SAINS DAN MATEMATIK

1. Semasa saya memegang jawatan Menteri Pendidikan sementara, saya telah kemukakan cadangan lama saya, iaitu pengajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris.

  2. Dear Dr M,

We, Sir..MALAYSIANS are an inter-complementary SINGULAR UNIT. Please ENOUGH OF RACISM, ENOUGH OF PITTING US AGAINST EACH OTHER. If you deeply understand the purpose of your LONG LIFE, it is to UNDERSTAND this FUNDAMENTAL: “Where there is division, there must be conflicts.”

Conflicts are never peaceful nor intelligent…it wears a nation down.

Let’s transcend and see through the game, the optical illusion.

Just as the COLOURLESS LIGHT, the ‘UNSEEN’ substance COLOURS the objective UNIVERSE into multiplicity and diversity of cognitive experiences. The differentiated entities of race/ethnicity are just ‘down-stream’ products, a refracted and modulated play of ‘God-Stuff’ called CONSCIOUSNESS. Let’s see through God’s bluff.

Let all the races, like colours of the rainbow integrate into its FULLEST BROADEST BANDWITH as colourless light sans the deceptive ‘refractive distortion’, without discrimination, as MALAYSIANS; and not pander to RACE SUPERIORITY.

If you want more STEVE JOBS and BILL GATES or better, something NOVEL…let’s improve on EUGENICS, end in-breeding, keep us FREE-RANGE to love one another without ETHNORELIOCENTRISM interposing. I hope we can make a collective effort to pare down the detrimental falsehood perpetuated by our divisive ‘Cultural Inheritance’. Time for a new way forward. No?

Malam tadi (Ahad mlm Isnin) DBKL bahagian perlesenan pulak datang ganggu..

Siapa bilang Melayu tak pandai niaga..?

Kerana kepentingan pribadi & politik pihak tertentu,

    PKP kami bermula awal..😯

  4. On secondary schooling.

Tun, I would like to share from my own personal experience being taught at a leading boarding school in England, specifically on how languages are trained on pupils. When I entered the First Form (or Form 1 here), we immediately took English, Latin and French. This was the same in the Second Form. By Third Form, German and Greek were also included. This carried on through the Fourth and Fifth Forms. We were allowed to drop a classic (a.k.a dead) and a modern language by Fourth Form.. thus in my case I dropped Greek and German. That still left me having to learn 5 years of English, Latin and French to complete school IGCSE, besides also taking English Literature (studying and acting Shakespeare’s King Henry IV Part 1 and Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales et cetera).

Besides all those, we also all had to take Maths, Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. At my school, there was no distinction between science and arts students.. just plain students.

So, I cannot see what the fuss is about things like streamings(?) and difficult languages, like secondary schools constantly have in this country. None at all.

  5. Good Morning Tun M

Tun balik kedah makan nasi kandar ka?

I beli kat Shah Alam je. Haji Ramli by Chef Nabil. I pun tak tahu Chef Nabil ini chef celebrity, goggle baru tau. I tahu kedai ini sebab recommended by my son and hubby’s friend. My son cukup suka kedai ini dari Nasi Lemak Royale Kedah.

I also suka kari kedai ini. More of kari Melayu, tapi kalau nak kari mamak Royale Kedah dekat Vista Alam.

Nasi kandar sebenarnya bukanlah murah, satu orang makan akan cecah 15 ringgit sepinggan. Since I biasa dengan Haji Ramli by Chef Nabil, price taklah sampai 15 ringgit seorang tambahan I tak makan sana sejak MCO, bila kedai buka semula, I bungkus bawa blik.

For seminggu sekali makan kat Haji Ramli, ok. Weekdays I jarang pergi area tersebut. Khabarnya time lunch line cukup panjang orang beratur. Lebih panjang dari hari Sabtu. Kalau tak silap, hari Ahad kedai Haji Ramli by Chef Nabil ini tutup.

