramai PATI kini?
Saya bersetuju dengan penulisan Mariam Mokhtar dalam artikel ‘who defends the Ministry of Defence?/ Siapa mempertahankan Kementerian Pertahanan?’.

Merry Christmas to all belated Malaysians!

  22. salam tun…
    ku sangka satu..

nasib baik tak tiga cekk..(enjin jet kena jual)

  23. Assalamualaikum Tun.
    MENJENAYAHKAN PERANG
Pada minggu Persidangan Menjenayahkan Perang, saya berada berdekatan dengan PWTC tetapi tak sempat nak singgah.
Sebenarnya saya hati kecik saya berkata,”apa kata kita pakat rancang serang Israel?”

    ya,ada sesetengahnya yang masih baru terlibat dalam gejala vandalisma akan tetapi tidak manislah kalau dituding kesemua jari kearah kami kesemuanya..ia masih lagi dalam proses pengenalan graffiti tempatan yang ingin deserap mengikut suasana malaysia.kami juga tidak terlibat dalam vandalisma yang ekstrim seperti yang berlaku dinegara2 barat.contohnya;
    1:menconteng stesen keretapi
    2:menconteng rumah2 awam(harta persendirian)
    3:mencuri spray can dikedai2.
    4:menconteng2 ditunnel2.
    5:terlibat dalam politik.

  25. YAB Tun,
Assalamualaikum, Selamat Sejahtera and a very good morning.
Firstly, Happy Birthday. May Allah SWT bless you with continued good health.
Allow me Tun to advise that God’s creature by the name of ‘zaq 25’. Whoever you are, whether you are a Malaysian or a foreigner, you are not welcome to put your thought in this blog and it would be better for you to keep your hatred of our greatest statesman to yourself.
If you happened to be a Malaysian, please find another country to migrate, however, if you are a foreigner, please leave Malaysia and never to come back, because you are not welcome here.
Your brain is so clogged up with thrash and s..t, so much so you could not think straight. Please go home to where you came from, menyemak je!
On Graffiti, if it is planned, I supposed its okay. I remember the walls of Pudu Jail used to have nice Graffiti painted by inmates. Those graffiti painted by ‘volunteers’ at wrong places are not welcomed and they are an eyesore.
Marry Christmas to fellow bloggers who are celebrating Christmas and a Happy New Year to all fellow bloggers.
I fully agree with Tun that we should send our young people to visit fellow developing countries who achieved their independence around the same time like us. Priority should be given to visiting our close neighbours such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
I would recommend the Philippines, specifically Mindanao. Please send groups such as the Youth Wings of political parties ( Putera and Puteri UMNO etc ). Let them stay in the interior for one week. See and experience for themselves how these people go about their everyday lives. But please don’t send them to the cities such as Davao City, General Santos City or Zamboanga City. Send them to Maguindanao Province where the Ampatuans used to be in control…
Once they have experienced the life there, they will forever be thankful that they were born in this blessed country called Malaysia.
Belated Selamat Tahun Baru Hijrah 1431 and Selamat Tahun Baru Masehi 2010, semoga YAB Tun dan Tun Siti Hasmah sentiasa dirahmati Allah SWT hendakNya.

  26. Salam Tun
I believe grafitti originated from the ‘low-class streets’ of America where the ‘blacks’ with nothing to do, decided to spend their free time painting the walls of their desolate towns. They probably have the excuse that their ‘paintings’ help to ‘beautify’ the bare walls which they find to be unexciting and boring.
Graffiti should be stopped now before more and more of our KL buildings are painted upon because the paint take time to be removed by the DBKL workers. The main prevention policy is to use night surveillance (probably use the police or volunteer workers) to do the rounds and catch these culprits.
I agree with you that many of our local students prefer to go to developed countries like US and UK because of the clean and orderly and peaceful surroundings to live in and many places to see, compared to third world countries like Laos or Vietnam or Africa or even Middle East. However some 3rd world countries can also be beautiful like Bosnia Herzevogina. I believe everyone prefer to go to Los Angeles or London, rather than Loas or Cambodia or Bangladesh. Tepuk dada, tanya selera…

