2. We thought at that time that even if we wanted to, we couldn’t. The technology was not available for us to do this. And so Malaysiakini and other sites flourished.
3. Now that I have retired I feel glad that we made the decision not to censor. I have benefited much from the blogs as have very many bloggers. There may be a few who have abused this blogging privilege but by and large it has served the public well. The mainstream media in Malaysia need no censoring as they censor themselves. So the blogs can report what really happens. It can be the alternative source of news. And there is a need for this other source for the mainstream media will always be guarding their behind.
5. Now, I know better. Robert Fisk, one of the great Western journalists has revealed that when writing about their own countries and about the West in general they adhere to official sources and use clichés which masked the truth. They too indulge in self-censoring. I recommend that everyone interested in the so-called freedom of the press should read his book – The Age of The Warrior.
6. Press freedom is supposed to be an essential part of the practice of Western Democracy. The assumption is that with press freedom truth will prevail. But the freedom is also about telling lies, about promoting evil agendas, demonizing individuals, twisting facts, hounding people to death and all other kinds of evil.
7. The Internet has now given not just journalists but given just about anyone the same capacities to tell the truth, to lie and twist facts and do all the good and evil things. There is no censoring the Internet.
8. But I am concerned about the dissemination of pornographic material. I am concerned because there can be no doubt that sex related crimes are more common today due to the easily excitable young having access to filthy pornographic material. Sexual immorality among youths is more common today than ever before.
9. Something has to be done to the Internet’s promotion of immorality. The world community should agree that the promotion of pornography via the Internet should be stopped. Failing this Malaysia should censor all pornographic material on the Internet, guarantees notwithstanding.
10. It is possible to do this now and it should be done. It will not be 100% successful but it will prevent easy access at least. Moral decay should not be allowed to be promoted. Certainly moral decay should not be speeded up via the Internet.
Salam Tun
I agree with you on this.
Dear Tun,
As I have stated before, the ethos and culture on the Internet is based on a right-wing Anarchism prevalent in American culture, especially the post 1960s culture or sub-culture.
No allow me to quote Max More in The Freeman, published by the Foundadtion of Economic Education, a paleo-conservative organisation.
While I neither subscribe with nor agree with all of its views, still, below is an excerpt from Max More’s article, Liberty and Responsibility: Inseparable Ideals.
Reading through it, it’s clear that what our Internet libertarians want is total and absolute license, which runs against even the ideals of paleo-conservatives like More, who believe that there can be no liberty without responsibility.
=====
Liberty and Responsibility
Over the course of this century the ideals of liberty and personal responsibility have increasingly drifted apart. Personal responsibility cannot exist without liberty, and liberty will not endure without responsibility. Liberty without responsibility is license.
Liberty-as-license has become a widespread aspect of our culture. It manifests itself in many ways: in desires for freedom to do anything without restraint and without cost (someone else will bear the cost); the demand for income as a right (someone else will produce the income); the expectation of guaranteed commercial success (someone else will pay the costs of government subsidies and protection from foreign and
Dear Tun,
I would agree with Alistaire on this point.
“DO NOT listen to the views of liberals here who postulate that so-called “education” is the way to handle the porn scourge. Education helps, but it alone is not enough. Can we really say that drug cases have gone down with all the education efforts poured in? Surely not. Remember, much as liberals like to deny it, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.”
Let’s look at a very simple example of the our observance of the Highway Code.
At driving school we learn to give right of way to cars on a roundabout but once we’ve answered all the right questions in our driving test and passed, we adopt the bad practices of other motorists and ignore such protocols of the road in practice, with the result that all are inconvenienced.
The lanes beside and behind housing blocks are especially for service and emergency vehicle access but how often do you find selfish people who park their cars in these access lanes, blocking them.
What value then is education when selfish interests are involved, when what is needed is enforcement, which is sorely lacking.
That said of course, the effectiveness of roundabouts in serving their purpose should be reviewed, especially with the much heavier traffic we have today and if deemed no longer effective, the roundabouts should be replaced with traffic light controlled junctions and flyovers, as what is already being done in some parts of Petaling Jaya and elsewhere but perhaps not quickly enough.
I suspect these Internet liberals advance such arguments to try and defeat any attempts at any form of control or regulation, even for the public good.
It’s the same kind of argument as. “If you don’t like to see something objectionable on TV, just change channel of turn it off.”
No law or regulation passed has ever been 100% effective but that does not mean we should do away with laws and regulations.
A culture of beating the system is nothing great and does not lead to any productive creativity, nor productive application of one’s intelligence.
A bank robber is certainly intelligent but not in a productive way.
Likewise, a culture of applying one’s intelligence to crack software and hack into computer systems or to steal other’s passwords and other confidential information is not productive and will not lead to the development of good IT products.
The worst thing which can happen by our use of the Internet is if we merely become great users who learn to be savvy at spending all our time online accessing social networking sites and downloading porn.
That certainly won’t lead us to become a knowledge-based society producing high value products, but instead lead us to become like the hedonistic citizens of Rome who indulged in decadence in the dying days of the Roman Empire, and might I say, the U.S. in its dying days, as people pay more attention to the next American Idol or the next iPad, while their country gets deeper into debt, involves itself in unjustified wars, as the American Empire wanes.
Tun,
I have never bought into this argument by Internet libertarians that the Internet “cannot be successfully censored” because there always are ways for the tech-savvy to get around it, which indeed is true.
By that same token, it could be argued that we should not have any laws against drug trafficking, since even the harshest of laws, including the mandatory death penalty have not been able to completely stop drug trafficking.
Sure, even the harshest of penalties have not been able to completely stop it, so does that mean we should totally allow drug trafficking?
No laws ever instituted nor prosecutions passed down based upon have ever been 100% effective but does that mean we should abolish all laws and opt for anarchy instead?
The culture and ethos of the Internet is based upon right-wing anarchism emanating from the United States and quite frankly, despite all the free speech and free expression which they have, and no doubt the excellent articles and blogs exposing that 9-11 was a professionally executed planned demolition job, still despite all the anti-establishment talk and chatter online, including against the U.S. imperialist wars on Iraq, Afghanistan and now likely against Iran & Pakistan, the U.S. presidential administration continues unfazed with escalation of war, whatever the people may say or think.
I guess they call that “democracy” and “empowerment” of the people.
Well, Internet freedom has achieved just as much politically in the real world as the soapbox orators in Hyde Park’s Speakers Corner in London, U.K.
Many times, we have to go back to basics and remind ourselves why is such and such a thing in existence. When you started the multimedia super corridor, you must have a lot in mind. Once upon a time, children listen to their fathers telling stories because there were no others means of letting others know of what was happening. It was the word of the mouth then. How reliable is the word of mouth is up to the trust of the individual listener. Then the ever inquisitive brain possessing human started questioning and started finding out. From invention to innovation. Today we have the information technology which know no bounds. Again, it is up to the individual whether he trusts what he reads or not. Virtual reality that enables one to communicate to the whole wide world. Our problems are no longer just Malaysian problems. Our problems affect others because when they read our problems, they can find similarities and differences and in fact, there are more common stuff than uncommon ones. Everything must be done in moderation. Either extremes are unhealthy. Reality and virtual reality must be balanced. One cannot hide in virtual reality forever because while it exists, it does not really exists. Reality exists in a very real form complete with happiness and sadness which one has to go through. As for politics, well, when people read, they will start to question. Therefore politicians must know what is going on. Politicians cannot go on living inside their nice beautiful comfortable palaces thinking that what is outside is equally good and just a few good spoken words are enough. The 20th century is gone. We are in the 21st century and we have passed the first 10 years of the 21st century. Time waits for no man.

