DEMOCRACY AND OLIGARCHY

1. America and Europe are the great proponents of Democracy. It is the greatest system of Government. It will make countries great. Democracy guarantees there will be no oppression of the citizens (oppressing and killing other people is okay of course).

2. But now they have demanded that Italy be governed by an unelected Government of technocrats headed by Mario Monti, an economist.

3. So democracy is not the panacea for all political and economic problems. So the will of the majority cannot always be permitted to wield power. In the end democracy has to depend on oligarchy to rescue it from the capitalist abuses.

4. But then we know democracy has failed when the European democrats are looking at oligarchic China to help them out in the present financial crisis.

5. Now that the West has realised that democracy is not the perfect system it is touted to be, please stop killing people so as to democratise them.

  1. I agree with Johny, but with a twist.
Our democracy is shit. Then throw it away. Do not even think about reforming it. For centuries this Archipelago has flourished under ChongKok (ancient China) patronage without any aggression but even inter-marriage with the local Sultan and one Chinese palace occupant.

The Malays in Malacca accepted with open arms all and sundry, from Arab merchants to Portugese priests.

Of course all that changed. The devils arrived with their white-man medicine and white-man school and white-man preaching that they never practiced.

  2. Don’t look at other countries while democracy is down the drain right in your backyard. The so called democracy in Malaysia is totally bullshit. You know it.

  3. Salam TUN,

The West speaks with forked tongue to suit their whims.
Even the advocator of Democracy Mr Obama congratulated Technocrat Monti on that auspicious day.
    Suddenly,Democracy was dead in Italy.
The former govt. of the Soviet Union has been referred to as a Technocray.Soviet leader like Leonid Brezhnew had a technical background in education, and in 1986 89% of Politburo Members were engineers.
During the cold war both US and Soviet hated each others idealogy.
Some forms of Technocracy are envisioned as a form of Meritocracy,a system where the most qualified and those who decide the validity of qualifications are the same people.

US addictions to debt, and their Debt Ceiling.
It was first set in Feb 1917, ceiling at US11.5 billions, and now at US14.3 trillions.
    Almost 100% of their GDP.
During this world financial crises they are still rich,no need to subsribe to IMF or cut its spending or raise taxes.
Although they have raised its Debt Ceiling many times before 2011,these increases were not generally coupled with an ongoing global economic crises.
In Dec 16,2009.The Debt Ceiling was bridged/exceeded.To avoid default, the Treasury Dept used ‘extraordinary accounting tools’ to enable the Treasury to make an additional US150 billions available to meet the neccessary federal obligations
Their Debates to raise Debt Ceiling are only rhetorics.
Citing,if they don’t the global financial wont recover.
Once agreed upon, they will start spending again.
It will go on and on,and its so easy if you know how.
Their economy are in a doldrum, blaming the Renmimbi not their RECKLESSNESS.
Another question is,who is monitoring the Rating Agencies giving US the Thumbs UP (Meritocracy)

  4. At the end, it might not be the systems of governance that will be at war with one another. It might be every systems of governance that will be at war with money. Money is no respector of the system of governance. Money itself is another system of governance; meaning it is the quantity of your money that makes things happen. Call yourself a democrate. Call yourself a socialist. Call yourself a communist. Call yourself anything. But you all need money. No money no talk and how true.

  5. 1. Democracy. What is that?
    2. We can be racist like DAP people – can call other people “hitam metalik” and can simply accused people who married Non-Malaysian as “Pengkhianat Negara”. Simply “Mencarut” during ceramah at PAS platform which PAS recognised Mencarut is satu amalan baik coz “Tuhan Mencarut”.
    3. Can have sex bebas like what Andrewtay wants.
    4. Can have homo sex like what Andrewtay wants.
    5. Can have anak luar nikah but irresponsibIe to them like what Andrewtay wants.
    6. Is that democracy that we want?
    7. DAP wants that way. So they can be more racist as usual.
    8. PAS wants that way. So the can mencarut whenever and wherever they want.
    9. Andrewtay wants that way. So he can have sex whenever, whoever and wherever he wants as long no harm to the people.
    10. So what type of democracy that we want? PAS ways? DAP ways? Andrewtay & the like way?
    11. Is there any EASY WAY OUT to get rid of these group of people from Malaysia?
    12. Yes HBT456. I am melayu & looking an easy way out to get rid of these people.
    13. Yes HBT456. I am Melayu. Thats why my nick is Tuntuah, as a reminder to “takkan Melayu hilang di dunia”.

