PRU 15

1. 945 candidates are contesting in this 15th Election.

2. It is likely that no group will win enough seats to form the Government.

3. Actually the real contenders are four groups which have fielded enough candidates to form a Government.

4. They are:-
i. Barisan Nasional headed by UMNO;
ii. PH or Pakatan Harapan headed by Anwar Ibrahim, President of Justice Party (Parti Keadilan);
iii. Perikatan Nasional, a backdoor Government headed by Mahiaddin Yassin;
iv. Gerakan Tanah Air contesting as Parti Pejuang Tanah Air because GTA has not been registered by the Government.

5. Who should voters choose:-
i. Barisan Nasional – BN
– BN is headed by UMNO whose President and the 6th PM of Malaysia is now in jail for stealing Government money, abuse of power and corruption.
– After a trial lasting four (4) years, three courts and nine judges unanimously found Najib guilty of all charges and sentenced him to 12 years jail and fined RM210 million.
– After Najib stepped down as President of UMNO and Chairman of Barisan Nasional, Zahid Hamidi took over.
– Zahid too is facing charges of corruption and is being tried. If guilty he will join Najib in jail.
– Zahid himself has pointed out to BN leaders that they too would be charged if BN loses the election.
– Zahid wants BN to win simply to save the leaders of BN from jail, and the dropping of all charges against BN leaders.
– What happens to the people and the country do not interest Zahid and BN.
– After assuring Ismail Sabri that he would be the PM if BN wins, reports emerged that candidates had to declare that Zahid Hamidi would be the PM should BN win.
– Though Zahid and Umno had denied the existence of such declaration, not many people are convinced.

ii. Next choice is PH or Pakatan Harapan.
– This party defeated BN in the 14th Election and formed the Government.
– Immediately upon becoming the Government the DAP component became arrogant and wanted to terminatate big contracts with big companies.
– The DAP forgot that thousands of workers were employed in these projects. Terminating the contracts would throw thousands of workers out of job.
– The PH wanted Anwar Ibrahim to be the Prime Minister. Anwar had no competence. As acting PM in 1997, when I went on holiday he couldn’t manage the finances of the country.
– During the currency crisis of 1997-1998 he chose to submit to the IMF and the World Bank. Doing so would have bankrupted the nation.
– Choosing PH as the Government of Malaysia would bankrupt the nation.

iii. The Perikatan Nasional (PN)
– This Party became the Government of Malaysia through the backdoor.
– Mahiaddin became the Prime Minister. This was engineered by Najib who wanted a Government which would drop the charges faced by him.
– But the PN Government under Mahiaddin was unable to stop Najib from being found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 12 years jail.
– Mahiaddin himself was incompetent and was unable to tackle the economic, political and social problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
– Najib then decided he needed an UMNO man as PM. Najib withdrew 15 members of parliament from the Mahiaddin Government and it collapsed.
– Then Ismail Sabri of UMNO was nominated as PM.
– Unfortunately for Najib, Ismail was also not able to prevent Najib from being jailed.
– Through Zahid, pressure was applied on Ismail to dissolve parliament and hold elections.
– Ismail gave in after he was assured that if BN won the election he would became the PM.
– But all senior leaders of Umno aligned to Ismail were axed giving rise to speculations that Ismail is like a sheep at the slaughter house.
– Najib hoped that BN would win big in the 15th Election and would gain a pardon from the Agong for Najib. He also required that all charges against him in the 1MDB cases be dropped.
– Najib would then be able to contest in future election and appointed PM if he wins.
– So for the nation there is the prospect of a convicted criminal becoming PM of the country.
– Do the voters want this to happen?

iv. The fourth party to make a bid to be the Government of Malaysia is the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).
– GTA is a movement of the Malays against the UMNO Malays who are corrupt.
– These corrupt Malays have destroyed the nation and its administrative machinery. Through enabling backdoor Government to displace the Government chosen by the people. Najib expected the case against him would be dropped.
– But Mahiaddin’s Government failed to do this.
– So Najib pulled out his support and Ismail Sabri from UMNO became PM.
– In this 15th Election the Malays of GTA found themselves opposed to the other parties, including the Malay UMNO.
– As related above, UMNO under Najib and the other kleptocrats had destroyed the country, turning it into are unstable country of thieves.
– The people suffer from incompetent administration.
– The signs of failure as a nation are now there.
– We may not be Sri Lanka or Lebanon or Iraq. But we are on the way there.
– If the voters choose the very people who caused the slide, or those whose elevation to Government was through the back door, then the slide towards failure would certainly take place.
– But if the voter wisely choose those who are free from court action because they have committed no crime, those who had experience in governance and development, those who abide by the rule of law, then the chances are the restoration of this beloved country and the well-being of its people will be achieved.
