AMERICA’S BLOCKADE OF IRAN

1. I have been criticising America’s blockade of Iran.

2. America’s action is said to be due to Iran’s nuclear weapons programme.

3. Israel has 200 nuclear warheads and obviously poses a greater threat to Iran than Iran’s threat against its neighbours.

4. Am I being unnecessarily critical of the United States?

Below is part of an article by Brian A Burchill of Global Research E-Newsletter, Canada which seems to validate my stand. For the full article please see “>here

IRAN: THE TERRORISM TRUMP CARD

By Brian A. Burchill

Global Research, April 3, 2012

The UK’s Guardian recently interviewed “current and former U.S. and European officials with access to intelligence on Iran,” and concluded that the United States, its European allies, and even Israel, agree that Tehran is probably years away from having a deliverable nuclear warhead.

Twice in recent weeks, CBC News anchor Peter Mansbridge has closely questioned two leaders who hold a different view.
In a January 18th interview, Prime Minister Stephen Harper told Mansbridge that he thinks that “the evidence is…overwhelming” and that it “is just beyond dispute at this point” that Iran’s purpose is to develop nuclear weapons. When pressed about Iran’s insistence that it has no intention to build nuclear weapons, Harper said “I think there is absolutely no doubt they are lying”.

Harper’s claims are all-too-reminiscent of US Former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s February, 2003, statement at the UN that, with “facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence”.

There was no doubt in his mind that Saddam Hussein was working to obtain key components to produce nuclear weapons.

That intelligence has since been exposed as lies. In fact, the Iraqi chemical engineer who perpetrated the false intelligence, Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, confessed his lies on British television April 3rd.

Also troubling is that Harper cited the International Atomic Energy Commission, but in the March 22nd Guardian, the agency’s former director-general, Hans Blix, raised concerns about its recent credibility. The IAEC has been charged with over-reliance on unverified intelligence, and pro-Western bias, since the 2009 arrival of its new chief, Yukiya Amano.

More recently, Harper’s conclusion was thrown into question during a CBC News One on One interview with US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta, aired last weekend.

Panetta first stated that the best US intelligence has concluded that Iran has not made the decision to build a nuclear weapon. He went on to say that Iran is involved in providing non-nuclear weapons to terrorist-associated groups outside the country.

However, when Mansbridge queried whether containment was an effective policy (sealing off the country to prevent weapons exports to outsiders), Panetta then contradicted his own intelligence claim by saying the US was going to apply economic and diplomatic sanctions because “we cannot allow a country that supports terrorism to have a nuclear weapon.”

When pushed to justify the sanctions, Panetta played the debate-ending trump card – the supposed threat of Muslim terrorism – the card spawned by 9/11.

Thus ended the Panetta news segment – Mansbridge did not challenge whether hidden, ubiquitous, amorphous terrorism was a factor in the case of Iran.

  5. Salam Tun and All,

My guess is that the attack on Iran could be inevitable. Another classical Dessert Storm movie. The New World Order will be completed. Its time to wake up and smell the rosses. May Allah have mercy on us….

Hi Red1, I read your link on the Pendatang Dengan Izin. It was beautiful man…

  6. We need to stop cowering and put a stand at Iran side. We must go againts the US. Dont be afraid at all. We must make a stand. We must be brave.

  7. Whatever said and done, Iran and North Korea remain a threat to the World. Any country for that matter who for some peculiar reason thinks that it’s timely to have Nuclear Powers have certainly lost their marbles and must be dealt with at whatever cost.

  8. Tun,

Has Israel threatened to annihilate anyone with its nuclear arsenal.
If Iran wants a nuke, Saudi will want one, Sudan will want one,
Syria will want one, Egypt will want one etc, etc, etc. If these countries
butcher their people without so much as an iota of remorse or restraint.
Do you think that they will behave any differently with Israel? As far as
i’m concerned Israel will need a lot more than 200 nukes to hold off a
percentage of 1.5 Billion Muslims who have nightly ‘Wet Dreams’ of
    annihilating her.

