MALAYSIA’S WORLD BANK LOANS

1. The accusation that I wrote to the World Bank asking for loans is baseless. But Malaysia had been borrowing project loans from the World Bank since 1958.

2. The last negotiations for the loans were made in 1997. These were for projects in:

a) Education sector USD 244 million

b) Social sector USD 60million

c) Technical sector USD100million

3. The currency crisis also began in 1997. Naturally the loans were not approved until 1999 when the crisis was over. The usual sequence is for application for a loan to be made, followed by negotiations. Approval would be given by the bank later.

4. The World Bank wanted Malaysia to request for loans to tide over the crisis like the other countries affected by currency trading. The loans would be conditional upon Malaysia following IMF advice on economic management. It is well-known that Malaysia refused to seek IMF or World Bank help because the so-called help would worsen the financial situation. Instead, in 1998 Malaysia imposed currency control which helped it to recover.

5. In June 1998 (before currency control and while Anwar was still Minister of Finance) a loan for USD 300 million was signed with the World Bank for;

a) Fund for Food Programme

b) Higher Education Loan Fund

c) Microcredit Programme

6. By 31st March 1999 a loan of USD 100 million was signed for Technical Assistance and for overcoming Y2K problems. However, this loan was stopped after drawing down USD 11.94 million.

7. Of the USD 244 million Education Project which was approved in March 1999, payment was ordered to be stopped after USD 216.7 million was drawn down.

8. Of the Social Sector loan of USD 60 million, approved in March 1999, only USD 600,000 was drawn down before it was stopped.

9. As the whole world knows Anwar was reported in the press and foreign magazines for implementing the IMF policy without the IMF loans. He raised interest rates, reduced the period for declaring loans non-performing from 6 months to 3 months, reduced budget allocation to ministries so as to achieve a budget surplus etc.

10. Although he did not oppose currency controls, his appointees as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bank Negara refused to implement the policy and resigned. Tan Sri Zeti was then appointed as Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia.

11. As stated above, Malaysia stopped the draw down on loans negotiated with the World Bank in 1997 and June 1998. This did not stop Malaysia from recovering from the crisis.

12. At no time did I write a letter or verbally request for loans from the World Bank. If Anwar can show evidence that I did, he should. Failing that he should swear on the Quran in a mosque that he knows what he says is true. I am prepared to swear that I never asked for loans from the World Bank.

  1. Dear Amin Tan,

Sorry for the misunderstanding earlier. I do agree that a leader should be free of any crime. However, if you have been following the case, it seems one sided. I have never heard of a trial ever being conducted in that manner. Anyways, that is all behind us now. He is officially acquitted. Your comment on western society caught my eye. Yes, western society today have their own problems. I think being abroad has opened my eyes that asian values and culture are no better either. We are at the opposite ends of extreme to one another. The beauty of globalisation today is the ability to judge and learn from different cultures. It is important to keep our traditional values but also keep an open mind to western values. I believe its important to try and see the good of both sides and adapt accordingly. I know our dear Tun has constantly fought against western society. But please bear in mind that there is much to learn from them as well.

  2. dear peoples that commenting on my post,
first of all i am not belong to any political parties.indeed.and the statement of amin tan that assume me as “wakil pembangkang” is not true.i am a normal rakyat that love to see some political changes and arguments that happened in this beloved country.in stead i gained a lot of extra knowledge that haven’t told in school by viewing comments in this blog. and as to let u know i am very proud with Tun which is for me very brilliant and bold person. he is even called as “Asian Tiger” along with lee kuan yew and suharto. without great ideas from Tun, i don’t think malaysia will be well develop like what we had right now. no offense, i am not a pembangkang or pro kerajaan person. i am a person that eager for extra knowledge.thanks for commenting anyway.. 🙂

  3. Salam,

Syabas Tun di atas segala pengorbanan demi mencapai matlamat utama. Perjuangan belum berakhir…

  4. Salam Tun.

    Singapura has officially announced:

    1. The economy contracting in the last 3 months of 2011.
GDP fell 4.9% from the July to Sept period. Manufacturing output plunged 21.7% quarter-on-quarter.
    2. Higher than expected inflation figures for November even as industrial productiont fell.
    3. Semua Menteri POTONG GAJI.

Remember 1998, vvip Bungaraya lounge at KLIA Sepang. Chok Tong refused to help Malaysia when badly in need.
Even President Habibie openly condemned Singapura as “a neighbour that IS NOT”.

Now Hsien Loong wants to meet PM Najib. I do hope PM Najib consult Dr. M especially if the main agenda is “ikan yu’s son to discuss on economic matters”.

Is it the beginning of the end? I dearly hope so!

  5. Salam Tun,

Izinkan saya mengucapkan setinggi2 tahniah kepada eanisazman.

    eanisazman,

Budak mentah bolehlah anda perbodohkan.

Kini anda ingin memainkan semula isu orang Melayu.

  7. YAB Tun,

    1. WHO will be the Republic presidential candidate from Iowa with lots of land grew with wheat?

    2. My guess is Mitt Romney.

    3. Why?

    4. He is born in Detroit, and also Warren Buffett is supporting his son to take over his empire that cater corns and wheat for Americans.

    5. Furthermore, USA president needs orang kaya to support them in terms of money and food to stabilize world economy via diplomacy and military funding.

    Good day, YAB Tun.

  8. Dear Wajaperak,

Yes, i was blessed with a good tertiary education. I am not however in Amin’s or Hanan’s league. I have not penned any books or patents. That being said, Mark Twain the Father of American Literature had something to say about education. He was not educated beyond elementary school. ‘I have never let my schooling interfere with my education’. A Learned-Man is not necessarily a Wise-man. A Wise-man need not be a Learned-Man. A Wise and Learned Man, well, that’s a helluva combination.

Per Amins comments on my close-mindedness. Perhaps he should converse directly with Parameswara2 on the efficacy of my Hadith and Quranic interpretation. I can tell you that Parameswara2 knows the Bible better than most Christians and found him to be an excellent debater. He certainly is the expert ,as far as, trying dissimulate Bible Authority. Jobi and I made quite a few entries on his site. I have not come closer to seeing the ‘Prophet’ as one who supersedes Jesus.

Peace Be With You In Jesus Name

Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. ~ Isaiah 48:16

  9. Tun,

Happy new year. 2011 was a bit of a tough year hope 2012 will be a better year for all of us in Malaysia.

  10. forME,

Pemahamam sebenar berkenaan aset, liabiliti & DEBT.

    WHY PERLU SAYA BERHUTANG ??

Biarlah mahkamah menentukan segala keputusan.

    Salam hormat YBgh Tun.

  12. Dear Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
    Salam Hormat 2012

One found one-self laughing at your little water carrier ‘kerching-kerching’ anecdote most apt for a true, un-Constitution Malay. Thank You.

One will do the next 16 chapters while the titles for chapter 22 and 60 have caught one’s attention.

A commoner becoming a PM and a king of Kedah treated like a commoner by the british rajah – what is so great about being conferred a ‘sir’? Bloody commoner of a sir, if one care to delf on it. But not with a Sukhoi 35 mindset, mind you.

Have a good day, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad

  13. tun,

  14. Dear Tun,

    According to the Star online

“Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said on Wednesday that he will tour the country to declare his innocence ahead of the verdict in a sodomy trial he says was cooked up to bar him from coming polls.”

The road show is illegal. It is meant to influence and arm twist the judge or the government to make a bias judgement in his favour. This is unfair to the other party namely the victim of sodomy. The government and the police should not allow such road show to take place. It is either a contempt of court or subjudice. Nobody is above the law.

  18. Dear Tun,

May I comment on Juks who said let us not judge by a person homosexuality but by his ability to govern when he commented on Sudin’s posting juksDecember 30, 2011 at 5:38 am | Permalink
“Dear Sudin, you have clearly made up your mind about the opposition or about Anwar. I am not on any side really. Why cant politics be about a leader who is capable of leading the country? Personally, I couldnt care less if he was a homosexual. I am of ethnic chinese and have lived in the UK for the last 6 years. We are coming to an age where it doesnt matter if you are gay or not. We are all humans and should be judged accordingly. I know by the Muslim law, it is illegal. I really do sit and wonder during times like these if there are in fact any Muslims out there who are scared of coming out of the closet. Homosexuality can be blamed on a number of factors due to upbringing, culture and so on. Some believe that we are born and made the way we are. My point is, where the U.S is concerned in terms of trying to legalize same sex marriage, I wouldnt be surprised to see a gay leader in future. Their sexual prefrence is irrelevant I believe. ”

    Dear Juks,
We are not talking about sexual preference, religion, culture and upbringing here. You totally missed the point. Sodomy is a crime equivalent to rape punishable by 20 years of imprisonment and caning. A person who sodomises is a criminal and should not be allowed to be our future Prime Minister. Morality and decency are important factors to be a Prime Minister. Nobody should commit crime and a Prime Minister should not hire the services of prostitutes or play anus of his employee.
Mr Juks should realise that Western society is experiencing moral decay, breaking down of marriage institution due to widespread sexual promiscuity and unwed mothers.

  20. politics, all about politics.. when we talk about money, there will be political agenda behind.

playing politic likes gambling, cheating, backstabbing..

who knows what is it behind world bank’s politics. who manage the bank, who rules the flow of the money.

we are cheated by them, they are laughing at us now. we have to pay them more to make them own porche, ferrari, lamborgini

what they have done, is followed by top level citizen of malaysia. same cheating to low level citizen of malaysia.

what happen in palestine ? iraq ? afghanistan ? somalia ? if u, top level person really have guts, drain your money and effort to develop those country ( if u truly have the feeling of muslim relationship with them )

how many so-called islamic state or country in our world ? how many so-called the leaders of islamic state/country in our world ? how many big house, big cars, big business they have ? all of them coward..

frightened to what we have not to..

  21. Assalamu Alaikum Tun,

  22. Dear Sudin, you have clearly made up your mind about the opposition or about Anwar. If you do believe that rule of law concerning our race and religion should be banished, than we shouldnt be enforced or judge based on religion. BUT instead looking at someone transparently if they are qualified to run a country. Also, based on the letter, we may never know what is the truth? Perhaps you are giving it the benefit of the doubt as you have clearly chosen a side. PLEASE be honest and tell me in terms of politics, that the current government is doing a great job. I am not convinced by the opposition either. PLUS, stop talking about anwar for a minute. The issue here was never about the anwar or his trial. We are all united through a cause. I dont care if he was white or black. Politics is about championing a cause regardless of everything else. SO, look past anwar and all that nonsense…If you disagree with what the opposition has been championing, then great. Support your cause if your heart tells you so. BUT please stop bashing PR. TBH, we read a million facts daily. I can find you 10 articles to debunk that letter you posted. I could also find you another 10 articles supporting that letter. I really dont know who to believe anymore. So, please before making such strong statements, if you are not in fact related to anyone in politics or the industry itself, take everything with a pinch of salt. We are entitled to our own opinions. YES, but reading a 100 diff articles on something does not make it right.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this. I do enjoy posting here very much Tun. It is nice to read lovely comments made by people who are all very much united through a cause and something we believe in. I couldnt care less about a leader`s legacy or all that political nonsense. Tun, you are to me the leader who took Malaysia to greatness and what it is today. That is my personal view and the impact you have left on me. Period. That will be my personal memory of you.

  23. Salam Tun.

    Hi alkindi82.

I’ll try to highlight some of the nonsense reported in that news posting.

    1. At the start of the crisis, our composite index (KLCI) was then 1200+ whilst the Singapura NST index was hovering at 2500+.
After Anwar demanded/requested Soros & gang to borrow share scripts from our banks (which was against Dr. M’s instruction and totally ignored by Anwar) then sell them so as to ensure the KLCI nosedived in a freefall, the KLCI went down to its lowest level 200+!!
The NST index remained steady around 2500.

Our financial controls helped to thwart Anwar’s intention of causing ruin to our economy (and later to fully blame Dr. M), and the KLCI rose steadily.

At today’s close the KLCI is 1506 which is 25% higher than just before those ‘malauns’ started their failed attempt to destroy Dr. M and to install Anwar the puppetier to lead us!
In contrast, the NST index remains almost the same after a 14-year period!!!

Being greatly dependent on financial services, Singapura’s economy was greatly drained off after Dr. M banned CLOB, and also due to the 2008/09 economic crisis where Temasek alone lost US180b!
The chances of Singapura going bust just like Lehman can easily become reality.

    2. How about the economies of Bangladesh or Cambodia or Vietnam or India or the Philippines? Their economic fundamentals must be very very strong that even the slightest whiff of the crisis breeze that blew like hurricane just next door never reach their soil?

Back then, South Korea was most stubborn on trade protectionism, newly appointed premier Thaksin wanted to emulate Malaysia’s vocal criticism of the West, Suharto annexed East Timor against the wishes of the West, and Malaysia’s Dr. Mahathir was on top of their hate list.
After several warnings by Soros went unheeded (Soros even threatened with the infamous “see what happened to Brazil” statement), the jews sent in the speculators and followed immediately by the IMF & World Bank.
    The rest were history.

Singapura has always been their favourite ‘pariah’ and thus she’s ‘untouchable’ to the financial crisis!

    3. The whole financial world acknowledged & saluted Dr M & Malaysia for the bravery and brilliant economic acumen for successfully handling the crisis, and here we see a supermoron trying hard to twist facts and writing half truths to tell (I’m not using the word ‘to convince’ because this report is just another Anwar ploy) THE WORLD otherwise!

That Anwar maniac must be paying bundles to produce the report, in similar manner he did to the doctor who reported that Saiful was never sodomised and then immediately left Malaysia, or that Munawir to leave for home to avoid the court hearings on his bosom being Anwar’s favourite.
(Sukma became a millionaire because he’s a ‘sotong’ among Anwar’s inner circle.)

Anwar should have followed ikan yu’s(kuanyew) footsteps and engage that Barry Wine to do the writings so that everyone will automatically understood the bad intention, instead of creating another dollar-hungry moron with this clumsy reporting and causing some heads to spin before realising & concluding “those are rubbish”!

There’s no ending when it comes to rebutting stupid comments written by a moron, Dr. Syed Alwi & that ‘braindrain perasan’ boy Andrew’glamor’Tay can attest to that.
    Fikirkanlah.

  24. Dear Tun,

May I refer to comment by Wajaperak,

    Dear Wajaperak,

When I said graduated from English Medium Universities, I meant we had the same upbringing, and the same wavelength in our thinking. Andrewtay and dtan were like me, but i was lucky to receive hidayah.

    amin tan

  25. MALAYSIA NEED NOT NEED OUTSIDE LOANS
    IT,S A WAY OUT.
BUT NOT THE RIGHT WAY OUT.

WE HAVE NATURAL RESOURCES TO PUT UP WITH OUR NEEDS.
WE FAIL MUCH OF OUR BARGAINS,
    LIKE SELLING WATER TO SINGAPORE.
    WE ARE NOT BEING COMMERCIAL
    WE ARE LIKE SANTA CLAUS.
    AND THIS IS STUPID
AND DON,T GIVE ME THAT STUPID REASONS,
AS BEING NICE TO OUR NEIGHBOUR.

