2. I wonder whether Bush thinks a country like Greece, which is totally incapable of paying its debts after irresponsible financial management, is a successful country.
3. The debt of Greece has not only destroyed the country but it has dragged down all the European countries as well. Such is the disaster brought on by Greece’s impecunious ways that Europe is threatened with the possibility of financial collapse. So far the great economic and financial minds of Europe have not found any real solution. Instead there is the possibility that the failure would spread to Italy, Spain and Portugal.
4. Why has this happened to Europe? To find the answer one has to look into the European economic history, to look at how the European countries became so rich.
5. In the days of European imperialism, only Europe could make use of their engineering and technological skills to export manufactured goods to the rest of the world.
6. Feeling secure that they would be able to sustain this superiority in industry and trade and often benefitting from cheap raw material from their colonies and captive imperial markets, they allowed wages and profits to spiral up. Accordingly their GDP and per capita appeared to be high and they enjoyed ever higher standards of living. They classify their countries as developed.
7. Democracy and socialism forced the introduction of all kinds of social benefits. They acceded to demands for less work and more pay. They introduced pension schemes, paid leaves and holidays, double and quadruple pay for overtime, costly medical benefits and unemployment benefits. Very early workers were given the right to form unions and to strike. These were to prevent exploitation. But the rights were abused so that the remunerations and perks demanded had nothing to do with being exploited.
8. Soon the demand for higher remunerations and perks spread to the higher grades of workers and then to the executives. Bonuses for all were no longer related to profits made. They became actually delayed salaries, paid half-yearly or yearly.
9. The top executives were given stock options, bonuses exceeding their yearly pay, cars, houses and numerous allowances including golden handshakes even when they failed.
10. Naturally all these cause all their products and services to become very costly. With this comes an increasingly higher cost of living. Wages and perks were revised every now and again. With each round of wages and perks increase, there would be increased cost of living which in turn lead to demands for more increase in wages and perks.
11. All these would have gone on indefinitely but for the emergence of new industrial countries in the East. Japan, followed by Korea and then China industrialised and their low-cost high quality products pushed practically all the manufactured goods of the West off the shelf.
12. Threatened with the possibility of lower standard of living they created a financial market. Non-tangible products were invented for them to speculate and gamble. And they or at least the moneyed people and the game-theory experts made considerable amounts of money. With this no more capital was invested in the real business of producing goods and supplying services.
13. Then, they became very greedy. They started creating money to finance their gambling. To cut a long story short, the bubble burst. They lost all their money. Unable to go back to doing real business, to producing goods and supplying services, they began to fiddle with the monetary and banking systems.
14. They succeeded with Iceland and Ireland. But Greece proves intractable. This country enjoyed high life on borrowed money. Less work, more pay and more social benefits ate into Government revenue. Unwilling to face the wrath of the people the Government borrowed to finance the national budget. Unable to pay or service debts the lenders refused to give any more loans.
15. Actually the country became bankrupt. There is no way for the country to become solvent again. Its bankruptcy would in turn bankrupt European banks. This would be disastrous for Europe.
16. Basically the countries of Europe have failed. Their claim to be the showpiece of capitalism and democracy becomes hollow after they are forced to look at socialist undemocratic China for help.
17. But all efforts will fail unless they admit that they, like the developing countries, are poor. Poor people must live like poor people. Their bonuses, share options, perks, high pay and less work creed etc must be given up. The gambling in the financial market must also be stopped.
18. They have to go back to working, to producing goods and supplying service with lowered wages. They must sell off most of their assets (Greece is trying to do this now). But industrial discipline would be needed for foreign investors to buy the assets and run them.
19. Printing money and writing cheques will not help. They must cease to be in denial. They must admit they have failed, their creed and their systems have failed.
20. Many developing countries have failed. But many European countries including the United States of America have also failed.
Dear Dr. Mahathir,
You are right to say that the West has failed. Indeed they have failed but just refused to admit. This is because of pride. In the previous century it has already imprinted in their minds that they are more superior than we the coloured people. We are the ‘slaves” We thank God that country like China, once despised and exploited by the Western nations, now is able to stand up and prove that we Asians are equally if not better than the white men.
Our country, Malaysia, having seen the errors of US and Europe should not fall into the same debt trap. Our Federal Government debts have already gone above 50% of our GDP. I do hope someone as experience and wise like yourself should advise the Govt of the day to ensure that this debt should started to turn south. Otherwise, our next generation may have to suffer shame and humiliation like what is going on in Greece now.

Towards ASEAN2020
(learning from the eurozone)
Although what would be more interesting to write you would be on the topic of the UMNO’s almost solitary campaign and approach to the PRU13 post PAU – and picking a bit more on Demo&Oli with the pincer of Demokrasi BeRaja dan Terpimpin- the question that is demanding one to come up with a reasonable, plausible answer, however, is what are your thoughts on ASEAN in the years leading to the year 2020?
Yes, one is more fascinated than intrigued about Jacques Delors: Euro was flawed from beginning (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16016131) as it does and must raise almost the identical set of issues with regard to the GCC and ASEAN.
While one would like to believe that a Malaysia living her Vision2020 will have done her honest, level best to make a success of the GCC, Malaysia still has to survive and thrive in a hospitable milieu of ASEAN, don’t you think, Tun? Thus, how do you see ASEAN in the coming years and what are your hopes and fears for Malaysia and ASEAN in the era of The Lost Decade, Dr Mahathir?
A moot point would be the ‘prestasi’ of our Diplomatic Corps and the performance of our Trade Mission, wouldn’t you agree, Tun? Of course we would be touching on talents and luck here, one thinks. Would one be right to say so, Dr Mahahtir?

