FREEDOM

1. It was a spectacular show – this closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. It was not just about games. The organisers just could not confine themselves to sports. It was too good an opportunity for gaining political capital from the event. And so in the background, in enormous moving letters, was the word FREEDOM.

2. There was no indication as to whom it was directed and what the purpose was. But I am sure that immediately the thoughts that crossed the minds of the spectators and the millions of TV viewers all over the world was the need for freedom in many of the countries of the third world.

3. But may I suggest that we look also at the lack of freedom of the many independent countries of the world due to Western Hegemony.

4. Some of these countries had fought for independence from colonial rule. They had lost men and suffered much before winning what they believed was the freedom that came with their independence.

5. But are they free? It was Soekarno of Indonesia who quickly realised that the decolonised independent nations were not really free. They were still under the thumb of the former colonial masters – not too obvious of course but the pressure was as real as when they were the colonies of their European masters. They had to do what the ex-masters told them or face economic pressures, or political pressures or pressures by the International media controlled by them. Soekarno called this new form of colonialism – Neo Colonialism.

6. The West laughed at him but they nevertheless engineered his downfall. No one talked about Neo-Colonialism after that. Everyone decided it was a silly idea or maybe they thought it was dangerous to harbour such ideas.

7. But let us scrutinise the present state of the countries of the world in particular those which became independent after the last Great War. If we do, we cannot help but conclude that the so-called independent countries are still having to obey the orders of the former colonial powers headed by the super superpower which won the Cold War. The independent countries are told that the only system of Government they can have is the democratic system. This is not really bad. But the interference in the internal affairs of independent countries does not stop there. There must also be regime changes, so that candidates friendly to the West are installed. The laws of the countries must also be changed in order to serve the interests of the West. The countries should be borderless, should allow inflows and outflows of foreign capital, should allow foreign ownership of business and the acquisition of companies. The financial system must be those of the West.

8. When they change, all the so-called independent countries must follow suit. Naturally a few would not. Then the so-called international press would begin denigrating them. Eventually they would be classified as failed states or rogue states. When there is still no change in attitude, excuses would be found to apply sanctions. A UN agreement would be sought but if that is not forthcoming the sanctions would be applied anyway.

9. Sanction is the modern equivalent of the siege of old except that it is bigger in scope. A country under sanction will not only be deprived of food and medicine but will not be able to trade and may not fly aircrafts. To render sanctions effective the super superpower will force other countries to also apply sanctions. Failure to do so will result in their losing their facilities to finance trade etc.

10. In the so-called war against terrorism the weak countries of the world are forced to legislate against money laundering and terrorism. All financial transactions must be scrutinised ostensibly to prevent money from going to terrorists. Charities have actually to cease their activities because they are all suspected of financing terrorists. Money changers found their business being hampered through these new laws. The governments of most countries are forced to restrict their banks from dealing with the countries under sanctions.

11. If sanctions fail to bring the recalcitrant country to heel, it would be threatened with war. This is no empty threat. Countries have been invaded and occupied, their towns and cities razed to the ground and of course hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians killed and many more wounded and incapacitated.

12. Clearly the super superpower has arrogated itself the right to instruct, direct and command independent countries to legislate and act in accordance with the policies and agenda decided by it. All these countries are dragged into assisting the implementation of policies and actions decided upon by the super superpower which effectively placed them under sanction.

13. They are not free to act on their own or have their own policies. So when one talks about freedom, it should not be confined to the freedom of citizens of the country but also of the freedom of independent countries as well. It is quite clear that the so-called independent countries of the world are not free. They are therefore not really independent. They are actually under the control of the super superpower.

14. The freedom message at the closing of the London Olympics should also be noted by the powers which are denying freedom to the independent countries of the world. Then and only then can they take the moral high ground to preach or castigate the poor third world countries of denying freedom to their people.

    (the innocence of muslims)

The movie:  is low-budget anti-Islam film by a completely down-and-out coptic christian living in LA that has generated anti-American protests across the Arab world

The head of a Christian charity that provided its Duarte headquarters as a set for “Innocence of Muslims” said Monday that he was duped into participating in the Joseph Nassralla, president of Media for Christ, made the assertion in a statement posted on the website of anti-Muslim blogger and activist Pamela Geller.Nassralla wrote that a fellow Egyptian immigrant named Nakoula B. Nakoula had approached him last year for help making a movie about Christian persecution and said “it would examine the culture of the desert and how it is related to what is going on right now.”Nassralla said he offered the charity’s broadcast studio for 10 days of filming but had nothing further to do with movie, which depicted the prophet Muhammad as a buffoon and sexual deviant.”The final product … bore no resemblance to the film I thought he was making,” Nassralla wrote. “Nakoula altered the film without anyone’s knowledge, changing its entire focus and dubbing in new dialogue.”Nassralla, who said he was in hiding after receiving death threats, was drawn into the firestorm over the film because his charity’s name was listed on permits for the movie. In his statement, Nassralla said he was unaware that Nakoula had listed his organization on the government documents. His charity runs a satellite television network, The Way TV, which airs sermons and hymns alongside anti-Islamic rhetoric. The host of one such program is Steve Klein, a militant evangelical Christian from Riverside County who worked as a script consultant for “Innocence of Muslims.”…Even as Nassralla distanced himself from the movie, he wrote that blame for the worldwide violence triggered by the film’s trailer that was posted on YouTube lay not with the filmmakers but “those who are rioting and murdering.’…

September 17, 2012, 3:20 am 3 Comments‘Here We All Are, and Hooray For Us’By MONISHA RAJESHLONDON – It had been several years since the author Salman Rushdie was shadowed by London’s Special Branch officers, but on Friday night they were once again by his side. However, this was a celebratory occasion — to join him for the release of his latest book, “Joseph Anton: A Memoir,” in South Kensington.Accompanied by the actors Stephen Fry and Eric Idle, the authors Ian McEwan and Hanif Kureishi, the rock legends David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, and fifty publishers who had flown in from around the world, Salman Rushdie devoted the night to those who had supported him since Valentine’s Day in 1989, the day that changed his life. That morning, Mr. Rushdie received a phone call from a BBC reporter who informed him that Ayatollah Khomeini had sentenced him to death for the publication of his novel, “The Satanic Verses,” and asked how he felt. “It doesn’t feel good,” he replied. He then left his home in the London neighborhood of Islington, never to return, and spent the next nine years living under the fatwa – until the Iranian government lifted it in 1998…