WE CAN BORROW UNLESS WA ARE HIT BY BIG NATURAL RESOURCES THAT IS UNAVOIDABLE.
FOR US TO ORGANISE OURSELF BACK

    WHEN ANWAR SEEKS IMF LOAN,
IT SENDS INDICATIONS ANWAR IS UP TO NO GOOD PROBABLY TO PLY FOR HIS PERSONAL INTERESTS
IT,S LIKE SELLING MALAYSIA TO OUTSIDERS,
FOR HIS INTEREST AS MUCH NOW HE GAINS FROM HIS SUPPORTERS.
AND AS MUCH OF UNITED STATES INTEREST TO BACK ANWAR FOR U.S INTERESTS.

WILL HE SEEKS ALONG LOAN TO FEED HIS FAMILY
WHEN HE CAN STAND ON HIS FOOT.

    SO DID MALAYSIA
    WE HAVE RESOURSES
WE NEED TO PUT PRICE TAG TO IT.
NO SUCH THING AS BEING A NICE GUY

MALAYSIA NEED TO TIMPROVISE IT,S MILITARY
    THERE IS NO CERTAINTESS AHEAD
PEOPLE STILL GO TO WAR WITH ALL SORTS OF LAME EXCUSES.

    ARE WE PREPARED ?

FIRST WE NEED TO IMPROVIES MUCH OF THE GOVT SECTOR
TO CREATE REVENUE TO STRENGTHEN OUR GOVERMENT
UMNO GOVT SEEMS TO BE LIKE BEGGARS
INTEAD OF BEING AN AUTHORITY OF THE GOVERMENT

  26. Salam YBHg Tun,

Salam hormat Tun.

  27. SALAM KASIH DAN SAYANG
    AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN
    Izinkan,

But few people knew Ayahanda Tun ‘gave’ THE ABI the powers of the PM during his three months ‘medical leave’ and we thanked the Almighty Allah SWT that Ayahanda follow-up treatments were successful and returned home healthy and not in a coffin like two of his predecessors… and the reason why the ABI was given the powers was to avoid a power struggle as had occurred when the beloved Ayahanda of PM Najib died.

Whilst most of us in the mosques, the churches, the temples and in their homes were giving special prayers for the good health of our Ayahanda Rakyat, THE ABI was busy implementing the IMF (International Mother and Father) policies as mentioned above and that practically ‘LUMPUH’ the transportion industry… “bayangkan jika kami yang cukup tangan dan kaki tapi tidak upaya(lemah) untuk mengangkut barangan”..???

Satu Malaysia pun tahu hujah2 ‘ THE ABI’ hendak menurunkan harga minyak keesokan hari (jika PR memerintah) ketika PRU12 dan kami senyum kambing terkenangkan.. ‘bagi dia kuasa PM untuk 3 bulan nyaris dilumpuhnya industri pengangutan dan sekarang cakap macam kerusi Putrajaya dia yang ampunya dan sudah mula kelentong rakyat.. masyaallah ‘

May we refer toSdr. sudin December 26, 2011 at 10:29 pm post.
    Salam kasih sayang Sdr Sudin,
We believe few people outside the family knew Mak Yan unless close to Anwar and the family and after reading the ‘letter’ we smiled coz we would have written a very similar contents if we still ‘love’ him as the ‘pejuang kemiskinan’ we thought he was.. and not many outside the ‘circle’ knew Anwar was ‘absorbed’ into UMNO by design and ‘groomed’ to be the first ‘Khalifah’ of the modern era!

But alas, our ‘kasih’ towards him ‘sudah lebur jadi debu’ the day he told his aide.. “who is this man who wants to teach him who to run the country?”.. and it really hurt our feelings and our reply to his aide was, “although the President had announced that his deputy President will succeed him when he steps down, tell Anwar that ( I said) he will NEVER be the PM… dia bukan pemimpin yang ingin kami angkatkan sebagai ‘Khalifah’ moden Negara Islam tetapi seorang yang bersikap riak dan bongkak…” ( the message was conveyed 4 days after the Perhimpunan 1996)

Manusia merancang, Allah SWT yang Maha Pengasih dan Penyayang jua lah Yang Menentukan..

    ALFATIHAH, AMIN.
Ps. The Truth Hurts.. mohon ampun dan maaf ‘Saudara Anwar’ or ‘Pak Sheikh’ he was once fondly called.

  28. Dear Tun,

May I refer to comment by Wajaperak,

    Dear Wajaperak,

When I said we may be from English Medium Universities, I meant we may have same educational background and same wavelength in our thinking.

I find dtan think too highly of himself. He should read more deeply into islamic books and do plenty of reflection. He should not be narrow minded. I will be happy to engage anybody in the religious polemic, but let us not be confrontational but rather on a friendly basis.

    amin tan

  29. Dear Tun,

May I address on comment by Saudara Zulkiflee who said that I was hurt by dtan attacking my ancestor’s family name. Indeed, I thought it was unfair to resort to such tactic. However, I am grateful to both Zulkiflee and dtan , Zulkiflee for siding with me and dtan for giving me the opportunity to explain islam to non muslims even though some of them become offended and attack my Chinese origin. As Zulkiflee rightly pointed out, Chinese are sensible people, surely they should become muslims. I am happy to disclose that this year there was a sizable number of China Haj from China as compared to 1990 there was almost no Chinese Haj at all. On both occasions I performed the Haj Pilgrimage at the forbidden cities of Mekah and Madinah. Saudara Zulkiflee had rightly observed that if more Malaysian Chinese become Muslims surely the Malay Muslims would be a formidable race. Let me assure all Muslims that Islam is the greatest religion and never for a moment anyone should regret being a Muslim and that Prophet Mohammad is the best person to emulate or follow as an exemplary
muslim. Let us have faith in Islam until the Day of Judgement(yauma kiamah).

    amin tan

  31. salam Tun,

I would like to convey season greetings to all moderate Christians in Malaysia. May we continue to prosper in this blessed nation of ours and reject all forms of extremism whatsoever.
There are some extreme Christians going around the country trying to convert gullible and needy people and preying to exploit on their weaknesses and monetary needs.
These are all low handed tactics which will only attract low class people in their time of need.
Whereas so many educated and open minded people in the West are discovering the truth in Islam by their own accords and converting openly without persuasion or manipulation. Most of them first start their research on the internet and will convert once they are absolutely sure of Islam as the rightful religion.
Feel free to google the facts online.
So we can safely come to a conclusion that generally high quality people are coming into Islam and ignorant rebellious low quality desperados are coming into Christianity.
Why is this happening now? Because truth will eventually prevail no matter what.
When The Holy Quran challenged all mankind and angels to produce a book comparable to it was no empty boast from the AlMighty Creator.
Intricate mathematical equations and formulas make the Holy Quran impossible to imitate and not even a single letter or word can be taken out lest it upsets the equations.
Intrigued? Feel free to check the facts on your own accord. There is no compulsion in Islam and I am just stating the facts which many people with devious intentions are trying to keep secret.
“The Canadian Council on the Study of Religion reported in its QUARTERLY REVIEW of April 1983 that the code in the Holy Quran is “an authenticating proof of the divine origin of the Quran.”
Have a look how many times the
    following words
    appear In The Holy Quran:-
    * Solat (Prayer ) 5
    * Month 12
    * Day 365
    * sea 32
    * Land 13
    * Sea + land = 32 + 13 = 45
    * % sea = 32/45 x 100 = 71.11111111%
    * % land= 13/45 x 100 = 28.88888889%
Modern Science has only recently proven that the water
covers 71.111 % of the earth, while the land covers
    28.889 %. Is this a coincidence?
Who taught prophet Mohammad (PBUH) all this?
Allah, the All Mighty taught him this.
    As the Quran tells us:
(This is) a Book, the Verses whereof are perfected (in
every sphere of knowledge, etc.), and then explained
in detail from One (Allâh), Who is
All-Wise and Well-Acquainted (with all things).
    ‘(Quran 11:1)’
Quran has all the secrets of world and answer to every question is presenting Quran, but it just needs to research on it or to explore it. On exploration one can find the answer of each and every question.
There are so much more to discover! What’s the importance of the number 19? Why 19? Well mathematicians will immediately realise the significance! Go ahead and start your research now!
Da Vinci’s Code? Haha it can not even light a fire to the greatest miracle of all time!

    PAShit

  32. good morning.

    1. I do not understand why people of Malysia would like to migrate.
    2. Chinese Malaysia & Indian Malaysia have been treated well here. they are 1st class citizen. what they want some more?
    3. I have been living in a few countries due to work requirements ( a minimum of 6 months) and managed to feel the culture and the good and bad things of such countries.
    4. i concluded that, malaysia is the best in all round – education, living, weather, food, government, and so on.
    5. As a foreigner in other countries, you are not being treated fairly. you are a 2nd or 3rd or even 4th class citizen.
    6. i can remember some of the phrases that have been threw to me by the citizens of such country like ” this is my country, and if you dont like it, just go back back to your own country”, “fcuking foreigners”, “idiot asian” and alot more.
    7. a few friends of mine (Chinese) migrated but after 2 – 3 years, they came back and regretted on their decision of migrating.
    8. those people that migrated were due to business or making more money oppurtunities. they never migrate due to better human right, better education, better treatment and so on.
    9. so dont bullshit people and start slander the country that have treated you well.
    10. by the way (BTW). you are welcome to migrate because i know you will regretted on your decision big time. hahahahahaha

  33. Salaam Tun,

A Chinese man came from Ipoh and settle down in Singapore. He left behind his parent, grandparent and his siblings.
His son hope to be a fighter pilot in SAF. Will he bomb Ipoh if he is told to by his superior?
There are thousand of Malaysian Chinese in Singapore now, whose children are doing national service. Will they shoot their next of keen in Malaysia, if war brake out between the two countries.
There are more Chinese in the SAF than Malays but why the questions of Malay loyaty are the only one being question?

  34. Dear Tun,

  35. SALAM KASIH DAN SAYANG
    AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN
    Izinkan,
    HBT456 said,
    1. Allow me as Malaysian whom do not intend to migrate to other countries unless BN including PR keep creating the insecurity factors and their unappreciative attitude just because the people are not their members, to offer my piece of well-intended advice for them before the market moves quickly.

    Salam kasih sayang Adikku HBT,

Abg Samuraimelayu baru pulang ketanah air tercinta kita setelah seminggu dirantauan … ‘and had to be treated in a foreign land due to food poisoning’.

Though we concur with your goodself displeasure toward the ‘sickening’ attitutes of our politicians, it hurts our feelings when a rakyat who could see the bigger picture of Wawasan 2020 should ever have the thought (let alone intent) to migrate( abandon) this truly beautiful country of ours especially making the ‘ D.UM.B’ ( Deranged, Useless, Mental Blocked) politicians with the ‘A.B.I'( Aggravated Brain Injuries) trauma as the excuse ….
Come what may, good shall prevail over evil for the sake of our children of the future !

Let us all the grateful Rakyat pray and hope that PM Najib ‘practises what he preaches’ and not to out do his predecessor i.e. do the FLIP, the FLOP and the FLOM… and the deep and dark end of Putrajaya Lakes shall awaits the BN…
    nauzubillah

    ALFATIHAH, AMIN.
Ps. Adikku HBT, please don’t ever say ‘Goodbye’ to our beloved Ayahanda Rakyat Tun Dr. Mahathir and Bonda Tun Siti Hasmah. Please take good care and our salam kasih sayang tahun baru 2012 to you and your loving family and also to our beloved Ayahanda Rakyat and family and not forgetting all the Anakanda Rakyat of Chedet.cc and their loving families.
May Allah SWT Bless Us All, Always.. Amin

  36. Assalamualaikum..wrt

Israil mangsa kezaliman Palestin? Amerika membela rakyat Iraq dari kezaliman Saddam? tentera bersekutu membebaskan rakyat Libya dari kekejaman Gaddhafi? membebaskan Mesir dari penganiayaan Mubarak? pengebom nekat=pengganas. Bush-Blair superhero? Jesus Christ penyelamat?

    terimakasih Tun

  38. Salam Tun.

I’ve been receiving several e-mails with this letter attached, and all had made similar request that the letter be distributed for all others to know and understand the real saudara Anwar.

I’m asking for Tun’s permission to allow this letter be published in this blog.
I’ll copy and paste the letter for the benefit of other readers.

“Saudara Anwar, Once I had high regards for you and the aspirations that you propagate which seemed to shine like a beacon for the brighter future of the country, race and religion.

“That was the time when you were revered and placed on a pedestal for all to admire and emulate. Alas, you chucked all our hopes aside for your own selfishness and quest for power. Now, you are just like the rest of the corrupt and maniacal politicians whose only aim is to wield more power and use it to your advantage.

“I’m very disillusioned at having reached this stage after years of adoring you – the wrongly-thought gift God has given Malaysia to lead and protect its people. Perhaps, because of what you have done (and capable of doing in future), He has taken it all way from you. To me, your time is up as far as politics is concerned as you have shown in many ways that you cannot be trusted, that you are a liar, a coward and a traitor to the nation and Malaysians.

“I did not come to this conclusion on the days when Dr Mahathir announced your sacking and expulsion as DPM and Umno deputy president although Dr Mahathir, I noticed, seemed sincere when he said you were no longer suitable to be a leader because of your low morals. My perception and judgement are based on you yourself.

“Let me state the facts of my case. These feelings I have penned down are not only mine, but are also of the thousands of people – from taxi drivers to your kampung folks – I happened to meet after the tragedy that befell you. Your actions and statements thereon showed your hypocritical self. Saudara, you have resorted to telling lies after lies after your sacking. You are a desperate man and it is understandably so after you have lost your fight to stop yourself from being tried in court, despite the demonstrations and the unrest that you have created.

“I know you think you are a smart politician – playing on the people’s minds with your brand of politics of diversion. Every day after the date you were sacked as DPM and from Umno, I was at your house without fail to hear about what you have to say to defend yourself. I was among the hundreds who huddled in the corners oblivious of anyone else to witness my idol tell his side of the story. I was at your roadshows too. But why did you have to speak at length on the reformation and the injustice the Government had committed by sacking you, or why initiate the people to take the law into their own hands.

“You also spoke of the conspiracy by certain people to oust you. BUT you treated very lightly the core issues and questions on the minds of almost everybody in and outside Malaysia – the sexual charges against you. Did you or did you not commit all these despicable acts? The police have been following and recording your immoral activities since 1993. So what conspiracy are you talking about? You thought you would be able to make it to PM and then, you would be invincible but you can only propose, it is God who disposes.

“You never answered this with a stern and committed NO. You would touch on this subjects in passing like they were not important to you when in fact, these are the questions you need to answer. Is it not serious enough for you to explain, qualify and justify the fact that you had been alleged to have sodomised several men, had sex with prostitutes and transvestites, and also, your very close relations with Nalla, whose known as a pimp in the VIP circle.

“You tried to seduce someone’s wife and when asked at the Umno Supreme Council, you resorted to lies to defend yourself and said that you did not ask her to spread her legs for you. What is the matter with your Islamic self now, is it not a sin for you to even suggest that she goes out on a date with you, especially when you told her not to tell her husband of your telephone calls.

“You, the Islamic leader of the region, refused to address the sexual allegations against you. Instead, in your fiery speeches, you keep digressing to reformasi, the corrupt government and the so-called conspiracy. Something must be truly wrong if you keep trying to avoid talking about the sexual allegations which would lessen the doubts of people like me.