  27. what’s is your problem, Zaq25…??? you always comparing Dr M with the other world famous leaders…if you dont want to discuss the main issue that had been brought up by Dr M here(grafity), dont bring other issue… its so annoying…
If you said that Dr M is not well known through out the world. then i will ask you….do you know who is the president of people’s republic of china(without checking the internet),the world leader of1/6 of human population…?? who is the prime ministre of japan, world second largest economy..?
if you dont know, then you r just the same with the issue-blind westerners…
FYI, im studying in japan now and i found a couple of people who know Dr M and respect him more than their own PM…

  30. Dear Tun,
Just to let you know that you’re always a great leader to me & I’m always proud of you eventhough you’re no longer the PM of Malaysia.
I’m now working overseas and most of my colleagues from other countries know you and talk about the good things that you have done not only for Malaysia but also for other 3rd world countries.
(My comment to zaq25’s comment .. wake up, grow up & stop making nonsense..!)

Akibatnya, bandar kelihatan kotor.
    6. Pada hemah saya, mereka yang bertingkahlaku sedemikian are uncouthed and uncivilised and a total disgrace to society.

  32. YABhg Tun ‘
I rememberred in the early 80’s mural paintings on walls were popular and ‘street artist’grew like mushroom in central market and pudu. Sad to say that the present ‘artist’ have diverted from its original objective and turn to be nuisance ! It was a kind of benovalent and vibrant feeling among young students like us those years in a transition towards abolishing english stream education to a full bahasa. Sarawak and Sabah follow suit few years after and it was a joke when our beloved literature teacher told us that if we fail that final year we have to repeat it in East Malaysia. It was a little touching to get adjusted to bahasa then but we were proud to be the last badge to have most subjects in english as some of us now are top engineers and master of their own trade not forgetting existing high achivers like DS Idris Jala and TS Munir…!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !

  33. Assalamualaikum Tokdet, moga sejahtera bersama keluarga tercinta.
I just want to share my thoughts on your very topic about being grateful. I graduated from UK and I’m quite familiar with Europe environment, thanks to our government policy on education. After I came back I started to compare and my mind was filled with a lot of modern days propaganda and I started to slowly being ungrateful with Malaysia. After a while I worked with my current company and for the past 3 years I have been frequently sent to India for assignments. Learning how India has gain their independence earlier than us but with the low quality of living standard there, now I know how lucky I am for being a Malaysian. We manage to improve our living standards earlier than them but what most importantly is that we belong here. This is OUR country, syukur Alhamdullillah and thanks Tokdet.

  34. Good morning Ayahanda Tun,
    GRAFFITI
Conteng(-conteng)on walls is not our culture, and it’s an alien culture to us. Yes, people, not only Malaysians, tend to have the habit (alien culture) of copying others without knowing our strenghts and weaknesses, and this could post threats and dangers to Malaysia, Corporations and Individuals. Unchecked this alien culture will negate all the efforts of beautifying our cities and towns, and if the authority concerned have the attitude of “if people like a dirty ugly city why bother to clean and beautify it”, because the money and properties belong to A Gong (Government), they will be left out in next election…It is either “you know your paid resposibilities” or you don’t, if the government authorithy doesn’t know their paid responsibilties, send them for “PILOT” course initiated by PM Najib, and it will help provided the heads of department are willing to learn with the downlines. Just a note to the civil servants (seniors and juniors), please don’t make “rakyat” to take the “drastic step” by terminating you… if you resist from changing your “tidak apa” attitude before next PRU.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Tun. I am celebrating Christmas tis year eventhough I am not a Christian.. White Chocolate was (and is still) my favourite Christmas goodies when I was in US..”White Chocolate (imported from US) White Snow..” Christmas celebration in Western World will be full of prayers due to massive snowing, and Europe has reported death toll of 50 people so far…due to climate change…. and May God Bless Them…..
    DEVELOPMENT
Majority of our Malaysians who have travelled in developing and developed countries will vote Malaysia is still the best because Malaysia is our “Home”.
Good day and let us “re-enjoy” the Christmas spirit in Malaysia…. Forgive and Forget so that we can re-build our TRUST among all races.. and for those Hypocriptes….. they better watch out because RAKYAT are watching them closely, and REMEMBER, You play politics, Rakyat will vote you out because you guys are sleeping day dreaming your Kuasa and Wealth by stepping on the Kepala Rakyat.NO MORE Repeat of financial crisis in 1997…… For those who cannot sabar in BN, please join PR…..and this is “Democracy”, an “alien culture” introduced and implemented by Tun Lah whe he was the 5th PM..