…But the truth is nearly the opposite. Although Europe’s leaders continue to insist that the problem is too much spending in debtor nations, the real problem is too little spending in Europe as a whole. And their efforts to fix matters by demanding ever harsher austerity have played a major role in making the situation worse.
The story so far: In the years leading up to the 2008 crisis, Europe, like America, had a runaway banking system and a rapid buildup of debt. In Europe’s case, however, much of the lending was across borders, as funds from Germany flowed into southern Europe. This lending was perceived as low risk. Hey, the recipients were all on the euro, so what could go wrong?
For the most part, by the way, this lending went to the private sector, not to governments…Private spending in the debtor nations fell sharply…During the years of easy money, wages and prices in southern Europe rose substantially faster than in northern Europe. This divergence now needs to be reversed, either through falling prices in the south or through rising prices in the north…

Dr Mahathir,
One is really fixated on the exemplary role of Malaysia in the OIC and somehow being a ‘member’ of Cooperation Council For The Arab States of The Gulf(GCC; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperation_Council_for_the_Arab_States_of_the_Gulf)
(Total Area, 2423.3 1000 km². Population, 38.6 Million Person. GDP, 898.0 Billion Dollar. Per capita, 23.2 Dollar).
One also harbors the thought that Malaysia a trading nation will be the place where the West, the East and the OIC meet by the year 2020.
Still, what is playing on one’s mind right now is not at all questioning the Growth strategies for the 10th Malaysia Plan 2011-2015; rather the income per capita targeted to increase to 38850 ringgit, or 12140 US dollars, in 2015.

Dr Mahathir,
One does see the high probability of Malaysia hitting most of the nine goals if not all nine of the Vision2020 if things go right for Malaysia; meaning Malaysia is successful in meeting and overcoming all the challenges that the ‘Lost Decade’ will present.
One however would like to be in focus on what one must do in helping the nation achieving the Vision. Thus, one would like to ask Dr Mahthir Mohamad if it is wise or sane to hope that after the PRU13 the PR still governs the states of Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan; al beit the BN holds a slightly less than a two third majority in Parliament. Perhaps, when it is called for in Parliament, with the votes from willing few independent MPs or opposition MPs, the BN MPs will have the necessary votes to pass whatever good laws tabled before the House by the YAB Prime Minister. How does one plan for that and how would one carry them out successfully with will of Al-Azizul-Hakimul, Ar-Rahmaanur-Rahiim?
One wonders if this situation will greatly facilitate and promote a more disciplined, diligent Federal Government with a high level of productivity and more important a nation having very able leaders of commendable honor and integrity to lead 1Malaysia towards Vision2020.
One learn to trust Dr Mahathir Mohamad and respect him for his great vision and wisdom. Truly, Dr Mahathir Mohamad is blessed.

‘Aftershock’ Book Predicts Economic Disaster Amid Controversy
Robert Wiedemer’s new book, “Aftershock: Protect Yourself and Profit in the Next Global Financial Meltdown,” quickly is becoming the survival guide for the 21st century. And Newsmax’s eye-opening Aftershock Survival Summit video, with exclusive interviews and prophetic predictions, already has affected millions around the world — but not without ruffling a few feathers.
Initially screened for a private audience, this gripping video exposed harsh economic truths and garnered an overwhelming amount of feedback.
“People were sitting up and taking notice, and they begged us to make the video public so they could easily share it,” said Newsmax Financial Publisher Aaron DeHoog.
But that wasn’t as simple as it seems. Various online networks repeatedly shut down the controversial video. “People were sending their friends and family to dead links, so we had to create a dedicated home for it,” DeHoog said.

Your economic arguments are always very strong, I have learned a lot from your articles.
Greece needs a strong leader who rejects the current orthodoxy and goes back to basics. I remember when the whole world believed Malaysia crazy for rejecting the IMF duit, yet they were the first to emerge from the Asian recession.
Excellent article.
All the Axis of evil countries were debt free. Now Afghanistan and Iraq were full of debt. As of last year Iraq’s debt was 52 Billion US dollars.
I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen to Libya as well.