“In the years of knowing you, I noticed that not once have you allowed anyone to get the better of you. You must have the last say but in defending the sexual allegations against you, your near silence said it all – that you are guilty and you know this. But to admit would be too much of a risk on your political career. To you, political power is everything! In hardly a week, you have digressed and swayed the attention of the little band of men who support you – from what was actually the claim of sexual improprieties against you and your corrupted practices to a fight for reformation and justice. Justice for what – for Anwar Ibrahim at the expense of the country’s harmony and peace-loving Malaysians? I don’t think Malaysians will allow this.

“Even Time magazine, which is anti-government or very pro you, cannot change what the people think of you. In its current poll, 93.34% of the 76, 622 respondents believed you were guilty of the charges against you while 6.29% thought you were innocent while 0.35% said they did not know.

“It looks like you friends in Time are already prejudging you as they too know that they cannot change the opinion of the masses that you are guilty – even after they tried slanting their articles in your favour. Now the world knows that you are like a caged rat, trying every second to squeeze through the smallest hole despite knowing that there is no escape.

“The country’s development was built upon the strengths of Prime Ministers Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Abdul Razak, Tun Hussein Onn and Dr Mahathir Mohamad. They have strived very hard for Malaysia to be what it is today. They are not perfect though, they make mistakes but at the end of the day, their hearts are for the people.

“On the contrary, you are not interested in the prosperity, harmony and peace enjoyed in this country. If you have a problem, you should wait for the general elections to voice your dissatisfaction. Instead, you thrive on the chaos you created with your supporters in KL and some states to show that you have support. I have been to these demonstrations where your supporters taunt the policemen and even beat up their fellow supporters when they got into a violent frenzy. Is this the Malaysia you want? One which is built on the ashes of disputes and bloody baths like those which happened in Indonesia?

“I am sorry to say that Malaysians will not allow these acts for we do not want to pass on to my children and their children a chaotic and unlivable Malaysia. For your selfish end, you may want to forget 1969 but most Malaysians do not want a repeat of that. Saudara, you are not infallible. You are just another human being and liable to make mistakes and commit sinful acts like those before you.

“You have been denying all these sexual allegations but you have never sounded convincing. You may try to deny about yourself not being corrupt. You talk about reformasi or corruption in the government or the justice that you seek but why is it that you cannot defend your cases of sodomy and other sexual improprieties in the same manner.

“I can never understand is why you chose to be so close to Nalla – the well known pimp for the VIPs and worse, he comes from Magnum, a gambling company which should be taboo to your Islamic image and well-being. Because of Nalla’s track record and his company, shouldn’t you stay as far away as possible from him.

“How can you call yourself an Islamic leader when you associate yourself with someone whose morale is lower than a snake’s belly. I also cannot understand what you see in Nalla and why you try hard to defend him. I believe you can always find a tennis friend besides Nalla, one who can give you more credibility. But you chose Nalla, and out the window goes your credibility. Tell us why Nalla is so special? Why didn’t you play tennis (if tennis is what you played with Nalla) with your ABIM friends?

“You told your children that you had sworn in a Batu Pahat mosque that you did not commit these sexual acts but no one saw the swearing and thus, it was not convincing. You have been smart in politics but surprisingly, you seem or pretend to be naïve about the best way for you to free yourself of these sexual allegations.

“All you need to do then was to take that Quranic oath in front of some people or ulamaks and if possible, videotaped it for distribution throughout the country. I think every Malaysian, especially the Muslims, would have believed that you had not committed what your are accused of.

“It would be better if you, Azmin and Shamsidar (Azmin’s wife) all swear upon the Quran in a mosque in front of Harun Din. How’s that for a religiously accepted PR exercise? This is the best solution. The Malays, muslims and even the non-muslims will then believe you but no…..all of you did not do this, why? It is strange when I think, as a learned man and with the backing of the think tanks around you, you would have the sense to do this simple act of swearing but you did not.

“If you had done this earlier, all Muslims would have believed but why didn’t you? Instead, you said outside a mosque once “saya bersumpah” (I swear) without referring to anything or any allegation against yourself. Ibrahim Ali challenged you to swear upon the Quran and your reply – instead of “I accept the challenge as I am innocent” – was “who is Ibrahim Ali to tell me to do such a thing (swear upon the Quran)”. It is too late now, you would have had my support had you done as I mentioned which is simple and would have been thought of by the most smallest of PR consultancies.

“Thus far, you have only spoken of reformasi or corruption or about anything else except of your sexual allegations. You try hard to avoid such questions to distract the people’s attention. In fact, you have orchestrated events until they have reached a stage where everyone has forgotten about Anwar’s sex acts and are now talking about reformasi and taking over the government. You may think that your “politics of diversion” is good but Malaysians know better, please do no underestimate their intelligence.

“We often wondered why you were always in a hurry to jump to other topics and would not mention the sexual allegations extensively. Instead, you keep harping on conspiracy of the highest level by the police, AG’s chambers and the judiciary, all these to avoid answering the charges against you Anwar- the liar and coward My teacher once said that “If you want to do anything, be the best in it.’’ My teacher would have admired you, Anwar, for you are one of the greatest liars on earth. You lie through your teeth and like my friends, I have learnt to take your words with a barrel of salt.

“During the Umno assembly when Pemuda Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi brought up the issue of nepotism and cronyism in the Government, he was lambasted by all members and Dr Mahathir. When that happened, your cronies went around to clarify that Anwar Ibrahim did no have a hand in Zahid’s speech and that Zahid acted on his own. But when you were sacked from the Government and party, you said that it was you who had told Zahid to bring up the issue. This showed your hypocrisy. You did not even want to save Zahid, now he is in a quandry after everybody knows that he had brought up the nepotism and cronyism issues upon your directive.

“You also said that you would never think of challenging Dr Mahathir for the presidency post and likened him to a father. But after your sacking, you said that Dr Mahathir was afraid of you as you would challenge him in the Umno elections next year. What kind of talk is this?

“You said you gave your blood for the DNA but you did not, and when this lie was discovered by the Press when they interviewed you, you just refused to elaborate. You seem to talk only about things you want to so that you can distract the attention of the people and sway their minds to where you want them to go. You seem to be quite good at this but you played on the same card ever so often that people have begun to doubt your sincerity.

“You criticised the Media, saying that they were biased but I guess they were no different from the time when you challenged Tun Ghafar Baba and used all kinds of unscrupulous tactics, including the local newspapers and television, to oust him. You planned your move through lies. Soon after your sacking, you spoke about the police wanting to arrest you but when the police did not, you took to the streets to taunt the police to arrest you.

“They did not arrest you but you wanted so much to be arrested under the ISA. Then when you were arrested under the ISA for leading your supporters who broke several things at the Putra World Trade Centre and inciting them to burn the PM’s house, of course you said, “I told you” to the miserable looking lot you call your supporters.

“You knew you might have the HIV virus because of your butt-punching activities. So, as a contingency plan, you said the police wanted to inject you with the HIV virus. This will facilitate you well. If you are found to be HIV positive, he will say that you had been injected, and then you will tell your supporters “I told you”.

“Then you created the demonstrations so that you would not be brought to court for fear that all your sexual secrets would be revealed. So you told your supporters to demand your release so that your sexual acts will remain secrets. You failed and are now in court but you already have a contingency plan.

“You told everyone that the country’s legal system would not give you a fair trial so that if you are found guilty, you would fall back on his statement. In fact, the foreign press and your strongest supporters are already giving the impression that our courts are biased. They are building up this case for you so that when you are found guilty, they will say “I told you so” too.

“Smart! Now you are thinking of plan B, which is to resort to more violence if the court case is not going in your favour or if you know you will be convicted.

“When you led demonstrators along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, you had the cheek to leave your supporters, wife and children, and rode a motorcycle back to your house as you feared “the demonstration was getting out of hand”. Is this the mark of a true Islamic leader, abandoning your cause, supporters, wife and children. What cowardice.

“Even when you wanted to oust Tun Ghafar , you showed your cowardice by getting almost the whole Cabinet to stand behind you before you announced your fight against Tun Ghafar. You needed everyone around you so that you would feel secure instead of fighting your cause yourself.

“Anwar- the destroyer of peace You only think of saving yourself. You created chaos which affected businesses and damage the image of the country. The bad publicity is causing doubts among foreign investors and this is affecting Malaysia and Malaysians – from businessmen to the common folks. You don’t care. You only claim you care for the people. But the truth is that you care only for your selfish self ! They have to face unemployment, loss of livelihood and earnings, and a period of fear and uncertainty because of your doings.

“Come Apec, you will again initiate pockets of demonstrations but this time, you plan so that they are scattered throughout the country to show to foreign journalists that this so-called dissent of the people is a nationwide phenomena. You are just sick and deranged.

“If you are stripped of your “religious image”, you are nobody but a womaniser and homo. You will be just like Ustaz Ashaari (or Abuya ) of Arqam who was once revered of his Islamic knowledge but behind that Islamic face is SATAN in hiding.

“You claimed that the Government is corrupt but it is the same Government you were in before. If it is corrupt then, why didn’t you overhaul it. You had 16 years to do it. It is a very long time.

“Don’t blame the PM for not doing what you are supposed to do. As a muslim leader, you have the right to fight and act against the wrongdoers, even if you have to do it alone even if it means sacrificing on your part, including your high position. But you did not because you are the one who is corrupt.

“You said you have substantial evidence which you stashed everywhere in and outside the country to prove your innocence and you would come up with it. That was three months ago and Malaysians are still waiting.

“Anwar the guilty Saudara, why is it that you never took legal action Ummi, Azizan and those who you called conspirators for defaming you and writing all sorts of sexual allegations about you. You should not say that PM told you not to do so as you, the great leader, would have done it yourself as I have said earlier, it is your nature to win every battle. But you did not even dare to bring them to court, for everything would then come out in the open. Why didn’t you clear your name in court if you have done no wrong? You just fear the truth.

“Malaysians can’t accept your homosexuality and womanising ways and worse, Malaysians cannot accept the way you projected yourself as a great muslim leader at the same time.
If the allegations are false, why did you stop giving Friday sermons and lead prayers (become an Imam) as you have done in Cerok Tok Kun, Seberang Jaya and other mosques. Is that not admitting your guilt?

“It is hard for you to admit that you are gay and of low moral. Malaysia, especially Malays, cannot accept a gay leader. But God is great. If you lie, you will get your fair punishment which is happening now. You spoke of fighting for the rights of the rural folks, the fishermen and the farmers in your Permatang Pauh declaration but you were supposed to do it when you were in the government when you had the power and the resources.

“Anyway, you only say this when you are down and out. When you were wearing your RM17,000 suit and your Italian handmade shoes, did you identify yourself with the common folks?

“You want to harp on the conspiracy theory in court so that you will be looked upon as being victimised and that everyone will focus on conspiracy. But the court case showed otherwise. It showed that you are capable of lying to the PM and all Malaysians when you told the SB director to force Ummi and Azizan to retract their allegations against you. How can you resort to this when you could have sought the legal channel?
Saudara, you should at least be grateful for God has given you 16 years of your life to be among the VIPs of Malaysia and the world.

“Be grateful to the PM too for he has taken you under his wing to give you the best guidance ever. If not for the PM, I believe you would still be in slippers and buttoned-up-to-the-neck shirt as the supervisor of Yayasan Anda.

“To me, Dr Mahathir has a heart of gold. He gave you chances you could only dream of. You thought PM would not sack you as you know he loves you as a son. You thought he would perhaps advised you to stop your homosexuality ways. But you are wrong.

“Still, PM gave you three chances for you to leave. He gave a 5.30pm last deadline for you to resign but even then, he waited until 7pm plus before he issued your letter of expulsion. PM was diplomatic when he only said the sacking was because you were not suitable due to your low morale. But you were different, you attacked him with a vengeance only found in the uncivilised. Anwar – non performer .

“Saudara, you are an eloquent orator. You are like Sukarno. At least, Sukarno was honest. He told the world he loved women. But Anwar is a liar. I will always be immersed in your oratorical ways but that is about all about you worth mentioning.

“In your 16 years in the government, there is no marked development you have made. In the Agriculture Ministry, you have not done anything. That is why 16 years later, you have to include the plight of the farmers and fishermen in your Permatang Pauh Declaration. If you had done your job well, there is no need for such a declaration.

“In the Education Ministry, you did not do anything except perhaps to promote your brother as headmaster. As economic ministry, it was so obvious that you do not know anything. So much so that Malaysians had to live with high interest rates and policies which adversely affected the economy. We were lucky when the situation changed from your IMF-styled policies and we have to thank Dr Mahathir for that.

“In your speeches, I noticed, you often quoted almost every philosopher that I’m confident now that you do not have a mind of your own as you only lead your life only according to what they say.

“There is also a case in Permatang Pauh some time back about a mother who was seeking donations to raise her sickly and paralysed son. She called TV3 to tell her plight but you stopped the story from appearing as it would tarnish your image as MP there. You did not even offer her help. For that, you have received a part of God’s rage.

“Anwar – the desperado You even use your innocent children to get publicity. What kind of a father are you? I can’t understand how you and your wife could have sent your teenage daughter to see Estrada of all people. If both of you needed someone to fight your cause, spare your daughter from the dirty task.

“Estrada is a womaniser, drunk and an arse&%$@, and could have raped your daughter. But you, an Islamic leader, allowed your daughter to be in contact with this filthy person the person who had this to say of Clinton’s sex scandal : “Clinton got the scandals and I get the sex.” Na’uzubillah himin zaaalik.

“I do not know what lies you have told your wife but you must have picked up your convincing act from Estrada’s acting points.

“You beat her up once when she confided in someone about your trysts with Shamsidar. Is it not true? And once, you touched Shamsidar while she was in your kitchen and your wife saw it. Didn’t Mak Yan warn Shamsidar then not to come to your house again?

“Saudara, you can lie all you want but in in the end, I believe that all this is about power. I want you to remember that you can never be PM if God has willed so. I also believe that it is best that you admit that you are a homo, a womaniser, a corrupt and deranged person, after all, you are only human. Farewell, Anwar. Whatever shred of confidence we Malaysians have in you is now gone.”

  39. Salam Tun,

I wish to expand on HBT’s remark a little bit:-

    5. The more BN and PR presidents want to control the sovereign power of Malaysia to extend their power, they will fail to attract world business centers, regional hubs and tourism sales and revenue for the Federal Government.

    1. Given that the world economy is in jeopardy, there is ample opportunity for us to wake up to the huge void created by failed economic systems. The Vision 2020, conceived well before the turn of the economy, is then also with the right timing, fortunately.

    2. Politics in Malaysia is a dismay. But without poitical backing, no economoy can thrive. Politicians know this, and thrive on it. They enjoy blocking success and progress, “saje nak ajar dia orang”. This is the attitude that has lead us to slowdown and is still leading us backwards. So the business community need to relook at their own philosophy. Should they still rely on political contacts ?

    3. The courts are useless too, it is too much hassle and too expensive, making it an alternative only when all else fail. Your call many years ago Tun for a “small claims court” is probably forgotten entirely. Therefore lower level disputes are either settled by bomohs or remain unsettled, adding to the PHD.

    4. I am okay Tun, i can still make online systems for the bomohs to cater for remote users seeking their services. I can make it secure so that confidential information is kept safe to attract people in. I can also work with POS Malaysia to help the bomohs deliver the “goods” to their clients. If POS Malaysia can deliver medication realiably, they can deliver bomoh products just as easily. What i’m saying is, domestic business is fine.

