2. While in Tunisia and Egypt the uprising of the people has been successful, the fighting in the other countries is still going on. There is no doubt that one way or another there will be changes political, economic and social before the uprisings come to an end.
3. But overthrowing the Government is not the end of the struggle. A greater struggle lies ahead – that of setting up new Governments; the true purpose of the uprisings.
5. Unfortunately the number of political parties cannot be limited as there would be at best a weak interim Government quite unable to do this. There can literally be hundreds of parties, with none being big enough to win a majority of seats in an election to form a Government.
6. A free for all would follow as the small parties jockey for positions. The likelihood is that no one would be able to form a majority Government and anarchy would set in. This might even lead to violence and break-down of law and order.
7. When the anarchy becomes serious, the only disciplined institution in the country would have to step in. This will usually be the military. A military Government would be set up usually with promises that it would be temporary.
8. To maintain law and order the military Government will have to crack down on disruptive dissensions. There will be arrests and detentions without trial. There will be varying degrees of suppression of opposition.
9. To ensure the loyalty of the junior officers and the rank and file of the military, privileges must be accorded to them. In a situation where the economy is disabled and there are shortages of food etc. the military Government would ensure that their men would not be without these essentials. Fairly rapidly the privileges will increase. There will be a black market for the food and goods supplied to the military men. Various degrees of power will be wielded by the military personnel. And power corrupts.
10. The division between the military and the people will widen. Complaints or adverse reaction by the people would meet with ever increasing suppression. Soon the military Government would be hated as much as the overthrown predecessor.
11. Having oppressed and suppressed the people, having thrown dissidents into detention and having executed some of them, the interim Government will find itself unable to keep the promise to hand back power. The interim Government has now become permanent, exercising power without being answerable to anyone but itself.
12. Egyptians should know this cycle. The military overthrew the king for various reasons. The people supported the military coup. But soon the military Government became authoritarian. As the leader aged, attempts would be made to create a dynasty. The leader wants to be succeeded by members of his family. The situation becomes intolerable again.
13. To ensure that this cycle would not repeat, democracy must be made to work. There cannot be too many political parties. The most successful democracies have very few parties, often only two. Somehow or other the leaders of the many parties must come together so as to form big parties with the capacity to gain a majority of the seats in Parliament.
14. The people too need to reject sectarian interests, be they racial, religious, ideological or territorial.
15. The most important mindset for everyone to accept is that no one would get everything that he or his sect considers as being their entitlement. Everyone has to make some sacrifice so that there would be room for the others to participate.
16. With this it would be possible for the many small parties to come together and form a unitary party or a coalition. The enlarged party would then have sufficient support to win a majority of the seats in order to form a credible Government.
17. The other need is for everyone to accept that in a democratic contest there will be winners and losers. It is important that everyone should accept losing. If not the winners would find themselves unable to govern the country as the losers would undermine the stability of the country which is required for a Government to function.
18. If the leaders and the people accept these two things, i.e. the willingness to downplay sectarian rights or entitlements at least partially and the willingness to accept defeat in elections, then democracy will work and elections will identify the party and the leaders who will form the Government.
19. If a unitary party is not possible than a coalition of parties should be formed.
20. This is a pre-election coalition. It is different from a coalition formed after elections when no party has won a majority to form the Government. A coalition of convenience such as this will always be held to ransom by the smaller party or parties which help to make up the necessary majority. A defection would result in the Government falling. The smaller party could then join the opposition to give it enough seats to form a Government. Clearly a post election coalition results in the tail wagging the dog.
21. A pre-election coalition would be more stable. The parties in the coalition could agree to the allocation of seats so that the coalition members would not contest against each other. Instead they should all support the coalition candidate no matter from which party he comes. This will ensure there will be no split in the votes of the coalition. By voting for a candidate from another coalition member, the party and its supporters can expect the other parties to vote for its candidates in the constituency allocated to it. Thus even if the number of supporters of a small party in the allocated constituency is not sufficient to ensure winning, the support of the supporters of the other coalition members can be sufficient to give its candidate a majority.