Memanglah!!!
“Tak boleh sekat semua, sekat sikit” Ini belum apa-apa dah ngaku kalah.

Geli hatilah cara pikir engkau orang ni.
YABhg Tun,
…self censorship,…anyone?????
1) internet is not a major contribution to sex crimes. No study shown, and internet has been in Malaysia for more than 15 years already. Why now raised this issue?
2)I smell politic.
3)If govt can block pornography on internet, then there will be MINISTRY OF INTERNET BLOCKING.
4)for those who are familiar with internet, you know that you can never block pornography. It will always easy to find, no such thing as hard or complicate kids to find the materials.
5)well, UTUSAN contributed to porno download as well, as they published about Maria Ozawa in the newspaper. abu: who the heck is Maria Ozawa, oh let’s google it, what? japanese pornstar? now lets download. tq utusan.
6)let the internet be FREE from any political temptation.
7)this is so ironic.
Dearest Tun
I agree with andrewtay about our right and freedom to criticize the govt whom he think is here to do our bidding and not to plunder the coffers of the people.
1) I agree to this, and to add on I think the salutation of the Yang Berhormat to the politicians should be discontinued immediately because it would distract them from their actual purpose of our appointing them,to do hardwork as our servant, not our boss..
2) I would recommend that our Sultan/Royalty should confer any honorary titles only after they have finished their job and that too after they have achieved the KRAs .
3) Why this is important is because the moment these servants of ours are awarded the titles they will immediately forget who they are and instead of serving us they will expect us serve them..Banyak cantik…They should be just Encik/Puan /Mister/Miss/Mrs only for that’s who they are.
4) They should remember how lowly they were when they were begging for our votes with all the fantastic promises almost to the extent of becoming beggars so why should they suddenly be so respected the moment we , the bosses have agreed to give them a job?
All you servants out there you are all reminded to do your job well or we may not hesitate to replace you with others come PRU13.The real boss the Rakyat has now spoken. Thanks Tun.
Tun and all concerned members of society,
DO NOT listen to the views of liberals here who postulate that so-called “education” is the way to handle the porn scourge. Education helps, but it alone is not enough. Salam,

HAPPY 57th BIRTHDAY to our 6th Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak……MAY ALL PM’S WISHES COMES TRUE, May ALLAH Always Be With Him…….
Due to hectic schedule for Nation Key Economic Areas, PM Najib may choose to celebrate his birthday in Sawarawak, or 3 to 4 hours in the flight and KLIA if PM decides to return to his current home base in KL.
Will Ayahanda Tun attending inofficial PM’s birthday party (secara peribadi tanpa jemputan Press Media) due to time constraint of PM’s tight planned schedule if there is one? If pencuci mulut of famous ‘ais kacang ABC tempatan’ is served, will Ayahanda Tun try the dessert after the main course? Many of the Malaysians like ais kacang tempatan served by hawkers in the 60’s, and now it is served in hotels and many restaurants in the country, and Zaid Ibrahim informed us that London serves ais kacang………
Good day, Ayahanda Tun. By the way, my P.M. unit trust fund of RM5,000 for Islamic Dividen Fund (Moderate Fund) after 2 years got Islamic Dividen of 5% now if I sell off the unit trust fund, but I have decided not to sell it as per historical data, the longer time we hold the fund, the higher dividen will be declared to hedge against inflation that will only on the ups as per Universal Norm………
P.S. To Sir (Ravi), why should KDN and TV stations allow our ex-PMs to debate in the country neh? Both PMs are the ‘Have Been’, and they will support the 6th PM of 1 Malaysia no matter what happened because they are the ex-PMs………
USA citizens are OK with live-telecast debate for Presidency during Obama in 2007 for TV stations to obtain viewer rating to earn A & P campaigns from the Democrates and Republicans……….
Mr Lim Guan Eng and TS Koh Tsu Khoon have copied this method blindly in 2008, and the outcome was “passing balls” as per Shakepeare’s Much ado about nothing….
The game of political parties’ passing balls is still running hot in press media, to maintain circulation in the nations, in Penang and PJ with Mr Lim Guan Eng (DAP Leader cum CM of Penang) vs Nik Ali (UMNO members cum Federal’s head of civil servant in Penang office)…
Well, Sir (Ravi), British TV show of “Britain Got Talent” got sued for ‘copyright’ as per today’s paper.
Haven’t you learn not to score high as copycat?
The high scoring in copycat will only create 7 perpectives, contohnya………

2. Stealing copyright from the original inventor and innovator is a criminal crime, you will be sued, and might be ‘bankrupted by this crime’!!
3. If you do not update yourself with techinques, data management and readers’ appetitide, you will end up loosing your readers ………and people like to try something new, innovative and creative……

6. Haven’t you update and learn the know how to keep yourself fit and healthy?
7. Without fitness and positive thinking, how to manage yourself lively with good mood in the free market system neh???
8. I was rather suprised to see MIC office is in bad and terrible in near Plaza Pekeliling, KL, and what happened, Sir (Ravi)??
9. Yesterday, a Malay main stream paper reported that the Ahli Parliment Pembangkang ran crazy and out of control whereby they threw chairs and shoes at the Speaker of the Parliament. They claimed that the ruling AP makan rasuah, and one of the female AP ‘cabut’ the plant from the vase and swung the plant to her competitors (or enemies?) outside the Parliment….why are thet so hot tempered and out of control? Were these Pembangkang2 influenced by the media owners that they are the fittest party to rule this India’s territory?

Asssalamualaikum Tun,
‘Firstly, studies have shown that there is no correlation between increased access to pornography and a rise in sex crimes. If anything, studies have shown a *drop* in sex crimes. Maybe it helps when people have other avenues to vent their pent-up sexual energies instead of resorting to violence on the streets’.
That is bullshit!!
According to our source, pornography promotes promiscuity and immorality and our source cannot be wrong. Our source is the NOBLE QURAN.
Muslims should ponder and reflect on what Bro. Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) had to say about the moral decay of the Muslim society. Yusuf Islam was reported to have said that
“THE WEST IS LIKE A SUNKEN SHIP AND NOW MUSLIMS ARE RUSHING TO BUY TICKETS TO GO ON BOARD THE SUNKEN SHIP”.
Muslims must realise that there are people who have been recruited by the West to sell the tickets to that sunken ship… so beware of people like Anwar Ibrahim and his gang , Sisters-in ‘Islam’ who uses women’s right as an excuse to lead us astray.