Berbeza dengan Royale Kedah buka hari2 like any kedai mamak. Actually kedai ini anak buah punya hubby punya cousin punya. The owner for this Royale Kedah outlet juga memiliki kedai steak sebelah Menate.

Susah juga nak kata orang Melayu, orang Islam tak pandai niaga.

  7. On sinister plot(?!).

I was just having my afternoon tea casually reading some of the postings in Tun’s blog, and I came across @Watan’s posting..

    And then,

“Dimana “pejuang Bahasa kebangsaan”, “pejuang perkara 152”, para cendekiawan? Bila nak arak keranda ke istana negara? Tidak, mereka tak kesah kerana anak-anak mereka belajar disekolah antarabangsa.”

Now, I have heard of this story somewhere before, that there are a group of Malay MPs from wealthy families in Parliament, who oppose the PPSMI. But it is hard to believe in such a plot to bring down their own race. Unbelievable and evil if this is true. Some of these MPs are seen to be the future of UMNO new leadership(!!) I can’t say which ones, for Tun’s blog is spied upon daily by all quarters in this country. But I reckon readers can make their clever guesses.

This is the twenty-first century, and yet there are rich young Malay politicians and not-so-young Malay academics and urban activists who are not happy to see poor rural Malays to be conversant in English, in case the latter become their competitors in future. Such evil thoughts.. unbelievable. I don’t know what to say.. lost for words(!)

It won’t be a surprise the community will remain backward forever.

    Tun,

@Sri Sense is correct when she highlighted the fact that there ARE a lot of good doctors, dentists, stockbrokers, and all other sectors of the economy, from the Malay community. It is the same with Bumiputera community in Sabah and (I am pretty sure) in Sarawak, too. A work colleague of mine (from previous environment) was a an excellent top political aide from Sarawak to a government minister at Putrajaya. He was as good as any that I have encountered anywhere, but it was the same as most from the Malay/Bumiputera community… they are not so fluent in English, a pity.

A couple of things, though, from what I observe.. firstly, the numbers of these highly trained and capable professionals from the Malay/Bumi community are very small vis-a-vis the community population itself, and highly concentrated in the big cities like KL and KK. This presents a strong disadvantage from the community itself, as percentage is very important to provide longevity to a community success. For instance, most professional households of any ethnic background in any country tend to have small number of children. From success sustainability perspective, as the richer families contribute a declining percentage of the total community population, such that in ten or twenty years time, the entire community will get poorer and poorer, as the poorer section takes a greater portion of the total community. This is well-documented for any community in the world, including the Malay/Bumi community.

Secondly, the NEP without any doubt has corrupted the minds of the community in general. The easy path and easiest path to riches is the default mantra for a newly born Malay/Bumiputera community. The expectationof a Malay/Bumi is very different from non-Malay/Bumi. The work hard ethics is not part of the requirement. This is instilled from a young age, by design or accident. This is very sad, as the otherwise highly educated and professional minority in the Malay/Bumi community is not using their ability to the fullest. I recall one Malay political aide past colleague (a masters graduate in political science and an excellent communicator) kept asking for my opinion.. whether he should quit civil service and start a small business. My immediate response was, YES(!) he should. What better way is there to make more money (if that’s your desire) and touch the sky so-to-speak than to start one’s own small business(!) He kept asking the same questions while I was his colleague on my limited duration there, that I could only conclude why he did this. Simple… he was so comfortable being looked after from cradle to death by the government, that he has lost all urgency in his life to reach for his stars. He may never will, not for the lack of technical ability and resources, BUT simply for the lack of INNER desire and urgency.

