1. Langkawi will see yet another international sports event from 6th to 8th August. This is not the Le Tour de Langkawi but this time the event, the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2010, will be held entirely in Langkawi.
2. There will be participants from 16 countries including Malaysians. Others are from neighbouring Asian countries, Europe as well as from South Africa. It promises to be an exciting race and will be covered fully by the media.
3. I hope Malaysians will not miss this sporting event while enjoying the delights of Langkawi and tax-free shopping as well.
4. Come join the fun!

Salam Tun.

http://www.muenchen.de/verticals/Traffic_Transport/Biking/2_Bike_Lanes_Tours/229489/index.html
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11701.aspx
Excerpt from MVV Munich website :
Easy orientation at stops or in vehicles via visual and audio means or displays; also, some audio warnings of closing doors, wide doors for easy access, EXTRA SPACES FOR wheelchairs, buggies and BICYCLES as well as a means for contacting the conductor at a height suitable for wheelchair users.
http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home/service/mvvbarrier-free/serviceoffers/index.html

Sekian.
kuthe2, I can’t speak for Christianity, but in Islam we have both, proof and faith; one simply has to ask to learn more.
After all these years, sadly, Langkawi is still not world class. From rude taxi drivers to dirty eateries, that also overcharge customers, we have wasted precious time by doing the wrong things based on someone’s whims and fancies. Some of the projects, like the flying academy has come and gone, which begs a question: why was it there in the first place? I feel that in the initial period, it was “anything goes” without any master plan or vision as to how we would like the island to be. To Malaysians , there is nothing much to do there, except buy some crockeries and sarongs. The “duty free” prices are higher than those at normal outlets in the mainland and all this is because of non existent enforcement. Even the dirty toilets are left as they are because those in power, whether they are civil servants or politicians, find it demeaning to make surprise checks.
All in all, we have wasted maybe twenty years of lackadaisical attitude towards this beautiful island, which deserves much much better.
SALAM, TUN

A VERY INTERESTING CONVERSATION
An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the
Problem Science has
With GOD , the ALMIGHTY. He asked one of his New Christian Students to
stand and . . .
Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, you Believe in GOD ?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is GOD Good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor : Is GOD ALL – POWERFUL ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to
Heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD
didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent )
Professor : You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, Young
Fella.
Is GOD Good?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Is Satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor : Where does Satan come from ?
Student : From . . . GOD . . .
Professor : That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make
everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor : So who created evil ?
(Student did not answer)
Professor : Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness?
All these terrible things exist in the World, don’t
they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, who Created them ?
(Student ha d no answer)
Professor : Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and
Observe the World around you. Tell me, son . . . Have you ever See n GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Tell us if you have ever Heard your GOD?
Student : No , sir.
Professor : Have you ever Felt your GOD , Tasted your GOD , Smelt your
GOD ? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor : Yet you still Believe in HIM?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol,
Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes, Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor : Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn’t..
(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events )
Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat,
Mega Heat, White Heat,
a Little Heat or No Heat.
But we don’t have anything called Cold.
We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat,
but we can’t go any further after that.
There is no such thing as Cold.
Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of
Heat.
We cannot Measure Cold.
Heat is Energy.
Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the
Absence of it.
(There was Pin-Drop Silence in the Lecture Theatre )
Student : What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as
Darkness?
Professor : Yes. What is Night if there isn’t Darkness?
Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of
Something
You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light . .
. But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and
its called Darkness, isn’t it? In reality, Darkness isn’t. If it
is, were you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn’t you?
Professor : So what is the point you are making, Young Man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
Professor : Flawed ? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue
there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD. You are
viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure.
Sir, Science can’t even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and
Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.
To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that
Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing.
Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it
Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from
a Monkey?
Professor : If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process,
yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where
the Argument was going )
Student : Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at
work and Cannot even prove that this Process is an On-Going Endeavor,
Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir?
Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?
(The Class was in Uproar )
Student : Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the
Professor’s Brain?
(The Class broke out into Laughter )
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s
Brain, Felt it, touched or Smelt it? . . .
No one appears to have done so.
So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable
Protocol, Science says that You have No Brain, sir. With all due
respect, sir, how do we then Trust your Lectures, sir?
(The Room was Silent. The Professor stared at the Student, his face
unfathomable)
Professor : I guess you’ll have to take them on Faith, son.
Student : That is it sir . . . Exactly !
The Link between Man & GOD is FAITH.
That is all that Keeps Things Alive and Moving.
NB:
I believe you have enjoyed the Conversation . . . and if so .. .
You’ll probably want your Friends / Colleagues to enjoy the same . . .
won’t you?
Forward them to Increase their Knowledge . . . or FAITH.
That student was Albert Einstein.

