1. Democracy is a great system, perhaps the best system for governing a country ever invented by man.
2. What can be better than a government of the people, by the people, for the people. And most of the developed countries are democratic, obviously benefiting from the system.
3. Does this mean that all countries which are governed democratically will be stable, prosperous and developed? The great democracies of the West seem to think so. Such is their faith in the system that they are willing to kill and destroy in order to promote democracy. They have now decided to bring about regime change in order to democratise the undemocratic countries. If you resist democratisation they will kill you and destroy your country. And so they did in Iraq and are doing so in the Arab countries and elsewhere.
4. It is assumed that the people, or at least the majority of the people would be wise enough to choose the most capable people to rule them. Unfortunately the people do not always choose the most capable. They may be influenced by race, religion, ideology and a host of other factors when electing their governments.
5. They may also choose because of money. In fact in most cases their choices are based on immediate personal gain rather than national interest.
6. Because of all these democracy has often failed to provide countries with good governance. Indeed it may result in dividing the people into parties and groups and pit them against each other.
7. If there are only two parties it is possible for one or the other to achieve a clear majority and to form the Government. But when there are more than two, it is entirely possible for no one party getting a clear majority of the seats in the legislature to form a Government.
8. In a two party system a small majority may weaken the Government due to fear of defection by its members. Only a Government with a big majority can provide stable and effective Governments.
9. As stated above when there are numerous parties it is likely that none would achieve a majority (50%+) to form the Government. A coalition may need to be formed in order to achieve a majority. Such a post-election coalition Government would always be threatened by defections of a coalition partner and so losing the majority. The Government would thus always be weak and unstable.
10. However, a pre-election coalition stands a better chance of winning a good majority especially if the coalition acts as a party fielding only one candidate in each constituency.
11. When this is done and the single coalition candidate is supported by all the coalition members it is likely that he will win. The chances are good for the coalition to win enough seats to form the Government. Such a coalition would be more stable and strong.
12. In Malaysia the Alliance and then the National Front coalitions which at times had as many as 14 parties have won in all the 14 elections held since independence. Such has been the success of the pre-election coalition formula that the opposition parties, despite their deep differences have decided to form their own coalition. The result is that in Malaysia there is now effectively a two-party system operating, It is therefore possible for a majority to be achieved by one or the other coalition in elections.
13. So far so good. But a basic principle in elections is for the loser to accept losing, to accept the result of the polls and wait for the next election. This is what happens in mature democracies. But parties in new democracies seem quite unable to accept losing. They dispute the result and they resort to undemocratic ways to overthrow the elected party or coalition.
14. Democracy upholds the rights of the minority. They must be protected. Therefore they are allowed to show their disappointment at losing in a variety of democratic ways. In Parliament they may stage walkouts when unable to block Government action. They may carry out active campaigning through the media and rallies to discredit the Government. Now they can make use of the alternative media to cause disaffection for the Government.
15. When sometimes they may resort to strikes and demonstrations.
16. All these are still permissible in a democracy. But now the strikes and street demonstrations have become so huge and prolonged as to paralyse the whole country.
17. In a non-democratic totalitarian state such massive demonstrations may be justified as there is no other way to change Governments. But now even when elections can determine changes in Governments, the losers in democratic elections have resorted to these disruptive acts.
18. We see in Egypt, Ukraine and even Thailand the opposition resorting to mass demonstrations in order to overthrow duly elected majority Governments. In Egypt and Ukraine the elected Government have been overthrown. Strangely even when new elections are agreed to by the majority elected Government, the minority opposition would not agree and choose to continue with street demonstrations. They claim the elections would be fraudulent.
19. The net result is continuous instability and sufferings by people and in particular the small businessmen. A situation akin to anarchy would prevail.
20. So far Malaysia has been spared the instability due to massive prolonged street demonstrations. But the signs are already there. Obviously there are Malaysians who would like to bring down the elected Government through demonstrations.
21. The series of Bersih demonstrations are obviously meant to excite public support to discredit the Government and eventually to bring it down. The Government is accused of cheating in previous elections so as to justify rejection of the coming elections should the Government party win. Massive and continuous demonstrations would then be held.
22. So far the numbers in the demonstrations are not big enough to paralyse the country. Though disruptive, the businesses, including the small street stalls have not been stopped. But the hope of the organisers of Bersih must be to attract millions to participate and to be daily affairs so that the usual daily life of the people would be disrupted.
23. A next step may be to occupy Government buildings.
24. The police would be provoked into taking violent actions. International news agencies and their television crew would then record the violence which would be broadcast throughout the world to discredit the majority elected Government. Of course violence on the part of the demonstrators would not be recorded or shown.
25. Malaysians have not responded to the call. Maybe they will in the future and Malaysia would join the ranks of unstable countries incapable of being governed and much less being developed.
26. The world needs to make up its mind. Do we elect Government by voting or do we install Government through street demonstrations?
27. Democracy as we can see is not perfect. But it is by far the best system of Government that we have. But like all systems, abuses can negate the objective.
28. If democracy is to survive and to serve the purpose for which it is devised, there must be some acceptance of the limits to the freedom that we consider democratic.
29. Free speech, free press, demonstrations and strikes must be circumscribed to some degree so that they will not destroy democracies in the name of democracy.