    Endorsement & Trust

I was reading an interestingly titled article The Road To Wars And Economic Collapse(http://www.counterpunch.org/2011/11/24/the-roads-to-war-and-economic-collapse/) which was reminding one of Thanksgiving Day and rambling about the Republican presidential campaign debate and the Russian President’s statement about his country’s response to Washington’s missile bases surrounding his country. Mundane, ordinary stuff by Paul Craig Roberts until I came across this: the failure of a German government bond auction.

…The day prior to Thanksgiving also brought another extraordinary development–the failure of a German government bond auction, an unparalleled event.

Why would Germany, the only member of the EU with financial rectitude, not be able to sell 35 per cent of its offerings of 10-year bonds? Germany has no debt problems, and its economy is expected by EU and US authorities to bear the lion’s share of the bailout of the EU member countries that do lack financial rectitude.

I suspect that the answer to this question is that the failure of the German government’s bond auction was orchestrated by the US, by EU authorities, especially the European Central Bank, and private banks in order to punish Germany for obstructing the purchase of EU member countries’ sovereign debt by the European Central Bank…

Is that true? It is all very complicated to me. Why would Germany obstruct the purchase of EU member countries’ sovereign debt by the European Central Bank?

So, I thought it is best one share the article with Dr Mahathir.

Dr Mahathir knows a lot of things good and bad; and it must be with good reason why he said what he said that najib is on the right track with regard to Wawasan2020.

One can only say if that is what Mahathir wants so be it. One wants no part of it any more. Que sera sera.

  7. The British Oligarchy intends to nuclear exterminate 80% of humanity
Discussion on the Oligarchy by Dr Mahathir is very timely. The British Oligarchy (an ancient Greek word meaning the rule of the few) is administered by the British Monarchy and international bankers out of the City of London and arose from the forced takeover of England by the British East India Company 250 years ago.
Contrary to popular opinion, the British Empire still exists (although camouflaged under the name British Commonwealth) and is in fact the 4th version of the Roman Empire which transformed into the Byzantine, Venetian and then the present British Empire.
Throughout the history of Empires the intention of the Oligarchy has been the same; to keep the population (the “cattle”) ignorant and as low as possible and thereby “manageable” by engineering wars, famines and diseases. This population reduction was the British Empire’s intention in starting the two World Wars of the 20th century. However, it has not gone all the British Empire’s way. Ever since the defeat of fascism in World War 2 the rise of a skilled world population with science driven development on earth and into space gravely threatens the existence of the privileged Oligarchs. The world does not need them and would be infinitely better off without any form of Empire. With the collapse of their Monetarist system based on rampant speculation which has destroyed jobs and the productive economy especially in Europe and America, the British Empire is trapped like a rat in a corner. This makes them desperate and dangerous. A thermonuclear World War 3 is their answer. The Oligarchy has publicly announced on many occasions that it wants to reduce the world’s population, now 7 billion to 1 billion.
American Statesman and economist Lyndon LaRouche has been accurately forecasting every stage of the Decline of the British Empire since the mid 1950s and the danger posed to us, the “cattle”, and how we can at long last overthrow the 2000 plus year old Oligarchical Principle once and for all.
LaRouche issued an emergency statement on Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 24, 2011 on http://www.larouchepac.com. The following are excerpts.
“This empire is determined to set the nations of the world into a war with one another, which is intended that civilization as we’ve now known it, will no longer exist. This is not only a general prospect; this is the immediate situation this weekend. This is not a weekend like other weekends. We’re now on the verge—and it’s set in place right now—of a chain reaction, which could mean the extermination of civilization as we’ve known it.”
“Now this is being set up by the British Empire, and nobody else. And nobody else. If you don’t think the British Empire is the enemy, you don’t understand the ABCs of the situation.”
“A war now, do you know what it means? Do you know what thermonuclear weapons mean? Do you realize that what’s going on in the Middle East, so-called, cannot be waged by anything other than nuclear weapons? This also means thermonuclear weapons?
“So don’t talk about this interest, or that interest. Don’t try to take sides in the silly quarrels which people are indulging in in the Middle East and elsewhere today. Pay no attention to this. They don’t have any reality except stupidity. If you try to win these wars, you lose everything. You have to prevent these wars from occurring, or you lose everything.”
“And the best example is to look at the study of the Seven Years War, from 1756 to 1763. And that war is the war that established the British Empire as the dominant imperial force on this planet. Because they induced the leading nations of continental Europe, and others, to make fools of themselves by fighting wars against one another, where the trick was, to get them to bleed themselves into weakness by fighting one another, and thus opening the gates for a British takeover, British imperial takeover, of the whole system. And that is exactly what happened.”
“The only thing that saved civilization in that period, was the struggle of the United States, to create the United States”
“We’re now at the point where the corruption of the United States, has reached the point, that if we don’t beat the Empire now, in what it’s trying to do, and what it’s trying to do with nuclear threats right now, we’re lost. Civilization is lost”.