Sdr.pakbelalang,
We are all for your suggestions especially the Golf course..mana lah tahu dapat bermain satu ‘flight’ dengan Tiger Woods dalam Pro-Am Tournament…in dreamland, eh? But we are afraid that your ideas too may just remain in dreamland as the current administrators appear more interested to build their own ‘fantasy’ Island…
Take good care.
ALFATIHAH, AMIN.
Ps. One of our sons travelled to Langkawi last nite to promote a hotel for the forthcoming sporting event.
Beloved Tun,
I believe Langkawi has it all in terms of facilities, including for sports, which is one of the many reasons why it earned the GEOPARK status from UNESCO in June 2007. But the world-class LISRAM is underutilised and should be opened to public via a shooting club/association. A world-class golf course called ’99East’ is in the making at Bukit Malut, (should have been completed). As this is a state-initiated privatised project maybe Tun can get a briefing update from the DO.
All in all, I still believe that Langkawi should be promoted as a nature-based tourist destination along the lines of the international branding it earned through the UNESCO-proclaimed LANGKAWI GEOPARK that encompasses all 99 (104) islands of Langkawi exhibiting excellence in geo-diversity, bio-diversity and cultural heritage (community participation). As opposed to stringent development rulings under UNESCO world heritage, geoparks under the Global Geoparks Network actually encourages development that benefits the socioeconomy, thereby encouraging internal self-discipline towards sustainability, rather than externally imposed.
Thank you.
Dear Pak Belalang,
Your ideas are excellent but Langkawi should remain as it is….This is where the beauty of Langkawi lies. Langkawi is like 8th wonders of the world right now and once this developed to be more commercialised it looses its beauty. Furthermore if we encourage development here than automatically corruption exist as you see what is happening to PKFZ, Maika and many more which causes the tax payers money worth 100 billions of ringgit…We are not sure if our current government can get hold of all the culprits who swindles all the rakyat’s money and get the money back. Until we see someone charged and convicted than only the rakyat’s confidence over this government will be come back. Till then we should leave it as it is and let the mother nature be there for all of us to enjoy the natural beauty of Langkawi.
Thank you.
Ayahanda Tun,
DAP Lim Guan Eng knows very well now how Malaysia Politics and Economics work as CM!
Reported by Malaysian Insider….
1. Penang open tender spree shows up Putrajaya
By Lee Wei LianAugust 03, 2010KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3
YABhg Tun,
…at the end of the day, one need to choose the type of tourist you want visiting the island. And, of course with money to spend…..
Dear Sir,
I have been in langkawi with my family before three years ago. It is nice place and we like it. Any activity will be good for that beautiful island but the government should keep langkawi with Malaysian-Islamic traditional style.
Dear Tun,
I have a suggestion. Like the Queen of England, why don’t you register an official ‘Flickr’ account, where you can upload all your official and unoffical photos online. I’m sure there are many people who are interested to see your photos, and learn a bit more about your story – especially behind your 22 years tenure as our PM – from those photos.
Have a nice day Tun.
Dearest tun
1) Malaysia has now emerged as Asia’s second most visited country and the world’s no 9 ,all thanks to you for correctly identifying this sector in the 80’s.From what I hear with Idris Jala at the helm of PEMANDU serious efforts are now being undertaken to achieve the overall performance for Najib’s Govt.A target of 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020 have been targeted .
2) But we need the kind of attention afforded Langkawi in order to achieve that target successfully.LADA is doing a great job monitoring customer services/facilities in Langkawi because they have TUN breathing down their neck.We do not have anyone like you now to monitor the customer service at the Federal Level.
3) Our customer services is generally not good. The hotel frontliners -the bellboys and front office will only be extra friendly when they have a customer service campaign, so artificial.Otherwise they are snobs who are only very friendly when they know they will get good tippings. We are nowhere compared to Thailand.
4) Have you taken a taxi lately? This is another group of interesting people who have been doing us a lot of disservice. They are all ready to fleece the tourist especially the Arabs who don’t speak English.I think its about time taxi permits are only to be given to individuals so that Govt can control them directly.
5) The crimes involving the tourists are all so rampant.Snatch thieving, robbery, conned by police impersonators, fleeced by taxi drivers, etc, etc are growing by the day.In KL today there are also gangsters amongst the local Palestinians community who are creating problem amongst the tourist as well as the local Arab community.
6) I know its Ng Yen Yen’s problem but surely you being at the age of a master could contribute. After all the more tourists coming to Kl can be tapped for your Langkawi anyway.Just treat the whole of Malaysia as just a huge Langkawi, how about that? Although it’s unlikely for me to visit Langkawi anytime soon I do hope and pray this mountain bike challenge will be a great success.
Thanks Tun.
Ayahanda Tun,
Why Malaysian Insider does not like TS Myuhiddin’s Malay 1st when they reported this similar piece of news without BERNAMA?
The Star Online reported…..