Dear Tun,
May I refer to the comment by Razak July 21, 2010 12,54 am. It is such a beautiful pantun. I shed tears reading it. Our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the whole cabinet should read it. In essence, do not blame the government’s financial mismanagement and wastefulness on subsidies for the rakyat.

Tun M
while I agree that the Internet has provided those with a voice which otherwise would have been stifled by mainstream media, I do believe that moderators don’t do enough to ensure their blogs are free of racist and bigoted comments.
Take your blogs for instance – racist comments appear from time to time yet you dont see any need or responsibility to purge them. Yet when you were PM, you were one of the biggest champions to ensure that people remained responsible when commenting against personalities or organisations.
You yourself have had double standards in how you think an idea has to be promoted – you censured your predecessor Tunku Abdul Rahman when he openly criticised you and the only thing that benefitted you was that the internet did not exist in how we know it at that time. If it did, I am sure you would have censured it. You take lots of pot shots at your immediate successor yet when I haev constantly requested you dialogue hiom in the open, you have no intention whatsoever. So you use the internet as a veil or a vehicle to make your personal vendetta known, knowing sure you’re not going to get any reprisals back. Using the internet as a security is cowardly I say.
So, if you are geniune as you say you are – dont hide behind the internet. Challenge Tun Abdullah once and for all for a open and live televised debate and get all the things of your chest once and for all. That makes a man…not someone who uses the convenience of a computer and a blogsite.
And if your blind supporters want me to walk the talk, I am open to a live televised debate with yourself as well. Of course your devotees will ask ” who am I to even suggest a proposterous idea like that”…that is their right to remain in the dark ages that common citizen cannot ask for an open dialogue with a former leader as yourself.
(Ravi)
Dear Tun,
May I refer to andrewtay july 21, 2010 9.03am. I disagree with your idea of total freedom in society. You even want to compliment a murderer and allow drug to be widely used like in China before the opium war. Do you realise the consequence of such unbridled freedom? If pornography, sexual promiscuity and prostitution is allowed, then our society will degenerate into the animal kingdom, without morality, widespread venereal diseases, AIDS and suffering, rampant sodomy, daily street demonstrations and non stop reformasi agitation. There will be chaos in society. You can fantasise and imagine but they are negative and destructive.
Just imagine a lawless society, amoral and you only have the law of the jungle. You will have anal sex, oral sex, animal/human sex and all kinds of perverted sex. Such society without religion is not sane, moral and not suitable for humans to live in.

Ever since Hugh Hefner made the female pubic public there is no turning back. Pornography is getting ever hardcore and easily available to the public in the internet and pasar malam.
The young get easily exited and may want to imitate deepthroat and other immoral stuff. The old get exitable too, finding their partners boring secretly romp somewhere/someone else. Remember Soi Lek?
We tend to say that adults can self-censure. If so, can a survey be conducted as to the extent and content? The innocent young are easily influenced. Due to lack of guidance and supervision become they become victims of pornography.
As the technology to censure pornography in the internet is available it should be used in order to prevent moral decay. It is just too tempting.
The west is already too deep in it to extract themselves out. As a result their values are full of contradictions. Tiger romped on-and-off turf. Killing is nothing compared to a life of a dog.
Ayahanda Tun,
Malaysian Mirror’s Opinion from Thomas Lee, if I am not wrong, he is the Chief Editor in Sinchew.
//A gross violation of the civil service code
Thomas Lee
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 18:00
OPINION THE current spat between Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and the state development officer Nik Ali Mat Yunus highlights a fundamental flaw in the Malaysian civil service.
In the democratic system of government, of which Malaysia professes to practise, the civil service is a
politically non-partisan and neutral body, with all its officers supposed to function and operate impartially in the implementations of the policies, programmes, and projects of the elected government.
Artcile 132 of the Federal Constitution states that federal civil servants hold office at the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and state civil servants at the pleasure of the respective Sultan. Which means that the civil servants are not beholden to any political party but to His Majesty’s government of the day. His Majesty is above politics, and so must all those civil servants appointed under his royal command and name.
As is supposed to be the practice, a change in the government after a general election is not supposed to
affect the administration and public service of the nation or a state as the civil service’s loyalty is absolutely with His Majesty’s elected government of the day.
The fundamental flaw in Malaysia is that civil servants think they are officers of the Barisan Nasional, specifically Umno, and even with a change of government at the state level, they operate as if Umno is the authority and Umno leaders their bosses, taking orders only from Umno.
A dangerous attitude
Such a dangerous attitude borders on sedition, as if it could be interpreted to mean the civil servants are not serving His Majesty’s elected government, but taking order from those not authorised constitutionally to give them.
The very fact that Nik Ali participated at a press conference called by Umno and used it to launch an
unwarranted and unjustified verbal attack on the chief minister is a gross violation of his status as a non-
partisan and neutral civil servant.
The fundamental integrity and probity of the civil service have been desecrated by Nik Ali’s involvement in the political press conference initiated by an Umno state assembly member, something not to be taken lightly by the Cabinet and the Public Service Commission.
Nothing less than an appropriate disciplinary action should be taken against Nik Ali for such a serious case of lese majeste. And he should be made to apologise to His Majesty for exposing the civil service to ridicule and derision, and to the chief minister.
Uncooperative civil servants
Guan Eng, and perhaps also the other Pakatan Rakyat state chief executives like Khalid Ibrahim of
Selangor, has been facing a lot of difficulties in the running of the state government due to uncooperative
civil servants whose loyalty is apparently to Umno.
In the Nik Ali case, Guan Eng has no choice but to publicly reprimand the federal officer for allegedly not being accountable and responsible for his mistakes which affect the well-being of the state.
Salam Sejahtera, Tun.
I am very much agreed with your statements about how the internet does to our life. Especially to the children born after year 2000. They are the e-generation who have been growing up in the environment of advanced technology, including computer and internet.
Few years ago, my company have forseen the effect of internet causing problems to the youngsters. We noticed that most of the children and youths are exposed to the internet without guidance. They spent most of the time on the social networking sites, chatrooms, and age inappropriate websites. These can cause the children unhealthy development and hence causing children behaving appropriately, to the extreme cases, some may even behaving abnormally because of the addiction to the internet. Recently, the American Psychology Association is even considering to categorize Internet Addiction as a psychological disorder. Hence, we can see that the problem has become serious.
Few weeks ago, Norton Online Family Research has found that Malaysian chidlren have spent an everage of 19 hours every week and parents have underestimated the time children spent online. Our dear Marina Mahathir have also recently posted an article in The Star Newspaper talked about Online Threat to Reading Culture. She said that “The Web language has changed not only the way we communicate but also rewired our brains to only respond to things that are short and fast”. Children spending time on the internet have eventually causing them lack of focus on their studies and decreasing their interest to read books.
Therefore, my company has started a software named GAME OVERdose as a solution to help parents to manage their children webabout and build their habits of studying (which makes us advanced than the typical parental control), helping them to balancing playing with learning. http://www.internetoveruse.com/ We are very concerned about parents who have difficulties managing their children internet usage. We have also provided useful information and researches on children internet usage, creating the awareness to the public on managing your internet usage.
Thanks for the opportunity to share. Have a great day.
Salam Sejahtera Ybhg Tun,
If we are seriously concern about pornography and children, than the best and effective way to overcome this issue is education. It is not censorship. Parents have to do their part to educate and guide their children. Parents cannot take the easy way out of such “tight and uncomfortable” position by hoping and expecting censorship. This is the 21st Century. Parents have to talk to their kids about sex and pornography. I am a parent and I talk to my child about sex and pornography. I make the time and effort to educate her about such things and explain to her why such things exist. My kid has her own notebook and ocassionally, I will do spot check on it and so far so good. So, censorship is not the way to go about things anymore. It is education!!
Of course, if you are talking or implying about something else, well, again, censorship is not the way also. How much can you censor? If there is a will, there is a way. People are cleverer nowadays. How do you think you can stop them from gaining any information they want? You have to accept the fact that people can now think and analyze what is going on. If it is lies, people will know and people will reject. So, the best thing in life as taught by the law of GOD is to have integrity, speak the truth and be sincere!!
So, tell your BN people to practise the law of GOD.. they have not been doing that for a LOOOOONG time!