What do you think? Quick-fix solution; and long-term guaranteed! I am serious, Father. Please think about it, Father.
Help those who are better educated and in need. Think! Inter-marriage and cross-culture social engineering! We get better humans at discounted price, Father.
Love you, Father; and Mother, too.
Dear Tun,
We in Malaysia can learn a lesson from this failure too.
I don’t think UMNO and BN for that matter have learned much from the first ‘wake-up’ call.
I am hoping to be more optimistic but I must say it would be a denial looking from the issues in the country at the moment.
I sincerely hope you are still talking and advising the ‘leaders’ of UMNO and that they do listen …
Your spirit and vision still motivates me personally and honestly you are the only factor that is keeping me ‘hoping and rooting’ for UMNO and BN.
Let’s hope I am the only one who feels that way….
Salam Tun and All,
I’d like to respond to Caleb. I’m afraid your analysis on the good effect over US overspending is a long shot. Perhaps it could be good for the world to have over consumption so that chances to expand the supply is good. This would create more jobs, growth, etc. But this measures is non sustainable and is temporary. When you overspend, you tend to use your future income until it depleted. When time comes, it drag down the economy with it. For those who are yet to break even will go bankrupt together with the over-spenders.
When you look at the macro economy stand-point, excessive consumption created excessive demand. If the supply couldn’t react correspondingly, it will result in high inflation. That is why you find that the value of your money is getting smaller day by day.
The best is to create economic equilibrium between demand and supply. This would ensure sustainable growth. Fundamentally in economy, speculation is never good and overspending is seen as a ‘bad habit’. It will affect everyone around you also.
Did you think?
Mr Mahathir
Agree that the West is losing its influence. Disagree that the products are being pushed off the shelves by the Asian Tigers (Malaysia no longer one of them. Not debatable).
The West do manufacture but mostly value-added products. Products of high technology such as weaponries (Arabs love these shit), aircraft, trains, satellites, chemicals (including pharmaceutical) and industrial machineries.
Even though they may not manufacture most of the products on the market, iphone and whatnot, they (Western world through their companies) own a lot of intellectual properties in those manufactured products.
It is the intellectual properties that are valuable. For all those morons in the forums, that means trademarks, copyright, design and patent.
Any Tom, Dick and Harry can reverse engineer and make an iphone but do they have the expertise to regularly innovate features in the iphone. Most developing countries do not have or own a lot of intellectual properties because they do not transition well into a knowledge-based society (prime example, Malaysia). Not an Iphone fanboy by the way. I do truly hate Apple but I cant elude the fact that it is gaining popularity.
Disagree that financial trading is all the West can do. They are generally smart people (I work with them on a daily basis so my opinion counts). Yes, trading is big there but no, it is not the only thing they do or good at. They are good at other services like engineering consultation, business services, legal services, architecture, agriculture services and heaps more. If Malaysia needs someone to consult to build a twin tower, we dont get Ahmad to do it, we got Cesar Pelli in lieu. If we need to build a dam, we got the West to consult us and we pay them in the hundreds of millions. Hardly any capital involved to consult, mostly human intellect. There you go, value-added services.
Another prime example would be what I do. My charge out rate is RM900 per hour. This means, if I have to consult you on a matter, you owe the firm RM900 per hour. I bill about 6.5 hours a day. This is the average for the industry and for my experience (about 2 years). Some of you might think that is overpriced, but again, I say, people who come to me need me more than I need them. So there you go value added shit with a cherry at the top. Now that is how you make bank.
The West are not the most intelligent people in the world. The East Asians are (not including South East Asians). The West will be always at a advantage because they emphasise on education and have in placed better education systems. No doubt, the orientals and the indians are catching up.
That is all that this country needs, an emphasis for education. Lets forget about why cant we compete vigorously in the international scene. Lets forget about politics and all this nonsense plaguing this country. Lets get to the basics and lay down that foundation for success that is education.
Look at the West, you have to give them credit. They have the knowledge and they disseminate it effectively with proper education system and research. We have crap education system which means crap education for Ahmads, Ah Seng and Mutu.
I feel so sorry that we cant even decide whether English or BM should be teaching medium for Science and Math. On one hand we have the stupid nationalist shouting nationalism for God knows why. At at the other end of the string, we have genuine parents who want their kids and who strongly believe that English is the way forward. Yet the government, with infinite wisdom of apes, went with the ways of the moronic nationalists, ignoring the wants and the needs of genuine parents.
If we get 80% of the population to immerse themselves in education, we can get the ball rolling.

Nazri: Let eligible Malaysians vote
By JOSEPH KAOS Jr and WANI MUTHIAH
[email protected]
KUALA LUMPUR: All eligible Malaysians should be allowed to vote whether they are in the country or overseas, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said.
“As long as they (Malaysians) comply with the Federal Constitution’s requirements, are at least 21 years old and have registered as voters, they should be allowed to exercise their right to vote,” Nazri said.
He added that organising such a vote during an election should not be too difficult.
“The voting process can be conducted at Malaysian embassies.”
He was commenting on the case of six Malaysians in Britain who were granted leave for a judicial review by the High Court on Monday to compel the Election Commission (EC) to register them as absent voters in the next general election.
The six are Dr Teo Hoon Seong, electrical engineer V. Vinesh, entrepreneur Paramjeet Singh, Dr Yolanda Sydney Augustin, translator Sim Tze Wei and software architect Leong See See.
They are seeking a declaration that, as Malaysians staying abroad, they are entitled to be registered as absent voters and directed the EC, named as the sole respondent, to register them.
On Monday, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Reforms (PSC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said it would be following the developments closely.
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Assoc Prof Dr Sivamurugan Pandian said Malaysians should come back to vote if they truly wanted to participate as citizens instead of asking to be registered as absent voters.
“They have to have first-hand knowledge and information on the candidate and his background instead of merely depending on the media for information,” he added.
Comment:
1. No wonder the quality of Lecturers in USM’s Physic Department is below APEC standard.
2. Lecturers are employed because of racism and discrimination, not because they have the right attitude which is suitable to teach.