He called Canada’s action “a very drastic step” and one that surprised him, too.In an interview Saturday on CBC Radio’s The House, Baird emphasized his “concern was for the safety of the men and women working at the Canadian mission,” but when asked by host Evan Solomon whether there was “something specific” he conceded there was “not a direct threat” or an increased security risk.”The mission in Tehran is not one of the safest we have,” Baird also told Solomon. “It faces a busy road and it could be overrun pretty quickly.”Janice Stein, arguably Canada’s leading Middle East expert and the director of the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, told CBC News she sees the move as an “issue of security for diplomatic personnel in Tehran as the sanctions ramp up, and Canada’s remaining diplomatic personnel would be a prime target were crowds to turn hostile.”Janice Stein of the Munk School of Global Affairs says Canada’s decision to break diplomatic relations with Iran was not in response to specific intelligence about an imminent military strike against Iran.Janice Stein of the Munk School of Global Affairs says Canada’s decision to break diplomatic relations with Iran was not in response to specific intelligence about an imminent military strike against Iran. (CBC)Canada in the headlinesCanada’s move is making international headlines and its significance shouldn’t be underestimated.Even after its embassy in Tehran was ransacked — an attack Ambassador Dominick Chilcott described as “a state-supported activity — Britain did not suspend diplomatic relations, although it did expel Iran’s diplomats. At the time, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg told the BBC the U.K.’s response “doesn’t mean we’re cutting off all diplomatic relations with Iran; it doesn’t mean we are in any way lessening our determination to try to find a diplomatic solution to the nuclear question.”So why did Canada suspend relations now?Devine points to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran last week. Iranian officials boasted about a successful summit, which involved most countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America. He says the summit “was not an overwhelming success for Iran but demonstrated they are not as isolated as the West would hope.”The West is trying to isolate Iran over the dispute about Iran’s nuclear program. In that context, Devine says, Canada may be trying to send “a symbolic message to Iran after the NAM meeting that they should not conclude that their isolation is over or that they can escape western pressure.”He believes the suspension’s timing could be related to Canada’s Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act, which allows victims of terrorism to sue a country that Canada lists as a state sponsor of terrorism. On Friday, Baird said he was adding Iran to that list, along with Syria. The act, passed in March, gave the federal cabinet until mid-September to list states sponsoring terrorism. Why make the announcement in Russia?”The timing and the way they did it is rather awkward because they chose to announce it on the doorstep of Russia, which is the country that is the strongest proponent of the negotiated settlement to the nuclear issue,” Mundy said, calling Canada’s announcement “an implicit criticism of Russian policy toward Iran.”However, the timing may also be connected with when the last Canadian diplomats left Iran, which was ahead of the announcement. That Baird made the announcement in Russia also raises the question of whether there was some urgency for Canada’s actions.Ray Boisvert, the assistant director of Canadian Security Intelligence Service until April 2012, told Solomon that Canada’s move was unprecedented, since that is something that only “usually happens in very severe conditions.” He also noted that Canada does not normally take the lead in this kind of foreign policy action.Boisvert also pointed to what he said was the Iranian Embassy “running some kind of threatening operation” aimed at the Iranian community in Canada. According to Boisvert, Iran “absolutely” poses a security threat in Canada.Kaveh Shahrooz, vice president of the Iranian-Canada Congress, told Wilson that “members of the community are worried if they partake or speak out, that will be reported to [the Iranian Embassy in] Ottawa and there’ll be repercussions for that person if they go back home, or for their family.””We’ve been concerned for some time about the actions taken by the mission in Ottawa,” Baird told Solomon.Possible military strikeMundy, Salimi and others point to a possible military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities as a motive behind Canada’s announcement.”For us, it’s an immediate sign of attack on Iran,” Salimi told Embassy magazine. However, Baird said on The House that the government has “received no notice of any decision taken by the United States or Israel in this regard, so I can categorically say that the timing of the decision had nothing to with an imminent strike. “James Devine, an Iran expert at Mount Allison University , says Canada’s announcment is likely to have little impact in Iran. James Devine, an Iran expert at Mount Allison University , says Canada’s announcment is likely to have little impact in Iran. (Information Morning Moncton/CBC)For his part, Devine said an imminent strike is not on tap.”The signs don’t suggest there’s an imminent attack coming from the Israelis or the Americans right now. And the Americans, especially, are not going to want to get into anything until the elections are over.”Stein also told CBC News she does “not believe Canada’s action was in response to any intelligence information about an imminent strike.”The U.S. has been building up its forces in the region and putting pressure on Iran, Devine points out,”They want to make sure the Iranians feel there is a possibility of attack, because if the Iranians were ever to decide there is no chance the Americans are going to attack, their [American] leverage would be significantly reduced. Building up forces is consistent not just with an attack but consistent with the idea they are trying to use pressure.”Stein agrees: “The U.S. is at pains to say there is no specific intelligence yet that suggests the Iranians have made the decision to weaponize their nuclear program and, given that, I would be very, very surprised if President [Barack] Obama would resort to force before the election.”Iranian Canadians will feel it mostThe Canadian government’s move is likely to have little impact in Iran.”The Iranians are not looking at Canada as that important an actor in all of this,” Devine said, adding Canada’s economic relations with the Islamist nation have gradually weakened.Stein holds a similar view, noting that “the Iranian government certainly knows where we stand, we’ve made our position forcefully.”Ken Taylor, who was Canada’s ambassador in Iran during the U.S. hostage crisis that began in 1979, told CBC’s Hannah Thibedeau he doesn’t agree with Canada’s decision to suspend diplomatic relations.”Given Canada’s status as an international player, there’s great value to having someone there on the ground who can interpret what is going on, to the extent that there are challenges to doing that properly,” he said.Mundy said that now, “We no longer have the ability to communicate directly, government to government, with the Iranian government.”Stein says, “The major impact will be on the Iranian diaspora in Canada, which will have a lot more difficulty getting visas to go home for visits.”Canadians imprisoned in IranAnother significant impact to Mundy is that “we no longer have Canadian diplomats on the ground to protect the interests of Canadian citizens” in Iran. “There are a lot of Canadian citizens in Iran, some of whom are in jail, and some of whom depend upon the Canadian diplomats to make representations on their behalf.”Hamid Ghassemi-Shall, a Canadian citizen jailed in Iran since 2008, is one of three Canadians being held in Iran’s notorious Evin prison, the same prison where Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi was killed in 2003, which led to a serious worsening of relations between the two countries.Iran sentenced Ghassemi-Shall to death in 2009.His wife, Antonella Mega, told Thibedeau on Power and Politics that she feels the Canadian announcement is “a great disappointment for me and Hamid.” The diplomats who have now left Iran “have expressed great concern for Hamid’s case” and “have been continuously advocating for him.”Feeling that “a door is now closed,” Mega said she wants to hear from the Canadian government, “What is the plan that Canada has to help Hamid?”
    4. http://globalconnections.hsbc.com/united-kingdom/en/news-insight/how-to-sell-in-islamic-markets26 April 2012How to sell in Islamic marketsBy Paul Gallant From Business without Borders    References:    UK    Consumer Goods    ManufacturingFinding strategies to market goods and services to the world’s highly diverse Muslim consumersAlthough an estimated 23% of the world’s population is Muslim, creating brands and marketing strategies that resonate among Muslims is tricky business. Living in more than 200 countries with a wide range of cultural traditions, ethnic backgrounds and standards of living, Muslims hardly constitute a homogenous single market.Yet, as Paul Temporal points out in his book Islamic Branding and Marketing: Creating a Global Islamic Business, there are shared Islamic values that non-Muslim companies can tap into to reach Muslim consumers, and that Muslim companies can better leverage to go global. While few Muslim companies have built brands extending beyond their nation’s borders (and those few mostly in the oil and gas industry), Temporal offers international companies straightforward advice on integrating themselves into Muslim markets. The demand for halal products and services (the word halal means “lawful”) is one commonality of Muslim life from Muslim-majority countries like Saudi Arabia and Indonesia to Muslim-minority countries like France, Germany and the U.S. “The term is most frequently linked to food that is permissible according to Islamic law, but in fact it applies to all categories of products and services used in Muslim life,” writes Temporal, who is an associate fellow at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in the U.K. “Conforming strictly to Islamic law means that everything a Muslim does must be halal. In reality, however… there are different degrees of religiosity practised, from orthodox to liberal.” Halal products not only meet the requirements of Shariah law, which is drawn from a variety of sources including the Qur’an, they are also a mark of purity and quality. Interestingly, one study suggests that 16% of U.S. Muslims buy kosher food when they are not able to gain access to halal products.Sectors where halal is especially important include food and beverage; education; tourism and hospitality; medical and pharmaceutical products and services; entertainment; financial products and services; cosmetics and personal care; and Internet and digital products and services. The Noor Global Brand Index, a 2010 study of consumer perceptions of halal status, ranks Europe-based brands like Lipton and Nestlé at the top, showing that country of origin matters less than a well-executed commitment to halal principles.Globalization and rising incomes in many emerging economies have, perhaps unexpectedly, made halal increasingly important to Muslim identity. In a case study of OnePure, a cosmetics company founded in 2007 by Canadian-born Muslim Layla Mandi, the marketing strategy targets affluent Muslim women who appreciate global brands like Clinique, Lancôme and Chanel, but see an added value in halal-certified products. Designed and formulated in Canada, OnePure uses financial products and services from Emirates Islamic Bank (which follow Shariah principles, including not charging interest), sources halal raw materials, ensures products don’t come in contact with non-halal products or processes, such as machinery cleaned with substances containing alcohol, uses halal-compliant transportation and storage throughout its supply chain and ensures that its female sales personnel wear abayas, loose dresses meant to protect their modesty.“This enterprise shows that, with determination, Islamic brands can penetrate every market and attract non-Muslim consumers as well—for example, people who are interested in organic, eco-friendly, ethical and authentic beauty products,” writes Temporal.Attaining halal accreditation is not straightforward, since different regions, countries and communities have different standards. Brunei Darussalam, a Muslim country with a population of about 381,000, is trying to overcome these hurdles to become a major player in the global halal industry. In 2009, the government launched the Brunei Halal Brand which, although not necessarily universally accepted, sets a high benchmark for its certification processes. “Having obtained certification in Brunei, products can generally be expected to pass audits undertaken by other countries,” writes Temporal.Reaching Muslim women remains a challenge. Tougher still is reaching Muslims in emerging markets in regions such as North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, the Mideast and Asia-Pacific, though increased penetration of mobile communication technology is making that easier.“The use of digital channels by brands also allows marketers to carefully target Muslim consumers without over-using their ‘religious’ identity to attract their attention,” writes Temporal. At the top end of the market, increasing incomes in countries such as Malaysia, India and Indonesia mean an appetite for luxury products. Closer to home, the number of Muslims in Canada are expected to nearly triple in the next 20 years, from about 940,000 in 2010 to nearly 2.7 million in 2030. Unlike Muslim minorities in much of Western Europe, who tend to be much poorer than average, North American Muslims are more likely to have incomes comparable to their non-Muslim peers.“However one slices and dices the numbers, there is no escaping the fact that the Muslim population is not only huge, it is growing,” writes Temporal.