For the resident and racist slimy spineless worm who goes under the moniker HBT456 who on 9 May 2014 at 6.49 a.m. commented :-
‘ You are a disgrace to malaysian, especially to chinese race because of the surname you carry, pakcik mubarak chan.’
I dedicate this to you, little slimy spineless worm
Near the end of my life’s journey

The best religion in our beloved country
And the World !

Calling MNM, do not be small minded, the rocket sicientist from Singapore (he was the smart guy who said that Malaysia made a profit out of 2 (depreciated) sens per liter, yusof, saxykorma, the resident slimy and spineless worm etc.
This is a good weekend, a very good weekend to review the achievements of the great and brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 17 (at least) failed Policies for Singapore and your humble goodself during your tenure as our beloved country’s leader. To assess, we cast the facts against my THREE GOLDEN ATTRIBUTES TO BE A PRIME MINISTER.
1. COMMONSENSE
.
Singapore : The 2 child Policy of the 1970s and 1980s was a real killer. The early 1970 destruction of places of worship was another. The perfunctory Judiciary was intended to put all in prison which also permits a small Police Force of maybe only 4,000. There was no vision on how the huge military is going to end up. plus the special bomb disposal squad for the 0.001% elite. The guided democracy policy for all so adopted maybe OK with one leadership during that time. As we can now see, ossification of the mind sets in. Arrogance and superior comples founded the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP in 1966. Somebody must have read too many spy novels to spy on the sexual peccadilloes of the abang-adeks since 1972 and did not expect to get caught. To get away with the 1962 Water Agreement was a cinch. But to get away with the poisoned chalice, TPPA to kill our beloved Malaysia, the Malays and their heritage and legacies, the Chinese and the Indians and all, it is ONE TOO MANY !
The above mentioned are only a few non-starters so selected.
Malaysia. A living example of a daily experiment in politics and social life-style of our Malaysian Democracy with a human touch. The ball is in the pro-Singapreans court to give just one example of Policy failure as compared with the WORLD CLASS Singapore. The Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a Malay, administered through commonsense. He could also think out of a box.
2. THE ABILITY TO THINK OUT OF A BOX
Singapore. The transformation of the sleepy entreport of Singapore into the glittering World Class Singapore today was according to the Singapore Government Adviser, Dr Alfred Winsemius’s book written between 1961-84. The development of human resources which was left to the Singapore Government was completely screwed up as confirmed by the drop in indigenous population 1959 – 100%. 2013 – 62%. 2030 – 45%. Vide Singapore Government White Paper on Population. 2013. Shades of Hitler !
Malaysia. During Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s 22 years Administration, the following ideas flowed out of the box :-
i) The establishment of the Malay Middle Inome Group ( 7 million souls by now ) which brought up the non-Malay Middle Income Group. A modernising and humane transformation which should be rewarded by the Nobel Prize. This Golden Mean was bolstered up by the Malay PRIVATE BIG BUSINESSES AND NOT THE GLCs OF TODAY MANNED BY CIVIL SERVANTS WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND DO NOT BENEFIT THE MALAYS, BUMIPUTRAS AND ALL.
ii) A huge network of highways
iii) New resorts established eg. Langkawi, Pangkor, Perhentian, Sarawak Highlands, etc.
iv) Higher education promoted and encouraged.
v) Private sector business encouraged to flourish
vi) KLCC, KLIA, Formula 1 ( even Singapore copied ), Putrajaya etc.
vii) The Health System was left untouched. Yet a MCA flunkey tried to undo the whole thing for some rich individuals benefit as recently as just 2 years ago.
viii) The Government did not go to the ICJ to deliver Pulau Batu Putih which is now recorded in history. Malaysia is the only country in the World which willing gave away its territorities without a fight.
ix) No secret negotiations done behing the Dewan Rakyat’s back like the TPPA.
x) Miscellaneous.
3. COMPASSION
Singapore. When the official policy is to make money based on money, money, money, it is impossible to have compassion.
Malaysia. There was too much of it. This was why sometimes there seemed to be no enforcement. But then, Islam is the official religion of the Federation and deserves to be practised with compassion. But the recalcitrants have short memories and thought no one knew about their wanton acts. Thanks to the good Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad – a Great Statesman of Asia and the World !