Tun,
I think pronography is not good but what is wrong to you might be right to others. Yes, there are changes to the way of life between yesteryears and today but they are not necessary wrong. Education is the best way and parents are the main and best educator. Schools can teach us intellectual subjects but they cannot teach us moral and spiritual subjects and when they do they teaches the students to be extremist.
Watching pornography can be wrong but it can also be very helpful to some married couples too. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong and all things have its wrongs and rights so we should not be too critical to anything in this world.
In your case, you are concern about Malaysians but you cannot be the father and guardian to all but anyway pornography is a top hot topic and it will not end which mean it is popular and being popular people will continue to sell, buy and use it. Whatever and however people use and think it is a private matter and no one has the right to stop it except for the parents (in the case of children)
You are using Islamic teaching and old ways in you comments example like muslims cannot eat pork as it is haram so all muslims are forbidden to eat pork from birth. It is not wrong and all religion teaches us good things but in this modern world people like freedom and if there is any modern days religion that try to tell their followers not to do something or forbidden them to do something, followers will question. Olden days people are more obedient in the other words the more you forbidden someone to do something the more they will want to try. The world has changed so is the weather and people. Older ways may be good at a particular time (era) but not necessary good now.
Anyway we know you care and we care too.
there is a picture pre 1940 …Pix: The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini with Hitler…you go and google it
so did the jerusalem palestine conspired (or giving moral support) with Hitler to wipe out Jews worldwide and in Europe????

In the real world, some nations introduce the legal red districts. The red district for the cyber world would best be the “.xxx” domain.
Any porn website must end with the “.xxx”. If a website with a “.com” address contains pornographic material, it can then be easily blacklisted for violating the “.xxx” rule.

I would like Malaysians to have freedom of speech in any way, right or form. It may be a freedom to compliment a murderer, a freedom to criticise a government or to express you desires to make sweeet love with 1000 women!
Yes, i have to agree, that freedom of speech and expression may come with a price, the price of abuse. Still, i think its better to have something than to not have it at all. In fact, while living in Malaysia, i craved for it like a druggie’s addiction for drugs!
Im sure all of us dreamt that one day we will be able to stand up to a government with our mere voices, criticising the people’s government that “hey, you are doing things wrong, come down to earth you arrogant, sly, useless good for nothing government and listen to the people” – after all its the people who elected them. So why cant we criticise them? The government is here to do our bidding, its not here to reap the benefit of their election success by plundering the coffers of the people.
Tun, Salam bahagia, semoga sihat selalu.
As Tun said
Salam YAB Tun,
Birds of a feather flock together.
KEMANA PERGI SUBSIDI KAMI
Kalian rampas subsidi kami, entah ke mana dibawa lari,
Kalian beritahu, wang mesti dicatu, kita menuju maju..
Kalian kata: jika tidak, semua menderita, habis harta negara..
Kalian berbahasa: bukan barang naik harga,
Cuma subsidi turun sahaja..
Kami orang desa, mungkin tak pandai kira berjuta-juta..
Kami orang kecil kota, mungkin tiada sedemikian harta..
Jika kalian tipu sebegitu, biasanya kami diam selalu..
Tapi dapatkah kami dibohongi, tentang suapan saban hari?
Apalah yang dapat diberitahu anak ke sekolah..?
Papa makin parah..? Wang semakin lelah..?
Jika semalam berlauk, hari Cuma berkuah..
Kerana kerajaan kita sedang susah..?
Maka subsidi kita terpaksa diserah..
Jika semalam kau makan sepinggan, hari ini separuh
Kerana barang makin angkuh, wang papa makin rapuh..
Janganlah nanti mereka membenci pertiwi..
Pernahkah kalian mengintipi kehidupan kami..
Pernahkah kau merasa?
Rumah bocor yang lanjut usia..
Baju dan kasut anak yang koyak
Tinggal dalam rumah yang berasak-asak
Siang kami sebak, malam kami sesak..
Sedang kalian manusia angkasa..
Istana permata dibina, kereta berjuta dirasa..
Elaun diserata, dari isteri sehingga seluruh keluarga..
Hidangan istimewa, konon meraya kemakmuran negara..
Tiada istana lawa..tiada kereta berharga..
Tiada layanan diraja..tiada baju bergaya
Tiada kediaman menteri..tiada hidangan v.i.p..
Tiba-tiba kalian kata: kamilah beban negara..
ADUHAI CELAKA BAHASA YANG KALIAN GUNA..
Kalian yang belasah, kami yang bersalah..
Kalian buat untung, hutang kami tanggung..
Kalian mewah melimpah, kami susah parah
Kalian hilangkan wang, poket kami yang terbang..
Kalian bina istana, rumah kami jadi mangsa..
Kalian makan isi, kami dijadikan abdi..
Lantas, kalian rampas lagi subsidi..
Kemana wang itu pergi nanti?
Jika kalian berhati suci, wajib mengganti buat kami..
Jika tidak pun buat gula konon merbahaya
Mengapatidak beras diturun harga?
Jika tidak untuk minyak kereta..
Mengapa tambang tidak potong sahaja..
Tapi entah berapa kali janji..
Konon: nanti kami ganti, kami ganti, kami ganti..
Hari demi hari, ceritanya pun tidak berbunyi lagi..
Kami terus termanggu di sini..
Kalian juga yang nikmati..
Kami hanya menggigit jari..