circumstances and, by warning of this, to try to deter it.”

  8. Dr Mahathir Mohamad
    Salam Hormat

Saya tertarik dengan sebuah cerita di Al Jazeera yang merangkup banyak hal-hal yang timbul dari posting ini.

    Opinion
    The neuroeconomics revolution
Much of modern economic and financial theory is based on the assumption that people are rational, says author.

New Haven, CT – Economics is at the start of a revolution that is traceable to an unexpected source: medical schools and their research facilities. Neuroscience – the science of how the brain, that physical organ inside one’s head, really works – is beginning to change the way we think about how people make decisions. These findings will inevitably change the way we think about how economies function. In short, we are at the dawn of “neuroeconomics”.

Efforts to link neuroscience to economics have occurred mostly in just the last few years, and the growth of neuroeconomics is still in its early stages. But its nascence follows a pattern: revolutions in science tend to come from completely unexpected places. A field of science can turn barren if no fundamentally new approaches to research are on the horizon. Scholars can become so trapped in their methods – in the language and assumptions of the accepted approach to their discipline – that their research becomes repetitive or trivial.

Then something exciting comes along from someone who was never involved with these methods – some new idea that attracts young scholars and a few iconoclastic old scholars, who are willing to learn a different science and its different research methods. At a certain moment in this process, a scientific revolution is born.

The neuroeconomic revolution has passed some key milestones quite recently, notably the publication last year of neuroscientist Paul Glimcher’s book Foundations of Neuroeconomic Analysis – a pointed variation on the title of Paul Samuelson’s 1947 classic work, Foundations of Economic Analysis, which helped to launch an earlier revolution in economic theory. And Glimcher himself now holds an appointment at New York University’s economics department (he also works at NYU’s Centre for Neural Science).

To most economists, however, Glimcher might as well have come from outer space. After all, his doctorate is from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine’s neuroscience department. Moreover, neuroeconomists like him conduct research that is well beyond their conventional colleagues’ intellectual comfort zone, for they seek to advance some of the core concepts of economics by linking them to specific brain structures.

Much of modern economic and financial theory is based on the assumption that people are rational, and thus that they systematically maximise their own happiness, or as economists call it, their “utility”. When Samuelson took on the subject in his 1947 book, he did not look into the brain, but relied instead on “revealed preference”. People’s objectives are revealed only by observing their economic activities. Under Samuelson’s guidance, generations of economists have based their research not on any physical structure underlying thought and behaviour, but only on the assumption of rationality.

As a result, Glimcher is skeptical of prevailing economic theory, and is seeking a physical basis for it in the brain. He wants to transform “soft” utility theory into “hard” utility theory by discovering the brain mechanisms that underlie it.

In particular, Glimcher wants to identify brain structures that process key elements of utility theory when people face uncertainty: “(1) subjective value, (2) probability, (3) the product of subjective value and probability (expected subjective value), and (4) a neurocomputational mechanism that selects the element from the choice set that has the highest ‘expected subjective value…'”

While Glimcher and his colleagues have uncovered tantalising evidence, they have yet to find most of the fundamental brain structures. Maybe that is because such structures simply do not exist, and the whole utility-maximisation theory is wrong, or at least in need of fundamental revision. If so, that finding alone would shake economics to its foundations.

Another direction that excites neuroscientists is how the brain deals with ambiguous situations, when probabilities are not known, and when other highly relevant information is not available. It has already been discovered that the brain regions used to deal with problems when probabilities are clear are different from those used when probabilities are unknown. This research might help us to understand how people handle uncertainty and risk in, say, financial markets at a time of crisis.

John Maynard Keynes thought that most economic decision-making occurs in ambiguous situations in which probabilities are not known. He concluded that much of our business cycle is driven by fluctuations in “animal spirits”, something in the mind – and not understood by economists.