Those pro-Singapore MNM, Do not be small minde, the rocket scientist from Singapore, yusof, saxykumar, that resident slimy spineless worm, etc. would be interested to hear what I can see from my special crystal ball on the destiny of Singapore in 25 years time when the great and brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his at least 17 failed Policies for Singapore would be a distant dream.
1. Singapore may join the great United States as the 53rd State of the Union. Parts of the Straits of Johor maybe filled up so that the boundary between Malaysia and the 53rd State would be only a monsson drain and the broder demarcated by a chain-link fence. We can hail our American neighbours ‘ Selamat Pagi, Amerika ‘ ! across the fence every morning.
2. Singapore becomes a British Crown Colony again. The British might been keen for the union with the frugal Scots straining to leave the United Kingdom.
3. Singapore re-merges with Malaysia. An ancient saying, ‘ A good horse does not return to old pastures !’
However, this is the most liklye happening to come. By 2030, Singapore’s indigenous population down to 45%. Unlike the Principality of Monaca or the Cantons of Switzerland, the stacking up of millions of foreign mult-millionaires to prop up the GDP will collapse sooner or later.
4. Singapore retains status quo. The huge military built-up from the past to fend off virtual enemies and defend the GDP multi-millionaires does not make sense in 25 years time. It might make a lot of sense defending the 0.001% ruling elite now because in 25 years time in a population of 6 million, only 2 millions are the original Singaporeans. From this, if we deduct 20% aged and 20% children, we have 1.2 millions adult indigenous Singaporeans within a total population of 6 millions. Either way the true Singaporeans will be the servants or slaves of others in time because the heavy weight of the mighty military machine and the public services expenditure will collapse as surely as the sun rises. Some pundits had worked out in 1970 that it takes 200 educated elite to administer 2 million Singaporeans.
BUT THERE IS AN EVEN CHANCE FOR SINGAPORE TO RETAIN STATUS QUO IF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA SIGNS THE TPPA TO COMMIT SUICIDE FOR OUR NATION, THE MALAYS AND THEIR HERITAGE AND LEGACIES, THE CHINESE, THE INDIANS AND ALL WHO WILL GET NOTHING.
What is the future for the Singaporeans in 25 years time against the phalanx of ultra-rich denizens of foreign origin. ? Even at the proportion of 2 million Singaporeans against 4 million GDP boosing foreigners ?
The answer is bleak, very bleak for the ordinary Singaporean.
MERITOCRACY KILLED THE GOOSE WHICH LAID THE GOLDEN EGG in the interests of the 1% ruling elite.
MAN PROPOSES. GOD DISPOSES.
And China, she will take her time and at the end say, ‘NO’. to carry a barren island the size of the Isle of Wight. Why ? The Isthmus of Kra would have been built and in operation for many years. And the North-West Passage fully developed which will take away Singapore’s Asia trade by at least 30%.
Well, uncle mubarak chan, you made your choice to expel singapore out from malaya. Since you are happy with what you have, fine. I will like to hear your voice in supporting ISMA as highly educated chinese since you hate and look down on chinese so much in thus blog. At least, tun dr mm told ISMA to shut up in malaysian insider.