Saya ada BEBERAPA cadangan, kalaupun agak janggal, begini;
1SAYA CADANGKAN SUPAYA MEREKA YANG PAKAR PROGRAMMING KOMPUTER DAPAT MEREKA PROGRAM YANG DAPAT MENAPIS BAHAN KARUT ITU. BUATLAH ATAS NAMA AGAMA ISLAM KITA, DEMI UNTUK MENYELAMATKAN ANAK-ANAK DAN GENERASI PELAPIS KITA. SEBARKAN PROGRAM ITU SECARA PERCUMA DEMI KESUCIAN ISLAM KITA. SAYA TAHU ADA BANYAK PROGRAM YANG DIDAPATI DI INTERNET UNTUK FILTER INI, TETAPI SEMUANYA PERLU DIBELI SELEPAS TEMPOH PERCUBAAN HABIS, SELEPAS 15 ATAU 30 HARI. BELIAN DALAM USD PULA TU.
2SAYA PERNAH TERJUMPA PROGRAM FILTER INI YANG DIBUAT ATAS NAMA CHRISTIAN CHARITY BODY. PERCUMA SAHAJA. MALANGNYA SAYA TIDAK BERJAYA DOWNLOAD KERANA CETEKNYA ILMU KOMPUTER SAYA. KALAU BADAN KRISTIAN BOLEH BERBUAT DEMIKIAN KENAPA TIDAK BADAN-BADAN ISLAM? RASA SAYA TIDAK KURANG AHLI KOMPUTER YANG BERAGAMA ISLAM. ISLAM ITU PRAKTIKAL DAN TIDAK MEMADAI DENGAN TEORI SAHAJA BEGITU DAN BEGINI.
3SUDAH TIBA MASA PIHAK BERKUASA DALAM BIDANG INI, SKMM, MEMBUAT TINDAKAN DRASTIK DENGAN MENYEKAT SEDAPAT MUNGKIN LAMAN-LAMAN KOTOR, TIDAK BERMARUAH, DAN DI LUAR BATAS SEBAGAI MANUSIA ITU DAPAT DILAYARI OLEH PENDUDUK MALAYSIA DENGAN MUDAH. SAYA TAHU JUGA IA TIDAK SEMESTINYA 100% BERJAYA.
4KALAU ADA PEMBACA YANG TAHU TERDAPATNYA PROGRAM FILTER YANG BERKESAN, TOLONG SEBARKAN

Dear Tun,
I agree with you that we should ban or block hardcore pornography in the internet inspite what others may say otherwise. Pornography is not good and is illegal. We have to do our duty and be responsible by banning or completely blocking the free or paid pornography in the internet.
Even though pornography materials may be available in DVD at pasar malam, bookshops or whatever, but they are illegal and KDN has been checking and confiscating and charging the porn peddlers in court. Combating crimes is an ongoing affair. Just because a few got away, it does not mean we allow the criminals to carry out their activities with impunity.
amin tan
How are Tun?
It is great idea only if you are joking. Yes you can censor internet, and yes the technology is available. I can provide the best filtering solution developed by Malaysian under Open Source iniative which was promoted by you, but only if you can GARANTEE that it won’t be MISS USED by authority to censor any thing else such as your blog site or any other site that question them??
The censor solution is freely available for everybody free of charge. Any parents that worry their child might accidentally or purposely visit porn site, PLEASE VISIT http://WWW.OPENDNS.COM, read, subscribe and setup a simple application which will make sure no porn content from internet is accessible from your pc.
The responsibility falls on parents and schools. I provide my product free of charge for a lot of school to make sure there is no students visit port sites. ( School NET charge RM 20,000 for this).
The filtering or censoring must be self implemented. If you enforce it, it is human nature to find a way to by pass it.
I just hope that, there is no special allocation by 100’s million by the government for some foreign company to do this in near future because, it will only cost less than 20 million and any attempt to do this at national ISP level will definitely fail. My self and thousand other will dedicate our self to develop a tool to by pass this. There will be million of hack attack to destroy the system because any type of filtration attempt by ISP or Government is considered an attempt to block freedom of internet.
I advice everybody who are worried of bad influence to their child implement filtering by their self. You can use opendns, untangle or change your child computer windows OS to XO , 1 Child 1 laptop OS which have a built in filtering capability.
If your computer suddenly pops up porn site promo, change your OS from Death Machine Micro$oft to Linux or Apple Mac. All this promo spy-wares cannot run on it.
I just can’t understand Malaysian. The minute you said internet porn must be censored, everybody start saying SAYA SOKONG. Tun, when is the last time you visited a DVD shop. Do you know that almost all of them sell porn movies publicly. Hell, some of them even have a room labeled V.I.P at the door and the room is dedicated for Porn DVDs. Just go to (Taman Tenaga, Cheras, DVD Shop beside Guardian Pharmacy ) How many of the people that say SAYA SOKONG in this site seen this but just ignore it. Why don’t they try to do something about it??? Hypocrites. I just wonder are the local authorities enforcers are blind or must we come up with a automated system (robots) to take action and stop this. I went in the shop with my 9 years old boy to buy cartoon DVD, he accidentally wondered to the room and saw the DVD and asked me why the lady on cover is nude??? What am suppose to answer? Am I suppose to worry about internet porn or porn material by road sides? I called the authorities and until now the shop are still operational. Maybe the authorities don’t dare to enter the room because it is only for V.I.P
It is easy to just blame everything compare to admit self weakness and improve it. How many parents blame their child’s friends for their child’s mistake and bad moral rather than taking the responsibility by admitting is their mistake that their child was not properly educated to be HUMAN.
BAD IMMORAL influence are every where, if you block internet content , there will be 10 new way to be influenced. Self regulation by education is the best shield a human have compare to any filter or censoring device or method.
Please stop talking about internet porn filtering because I am sure if it is implemented, your http://chedet.co.cc will also be listed as porn site and filtered. The only place freedom leaves on, is in internet, don’t give any ideas that will corrupt this. You made our 5th PM to step down using internet, do you think it is possible if there is a filtering mechanism in place at our ISP at that time.
Please. I know that you just want to safeguard our values and the minds of our young generation. I know that nobody else worries about my beloved country Malaysia compared to you. You always want the best for Malaysian and try to protect us from anything bad, but mark my word, CONTENT FILTERING WILL BE MISS USED TO SHUT PEOPLE UP by any one with power to make sure nobody question them. The price to pay is extremely high. it is not worth it because it won’t archive it purpose but it will make a lot of people with power happy. TQ

Mungkin kelihatan cara penyelesaiannya terlalu simple.Tapi mudahkanlah perkahwinan.
Terlalu mudah, sampaikan arwah sedara saya yang hisap dadah pun (dia tak pernah kawin sampai meninggal) pernah berkata “kawin dulu, rezeki anak akan ada”.
Terima kasih Tun.