    5. HBT’s statement appplies when we think global, and nowdays it is rather ignorant to *not* think global. Bomoh services might not do that well globally as the rest of the world do not believe and subscribe to the “ghaib” philosophy, like some well known people here. But there are very many goods and services we Malaysia can offer the world. It is therefore a sheer waste and shame if the world hesitates doing business with us simply because we allow political idiosyncrasies or religious fanatism to rule.

    6. Of religious fanatism is easy, just give them a new toy. But of political idiosyncrasies, i do hope Anwar can do something. Otherwise, there will be so much political noise, Malaysia will be left well behind all other ASEAN coutries.

    7. We lack a leader who can silence the political landscape. Maybe Najib can, but i concur with HBT, he should not be spending too much time with the people, because i do not trust his cabinet to be able to carry out what we people really want. The attempt at registering IT Professionals is one good example.

    8. Attempting to register IT Professionals is sheer waste of time and energy, when the IT world is evolving faster than we can say “Assalamualaikum”. I wonder why there is no attempt to registers bomohs and ustazs as what they do have perhaps the same if not more effect than IT Professionals ?

    9. To the business community, i urge those in the position to decide for themselves, please move away from political support if you already can, and support local talents, support the effort to produce more local talents. Because politicians are producing more local garbage. They do not lead, they follow the people.

    10. I want to see a leader lead with sound reasoning, and not follow emotional appeals of the people. “A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do ” says John Wayne. From which party he comes from i don’t care, but he must be in the postion to tell UMNO, MCA, MIC and all other components to not be unfairly racist. Be racist, by all means, as we are all born of a certain ethnic origin, but if it goes to the point of blindness, there is a price to pay for it. Those clear sighted amongs us can already see the price or products of this “sin” or mistake. May “orang-orang UMNO” learn their lesson soon.

    Thank You Tun

  40. Dear Tun,

Dont quarrel over this matter. Whatever it is, you have been a good prime minister and have served your time.

Let the bygone be bygone and look forward.

    Merry Christmas

  41. Salam Tun.

This Anwar maniac is a proven perpetual liar. But the most surprising thing is, how in the world did he manage to con all of his followers all of the time, especially the non-Malay followers who claimed to have much superior intelligence than us Bumis!

No doubt money can do the talking for him (no thanks to the RMbillions that he presented to his cronies & to himself during his 5-year reign as MOF), but that applies mainly to the street thugs & the high institution kids who will do anything for him when each of them is given RM250.

No one in this world can fool all of the people all of the time, but this allround SUPERMANiac can fool so many intelligent non-Bumis all of the time!
Or maybe that they realised that Anwar supermaniac IS their saviour to rescue them from the clutches of the most dictatorial Najib-led government imaginable, just like Tun’s dictatorial reign! (That ‘braindrain perasan’ boy called Andy’the glamour’Tay can swear to that).
Or maybe they hope to finish off the Bumis economically when Anwar is given the chance to helm the country.

Never before in the history of political conflict was so much bluff/crap bestowed upon (and accepted) to so many ingrates by just a single sex maniac!
Never before in the history of human corruption was so much gobbled up in so short a time by just 2 comical characters, namely a maniac called Anwar & a kurang _jar (KJ) kid.
    -Churchill rephrased.

  42. Salam YAB & diKasihi Tun,

    Terima kasih Tun.

*** Semoga Allah SWT melindungi Tun sekeluarga. ***

  45. Assalamualaikum Tun.

Saya tak ucap lagi selamat ulang tahun kelahiran kerana saya tak berapa minat dengan itu.

Tapi saya belum beritahu Tun bahawa saya memang berhajat benar nak jumpa ‘rakan sparring’.Namun tak menduga langsung ianya datang dari Malaysia.Perdana Menteri terbaik Malaysia.

Maka begitulah profile saya sedemikian rupa.

Selamat ulang tahun kelahiran ke 86 Tun.

    Terima kasih Tun.

  46. Assalamualaikum Tun

Happy Belated Birthday. May Allah bless with longevity and good health, physically and mentally.

Why after so long Anwar suddenly brought up this issue? Answer is simple….recent survey shows that our beloved Tun is still very popular so he and his gang are trying to discredit you all over again.

Anwar is not a sick man. He is EVIL, he is a freemason and follower of DAJJAL… period.

    Nicotine Replacement Therapy!

Nicotine replacement (SAFE Nicotine) is available in a number of forms, many not requiring a prescription
(Well, cigarettes don’t require a doctor’s order) that you can use to relieve and remove the physical craving for tobacco products (nicotine).

One of their most successful marketing techniques (ploys) is placing a little doubt in the minds of people, both professional and otherwise about the safety of NRT.

Doubting the safety of Nicotine Patches has kept lots of people smoking and has kept many physicians from recommending them.
Their campaign to keep people smoking, along with chemical efforts to make nicotine MORE addictive worked just fine, thank-you very much! The actual amount of nicotine per cigarette is higher than ever!!

Here’s what we recommend for our patients:
Use as much NRT as you need to not have cravings, crabbiness, anxiety or any of the other classic symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Use it long enough to let your nicotine receptors go back to doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Saladin is impressed by the gentleness and wisdom of Nathan, and impulsively asks what religion seems to him the truest and best. In answer, Nathan relates a story:

“Once upon a time there was a man who possessed a precious ring. Whoever wore the ring was endowed with the magic power to win the love of God and man. When the owner of the ring died, he left it to his favorite son; and when the son died, he left it in turn to his favorite son.” Finally the ring descended to the father of the three sons, all equally dear, and he was troubled to decide which should have it. He decided to have made two more rings, so exactly like the first that he was unable to distinguish among them, and gave one to each son. But the sons fought among themselves, each claiming to have the original–exactly, Nathan points out, as the Jews, the Mohammedans and the Christians are wrangling about their three faiths.

I have written them out of hardship but Tun moderator thinks it fit not to publish them..

    So..

Asks Tun moderator the answer..Ask them..because in my opinion they are guilty too in this article of Tun Malaysia’s World Bank..

  50. Salam Tun,

    Source: http://wargamarhaen.blogspot.com/2011/12/97-98-malaysian-economic-crisis-mess-of.html

The 97-98 Malaysian economic crisis: A mess of Mahathir’s making
The 97-98 Malaysian economic crisis: A mess of Mahathir’s makingMahathir Mohamed has been in the news recently denying that he took loans from the World Bank. He also offered to swear, unsolicited, on the Quran that he had done no such thing.
Presented with documentary evidence that Malaysia had taken a multiple of loans from the World Bank, Mahathir responded that he had not personally asked for the loans. He did not however, say he was unaware of the loans.
As Prime Minister of Malaysia for 22 years, Mahathir would like to be accountable only for those actions which he had ‘personally’ done. Clearly, Mahathir has a different understanding of the word ‘Accountability’ than the rest of the world. Although it may very well explain the culture of irresponsibility that so afflicts Malaysia’s ruling Barisan Nasional today.
Mahathir is also a consistent dealer in untruths which he appears to hope ceaseless repetition will transform into ‘truths’. He may very well convince the uninformed, but only them. Take for example this statement that was published in the Malaysian Insider on December 20 quoting him :
“It is well known that Malaysia refused to seek IMF or World Bank help because the so-called help would worsen the financial situation. Instead, in 1998 Malaysia imposed currency control which helped it to recover”.
Both these sentences are untrue. Mahathir, in fact, refused to seek the IMF’s help because they would never agree to helping to save the inefficient and insolvent companies of his friends in the corporate world.
Nor did the currency controls help Malaysia to recover any better than its neighbours. Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea and the Phillipines accepted IMF funds and they recovered as well, if not better, than Malaysia.

But IMF did not prescribe austerity
In the same article Mahathir appeared to accuse the IMF of practicing ‘austerity’ measures in countries that they assisted. This is patently untrue as all the four countries mentioned were undertaking expansionary macroeconomic policies in 1998 under the direction of the IMF!
Mahathir, though, protected by currency controls, managed to bail out his friends and his son. The loss to Malaysia was that these companies were bailed out with taxpayer funds. It also allowed Mahathir to avoid real reform, for which lack, we are paying with a lacklustre, uncompetitive economy today, among other things.
The NST meanwhile, decided to help Mahathir out of his predicament of being caught in a blatant lie by publishing excerpts from his book, ‘Doctor in the House’. The first part, published on the 23rd of December, exposes both Mahathir’s ignorance and his follies. At one point, he appears disappointed with Anwar for not prevailing on Michel Camdessus, the then head of the IMF, to stop currency trading. Why Mahathir thought Camdessus had the power to do any such thing is unclear.
The IMF was created in Bretton Woods to provide loans to countries that had balance-of-payments difficulties. It could also ensure that nations in deficit pursued contractionary policies by using its ability to extend loans as a stick.
At no time was it envisaged that the IMF would, or could, act as some kind of international financial policeman which would crack down on errant (in Mahathir’s jaundiced view) currency traders. Other than being bewildered by Mahathir’s perplexing request, neither Chirac nor Blair could have done anything about it.
    The Daim factor
This leads us to Mahathir’s remarkable statement in his book that “It seemed that despite the soundness of our economy and finances, the ringgit might still come under attack”. Mahathir is not only lying here, but he must very well know at this point, that he is lying. Neither the Malaysian economy nor its finances was sound when the currency crisis hit the country in ‘97/’98.
Malaysia had several serious weaknesses at the time, including inadequacy of foreign reserves, performance deterioration of the financial sector, deterioration of the real exchange rate and, as an aside, a credit-funded stock and real-estate bubble.
Malaysia’s foreign reserves stood at 28 billion in 1997 and had been at about that number since 1993. This despite the fact that mobile capital in the country had increased from 6 billion to 50 billion from 1990 to 1997. In addition Mahathir was, in megalomaniacal fashion, encouraging, even directing, Malaysian companies to invest in projects in third-world countries, thus further draining Malaysia’s reserves.
For the clever reader who wishes to point out that Anwar Ibrahim was the Finance Minister at the time, we must note that Anwar (and Bank Negara) had since 1995, warned Mahathir of the dangers to the economy of his policies, to no avail. Their position papers were ignored by Mahathir. He preferred the self-serving advice of his credit-hungry cronies.
Chief among them of course was Daim Zainuddin, a poisonous gnome of a man, whose flagship Renung was one of the companies badly affected by the crisis. Daim would later be accused of being the key person behind the farcical and fantastical plot that Mahathir would make use of to sack Anwar.
    Bad policies, low reserves
The fact that Malaysia’s foreign reserves were low are critical because that is the means with which countries defend their currencies. Buy ringgit and it will appreciate against the dollar. It did not work because the reserves were inadequate and because the speculators could see the weaknesses in Malaysia’s economy. Mahathir, 14 years later, claims he still can’t! When Malaysia’s reserves dropped to 15 billion, Bank Negara had to stop intervening in the currency markets.
The unhealthy state of Malaysia’s financial sector also contributed to the situation by effectively tying BNM’s hands. Raising the domestic interest rate would have helped the ringgit appreciate against the dollar. However this couldn’t be done because Malaysian companies, and individuals, had high levels of domestic debt. It had risen from 85% in 1989 to 160% of GDP in 1997.
Raising the interest rate would have caused further bankruptcies and unemployment. Bank Negara’s attempts to rein this credit growth in earlier were blocked by the powerful business circle around Mahathir who wanted the cheap credit to continue flowing; unmindful, and uncaring, of the danger to the country.
The real exchange rate is the rate at which domestic goods can be exchanged for foreign goods and in 1997 it indicated that Malaysia’s ringgit was overvalued against the dollar. Unlike Mahathir, the currency traders had done their analysis quite correctly.
    Currencies of sound economies unaffected
Mahathir of course, refuses to admit his mistakes, even now, when it is plain to the most casual of examiners. He continues to blame everyone else and demonizes, to suit his political needs, the IMF and the World Bank. It is most unfair, of course, as the IMF did a sterling job of helping the economies of, among others, Hungary, Ukraine and Iceland during the subprime financial crisis in 2008.
Today, the IMF is playing a key role in Europe by functioning as a lender of last resort in proxy for the ECB which cannot legally do so. Not, one supposes, that they are concerned with Mahathir’s rabid views and too often lunatic opinions.
George Soros, who ran a fund which engaged in currency trading, came in for particular attack from Mahathir. Mahathir accused Soros of forcing the pound to be devalued in 1992. It was, and Soros was involved in it. But the pound was not devalued because of currency speculators.
The pound had to be devalued because the Bank of England did not wish to pursue a contractionary policy in the midst of high employment even though that was what it needed to do to stay within the European Monetary System (EMS).
The Bundesbank meanwhile was more interested in fighting inflation and refused to pursue an inflationary policy as it needed to. The cause of the problem was the reunification of Germany and the huge cost of rebuilding East Germany, not currency traders.
Contrary to Mahathir’s contention that ‘rogue’ currency speculators could devalue for profit the currencies of sound economies; Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong proved immune to speculative attack in 1997/’98. That, if it helps at all to educate Mahathir, is because their economies actually were sound. Quite unlike the vulnerable mess that Mahathir had turned the Malaysia economy into in 1997!

  51. Dear Tun, wishing you a belated (official) happy birthday as this is also my “first encounter” here.

I believe you have explained all that in a clear enough way and need not go into a big way to “suit” all the unnecessary hoo-ha. Just don’t argue with ignoramuses for they will drag you down to their level and, beat you with experience.
The crucial timing now is you must endeavour to help the present administration in Malaysia by rendering your vast and invaluable experience. In fact, what we rakyat need now is sheer encouragement because we have had enough or perhaps too much, of derangement lately. Naturally, some positive psyches to the equilibrium are needed badly. We will all be grateful then by watching closely how and with what wisdom a fatherly statesman can build into the psyche of this beloved nation .
A better place for all the peoples of Malaysia ? Oh YES !
I am convinced that all living lives’ earnest hope is to live for betterment irrespective of whatsoever conditions even if one is in such a “dilapidated”, despairing living environment.

  52. Dear Amin,

Thank-you for your extended hand. Merry CHRISTmas to all.
    Mohon Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Peace Be With You In Jesus Name

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    ~ Isaiah 9:6

  53. YAB Tun,

    1. Perdana Menteri DS Najib replacing Tun Pak Lah should not waste time in meeting rakyat.

    2. Perdana Menteri must make an imperial decision now and call for GE13 to get his full mandate to work as The Head of The Government to deal uncertainty of financial shifts and mother nature crisis.

    3. In Malaysia, “Perdana Menteri” elected by the people in PRU must get Royal Appointment by the current Head of the State, iaitu Yang Dipertuan Agong and his Royal Assistant agreed and appointed by 8 Sultans of the states to represent them in Malaysia under Keluhuran Perlembagaan dan Kedaualatn Undang-undang.

    3. Officially, in Malaysia, Yang Dipertuan Agong adalah Islam; Melayu adalah Yang Dipertuan Agong.

    4. No political parties can claim their Islam and Melayu are holier and more special than the Yang Dipertuan Agong Malaysia.

    5. Siapakah yang telah melanggarkan Keluhuran Perlembagaan dan Kedualatan Undang-undang di bawah Rukun Negara, they will be charged without fear and favor to develop the country prosperously and in harmony.