I began commenting on your distinguished Blog since August 2011. To this day, no one has brought up a single shred of evidence or fact that the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 17 failed Policies is great. His supporters only resorted to sedition, abuse, vulgarity, personal attacks, etc to push home their point.
The Opposition with this type of supporters who are unruly and uncouth expect to rule over all decent Malaysians from Putrajaya ?
Tun
Since the he-she has become personally abusive, I like to present the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew’s 17th failed Policy for Singapore for he-she edification.
17. The high cost of building up a full-fledged military from 1972 with 300,000 active reservists, aging brigades of Gurkhas, F-35s, Apaches, AWACS, 9 submarines, corvettes, rusting tanks, drones, spies, secret caverns, bomb-proofed buildings, S$2 billion strategic water reserves, etc. against friendly neighbours the Indonesians and the Malays who had never raised a voice in anger. And for the record, Malaysia is the only country in the World who lost territory without a fight !
Tun
There is a saying that ‘Brilliance is sometimes overshadowed by Idiocy ! ‘ For those blabber-mouthed who think everything is great except our beloved Malaysia, the Malays, the believers, the sensible and loyal Chinese, Indians and all, here is a reminder that there are morre Idiots in the Opposition than the BN as led by the UMNO with the 15 component parties.
1. In 1997, if the DPM took a holiday with his family to Disneyland, he would have returned as the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia. Unfortunately, he took the advice of his kitchen cabinet who are still with the BN and all those events which should not have taken place, became reality. ONE EASY STEP.
2. In 2008, if the 32 seats were sorted out BEFORE the 12th General Elections and not AFTER, the Opposition would have already won 2 General Elections by now. They forgot the Khazanah would be in their hands for free.
3. In 2013, if the Opposition boycotted the 13th General Elections and declared a 100 day fast ensconced in the 1st Class Ward of the Kuala Lumpur Gereral Hospital and permitted the BN to win 100% of the seats with 49% votes, they would have been in control of Putrajaya for 12 months already.
But now it is too late. The water has gone under the bridge and only mad dogs are left behind to bark on this distinguished Blog, even the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 16 failed Policies for Singapore will soon be a memory !
MAN PROPOSES. GOD DISPOSES.
Tun
Willy-nilly HockBengTeohhalfpastsic has committed SEDITION on this distinguished Blog with a personal attack on me. Shame !
The spineless worms of the Opposition are very fond of being abusive and vulgar. I told them off in the Malaysia Chronicles which employed sub-continent types to victimise, vulgarise, abuse etc fair comment. I beleive they have now pulled up their socks after I told them off.
As for he/she HockBengTeohhalfpastsic, to redeem myself, here are the 16 failed Policies of the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew specailly for you.
1. Money was used as an investment of Foreign Policy in Thailand which resulted in the deaths, maiming and injuries to innocent men, women and children. Vide. Thaksin. Shinawatra. Yingluck.
2. US$ 108 Billions of the CPF Trust money was lost on Wall Street in October 2008 by the dysfunctional meritocrats with the smartest fellow on top. Vide. Channelnewasia. Lee Kuan Yew. November 2008. All Singaporean Blogs. Financial Times London. Gillian Tett. April 2010.
3. The 2-child Family Policy of 1970s and 1980s. When Lee Kuan Yew took power, there was 100% indigenous Singaporeans. 2013 – 62%, 2030 – 45%. Vide Singapore Government White Paper on Population
4. Humanity and Multiculturalism never practised. Vide Channelnewsasia. 2011. The Curry Smell Tribunal. The 188 bus drivers strike. The toilet fights. etc.
5. A perfunctory Judiciary system. Vide Dr Chee. Tan Koon Swan. Aussie, Malaysian, German drug mules. Dr Woffles Wu. Shaw – If the Police stopped at 1, he would not be in trouble. But they stopped at 51, poor girl. etc.etc.
6. 5,000 pigs imported daily. The flower nurseries contracts. The King of the Road. The sale of Kim Eng Securities to Maybank. etc.etc.
7. A World class transportation system not established. Vide. Mahubani. Distinguished diplomat and academic.
8. The highest paid Ministers in the World for a one-street town. Vide. Warren Buffet.
9. The perennial breakdowns in the MRT.
10. The spying on the abang-adeks, neighbours etc sexual peccadilloes since 1972. Vide Wikileaks.
11. The Little India Riots and the Rex Cinemas 100 sit-ins. Vide Channelnewsasia December 2012.
12. The founding of the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP in 1966 which was in Opposition for 48 years.
13. The dismantling of the dysfunctional meritocratic pyramid with the smartest fellow on top. Two Ministers announced in 2013 that in future, academic qualifications will be considered together with hidden talents when applicants are considered for jobs or promotions. Kudos for correcting a wrong.
14. The failure of the policy to conquer and control Malaysia to save the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew legacy for Singaporeans who were screwed down since 1959.
15. The brilliant Lee Kuan Yew came into power in 1959. He is still there. During this period, Malaysia had 6 democratically elected Prime Ministeers.
16. The failure of the TPPA which was inspired and created by Singapore in 2006 to save itself as a viable State.
Tun
I will always produce facts on the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew and his 16 Policy failures for Singapore because the truth must be told. Fact are facts.
The more abuse is heaped on me only underlines that I am right with my facts.
You cna now see the difference between yourself as a distinguished Statesman of Asia and the World and those who resort to underhand tricks like spying on abang-adeks’ sexual peccadilloes since 1972. The information is not only passed onto to Third Parties but ended up in ‘Profiles of Foreign Personalities’ files which were available before every important meeting.
The conflagration in our friends’ Thailand is now an indelible mark in the annals of World history.
This is one reason why we must give our all to stop this nonsense from happening in our beloved Malaysia – spies, swallows, ducks, tycoons, journalisst, civil servants, 1962 Water Agreement, TPPA, Pulau Batu Putih, low hanging fruits, PAP cadre as Chief Editor, the New Straits Times. etc.etc..
Tun
For the godless HockBengTeohhalfpastsi who hides cowardly behind an anonym. For want of facts, you have become a typical spineless Oppostion worm and become abusive.
WHO APPOINTED YOU TO BE THE ARBITER OF THE CHINESE RACE OR ANY RACE FOR THAT MATTER ?
You are a disgrace to malaysian, especially to chinese race because of the surname you carry, pakcik mubarak chan.
Tun
An independent source of the Singapore inspired and promoted TPPA. Singapore is the only country in this negotiating body of many nations which never protested because it is their creation in 2006 to dilddle our beloved Malaysia and the Malays for their own embattled survival.

The street demonstrations in KL is not violence like those in the past. This show that leaders of the opposition parties and PDRM have learned their lesson hard.