This IS the main difference between Malay/Bumis and Chinese/Indian communities. The former is very well taken of, the latter are simply welcome to live in the country (nothing more). One can see from the results. There is only so much the former will achieve and in a very small proportion of their community, whereas the successful of the non-Malay/Bumi communities are not only greater as a proportion of their communities, but also most significantly more visible as private-sector businessmen outside the country and most importantly for the non-Malay/Bumi communities themselves, the potential numbers of such people are constantly by default almost a hundred percent from cradle to death. Of course, not all see the same results, but the potential for that is staggering. In contrast, the default potential of the global super-rich in the Malay/Bumi communities is constantly zero from birth, safe for a Herculean self-imposed exile from the imposed crutches, by one individual (yet to emerge until today). If I am not mistaken, the most successful documented rich man from the Malay/Bumi community is a state-guaranteed monopoly business (ports/utilities) operator. The second and third are government-supported contractors. The list is predictable.

As one from a mixed-parentage Bumi community, this is simply too frightening to watch..

p/s. commie HBT, why don’t you drop a couple of nukes on Beijing and Shanghai, the pandemic specialists.

I BELIEVE I CAN HANDLE THE NUKES ON BEIJING AND SHANGHAI, THE PANDEMIC SPECIALISTS SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU AS VOTER, TWINPEAKS. I WONT KECUT AND BERUNDUR EVEN 1 CM KERANA TAKUT HILANG UNDI AHLI UMNO BARU, PAS, AMANAH, PPBM DAN PKR.

  13. That’s why TUN is still
    the RIGHT man to rule
    MALAYsia!

    The combination of Science,
    Math and English (S.M.E)
is the CORE that a country
    become civilized and
    progressively prosperity.

    On FB, a Pembaris and
    a Pencuri always laugh the
    fly car that developed on
    the fundamental of S.M.E.
    They also behave like the
    nobel economics prize winners
    to ‘humiliate’ the 3rd national
    car project for political reasons.
    This is a potrait of
    developing MALAYsia.
    They know nothing about
    those contexts and focus
    on cheating rakyats for
    regaining the power!

    That’s why SASTERA-PMs always
    create lots of problems for
    the country e.g. SOFT, INCOMPETENT,
    CORRUPTION and BRIBERY.

    How important S.M.E is?
TELSA is one of the genuine examples.
    The market capitalisation:
    TELSA $93B >
    GM $50B + FORD $37B

    Hope TUN continue to lead
    MALAYsia ASAP.
    3rd national (ELECTRIC) car
    project MUST be launched.

  14. On English language and the NEP.

From my own personal experience, the most ideal time to immerse a person in a language other than his own mother tongue is at childhood. This means during the formative primary school period. As in any Bumi family, I also grew up in a colloquial/regional language household; my parents spoke in native tongue and my entire family and visiting relatives communicated as such. English was never spoken as it was considered a foreign language even at primary school. One lesson of Bahasa Inggeris daily, and that was it. Closed the book and business as usual in BM. That was my personal life at Sekolah Rendah in KK, playing football whenever there was break time, even inside the classroom. But that idyllic life in Primary 6 ended the moment my father stared at me one evening after dinner and said that he was sending me to a Tokyo secondary school. And thankfully(!) for my great mother and elder sister living in England, that I wasn’t sent there. Otherwise, I will be probably be waking me every morning with the word Ohayogazaimasu to own little family today (by the way, no disrespect to you Tun. My own father was also a Japonophile, as he brought Tokyo-based OISCA into Malaysia after meeting Dr. Yoshiko Nakano the then-president). So, a 500-years old Cambridge boarding school instead was my destination. And WHAT a culture shock that was too.. I knew television English, but England was simply on a different level(!) However, it took me a solid 6 months to get up to gears with my new footballing classmates, in British English of course. Dictionary in hand, anything is possible if you are forced to do speak(!) The rest is history, as I turned Anglophile and today my family’s first language is English, but everyone also excels in school BM.

So, the point is, the younger one begins in language, the most one can get out of it.

Just a note on the NEP, though. I may have been scathing in my criticism on the official government policy for Malay/Bumiputera community. I must admit that, without the NEP, the 1969 situation could not possibly have been reversed. It is better to have some wealth than not to have any wealth at all. This is the good situation and achievement that we see today.