22. On the other hand if the individual parties put up candidates against each other in a constituency, the votes would be split. There will still be a winner but the split among voters would mean that the winner’s votes would often be less than a real majority of 50 per cent plus.
23. Assuming that there is understanding of the workings of democracy on the part of the people and the leaders, there would still be the minority extremists in all the groups who would object to any dilution of their beliefs or ideology. Extremists wield a far bigger influence in politics than is warranted by their numbers.
24. They frighten the moderates and the rationalists into undermining efforts at reconciling with others.
25. Usually no one among the moderates would want to take an open stand against the extremists. They fear being accused of betrayals and so losing support. In extreme cases the extremists may become violent to the point of assassinating the alleged betrayers of the cause.
26. A great deal of skill and diplomacy would be required to nullify the influence of the extremists. In countries where violence is a way of life; a creed, it will be very difficult. Such countries will be unstable when adopting democratic ways. There will be some degree of anarchy. And as has been pointed out earlier, anarchy is likely to result in military coups and authoritarian military Governments.
27. In the end it is up to the people whether they want a good Government or not. Democracy will give them a choice but democracy requires an understanding of its limitations. If this is understood and the rights are not abused, then democracy will give a good Government.
Salaam Tun,
Unfortunately I will have to disagree with you on this. Ask any Libyan and you will find that they simply refuse to accept anyone or anything can be worse than the terror and tyranny Qadafi and his family have wreaked in their country for over 40 years! Do not equate popular internal uprising against injustice to Western covert aspirations to invade and usurp their resources. Libya has made it clear that those who helped it get rid of the despot will be looked upon favourably when giving out oil contracts. These contracts are not bribed but earned by these European companies because of their professionalism and competence in running energy companies. They will have to go through due process and will be traded with as any other country seeking trade. Libya is not like Iraq in almost every way and to compare Libya to Iraq is unfair.
Muslims learn from experience and they know how not to be bitten from the same hole twice. While the rest of the lazy Muslim world was sleeping while Libyans suffered, the West decided to take advantage of the “Arab spring” to implement policies that are good for the Arab people and for themselves. There is nothing wrong with this win-win situation.
What comes next in Libya can not be worse than what the brave Libyans have been suffering.
Hanan,
Malaysia, once was part of the British Colony. Following the British law, if a land occupied by a party is not claimed within 15 or 20 years then nobody can claimed the land, the occupier of the will have the legitimate right of the land.
The Palestinian have been in their home land for nearly 1000 years, and the Jews want this land back based on what? ” Jewish religious book”?
What kind of moral standard that you apply to justify this kind of evil?
In the war of Khaybar, the jews spread lies and deceit inciting the arabs to fight each other so that they can reap the benefit.
They agreed for a truce with the Muslim and later on broke it.
This is stated in history, even acknowledged by western historian William Montgomery Watt.
What you are doing here from start to finish spreading hatred, lies and deceit. Which part of your comments did you not spread hatred, lies and deceit?
You have given numbers and statistics to down size the evil of murders and killing of innocent people in Palestine for half of decades.
Let me add to your numbers, Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Mao Zhe Tong, etc killed millions. Maybe you should derive a proportion of the numbers of the total killed in Israel-Palestinian conflict from the total human calamity, then you can get a much smaller percentage.
The Arab-Israeli conflict have been going on for half a decade but the Israeli kept on building settlements in Palestinean territory oblivious the instability it has caused in the region. This is evil, there is no doubt about it in our mind.
Again bottom line is that Israeli is occupying Palestenean land. This is validate by the United Nations which represent the bulk of population of this planet.
Until Israel cease occupying the land of our brothers, then we are not interested in anything you said whatsoever.
Dear Hanan, JB-FROM, and fbm,
Rather than continuing this finger-pointing exercise, I think it would be more productive if each of you focus your undoubtedly clever minds towards how to solve the problems in question. I do realize that it is hard to let bygones be bygones when this debate has been going on for as long as anyone can remember but it seems to me that only history can tell us which side is right and that therein lies our problem. As Geoffrey Barracklough said, “[History is] not factual at all, but a series of accepted judgments.” Therefore, whichever version of history we refer to will be biased according to the belief of it’s recorder.