Today, black american can be president of the usa has proven that skin color does not matter as long as he or she can capture the dreams of the american masses. It took more than 10 yeras for the elected american president mr obama, to announce the result of expensive and long war battles in afghan and iraq to nail osama down. When I look at this issue, no matter what happened in the past wars, it is beastly to kill so many civilians for the seek of revenge to show their militant power. Just because we are muslim majority population, we must sympathize muslim like osama? Yes, mr obama made it happens, and americans do not need to engage wars for many generations to come. Will our next elected pm make it happen not to bribe voters with taxpayer monies to get elected for kany generation to come?
Sibotak, LKY has never left the seat for his son, please get that clear. His son made it because he works hard enough to prove his capability to pap members, and he was appointed by the 2nd pm of singapore to hold the ministerial responsibilites to prove h7s worth. I am wondering, if singapore is not lead by LKY, the hakka, will singapore be another penang? If malaysia is not lead by MM, mamak, will malaysia still remain a poor agriculture country with lots of idle land?

Probably it will make a more pleasing offer to all.
I respect LYK because he is a man of his word. He resigned officially, and he will talk by invitation only because he truly respect the chair of president cum pm of singapore. Salam Tun,
Well Written, observer. I hope Tun notice your comment and I think you hit the nail on the head. I completely agree with your 3-points with a small minor comment/amendment – I think DCA head did pretty good in comparison to the head of military/navy in which his “manglish” is just going to be an eye-opener to the rest of the world.

1. I agree that Democracy is perhaps the best system that we have today with some shortcomings. But these shortcomings are because of some people manipulating the election system to their advantage (crippling the effectiveness of system). This is probably because we think that some people might make the wrong selection and when there is not a clear big majority, the ones in power could influence it a little bit. 🙂
2. In this article, it is mentioned “Unfortunately the people do not always choose the most capable.” This is wrong unless “the people” refers to the warlords in each political parties.
3. A two party system is good way moving forward. Agreed.
4. Now, let’s go into Street Demonstration which is the price that we have to pay as being democratic country.
5. Street Demonstration is not always bad (if it is a peaceful one) as it serve a purpose (it is seen as a strong, last resort of communication to bring a more meaningful change for the better). But, it can turn bad (if it is exploited). A car can bring one to its destination and a car can kill if it is abused (driven recklessly). Does it mean that we should ban everyone from driving?
6. No doubt there will be some inconvenience and disruption in the City when this is happening but if this is known well in advance, proper arrangement can be made by each person.
7. Street demonstration/protest would only able to garner enough support if the people see the issue as big enough to warrant to risk their life to go out to make their voice heard.
8. The question is how do we avoid any street demonstration from becoming violent. A recent move by PAS requiring all the participants to unmask their face is a very good move.
9. Instead of keep on harping on provocation by protester or accusing the violent act by police or foreign media misreporting on what is going on, can we not get all riot police to install a video recorder when they are on duty and these video recording could be used to understand and justify if any actions taken are done appropriately and warranted for or not.
10. I agree that Free speech, free press, demonstrations and strikes must be circumscribed to some degree. There is already a system that handles this in which one can be taken to court for their actions but in order for this system to work efficiently; these important institutions (Justice Systems, Corruption Agency, Election Agency, Police Agency) need to be able to operate fairly, independently and without fear (without being able to be manipulated).
11. As observer mentioned, if any changes that we want to see in the future, we need to look at the root cause and take it by its horn and start to make some gradual change starting from the important institutions (Corruption Agency, Universities & Education policy making).
12. It is time for the person who is given a responsibility to learn what it means by accountability and the meaning of responsibility.
Salam, Tun,
One rainy afternoon, I received the following email that I would like to share with you and my fellow Malaysians. However, I am not able to credit the Source or the Author, as it came uncredited. I hope its owner(s) would not mind me republishing it here without his or her consents. I wish to congratulate ‘the Writer’ for having ‘the mind of an Angel…’ Here goes:
“It was a busy rainy morning, about 8.30am, when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry, as he had an appointment at 9.00am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him.
I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor’s appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the Nursing Home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease.
As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he were a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, “And, you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?” He smiled as he patted my hand and said, “She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is.”
I had to hold back tears as he left. I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life.” True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, it has been, will be, and will not be. With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails, sometimes there is one that comes along that has a message. The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. I hope you share this with someone you care about…I just did! “Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but it is how to dance in the rain.” We are all getting older…tomorrow is our turn…”
Sekian, Tun, terima kasih. Wassalam.
P.S.
Teach your children English, as poignant short stories like this educates and humbles us, and brings us back to reality…the Reality of Life! We were like this once, but sadly, today, we tried to belittle each other and worst, we tried to kill each other. Where have all those good traits gone? Is it due to progress or due to regress? I believe it was due to our education system past 10 years or so. Since then, our children reads, listens and watches only ‘make believe stories’, comics, tabloids, gossips, etc. that are (crabbily) written and dramatized in BM, which language they only knew!