The movie was edited to incite the predictable rage the innocent muslims:“I’m kind of an unsophisticated James Bond operative. I want to piss this guy off, I want to find out why does he want to kill me?” Klein explained to the A.P. “Why does he want to capture my daughter and granddaughter and rape them? Why does this guy want to act this way?” The YouTube video is blamed for inciting riots in Egypt and Libya where the U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens was killed along with three other American embassy personnel. Angry demonstrations have spread throughout the Muslim world Friday. “Do I have blood on my hands? No. Did I kill this guy? No,” said Klein. “Do I feel guilty that these people were incited? Guess what? I didn’t incite them. They’re pre-incited, they’re pre-programmed to do this.”http://movieline.com/2012/09/14/innocence-of-muslims-spokesman-steve-klein-james-bond-libya-egypt/After Syria, Canada, a coptic; what next for Iran? 2. Well, if life is a game and we are allowed proper resources and opportunities then the Olympics is a fair test of our skill and effectiveness, individually and as nation that we claim to be. Oddly, Cuba, which by Western standards is not free, is able to give many opportunities for people to develop their talents (in sports, music, science) and their people who are free to travel chose to stay, ever grateful for the opportunities they cannot get elsewhere. Proportionately the West does not produce the same results.

Freedom is relative concept. Keniche Ohmae in the Mind of a Strategist talks only of degrees of freedom, not absolute freedom. When we do not appreciate this, we are talking at different levels, the levels of the gutter versus the levels of heavenly dialogue and can if the gutter is the basis for our actions cause all of humanity’s problems, for God to resolve.

If we are being forced to play according to rules of their game, then we should, as long as legitimate, while seeking to change the rules with the resources at our command which resource holdings ultimately determine our fate. How badly skewed to the West are the resources of the world?

Is it a wise thing to replace the Sedition Act 1948 with the National Harmony Act in the light of uncivil acts and words which poured out daily from detractors with vested interests who respect no one ? As one wise-crack commented that the dinosaur of BN can be led by the nose !

Some commentators have suggested the retention of certain provisions in the Sedition Act 1948. Vide. New Straits Times. 4 September 2012.

I am of the opinion that at a time when other countries strengthened their laws, we in Malaysia seem to change laws to please somebody. Some of these foreign laws are even more punitive than Malaysia’s. Vide. Guantanamo Bay.

In the end we please nobody not even ourselves to our own detriment and the general populace.

The laws like the ISA and the Sedition Act 1948 since 1948 were in place for a specific reason and for a specific group of wrong-doers. How many wrong-doers are there in this land ? At times, the Kamunting facility could house them all !

These laws have served the beloved country well all these years since 1948. There is no reason to change any laws prior to a General Election unless these are of a socio-economic nature for the benefit of all.

The ISA and the Sedition Act 1948 are designed for a small group of people only and in our beloved country’s best interests. At best, laws should be amended after a General Election to fulfil election promises otherwise the wise-cracks would trumpet to the electorate that it was their ‘strong pressure’ which forced the Government of the day to change laws at their whim and fancy ! How easy !

Who can guarantee that the beloved country will not face with insurgency or unrest against the established law and order again due to instigation and disinformation in this world of the Web ? We have already seen the tip of the iceberg recently !

Are there any laws like the ISA and the Sedition Act 1948 to protect and safeguard the sanctity, respectability and dignity of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, the Royal Sultans, the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, all the icons and heroes of this beloved land not forgetting the ordinary men and women in the street as before and hopefully as always ?

Sedition ! These seditious acts are all over the cyberspace and media committed by irresponsible elements who are certain they will not be prosecuted. In colour photos too ! They think they are smart and clever. Good luck to them !

On the ISA and the Sedition Act 1949, this is where at least Lee Kuan Yew can show us the way ! This much I agree.

For all Malaysians especially the Malaysian Chinese, vote BN always !

All Malaysians had peace and prosperity under the BN and UMNO leadership for more than 55 years !

  5. Tun

    For truthseeker,

I agree with most of your comments especially on the DAP which was inspired by Lee Kuan Yew, the PAP and Singapore. Strange, one is so poor and the other so very rich !

My previous comments on Lee Kuan Yew and his policies have shown with facts that many major mistakes were made throughout his rule with a heavy hand. Singapore lost a good many of her solid citizens through emigration. Now, at the end of the day, Singapore is shown to be just a hollow modern structure stuffed with money in the image of Lee Kuan Yew, all legally correct but not a single shred of humanity or compassion.

Of course, credit must be given for providing housing to the populace and turning Singapore from an entreport into a world class financial centre. This is to be expected from anyone with normal behaviour. But at a huge human cost ! To reach for the sky always with a small population, how is it going to be sustainable ?

As for the DAP, how can a Chinese-based political party always prefer to remain in Opposition in a free country of many communities ? Has anyone ask this vital question ? Why ?

And why they prefer to play third fiddle to strange bedfellows with different dreams at a time when the Nation needs all the support she can get through the BN ? And across the Causeway, everything is money, money and money ! Tons and tons of it ! Strange ! A meritocratic society based on academic qualifications and money, money !

As for MCA, the only qualified leader was at the beginning of the saga and he became too big for his shoes. And the rest, if they were qualified, the Malaysian Chinese would not be up a greasy pole still talking on issues of 55 years ago, today 2012 !