Of course, the problem with economics is that there are often as many interpretations of any crisis as there are economists. An economy is a remarkably complex structure, and fathoming it depends on understanding its laws, regulations, business practices and customs, and balance sheets, among many other details.

Yet it is likely that one day, we will know much more about how economies work – or fail to work – by understanding better the physical structures that underlie brain functioning. Those structures – networks of neurons that communicate with each other via axons and dendrites – underlie the familiar analogy of the brain to a computer – networks of transistors that communicate with each other via electric wires. The economy is the next analogy: a network of people who communicate with each other via electronic and other connections.

The brain, the computer and the economy: all three are devices whose purpose is to solve fundamental information problems in coordinating the activities of individual units – the neurons, the transistors or individual people. As we improve our understanding of the problems that any one of these devices solves – and how it overcomes obstacles in doing so – we learn something valuable about all three.

    Dear Tun,
I am sure you know about the recent NATO air attack that killed at least
two dozen Pakistani (all 28) soldiers over the weekend… The reaction
inside Pakistan followed a non-familiar pattern of anger and retaliation…
Even in Europe, they hope to reassure financial markets and encourage
the European Central Bank to do more to fight the deepening debt crisis
on the Continent… They did have their own problem while still
disgustingly busy body in other people countries… Pakistan had reason
to feel that the United States had violated its sovereignty. Sovereignty
my ass!! It was Pakistan herself invited the US to their country, right?
I really hope Malaysia is going to solve our problem on our own, without
the interference of anybody. And go to hell toilet with the democracy
while I dont think its wrong to apply our own version of governance
system or at least our own version of democracy. Just dont care what other
people shouting at us while we already survived our 1998 economic crisis.
Hey plus with our Petronas Twin Tower, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Biotech
Valley of Dengkil, TM Malaysia, Proton Malaysia, TNB Berhad, PLUS Highway
and Sime Derby – we have all upper hand cards, isnt it? We engineered
everything with our own capability so dont bother with all shits outsider.
The pattern is gonna be decided by our civilization, then let Malaysia
    be the Tiger…

  11. Dear Tun, hope you are in good health.

I’d just like to add that David Cameron was elected by a minority, I don’t know if that is democracy today. When Ghadaffi offered to hold free elections, NATO refused and installed the self admitting Al-Qaeda-run NTC to govern Libya, that is not democracy. A real democracy is what was run by the Libyan Jamahiriya.

In fact, speaking about “democracy” at all is as absurd as it is hilarious since the only truly democratic system of governance is the Libyan Jamahiriya, thought up and implemented by Muammar al-Qathafi – a system based upon self-regulating communities called People’s Councils who decide who their leaders should be, draw up plans for the community members and request funding and equipment for their needs, the role of the central Government being to distribute wealth and serve the interests of the people.

  14. YTM Tun,
The Italians themselves did all of this. The PM resigned, the President invited Monti to form a caretaker govt and the legislative body did not torpedo him.

They did cos the markets lost confidence in the leadership of Berlusconi, esp. when the Italian cost of debt shot up by 7%. Berlusconi did the honourable thing by resigning from the post, even though ostentatiously he was facing criminal prosecution because he wanted to save the italian people.

Such actions are bold and reflect a more selfless nature. In 1998, the markets wanted Suharto to resign, and eventually he did. 10 years on, Indonesia has come a long way, is attracting more investment and is growing faster than many countries including Malaysia. Similarly in 1998, the markets wanted a change in Malaysia too, for the betterment of the country. Unfortunately, the PM then did not follow the example of other leaders. Who knows how modern and advanced Malaysia instead of being a kleptocracy where the citizens are sold tainted chili sauce, all in the name of 1 Malayisa

  15. The thing is to always keep in things in balance. Too much of one thing is never a good thing. The sad thing is when people never realized it – and we have people yelling ‘Yay democracy!’ without knowing what it really means. I’m getting really jaded over statements like that.

Also congratulations Tun for setting up the war tribunal, and kudos to those who participated in the tribunal. No one else in Malaysia would’ve dared to do it. There may be people who belittles your effort, but know that there’re countless others in the world who lauded you for what you have done.

    Thank you.

  17. Democrary not being a perfect system will require override when required. However, bear in mind the intervention must be last resort and for very short term.

Intervention to democracy must not be made into excuse to stay as dictator which is far greater bad if left for long run. For example it is arguably that ISA has been used far too many times too frequent to be acceptable.