From Zaid Ibrahim’s writing, he likes to belanja Raja Petra and Bala ais kacang, I guess PM Najib also like ais kacang as pencuci mulut after main course, a norm or custom practiced locally and international.

Saya menjawab bahawa kita bergembiralah PM kita
Referring to the comment by HBT on July 19, 2010 11:48 PM
Dear HBT,
I think you have misunderstand my points.
1. To build a culture/norms is easy. But, to take it out from the society, it is hard.
2. Previously, “pembuangan bayi” is a very serious issue, but today it is like normal. Maybe in future, the scenario will get worse such as “clubbing” will be open to all teenagers including the secondary school in the name of freedom.
3. Clubbing, alcohol, sex, drug, are things that connect the dots. Furthermore, Condom play its own roles in this matter. Many people misused condom especially unmarried people. Someday, people will accept this as normal, because the people todays are doing it. But, correct me if i am wrong because i never go for clubbing and this is based on my readings and research.
4. If I can rely on myself or rely on you (HBT) to do something with this problems, I don’t need to rely America, Africa, Japan, UMNO, PAS, PKR, DAP, MCA, other party or politicians. Would I be able to do this alone?
5. I expect support but it’s turn up differently. None of the politicians hear our voice, shame to all.

Fortunately Australia’s Communications Minister Stephen Conroy seems, at least for the time being, to have abandoned his crusade for massive governmental Internet censorship. (He launched his crusade ostensibly on the grounds of being against child pornography, though anyone familiar with successive Australian administrations’ contempt for ideas will feel a healthy fear that such censorship would be used against political opponents. Australia has no constitutional guarantees of free speech, has never had them, and will never have them in the foreseeable future.)

Salam YAB Tun,
Semua insan mahukan kebebasan (freedom).
Wasalam.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Please pay attention to Harian Metro, Tun. Hairan Metro alone is like the internet’s side effect on the poeple’s mind. It costs lower than a bottle of Coke while the stories inside are morally lower than a swine Tun. If you don’t believe me, TRY it for yourself Tun. Perhaps you would enlighten us how it’s editor were given such honorary title when compared to the news or stories disseminated within the rakyat.
Internet and porn is like Banking and Israel. Internet will always prevail porn no matter how it is censored, and Banking will always prevail Israel no matter how it is sanctioned, Right Tun?
mediaprima is also a good ‘advertiser’ providing platforms for ads for sex/beauty products during the prime time 8pm – 10pm segments with ads like ‘Malam Jumaat’ and ‘Ayudara’. Don’t you think that brands or campaigns like that have impact on the mentality of the poeple tun? surely the ads were put in the prime time to cater the ‘needs’ of the mass. But how do they know what the mass needed the most?
My 2 cents,
Peace.
Dear Tun Dr M,
I still remember you mentioning that filtering the internet would not be ideal as it might affect other sites which are not pornographic in nature. I remember you giving examples i.e. Middlesex, Sussex and even the word sex (as in gender) would also be filtered off. This would not only a problem but also our nation would be labelled as Anti Freedom of Speech and Anti Freedom of Expression by the West.
What I disagree with your comment is that you are saying that the moral decay of the youth today his dipped terribly as compared to those days. I still remember, during the late 80s, we had the problem of BOH SIA. I also remember during that time the youth (both male and female) were equally spoilt terribly and most of their behavior and character were at sad state. The man on the street witnessed this in disgust.
I recall the immediate measure taken by the government and that of the religious authority i.e. to force the female to wear Islamic head scarf (Tudung). I would say it was a brilliant idea and it really worked psychologically and effectively. Once they wear the scarf they controlled their behavior themselves with minimal supervision by others.
So, I would say that even after the invasion of the internet and other multimedia gadgets and facilities, it is still under control now than the 80s.
Even if the internet is filtered and restricted, those who want pornographic material, could easily get them through their Mobile Phones. Many, including me, frequently get such “indecent proposals” on our mobiles at a “small fee”. I still remember reading in the mainstream media that an ex-employee of a Malaysian telecommunication company made several millions in a few years by providing pornographic clips service. I wonder how the person was not detected by the Tel Co. How the bank was not suspicious of his activities (as I know the banks are very fussy and strict these days)?.
If the youth would want to get spoilt, they will, in one way or another. I feel, they need care, love and guided freedom (It doesn’t mean no internet!).
The parents, teachers, true friends and the society at large should get involved and do their part in ensuring the youth are safe from moral decay.
Salam Tun,
Ayahanda Tun,
UMNO can be equal to UM…..ckNO wen comes to personal politics…compliment from Tengku Razaleigh to Tun M….as reported by portal news Malaysian Insider…..

Salam buat Yg Bhg Tun..

GAP Dakwa Jabatan AS Biayai Yayasan Yang Pernah Diteraju Anwar
1. KUALA LUMPUR: The Government Accountability Project (GAP), organisasi pemberi maklumat bukan kerajaan Washington DC, mendedahkan Yayasan Masa Hadapan (FFF), organisasi yang pernah diterajui Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, telah dibiayai oleh Amerika Syarikat (AS).
– BERNAMA
News aka 1Melayu like this won’t work. The younger generations, non-anti-American people, PAS, MCA, Gerakan, PKR and DAP will not buy such news especially circulated by UMNO..
The comment By prof.wafi on July 19, 2010 2:48 PM, until now he is still relying on Tok Det’s teguran to prevent youngters to enjoy themselves in one of the popular domsetic social networking of ‘clubbing’….and he thinks clubbing might have contributed to ‘kes pembuangan bayi’….sigh..
Goodnight Ayahanda Tun.
Dear Tun,
Are you for or against press freedom? Robert Fisk may have criticized press freedom, but he must be thankful that his book is accessible to everyone – and not banned (like what certain countries would prefer to do to politically incorrect materials). It’s like a street protestor holding up a banner “Stop Freedom of Speech”. So much for non sequitur.
By the way, some people talk about blogs as if these concern only political matters – ergo, all bloggers have certain political motivation when they write their blogs. Well, that’s certainly not true. There are tons of blogs out there concerning business, fashion, tech reviews, creative display and most of all about personal life.
Anyway, thank you for the Internet freedom so far, Tun. We really appreciate it.
assalamualakum TUN