This leaves the Bumiputras who have the legitimacy to rule by historic practice and convention. And yet, there are the adventurers with bags of money willing to bring down an established orderly political and socio-economic Malay structure which has served its purpose well for all the inhabitants of our beloved country Malaysia for centuries through the Royal Sultans of yore and present and the successive BN Governments as led by UMNO.

If you kindly reflect on the famous 22 year Administration of Tun’s stewardship of the country, this applies to the Malays, world-wide as well !

There is nothing wrong with the Bumiputras as led by UMNO and their successful leaders. Even the great nation of Indonesia recognises the partnership and friendship with Malaysia as part of the Malay World of modern enterprise and endeavour and together – the showcase of the Malay World community of today and its potential tomorrow ! This recognition can only be of benefit to all in both these countries !

The enemies of the Malays keep on harping disinformation to derail centuries of hard work and accommodation between the different communities. This must never be allowed to happen !

Between the one-man rule of Singapore and the Malaysian Way of Government by the BN as led by the UMNO, give me the latter without the hypocrisy and the bluffology !

    Vote BN always !

  6. I refer to thruthseeker

  8. Salam Tun and fellow bloggers,

    Somehow or rather, this posting about freedom attracts my attention again and again. But this time I would like to share some thoughts based on studies and reports…especially about LKY, his government, the Singapore malays, DAP and Malaysian malays;

    1. Based on ‘Assimilation as Multiracialism: The Case
of Singapore’s Malays’, by MICHAEL D. BARR & JEVON LOW
(The University of Queensland)in Asian Ethnicity, Volume 6, Number 3, October 2005

The Straits Times Interactive, 25 July 2003, reports:
[Lee Kuan Yew] also noted that Malay women who put on the Muslim tudung, the headscarf, were finding it especially hard to find jobs. He (Lee) said: ‘They complain that when the employer asks them: ‘‘Do you wear a tudung?’’, when they say ‘‘yes’’, the employer says: ‘‘I’m looking for a Chinese’’.’

While conceding the issue was indeed ‘a problem’, he (Lee) also said it was a reality of living in a multiracial society. [Authors’ emphasis] . . .

In the face of discrimination in employment against minority Malays by majority Chinese, Lee says that this is ‘a reality of living in a multicultural society’ and the Malays will have to live with it. He has no intention of engaging in one of his famous
social engineering efforts to ameliorate these discriminatory practices. Coming from the mouth of Lee Kuan Yew, this was tantamount to a government endorsement of discrimination against tudung-wearing women in matters of employment.

From the perspective of the Chinese employers, this is a simple case of conformity to a (Chinese) standard, but for the victim it is much more complex. It translates into a demoralising cycle which was described poignantly by one of the victims of this form of discrimination in The Straits Times, 29 September 2002:

Miss Siti Shafrida Sulaiman, 21, an electronics engineering graduate from Nanyang Polytechnic, said she was asked to remove her headscarf by more than 10 potential employers
who interviewed her. They said that they wanted work attire to be standardised. ‘It’s demoralising because the tudung has nothing to do with work performance or my ability’.

P.S. Singapore boasted to be a leader in almost everything (check-out all its ratings on global/world competitiveness) but it cannot intervene to help the malays? Do not know how or refused to?

P.S DAP will say the same thing too (later on) ‘a reality of living here in Penang, Perak, Selangor…’ No microphone when azan remember?

    2. Based on Suriani Suratman (Dept of Malay Studies, NUS) Problematic Singapore Malays – The Making of a Portrayal.

2.1 ‘In his address to more than 1000 malay leaders in July 1964, PM Lee Kwan Yew pledged ‘sincere efforts to adjust and remove the imbalance in development…because of the special position of the malays which is recognized in the Singapore constitution..’

Lee spelled out that the 3 areas ‘where the community (Malays) is lagging behind are; education, employment and housing’

P.S. LKY wore songkok, went to meet the malays, made such pledges (above) because at that time Singapore was in Malaysia. What happens after that? Why Geylang, a place related to Singapore malays roots is now known for prostitution? A legalized one too – so that many years down the road, a chinese may ask a malay, ‘ You said that your old folks were in Geylang, but Geylang is a red area, so you are a descendant of prostitute?’

P.S. I saw a picture of guan eng using his bare hand to eat (like the malays); promising everything to the malays…but wait till he gets the votes to rule us.

2.2 First Deputy PM, Goh Chok Tong (The Straits Times, 19 October, 1988- How Malays Can Realize Their Hopes) questioned malays support for PAP; ‘…does the malay community want to merge with the mainstream of national life and influence the direction of this mainstream by being part of it? Or does it prefer to be a branch on its own, setting its own direction independently of the rest of society?’

P.S. Kata dua from Goh Chok Tong, macam, ‘take it or leave it…’ Another tokong will say the same thing later on to the malays.

    3. Based on Mohamed Imran (The Reading Group Singapore) – The pathology of race and racism in post colonial society; Reflections on Frantz Fanon’s Black Skins, White Masks.

3.1 ‘the tendency to deny and denigrate anything associated with ‘malayness’is most common among the middle-class intelligentsia and malay leaderships..’

3.2 ‘often the malay becomes a repository of everything negative…’ The writer quoted a teacher who said about her student, ‘she’s malay, but she’s beautiful..’

P.S. Singapore government efforts in ‘psychologically etnic-cleansing’ is working; the middle-class malays looked down on the ‘lazy malays’ of Singapore; the malays are being blamed for any short-comings..just like the ‘niggers’ in US who believed the whites are superior and they are forever slaves, inferior.

P.S. Mark my words, DAP is capable of doing such thing to the malays in their controlled states (even though MBs are from PAS or PKR)

P.S. vote BN – the moderate, gentle party.

  9. Tun

My sincere and heartiest congratulations and the very best wishes to you for being honoured with the doctorate in humanities and cultural studies by the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS-Solo) Indonesia in recognition of your famous 22 year Administration and the Malays in general.

To all Malaysians especially the Malaysian Chinese, vote BN always.

FREEDOM is Freemason lah of course..//

1-Yes sir AyamHere..totally with you. They are having all the freedom in the world to make everybody else not free.

2-They are the 1% of the 1% people who exploited fully the USA as their cash cow since the birth of that creature from jekyll island in 1913.

3-Its not a conspiracy.Even the Americans are beginning to believe it now as they lose more and more of their freedom..and are going ‘ End the Fed’.

4-Yes I think we should mind our business because very soon I fear we may be losing more than just some superficial freedom. Our own sovereignity may be at stake.

5-The winds of change is really blowing strong Tun..Maybe from Mines Resort City its not so strong, but down here it feels like going a 100 km/h.

6-For Najib to steer the ship successfully through such a storm someone must remind him to ensure not to allow any small leaks to sink the big ship.

    Thanks Tun

  13. Salam Tun,

    1. Most of the commentators in your blog are theorists. And most of the theories are religious theories, which worked once upon a time, but not this time, as the world and people are significantly different from our past.

    2. People support BN because of money. In terms of caring for the society and in terms of building a harmonious society, BN failed miserably.

    3. It is always, when statements such as 2 is made, it is met with strong denial coupled with ‘where is the proof’ ? chants, and with boastful announcements of ‘we did well, see how happy people are’.

    4. This time i think the general public has heard the BN mantra for over 50 years, and is rather immune to it, even sick of it. I cannot think of a more egoistic government than what i am seeing now. With exception of a few leaders, BN is barren of quality leadership, from the top all the way to the bottom.

    5. That the country still runs fine despite the appalling and pathetic attitude of these leaders, is testimony to the strength of Malaysians in surviving s*it in life. Immigrants are generally very good at tolerating nonsense, and this knowledge is passed down to the younger truly Malaysians.