Criticize all you want Tun. Everyday that Israel exists, is to me, memories
of my Uncle the Malaysian Jew. This is from someone who arrogantly said
‘But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight
and die for them.’ Who did my Uncle rule and who did he get to die for him?

Iran has not threatened Israel? Calling Israel a ‘Dead Man’,’Stinking Corpse’,
‘Will be wiped off’,’Israels days are numbered’ etc are terms of endearment?
Those who think that Mahdiholic in Tehran can be reasoned with
are blind followers or delaying time as a stratagem

It was Sun Tzu that said “The value of time, that is of being a little ahead
of your opponent, often provides greater advantage than superior numbers or
    greater resources.”

Per Prof_ridcully, the Dolphin submarines are most likely able to launch nuclear
Popeye cruise missiles through its torpedo tubes. Israeli invention. As well,
they have the capability to fire tactical low yield neutron warheads on artillery
platforms against invading armies. Israeli invention. The ECM capability on their
F-16 Sufas are going to blind and jam all their enemies missiles and radar.
Israeli invention. The Iron Dome has been proven to work. It is a superior system
to the Patriot(US) as it is able to determine the precise trajectory and target area.
Israeli invention. No need to shoot Iran’s nukes down if Tehran miscalculates and
it lands on Amman, Jordan or Mecca, Saudi. Israel has not unleashed her full
military weight. This time around don’t expect them to give back Gaza, Sinai and
allow terrorists to stay within their borders in Ramallah, Nablus, Jericho,
Jerusalem etc. Israel’s edge is its know-how and knowledge (Praise Hashem).
You need a big stick when crazed Islamo-facists want to murder Jews for being Jews.

  10. Salam Tun,

I should like to quote here the comments of General Benny Ganz, Israeli military chief, to the Haaretz newspaper on 25 April as a matter of record:

IDF chief to Haaretz: I do not believe Iran will decide to develop nuclear weapons

Iran, Gantz says, “is going step by step to the place where it will be able to decide whether to manufacture a nuclear bomb. It hasn’t yet decided whether to go the extra mile.”

As long as its facilities are not bomb-proof, “the program is too vulnerable, in Iran’s view. If the supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wants, he will advance it to the acquisition of a nuclear bomb, but the decision must first be taken. It will happen if Khamenei judges that he is invulnerable to a response. I believe he would be making an enormous mistake, and I don’t think he will want to go the extra mile. I think the Iranian leadership is composed of very rational people. But I agree that such a capability, in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists who at particular moments could make different calculations, is dangerous.”

Ganz includes the customary sobriquet of ‘Islamic fundamentalists’ to anyone who opposes the zionist regime, of course, but it cannot escape anyone, even CNN fans, that Iran is not building a nuclear bomb.

  11. Dear Tun,

I always have positive outlook towards Barak Obama, an intelligent and intellectual President of the United States of America. Unlike the three wicked trio of Bush, Dick Cheney and Ronald Rumfields who conspired and plotted to invade Iraq by manufacturing false evidence of WMD, Obama has enough dignity, honour and common sense to avoid being a crook, notwithstanding what Israel wants America to do.

America’s blockade of Iran could possibly be due to encouragement or demand by Israel. The evil one in this case is Israel who plays the dirty and yet unseen hand. The Arabs would never be on friendly terms with the Jewish state after being killed, bombed, bullied and so many so-called pre-emptive invasion. Nobody can easily forget such atrocities inflicted on them.

    amin tan

  12. Peace!

Criticising the US will not help Iran. What we really need to do is to act. I believe, in current situation, there are only two options available…

    1. Buy oil from Iran and sell goods and services to Iran ‘legally’ (if we dare!).

    2. ‘Illegally’ buy oil from Iran and ‘illegally’ sell goods and services to Iran (if we dare also!).