prosecuting to fullest extent of law is going to be practical yeah? most sites publishing abusive porn are foreign, thus not under malaysian law.
“pornographic or not, will end up being classified as porn”. this is an out right exaggeration. so, ur suggesting that, by censoring sexual materials, the authorities would censor something…political? m sure tht would definately happen yeah? even if it happens, ppl today are not stupid to accept it.
on freedom of speech and with porn. “You can say what you want but if you slander someone, you can be taken to court” so ur suggesting that, its not okay to publish a naked picture of smbdy without permission, but its okay otherwise.
Ayahanda Tun,
After reading The Independent’s recommendation for “The Age Of The Warrior by Robert Fisk, and many of us know better as many of these stories were narrated and directed in Hollywood film, eg: A Team (80’s US TV Series in Malaysia) recycled and re-direted in 2010 with 4 different attitude guys:- Hannibal, Face, BA (Black guy) and Murdock….
Because of different brought up enviroment, races and religions, contohnya, the straight forward and sincere comment By andrewtay on July 17, 2010 11:53 AM might invited a counter-debate By wajaperak on July 18, 2010 4:25 PM………
..The big boys always win….The saddest part it, after all the stone throwing, the whinging and the flag burning, when the big boys come to town, deep down we all want to be like them…Survival of the fittest, haven’t you guys learn that enough already?
And if both of these 2 Malaysians keep arguing, like BN’s TS Muyhiddin said today..by the end of the day…..nothing will be achieved lah, right???
Goodnight Ayahanda Tun!!!!
I don’t think censoring pornography, or indeed any other evils (e.g. cult movements, suicide pacts, hate-ism) will do us much good in the long run. The cat is out of the bag, so to speak. Although we have technologies to censor available to us, we also have technologies to circumvent the censorship available to us.
Good will always be one step behind, when it comes to technology. Censorship is a good political tool to show that we are doing something about the issue, but it generally does not work.
Perhaps the better problem to solve is to improve the foundations of our education “system”? Educate the parents who educate their kids; educate the teachers who educate the students.
We had banned selling cigarettes to underage kids ages ago. Yet we still see kids smoking. Teach everyone about the dangers of smoking, and over time, people will shun it. So much so that smoking has become unfashionable in the Western world.
well, internet can be used at evil things or the good things.it’s up to users to decide which way they want to go.
Tun,
Very smooth way of U-Turn. But it is a u-turn. After Tun start the ball rolling with the porno, Najib will implement total censorship on opposition leaning websites. What a game plan. What an UMNO style of flip flop.
Ayahanda Tun,
Well, the latest news…

Penang SDO hits out at CM Lim
By IAN MCINTYRE
1. GEORGE TOWN: State Development Officer (SDO) Nik Ali Nik Yunus caused a stir when he started criticising Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at a press conference on Monday.
2. Nik Ali, who was not scheduled to speak at the press conference on the sand-mining issue called by Penang Umno, claimed Lim had portrayed him as incompetent, useless, unprofessional and a coward.
3.
Good evening Ayahanda Tun,
Points must be taken into account for internet quarantee especially pornographic material to avoid unneccessary racial conflicts and politicking in democratic Federal Constitution with basic human rights as commented By Shawn Tan on July 19, 2010 1:16 PM…
Few good points should be considered:
1. If we allow censorship of porn, we are taking the first step down a slippery slope. If we are not careful, everything distasteful, pornographic or not, will end up being classified as porn.
2. He says that it is a slippery slope because we need to be careful about policing morality. While he will agree that child pornography is ‘evil’, even he will not suggest censoring it. Instead, he would suggest catching the people who engage in it and prosecuting these people to the fullest extent of the law.
3. There should not be any Internet censorship, even for things that we may find distasteful. However, if someone breaks the law, they should be taken to task. This is similar to the concept of ‘Freedom of Speech’. You can say what you want but if you slander someone, you can be taken to court.
The latest case happened in Singapore as reported by thestar online due to public complaints, and the Bristish writer was immediately arrested with warrant, sent to prison and will be trialed later according to Singapore Constitution..

Singapore arrests British writer for defamation (updated)
By ALEX KENNEDY
1. SINGAPORE (AP): Singaporean police said Monday they arrested a British author as part of a criminal defamation investigation related to his book on the city-state’s death penalty policy.
2. Alan Shadrake, 75, was in Singapore to promote the book and was arrested Sunday, police said in a statement.
3. He hosted an event the day before promoting “Once a Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock.”
4. Police said they arrested Shadrake based on a complaint by the government’s Media Development Authority and were investigating him for other offenses. They declined to give details.
5. The attorney-general’s office is also seeking contempt of court charges against Shadrake because statements in the book allegedly impugn the impartiality, integrity and independence of the judiciary, a spokeswoman said. She spoke anonymously in line with the attorney-general office policy.
6. The contempt of court charges will be heard by a judge at the country’s High Court on July 30.
7. Singapore’s leaders have sued journalists and political opponents several times in past years for alleged defamation.
8. Human rights groups including Amnesty International contend Singapore applies defamation laws selectively to silence criticism. The government says restrictions on speech and assembly are necessary to preserve economic prosperity and racial and religious harmony in the multiethnic city-state of 5 million people. It says any statement that damages the reputations of its leaders will hinder their ability to rule effectively.
9. Singapore applies capital punishment by hanging for offenses such as drug trafficking and unlawful use of a firearm.//
Take care Ayahanda Tun.
Assalammualaikum
Dearest Tun
The internet is definitely the best invention of all times. The end of history, the conclusion of this story of mankind beginning with Adam and Eve to the eventual evolution of the many races to become the one human race as donplaypuks and many of us have been dreaming will soon come true, I sincerely believe, with the help of the internet. But like any other human invention it’s not flawless.
While it can make your life perfect it can also be a source of your miseries because now you can easily be exposed to the ugly truth that would otherwise be hidden away in the past. And the pornographic materials that could easily be viewed by our curious kids and the consequences it begets. This is our dilemma as regards our kids, we can’t be checking on them until the wee hours of the night.
But Tun maybe the era of censorship is really behind us now, that mankind is also to enter a phase of self censorship where we are capable of deciding what we want or don’t want to see?And it is a discipline that must be trained while we are still kids. Yes Tun this is among the things you could contribute to the Nation which we parents would appreciate very much.To study what really is the way to go in the future-to train the discipline of self sensorship to children or to introduce complete sensorship- that the moment they got their hands on this otherwise elusive thing they become like orang hutan? Please make this your utmost intellectual jihad Tun.
Those ongoing big big things you want to do like criminalizing war,Liberate Palestinians etc. you must delegate to your son Mukhriz immediately, test his true leadership, international relations and whatever else you think is important for him. Mukhriz must take the advantage he’s got now to learn and develop himself and show his true mettle independent of DAD.Just because DAD is great doesn’t mean the son is just as great too.More often than not,it’s vice-versa if our two latest PM is taken into consideration.
Let me know how I can contribute in this jihad,as long as it is not money.Money susah sikit la because I have to save for more subsidy cuts gradually coming..that’s why I must be very stingy nowadays. If you need cash contribution you can seek Nazir’s help..alamak lupa pulak your own son Mokhzani also among richest Malay.. so money not an issue.
Jangan marah Tun nanti cepat tua.Love you.Take care.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Terima kasih.
i totally agreed with Tun..suasana sekarang agak membimbangkan..sedih kerana masih ada lagi kes2 pembuangan bayi..
Dear Tun,
I totally agree with Tun. Please stop the open/easy accessability to porno on the net. Please…..for the benefits of young Malaysian generation.
All politician (UMNO, Pas etc.)jgn sibuk bertengkar siang malam, takkan agenda akhlak dan moral pun Tun M nak kena tegur…..do something even it’s late by now….. oppsss lupa.. we can’t depend much on politician (i.e. MCA & PKR) since few are also amature porn stars on their own.
Dear Tun
It is heartening to see Tun’s commitment to blogging despite Tun’s hectic schedule.
I agree fully and completely with Tun’s comment on pornography. It is time we filter it out from the internet.