    6. And so if the government continues to give us non-sense, we know what to do. When many more realized they have been duped for so long, when they wake up, we will see a new government,

    7. Personally many have woken up i think, because we have been working like a dog for so long, and still we suffer in our everyday lives, and so people are beginning to ask why. The governments and religious peoples answer that God wanted it that way can no longer hold water.

    8. Because God promised that the meek shall inherit the Earth.

    Thank You Tun

    For milshah

The United States, Britain, the Netherlands, France etc did not willing give up their colonial territories after the 2nd World War. The reason for this goes back at least a 100 years from that date.

In the 19th century, Africa was up for grabs to the British, Frence and Germany. By the second half of this century, the British realised they over-expanded in their lust for new territories and were actually losing money there. By the beginning of the 2nd World War, the Belgians, the Portuguese, the Spanish and the Italians had their exploited territories too e.g. the Congo, Libya, etc.

It was the Americans beginning with President Roosevelt which force the British to give up their Empire through the fact that they owed the Americans a lot of money from the Lend-Lease Program of 1940 and the weakened British condition since the end of the Great War 1914-1918. The British only completed their debt for the Lend-Lease to the United States and Canada in 2006 – 60 years afte the end of World War 2. Vide. Financial Times. 2006. As it could be discerned now that with the disappearance of the British Empire and the Empire Tariff (only British made goods could be imported free of tax into a British held territory with the exception of certain special deals like the United Plantations of Denmark, the Socfin Plantations of Societe Generale of Belgium and France, the Japanese Plantations in Kota Tinggi and the Penggarang Peninsula, the Japanese iron mines of Trengganu. the French Tekka Mines, Kampar, the American Goodyear Estates in Kedah and Johor, the American Tin Mine, 3 1/2 mile, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur etc.)

The Indians sought their Independence as early as the Indian Mutiny in the mid-19th century and the Lucknow Massacre, 1931 and the hartal movements led by Mahatma Gandhi throughout the lst half of the 20th century. Because of a shortage of man-power, the British had a deal with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress Party to give India independence if the Indians fought with the British in the 2nd World War. The heroism of the Indians and the Gurkhas in the Middle East and the Mediterranean was seldom mentioned. The British did reneged once after the lst World War.

With the end of the 2nd World War, the hartals resumed, the Indian servicemen no longer obeyed their British superiors and the British Tommy was dog tired and wanted to return to good old Blighty. Hence, the indecent haste of the British to negotiate a quick Independence for India and blundered in the Partition of India and Pakistan – a million people died from this act, and left a Hindu Ruler governing the Muslim State of Kashmir in their desire to depart. Vide. Freedom at Midnight.

The Dutch did not willing leave the Netherlands East Indies. The Indonesians under the leadership of Soekarno truly fought for their Independence. The British were there before the Dutch (who were weak) at the end of the 2nd World War. I know a firm in Singapore which supplied arms to the Indonesians and became mightily rich.

The French were even more determined than the Dutch to stay in Indo-China. They were thrown out in the last great battle of Dien Bien Phu when the French made a fundamental strategic error and was clobbered by Ho Chi Minh and his cohorts. The Americans came in to sort out the pieces and they too had to retire by April 1975.

And as for the Philippines, politically, the Americans just put their foot where their mouth is and the country came under neo-colonialism with the control of the economy by pro-US oligarchs and the banana and pineapple companies like Dell.

Finally, Malaysia was fortunate that the clever forward planning by the British as regards her neo-colonial economic control of Malaya after Merdeka was somewhat changed into a truly independent form by the return of the Malay students in the United Kingdom who worked with other parties in UMNO. I had the pleasure of assisting in my enigmatic way.

By chance, I became involved in the commerce of Malaya in 1960 e.g. the rubber plantations, tin mines etc. I observed that the business and economy moved slowly. The control of palm oil seeds was in the hands of 5 agency houses e.g. Harrisons & Crossfields, Guthries, East Asiatic, Boustead and Socfin. (Sime Darby was a ‘mickey mouse’ then). From the mid-1960s, the sale of the palm oil seeds to outsiders gathered in momentum.

This is not what I want to tell. It is the control of the selling price of all the commodities by these agency houses and the councils dealing with them, were all packed full of expatriates who were just employees of the companies in their homeland.

And 70% of the best of Malaya was in their hands.

And to top this off, the economy was run by a Currency Board of Malaya, Singapore, North Borneo, Sarawak and Brunei.

A Currency Board is entirely different from a Central Bank. The Board issued only the money of what a country earned – whereas a Central Bank is the banker to the Government.

With this Currency Board, the British controlled the economy of Malaya through neo-colonialism. Like this, only the British controlled 70% of the best there was in Malaya, the few Chinese towkays 15% of the 3rd grade assets and the remaining 15% shared out amongst the rest with the Malays having probably 2%.

Like this only the British and the towkays got rich.

Again by chance, the concept of the acquisition of Sime Darby (the first big business to be controlled by the Malays and eventually became the flagship of the PNB) through a fair market operation arose after the the promulgation of the NEP in 1971, with the full support of Tun Abdul Razak and Tengku Razaleigh and others in UMNO.

Chronologically, the true beginning of Bumiputra corporate business began in 1981 with the beginning of Tun’s famous 22 year Administration because from 1957 to 1976, the delay was caused by neo-colonialism coupled with the untimely death of Tun Abdul Razak in 1975 with a transitional period up to 1981.

There was definitely a delay in bringing the fruits of Independence to the Bumiputras for 24 long years.

And yet some ignorant wisecracks compared Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad with Nkrumah of Ghana. It is like comparing chalk and cheese !

You kindly be the judge !

  16. Salam Tun,
Saya ingin jelaskan konsep assabiah orang2 Kelantan.

Within the space of 24 hours, we have in our media the disgusting and revolting colour photo of a youngster defecating on the colour photo of our distinguished Prime Minister and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah in an Opposition Blog with the headline,’ Najib, wife become butt of joke ‘. With an accompaniment of an vulgar finger sign. This photo was obviously posed for the Blog. Freedom !

This sort of behaviour is what we should expect of some members of the Opposition.

And in The Star, Saturday 1st September 2012, Seah Chiang Nee candidly admitted that the awesome Lee Kuan Yew was/is actually a real Dictator who brooked no dissent or criticism or admit to any mistake.

Here are the mistakes of Singapore since 1966 arising from the awesome Lee Kuan Yew’s one-man rule ( The Star. Saturday 1st September 2012. Seah Chiang Nee.)

    1. The use of money as an instrument of foreign policy in causing the deaths or maiming or injuries to innocent men, women and children in friendly countries. Vide. ASEAN Regional News.

    2. The implementation of a 2 child family policy from 1966 with the possible contravention of Clause 16 of the United Nations Universal Charter for Human Rights. To fill the void, billionaires and millionaires are now imported to fill the hallowed annual statistics because they become either citizens or permanent residents. As a result, not only Singapore has the greatest annual increase of multi-millionaires in the whole world but also the No. 1 richest country on the planet. This is what I call ‘bluffology’ for the sycophants and her own citizens ( Dulling their senses make them complacent and arrogant until they read the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson ! ) The hundreds of thousands of foreign manual workers are excluded. Vide. The Star. Seah Chiang Nee. 25 August 2012. Page 30.

    3. The loss of US$ 108 Billions of Singapore’s citizens’ Trust money in October 2008 on Wall Street by investing in inferior institutions lesser than Singapore Inc. Vide. Channelnewsasia. Lee Kuan Yew. November 2008. All Singaporean Blogs. January 2009 – 2012. Financial Times London Gillian Tett. April 2010.’ Singapore’s Harvard Model ‘. The Star. 25 August 2012. Seah Chiang Nee Page 30.

    4. A perfunctory Judiciary System. Vide. Admiral Canaris who was stripped naked and demeaned by Hitler’s Judiciary and hung naked with piano wires.

