Pokok yang berbunga lebat dan berwarna warni di sekitar Putrajaya dan Taman-taman seluruh negara ialah: Tabebuia pentaphylla (merah jambu), Tabebuia rosea ( Putih ) dan Tabebuia argentea ( kuning). Pokok ini diimport dari luar negara. Spesies Tabebuia ini hanya berbunga apabila musim panas saperti yang berlaku sekarang. Semua pokok-pokok ini dibiakkan di Thailand, kemudian dibeli dan dibawa ke Malaysia serta ditanam secara ” instant planting”. Begitu juga pokok-pokok yang lain yang ditanam di Malaysia adalah diimport dari Thailand sehingga spesies yang terdapat di taman-taman kita terdiri daripada 90% pokok yang diimport. Pokok-pokok asli Malaysia semakin hari semakin pupus dan tidak dimajukan sebagai tanaman.
Saya pernah mencadangkan sebuah taman di Putrajaya ia itu TAMAN PANCARONA. Spesies pokok terdiri daripada pokok tempatan yang mempunyai bunga dan pucuk yang berwarna warni. Malangnya spesies pokok yang dicadang tidak dapat dicari, walaupun sinarai nama pokok telah diberi.
Saya juga telah mencadang sebuah taman yang terdiri daripada spesies Gimnosperma ( Gymnosperm ) ia itu spesies “Zaman Jurassic ” yang tidak berbunga tetapi mempunyai kon (con). Evolusi pokok-pokok ini terdapat juga di sekitar Malaysia. Taman ini dipanggil TAMAN SAUJANA HIJAU. Saya telah mencadangkan diberi nama TAMAN GIMNOSPERM, oleh sebab taman ini ialah satu-satunya taman yang unik yang terdapat di Malaysia. Malang sekali taman ini tidak dimajukan dengan baik.
Satu lagi Taman, ia itu TAMAN BOTANI PUTRAJAYA tidak dimajukan mengikut konsep Taman botani. Taman yang dimajukan berupa taman hiasan sahaja dan sudah lama terbangkalai. Dimanakah pokok palma Johannesteijsmannia perakensies yang menjadi lambang ( emblem ) Taman Botani? Dimanakah Herbarium negara yang telah dicadangkan.
Mengikut perancangan asal Taman Botani merupakan ” Mother” bagi semua taman-taman di Putrajaya.
Dengar cerita Taman Botani ini sedang dimajukan pula sebagai Taman Etnobotani. Saya telah menyemak spesies pokok yang hendak ditanam. Spesiesnya bukan tergolong dalam spesies konsep etnobotani Melayu tetapi spesies yang diimport yang tidak ada kena mengena dengan etnik Melayu.
Tun, mengapakah pembangunan Taman-Taman dimajukan oleh gulungan jurutera dan Landscape architect. Mengapakah Saintis saperti botanists, agronomists, Horticulturists, ecologists dll tidak diberi tanggung jawab dalam membangunankan taman-taman seterusnya meneruskan concept green Malaysia.

These trees, called Tecoma trees or Tebuyia rosea (scientific name) is native to South America. They bloom during the hot and dry weather, twice a year. I wonder what happened to our our native trees, like Flame of the forest, yellow flame, etc. I’am sure some of our local trees could be equally beautiful if they planted together. Like cars, if we use local trees we may save on foreign exchange.

How many of us remember the wayside trees of Malaya and Malaysia before the construction of the multitude of highways which stamped their mark on this beautiful land ?
I remember at certain seasons of the year, if any, as we raced along the main trunk road or the B roads of the land, suddenly we would come across a Flame of the Forest in full bloom or another majestic tree with its myriad of pale purple flowers. Even in the old Lake Gardens of Kuala Lumpur or the Singapore Island Golf Club, we could view the slow growing tree, the tembusu in bloom. Such is the beauty of our beloved Malaysia even only our hardened or not hardened politicians have time to view this beauty of beauties, the tree, as created by God.
Yes, Tun ! In this bountiful land populated by peoples from different civilizations now living in peace, harmony and prosperity, it is good to hear from you on a topic which may only be discerned by a trained physician’s eye. It is good also that we hear from someone who is you, the creator of Putrajaya, Tioman Islands, Langkawi and other beauty spots for the relaxation and leisure lifestyle of the denizens of the World.

And we now have the benefit of his knowledge as a botanist and an expert in agro-economics. He was one of your very few close aides who did not let you down !
Yes Tun ! This is a wondrous land in which we must always safeguard our heritage, our legacy and our Malaysian Democracy always. Because there are always, people who want more and more of everything which make those responsible to distribute the economic cake all the more difficult. And we must not forget also those jealous rivals and interlopers with tons of money every ready to destroy our peaceful and idyllic ways without reason.