  35. Tun
1/ Agreed – regardless if it’s a “culture” in European or Western World as you put it Tun, Graffiti and defacing property is a bad and unhealthy habit and if left to prolong, can not only affect the image of the country but also cost us lots of money to remedy.
Perpetrators and would be perpetrators must be thought that it does not pay to vandalise. I propose the laws remain strict and anyone caught vandalising is both given the cane as well locked up in solitary confinement.
2/ Christmas – I wish all Malaysians (regardless of their ethnicity or religious background) happy Holidays. We are truly fortunate that Malaysians can celebrate all holidays regardless of our spiritual belief. Someone asked me recently what is my religious belief – I was about to reply Hindu, and then realised, that I am actually fortunate to have the foundation to have cross-religious believes. And that is only because I think, the road to God is many-fold. We just need to lose our inhabition that only our singular belief is the correct one.
And as Malaysians, we have the perfect fabric to subscribe to a harmonised spritual approach to God.
3/ Development – agreed 100% to this thought Tun. We must not be afraid of looking to development by experiencing time in a developing environment.
I am recently working on an initiative in Ghana, which gives me the ideal opportunity to see how life in the other side of the world copes with all the challenges of the GFC.
And I recognise the people in Ghana are resilient, more resilient than some of the more developed parts of the world because of their ability to do more with less.
We/Malaysia needs to become a less wasteful and more efficient country.
While it’s nice to think of grand development plans, our development must become more sustainable in nature, not just looking asthetically pretty.
I hope the Govt of PM Najib will strive to work on strategies that will lead Malaysia to improving lifestyle as well core values of Malaysians at large.
Wishing you Tun a peaceful life.

    sungguh mendukacitakan..:(
Tun bercerita tentang Muslim Unity tetapi lupakan ucapan Maal Hijrah..Tak sentuh pun..:(
    Sekian..Ribuan Terima Kasih Tun..

I do agree that young people like me should go to the developing countries or not so progress. Then we will appreciate what we have and what we can do.
Unfortunately young people like me did not have the chance to make it. That’s why i take the chance to submit the gaza proposal to you because i think Gaza is the best place for young people to visit because there is a lot of lessons we can take from the place.
Hope you can consider the proposal.

  40. Tun Mahathir,
    Salam Dengan sepenuh hormat,
Jika Tun memegang kayu ukur nya, bolehkah Tun membuat penilaian pencapaian kita sahingga kini. Are we on tract ?

  41. Ya, pernah saya berada di negara membangun seperti kita tapi masih jauh ketinggalan berbanding Malaysia walaupun lebih dulu merdeka daripada kita.
Selepas 4 tahun pulang ’98 ke Malaysia (anda bayangkan) saya hanya sujud syukur banyak2.

  42. As’kum Tun. Saya peminat Tun dr pulau pinang. Ingin sgt2 nak berjumpa.

  43. setuju 100% dengan pernyataan yang paling akhir.
try experience the poor country you ungrateful, thick headed fools.