  18. Salam Tun,

  19. Dear Dr Mahathir
    Salaams

    The Positronic Malay
(he wants to be an insan not just another umno member)

Democracy And Oligarchy is short posting.
I wonder why Demo&Oli is here when next week is Perhimpunan Agung UMNO. There should be other things on our minds, too; if just to fill the time with good thoughts when one is blessed with useful times.

Bernama (http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsindex.php?id=629653) said Dr Mahathir said those making criticism must be careful so that the matters raised were not used as issues by the opposition. That is a clever thought, I say.

Democracy of the Americans and Euro has failed when with their capitalist abuses seek Oligarchic China to help them out of the present financial crisis. Now, how is the PRC trying to help out? Can PRC go alone to help them out of the crisis or will it be proved contagious unless help is given wisely prescribed and diligently, intelligently carried out.

The present financial crisis is both fragile and complex, the way one see it. In America, there is the Occupy Wall Street movement. There is a facebook page created for Cause called Occupy Wall Street (http://www.facebook.com/Gilded.Age?sk=info) and on the info page it is stated Mission
To end corporate corruption of our governments and our lives. As of writing, OWS is in it’s 70th day. There is a posting Senators Demand the Military Lock Up American Citizens in a “Battlefield” They Define as Being Right (www.aclu.org) that one would read again if one find it needing going over.

In China, they have started trading gold in Hong Kong. Where does China gets her supply of gold from and how does China converts semi-worthless but important papers into more credit-worthy things. There are talks of a housing bubble and food price inflation.

This posting is a very nice distraction from thinking too much about the PAU. You can’t have too much PAU in you. It will give you a lot of gas.

Holding on to that thought, it is good, too to know that Dr Mahahtir is not thinking of how can Malaysia go about helping both Demo&Oli and still be Merdeka enough to deliver Vision2020 and at the same time please the Arabs, the Palestinians, the Mid East if not the world in the end. Which is a much, much heavier excuse for one to dwell on than pleasing oneself and please one’s lord, a positronic malay would reason.

If only one could know more about the capitalist abuses, then one can try to seek for solution when one understands the causes, don’t you think, Dr Mahathir?

    Sekian dan Thank You.

  20. Assalamualaikum Tun, may Allah bless you for your efforts.

It’s observable that democracy and oligarchy are not mutually exclusive.

For example POTUS and politicians in the US are dependent on the financial support of powerful figures in the corporate world for their campaigns and craft policies in support of their financiers in return .

With reference to Tun’s previous post on Sexual Merdeka, here is an article by Sheikh Imran Hosein that I’d like to share with all the readers. Food for thought.

The Feminist Revolution and The Last Age
    Articles – Women in Islam
    Wednesday, 01 Sha’ban 1428

The Qur’an likened the creation of the male and the female to that of the ‘night’ and the ‘day’, implying that they complement each other “… like twin-halves of a whole.” But they are also functionally different; hence a successful and harmonious male-female relationship requires that the ‘day’ (i.e. the male) must function as ‘day’ and not try to become ‘night’, and similarly the ‘night’ (i.e., woman) must function as ‘night’ (which covers and conceals) and not try to become ‘day’. Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) ordered, “. . when a girl reaches the age of puberty nothing must be seen of her body except this and this (he pointed to the face and hands).” And so Muslim women have always covered themselves in Hijab—concealing arms, legs, bellies, head, hair, etc., in loose-fitting clothing.

Since women have a basic function of bearing and rearing children it was necessary that they be freed of an obligation to earn their livelihood. Thus the Qur’an obliged men to maintain, as well as to guard and protect them, and, in turn, obliged a woman to be obedient to her husband or guardian. Men and women ought to marry in Allah’s blessed name, and live in accordance with His guidance. Then, says the Qur’an, “… Allah places love and kindness betwix their hearts” in consequence of which they experience Sukun, i.e., peace, contentment and tranquility.
But Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) warned that among the signs of the Last Day was Dajjal the False Messiah or Anti-Christ. “… The last people to follow him would be women”, and his spell over women would be such that “… a man would have to return to his home and tie down (i.e., coercively restrain) his wife, sister and daughter to protect them from being seduced by Dajjal.” This prophecy indicated that women would be deceived and swept off their feet by something that would turn their world upside down. It would appear to be positive, whereas the reality would be destructive. Indeed, it would be in consequence of Dajjal’s attack that the ‘night’ would attempt to become ‘day’.