    5. The absence of multiculturalism in Singapore. Vide. Channelnewsasia. 2012. ‘ The Curry Smell Tribunal ‘

    6. The remuneration of officials. Vide. Channelnewsasia 2011-2012. All Singaporean Blogs. 2011-2012.

    7. The employment of foreign sportsmen/women, jet fighter pilots, tank drivers, brigades of Gurkhas, submariners etc. Channelnewsasia 2012. All Singaporean Blogs 2011-2012.

    8. The lifestyle and wealth of the ruling elite. Vide. i) The Sale of Kim Eng Securities to Maybank. ii) The importation of 5,000 pigs daily. iii) Service contracts from flower nurseries, etc.

If we compare the performance of Malaysia since 1957 with that of Singapore’s since 1965, we can only credit the awesome Lee Kuan Yew with the success of providing low cost housing to the populace and high cost buildings to the capitalists in his own image. Without any compassion, the smart two-legged animal just quietly left Singapore years ago ! Freedom !

Singapore at this time and age has been hollowed out by the awesome Lee Kuan Yew’s policies.

And as for the DAP, a Malaysian political party ( under the leadership of Lim Kit Siang ) which has been inspired by Lee Kuan Yew, PAP and Singapore, it is still not too late to consider all your options in realpolitik terms. It is very obvious that our beloved Malaysia is entirely different from the Singapore of today which has been built in the image of just one person, the awesome Lee Kuan Yew. Freedom !

Our icons and heroes are the Yang Di Pertuan Agong, the Royal Sultans (who should be shown no disrespect), the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, the members of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara. The heads of public institutions, universities and schools and their teachers. The sportsmen/women, the academics, the military, the police etc.

And the most important of all our parents, fathers and mothers.

And as for PAS, facts are facts. A party which is honest and disciplined, can serve our beloved Malaysia sic Kelantan well, together with the BN.
By improving Kelantan with the BN, the former inhabitants of the Patani Empire across the Sungei Golok would benefit also. It is already 2012.

Better late than never DAP and PAS !

    Freedom !

  19. Salam Tun, one more time…

Maybe not many people notice that most Americans are somewhat like the malays…being apologetic, warm, welfare-minded, sociable and anything for being supportive and nice.

    Therefore, to get their (these Americans and Malays) attention, support, one must not say nasty words, but instead, tell them that all actions are for;

    a) freedom for everybody (therefore no tyranny, dictatorship)
    b) democracy for everybody – voices being heard
    c) equality – everybody are equlas, no bumis or non-bumis
    d) human rights – everybody has rights
    e) justice – everybody being treated justly…hmm

    So you see how the zionists, American leaders working with zionists and Malaysian PR selling these goodies stuffs to the people but , in reality, it’s for getting power and wealth They do not even cared whether we live happily, harmoniously, peacefully, etc, they just want to be our great leaders who can use their limitless powers. Mind you, they have their own psychological advisers too…tell me, why they used such terms;

    a. desert shield (during first Iraq war?)
    b. smart bombs (bombs that did not killed at random)
    c. alcoholic (not alcohol-addict), cousin to workaholic, hehe
    d. Mahathir a dictator
    e. keadilan rakyat
    f. kerajaan rasuah (surely orang baik tidak suka rasuah kan?)
    g. konspirasi (kerajaan berpakat untuk jatuhkan anwar, my
    foot)
    h. bersih (really?)

So, you see, words, terms are important because you can convince those who are believers but a little bit dumb, dumber, and dumbest…because they have brains but they follow their emotions a bit too much.

  20. Salam Tun and fellow bloggers,

The words Freedom, Equality, Human Rights, Justice, Democracy, etc are being used extensively by the opportunists, the devils, trouble-makers, extremists. Why?

    a. by using these words, the devils (meaning people working like devils) want to legalize drugs, weapons, sanctions, LGBT, aggression, etc

    b. by using these words, devils managed to instigate, to provoke others to follow them – look at those so-called bersih movement…looks more like anti-social people who do stuffs that are against social order (have you seen those people during bersih riot, the merdeka nite? jumping on PM’s picture, trying to defecate on the picture…my god, and those people were so ‘gila babi’ like mad, immoral bunch. That’s freedom to them.

    c. by using such words, the crazy opposition parties followers violated the laws of this country…look at how they will go on riot, refusing to pay back loans, lying, cheating the people…in the name of freedom, my god.

    d. by using such words, US, Israel (through US)attacked other countries, killing scientists, diplomats, killing innocent citizens of other countries (Iraq, libya, Syria), killing through sanctions – people died due to food shortages, no medicines..

BN, abiding to Islamic teachings, use the words appropriately but the same words have different meanings and actions by the devils, enemies, including the oppositions! Just look around you, look at their actions – I am not surprised if one day PAS will lead attacks (i mean killings) on other muslims, just like the sunnis killing syiah and vice versa (in other countries)…in the name of freedom. Look at the talibans – gila babi.

Those words are being defined differently by different people – you decide people which definitions are the right ones.

  21. Dear CHEDET,
    Salaams

    From G Santayana:
    From Philosophy of George Santayana

I think that the old controversy about freedom and necessity was always morally futile, because whether, in physical genesis, there be continuity or fresh beginnings, law or chance, the spirit is equally the sport of fact. The freedom and dominion morally possible are of another kind, touching not the genesis of facts but the wisdom of the affections. Affections may liberate the heart or they may enslave it. This is not a question of good or ill fortune supervening, but of being or not being deceived in the original choice of our interests.

In his book “Life of Reason” American philosopher George Santayana (1863-1952) remarked: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” In today’s Britain there are many who have forgotten the past: unfortunately for the rest of us, they include the people who compose our governments. In our people’s present financial disaster there is a lesson to be learned from history, and that lesson is that every measure our government is using in their attempt to ensure Britain’s financial survival has been used before by another government – and failed more than catastrophically…

  22. Dear Tun,

May you always be in good health.

The super superpower have built what many call as ‘reputation effect’. By tearing down Afganistan and Iraq, they have created fear among many countries. We can hardly see any country standing up against them. Not even the other superpowers. The United Nations are in fact afraid of them. That is freedom. Freedom is the power to do anything you want.

  23. Assalamualaikum Tun,

I have always wondered why the colonised states (i.e Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, India, etc) were suddenly granted independence after World War 2. I mean the West had won the Great War and decimated their arch enemies at that time the super powers Japan and Germany. The US was the only country at that time that had an atomic bomb and capable of destroying any country that might want to oppose them as they did with Japan when they bombed the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Why did they suddenly agree to grant independence to the countries they colonised when they were the victors of World War 2 and become the sole superpower? Why did they suddenly pack up and leave these colonised states?

I was watching an old movie “The Matrix” and the story introduced an interesting concept of an “Invincible Prison” We can easily break a prison made of iron and bricks because we can see, touch and feel the prison cell we are in. We know if we break the iron and bricks then we are free.

But what about an invincible prison? You can’t see, touch or feel it, so how do break it? Answer, you can’t. Even worst, some of us don’t even know we are already in the prison because we cannot see, touch or feel the prison.

This is what I think why the Western gave the colonised states their independence. They know if the people of these colonised states knew that their country is being run by the West, then the people would revolt. Therefore they devised a strategy as it seems independence is given to these colonised states but in reality these states are subjected to West’s system of government, economy, culture. These states must follow what the West directs them to do or face the consequences. Enter the West hegemony.

When the colonised countries gained independence after World War 2 it was simply of transferring from a prison made of iron and bricks to an invisible prison.

We shave seen so many examples of what happens to countries that try to break from this invisible prison by opposing them such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Cuba, and I think their latest target, China.