Kyle Bass is a hedge fund founder who saw the financial crisis coming and made a fortune from it – first from America’s sub-prime mortgage crisis and then from betting that Greece would default.
Mr Bass told Sarah Montague that Germany cannot be expected to bail out the PIIGS countries – Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain, and that only a massive write-down in those countries’ debts will solve the crisis.

Salaam Tun,
@Middleages
Re your point no 2) Exactly whats happening in Singapore now- The place is now overcrowding and suffocating, gorvernment house and cars ( the former on 99 years lease, the latter- well, to own a car you have to a pay Certificate of Entitlement(COE) + price of cars (eg Toyota 1000cc cost $50 000 (COE) + $40 000 (price of car) and the life of car here is only 10 years. A lot of Singaporeans are migrating (majority Chinese Singaporeans) as these ‘educated’ people only realised that they have been ripped off. Singapore population now almost 5.5mil and more to come. Any Tom, Dick and Harry ( mostly from China, India. Filipino, Myanmar, govt says these people are ‘professional’) are here. Life very suffocating in this tiny place. MRT always full like Sardines. Population now 5.5 mil, but the Malay population remains the same around 500 000 hehe since the 70’s. Check out Johore, a lot of Singaporeans uprooting there, even those Singaporeans driving Lambo’s and Ferraris. Malaysians should consider lucky-plentiful of land, you have both the cities and kampongs-cool. If you guys dont believe what I am saying check out the website- The Online Citizen and sgpolitics…Temasek Review Emeritus has closed down. So to my Malaysian friends, the grass is not always green. True blue Singaporeans are struggling day to day…
1. economy 101. just go back to basic
2. why the country failed?
3. for me because they have used their future money.
4. end up with hutang
5. why we need more money now?
6. because the world has devalue their money continuously which resulted in inflation but they manipulated the figure until it shows accepted inflation rate.
7. go back to future money. I was advised by the wealthy old man, what ever u do, dont spend your future money unless its really need.
8. My father told me that one very well known rich man has advised him, if he earned 1000rm, he needs to spend only 999rm. if more, you will be poor or bankcrupt.
10. so why the country failed? for me, because it has used its future money. that is what mr najib is doing right now. if pakatan take over, i believed it will become worst.
11. if you used your future money, and when it come to the day of that future, you still have no money because you have spent it earlier. again you need to use your future money to finance that future day.
12. wow. its sound like majority of malaysians. that why we need more money to survive.
13. another reason why the country failed is, for me, the accountant. they are the real capitalist. they are smart people that manipulated the figures that always shown black in the balance sheet. And the politicians when see the figure is black, they spend like the monies are theirs.
14. so we need to blame the politicians? no. just shoot the accountant. because they are the real capitalist that make the world economy become worst. period.
15. before i forget, the indicators shown that our economy next yer will be bad. are you ready for it? be wise. get ready.
Much as I want to totally believe in what you have written, there are some aspects that we have overlooked and that is consumption.
The US have been buying & spending more than they can afford. That brought the Chinese to profit and saved US$3 trillion. But can you imagine if all nations did not consume like most countries??! None of us will have a job and Tun, Petronas will not exist. Everything is just ample.
Pls think again everyone. All surviving nations are lucky as we profit from their sheer overconsumption. If you didn’t understand, think for a minute what will happen if all these countries did not overspend?! There will be fewer jobs available.
Now imagine US and cronies spend less. And all Malaysians do not shop for imported goods. Think hard!!
Salam Tun,
1. It is all very nice to condemn other countries especially western and european countries as failed states. But are we in Malaysia in any better situation ?
2. I honestly do no think so. There are some very disturbing signs and the writing is on the wall. That many Malaysian are leaving for greener pastures is very telling. That more foreigners are coming here to work is also telling. There is no turning back. Ordinary Malaysians have to live with plenty of foreigners or migrate overseas and live as a foreigner. It is a matter of which foreigner is better now.
Thank You Tun
Salam Tun and all,
Agree with Tun. I like the comment from HBT also. In order for us to strive for the better, i think we should try to start our own production. As other country is known for their products superiority, we should come out with our own. At least Samsung has started to race against Sony, but we don’t have anything superior in the market. A lot of our products were also imported.
the truth will prevail. you are correct, correct , correct Tun
HBT 456. Sorry ! I do not agree with everything you said. I have studied the personalities on both sides of the Causeway since 1951 and closely associated with the Malaysian elite since 1963. You cannot compare going-ons in Singapore with Malaysia. For instance, it takes you at least 4 hours to fly from Kangar to Tawau whereas Singapore is a one-street town. You should have confidence in yourself and our Malaysian leadership. In short, you cannot compare chalk and cheese with your ramblings which are not based on facts. We must have confidence in ourselves and never worship foreigners. You heard of the saying –
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts!
Tun’s greatness and legacy are that he safeguarded the sovereignty, the national interest and self-esteem of our beautiful country, Malaysia. To reiterate ( Why should we believe in the rantings of foreigners? ) :-
1. Tun did not use money as an instrument of foreign policy to kill, maim or harm innocents, either directly or indirectly. He has no blood on his hands.
2. He did not lose US$ 108 Billions of his citizens trust money in a short space of time on Wall Street.
3. He safe-guarded Malaysia’s sovereignty, national interest and self-esteem.
4. He did not line his own pocket, legally or illegally.
Askm,
All man-made regulations or systems cannot replace systems created by Allah SWT. By denying this fact, the world will not become a better place. That’s the reason why we should also humbly admit to our many shortcomings that ” Any good things always come from Allah and any bad things must have come from us, Allah’s humble servant”.
So, Tun’s writing is clearly emphasising this fact.
It is also a fact that in lives, there will be ups & downs. It appears that their turn has come… will they accept that? Definite no..but that is their choice.
Having established and implemented global systems in every aspect of our lives, as to ensure their superiority over others, are failing, they must look for other ways. In such a situation, I believe that they will initiate the necessary provocation to start a new war. The concept of “all means to justify the end” has been their policy all along. This is to ensure that they will hopefully forever maintain their superiority over others. What they need now is to create execuses for that. In fact they are already starting to prepare the scripts if you care to see what is happening a round the world. Their evil intention had been in-built in their natural character since Adam’s time. Nothing to wonder.
May Allah bless & protect us all.