Nonetheless, the criticisms on the NEP remain valid, too(!)

  15. Salam sejahtera Tun,

Berdaulatkah Bahasa Melayu selepas PPSMI diamansuhkan sejak 2012? Hakikatnya bahasa kebangsaan dibangsatkan sehina-hinanya.

Penguatkuasaan pengunaan bahasa kebangsaan bagaikan tidak ujud. Bahasa Inggeris dan “bahasa-bahasa lain” digunakan sewenang-wenangnya, di papan-papan iklan, papan kenyataan di bangunan-bangunan kerajaan, laman sesawang kementerian MOF, MOH, MOA, MOE, , surat-menyurat, siaran-siaran rasmi kerajaan, ucapan dan kenyataan menteri, nama-nama agensi kerajaan RTC, UTC. Lihat nama-nama untuk taman perumahan maupun pangsapuri, Shaftsbury Avenue dimana?..Terlalu panjang untuk disenaraikan.

Dimana “pejuang Bahasa kebangsaan”, “pejuang perkara 152”, para cendekiawan?

Bercakap tentang PPSMI, saya amat bersetuju supaya ia diwujudkan kembali.

Ia cuma satu ‘bonus’.

    Terima kasih Tun.

    – Semoga Allah SWT sentiasa merahmati Tun sekeluarga –

  17. Assalamualaikum Tun.

  18. TY Twinpeaks!

    Tun

Actually kat my house kami cakap orang putih juga. Cucu2 pun. My blog I tak cakap Melayu sebab audience I bukan semua orang Melayu. Kalau Melayu pun mereka very educated.

I ingat lama dulu kat RHB ada seorang nama Melayu Islam cukup pandai Technical Analysis. Kira dia predict boleh 90% ngam ngam. Membaca chart bukanlah kerja mudah. Hubby I pandailah sebab dulu dia involve dalam product online trading under BERNAMA.

I ada kenalan Cina Sarawak dia bukan main cuba to be perfect dalam bacaan chart tapi dapat 75% correct pun kira cukup bagus. Nak 100%, sukar la nak buat.

Kalau long term investors selalu mereka guna TA untuk masuk beli, simpan ikut FA. But ada juga theme play, depending on the mood of the big investors. But I am happy bila IDSS tiada lagi. Because stocks susah nak naik, bila ada short sellers asyik bet stocks jatuh. Buat masa ini tiada IDSS if I’m not mistaken until end of the month.

Sekitar Shah Alam I lihat ramai orang Melayu cakap orang putih, malah dengan anak kecil mereka. Balik kampung, orang tua I dah tiada, tak pasti samada orang Perak cakap orang putih kah?

  19. Tun,

It is amusing that through the years of your journey through the Malaysian political adventurism landscape that you have been called all types of names by your detractors. One day, they write tomes on your bad deeds. Another day the same licked your boots. And on the third day, they become your detractors again pouring the finest vitriol on your head from behind your back. You may agree with me that this is the occupational hazard common to Malaysian politicians !

Who has the Principles ? You or them ? As hardened political adventurers, the detractors seemed to have their mind-sets encased in concrete of the finest quality ! They could not see that the Malaysian form of Democracy is the most democratic in the World ! In other words, anything goes or can happen ! Or any one who is approved by the Constitution may become the Prime Minister. As a Constitutionalist since 1954, I am all for this. Please note even a Royal Ruler may be a Prime Minister but not vice-versa ! May be one day, this idea becomes a reality in the rough and tumble of Malaysian Politics !

However that aside, there is no mystery in the study of English, like Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, Tamil or other languages of the World. The acquisition of any language may be achieved in 3 months given the desire or the motivation. It is the labelling of a language by politicisation which damage its image. But to pick on any language by any one, it is the unkindest cut of all. In our beloved Malaysia today, what better achievement than for all to know Bahasa Melayu and another language like English, French, German, Russian, Mandarin, Tamil etc. From my own experience, it is easy to learn any language.