As reported by The Guardian (UK edition) last year, drug gangs succeeded in laundering USD 378.4 billions of drug money into US.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/apr/03/us-bank-mexico-drug-gangs

America can’t even monitor dirty money which enters their country. Can they monitor Iran’s ‘dirty oil money’ which not necessarily goes into Iran?

As such, it is possible to launder Iran’s oil money and the payment which we’ll receive from Iran.

    http://money.howstuffworks.com/money-laundering.htm

If we really want to help Iran we should then start buying their oil and sell goods and services to them.

As such, we need to choose whether to do it ‘legally’ or ‘illegally’. Just don’t trade in USD… use other currencies. If it’s too complicated to launder the money, we’ll pay Iran with gold then. If it’s difficult to pay with gold (logistic and security issues), we’ll do barter trade then… their crude oil for our palm oil and condoms!!!

    Rgds.

  15. Salam Tun;

America will do anything to justify their plan to attack Iran as what they did to Iraq. Can we believe the 3 high buildings ( 2 world trade center buildings and Building 7 ) felt down all the to the ground when hit by just 2 airplanes?? Free falling within few seconds without resistance..

Can metal melt that fast and concretes turned to powder within few seconds ?? Willing to kill their own citizen but not jews… surprising facts ?? Planes that hit Pentagon just disappeared … magic ??? No photos from security cameras or even satellite photos that clearly show how that plane actually hit Pentagon … miracle ???

See if they will blow up their white house /capital / monuments etc to justify the attack against Iran… maybe not this time.

Sehinggakan terdengar khabar bahawa yang akan membebaskan baitulmuqqaddis adalah orang melayu.

  17. Salam Tun,

As you yourself mentioned in a previous article The United States is a satellite state of Israel haha.

So it makes perfect sense what is happening now. The US is merely trying to protect the illegitimate jewish regime from its potentially biggest threat Iran.

Reminiscent of the WMD lies perpetuated in 2003 to justify their invasion of Iraq.

The Americans are bullshitters of the highest order while the zionist jews are the modern day nazis.

  19. Assalamu’alaikum Tun

    terimakasih Tun

  20. Asalam’kum Tun,

I saw an article on Iran in The Strait Times (Singapore) under Global Perspectives. This article is entitle “Javier Solana – Talking To Iran” What is your views on this Tun?