Trans-Pacific Partnership an extra safety raft for S’pore, says PM

HONOLULU – Trade-dependent Singapore can naturally expect a boost from the freer flow of goods, services and investments that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a nine-country free trade agreement, would eventually usher in.
And, given the choppy waters that the world economy is currently in, the pact could serve as an ‘additional safety raft’ as well, said Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Saturday.
‘Singapore is totally dependent on trade. It is critical to us, it is our lifeblood,’ added Mr Lee, who is in Hawaii to attend the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
‘At a time of instability in the world economy, if you look at what’s happening in Europe, I think (the TPP) would be an additional safety raft.
2. Malaysia economy depends on FDI in industrialization.
3. Lee thinks the TPP would be an additional safety raft.
4. I think, Mukhriz is a looser when comes to politicking because he does not how to lie due to his family brought up and tertiary education under such hardworking and strict parents.
5. I sincerely hope that he would be given a chance by President UMNO Baru yang terkini to test his capabilities as MITI Minister, not VP for UMNO baru in further liberalizing and upgrading Malaysia economy by focusing MITI’s portfolios in bringing high-technology foreign industrialists under post- globalization and pre-global warming crisis by concentrating the Sarawak Bakun project, Corridors launched by Pak Lah.
Good day, YAB Tun.
Assalamualaikum Tun.
Orang miskin nak berlagak miskin pun susah.Tapi kalau nak berlagak kaya bersepah sepah.
Terima kasih Tun.
Good morning YAB Tun,
1. Countries failed when the governments view protectionism is divide.
2. Countries failed when the governments view openness is satanic.
3. Countries failed when the government ministers cannot lead the down lines by role model.
4. The government ministers failed when they utilize so much of their working time paid by ‘duit rakyat’ to pursue their dreams of excellence in politicking as copycats.
5. Well, the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sport Ministry, Gan Ping Sieu, is trying to show off to his superior that he is more capable than his superior in ‘usik-usik isu-isu’ policies which stipulates clearly MYB’s main responsibilities and job scopes are to enhance healthy activities among youths and sports.
6. Since Gan likes politics, he should resign from the government ministry to pursue his dream of political excellence in Action Democracy using duit MCA, atau BN if he is serious in political transformation in matured society and developed states.
7. KJ, Tengku Razaleigh, Ong Tee Keat, Subramaniam, Anwar, Kit Siang and others who are not in government ministries, they can say what what they think are relevant, or irrelevant, to tangkap undi.
8. But Gan and Wee are in government ministry, hence, they cannot say what they like since their paid responsibilities have nothing to do with politics.
Good day, YAB Tun.
Terbaikkk….
Our newspapers should have write-ups like this so that the readers with no financial background can understand what they read. Thank you YABhg Tun!
Proves grasses not always greener on the other side..Great article Tun.

1-I don’t think there is any economic problem the great resilient West cannot overcome.
2-A situation where they won’t have any money to pay their debt will never happen. All they will need to do is just call up their money printing division- whatever amount of money they need shall be delivered.
3-And this great blessing can go on forever and ever..QE1,2,3 to infinity!
4-I agree totally with Alan Greenspan,Standard and Poor should restore US credit rating back to triple A.In fact this time around a special ‘for life’ status should also be added.
5-The only way the US economy would collapse is when (a)the Congress refuse to raise their debt ceiling,(b) the nation run out of paper or (c) their printing machine breaks down completely..in other words never!
6-Western imperialism would prevail and this would be terrible news for the Muslims. For not believing in the divinity of Jesus, they have all been identified as the accursed Anti-Christ associated with the mark of the beast 666! Muslims really can’t afford to make any mistakes!
7-May God save all of mankind with the deliverance of the promised peace!
Thanks Tun
Assalamualaikum Tun,
The true fact of the matter is the Euro economy cannot be saved no matter what they do. They are totally bankrupt. They are a sinking ship. Only Germany seems to be coping. But Germany alone can’t save them all. Even the US economy is doomed with historical high deficits and trillions debts.
They have only themselves to blame for creating this riba based economy.
They wanted the easy way of making rich without the need to produce goods and services.Even now their own people are taking to the streets and revolting.
In the end ,their own system destroyed them.
On the other hand, China, India is seen as the next economic powerhouse. Russia too is increasing momentum. Then we have the oil producing countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and Venezuela. The likes of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines is also a formidable force.
Maybe its time we “liberate” ourselves from the US and West in true sense of the word?
Some people might say we are already independent, but those who can truly see knows the world is controlled by the US and the West all this while. Their master is of course the Zionist Jews.
Its time they follow us. Independence day anyone?
Salam Tun,
I think Najib is doing almost the same thing right now, with lavish spending and throwing money like Santa Clause. Most of the money he throws to unreturn expenditure and worst still an expenditure on Rosmah. The distribution of RM500-00 will only create tension to those who do not get especially like poor farmers, many orang kampong and uneducated poor. Only smart people will get. The way he spend will lead Malaysia like Greece.
Posting yg cukup bagus Tun, maklumat yg cukup berguna. Semoga Allah rahmati Tun sekeluarga dan d panjangkan usia. Ameen…