I began to study Classical Cantonese, followed by English. Then Hindi, Urdu and Anglo-Indian English. Subsequently, English, Latin and Classical Cantonese. Finally, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin. All these hodgepodge of languages made me a better person in understanding and dealing with others to this day through a common medium !

I am still a chinaman ! Once upon a time, I was a yellow banana too. Vide. Chou En-lai. 1956.

If I remember correctly, it was alleged that the Minister of Education in 1969 changed the Federal Policy and disappeared into the Sarawakan woods and could not be found by the Tunku ! Did this fellow by his own and personal act without Cabinet approval ruined the socio-economic prospects of an emerging Nation ? A World which is highly competitive in garnering Wealth through Trade which requires an essential and common form of communication easily understood by all ! As far as I know, all countries put a great emphasis on the study of English. It is common today for a person outside of Malaysia to know at least 2 languages.

My view is that there should be a choice for all to study Bahasa Melayu being compulsory, English, German, French, German, Russian, Mandarin, Tamil etc. The choice begins in the Primary schools. Lessons in Science and Mathematics naturally follow.

Considering the gigantic squandering of Public funds by those responsible in recent years, the opportunity given to all to study English, French, German, Russian, Mandarin, Tamil etc is comparatively but a small price to pay for the immense returns from this tiny investment in human capital in the future. It is easy to learn any language when a person is young ! Vide UN, IMF and World Bank Annual Reports. RM 1.3 Trillion were transferred overseas from 2002 to 2018. The Private Sector does not have so much money ! When a political side-kick died, he had RM 2 Billion in his bank.

Malaysia Boleh Tun as always. No problem. The Government has the duty to create a level playing field in Education so that any person may achieve Wealth through his or her own efforts and not through stealing etc. in later life because of the lack of opportunities given when they were young.

  22. sambung sikit hal politik

Orang UMNO pula janganlah terlalu idola sangat.

OK makan time, hari ini nak tapau nasi kandar Kedah, jom!

  23. Salam Tun Mahathir

Yup I setuju. Dalam Bahasa Inggeris ya, Menteri Pendidikan.

I teringat zaman my son kecil, dia tak suka subject maths, katanya memang orang Melayu lemah dalam subject ini. I marah dia, I kata, kan you pun sama macam mereka, ada mata, ada telinga, ada otak, kalau mereka boleh kenapa you tidak boleh.

Walau anak2 I semua bukan super pandai dalam maths tapi mereka tahu untung rugi. Doing the right thing untuk hidup. I pernah beritahu Tun, anak2 perempuan I semua niaga online, termasuk anak sedara, sedara mara yang lain. Kalau tak pandai mengira lagu mana nak niaga, kan. Small business tapi pada duduk diam2 tak buat duit, kan baik buat duit. Masa itu emas. Usahlah dibuang begitu saja.

Even dentist I pun orang Melayu, pakar dental implant lagi, orang putih Australia pun datang belajar dengannya.

Kalau Tun kurang arif tentang ini, mungkin sebab Tun sering dikelilingi oleh orang bukan Melayu. I felt the same way ketika I tinggal di Subang Jaya. Bangsa lain superior than my own bangsa.

Tun tau tak ramai orang Melayu yang pandai baca stocks technical chart. Their prediction lebih accurate. Bukan senang nak baca, kena pandai kira2 juga. Zaman sekarang stock market bukan sama macam zaman dulu. Sekarang retail investors adalah orang professional bukan lagi nyonya pasar or apek kebun sayur.

Ok bab politik, syukur alhamdulillah.

As for anak Tun, sebenarnya kalau rasa uncomfortable jadi politician its ok jadi businessman saja. After all Tun lama dulu jadi PM, contacts untuk business sure banyak. Cuma Tun janganlah terlalu laser sampai anak Tun hilang business macam kat UK aritu over hidung Jews.