According to Wain, writing his biography of Mahathir in 2010:
Rising living standards, together with Dr. Mahathir’s showpiece buildings and outspoken defence of Malaysia’s interests, contributed to a sense of national identity, pride and confidence that had not existed before. He put Malaysia on the map, and most Malaysians were pleased about it…. [However], he would not be able to escape responsibility for many of the problems likely to plague Malaysian society in the future, from creeping Islamization to corruption and inequality. For while he held Malaysia together for 22 years, the political-administrative system atrophied and decayed under his personalized brand of governance.
To be or not to be, malaysians will decide in 1 person, 1 vote in many general elections to come.
Sibotak, since you want hudud implementation to be carried out at ministry level, mca and other component parties can just shut up. Dont forget, malaysians have choice to vote bn or pr. I will vote pr because umno baru makes our official religion a political tool to seperate the country into pieces. Malaysia can never succeed if non muslim is deprived of opportunity in politics and economics.

There is good media, but most media depends on action, brutality, war, etc. to gain audience for their news. Of course most media are fond of street demonstrations too, especially if there are scenes of explosions, rioters and the FRU going berserk, etc.
To counter the negative publicity the internet has provided a level playing field for anyone, big or small. In that regard well done to both Dato Najib and Dato Hisham.
Their twitter accounts have become their own media machineries. They manage to bypass the conventional media. They both report their side of the story in real time.

I wish to direct our enthusiastic bloggers to see (not look) at the mobs which rampaged in the different countries in the Arab Spring caper.
You will see the desperation in their eyes, their soiled clothing, the slim bodies, many young men, with middle aged men etc.( where got middle-aged old men in Malaysia !) Why ?
These unfortunate and suffering people in these Arab lands arer not actually demonstrating to have Western Democracy which they have NEVER experienced for hundreds of years. They could not because of the existence of the Ottoman Empire with existed in those lands from the 15th century to the 20th century -1919. Thereafter, their lands were carved up by the British and the French into what we now know as nations. And the British and the French propped up a despotic ruler who ruled over these Arab folks who now revolt because of the lack of jobs, food, schools, goods, money, medical facilities, KFC, T-shirts etc as compared with some Third World countries. The Arabs are intelligent and have been around for 5,000 years. The demonstrations are more for JUSTICE THAN DEMOCRACY OF THE WESTERN KIND WHICH THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BECAUSE OF POLITICAL BONDAGE DOWN THROUGH THE CENTURIES.
On this note, I hope my fellow Bloggers now realise that there is a marked difference between the every ready 5,000 – 10,000 Malaysian demonstrators ( ring for a mob ) and those in the Arab lands.
THE MALAYSIAN DEMONSTRATORS WELL-FED AND WELL-DRESSED ARE DEMONSTRATING NOT FOR DEMOCRACY BUT TO DEMONSTRATE ON BEHALF OF OTHERS WHO WANT MORE AFTER HAVING TASTED THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT OF POWER AND MONEY – And now want morre of the same. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE.
THE MALAYSIAN DEMONSTRATORS ARE TRUE AND TRUE PROXIES.
On the one hand, we see the Arabs suffering by the thousands or the other we see the Malaysian demonstrators – their 1st World physique and dress belie their true intentions – performing a’la Bollywood or Hollywood routine according to a written script. This cannot last under the hot sun and humidity conditions of Malaysia.
This is the difference between an Arab and a Malaysian demonstrator. One is for real. The other is for keeps.
Malaysia Boleh !
Where else but our beloved Malaysia !

Well written, like to the new word “Democrazy” hope many dont become a “Democrazy” as it is really CRAZY.
MCA will mull PAS to court for hudud implementation in Kelantan first? I suggest MCA should move their HQ to Putrajaya now so that the traditions and cultures of multi ethnic can be maintain and preserve in Kuala Lumpur, President DS Liow. ISMA has no right to ask what have non muslim contribute to the country when they give us up to make Malaysia an Islamic country through vote buying. Why we are here? We are here to find out the root cause, blog to unblogging.
Racism is still very much alive in here but I believe malaysians are peace lovers who abide to Federal Constitution.
Kaum melayu dari negeri lain yang buat hal kat sini, sentinel3. As for dap, they know where they stand. Sudin, ibumu bukan aso ke? Well, at least tok det knows where is the mistake made now by giving chance to sibotak to bite not only him, but also frederal government and malaysians of all races. Tun perak, why you watch foreign news? Sikap macam ini ada mission pun tak akan berjaya kerana ko hanya tahu cakap saja, buat tak erti. Frederal constitution is here to stay for many generations to come. No one can take away our rights to vote as long as we are the citizen of the country. I am not politician, therefore, whoever wins, I still have to pay taxes to the frederal government.