If a solution is truly what you seek, then as I suggested, we must cease this debate over who is right and who is wrong. For all we know, we’re all wrong and this debate will go on forever.
If vindication is all that you desire, then carry on blaming each other. Then we can decide the ‘truth’ by building bigger guns, bigger bombs, taller walls, and raising increasingly angry youths.
All of us must do some soul searching to find out what it is that we really desire.
Just my two cent’s worth…
To JB_FROM.
You wrote: “We have no interest in your opinion” and ” we are not interested in anything Israelis have to say”
Are you speaking for all Malays and Malaysians? Are you their patron? I have some friends there who are thinking differently from you (among them Muslims).
You wrote: “We have no interest in your opinion. Israel is occupying Palestinian land. That is the bottom line. This is validated by UN”
Those who invaded to the Jewish land are the Arabs during the early days of Islam. who is more important for you? The UN or the Quran? In the Quran it says that this land belongs to the people of the book. What is the UN? An organization of interests and rotten apples.
You wrote: ” However we were warned that the Jews is always spreading message of deceit and hatred”
That’s the way anti Semites teach their children against the Jews. Do you think all Jews in your opinion the same? Can’t it be that Muslims are similar or worse? Can you accept that Muslims are terrorists? You are very dull minded to understand and differentiate good and evil. It is not to blame you, it is the system, government and religion.
You wrote: “This is what had occurred in the war in Khaybar and this is what you are doing here in this blog”
In Khaybar was a massacre of Jews by your prophet. Does it mean you need to massacre the Jews just because I comment in this blog? It must be justified according your opinion. who thinks different and oppose your agenda must be killed. Is this divine?
You wrote: “All of your messages is of hatred and deceit, nothing else”
You are wrong. I’m peeling off the hatred of you. I’m peeling the onion bitterness of you and uncover the butchery of the Arabs, Palestinians and Muslims. I know it is painful for a Muslim to face the bitter facts just because their blind global brotherhood without discriminating between good and evil.
Read this:
“The dead included Hamza al-Khateeb, a 13-year-old boy detained at the end of April in Deraa. His death sparked widespread outrage and protests after the corpse was returned to his family bearing evidence of severe torture, including a severed penis.”
This is what happened to a boy in Syria. You can read the full article backed by Amnesty International (an org you frequently use against Israel and you rely on) http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/30/syria-crackdown-amnesty-deaths-detention.
During the 1973 war two of my soldier friends were killed by Syrian ambush. After they were killed the Syrian soldiers cut off their penis. I was thinking it was just a rare event of humiliation of the dead. It looks like this is their method of humiliation.
Those are the people you supported blindly in the past and supporting now.
And this is called that I am spreading hatred on this blog while I am exposing the hatred of others.
Wassalam and have a nice holiday.
Dear JB_FROM,
The majority of the UN consist of 47 Muslim countries and
Ultra-Socialist countries that vote purely on an Anti Israeli Agenda. So skewed and evil to the point that they voted in North Korea as Chair of Disarmament. A country that has brutally starved its people and has actually threatened to use nuclear weapons on South Korea. I had to point out the
‘Inconvenient Truth’.
Do you really know the ‘Prophet’ well enough to assume that the message that the Jews are always spreading deceit and hatred is the complete truth. I find it incredible that treaties were always honoured by the ‘Prophet’ and inconveniently broken by others. Violence perpetrated to others like the Banu Qurayza, Banu Nadir, Khaybar, Quraisyh, 9/11, Mumbai, 11 churches in Malaysia etc, etc, etc seem to always be someone elses fault. Its incredible that the ‘Prophet’ would even murder his own flesh and blood the Quraisyh for accusing them
of breaking the treaty of ‘The Treaty of Hudaybiyah’. The Arab Spring is the perfect example of the in-fighting that has plagued the ‘Religion of Peace’ throughout the middle-east.
Have you ever been to Israel and do you know Hanan personally to qualify you to make a moral judgement on Hanan? I don’t think so. I’ve been to Israel and Hanan is my friend and he has my heartfelt support when the IDF defends Israelis against aggression. I’ve been to the West Bank and I know well enough that your Brethren is not telling all of you the whole truth. I’ve talked to a Arab Palestinian,
,Arab Christian and Hebrews on the Street to get a feel of what is happening. I may not be correct but at the very least I have opened my ears to all sides. Have You ?