Write a book, have fun with your wife and cucu. Politik usahlah dicampur2 lagi. As for UMNO walau pemimipin tertentu pernah berjasa besar, dah kena court kes, ada baiknya tolak mereka, usahlah ikut stail PKR. Ramai orang Melayu lain, beri mereka peluang. Nak jadi kerajaan biarlah bersih, ya.

    OK chow, jangan gaduh2 lagi!

    Salam Tun,

    1. What AI and PKR did when they rejected you as PM9 candidate is akin to a losing team in a football league that insisted they be declared the Champion!

    2. Since they could not do so, they created their own league, and declared themselves the Champion.

    3. Meantime, you assemble a solid team by selecting good players from other teams to defeat those teams that are consisted of corrupt and dirty players.

    4. In no time, your team will be celebrated and loved by the spectatorrs.

    5. Your team will play soccer, fair and square, with entertaining the spectators with good soccer, as its ultimate aims. Overtime, your stadium will be filled with joyous spectators again with excellent ticket receipts to boot.

    6. As for the losing teams, let them play catch-up. For those dirty and corrupt players, let the authorities suspend/penalise them, for life.

    7. As for AI/PKR team, let them continue to ‘syiok sendiri,’ as the Ultimate Champion in their own little soccer league.

    8. Being a winning coach is sometimes better than being good players, as many have failed to even be a player!

    Terima kaseh, Tun. Wassalam.

P.s. As for Math and Science, I agree with you fully that those subjects have to be taught in English. Learning English will not make Malays become Christians. Similarly, learning Jawi wiil not make non-Muslims become Muslims.

MASTERING IN JAWI CAN GUARANTEE ME, NON MUSLIM, THE CHAIRMAN POST IN EPF, SOCSO AND BANK NEGARA POSITIONS, TIRED?

  26. Assalammualaikum Tun

  28. THIS TOPIK OF ‘SAINS DAN MATEMATIK’ FOCUS ON PRINTED COPIES FOR NATIONAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATES AT STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS TO SEDAPKAN HATI PEMBELA, I MEAN, RACIST HARDCORE, BAHASA MELAYU NASIONALIST TO MAKE THEM FEEL SELAMAT AND HAPPY ON PAPER ONLY.

NEVERTHELESS, I DONT CARE WHAT THESE PEMBELA, I MEAN HARDCORE RACISTS, BAHASA MELAYU HAVE IN MIND SINCE I KNOW THEY CAN NEVER MASTER ‘UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE’ WHEN THEY THEIR PUT THEIR RACIST, I MEAN, ISTIMEWA, QUOTA, ABOVE OTHER RACES.

  29. On English language for technology.

Moore’s Law states that (on average) computing speed doubles every two years and the old computer price halves every two years. That means technicians need to keep up with latest computer technology on a daily basis. Just imagine the amount of knowledge that needs to be translated into BM every day from English.. who is willing to that(?!). It is much easier just to read off the internet if you understand English. How many Malaysian university engineering graduates understand English in detail today? How many of the annual intakes into computer engineering courses at local universities can speak fluent English?

It all boils down to the primary school curriculum. By the time they enter secondary school, they should already be speaking fluent English on a daily basis. It would greatly help if Malay household speak English with their kids daily too. Schools can only teach grammar and writing, but spoken English is a daily habit. Either you speak or you don’t(!).

If Malays can speak fluent English, that alone will make them very competitive against all others in this country. Then they won’t need government help anymore. They are independent(!).

  30. Dear Tun Dr Mahathir,
Please allow me to repost a comment by Sharudin Jamal
    http://chedet.cc/?p=2905#comment-143086

[Chedet is a hardy Old Coot. However he is a man with a big heart. Otherwise he cannot have so many children and adopted a couple on the side.