    Goodbye, YAB Tun.

  54. YAB Tun,

    1. Allow me as Malaysian whom do not intend to migrate to other countries unless BN including PR keep creating the insecurity factors and their unappreciative attitude just because the people are not their members, to offer my piece of well-intended advice for them before the market moves quickly.

    2. If political parties waste too much time in politicking for parties’ positions, bothBN and PR will be perceived as weak and “tak sedar diri” parties that cannot represent the people.

    3. Malaysia is heading the developed county status today as announced by PM Najib by Wawasan 2020 as scheduled.

    4. With or without BN and PR, Malaysia will progress further under GLCs, property developers, Multi-International Corporations, MNCs and entrepreneurs with good developed capitalism system that can contribute tax revenue for the government to improve the lifestyle of the people.

    5. The more BN and PR presidents want to control the sovereign power of Malaysia to extend their power, they will fail to attract world business centers, regional hubs and tourism sales and revenue for the Federal Government.

    6. Finally, when both BN and PR presidents keep creating the scenario of political power struggling GE after GE, one day, no members will be left there to develop their parties.

    Good day, YAB Tun.

  55. Dear Tun,

May I explain some misconception by dtan regarding islam.

    Dear dtan, you said

“It is amazing how Muslims feel they can do no wrong, keep finding proponents to defend them. Keep dishing it out, if it makes you sleep better, that’s all i can say.”

Just as Bible, Muslims are guided by the Holy Quran to be revealed to humanity through Prophet Mohammad. Please do not belittle the great religion of Islam without reading and understanding the message in the Holy Book. Quran forbids killing, cruelty, cheating, stealing, racism and allow and protect the practice of other religion like Christianity and Judaism among the Muslims if they do no harm to the Muslim community. But once they become the 5th column of Muslim’s enemy, so to speak or spies for the enemies of the Muslims, then their presence is not tenable. It is no good to insult islam by saying “muslims feel they can do no wrong”. This kind of words can only be uttered by those who are ignorant of the message in the Holy Quran. The muslims say ‘jahil’.

Allow me to share one aspect of Islam to promote personal hygiene. wudud or ablution. Prior to a Muslim prayer, it is compulsory to take wudud or wash oneself. The washing of the externalities or extremities is hygienic. One has to thoroughly wash both hands, gurgle the month, wash the face, clean or wash the nostrils by water by way of sucking the water through the nose half way and blowing out again, repeating at least 3 times. Nostrils are the main filters of our lung. Muslims do these 5 times a day meaning one does not have to dig the nose by fingers in public. During wudud too, both feet are washed with water thoroughly. This will ensure the feet or shoes would not smell.
The same thing goes for washing after urinating and defecating.
Islam only teaches Muslims good things, positive things. Undoubtedly, I find islam to be a very good puritanical religion suitable for a Chinese character who wants to have a clean and healthy life dunia and hereafter. Islam forbids gambling, consuming intoxicating drink, prostitution, promiscuity and ah long. Wallahu alam.

    amin tan

  56. Salam Tun, Happy Belated Birthday,
    1. please help us to find ways to charge anwar for being a traitor, as a US and Israel’s mole, criminal, trouble-maker, antisocial person, etc
    2. please help us to break the spells on anwar’s and pakatan rakyat’s followers…help them see the truths, to use akal rather than nafsu…I know, its tough because IBLIS is with him..
    3. please show us how to win in PRU13, what should we do? For example, I have some great ideas on how to win support, but, so far the people in charge in UMNO did not want my help. I do not have the power to allow me to use and implement my ideas. I do not want anything in return, but I’m like begging to help..
    4. maybe some of us are not familiar with Lokman Adam, once anwar’s right-hand man who became insaf after getting to know the real anwar. I supposed we can get the actual stories bout anwar and the jews, his strategies in creating havoc for Malaysia – read Lokman’s articles.

  57. Salam
Tuan Guru Dr Mahathir Yg Di Rahmati ALLAH,

    1. Lagi anwar nak burukkan TGDrM yang beriman, semakin terdedah dan semakin buruk lah anwar.

    2. Begitu juga lagi anwar nak burukkan pemimpin UMNO/BN semakin terburuklah anwar.

    3. anwar,,, anwar semakin buruklah kamu

    4. Ya Allah swt, peliharalah semua orang yg diburukkan oleh anwar..Amin

  58. Take Loans From China & Russia, or Lend-Lease

    above sophistication beyond monetary conception,
Material Technology Progresses beyond the grasp of Price.

MobilePhone for example. MobilePhone is not gold brick, its prices goes down as material technology progresses.

Russia have built Portable Nuclear Power Plant, Malaysia can borrow it to Powered our Manufacturing, and give our our products to Russia as payment for lending us their Portable Nuclear Power Plant.

We pay Russia for their SU-30MKM Fighter Jets also with Palm Oil. We can Certainly Pay Russia for Portable Nuclear Power Plant with Proton Exora, Persona, Campro Engine.

We can repay loans from China with our high Quality food and medicine.

Expand ourselves beyond monetary perception and into Material Technological Progress.

  59. Dear Tun,

May I wish all our Christian friends, stan, dtan, Andrew Tay and others merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this joyous occasion bring about better understanding and greater degree of tolerance among us. Let us agree to disagree. No need to insult one another and let us avoid personal attack, especially attacking family ancestors and surname. Let us be civil and better still friends. Life is short and let it be sweet to everyone.

I can see that we are all independent, matured, well educated and most likely graduates from English medium universities. I apologize if my writing has hurt anybody. I only meant good. Cheers!!!

    amin tan

    Sekian, tq
    Sekian,

  61. Assalamualaikum Ybhg Tun,
Wishing you a happy birthday (86 yrs), good health and long life, insyaallah.
Why after a long time since 1997 DSAI raised up this issue (world Bank Loan & IMF). It is clearly indicated that DSAI “sudah bankrap politikal idea la tu” to go against Tun and UMNO/BN in the nearby general election – 13. Syukur alhamdulillah Tun still in good health (physical and mental) gifted by Allah SWT. at the age of 86, and still very active contributing ideas for the development of the country. DSAI and his political counterparts (Pas & DAP) definitely will not be happy with your movement in politics (UMNO/BN) being a former Prime Minister, officially recognized by Malaysia and other parts of the world as an excellent leader. Your involvement in politics may strongly distorted the opposition parties movement to gain power in the nearby general election – 13. Your “AURA” still extremely at high level to the majority people of Malaysia. In the year 1997 – 1999, majority people knew that DSAI being a Financial Minister/Deputy Prime Minister failed to solve the Malaysian economic problems (due to global financial crisis). In fact if we look back the overall history of DSAI when he was in the Cabinet of UMNO/BN, he did not contributed much to the development of the country. DSAI was brought in into UMNO/BN by Tun Dr. Mahathir, who then latter groomed him to be a good potential leader in future especially for UMNO/BN.

  62. Assalammualaikum Tun,
    Nak menjawab Juks,
Memang bunyinya kasar perkataan pengkhianat tetapi memang betul dia pangkhianat.

  63. YAB Tun,

Mass boycott of UN ‘silence’ for North Korea’s Kim

The United States, Japan, South Korea and leading European nations on Thursday boycotted a minute of silence at the UN General Assembly demanded by North Korea for its late leader Kim Jong Il. — PHOTO: AP

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) – The United States, Japan, South Korea and leading European nations on Thursday boycotted a minute of silence at the UN General Assembly demanded by North Korea for its late leader Kim Jong Il.

The UN tribute was the highest profile international move sought yet by the North’s government as it seeks global recognition for the hardline leader who died on Saturday at the age of 69.

The awkward silence was a ‘protocol’ move following a North Korean request, according to UN General Assembly president Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser.

Many diplomats from countries which took part in the protest called the tribute ‘inappropriate.’ They said the UN Security Council turned down North Korea’s demand for a gesture to the late strongman.

North Korea’s UN ambassador Sin Son Ho and another diplomat from the North Korean mission stood with their heads bowed during the silence but barely a third of the General Assembly’s 193 members were present.

Britain, France, Germany and most members of the 27-nation European Union joined the protest.

‘It is my sad duty to pay tribute to the memory of the late Kim Jong Il,’ said Mr Nasser at the start of the assembly session.

He listed Kim’s official titles – head of the ruling Workers Party, head of the military commission and supreme commander of the North’s military – before calling on the North’s ambassador ‘to convey condolences to the government and the people’ of North Korea.

Mr Nasser called on all envoys ‘to stand and observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the late leader’.

While Kim’s isolated country has been whipped into mass grief, many foreign nations have sought to avoid officially offering condolences.

‘This is a man who is responsible for probably tens of thousands of deaths.

He is not a model for the UN,’ said one European diplomat, explaining the boycott.

‘It is an embarrassment that we will have to put up with,’ commented on Asian diplomat. All diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of relations with North Korea.

The only official book of condolences for Kim in North America is at the country’s UN mission in New York.

A huge wall of white chrysanthemums has been set up around a portrait of the so-called ‘Dear Leader’.

Every person who goes to sign the book is filmed by a North Korean diplomat. Some diplomats and journalists from nations which do not have relations with the North said they would not go because they feared the images would be used for propaganda purposes.

UN Deputy Secretary General Asha-Rose Migiro signed the book for the ‘UN system”, said UN spokesman Martin Nesirky.

The United States, Japan, South Korea and most European nations have not signed the book. Most Asian nations which do have relations with Pyongyang have sent their ambassador or deputy ambassador to sign however.

  64. YAB Tun,

Singapore firms see potential in North Korea
But many are waiting for clearer picture of situation to emerge

Singaporean Quek Chek Lan, 67, blazed the trail when he set up North Korea’s first fast-food restaurant in the capital Pyongyang in May 2009, and has expanded his business rapidly since.

He now owns three fast-food restaurants – called Samtaesong or ‘three big stars’ in Korean, and which sell hamburgers, french fries and waffles – as well as six convenience kiosks, a cold room for food storage, and a food-processing plant.

But for now, Mr Quek is shelving his expansion plans until a clearer picture of the North’s new leadership emerges, following the death of ‘Dear Leader’ Kim Jong Il last Saturday at age 69.

    BACKGROUND STORY

    RISK AND REWARD

‘It can be quite lucrative, given the first-mover advantage, but it depends on one’s risk appetite.’

Mr Tan Fuh Gih, 58, who is looking to invest in North Korea. He owned a subsidiary chartering North Korea oil rigs to China for 11 years until he sold the business in 2006.

Mr Kim’s youngest son Jong Un is poised to take over, but there are reports of a potential power struggle, and not much is known about the Swiss-educated successor’s inclination towards business.

Said Mr Quek, who has also been trading metal and minerals with the North for over 25 years: ‘I’m sure the North Koreans have made plans to ensure a smooth transition. But I want to wait and see if the son will be friendly to businesses.’

Several Singaporean businessmen are also adopting a wait-and-see approach, but told The Straits Times that they are not writing off the communist North yet. They believe that new opportunities lie ahead amid the leadership change, and that the new leader could be more pro-business than his late father.

Mr Tan Fuh Gih, 58, director of investment firm Kim Seng Holdings, is looking out for investment opportunities in the North, particularly in its oil and gas sectors. He owned a subsidiary chartering North Korean oil rigs to China for 11 years until he sold the business in 2006.

Despite challenges, such as inconsistent government policies and the frequent security risks triggered by the nuclear-armed ‘hermit kingdom’, Mr Tan said foreign investors are sought-after by the North Koreans, especially for sectors that need skills and overseas contacts: ‘It can be quite lucrative, given the first-mover advantage, but it depends on one’s risk appetite.’

Mr Douglas Foo, boss of the Sakae Sushi chain, said he believes it will be ‘business as usual’, and he might step up talks with his North Korean business partners on plans to take his sushi outlets there and bring North Korean cuisine to Singapore.

Singaporean Geoffrey See, who founded Choson Exchange, a Singapore-registered non-profit organisation focused on economic policy, business and legal training in North Korea, is hoping that more North Koreans will be able to visit Singapore on exchange programmes.

Analysts say opportunities could also arise for Singapore on the whole if the younger Kim, who is in his late 20s, decides to open up the country to more trade and economic development.

East Asian Institute assistant director Lye Liang Fook, who believes this could be a possible scenario, said: ‘It is the only sustainable way to prop up the regime, instead of relying on foreign aid.’

If it does, the North could look to tap on Singapore’s expertise in building industrial parks overseas, added Mr Lye.

Other factors cited in favour of Singapore are its pro-business reputation and the long-running diplomatic ties with North Korea, since 1975. But Singapore remains the only Asean country without an envoy accredited to Pyongyang, with ties conducted through the Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry and the North Korean embassy in Beach Road.

The latest figures on bilateral trade show it amounted to $126.4 million in the 10 months of 2008, compared with $83.7 million in 2007.

Singapore’s key exports include paper articles, special fabrics products and aluminium, while it imports mostly cuttlefish, machine parts and electronic valves.

It is still early days to talk about opportunities, as Mr Lye put it. ‘We don’t know whether Kim Jong Un will last. If he does, he will also have to send a strong message about economic reforms to attract investors,’ he said.

Will our GLCs be interested in to explore for new market in North Korea too?

    Good day, YAB Tun.

  65. The whole world knows that Anwar is the person stupid enough to listen to IMF and World Bank purportedly to save Malaysia from the 1997-1998 financial crisis. No matter how he twists the story now, he will not be able to rid himself of the stigma of having imposed stringent financial resrictions on loans, high interest rates suffocating every business and drying up liquidity without even having had the benefit of any assistance from IMF and World Bank and at a time when Malaysians were already suffering due to attacks from rogue currency traders.

  66. Selamat menyambut Hari Lahir Tun. I believe in you Tun, so do not waste your time explaining about the past, because everyone knows what had been going on.

  67. To macpeed….. you stupeed !
Thai automotive industry are almost dead la!
    Boloh punya olang…..

  68. A very very Happy Birthday Tun,
I wish my children will benefit from your contributions as I did when you are my PM, till now.
To your Lovely wife, Thank You for taking care of my Tun.
    Stay healthy Tun.

  69. dtan,

” They don’t speak their native tongue”,apabila sesuatu pendatang itu pergi ke negara asing mereka meninggalkan budaya mereka seperti Cina di Indonesia, tetapi di Thailand pemimpin Siam melakukan paksaan dgn menubuhkan Phibul Songram utk menghapuskan sekolah Cina dan akhbar serta cengkaman ekonomi oleh Orang Putih dan orang Cina.Saya rasa kamu orang Cina di Malaysia patut bersyukur kerana orang Melayu membenarkan kamu mengamalkan budaya serta adat Cina di sini.

“dress like an Ultra Muslim,” ok, saya rasa kamu maksudkan itu pakaian jubah seperti orang arab sehingga menampakkan seorang terrosist?

“curse their culture (family) and try to act more Muslim then Native Malay Muslims”
Is that happen to your family? I Think the one who cursing is their own family kerana mereka menganggap anak mereka memasuki Melayu. Kamu tahu mengenai seorang Cina Muslim bernama Prof.Ridhuan Tee?

  70. Salam Tun and all,

I actually convinced since the crisis happened, it has been well known that you stopped the IMF intervention. I was in Malaysia when its happened freshly coming back from England. But I felt disgruntled by your action during that year where you stripped Anwar from all his post. I just couldn’t believe such a person who talked and appear religious could do that disgusting ‘thing’. Well, I continue to observe since then until now.