The Prophet prophesied 1400 years ago that women would “… dress like men”. This is already manifesting in the modern feminist revolution. He also prophesied, “… women would be dressed and yet be naked”, indicating that the feminist revolution would spawn a sexual revolution that would culminate with people committing “… sexual intercourse in public like donkeys.” One has to be absolutely blind not to recognize that this prophecy is today fulfilled. Trinidad’s Carnival, for example, is now dominated by women many of whom are bent on parading their nakedness in a truly pagan public display of flesh and vulgarity. And many there must be who participated in Carnival yesterday, but who today turn away in disgust!

The best secular response to this wanton destruction of every sacred value that binds the sexes together is a public distribution of condoms. The implication of this dramatic and ominous fulfilment of those prophesies is that a society that so corrupts itself eventually self destructs. Neither government nor opposition have a clue of how to prevent such an ignominious end.

“The sun rising from the West”, which is a major sign of the Last Day, appears to represent modern Western civilization’s ‘upside down’ world in which, among many other things, women abandon their primary responsibility of rearing children in order to dress like men and go out to work full-time the way men do. The daycare center becomes the new Mummy. The child never forgets, and never forgives this neglect. And so children rebel and become uncontrollable, even for the police. But they also pay back their parents in the same coin by placing them, in their old age, in daycare centers for the aged that are really junkyards of human beings. Truly, modern Western civilization’s feminist revolution has succeeded in causing the ‘night’ to become ‘day’ with dire consequences for society. Yet, with a deceptive smile, that false Western sunrise declares to her, “You’ve come a long way baby.”

1- Whatever systems, would only be a success if it has the right person at the helm.

2-Only if that chap (a) has great leadership skills (b) really knows his stuff-knowledge/communication plus all other relevant skills(c) sincerely fears God,and (d) feel that God ever watches over him, (e) believes he is truly answerable to God for everything he does in this world, (f) That the only thing that will make him happy is his ability to sincerely solve all the problems of his people irrespective of whoever they are (g) And constantly the only thing on his mind -day and night-the air that he breathes-is the thinking of how can he make his people the happiest people in this wide world.(h) And won’t rest until ALL has been achieved (i) He will do what is right, dangerous or not because that is his responsibility(i) because his only TRUE motivation in anything he does is to seek God’s pleasure and to Achieve God’s everlasting paradise, the only real success worth seeking for..

3-If we can find such a person give him any system -DEMO OR OLIGARCHAIC-and it will be a great success. But where on earth can we find such a guy?

4-Only when God really want to bless a Nation will God send him, that is for sure.

5-Otherwise just be happy with all the imperfections of our system without having to brag or force it upon others.

6- Especially when the whole world can see our people camping and screaming on the streets to let the whole world join them in their sorrow.

7-And letting the world know how their one percent is controlling the 99 percent in a supposedly democratic system..

    Thanks Tun

Your comments are succinct and to the point.
In October 1969, I made one of my many voyages of discovery and this one was to Australia. This was well before its discovery by the tycoons, the MCA people and the wage-earner. Somehow, I had the idea in my head that it was a bigoted country. Maybe, I picked up the phrase from one of its prime ministers ‘ Two Wongs don’t make a right ‘. However, I came away from the country after some rough treatment by the Immigration Dept., and came to the conclusion that Australia was governed by the big landowners, the farmers, the universities, the Jewish lobby, the Church, the industrialists, the miners and the civil servants. This comprised of the 1% elite. The other 99% worked a 4-day week and enjoyed themselves drinking on Friday evenings, the boys with the boys and the girls with the girls. I suppose we may call this an oligarchy in practice.
The greatest irony of all is the very people, the Arabs who were suppressed and oppressed for centuries by the West, now sit on solid wealth, the huge reserves of oil in the whole of the Middle East. The Arabs live in lands artificially carved out by the British, French and Italians after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The huge paper debt in the West which is worthless is now balanced against this oil reserve. Oil is more important than gold which may only influence the mountains of paper currency so printed. Oil is essential for life, the very existent of humankind on this planet. And every night, we see on our television what paper money had brought to the world’s economy by its collapse giving rise to distrust and loss of confidence in the world’s financial system.
With all the injustices which the Arabs suffered then and now, how is the West going to serve out justice and democracy to put back the genie into the bottle which they have created at the expense of these ancient civilisations in the past when they were all mighty and the Arabs were downtrodden? The West used to deposed and set-up despotic rulers as though it was as easy as changing shirts. The earlier examples of India and China, even Malaysia come to mind. An imperialist could not press a good people down.