  44. Dear Tun,
Salam Awal Muharram, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
I just want to relate one instant relating you during your premiership. You were on your way to International Subang Airport then, saw one dirty rotten shoe at the roundabout near the airport. After coming back from overseas few days after, the shoe still there. One or two week after, you noticed the same shoe was still there. Sad to say that no one seemed to bother removing the shoe away from there, until you ticked off the agency concerned, to take necessary action. It took the Prime Minister to point out one simple thing like this which was so important the first impression on the image of our country on overseas visitors coming out from the airport. That was why anyone wanted to see you, must be well prepared because even the tilted lamp post on the street in town you take note. You are what you were, work by walk no matter what you are. Hope that our present leaders can emulate this habit.

  45. Tun budak zaman sekarang terikut cara barat yang negative patutnya mereka bersyukur menjadi rakyat malaysia yang berbilang kaum hidup aman damai cuma sengelintir rakyat malaysia yang berpenting politik sahaja suka tengok malaysia kucar-kacir dan tidak aman
    sekian dari dubai

  46. SELAMAT HARI ULANG TAHUN KELAHIRAN KE 84 SEMOGA DIPANJANGKAN UMUR, DIKURNIAKAN KESIHATAN YANG BAIK DAN TERUSKAN PERJUANGAN YANG BELUM SELESAI.

  47. There are people who put graffiti at a higher pedestal purportedly as a means of expression. But defacing of public places is a form of vandalism which need to be overcome.
However, the main graffiti maker is the government authorities themselves. They put up too many signs and (huge) bill boards everywhere and anywhere they like as such they can be classified graffiti. The billboards may obstruct good scenery apart from waste of money.
We see singage of various sizes and heights in a haphazard manner along the road especially at junctions to business centres. Kajang is noted for this kelam-kabut . There should be a ruling and system on setting up the signs. Or is it the more singage the more money for the Majlis Bandaran.
Stray dogs are putting much visual and odorifous graffiti on the roads. The Majlis Bandarans have failed to act on this matter unlike during the British time. In New Zealand only sheep dogs are allowed.
We have been numbed by habits especially the bad ones. We stay glued to TV but would not pick up the good points and development of other countries.
Our sense of national belonging and civic consciousness need to be intensified through all-round measures continously for the young and old! First and foremost clean up the government and politics.

  48. GRAFFITI… I also spent a lot of money and time to painting/clean around my house. Now, I am thinking about CCTV.
To all Christians I wish Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all malaysian.

  49. Salam Bahagia Tun,
Mengapa baru sekarang timbul isu enjin jet pejuang F5E sedangkang kehilangan enjin berkenaan berlaku semasa najib menjadi menteri pertahanan.

Aminnn

  51. Regarding the matter of graffiti, it seems to happen long way back since 80’s. Carrying a big radio on their shoulders and a can of spray in their hand prove that they have been visiting Europe even if they are ‘incapable’. The strange you are, the more respect you gain. What a culture cultivated in our generation.
Basically, there are many more opportunity should be offer to the students. The suggestion to send the young generation to those country in order to enlighten them about the history and make them think for their future is obviously a great intention. Knock their head with the history book should make them awake, however, it has to be continue with several aspect such as leadership.
I am propose that Perdana Leadership Foundation can establish some small clubs under it and offering the students a platform to the future thinking and planning. Thank you.

  52. Dear Tun Dr M,
Defacing, burning, dirtying and destroying public and private property is an act of moronic and barbaric behavior. This particular culture has been there through out the world irrespective of the nation and community. To eradicate this, we need to have severe punishment for those who flout the law and its enforcement.

  53. salam tun…

  54. To TUN DR.MAHATHIR:
I have been nominated as a delegate to represent my generation at the One Young World Summit. This is the largest youth leadership summit in the world. Because I have proven myself as a young leader I will be travelling to London in February 2010 to discuss 6 key issues with 1499 other young leaders from across the world. The organizers are aiming to have every country represented, proportional to population. I am proud to be representing MALAYSIA.
The One Young World Summit will be a platform for the brightest and best of the next generation of world leaders to make their voices heard on a global stage. Kofi Annan, Desmond Tutu and Bob Geldof are just three of the counselors who will be running the sessions. Resolutions will be created in six key areas: the environment, politics, business, religion, healthcare and the media and will act as a youth response to conferences such as Copenhagen.
One Young World is 100% not for profit. We are all required to raise