Terima kasih Tun.
Salam Tun,
Agreed that democracy is a great system, allow good government to be elected/re-elected and bad government to be replaced. Democracy also allow voter’s representative to sit together at a legal platform to debate on issues that matters to the mind and heart of the voters.
Some elected representative has the tendency to bring their issues to the street by demonstrating at some central junctions in the capital city. We call this “Democrazy”. Democrazy is not related to democracy. Democrazy simply mean craziness to perform demonstration. Democrazy leaders think that they could influence people perception by conducting democrazy. They go all out – show their face to CNN, BBC , Al-Jazeera to gain cheap publicity and they tell the public that they did something “great” so that they will gain votes.
Too bad, democrazy is bad for business. It harm Sogo business from Japan, Tesco business from UK and even Walmart , Mark and Spencer and etc from USA need to think deeply before investing in Malaysia.
Democrazy is about perception. Well politics is mostly about perception. What about reality ? Voters need to weigh between perception and reality.
Opposition parties want the chance to govern and they got the chance to govern. They won the richest state in Malaysia – Selangor and they have the chance to prove whether the picture that they want to potray about how good they are, is true.
Reality – the opposition has failed. We have a big crisis in Selangor – water crisis and the way the Pakatan Rakyat parties handles this water crisis is very bad. Only their “totok” supporters think that the current water crisis is good.
Hey…., many industries are getting the brunt of the water crisis. Texas Instrument , Motorola, and many more…. and this is because the present state government is soooo goood that they present us all here with the water crisis.
But Heyyyy…. the opposition parties did not promise that they will do good. They are democrazy and democrazy people do is to shout the voters that Barisan Nasional are bad.
So, the Democrazy people has the rights to be bad because they did not promise they would be good. Do all you voters think that these cheap creepy Democrazy to be voted in Selangor or voted out of Selangor in the next election ?
I think we should voted them out.
Sincerely,
Your citizen who does not take bath two days in a week due to this water crisis.
Tun,
Izinkan saya menjawap aso HBT halfpastsic,
Haiya aso, if you want a law to prevent racism in this country, then the first thing that you should do is to stand in front of a mirror and ask yourself, am i a racist?
Ask the questions not once but many times my dear aso. If UMNO is a racist party, so is DAP, PKR (nepotism, cronyism, Anwar, Wan Azizah, Nurul Izzah….who’s next? they have many Nurul in their family).
Aso, i beg to differ with you. The more racist you becomes, the more votes will goes to UMNO. he…he…he.
And i totally agree with you (in your case) ” Cikgu kencing berdiri, murid kencing berlari”. He…he..he.

SINGAPORE HAS MORE THAN A MILLION CHINA CHINESE YET THE MALAY POPULATION IS JUST A FEW HUNDRED THOUSAND
THERE ARE ABUNDANCE OF CAPABLE INDONESIAN WHO WNATS TO WORK IN SINGAORE BUT NONE QUOTA GIVEN UNLESS SPECIAL APPEALS
THE CHINES NO NEED QUOTA , ITS FREE FLOW
EVEN YOU KNOW MALAYSIAN CHINESE ARE BETTER OFF TO GET WORK PERMIT
THAN THE MALAYSIAN INDIAN RATHER MALAYSIAN MALAYS
THERE MAJORITY OF THE CIVIL SERVANTS ARE SINGAPORE MALAYS
YET THE HIGH POST HOLDER ARE CHINESE
THOUGH AHMAD HAS BEEN WORKING FOR DONKEY YEARS
REGARDLESS OF QUALIFIED EVEN IF HAVE IT IS JUST FOR A DISPLAY SET
THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE WORK PERMIT HOLDER ARE MUCH EASIER TO BE PROMTED THAN THE MALAY SINGAPOREAN YET AFTER 6 MONTH
THIS CHINESE ARE INVITED TO BE SINGAPORE PERMANENT RESIDENCE
THE MAMA CAN ONLY HAVE WORK PERMIT UNLESS SPECIAL CASES
YOU TALK OF MALAYSIA RACIST EXPLAIN THIS REALITY
I,M AS MUCH RATHER WOULD,NT WANT TO TALK RACIST