Thank you standing up against Andrewtay but please check again. It is not in Al Quran.Conceptually we can say it is right but Islam is to the letter.Contextually there is no verse in Al Quran saying it as it is eventhough it is mention in hadith.

  24. Salam Tun,

Any governmental system is not 100% perfect but killing is definitely 100% wrong.

There is pro and con for each chosen system. The case of Italy only show how the element of Oligarchy can be embedded in a democratic nation. PLD is still elected democratically but the prime minister is chosen in oligarchic manner, with conditions to be followed such as not to raise wealth tax and so on.

China is actually semi-democratic., a fusion between communism and democracy. Why ?

    1) Mainland China is based on modified communism system where wealth can be accumulated by private entities. In the pure communist countrry, all wealth belong to the government.

    2) Hong Kong and Macau government and city council is elected democratically.

The problem is religious freedom is limitedly allowed by China and several other freedom limitation.

When western countries are looking at China, they hint to China to provide financial assistance so that they can continuously buy made in China product. That is still positive, I supposed. The negative reaction that may or will occur, if they decide to raise import tax as to reduce competitive advantage of asian made product and simulate the GDP of their country. Which may not happen because many of western manufacturer are manufacturing in Asia. which contribute to their GNP and doing so, may cause a painful relocation exercise by the european capitalist.

Considering, the relocation to China is dependent on the cost of doing business in China, then the economic problem in western countries may slowly reduce as the inflation in China increase. But that does not guarantee a relocation to their based country because as the China cost increase, they may choose to move to India or other Asian countries that seem to have a free capitalist system.

It seems the bond yield is increasing in Europe which hint at increase of interest rates. When this happen, commodities prices may drop. Unless Malaysia is able to create and be innovative, then Malaysia GNP will reduce. I stop at that point of course, if we really wish to think there are several points that need to be taught off.

  27. Salam Tun,

Good People Must Control Government or Evil People Will.

Good Oligarch must Exist as defense against Evil Oligarch.

Russian Oligarchs is battling Anglo-American Oligarch against the US missile defense near Russian Border.

a Gun can be use for Evil or for Good.

  28. Askm Tun, May Allah grace you with good health and greater wisdom.

This is to confirm that all man-made concepts are not at all perfect as they make them to appear by pure perceptions & lies.

We, with greatest humility, should always say that ” all things of less perfect are of my own doings but only good things are all from Allah, the all Mighty, Merciful and Benevolent.”

We always wish and believe that today should be better than yesterday and hope that tomorrow should be better than today. Is it really happening or just a HOPE.

Whereas in Quran, we have been warned that today is WORST than yesterday and tomorow will be WORST than today. this is indeed true if you look at in the religious propspective. Isn’t it true that our society morality, integrity, trustworthiness etc getting deteriorating by the day?

So behold to Prophet’s ( PBUH ) words that ” I left you all with 2 things, Quran & my Sunnah ( through hadiths ). If you hold & refer to these 2 things, you will never be astrayed “. By accepting and holding to these words of wisdom from our Prophet PBUH, we will be assured to safety in our journey with full of challenges ( with distractions and perceptions ) as to achieve our desire to the ultimate purpose in our life.. to be in Allah’s paradise, INSYA’ALLH.

    Izinkan,
    1. America and Europe are the great proponents of Democracy. It is the greatest system of Government. It will make countries great. Democracy guarantees there will be no oppression of the citizens (oppressing and killing other people is okay of course).
.. and Allah SWT guarantees HIS wrath to the oppressors in a ‘strange’ way… so they say… ehmm?

    ALFATIHAH, AMIN

  30. Salam Tun,

    Thanks for highlighting this.

This is certainly a joke – for years they have been telling people to accept democracy and they will go as far as killing innocent people to make sure democracy prevails in other countries. At the same time they make huge business deal with non-democratic countries. Now, they owe trillions of dollars from China. If this is not hypocrisy, I do not know what it is.

Tun, I remember what you said about democracy in BBC Hardtalk interview. What happened in Italy i.e. appointing non-elected government is an epitome of scrapping democracy altogether. I pray to Allah that you and Tun Hasmah will live long to witness this.

    The hour is near.