Peace be with you in Jesus Name
Assalamualaikum,
To continue my answer to you. Another article from a Turkish journalist (isn’t he a Muslim?). Muslims are waking up slowly from their brainwashing dreams into reality. They wake up and peel off like an onion all lies that they have been told along history. They peel off the ignorance and twisted facts. Read and understand how you are also brainwashed in your country. How you are brainwashed by your previous and current leaders and by your one sided non objective media, not talking about religious brainwash.

Burak Bekdil – [email protected]
It has been more than two and a half years since Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told to Israeli President Shimon Peres’s face, “You (Jews) know well how to kill.” Prime Minister Erdoğan has also declared more than a few times that the main obstacle to peace in this part of the world is Israel, once calling the Jewish state “a festering boil in the Middle East that spreads hate and enmity.” In this holy month of Ramadan full of blood on Muslim territories, let’s try to identify who are the ones who know well how to kill.
As the Syrian death count clicks every day to come close to 2,000, the Turkish-Kurdish death count does not stop, already over 40,000 since 1984, both adding to the big pool of blood called the Middle East. Only during this Ramadan, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK’s, death toll has reached 50 in this Muslim Kurds vs. Muslim Turks war. This excludes the PKK casualties in Turkey and in northern Iraq due to Turkish military retaliation since they are seldom accurately reported.
Let’s speak of facts.
Sudan is not in the conventional Middle East, so let’s ignore the genocide there. Let’s ignore, also, the West Pakistani massacres in East Pakistan (Bangladesh) totaling 1.25 million in 1971. Or 200,000 deaths in Algeria in war between Islamists and the government in 1991-2006.
But a simple, strictly Middle East research will give you one million deaths in the all-Muslim Iran-Iraq war; 300,000 Muslim minorities killed by Saddam Hussein; 80,000 Iranians killed during the Islamic revolution; 25,000 deaths in 1970-71, the days of Black September, by the Jordanian government in its fight against the Palestinians; and 20,000 Islamists killed in 1982 by the elder al-Assad in Hama. The World Health Organization’s estimate of Osama bin Laden’s carnage in Iraq was already 150,000 a few years earlier.
In a 2007 research, Gunnar Heinsohn from the University of Bremen and Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, found out that some 11 million Muslims have been violently killed since 1948, of which 35,000, (0.3 percent) died during the six years of Arab war against Israel, or one out of every 315 fatalities. In contrast, over 90 percent who perished were killed by fellow Muslims.
According to Mssrs. Heinsohn and Pipes, the grisly inventory finds the total number of deaths in conflicts all over the world since 1950 numbering around 85 million. Of that, the Muslim Arab deaths in the Arab-Israeli conflict were at 46,000 including 11,000 during Israel’s war of independence. That makes 0.05 percent of all deaths in all conflicts, or 0.4 percent of all Arab deaths in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
In another calculation ignoring “small” massacres like the one that goes on in Syria and other deaths during the Arab Spring, only Saddam’s Iraq, Jordan, the elder al-Assad’s Syria, Iran-Iraq war, the bin Laden campaign in Iraq, the Iranian Islamic revolution and the Turkish-Kurdish conflict caused 1.65 million Muslim deaths by Muslims compared to less than 50,000 deaths in the Arab-Israeli conflict since 1950, including fatalities during and after Operation Cast Lead which came after the Heinsohn-Pipes study. For those who don’t have a calculator ready at their desks, allow me to tell: 50,000 is three percent of 1.65 million.
Golda Meir, the fourth prime minister of Israel, or rather the “Mother of Israel,” had a perfectly realistic point when she said that peace in the Middle East would only be possible “when Arabs love their children more than they hate us.”

Courage to stand against Palestinian and Muslim butchers who explode themselves in busses and restaurants.
Courage to settle on our Jewish promised land, even as is written in your holy Quran.
Courage to eliminate those heads of terrorists you cal freedom fighters who murder civilians as a way of life.