While he is busy trying to go against you, the UMNO, the BN and its entire aspiration; I started to wonder why suddenly there is so many bad things about UMNO which was not there when he was the runner up. Would it be by coincidence?

I know UMNO is not perfect, high chances there will be someone indulging in money politics, taking advantage from position held, etc. but why now when he is no longer there? is he afraid? I don’t see that he is afraid of anyone right now. why don’t he talk bravely about corruption in UMNO when he had all the chance before he was dismissed due to such an embarrassing allegations.

If I listen to his rumors, there is also something about him. But one things I cannot deny is his actual face in some embarrassing exposure by his best buddy. The court decided that it is 99% chance that it is him based on video evidence.

While I learned more about him, I started to be convinced that he has lied a lot. The more I started to find something about Tun next, the more I learned about his contribution, his steadfastness, and good intention. It turns out that I cannot easily judged the book by its cover.

Conclusion is, I can listened to what Anwar got to say, especially about you Tun, truth is I stop believe in him long time already…

  71. Tun, first of all it sickens me to read comments bashing and taking sides constantly. I am not sure if you do read any of these comments, but it is filled with hatred and anger towards both sides. This is not about UMNO vs pakatan or mahathir vs anwar. Why cant we all just stick to the main issue? Why bring in words and quotes like Allah this and sumpah that…At the end of the day, I believe that you took our country out of the financial crisis, and thats all that matters. You have cleared up your point and provided full transparency regarding the IMF loans. DONE! Lets move on. To all fellow readers, please keep this space civilised. I know we are all entitled to our opinions but please do not stray away from the problems that we are facing. I really do not care who is in power as long as the country remains properous for all and is stable with all races living in harmony. Please keep your personal feelings aside.
Thank you for taking the time to read.

  73. Salaam Tun,

You make me proud to be a Muslim and a Malay (Other than Nabi Muhammad and my father).

May Allah bless you and family always.

I pray and doa that Malaysia will never ever fall to a kafirun leader and whatever upheaveal a Muslim country is going through, Allah S W will always protect Muslims, insyaallah.

Following is an article of how frustrated Singaporeans have become with the govt.

The article was written by Singaporean chinese( dont worry abt Singapore Malays, they are survivors).

You can find more such articles in the website THE ONLINE CITIZEN & TREMERITUS……

You guys were once my heroes. When I was young, I was so proud that I had a government that was indeed one of the world’s best, if not, THE BEST. Although LKY was (and still is) portrayed as a fearsome, if ruthless leader, he was much respected. When he appeared as our PM on the world stage, my heart never failed to swell with pride because it was obvious that he was also someone other world leaders respected.
But not now. The problem is, you are victims of your own success. And the world has changed, yet you remain stuck in the 1960s. This is why your once-fantastic branding is being eroded, why I find it hard to support you like before.
    1) You were too successful
First, there was LKY and he was a great leader. He was like a god and still being treated like one. He “miraculously” transformed a small, poor, resource-less little island into a country that now has one of the highest GDPs in the world, where other countries are now trying to learn from. No one can take that achievement away from the first PAP team and indeed, I would guess that this is also the main reason why many in the older generation are still your loyal fans. I may not agree to all the strategies you’ve used then (and some were downright questionable) but I can’t deny that you had some very good reasons to do so. But unfortunately, when you’ve set the standard of governance so high, every other subsequent PAP team that comes along can only look worse and worse. And it doesn’t help that you constantly try too hard to be perfect. The higher the bar is set, the more difficult it is for the PAP teams that come after to match it. In a way, I think LKY only does his own team a great disservice by publishing so many personal memoirs, recounting again and again how good he was. Because the more god-like he is, the more voters like me will wonder, how can we ever have another “god” like him to lead us? And the answers you propose will always be a disappointment. Because, against a god, everyone will look like a mere mortal. Didn’t anyone tell you that you can’t replicate a god using your same old cookie-cutter?!! Great leaders are first of all rebels, don’t you know (and LKY was one too!)?
    2) You were too smart for your own good
No one can or has been able to rival you in terms of your (mostly) rational and well-thought through, sound policies. Especially in terms of our economic policies. You’re so darn good with your cost-benefit analyses, your economic forecasts, your financial planning. Every policy you rolled out is justified using very rational arguments that the opposition and the public find hard to counter argue. You are top-notch, because you have a very brainy team, all with impeccable qualifications from world renowned universities. Unfortunately, this made you assume that only you have the brains and everyone else is just an idiot who needs only to listen and obey. The game of politics cannot be played by cold logic alone. And it certainly can’t be won by treating your voters as morons.
An example of this would be the issue of bringing in the IRs. Yes, your cold, rational argument makes very good economic reasons for having casinos in Singapore. No one can argue against that. But not everything can or should be measured by dollars and cents or by the amount of GDP it will generate for Sg. We’re no longer the generation in the 1960s that constantly had to worry about money or material matters. We’ve moved up the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In fact, most Singaporeans work ridiculously long hours, are constantly too stressed to even go on dates or have sex (hence the low marriage and fertility rate) that we’re all very very disillusioned with the constant drive for wealth. Increasingly, we want to slow down, have time to smell the flowers and be with our families. And having casinos that will bring in more crime (organised ones too), encourage more addictive behaviour and increase broken families will not sit well with a population who now values quality of life rather than personal wealth. Yet, you bull-dosed these concerns and won yet again with your cold, rational, economic arguments because there wasn’t enough opposition in the parliament to stop you.
While people may buy into the cold logic of your policies now, your lack of empathy and human touch are slowly alienating voters. The breaking point may not be now, but you can be sure that the disconnection is getting wider by the day. It’s a time-bomb that will go off at some point.
    3) You forgot evolutionary laws, history and your own past
While you’re very brainy, you’re mostly all technocrats and specialists. You’ve scorned the social sciences and the humanities, you think these are only for sissy people whose A Levels don’t qualify them for specialist degrees. Yet, if you had been more well-informed in these areas, you might have learnt some valuable lessons about power. History, for example, is the best teacher that could have taught you that power never ever ever ever lasts forever. Indeed, the more you try to hang on to it, the more it will invite adversity. History would also have taught you that every regime was once in opposition. As Marx could have told you, the history of mankind is all about class (or power) struggles. You may be in power now, but one day you’ll be overthrown. However, you have hope of leaving your great legacy behind if you take a leaf from the pages of human evolution, which would taught you that it’s human diversity that has helped the human race to overcome the odds, to survive this long. But instead of embracing diversity, you tried your hardest to kill off any form of alternative views, whether these come from within your party or externally. You only wanted to hear your own voice or voices that are exactly the same as yours. This inbreeding will eventually be your demise. Most of all, you forgot your own roots, where you were once an opposition party too. You focused so much on hanging on to your power, you forgot your original vision, you forgot your voters and you forgot why you are governing Singapore.
    4) Power breeds fear and paranoia
In the beginning, you used power in order to stabilise the political situation so that you can give the masses homes, food, clean water and their livelihoods. That seemed a justifiable use of power even though it involved some ruthless and ugly tactics. But over the years, you started to crave power for itself. Again, you forgot the story of Macbeth (see, I told you the humanities are important!!) – where an originally good leader was so obsessed with his new power that he saw everything as a threat towards it. He became so paranoid that he even killed his best friend whom he thought was after his throne. He only heard what he wanted to hear from dubious soothsayers (which turned out to be half-truths). Needless to say, Macbeth eventually had a tragic end. Like Macbeth, you’ve become so obsessed with winning overwhelmingly in every GE that you use every weapon you have, every trick up your sleeves to clobber the opposition to smithereens. Smear campaigns, legal suits, changing electoral boundaries, raising the cost of candidature, forming GRCs, threatening the electorate with upgrading…it’s like watching the Brazilian football team beat the Singapore team by 82-2, except in football the rules are fairer and the referee neutral. Why do you need to resort to such gangster-like ways? You could have won overwhelmingly anyway with all the talent you have! I’m not sure how long this bullying strategy can go on but sooner or later you’ll become the thug that the electorate can’t wait to get rid of.
    5) Power corrupts absolutely
Power is not power without money. And in this aspect you’ve outdone yourselves by pegging your salaries to the private sector. You’re the highest paid politicians in the world and your income is >40 times that of the median income of the general population (only less than Kenya). Of course, you justify it with yet another one of your cold, rational arguments of attracting and retaining the best talents in the government. But seriously, how can you compare public sector salaries to the private sector? In fact, many of your candidates have never worked in the private sector before and one wonders if they’ll survive even for a day in a private company. Yet, they are paid private sector salaries, paid not from profits but from taxpayers’ money. And though I fully agree that politicians must be paid their worth, don’t you think getting 40x the median income is crossing into the lines of corruption? Ok, even if all our Ministers and PM are worth every cent of their $4m annual salary, it also means that they have to perform much much much better than any other government in the world. Again, you have set the standards and expectations so high, you only have yourselves to blame when you cannot meet those expectations from the ground. And the more you fail to meet their expectations, the more the electorate will think you’re not worth your astronomical salaries. It’s a vicious cycle that you’ve started and it’s going to be very hard to stop now.
You talk about the so-called “crutch-mentality” of the poor, yet this same mentality can be applied on yourselves. When you’ve used money as the main means to attract people into your party, you’ve basically recruited people who value money above serving the country in the people’s interest. These politicians who are in it for the money will not have the incentive to think independently or to represent the people’s interests because they’ve got millions to lose if they don’t toe party lines. Because they’re paid millions, what incentives do they have to empathize with someone struggling with 2 jobs to make ends meet? Very soon, the voters will feel that you’re just a bunch of corrupt officials, no different from those in many 3rd-world countries.
The way I see it, you only have yourselves to blame for this situation you’re in. The only way you can somehow reverse these trends is to learn from Madonna (see, you never thought popular culture could teach you anything right?). She keeps herself relevant not by sticking to the same old formula again and again. That would have killed her career long ago as it did to countless of other pop stars. Rather, she keeps re-inventing herself and her image to keep them relevant to the current times. And she pushes the boundaries. She’s always ahead of her time and like a true leader, she sets the trends not follow them. She’s a rebel. Yet, all you have done is to remain exactly the same as you were in 1960s. The electorate is increasingly tired of your same old scare tactics using HDB upgrading as a stick, tired of you saying that Singapore will go to ruins if the opposition wins, tired of you always using smear campaigns against opposition candidates, tired of your arrogance and lack of empathy, tired of you giving out inconsequential hongbaos before elections only to increase your own salaries by millions after.
You keep encouraging us to think out-of-the-box, yet you’re perpetually stuck in the same adversarial mindset towards the opposition. If you can only start to think of your relationship with the opposition as a mutual symbiosis – you share a portion of power with them in return for your longevity and credibility. Power is always temporary, but your legacy needn’t be. Just look at the current Conservative Party of UK which traces its roots back to the Tory Party in 1678. Do you think they could have survived this long without any meaningful opposition, no defeats, no radical internal reforms? Are you so politically shortsighted that you can only see your future in the next 10, 20 or 50 years? C’mon, think further!! And didn’t anyone tell you that in other to be the best, you need to have competition? Otherwise, how can the electorate be sure that you’re indeed the best, if they can’t compare you to any other party?
I’m no military strategist, but I do think that sometimes, you need to lose some battles first in order to win bigger battles later. It will not be a bad thing for you to lose a few GRCs in GE. In fact, if I were you, I will be celebrating. Because nothing gets people going like failure. Rather lose some small battles now than to wait for the big bomb to explode later. By then, not only will you disappear into the dust heap of history, so too will Singapore. That will be your ultimate betrayal to this country that you so painstakingly and successfully created out of a little red dot on the map.

    Europe’s southern migration pattern revealed

The issues faced by European nations has received attention from around the globe – with increased unrest in financial markets causing many to pause and reflect on the implications.

One of the more major moves over the last few months has come in the form of migration – with an increasing number of peoples packing their bags and heading south in search of better prospects.

Specifically, the employment situation in countries such as Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy are making it increasingly difficult for the unemployed to find work.

Even those who currently have jobs are understandably looking further afield in case they to find themselves without a regular income.

While some may choose to stick close to home in case things improve in the short term, a surprising amount of anecdotal evidence suggest that the southern hemisphere is proving to be the destination of choice for many of these travellers.

Countries like Australia that are built on a history of migration can provide European emigrants with a number of compelling reasons to make the long journey.

For some, there is the connection of family – with siblings, cousins and relatives providing a solid base to stay with the added comfort of familiar faces and shared backgrounds.

Others may find that it is the culture that draws them – a perception of a relaxed atmosphere, similar legal structures or even something as simple as English being a familiar language could all be considered to be a positive reason to move to Australia.

In addition, the stability of the local economy – based as it is on resource and agriculture exports – could prove to be the major drawcard.

Migration agents are often sought out by firms involved in these industries to help make use of certain schemes put in place by official government offices – with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship keeping a number of visa options in place for businesses to access international workers.

In particular the 457 subclass allows companies to sponsor skilled migrant workers, allowing them to live and work here for periods of up to four years – and even having the opportunity to bring their families with them.

However, less experienced travellers may be interested in the options available through a Working Holiday visa, which can give them the right to work in Australia for up to 12 months.

With the many opportunities available in the southern hemisphere, it is small wonder that European emigrants would consider looking at the island continent as an ideal destination.

Savvy travellers will also know that their best chance at gaining new opportunities in any country rests with receiving qualified advice from experienced professionals such as registered migration agents.

  75. Salam hormat Tun Mahathir

  76. Dear Tun,

May I respond to dtan. Dear dtan you are a Muslim hater. You sound like Abu Lahab, Chinese Abu Lahab.

    amin tan

Saya amat mengkagumi Tun semenjak saya sekolah lagi

  78. Good evening YAB Tun,

    1. May all your wishes may be blessed and aswered by “Allah” in this 86th Birthday.

    2. Selamat Harijadi ke-86 kepada Tun Dr Mahathir bin
    Mohamad.

    3. Last but not least, dtan, I think Susan L. is a Jewish American.

    4. Just be ourselves as “insan kepada” Malaysia, everything will be backed to normal.

    5. Once again, Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to YAB Tun.

    Bye, YAB Tun.
p.s. amin tan sound like Bernard Madoff to me.

  79. Salam Tun,

Happy birthday! Managed to see snippets of your speech on TV3 last night. It’s good to see you well and as sharp as a rapier. AlhamdulilLah.

It is also good to read your reply to Anwar’s statement regarding the World Bank loans. Some say that you shouldn’t waste you time responding to Anwar but I think it’s important to set the matter straight.

Going by his statement Anwar continues to think that either Malaysians are stupid or have very short memories. Wasn’t it Anwar who gave a very warm welcome to “my good friend Michel (Camdessus)”, then IMF’s MD, shortly before implementing IMF’s ‘remedy’ as you said in Para 9? Yes, the DPM/FM and the MD were good friends and on first names basis apparently.

Personally I find it very difficult to believe a man who for 16 long years was OK with the government but then suddenly sees the light and realises that everything is rotten the day he got kicked out of power. Wow. Did he experience an epiphany? Was he living in a cave all those long years before the sun shone down to reveal all that’s bad and ugly? No, he was in the thick of it wasn’t he? Maybe even more than you, Tun.