He likes people who are smart AND hardworking. The irony is he spent much of his energy trying to change the Malays. He tried the instant noodle approach and *no[t] he is seeing the colossal effect. Malays are lazy. I can say this because I am part Malay. So what I’m saying is I am part guilty of that too. Compares to the Chinese, the Malays are mares next to the thoroughbreds

*By now you realize that any misspelling is a cipher by external party.
Being lazy is fine, but they are a bunch of opportunists. The Malays LOOOVE easy money; MLM, get rich quick schemes, passive investments, taking bribes, Mr 10% and what have you.

Chedet on the other had closed one eye on all these because he wanted to see quick result. To him it is OK to have a few who are rich (with whatever means) because the wealth will trickle down to the masses eventually. Unfortunately these greedy Malays hogs the wealth to themselves. It only trickle within their circles; family, kin and cronies. Even scholarships and loans are for the taking of the greedy Malay elitists.

So in a way it is Chedet who created the monsters that we have now. During his 22 years reign, the Malays were pampered by handouts and subsidies. Those in the ruling normally have one hand on the policies and another hand on the projects. If you watch Malay drama, it is always about a rich Datuk or his kin involving in multi-million mega project.

Poor Chedet. He is good at giving the fish but not at showing how to fish.

What I like to see is Chedet acting as the pacesetter for a Malaysian Malaysia. I like the concept of Bangsa Malaysia as in Malay Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian and Indian Malaysian. I however don’t want to see the Malays favored over the other races. It should be egalitarian in nature because we are in a racial cauldron of multiple ethnicity. Our children are now hybrids.]

To Chedet blog readers my opinions what had gone wrong with Malaysians:
    By championing
    -backdoor government, democracy and people mandate were murdered, unbridled ‘cash is king’ and ‘abuse of power’ are inevitable;
    – backdoor policy, meritocracy and prosperity were killed, while white collar crooks and high-level traitors were created;
    – backdoor institutions, quality education and universal moral values became a fantasy, sinful corruption and cultural erosion became unstoppable;
    -race and religion supremacy, justice and universal human rights were trampled, while bigotry, intolerant, extremism and injustice are the order of the day;
-greed and power, fairness and rule of law were destroyed, while insatiable lust and sexual desire rule the day.

I myself do not wish Tun Mahathir to come back as our 9th PM, if possible Tun should be appointed as Minister Mentor and head the Education Reform as Tun still has the unfulfilled promises made to Tun’s alma mater Sultan Abdul Hamid College’s (SAHC)
    https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2018/12/21/for-education-overhaul-pm-moots-cutting-back-on-religion-studies/1705356

[To address the problem of schools being overly-focused on religion, Dr Mahathir said the timetable and curriculum in schools would be changed.

“Because of that, we are going to change the timetable and curriculum in the schools, we will still study religion, but not all periods in one day, maybe one or two periods in a week,” he said.

“But we need to master all the other subjects, because if we want to progress, Malaysians must be well-educated, not only in reciting Quran, but also in other languages. If we don’t, we are going to be very backward,” he said.

“So the school curriculum will be changed and modified, so that now we will have national schools that will teach everybody all the important subjects that will be useful for them when they mature and become independent individuals,” he said.

Dr Mahathir said Malaysia is currently going through a difficult phase and needs development, adding that the country needs well-educated people and those who are able to interact with others and speak up for the nation.

“We have to work very hard in order to catch up with other people.

“And although we have to say our prayers, but we also need to spend a good time on mastering all the other subjects that are taught in the school,” he said.

In his speech, Dr Mahathir also said that Malaysians were formerly known to have good command of the English language.

Dr Mahathir encouraged Malaysians to master English which he described as a “universal language” and crucial for acquiring new knowledge to help the country progress, saying that learning the language would not diminish their Malay or Malaysian identity.

The Kedah-born Dr Mahathir was speaking at the dinner organised by the Sultan Abdul Hamid Old Collegians Association (Sahoca) KL, of which he is also lifetime president.

This year also marks the 110th anniversary of the SAHC, where his father Mohamad Iskandar was its first principal when the school was then known as the Government English School.]

    Thank you

    Yours truly,
    SS LEE