Salam YB Tun,
Seems looser don’t want to admit their failure and they are more to looting other countries by inciting upheaval and creating again colonialism around the world specially middle east since Asia Pacific has taken precaution.
You’re so right, just completing the truth, the so called developed world trying to deny. Their citizen ignoring the facts and later when their government goes to war, their people will support, there will be no justice and humanity anymore. War will be preferred to balance or have upper hand on other region. Enough being fools, save guard and exploit our raw material with added value by our self for the benefit of the world. We have to satisfy our people and country’s need first before others, no more listening to sweet promising words.
Thanks for the opportunity to put my mind down in your blog.
Terima Kasih Yang Amat Terhormat Tun yang di kasihi.
Salam Tun,
Thank you Tun for this piece. You’ve it simple for a lay man like me to understand. Thanks for showing us the way.
May Allah bless you and Tun Hasmah.

This topic concerning ‘ The Failed Countries’ is interesting as well as complex. The Greeks have been around for over 2,000 years and Greece was the fount of the Western civilisation in all respects, democracy, culture etc. In the early 1980’s S. Rajaratnam of Singapore wrote a 2 part article on ‘ Athens and Sparta ‘ which gave insights into why Athens survived and not Sparta. If we based bankruptcy on the failure of a country to manage its financial resources, then, there are many countries which are near the precipice, including Malaysia. Bankruptcy of a country does not necessarily mean it has failed. I believe that many other criteria should be considered also. The most important of all is the political leadership and this depends on one most complex subject, human resources.
The fate of a country is like a corporation and its much smaller counterpart, the family. The burden of leadership rests on its head which provides the leadership for good or bad. A popular belief that a wealthy family will fail within 3 generations may sometimes be applied to a corporation or a country. The head of a wealthy family may not pass his/her successful business genes on to the next generation. This has happened before our eyes from time to time. A country relies entirely on its elite leadership to nominate prospective candidates to carry on with its good works in the next generation and the generations to come. However, even with the most meticulous selection process, some candidates have turned out to be below expectations when they really hold the reins of power and money. To these people, a country is like an Aladdin’s cave to be looted without much ado. Then, a country and its people suffer ! This is exactly like the rich man’s son who squanders away his father’s wealth in one generation.
Meritocracy which is a much touted panacea for unfair selection of capable candidates who may hold the reins of power in a country, is not necessarily the ideal form of selection. Some countries failed miserably
( at a time when talent was needed most ) when focus was on meritocracy alone which in material terms means that the smarter the person, the more money he/she gets at the top of the human pyramid. With such a structure and at the critical moment, when the stacks of meritocrats below the tip of the pyramid could not think or see out of the box, the country suffers. In other words, these meritocrats played by the books which should have been thrown away when they left the portals of their respective and distinguished universities and started afresh in this wild world! We go up to a university to only learn how to think. But instead these meritocrats formed an exclusive power elite and failed. Let us hope this will not happen in Malaysia. This is the hard part, Tun, which you have experienced and succeeded.
Singapore missed an opportunity of many life-times when a possible investment in gold was missed out many years ago. If this option was considered out of all the options, gold could not be excluded given the fact it fits nicely in terms of world power and control. None of the other natural resources fit the bill. This would have been backed by the politico-history of the world ! By investing in the papers of institutions which were managed by gentlemen below the high standards of Singapore Inc., these huge investments were subjected to the vagaries of the market place and should have been avoided even if it meant the loss of influence and control over these world class institutions. With hindsight, the risk for a country is not worth it on the biggest casino on the planet, the NYSE ! Many years ago, I stopped a Government Agency from opening an account on the NYSE on the first day of my appointment ! I just asked a simple question, ‘ This benefits whom? ‘ A developing country needs all the money for its own development. There was no scandal !
It is so important for those who manage a country’s wealth, to differentiate when compared with that of a private individual’s. It is as different as comparing chalk and cheese. The priority should be on sovereignty ( control ), national interest and self-esteem which you followed and succeeded, Tun, in the management of the country’s wealth during your 22 years Administration.
Many countries have lost much money but these could not be considered as the failed countries if the political leadership is intact and capable. But these are by far better developed in terms of politics and socio-economics than the countries which recently emerged from their colonial chrysalis. You are right, Tun, that Malaysia’s way forward cannot be the same as the developed countries in many respects even though we have gone very far. Malaysia is unique given its racial diversity and the traditional overlay of Malayness in terms of religion, customs, culture etc. This must be so and with peace and harmony, all Malaysians should co-operate and build progress on the building works which have been laid down through the years. The practice of humanity and multiculturalism by the Royal Sultans and successive Governments through many hundreds of years is one of the many factors which make our country unique and put us ahead of some countries today. And beware of the crocodiles, as our country is seen to be more and more strategic and important in foreign eyes !
But we cannot build an unique society and country without money and a soul. We have seen how some countries failed when these adopted the policy in the total pursuit of money without a soul. Hence, a wise political leadership with a normal approach in the management and utilization of money is a must if Malaysia is to avoid the label of a ‘ failed country ‘. To your credit, Tun, the following facts underline the successful management of the Government’s Budgets during the 22 year Administration under your leadership which was within internationally recognised parameters.
During the last year of your Administration, 2003, the total Budget Expenditure of the Federal Government as reported by the relevant authorities, was approximately RM 73 Billions. By 2011, this figure has shot up to RM 176 Billions. The RM 100 Billions mark was overshot annually since 2006 ! To top it off, from 2003 to 2011, the Malaysian economy was in the doldrums with no sign of much activity. To where did the money go?