Malaysians should be able to see through Anwar by now but he’s good at making those sort of statements. Some people like to listen to his words but didn’t somebody say ‘action is eloquence?’ In a BBC interview Anwar claimed to have read the whole of Shakespeare’s Works six times while he was in jail. He didn’t say how many times he khatam Quran while in jail, but I tend to take Anwar’s favourite author’s advice and judge him by what he does or doesn’t do.

Thank you Tun. May Allah put you and Tun Hasmah in His protection always.

  80. Macspeed you are totally in dark ages. Use your handicapped mentalility to ask other people. Samalah mcm kebanyakan cikgu di sekolah kebangsaan. Kebanyakan cikgu sekolah yang saya kenal semuanya penyokong Pakatan Rakyat.

  81. salam tun,
    firstly happy 86th birthday. 😀
    1. Until now, Allah extends your life and keeps you in a good state of health. it must be due to some reason. And to me, the ultimate reason would be because He knows, as long as you’re still breathing, you’ll contribute. Contribute to this nation and safeguarding it from being deviated from its goals.

    2. serving for 20 years as a doctor and another 22 years as the best prime minister ever had, how can possibly one contribute more than this? Your life has been filled with your precious contributions that people who were once opposing you have now started to realize. And appreciate.

    3. About Anwar, challenging him to swear would be the most effective tool to force him to prove what he claims, since the only one thing that he is afraid of is GOD. He isnt afraid of the Rulers, He isnt afraid of the Law, he isnt afraid of the Jews, He isnt afraid of anything that can kill him except his little, leftover faith that he has got towards his Creator.

    4. I thought he would take that challenge as he might have that perception that nothing’s gonna happen to him, since swearing is something that involves the unseen consequences.

    5. People’s mind have been so much influenced by him until there are hardcore followers who are now blinded despite seeing the facts and truths.

    6. and one more, i think, it’s not too bad of an idea if you write a book on what characters a good prime minister must have as in, a guideline on how to lead malaysia. throw out your ideas, as crazy, creative, inventive, imaginative, and awkward as you always be. this would make you alive, ‘eternally’ .

    7. Actually, you have now alive ‘eternally’ as your ideas are all now materialized and enjoyed by all.

Thanks for everything Tun. May God Bless you always 🙂

  82. Tun,

If i may respond to Amin Tan December 21, 2011 at 8:35 am

    Dear Amin,

I wasted 1:29:10 hours seconds of my time listening to Susan L’s rantings and ravings. She makes a lot of hearsay and accusations. I was hoping to see physical or documentation i.e proof of guilt. Someone telling her there were black vans planting thermite bombs is not proof but hearsay. Saying that Mohammed Atta is a Muslim CIA asset is hearsay not proof. Saying that her Boss was aware that there was a terrorist threat is not proof that the US government was involved. She is a sensationalist smiling and eating up the attention. The fact that the US Government allows her to spew her Bullshit freely (Book) speaks very highly of US democracy. If she has real evidence provide it to the US Attorney General and have President Bush indicted for murdering Americans on 9/11. Why write a book? Why is she giggling while talking about people dying in Libya etc,etc,etc….. Why was she declared incompetent to stand trail ? If you work for the CIA and decide to open up state secrets; then are they supposed to roll out the red carpet? I feel sorry for her. Conspiracy Theorist Extraordinaire. It is amazing how Muslims feel they can do no wrong, keep finding proponents to defend them. Keep dishing it out, if it makes you sleep better, that’s all i can say.

Let me share with you a conversation i had with Hanan a while ago

‘In Malaysia there are Chinese Muslim converts who hate and despise their own culture so much that they discard their previous identity. They don’t speak their native tongue, dress like an Ultra Muslim, curse their culture (family) and try to act more Muslim then Native Malay Muslims. Its like the Bible says ‘,..is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. ‘ ~ James 1:23-24’

Stop embarrassing yourself. I’m not going to convince you to leave Islam unlike others who feel that i should become a Muslim. Just stop embarrassing yourself. It dishonours my family name ‘Tan’

Peace Be With You In Jesus Name

We will always support you from behind.
    Berani kerana benar…

  84. Salam Tun Dr. Mahathir

  85. Salam Tun, selamat menyambut hari jadi yang ke-86. Semoga Tun & keluarga sentiasa dilindungi Allah swt dan dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezeki dan mendapat kesihatan terbaik.

In this case, Anwar has definitely proved that he has gotten better at one thing since he was fired from the office.. and that thing is stupidity.

  86. To Bumi Malaya if you are reading this,

Please refrain yourself from using strong words such as pengkhianat. I am an overseas student at the moment and have a vast interest in politics espc in the UK. By taking jabs at the opposition, you are not solving anything. I dont think we can jump to any conclusions either based on reading articles in the media. At the end of the day, it is up to the politicians to clear matters up and provide transparency for the public to decide. You are of course entitled to your opinions. Everyone is and should be respected. However, hopefully you can regard this message with an open mind and perhaps bear more thought into your messages the next time you decide to post something hateful. Also, I dont get how judging him or talking about his fate changes our country? My point is, and please take this lightly, you wouldnt want to be judged by others as well based on hearsay and the internet. Strong words such as his passing and his fate is not up to us to decide.
Thank you for the taking the time to read

  87. Salam Tun, Happy Birthday.

I would like make a correction your Para 10 as you mentioned above.

The governor who refuse to implement currency control was Tan Sri Ahmad bin Mohd Don, after he resign, he was replace by Tan Sri Ali Abul Hassan Sulaiman, after Tan Sri Ali Abul Hassan Sulaiman then Tan Sri Zetty until now.

    Thank you.

  88. Salam YAB & diKasihi Tun,

    Terima kasih Tun.

  89. Salam Tun,
I hope you and your family are in good health and are doing well. You have always been my idol Tun and I really salute you for all the impossible things you made possible for the sake of all Malaysians. I might be a student but I really appreciate every single thing you did for all of us. Thank you Tun. Thank you for everything.

I’m very concerned of the latest development of the new accusation created by Anwar and his gangs. I hope that this thing can be made clear soon and the culprits behind this accusation can be brought to justice. Finally, I would like to wish you a Happy Belated Birthday Tun!!!

A Matter of Humanity and Multiculturalism

The alleged accusation of a purported letter to the World Bank ( or was it to the IMF? ) was a non-starter. If it was to the World Bank, then the request was for assistance in socio-economic projects. But if it was to the IMF, the request would have been of a monetary kind.

History has shown that you made the right moves and this was what was important for all of us. And to the chagrin of our detractors.

The important matter was the result of your decisive actions to save the peace and harmony of the country which had reached 41 years of nation-building in 1998, and not to listen to the nay-sayers which were many. This was a time also when common sense held sway and not meritocracy (experts) as it was to be proven in the years 2007/2008. The rigidity of a meritocratic pyramid set-up with the ‘smartest’ fellow on top has proved to be a failure – a fallacy. The chaps froze waiting for the No. 1 to make the first right or wrong move and could not think out of a box because of the constraints of the pyramid.

This also confirmed the fact that 2 of the mightiest nations on earth, the United States and Britain, with all the power, wealth and brain-power at their command for decades if not centuries, could not avoid the ‘cave-man’ instinct to kill and to kill in the execution of their foreign policies in the 21st century. What was missing ? It was just humanity and multiculturalism as practised by India and Malaysia. Even the West and Singapore today are still grappling with the elephant of multiculturalism now sitting in their drawing rooms quietly enjoying chicken masala or shish kebab to the consternation of the hapless residents !

In 1997/1998, Malaysia had no vaunted meritocratic pyramid and yet with your leadership and to your credit and common sense, the country survived with peace and harmony to this day. All the detractors were denigrating your ‘unorthodox’ or ‘maverick’ method in the face of the conventional practice. This proved that the top brains of IMF assumed that every country is the same consisting of the same digits and the same highlights. They did not see that we are human beings who have feelings and sentiments which cannot be read in any tome.
This is where Malaysia’s resilience as a nation lies – its practice of humanity and multiculturalism by the Royal Sultans, and the Governments of yore, including yours Tun ! In those dramatic times, you did not use a pen to slash and to be conventional to appease the world. We can now see from the other examples that the world actually could not care two hoots whether Malaysia stood or fell. One wrong move and all of us Malaysians would have paid dearly whatever this meant !

By 2007/2008, the Judeo-Anglo-Saxon financial system which was operating fine and dandy since the ‘Big Bang’ of the 1980s imploded from the excesses of its so-called ‘self-imposed’ regulations which included the sky-high explosive increase of executives salaries leading to the difficult and ineffectual politics in the West today with 99% of the populace unhappy and frustrated ! The collapse of the cosy Continental financial system followed soon after. And the ‘bail-outs’ are now the norm.

Malaysia without a rigid meritocratic system survived unlike Singapore with its vaunted meritocracy which failed at the most critical moment in the financial affairs of the world since the Great Depression of 1931. It was alleged US$ 108 Billions (official) of its citizens trust money were lost in a jiffy.

Of course, it is now realised by every one that the cause of the catastrophe of 2008 was politics and not economics – from the ‘Big Bang’ of the 1980s to the ‘Big Bail-outs’ of the 21st century. The same pundits know how to resolve it quickly but the political will is insurmountable !

With hindsight, Tun, the nay-sayers of 1998 should now give credit where credit is due – how Malaysia’s peace and harmony was saved by your common sense and courage without a rigid meritocratic pyramid of smart fellows. And in particular, you always safeguarded our country’s sovereignty, national interest and self-esteem. These are important virtues for any leader of our country.

Whither the purported letter to the World Bank or the IMF ?

We Malaysians stand proud today !

  92. VERY TRUE,
TUN HAS RESCUED US DURING THE MONETARY CRISIS.

A BIG THANK YOU TUN.YOU MY FRIEND

ANWAR WAS SEEN DETERMINE TO SELL US OFF.
ANWAR IS SICK IN THE BRAIN
HE IS NOT HISTORY,HIS JUST A UNITED STATES PRODUCT.
HIS PROUD UNITED STATES BACK HIM,
BUT DID NOT REALIZE HE IS JUST AN INSTRUMENT FOR UNITED STATES OF THEIR INTEREST.
    ANWAR ( SHIOK SENDIR )
AS MUCH AS UNITED STATES SUPPORT ON AUNG SAN SUU KYI OF BURMA.SHE IS ALSO JUST AN INSTRUMENT OF US.

MALAYSIA MUST QUICKLY INDENTIFY SUCH OF THESE VIRUSES AS EARLY,BEFORE IT GOT OUT OF HANDS.

  93. Salam Tun,
Do not waste your time to ask Anwar to swear, as he will never do it. Sue him is the right answer. The act of Anwar to increase BLR and reduce NPL period from six months to three months has caused two Bumi finance companies, namely Cempaka Finance and Abrar Finance to close down. Many banks at that time issued new loans to cover bad loans to escape the excess NPL. Anwar was aware of this. Two Bumi Banks were also trapped namely UMBC thereafter Sime Bank and Bank Bumiputra. They were straight forwards banks.

He even insisted our govt. to accept IMF loan hoping for high commissions. If you accept IMF loan at that time many Bumis would have been unemployed. Big corporates, such as Maybank, Highcom, Telekom, Petronas and many others would have been taken over foreigners. The foreigners then would recruit Malaysians who would drink and eat with them alike.

    TQ

  94. Assalammualaikum Tun,

  96. Salam Tun,

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I pray for your continued good health and blessed with happinness. Insyaallah.

On Anwar latest hu ha, I guess he is just a desperate person trying all tricks he could to save his ass. He know 9th Jan verdict will and should not go his way, hence all these craps he’s currently trying to highlight to the mainstream public to get sympathy.
I truly believe it’s about time we ignore him. We should not react and give response to any of his antics and why should we as he talk nothing but nonsense. We just let him bark all he want and we dont give a damn. Lets see how long he can bark..
Sometimes, I feel the media fall into his trick and as a result he get the publicity he need.. I’m done talking about this moron..
He has done so much damage to this beloved country..

  97. Anwar Ibrahim you should just forget about politics you have done alot of damaged to your self and Malaysia. You are just like Bush and Blair you have many selfish agenda only benefit you and your family.

At the end DAP will benefit of your greed and stupidity.

  98. Happy birthday dear Tun

Everybody seems to be forgetting on how some RM500 mil of our local currency being ‘sold’ to our down south neighbour during the economic crisis when our ‘brader’ was in charge.

This father of smearing campaign can continue to create his hogwashes to the younger and not so new generations but not for those who’ve witnessed and experienced the 1997-1999 era.

Also, everybody seems to be forgetting on how this ‘brader’ overthrown Allahyarham Tun Ghaffar Baba for UMNO vice president post.

At my place alone (somewhere in Pahang), he can afford to have his smearing campaign against Tun Ghaffar (the usual ceramah lah) went on for 3 days in a row (foods and beverages were also provided ok). Sudah macam rupa kenduri kahwin pun ada.

  99. Salam Tun

I knew you would write about this. Anwar was so rhetorical about this. As usual, no statistics, no explanation, no details etc.

Thanks Tun for showing the way. May Allah bless you and Tun Hasmah.

It is also revealed in details substantiated by documents and proofs in a book, extreme prejudice, by the same author.

  101. Dear Tun

Do not waste your time to provide answers to this morally corrupt man, 6 years in jail was not enough for him to repent. just wait this 9 January court verdict, what will happen to this Parti Islam(berkebajikan) SeMalaysia ,PAS, prime minister in waiting. What fatwa will be out and from which fiqh book. Congratulations to Dr Hassan Ali and Ustaz Nasaruddin for your true conviction to the original party struggle, a rare species in PAS now.

  102. Terjemahan oleh agendadaily.com dgn sedikit pembetulan.
    +-+-+

    a) Sektor Pendidikan USD244 juta

    b) Sektor Sosial USD60 juta

    c) Sektor Teknikal USD100 juta

    3. Krisis mata wang juga bermula pada tahun 1997. Seperti kebiasaannya, pinjaman tidak diluluskan sehingga 1999 setelah krisis tamat. Urutan biasa untuk permohonan pinjaman yang dibuat, diikuti dengan rundingan. Kelulusan akan diberikan oleh pihak bank kemudian.

    4. Bank Dunia mahu Malaysia memohon pinjaman bagi menyelesaikan krisis sama seperti negara-negara lain yang terjejas oleh perdagangan mata wang. Pinjaman tersebut adalah dengan syarat Malaysia mengikut nasihat IMF dalam menguruskan ekonomi. Memang diketahui Malaysia enggan untuk mendapatkan bantuan IMF atau Bank Dunia kerana apa yang dipanggil sebagai bantuan itu akan memburukkan lagi masalah kewangan. Sebaliknya, pada tahun 1998 Malaysia memperkenalkan kawalan mata wang yang membantu pemulihan ekonomi.

    5. Pada bulan Jun 1998 (sebelum kawalan mata wang dan Anwar masih Menteri Kewangan) pinjaman bagi USD 300 juta telah ditandatangani dengan Bank Dunia untuk;

    a) Kumpulan Wang Program Makanan

    b) Pinjaman Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi

    c) Program Mikro Kredit

    6. Pada 31 Mac 1999 pinjaman sebanyak USD 100 juta telah ditandatangani bagi Bantuan Teknikal dan untuk mengatasi masalah Y2K. Walau bagaimanapun, pinjaman ini telah dihentikan selepas dikeluarkan sebanyak USD 11,94 juta.