It seems after world war 2 until now, we have been living in this invisible prison. We can do whatever we want so long as we don’t oppose them, accept their cultures, values and ideologies and toe the line. Otherwise, face the consequences.

So how and when do we break free? I think now is the best time for Asian countries to break free from this invisible prison (i.e the West hegemony) because the US and the Europeans is in shambles and on the brink of bankruptcy. They are at their lowest economically. Second, they used too much of their military resources in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

On the hand, Asian countries economies are growing by leap and bounds (lead by China). We, the Asian countries, are at our greatest strength economically. Even our military strength is at its highest peak since they have never been used to attack other countries.

Their current campaign is try to take back control Asia, as it seems these former colonised countries are gaining strength economically and militarily and these countries are getting smarter by questioning and even downright opposing the West’s orders.

Their chief target would be China, as China is the strongest among these Asian states, and I think the one of the most vocal opponent the West. When the US threatened to cut the US financial system to any country that trades with Iran, China simply ignored and continued to trade with Iran. You can see Tun, how angry the US is towards China.

As for other Asian countries that are still in this invisible prison, the proverb the enemy of my enemy is my friend applies. Since China is an enemy to the West hegemony, therefore China by default must be a friend to all Asian countries.

The West is currently devising the “South China Sea” or Spratly Island strategy to contain and possibly attack China. Through the international media, they are portraying China as the big bully towards Asian countries. This is to brainwash the Asian countries into believing China is the enemy.

Their strategy is with greed for oil and fish, the Asian countries would fight each other while they watch from afar. They want the Asian countries to fight China on their behalf since they themselves are too weak to do the job.

We must not fall into this trap. Rather we should help and assist China into becoming the next superpower. When China becomes the superpower, this will nuetralise the West hegemony.

China must not be passive anymore, and must start leading the Asian countries to free ourselves from the West hegemony.

I think now is the time we start demanding things since we are strong now. Things like restructuring the UN, such no county have no veto powers which have caused the UN to be ineffective, making Palestine a country in the UN, impose sanctions on Israel and charging their leaders as war criminals for the killings of innocent Palestinians, etc.

One Japanese diplomat was saying a great game is being played in Asia. To the West I say, let us play this great game of theirs. They can plan all they want but it is Allah that will decide what happens.

    Selamat Menyambut Hari Merdeka Tun.

  24. Salam Sejahtera Tun berdua dan pembaca budiman semua,
Salam Kemerdekaan buat semua anak bangsa.

    1. Saya kasihan melihat sebilangan rakyat Malaysia yang benar-benar menyangka bahawa mereka bijak dan berani.

    2. Sedangkan hakikatnya, mereka buta dan tuli.

    3. Adakah sebuah negara itu terbina dengan tiba-tiba? Begitu sahaja? Tanpa sejarahnya yang tersendiri?

p/s: Tun, you are easy to understand because you have no hidden agendas. All your agendas are clear and well laid out to be shared with others. Unlike the minds of some we may have in our midst. People think you are complicated and your thoughts deserved analyses because they sincerely do not believe that you could do all that you do -sincerely, as they may lack the same sincerity. Kata Hukama’: Semua insan pasti binasa kecuali yang beriman, Semua yang beriman pasti binasa kecuali yang beramal, semua yang beramal pasti binasa kecuali yang ikhlas. Keikhlasan, Tun- is a very precious commodity- and as all other precious things, they do not come easily.

The views of the Jewish Rabbi
    And
    Arab/Muslim World Atheists
    On
    Modern day democracy

Pasted below are two links for two separate and quite intresting video clips. In the first link you will see how atheists in the Arab/Muslim world operate under the cover of different names and pseudo titles. There are those who are boastful and openly admit that they are atheists and derive special pleasure in publicly exercising their rebelion against the God Alimghty just as they enjoy exhibiting their sophistication and intellectual ability so as to impress others, especially the gullible, but actually do very little for the good of anyone if at all! These are followed by the more cunning category who never disclose their true identity, or beleif, and operate under the cover of dubious names of liberalists and secularists. All Arab/Muslim atheists are mostly western educated and/or Western based ( living in the West), as for those few who are not, their sole purpose in life is to get into the books of their atheistic masters in the ” Civilised World” as exposed by their anti- Islamic inclinations and affiliations in their presentation, in the frist viedo clip.

In the second video clip you will hear Rabbi who says, amongst other things, “Democracy is the unlimited atheism…democracy is the peak of atheism… democracy is the root of all evil ”

It is as if the Rabbi is talking to these opportunistic atheists in the Arab/Muslim world thereby exposing their hidden agendas and telling the world, as a whole, that the root cause of all evils is the modern day democracy which they now work tooth and nail trying to impose it on us – Dog in the manger?

  26. Tun

Again on the ‘Freedom’ Banner at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics 2012, it was a mischievous and tongue-in-the cheek type of jibe at the Beijing Olympics 2008 and hypocrisy at its worse.

Even right up to the present time and age, England has always been divided into many social classes. And those that were born into the under-privileged class suffer for it throughout his/her whole life due to his or her working class accent. Where is the freedom to move up the social ladder for all ?

Efforts were made only after the 2nd World War to put everyone especially those disadvantaged by the accents, on a level playing field but there were pockets of resistance from the upper classes to this day.

The first area to be tackled by the Labour Government was the introduction of the National Health Service together with very high death duties for the wealthy who managed to survive through the legal loopholes or abodes like Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Bahamas etc.

The different social classes did not mix even though there were attempts at more intimate relationships with the footballers and the like by the hedonistic British upper classes in the 1990s. This was no big deal. It was a fad or fashion to have a footballer as a boyfriend.

This ‘Freedom’ is a legacy of the past, of the medieval times, of the British Empire when human resources were required to do things for the Royalty and its Court.

The greatest loss of life by the working classes was in the Great War of 1914-1918 and the Second World War in the defence of the King and the British Empire. The word ‘Freedom’ was never used maybe for fear of waking up the working classes who were the foot-soldiers.

The social strata is still embedded into the different verbal accents of the English language which divides the social classes like a 100 layer cake.

Hence, the use of the word ‘Freedom’ jarred one’s senses and awareness of the English historical condition and reminds one of the deaths of millions around the World.

The word ‘Peace’ would have been more appropriate.

  27. Tun

    For Ritz

    I sympathize with your plight.

This is why I always say that Malaysia is easy to govern if you know how otherwise it becomes very complicated.

I am sure the Minister of Finance in his fairness and reasonableness would not just snuff out a traditional business like yours which industry has been in existence as far as I could remember.

Anything which is negative or heavy-handed from the Government is probably due to neglect or oversight which could both be corrected to the satisfaction of all the parties concerned.

Vote BN even though I myself was sometimes unhappy or upset when events did not flow my way. Mistakes do happen as we are all human and it is up to human beings to correct and improve them.

  28. Salam YAB & diKasihi Tun,

    ”SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA!” kepada semua.

    Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!…

    Terima kasih Malaysia.

Terima kasih Tun kerana usaha berterusan Tun untuk MEMERDEKAKAN minda rakyat Malaysia.

*** Semoga Allah SWT melindungi Tun sekeluarga. ***

  29. Good morning YAB,

    15. The 13th General Election result will be a democratic yardstick for BN to transform themselves for better understanding at the democratic process that they have enjoyed 55 years ago.

    16. Many ruling governments in other countries also did badly because of the maturing of democratic process in the world including the red dot down there which have nothing to do with the so-called western countries’ influences.

    17. If it’s not because BN has confident, trust and faith with YAB’s charisma leadership and ideology, UMNO and BN shall never dare to manipulate the electrode of 2/3 majority via vote buying especially in developing Sarawak and Sabah.