Hence, Tun, your advice on Malaysian affairs should be taken seriously by all and sundry. And the management and utilization of a country’s financial resources is serious and not fun and games.
Dear Tun,
Salam Tun,
Muhyiddin Yassin, Minister of Agriculture (2004–2008), I called all people to demand him HydroElectric Dams to Protect our Precious Rice Fields. (He maybe our next Prime Minister if he’s actually build a Hydroelectric Dam.)
Protect our Food Security, Protect our Energy Security.
the Loss Cost of Rice Fields Destruction, may cost more than building a Dam. More Food, More Productivity, More Profit.
no cheap, sub-quality, maybe toxic, food from China.
Vote for Quality Food, Made in Malaysia.
Maybe We should give Quality food to China, So they’ll build Dam for us.
Politician who have massive & effective National Infrastructure Plans, will win the next General Election.
YAB Tun,
I know you are a Malaysian man with principle who will not be easily influenced by Tengku Razaleigh. I am a Malaysian woman with principle and will not be easily influenced by Chinese politicians too.
Goodnight, YAB Tun.
Respected Dr. Mahathir Muhammad, Salam,
No pain No gain was to prevail ultimately.
WELL SAID TUN.
I THINK THEY HAVE THE HABIT OF LOOKING INTO OTHER
WEAKNESS INSTEAD OF THEIR VERY OWN.
REASONS TO THEIR COLLAPSE.
THEY TALK MORE AND DO LESS.
THEY SHOULD STUDY ISLAM.
TO LIVE MODERATELY AND CONTENTED.
TO VALUE WHAT THEY HAVE INSTEAD OF ENVYING WHAT OTHERS HAVE.
IT GOES TO ALL HUMAN
Dear Tun,
Before I comment, I wish to thank you for the advise on one of your write up to invest in gold rather than currencies many years back.
I took your advise and invested in gold back in 2007 @ USD687 per Troy ounce and today rate is USD 1,756. Back then many of my friends have argued with me that your view is clouded because of your ‘anti western’ stance. Today most of these critics have dump their currencies and went for gold but at the price between USD1,200 – USD1,500.
Some were even few million poorer due to their heavy investment in some US & Europe trust & bonds.
The way I see it the west definitely have ulterior motive when they keep forcing their failed or failing ideology on developing nation. They are highly critical on developing nation on various issues from human rights, democracy, environment to economic which some of which are totally hypocritical just to maintain their supremacy.
They are fast to lay economic sanctions, warship diplomacies and even unilateral strike against those who disobey or deem a threat to them.
Not much have change since colonial times except now they have package it differently and very good PR to disguise their act as a recourse to maintain world peace & security.
no wonder…
Tun, mind to comment if the uprising in mid east has something to do with some sort of ‘new colonization’? You know… the need for cheaper resources and such….
whats your take on the West next move on Iran? looks like something is quite inevitable.
regards,
Salam Jumaat Tun,
Admitting own failure will mean double failure for the Europeans.. their self-centred ego and pride will not let them go for it Tun, not to something that will make they looks stupid in any way.
Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya AidilAdha kepada Tun sekeluarga, tidak ketinggalan juga kepada semua muslimin dan muslimat.
Good afternoon YAB Tun,
1. Today, we are now in the post era of globalization; will be entering the global warming crisis by 2012.
2. The Straits Times summarized their PM’s TV interview so that its readers can read what is in the mind of the Prime Minister of Singapore as follows (remarks: this is why Mubarak Chan became poor dad):-
Governments knew they had to act early and decisively: PM Lee
But it is politically hard for leaders to do so, he says
The European governments knew that to tackle the euro zone debt crisis, they had to ‘get in decisively early, with a big package, and instil confidence’, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a TV interview.
The approach is not new, he added, pointing out that the world had experienced it during the 2008-09 global financial crisis, particularly in the United States.
‘But politically they’re finding it very hard to do,’ Mr Lee told CNBC in an interview, an excerpt of which was broadcast on Thursday.
BACKGROUND STORY
PM Lee observed that ‘once you have a big meeting, you expect a big solution’. But the European crisis ‘is not one that’s ‘susceptible (bermakna mudah dipengaruhi)’ to a single, big solution’.
The need for governments to over-react and instil confidence in a massive way was imperative ‘because by the time the markets are moving quickly and the situation is getting out of control, the psychology is probably too late to reverse’, PM Lee said.
3. I also managed to read the introduction as I am not a subscriber for The Straits Times that read as “Bill Gates: China’s innovation can help the poorest”
4. In Malaysia, some politicians may perceive themselves as Bill Gates by using “tax payer monies (in Bahasa Inggeris)” support “Kerajaan negeri Kedah untuk membina sebuah Sekolah Tahfiz Sains di Pulau Tuba, Langkawi sebagai sebahagian usaha menjadikan negeri itu sebagai pusat ilmu terkemuka.”
6. Since PAS does not support Capitalism, hence, PAS cannot minta loyalti minyak daripada Kapitalist Petronas Malaysia, pakai nama Tun Razak some more, because PAS has never agree that they are Malaysians.
7. There is not even one word mentioned by PAS current leader when Pak Lah gave duit raya kepada semua rakyat Melayu dari Kelantan di Putra World Trade Centre, pakai duit rakyat Malaysia.
8. Rich or poor politicians by lying, we do the math ourselves.
9. YAB Tun, Malaya gained independence because all political party leaders including PAP have had agreed to have General Election in every 5 years.
9. Due to racial conflicts among Malays and Chinese in the 60s, Tunku Abdul Rahman as the 1st Prime Minister of Malaya had granted Singapore’s independence to choose their own Prime Minister.
10. It was through general election, Mr Lee Kuan Yew was chosen as the president for PAP who voted as the 1st Prime Minister of Singapore.
11. There are no failed countries.
12. There are only failed leaders who are either voted out they became extremely dangerous or corrupted to the world security.
13. Malaysian politicians, generally, they are filthy rich today, and will become god dam poor tomorrow because they lie among themselves assuming that we rakyat are dungu.
Good day, YAB Tun.
Very nice article Tun
apa yg boleh dikatakan, it’s tooo late utk perbetulkan semua…because of why ??? easily, greedy management absorbed…
Apa solusinya?? change to islamic financial concept.. REAL islamic financial concept…bukannya sistem yahudi yang sedia ada tetapi ditambah ayat-ayat manis untuk menampakkan islamic sistem…
jika kita tgk dari konsep perbankan sekarang ;
Si pulan : deposit duit RM 1000 into bank
Si joti : Buat loan dgn bank RM 2000
Bank : ambil duit Pulan + Issuee New Debt RM1000 give to Joti with interest 5%..
Apa yang dipersoal, Issuee Unreal Money, where’s created new 1 new debt..