WALLAHU’ALAM
The mainstream media in Malaysia need no censoring as they censor themselves.
Its more like they will lose their license if they do not.
Interference with NT7 is famous among the Chinese.
Moral decay should not be allowed to be promoted, first ask our MP to practice good moral ethics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN3L1-cfCXw&feature=related
Censoring the internet to have good moral but corruption going left and right. There is no logic to your statement.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Internet censorship is impossible since the beginning. If they want it, they will get it. Filtering accessibility only can be done in a small scale network (eg:offices) by allowing access to certain network(IP) ~ not by blocking. This type of ‘allowing access’ does not required any extra software to buy/invest on.
‘File transfer’ is the most common medium used that are impossible to filter. ‘Blocked’ contents can be easily bypassed by using other servers or proxy servers.
Some popular methods of ‘file transfer’: IRC, e-mails, social groups/community/members mailing, torrents, secured/personal ftp, anonymous file servers, messenger/chat, forums (to get the links/password), etc.
Since everything is hackable, porn is a bad business (people can easily watch without paying & can get it somewhere on the net easily)
The only way to minimize immoral internet usage is to educate/encourage our our self/children/society to get more knowledge on useful materials. Encouraging to have the desire/anxiety to learn the latest technology/knowledge ~ making learning as a hobby ~ or addicted to learn more.
There are millions of white papers, thesis, syllabus, e-books, tutorials, documentaries, documented experiments, research papers, documented historical events and a lot more other educational materials for FREE (data on the internet are doubling every 11 hours).
..and of course, parents/teachers should lead by giving a good example ~ in learning new things and show how to learn new things. “keep asking our self/children/students how stuff works?” ~ share the knowledge.. explore & invent something useful for our own use or everybody.
I wrote an article last year.. [ http://digitalspine.blogspot.com/2009/10/internet-apa-yang-ibubapa-perlu-tahu.html ] (a simple article in bahasa pasar)
Sekian. 🙂
Sex related crimes has been a problem long before the internet.
Most offenders don’t even have internet access.
pornographic material can be gotten tepi jalan don’t need to go to internet.
Anyway parents can always use sofware to block porn site. I believe TM Net is offering this service. There are planty of freeware for parents to install too.
Internet porn has always been used a Red herring to censor the internet. China does it, Iran does it and it’s done insure their political power. From your writing looks like Malaysia is going to try the same BS thing again.
Next step have a discussion in Astro Awani then Bernama then start the brainwashing campaign. We have seen all this method before.
Salam Tun.
I think the ISPs (internet service providers) in Malaysia should really play a big part in censoring porno. Or else, they can create an option (to disallow access to all porn related sites) for the users when subscribing to the broadband service. And if this option is available, all the cybercafes should be made compulsory to accept this option.
I’m sure parents will be more than happy if this option is available.
Dear Tun,
Happy birthday and wishing you many more birthdays to come.
I am glad you wrote about this subject.
Well, I can report to you the guarantee is not being honoured any longer.
And I am not referring to pornographic materials which I agree should be filtered.
Anyway best regards.
Ataturk
Assalamualakum Tun & family,
Absolutely true Tun. Agreed 100 %.And I would also suggest that there should be a more strict control or better still, eliminate totally the excessive mystic and ghost stories and movies aired on RTM / TV3 / Astro.
Don’t u agree Tun?
Regards Tun, pls take good care of urself and Tun Hasmah.
Salam kasih Tun,
Perlukan suara…
assalamualaikum Tun…
may you be in the pinkest of health
from my opinion, filthy pornography is everywhere in the net.
It is somehow, something very hard to censor.
however, what about softporn in television?
Parents may discard and monitor the usage of internet for their kids, how can parents control the usage of television?
if they may lock the channels, there would still be inappropriate advertisement aired.
regards,
[email protected]
Dear Tun,
Filtering the internet will do no good to the existing moral problems. I remember in the 80’s or even the early 90’s that there were very rare sexual offences or other sexual related crime. One must first identify what is the main cause. Surely malaysians are still experiencing globalisation shock and will take some time for us to get used to it. There are virtually no way we could stop this effect of globalisation. We just have to live with it and hopefully one day sexual materials around us will just be forgotten and in turn promote healty living among us.
I really don’t think filtering the internet will improve anything but might make matters worse.
Thanks for the oppurtunity.
Dear Tun,
I have been in IT world for the pass 18-years, we do need to stop pron sites, but the problem is there is so many of it and new site coming up very fast.
ISP will be blocking wrong site if they started to use robots. Filtering IP will not work too.
While some method will reduce the spread of pron, there is no 100% bullet proof method.
recently Telekom started block torrent (peer-to-peer file sharing), the next day already hundred of pages/blogs explain how to setup proxy server and bypass Telekom blockage.
I will strongly suggest sex education in our school is far better then trying to hide from the children, they are much more smarter and then us and defiantly will not rest until they “feed-their-hunger”
Dearest Tun,
That is a slippery slope that you are suggesting – the censorship of pornographic material.
Firstly, studies have shown that there is no correlation between increased access to pornography and a rise in sex crimes. If anything, studies have shown a *drop* in sex crimes. Maybe it helps when people have other avenues to vent their pent-up sexual energies instead of resorting to violence on the streets.

I say that it is a slippery slope because we need to be careful about policing morality. While I will agree that child pornography is ‘evil’, even I will not suggest censoring it. Instead, I would suggest catching the people who engage in it and prosecuting these people to the fullest extent of the law.
That is where we need to be clear on things.
There should not be any Internet censorship, even for things that we may find distasteful. However, if someone breaks the law, they should be taken to task. This is similar to the concept of ‘Freedom of Speech’. You can say what you want but if you slander someone, you can be taken to court.
Otherwise, if we allow censorship of porn, we are taking the first step down a slippery slope. If we are not careful, everything distasteful, pornographic or not, will end up being classified as porn.