    18. Islam is the national official religion for Malaysia in the name of Yang Dipertuan Agong.

    19. Islam is not the political religion for Malaysia.

    20. I cannot support UMNO or PAS lawmakers whom used Islam as political power as political campaign to achieve absolute power at the expenses of other religions.

    21. Until today, The Saudi Arabia King has not announce the haji quota for Mekah and Medina.

    22. Whether UMNO and PAS, tolerate or don’t tolerate the existence of other races, if without other races existence granted as citizen of Malaysia, Malaysia can never come this far.

    23. Malaysia is a secular country since Merdeka because of Democracy process.

    24. This is a fact that no political parties can change.

    Selamat Hari Merdeka, YAB.

  31. Tun

Honestly I did not notice the ‘Freedom’ banner at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics, I was asleep.

As it is generally known, only the Americans die for freedom but not the British or the French who died for money. It is odd that this word ‘Freedom’ which has caused the unwarranted deaths of millions of humankind in our world’s history did politicise the London Olympic Games 2012 at its very conclusion.

In the same month of August 2012 as the Olympic Games 2012, we were horrified to see on TV the deaths of 44 South African miners who only demanded a rise in wages in a platinum mine. Where was their freedom ?

A debate on ‘ We have nothing to fear from the rise of China’ which was held in Sydney, Australia. The proposed motion lost overwhelmingly. Only a very few Chinese faces dotted the audience. The audience was mainly middle-aged Australians. Is this the beginning of the containment of China through mischief in anticipation of a cooling of all round Western hegemonic activities in the Middle East and the rise of China in Africa ?

I do not see how the world’s Western Hegemony could be disposed or replaced by a country which is one of the poorest in the World even in the next 100 years inhabited by people with different philosophies from the West !

A fairly good representation of Western Hegemony is to be found in the history of Germany after the lst World War.

The newly born babes of independence after the 2nd World War even with charismatic and outstanding leaders paled into insignificance when compared with the loss of freedom by the Germans of Germany.

Despite the rise of Hitler from 1934 to the horrific end of the 1000 year Reich in May 1945, the history of the Germans thereafter was one of humiliation and shame imposed upon them by the victors from the communist Soviet Union and the United States and her Allies.

Germany was carved up into 2 parts – one part with the imposition of the United States, British and French armies with freedom and democracy and the other part, freedom from the capitalists and authoritarianism.

With the end of the Cold War in 1989, a phrase coined by Winston Churchill in a speech in the United States in 1948, West Germany and East Germany came together again with the removal of the hated Berlin Wall set up by the Communists.

However, the American military are still in Germany since May 1945.

Germany is alleged to have become free and democratic. The fortitude and the hard-working nature of the German people again propelled them to be one of the leading industrialized countries of the World.

Can Germany ever become independent and free ?

In the past, without the super-speed telemedia, global events moved slowly and generally, the world’s citizens were more ignorant as a result.

The influence of Western Hegemony depends entirely on a country’s political leadership whether to be entirely within its sphere like in Singapore or friendly to it because of the importance of US investments to provide jobs and revenue, like Malaysia or ignore it altogether like Cuba.

We should specially note that Malaysia without much ado, has risen to be politically and geographically important to the super super powers. The number of US and foreign VIPs who passed through KL in recent years, reminds one of your phrase ‘ Beware of Greeks bearing gifts ‘!

Hence, my contention that KL is now a leading centre for espionage overtaking Singapore and Bangkok.

It is important the Malaysian political leadership understands itself and the rest of the world in its own interests being sovereignty, national interests and self-esteem especially in a unique and sometimes complicated country like Malaysia.

Nasser, Pandit Nehru, Soekarno, Jinnah, Mao-tse Tung were national patriots without peer because they did not sell their grand-mothers down river so to speak.

To be a leader of a country of millions or hundreds of millions, such a leader would have a different mind-set. Somewhat unlike the ignorants or detractors who call you all sorts of names even though all were beneficiaries of your famous 22 year Administration or successive BN Governments this since Merdeka, 55 years ago.

In essence, Western Hegemony is somewhat like the law of the jungle (concrete), the fiercest and strongest prevails. With the history of the Middle East being written every day since 1947 when Britain gave up its Mandate for Palestine and with the end of the Cold War in 1989 and the resumption of the World into a more orderly place, the Western Hegemony focussed on their source of life for survival, the supply of oil. Middle Eastern pro-Western despots who were useful during the Cold War are now swept aside as ‘Arab Spring’ (cleaning) and replaced by democracy and freedom. They should just have retired and much blood would not have been shed.

Hence, the Malaysian copycats do not jive with their ‘Malay Spring’ calls.

Malaysia has had Malaysian Freedom which is our own since Merdeka in 1957.

Spinning and spin-doctors are very much a Western product in a developed country which is far ahead in its development of all things human.

Hence, it is better for a small country like Malaysia to keep its freedom and democracy with a political entity like the BN instead of having copy-cat Opposition political parties which have no ideological differences with it bar the money scandals which can easily be corrected because these were administrative.

Parties like the DAP, inspired by Singapore which is now proved to be quite ordinary and made major mistakes as well, and PAS with its discipline and humanism should join the BN to contribute to Malaysia’s unique and extraordinary efforts in nation building.

Why split hairs for vainglory ?

It was the BN which obtained for us Malaysians the Merdeka, what more freedoms can the Opposition parties give us ? Hitler’s Germany ?

Vote BN for delivery of election promises always !

  32. Tun,
Freedom also means that the palestinians should have their freedom to an independent states that are free from israelis occupation.
A freedom that the US and western countries denies to the palestinians.
It also means the freedom for third world countries bussinessmen to participate and manipulate the share markets and bussiness sectors in the developing countries just as they had done in the third world countries.
Let there be freedom and no laws that protect the local markets in the developing countries.
It also includes the freedom to sell our palm oil in the US and western countries without smear campaigns to our commodities.
Also the freedom to participate in the political process of the developing countries if possible by funding monies to political parties that are in our favours.
Freedom to built mosque anywhere in the US and in the western countries especially in Denmark and also the freedom to azan call for prayer everyday for muslims.
Lastly, freedom that are equals to all and not only to the western perspective of freedom.
    Salam Tun.

  33. Yes it’s true YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mahathir,I am a money changer and our entire industry is going through hell now.we don’t know what they want and our Central Bank is trying to implement according to their rules and regulations. My great grandfather started the business, now it seems going to come for an END. SO SAD.

  34. salam tun,

very impressive post.. it is the reality that they rule the world with Banks and stupid satanic laws as the people have to follow them indirectly.. However, the Heat is already begin on the collapsing of the system… hopefully most of us will recognize them.. the most important thing is we want the One eyed Guy to be killed in front of us.. and the people who follow them as well..

  35. Western World Leaders Preaches Democracy,Freedom
Do They Practice What They Preach
It,s More Of Putting The Words Democracy
    Into Its Own People Mouth

  36. Freedom is paramount for participants at the olympic games, be they male, female, transgendered, muslims or otherwise, able or disabled, of any sexual persuasion, & whether they come as athletes, coaches, officials, or spectators. As long as everyone abides by the rules that will ensure civil participation & the highest level of sportsmanship.
    May the best athlete wins.

In the real world of politics, freedom is yet another story waiting for a suitable director…

  37. We can never be 100% free due to the interpendences with each other in many ways. Just as we are all dependent on the sun for our survival. Weaker countries will oppressed by superpowers similar to citizen being manipulated by people in high office respectively in their own countries. Maybe this is the nature of our human realm.

  38. WHO IS THIS AMERICANS, BRITISH
WESTERN TO TELL THE WORLD WHAT TO DO

    WE CAN BREAK THEIR CHAIN
    IGNORE THEIR CALLS
    IGNORE THEIR EXISTANCE