  55. Assalaamualaikum again Ayahanda Tun,

How’s your great admiree Mandela? You dont know right? That’s because he hasn’t seen you in a long time. Because he’s busy attending all his concerts in New York and London. He has also recently made new friends too, like Gordon Brown, Gordon Ramsay (the TV show Hell’s Kitchen, Sarkozy and his bloody girlfriend Bruni. He has also met up with many old ones too such as Clinton and Will Smith. No time to meet you though.
Chirac should have no problem meeting you though. He has just finished his memoirs and have plenty of time at hand. That big zero.

  57. Assalaamualaikum Ayahanda Tun,
For some unknown reasons, today is my lucky day because I’M THE FIRST! I don’t have anything else in mind to say yet but I’ll be back soon since I had just signed up for this only a few minutes ago owing to the fact.
May Allah s.w.t. bless you and your entire family always.

  58. Dear respectable Tun Dr Mahathir.
I wish you a happy belated birthday 20th Dec.
May all the auspicious and best of health be with you & your family always.
Your contribution to Malaysia cannot be measured in short.
Keep it up with your good afford.
Always remember – Keep moving forward.
    Sincerely yours,
    Gilbert

  59. Dear Tun,
Don’t you think that this is art. The question is most of the time it is actually nice and creative. Well sure some just like to “CONTENG – CONTENG”, but if you care to really evaluate some, depicts quite an interesting reflection.
My point is … however, to create those “GRAFITY” it takes time and somehow none in authority seems to be around. Is it just they are busy with so many other “chores” or they just have an attitude of “close one eye”.
On another note, we have so many agencies with their own “enforcement officers” and this group of people have specific jurisdictions, more are being spent on salaries and allowances and yet most of the time actual functions are not being perform.
PDRM should be the ultimate enforcement group, now JPJ, MACC, PBT enforcement (DBKL,MBSA etc). Don’t forget all the state Islamic Officer (JAIS, JAWI JAIP, ….).
If you look around, and that is definately true, things does not get any better. The young people are becoming more “kurang ajar”, the Mat Rempit(Some are labelling them Samseng Jalanan), are playing around with the polis. Is it so difficult to catch this thugs ….. I wonder????
On your point about sending young people to Countries that got their independent about the same time as us, yes why not. It will be possible if you take the lead by setting up something like an ‘EXCHANGE PROGRAMME” through Yayasan Kepimpinan Perdana.
If you are agreeable, I would like to volunteer as we create a “Brainstorming” session to get the ball rolling. Probably some of chedetblog follower will be interested as well.

  60. Salam Tun & Fellow Chedet Bloggers,
I want also to wish everybody Merry Christmas and Happy & Prosperous New Year.
I fully agree that GRAFFITI is not our culture and allowing it in this country will be abused — jadi macam monyet diberi bunga nanti. However, those painting on the wall of Pudu Prison by the inmates was fantastic but that is not graffiti. If official ban is imposed, I believe there will protest and accuse the ruling as suppression of free expression. Therefore, it must be done subtly.
On the question of developement, the government should consider student exchange programme with those of the developing countries. By this way, we will be able to promote Malaysia & its multi- cultural society background which can be mutually beneficial to both, may be similar as that was implemented by US in the 60’s. Why to the developing and not developed countries? by adopting that approach, our students will be able to contribute knowledge and cultural understanding to the other counter parts. Otherwise our student will suffer the feeling of inferiority complex further if confronted with those in advanced or developed countries the reverse effect will take place. ( ok to go to Advanced & developing countries for acquiring technical and scientific knowledge but not cultural ). This kind of program will place Malaysia in good picture to the world.
Hope the government will pick this up as a complementary to BTN.

  61. Just ship them (the young & educated) to Indonesia. That would be enough I reckon..