RATHER THAN PULLING EACH OTHER THAT CAN LEADS TO SENSITIVITY
BEWARES OF YR WORDS
IN BLOG U CAN HANTAM
BUT IN REALITY I CAN SEE U GOT NO GUTS
BUT I LIKE U AROUND SO AS TO PUT SENSE FOR YR NO CENTS
In this country, we do not have law to prevent or avoid racism, but malaysians have votes to deny racist party in every 5 years. I m not going to argue, but the more racist you are, the more votes you will loose. Cikgu kencing berdiri, murid kencing berlari. All the best to all political parties in malaysia.
Water rationing is a good exercise to appreciate value of water. But if you use it as political tool to rampas selangor, sudin, you will be in big trouble. Aku tak suka rasis macam mu, su din, jadi saya akan pangkah parti abu kerana aku ini babi. Tak suka? Ceraikan komponent2 parti bukan melayu.
Salam Tun.
Come home from work at 11:30pm last night. It happened again!
My taps are all dry. We never anticipate the water rationing exercise is still ongoing, and we are not prepared.
The flood waters which inundated half of Klang valley has just receded, and the cleaning-up works are still on-going.
As usual this Hang Buat Taik elected government will always be the same.
Even a shameless “I BARED ALL, YOU LIKE IT?” Cina doll called Lizzy is in the Exco lineup!!!
This Hang Buat Taik, that proud supermoron thing and self-declared “aku memang babi & my mother is available”, everything in life is politic.
Dear Tun,
With regard to the following point:
8. In a two party system a small majority may weaken the Government due to fear of defection by its members. Only a Government with a big majority can provide stable and effective Governments.
I would actually prefer the current status – BN retaining its rule with a simple majority. My reason is simple; as u once quoted, “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
BN is at its best when it is threatened, when the government knows that the country is at stake, that the next wrong move would lead to the downfall of the government. BN was at its lousiest when it felt that it could do anything in the world, say anything against anyone and nobody could do much.
While this has been a great country, there are things that we can do to make it be better, and we need the opposition politicians sometimes to make BN politicians to do anything in that direction:
1) there are simple steps that can be taken to improve election integrity; the simplest would be to make the EC independent of any government ministry.
2) further, make the judiciary and the MACC independent too. This and point (1) would go a long way in muffling the opposition.
3) implementation of Bumiputra-first policy needs to be rationalized. While this has greatly increased the number of middle-class Malays and Bumis and brought stability to the country, there are shortcomings. For years, there are many cases whereby higher-level managers, CEOs, directors, university professors, etc. have been appointed or retained or promoted beyond competence or inspite of their lack of competence, simply because “diaorang orang kita”. “Orang kita” here means Malay or Muslim, AND a conformist. Kalau orang Melayu tapi tak sebulu dengan current management pun take boleh dikira sbg “Orang kita”. Consequently, these people (who are promoted to the top post) lack the charisma, vision, lack understanding of what it means to manage (in corporate) or to be a scientist (in university context). They mismanage the organization, and they in turn hire or promote people based on “orang kita” paradigm. In the end, the organization rots..
Something needs to be done to stop this, as the current practice will turn away not only well-meaning non-Bumis, but also non-conformist Malays.. And the opposition is charging at every opportunity to pinpoint this (eg. the MH370 and the bumbling DCA case).
Salam YAB & Yg diKasihi Tun,
Terima kasih Tun.

PM Korea resigned because of the tragic ferry accident. A lot of Malaysians ask why PM Najib does not resign for the disapperannce of MH370? PM job is tough and stressful in a political system that is similar to that of USA. It is a good sign that PM Najib can still manage this stress, similar to that Mr Obama. Both of them got a very supportive wife and children. To me, I prefer PM Najib to be the PM, but if UMNO Baru veterans keep rocking the boat to get elected in the ministry, the chances of DS Anwar to be the PM will become reality.
.
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/hudud-an-issue-because-najib-is-weak-says-dr-mahathir
By downgrading PM Najib will not help UMNO Baru party since it is split from within its party. Hudud capital punishment cannot be implemented in Malaysia because the Federal Constitution does not allow it, unless the Malay state is seeking to gain independence from the Federal Constitution. The reason BN can rule Malaysia for over 50 years since Merdeka is because of the Rukun Prinsip Negara is derived from the Federal Constitution. Fear mongering and vote bribing will no longer work as opposition parties hold the popular votes. PRC rich Chinese, just like the Malay, who have political connection with the ruling party are filthy rich over nights due to clearance of land for development, similar to what happened in in early year 2000. Sikap macam Tuntuah ini will only make UMNO Baru loose more votes since MCA and Gerakan have lost non-Malay votes to opposition parties.
Sooner or later BN needs to face this challenge as our living cost is going up steadily year after year.
Take care Tok Det.

We need facts & truth to determine to make decision
Media had played an important tool in all
But Media had misleads its foundation of reporting facts
Media was to be transparent BUT now lacks many
It has become tools for the more Influence & influencing people
Which therefor We are all in the Dark regardless of high tech Media
One may have the perfect system of voting
BUT one can never get it right
People voices if these voice are not from people with knowledge
With attitude for the right of the Nation
Will never conclude right decision
Thus one can never have the right answer to all
But its the way it should be
A definite truth is that
Human Intelligence never last yet it has its defects
Funny
Be it peoples elected but who are the people that make this important decision
for our Nation
The Danger Is
We can have Crooks to be elected if it was elected by Crooks