Dear Tun,
Many years ago I read an English person’s strong argument that Cleopatra, whose beauty and intelligence captured the hearts of Mark Anthony and Julius Caesar, was not an Egyptian, but a Greek princess. The Trojan Horse, another Greek invention, fooled and defeated the Persians, repeatedly told to the world to highlight Greek brain power, and that the Persians are not so smart. And so we read of many European greatness that overpower the less intelligent non-Europeans. Even Alexander the Great, who invaded and murdered thousands of innocent people was elevated as a great leader and great conqueror.
Anyone who had lived in Britain can sense the aura of British greatness for having conquered and colonized half the world. Ferdinand Magellan was, to the Europeans, the first person to round the world, when actually it was Panglima Hitam, a Malay Malacca warrior. Admiral Cheng Ho, who sailed the Pacific and Atlantic long before the Europeans, is not even mentioned in the history text book written by Europeans.
We have to, in all sincerity, accept the fact that Europeans as a community have this super high air and sense of superiority. We of the non-European stock are supposed to be stupid, and stay that way, and just listen to what the Europeans have to say, follow their ways and accept their intelligent opinion. That is why some Malaysian adore Blair the liar.
With Europe going downhill, and America to follow soon, will we suffer too? Yes, because :
1. They are the markets for our exports
2. They control the flow of money in world financial system
3. We love their brands, from fashion to watches to cars
4. They control the world media
5. They have more guns.
And so we can’t do nothing. Honestly I could not be bothered if Greece, Italy or any European country goes bankrupt. They are supposed to be intelligent, and they don’t need our advice. But as a small trading nation, we have to go into a protective mode, finding new markets, recreating investment and saving and money flow systems, creating an alternative world-level media, and since we have problem worshipping the brands, buy their brands when time is right.
The Europeans do not realize that the rest of the world, especially Asia, is catching up with them, but then, so what.
Still remember your speech in UPM few days back regarding Dilema ekonomi bangsa Malaysia and in that speech you were talking about Greece..i’m a health science student but thanks to you,now i am able to understand our dilemma. I am so glad i’ve met you that day. I dreamed of meeting you many times and thanks to God, He finally answered my prayer. Im reading your book right now, and hopefully, 1 day i am able to fully understand your way of thinking..Long live Tun..