<MADRID – The latest round of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program between Iran and the so-called '5+1' group (the United Nations Security Council's five permanent members – the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, and China – plus Germany) has now begun. Following more than a year of deadlock, after negotiations in January 2011 led nowhere, this dialogue is for many the last chance to find a peaceful solution to a nearly decade-long conflict (in which I participated closely from 2006 to 2009 as the West's main negotiator with Iran).
The objective of the talks, chaired by the European Union's foreign-policy chief, Catherine Ashton, and Iran's chief negotiator, Saeed Jalili, is still to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment and to comply with Security Council resolutions and its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. But several factors heighten the current negotiations' strategic importance.
First, domestic economic and political conditions in Iran have changed markedly since the last round of talks. International pressure has mounted since the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed last November that the country's nuclear program was advancing towards the production of nuclear arms, rather than electricity or medical isotopes, with new sanctions imposed on Iranian oil exports and on transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.
Although rising global energy prices have given Iran some respite in recent months, the sanctions have made themselves felt more than ever among Iranian consumers. The rial has lost 40 per cent of its value since October (making imports less affordable), and financial transactions have become much more expensive and difficult for the government, businesses, and households alike.
Moreover, Iran's leadership is fragmented and weak. Relations between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei continue to deteriorate, while tensions are growing within the Revolutionary Guard. It remains to be seen what impact these political developments will have on the negotiations.
Second, Iran's regional standing has been shaken by the wave of Arab revolts, especially in Syria – a decisive country, given its strategic relations with both Iran and Russia. Indeed, Syria is Iran's main ally in the Middle East, as well as being the only country outside of the former Soviet Union in which Russia has a military base. Russia's need to reconcile its role in these negotiations with its interests in Syria makes an already-complicated dialogue more difficult.
The strategy with respect to the Gulf's Sunni monarchies has also changed. Today, these countries are more at odds with both Iran and Syria than they have been for decades. Led by Qatar and Saudi Arabia, they have openly admitted the possibility of arming Syrian rebels in order to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. Moreover, Saudi Arabia's oil reserves enable it to give crucial support to oil-export sanctions on Iran by offsetting the loss of global supply.
China, with its growing energy dependency on the Gulf states, will have to weigh that factor carefully at the negotiating table. Along with Russia, China has backed Syria in the Security Council, and it was recently revealed that Iran helped Syria to defy international sanctions by providing a ship to transport oil from Syria to a state-owned company in China.
Third, Israel, already unhappy with the outcome of the previous round of negotiations, is becoming increasingly uneasy. With Iran's nuclear program advancing and political uncertainty looming over the region, Israel supports a military operation against Iran in 2012, before, in the words of Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak, it crosses the 'immunity zone,' beyond which intervention would be futile.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking last month to the membership of AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel lobby in the US, emphasised the urgency of the situation. But the negotiations will be long, with many ups and downs, and, to add another layer of complexity, are taking place during an election year in the US, with the opposition Republican Party more closely aligned with Netanyahu's position.
Finally, US President Barack Obama knows that his reelection depends on avoiding mistakes in this matter. But how can a lengthy negotiation be carried out without seeming to benefit the party, which wants to gain more time? Political optics – that is, the management of public perceptions – will be a very important part of this negotiation.
For now, America is keeping a channel open for direct dialogue with Iran (as US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta warned Barak months ago). On the first day of the talks in Istanbul, Jalili accepted a US request for a bilateral meeting within the context of the negotiations, and all participants deemed the results so far to be a step in the right direction.
If we want to ensure that Iran never has a nuclear weapon, the only guarantee is to change its desire to possess one. And the best way to do that is still by negotiating, rather than by using force. No one has calculated the consequences of a war. Everyone has good reason to sit down and talk.

  25. Salam Tun,

I think the ‘kira-kira’ is simple: Iran is a signatory of the NPT. It does not possess nuclear weapons. Israel is a non-signatory of the NPT. It has about 200 nuclear warheads. Israel has also taken delivery of nuclear-capable submarines. News reports say two subs were spotted — they have to surface while traversing the canal — traversing the Suez Canal into the Red Sea. So who is threatening who?

Why can’t Iran pursue its stated aim of developing nuclear technology for medical and research purposes? Iran’s real leader, Ayatollah Khamanei, has issued several fatwas ruling that WMD are ‘haram.’ Ahmadinejad may stand up to the US and Israel, but even he has to yield to Khamanei’s diktat. In fact most Iranians are in two minds about nuclear weapons but what is clear though is that the vast majority think they have a right — as signatory of the NPT — to access and develop nuclear technology.

The US government has no choice but to blockade Iran. Israel ordered it to do so. Strategically, Israel is afraid that should Iran — or any Arab country for that matter — acquire nuclear weapons, then its main bargaining chip, the ability to inflict a nuclear holocaust on an offending country without a reply in kind, would go up in smoke. Then it would really be vulnerable to the natural course of justice for the Palestinians.

All that talk about a nuclear Iran being an existential threat is hogwash. Israel’s deputy prime minister admitted just as much on TV.

  26. Peace!

    My previous comment refers.

Recently, there was an accusation of oil smuggling from Iraq into Israel via Jordan and Iran might be involved also.

    http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/04/19/208921.html

It is also said that Saddam Hussein ‘smuggled out’ 140,000 barrels of oil a day during the UN embargo on Iraq.

It is also said that South Africa ‘smuggled in’ 280,000 barrels of oil a day during the UN apartheid embargo by methods such as the mid-sea transshipment of oil from one tanker to another.