    7. Daripada USD 244 juta Projek Pendidikan yang telah diluluskan pada bulan Mac 1999, pembayaran telah diarahkan berhenti selepas USD 216.7 telah dikeluarkan.

    8. Pinjaman Sektor Sosial USD 60 juta, yang diluluskan pada bulan Mac 1999, hanya USD 600,000 telah dikeluarkan sebelum ia dihentikan.

    9. Sebagaimana seluruh dunia tahu Anwar seperti dilaporkan akhbar dan majalah asing telah melaksanakan dasar IMF tanpa pinjaman IMF. Beliau menaikkan kadar faedah, mengurangkan tempoh untuk mengisytiharkan pinjaman tidak berbayar dari 6 bulan hingga 3 bulan, peruntukan bajet dikurangkan kepada kementerian untuk tujuan mencapai lebihan belanjawan dan sebagainya.

    10. Walaupun beliau tidak menentang dasar kawalan mata wang, Gabenor dan Timbalan Gabenor Bank Negara yang dilantik olehnya enggan untuk melaksanakan dasar tersebut dan meletak jawatan. Tan Sri Zeti kemudiannya dilantik sebagai Gabenor Bank Negara Malaysia.

    11. Seperti yang dinyatakan di atas, Malaysia berhenti berunding mengeluarkan pinjaman dengan Bank Dunia pada tahun 1997 dan Jun 1998. Ini tidak menghalang Malaysia pulih daripada krisis.

    12. Saya tidak pernah menulis surat atau secara lisan memohon pinjaman dari Bank Dunia. Jika Anwar boleh menunjukkan bukti bahawa saya telah lakukannys, maka hendaklah dia tunjukkan bukti tersebut. Jika gagal berbuat demikian, dia perlu bersumpah dengan Al-Quran di dalam masjid menyatakan bahawa dia tahu apa yang dikatakannya itu adalah benar. Saya bersedia untuk bersumpah bahawa saya tidak pernah meminta pinjaman dari Bank Dunia.

    +++
Tun, skang ni juak-juak Anwar sedang spin cerita pasal pinjaman projek pembangunan dgn Bank Dunia, nampaknya depa belum faham term pinjaman utk projek pembangunan dgn term dana pinjaman utk menyelesaikan krisis matawang.

Pinjaman utk projek pembangunan dgn Bank Dunia hanya sekitar puluhan juta dolar hingga maksimum 300 juta dolar (92 projek) sejak 1958.

Dana bantuan pinjaman menyelesaikan krisis IMF pulak secara pakej bernilai besar antara 17 billion dolar usd hingga 23 bilion dolar usd (Thailand & Indonesia).

  103. Dear Tun,

I believe your version is the truth. I remember very well at the end of Anwar Ibrahim tenure as Finance Minister, the interest rate on vehicle loan was at the all time high of 17%. It was killing the industry. The situation was rescued when Anwar was removed and Tun took over. Malaysians were all relieved and overjoyed when Tun invented the capital control and saved the bursa saham from total collapse and destruction of the economy. Malaysian currency was plummeting and the composite index was below 500. I was expecting it to go below 250 until Tun came to the rescue with the capital control. The country owes so much to you, Tun for saving the economy. I saw you spoke on television on capital control. Now Anwar Ibrahim wants to claim credit. It makes me sick.

    amin tan

  104. yes Tun, the rakyat must not be diverted from the root cause of the issue, which is (was).. borrowing with the intention to recover from the late 90s crisis, which was proven to be fatal to our economy at that time if we did (and now). Not that we did not borrow at all for other purposes prior.

  105. Dr Mahathir Mohamad
    Salam Hormat PRU13

Can you get the Chinese votes in Penang and Selangor?
It is up to you to help BN wins 2/3 majority in Parliament. I do not want that to happen. BN wins but not with 2/3 in Parliament.

Let me say that if you let BN wins with 2/3 majority you will be sorry. Anyway, now you have to justify yourself – you have become najib’s khadam numero uno. Congratulations.
    DAP will eat najib easy.

    Best wishes.

  106. Assalamualaikum Tun.

Anwar patut mengubah strateginya.Mungkin Tun Mahathir dianggap lubang lemah.Tentulah silap.

Dengan siapa Anwar berhadapan sebenarnya? Kalau bukan kekuasaan Allah swt.

    Belajarlah dari Anwar Ibrahim…

    Terima kasih Tun.

  107. Dear Tun,
    Please cut the crap.
    U all people corrupted.
Sharizat, Cow case, now? Condo case
    Khir Toyo? Mansion case
Taib? Huh, lagi best. Multiple company with bill or asset.

Compound Interest & Mega Trends – Food for Thought
by AKAMEEL on DECEMBER 6, 2011
Undoubtedly, the world is currently observing some powerful mega trends taking place, particularly of climate change, economy and politics. The world accordingly seems poised for some mega historical changes – technology, finance, economy, social and political. Global awakenings are happening almost in every part of the world. Monarchies and kingdoms have felled in the Middle East and the trend is continuing with what is termed as the Arab Spring and the economies of major developed countries like the US, Europe and Japan are facing serious problems – debt crisis with persistent recession, unemployment, homelessness, nuclear crisis etc. Prices, particularly of commodities are skyrocketing. Accordingly people have taken to the streets to protest against what they regard as crippling wealth and income inequality, corporate greed and government policies that seem bias towards the elites. This protest that started on September 17, 2011 as Occupy Wall Street (OWS) in New York City’s Wall Street financial district has now spread to over hundreds of cities worldwide. Interestingly many world leaders have voiced support for the protests. India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, for example, stated, “There are reasons why people are protesting. People are protesting in Wall Street, in Europe about the fat salaries that the bankers are getting when people are being asked to tighten their belts. There is problem of growing unemployment in the United States. There is also worry in Europe. So there are problems which the system must have credible answers to take them on board.” Truly, the debt crisis in Europe is threatening the euro as a single currency and might even rip apart the European Union. On the climate front, one just has to look at the latest devastating flood in Thailand.

There may be many reasons for the above observations, but strange as it may sound, I have always asserted that the one most important factor that is contributing to all the above is the structure of our global monetary system based on fiat money and compound interest. I will focus on compound interest in this article.

Compound interest means interest over interest. For example if one were to deposit RM1,000 at a compound interest of 10 percent per annum, one would have RM1100 at the end of the year, i.e. RM1,000 principal and RM100 as the interest. In the following year, this balance would grow to RM1,210, i.e. 10 percent of RM1,100 is RM110, added to the beginning balance of RM1,100. A simple formula relates this ending balance known as Future Value (FV) to the initial amount known as the Present Value (PV), i.e. FV = PV (1 + i)n where i is the interest rate and n is the number of years. Accordingly, the second-year balance can be obtained as FV = 1000 (1 + 0.10)2 = 1,210. The tenth-year balance, for example, would then be FV = 1000 (1 + 0.10)10 = 2,593.74. Note that since the formula has a power n in it, it is exponential in nature. In fifty years, the balance is RM117,390.85 while in a hundred years it is RM13,780,612.34! This computation is well-known to many of us, but what most of us are not aware is that it has serious implications for society, economy and the environment.

The reason why we postulate that the compound interest is at the root of the global chaos of today is that under the present fiat monetary system, most money is created through mere accounting entries by commercial banks in the form of loans, that carry compound interest with it. Due to this reason, both money and debt grow exponentially in almost all economies. But the real productive economy, i.e. the economy that produces goods and services does not and cannot match the exponential growth of money and debt. This is where the problem lies.

As a consequence, money and debt overshoots the real economy, the difference of which shows up in the form of inflation and bubbles; stock market bubble, housing bubble etc. See diagram. But in the process, individuals, businesses and governments become increasingly indebted (See table below). When the average debt level reaches a point that is unbearable for the weaker sections of the economy it then ‘bursts’, causing an avalanche of foreclosures of properties and the destruction of money in the process, which in turn brings about recession, unemployment and so forth. If individuals, businesses and governments all become indebted then one wonders who the creditors within the system are. Of course the creditors are indeed the banks to whom the system has given the legal right to create money out of thin air and lend it out to others at compound interest. Hence during times of crisis if one were to take a helicopter-view of the economy below, one would see things seem so normal down there but what really happens is that huge transfer of wealth taking place, from those who are distressed by the debt-situation to a small section of the economy, i.e. the banks.

The world after being under this pure fiat money system for the past few decades has been brought to the precarious position we are currently observing. There is now a global debt crisis, a situation significantly brought about by compound interest, but compounded further by the fact loans themselves are created out of thin air. This is the reason why a great productive nation like Japan, a nation of very hardworking and intelligent people, has fallen into a receding economy since almost two decades ago. In the real economy, one would expect such people to be able to produce abundantly and lend to others any extra they might save. And yet, in a compound interest-based system, Japan has become the country with the largest total debt as a percentage of GDP, i.e. more than 450%, with the government debt alone accounting for almost 200% of GDP. Government debt is indeed debt of the people. This can, therefore, ultimately wipe-off the national savings of the people, thereby transferring the saved wealth of the people to the government.

The US is also somewhat in a similar situation albeit it is not a nation with high savings rate like Japan. Compound interest has brought its economy practically to a halt, as shown by employment data. In capitalism, the compound interest-based monetary system strengthens a small section of the economy at the expense of the system itself. Hence compound interest is a seed of the capitalism’s own destruction. While strengthening a small group of people, it causes outright calamity on the rest of the people – economic deprivation, inflation, social disparity, high crime levels, erosion of moral values, collapse of the institution of family, erosion of feelings of love and compassion for others etc. Hence one is not surprised by the Occupy Wall Street movement, with its reverberations worldwide. In a recent interview by Bloomberg, George Soros mentioned that the turmoil in the US and Europe reminded him of the Soviet collapse. On how to fix the European debt problem, his amusing answer was “There is a lot of confusion and I am also confused.”

The compound interest monetary system has also brought the whole world to an interesting historical juncture. Almost every nation would be facing political upheavals and challenges due to this precarious position the world is currently in. At this juncture, we are reminded that the ongoing Arab unrest in the Middle East was triggered by one individual’s self immolation as a reaction to serious economic deprivation. The debt crisis is threatening even the very existence of the European Monetary Union, particularly with the latest crisis faced by Greece. Italy, Spain and others might follow soon. It’s crucial to note that Italy’s debt is larger than that of Greece, Spain and Portugal combined.

As mentioned earlier, the compound interest system in a fiat monetary system causes individuals, businesses and governments to become continuously and increasingly burdened with debt. Government debt, being the debt of the people, would have to be paid through collection of tax and other revenues from the people. This is the reason why in the case of Greece, for example, draconian austerity measures were required on its citizens. All these would but add extra burden on the people. Accordingly one could see why the anger against banking system worldwide – it is highly lucrative and relatively risk-free. In good times banks collect interest while in bad times, i.e. default-period times, they collect real assets placed as collaterals.

The political implications of the compound interest system are already obvious in many countries. In Malaysia I think it will be apparent by next year. In such times radical forces would make headways. Even the political challenges faced during the last election by PAP, the ruling party in Singapore, I would attribute it to the economic distress felt by many of its citizens, particularly the younger generation.

In Malaysia too, I believe that in the coming general election Barisan National would face among the strongest challenges it has faced, particularly caused by this socio-economic distress factor caused by the global monetary order. People would attempt to seek solace by going to the opposition, thinking that the opposition might be able to help them out of their predicament. But, nonetheless, even the opposition would not be able to help them on this unless it can effectively address the debt-burden faced by the people. Since compound interest is time-based, the challenge would only grow stronger as time elapses.

Therefore the solution to all these lies in giving the entire economic system a debt relieve – i.e. writing-off the interest portion of loans and demanding repayment of the principal amount alone. Indeed this is also what the whole world actually needs today – both the developing and developed nations. But unfortunately I do not see any political will towards this end anywhere in the world. The Barisan National government can hence become the hero and darling of the people if it can do this. It can lead and show the world the right path to recovery.

The collapsing global compound interest monetary system is currently taking the world into a runaway global hyperinflation mode. The low returns from equity and bond markets coupled with cheap money from the Quantitative Easings are fuelling a commodity bubble. Any bailouts in the European Union would add to this. Hence the prices of commodities, particularly grains like wheat and rice, are expected to skyrocket and potentially devastate millions of people. Malaysia would not be spared. In the case of rice, the problem is further exacerbated by the flooding in Thailand that has wiped out millions of acres of rice fields. Accordingly, the Malaysian government must take proactive actions now to control the prices of basic food items from seriously affecting the people. Otherwise things can get very bad particularly by next year. The authorities must also take measures to prevent food items from being smuggled out of the country, so as to contain prices and keep inflation to its minimum.

There are a lot of talks of transforming Malaysia into becoming a high-income nation by 2020. This on the outset looks something commendable, but nonetheless we must be wary of such simple macroeconomic statistics. Pushing national average income into the high income bracket may not mean much if there is wide disparity in income and wealth distribution. Averages alone do not tell the true picture. Accordingly some additional measures of income dispersion among individuals and even among the races may be necessary if we are to develop the nation as a whole into a high-income nation that enjoys not only prosperity but also peace among its people. Economic deprivation among groups of people or races can lead to tensions, crime and chaos.

Going back to the global scenario, what worries me most is that, judging from history, in situations as we are in now, mankind tend to resort to devastating wars to ‘solve’ such problems. The last ‘stronghold’ in this global political game, as I see it, is Iran. An attack on it seems imminent. I hope I’m wrong on this because the effects of a World War III, with many countries having nuclear capabilities, are unthinkable.

In conclusion, I have no doubt that the precarious global socio-economic-politico-environmental situation we are currently in is rooted in fiat money compound-interest monetary system. It is hence not surprising that Albert Einstein had apparently once remarked that the most powerful force in the universe is compound interest. We are at a juncture of human history where mankind has to boldly and urgently confront this manmade ‘virtual force’ if it must save itself from its own utter destruction.

  110. Salam Tun,
1st of all l would like to wish u a HAPPY 86th Birthday to u.
Semuga Tun & keluarga sentiasa dibawah perlindungan Allah swt dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezeki dan beroleh kesihatan terbaik.
It ok Tun let the small figure do not want to understand u as long all the rest is understood.
Wassalam.

  111. Anwar oh anwar.. you are idiot and now you want to wage war on one of intelligent person Malaysian ever had.. hahaha it is what i call as a suicide.. you should play it smarter..

  113. Salam Tun,
We’re well informed about this. Those lies that Anwar and his People’s Alliance (the Pakatan Rakyat) gangs are absolutely nonsense and being provocative. I hope that Allah will guide him and his obsessed followers to the right path. In the mean time, I pray that you and your family will always be healthy and happy always. Thank you Tun for everything you sincerely do to develop this country. You are our best leader!

  114. Anwar ni nama sudahlah busuk, masih lagi buat fitnah tentang isu lama.

  115. tun,

Although u did alot of great things to the country, what do u think of Perwaja and Proton?

Don’t u think they are failures?
Proton seems like is surviving because of protectionism.
Thailand seems to be even smarter by opening their doors and allowed bigger manufacturers that created much more jobs for their people, when vendors suppliers set up their business there.

    please enlighten me…

    Thanks!