Dr Mahathir: Explain 1Malaysia holistically

3. GEORGE TOWN: The 1Malaysia slogan must be explained in detail to the people of various races living in the country, to provide a holistic understanding of the concept, said former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
4. “When I speak to the Chinese and Malays, they have differing views and cannot be united. I feel an in-depth explanation is needed,” he told reporters here Monday when asked by delegates of the Malaysian Muslims Welfare Organisation (Perkim) about the people’s confusion over the 1Malaysia slogan.
5. “They (people) do not know which one is for the Chinese or which one is for the Malays. If (they) ask me to explain, how can I explain? It was not me who introduced the slogan,” he said.
6. Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir said the Government should consider the proposal to amend the law for rape because the existing law may be outdated.
7. “Times have changed. Pornography and pornographic pictures are easily available so when some see such movies or pictures, they lose their sense of direction and cannot decide what is right or wrong,” he said.
8. Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh has called for the death penalty to be introduced for the rape of children and urged for Section 376 of the Penal Code (rape) to be amended to provide for the death penalty in such cases.

Comment:
Dr M was right, and we don’t expect much FDI will be coming into the country.
From The Sun, Mr Barrack Obama said that he wasn’t actually invited for Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding, and that in any case two presidents would be one too many at a wedding, the self-claimed American’s Royal Wedding for the 1st time ke?
It looks like 1 Malaysia will be another Maverick Malaysia if PM Najib does not explain how 1 Malaysia works holistically.
People are smart, politicians are democratic and liberally blind and they tend to make same mistakes without learning…..contohnya gunse007, Bond, Bean Bond in LA, KL….P. Diddy died of drug overdose?
Dear Tun,
Langkawi should have world class golf course in order to attract world class international golf competition. The exposure will be great to attract more tourists to visit Langkawi.
Langkawi should also have a F1 racing track to include in the F1 racing calender.
Langkawi has a vast potential to be converted as an international island resort which could contribute to higher income for the local people. There are many things that can be developed in Langkawi to promote tourism but all must be developed according international standard. Not the HP6 type of infrastructure development. We must be creative and innovative in whatever development in Langkawi.
In my ealier comment I also did mention about Langkawi to be the centre of higher learning by inviting a well known university like Cambridge, Oxford or Havard to set up branch campus to cater for foreign students. The environment in Langkawi is suitable for students to study at a cheaper costs.
All this will definitely contribute economic spin off that will give opoortunity to raise higher income and standard of living for the people of Langkawi.
Nothing is impossible to create Langkawi as the Monaco of the East or Oxford of the East.