As such, there is a huge possibility that Iran is ‘smuggling out’ its oil by sea.

    http://oilandglory.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2012/04/16/the_oil_smugglers_of_tehran

With borders more than 6,000 km long (including 2,400 km of water borders), is it possible for America to monitor 100% of Iran’s borders with all their high-tech toys? America can’t even monitor their own US-Mexico border for Mexico stolen oil smuggling activities. They can’t even trace their own big fish of the stolen oil smugglers who sold 10% of the oil coming into the port of Houston. Or maybe they just close one eye?

    http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2009/08/oil-smuggling-is-it-time-to-start-worrying-yet/23303/

    http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-201_162-5231681.html

At market price of USD 120 per barrel of oil and estimated production cost of USD 10 to USD 15 per barrel, Iran could easily sell its oil at between USD 30 to USD 100 per barrel in the ‘black market’.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2009/07/28/oil-cost-factbox-idUSLS12407420090728

Iran could at least get USD 840 million per month if they could sell 280,000 barrels of oil per day @USD 100 per barrel (Well they can’t sell it too cheap as they also need to pay ‘kickbacks’).

Malaysia may then buy Iran’s ‘black market’ oil at a discounted price and give more subsidy to Malaysians. With experience in oil trading, Ananda Krishnan could play the role as the bad guy. He’ll buy Iran’s oil from their ‘bad guy’, bribe few officials in Petronas and deliver the Iran oil to Sungai Udang.

What’s the risk? The same thing will happen like what happened to Mavi Marmara, America will intercept the oil tanker. The worst scenerio is… America will shoot the oil tanker. The worst of the worst scenario is… it will ignite a war.

Well… this is just my imagination. Please don’t take it seriously. My point is… with the help of others (including us), Iran could still ‘smuggle out’ its oil, ‘smuggle in’ goods and services and launder their oil money.

    Rgds.

  27. Peace,

Sanctions (economic, bilateral, financial etc.), embargo and blockade during non war period is an unfair action as it directly affect the people.

AMERICA IS NOT ALONE in this. The UN, EU and other countries (INCLUDING MALAYSIA) are EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE also.

As such, to criticizing the US alone is ‘unfair’ to the US as we should also criticize the UN, EU and other countries (INCLUDING MALAYSIA) which are directly involved in these sanctions/embargo/blockade.

    Why do these sanctions/embargo/blockade ‘succeed’?

These sanctions ‘succeed’ because MONEY IS OUR PRIORITY, because money is our god. It is the god of all countries. No government will take the risk of being replaced. Hence, we choose money over being fair to the Iranians and the sanctions/embargo/blockade continue… and the people of Iran suffer.

I believe there are only two ways to stop these sanctions.

    1. Iran needs to bow down to US.

    2. All other countries need not to bow down to US.

Between these two, which one is better?

I believe, the MAIN priority of goods and services which Iran needs which has been badly affected by the sanctions are :-

    1. Equipment and parts for oil and gas industry

    2. Financial services for trading/import/export/payment.

I believe it is difficult to uplift these sanctions/embargo/blockade.

People smuggles all sorts of things… weapons, drugs, human, diesel, sugar, rice, etc. Smuggling is also happening in Iran. One third of the imported goods in Iran are delivered through the black market, underground economy, and illegal jetties.

The Palestinians dug tunnels into Egypt to smuggle in goods. Rather than condemning the US, maybe we should start thinking on how to smuggle more into Iran. ANYONE HAS ANY IDEA HOW WE COULD SMUGGLE THE ABOVE GOODS AND SERVICES INTO IRAN? How to ‘launder’ their payment?

    Rgds.

  28. Assalamu Alaikum Tun,

Thank you for the very interesting articles on 9/11. I just want to say that the incident had exposed the US true colours. They are willing to kill its own innocent people merely to justify its ill feeling and intention against innocent muslim countries. I hope the US people would open their mind and carefully investigate their past and present leader’s power abuse.

  29. United States has cripple Middle East
They has weaken Iraq, Afganistan, LIbya, Syria ,etc

    Unhappiness is happening there
Yet United States does not intervene
In Middle East US ask for regime change
    It,s not Regime Change intended