Courage to fight back your ignorance and anti Semitic hatred (Jews hatred) on your own land (this blog).
Courage to stand with truth against the evil of Muslims (not all of them) and evil of Christians (not all of them) and against evil of Jews (bad Jews).
But you are have luck of courage to stand against your own bad brothers, against your own brother terrorists. Your courage ends up with shouting “Death to Israel” and burning its flags.
Muslims will end up with a big defeat just because their culture (I wouldn’t be too sharp to say it is according to their faith) of hatred and violence to pour terror into the hearts of infidels, Jews and Christians. You call it the religion of peace? How come? Those who are butchers of their own brothers are butchers of all, period. It is like a tiger cannot get rid of its spots. Facts are talking.
As for Israel land. It is God’s covenant for the Jews gave to Abraham. It was given to Jews without any obligation of time and from where they are coming. Even Abraham himself wasn’t born in the land of Israel. Muslims can claim that they are also sons of Abraham but in this case they just “jumped” too late on that train with their prophet Muhammad, thousand years later and after Jews were existing. So Palestinians are not Jews to live on the land of Israel and they are Muslims who jumped late on the train. In both cases they don’t deserve that land and this land is belonging to the people of the book as the Quran says.
Who talks about ignorance is an ignorant himself and a history twister.

To Hanan,
Why would somebody in Israel be interested in a blog from Malaysia?
We have no interest in your opinion. Israel is occupying Palestinian land. That is the bottom line. This is validated by UN .
Until Israel cease occupying Palestinian land, we are not interested in anything Israelis have to say.
Just for your information, we Muslim in Malaysia never been thought in our religious school to kill or exterminate Jews. However we were warned that the Jews is always spreading message of deceit and hatred.
This is what had occurred in the war in Khaybar and this is what you are doing here in this blog.
All of your messages is of hatred and deceit, nothing else.
Here is your answer. One who was “on ground” very close to the events, not like you from remote control position, ignorant and self brainwashing by your own media. As long as you’ll keep being ignorant and full of hatred, that long we will win. Those who hate normally don’t think logically.

“In Israel, there is more courage in one square mile than in all of Europe. In Israel, there is more courage in one soldier than in the combined and cold hearts of every bureaucrat at the United Nations. In Israel, you can find people who will stand against incredible odds… against the entire tide of global opinion, for what is right and good and true. Israel is not a perfect country. No country is perfect. But it tries… and it is courageous.”
My comment,
First of all, what kind of courage that kills innocent women and children in Palestine.
Secondly, what kind of courage of Israel that brought Jews from Russia and over the world back to Israel at the expense of the Muslim when their land for hundred of years have to be taken from them to accommodate the lost brothers of the Jews.
Thirdly, the Jews kept reminding the world of the holocaust that accord 50, 60 years ago but where is the courage of Jews to act when Bosnian and people of Rwanda were exterminated by ethnic cleansing.
These are the courage of the twisted.
You pasted a long piece of literature that we have no stomach to read at full.
Talking about literature, Shakespeare in his play depicted the Jew, “Shylock” as a shrewd, self-centered, conscious less being.
I have nothing more to add.
The rebels are united in common hatred or common misled. Other than that they dont have much thing in common!! Lesson from Afghanistan . Even during fighting with Russia there are already factions. Sighatullah Mujaddidi spoke of it in 1979 in London when Muslim World supported Mujahiddin. When the drived Russia out the rift even greater. Until Taliban rise to power. It would have been a strong goverment until the attact of Twin Tower. US bet on new horse!
For Eygpt, Libya and Syria they have to take this as a lesson.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
May I.
Dear Hanan,
I rarely write something against others directly, but Hanan you are an exception.
Amusingly, you said it is Jews who own the land 2000 years ago. Come on, 2000 years ago? if that is legal to say, who own the States 2000 years ago? and who own Australia back 2000 years ago? Chinese, Mongolians, Indians, and Russians might even have something to say for a lot less than 2000 years. Hmm, thank God that there is not many in the world who has the same mentality as yours.
Btw, will that justify all of the killings and oppressions?
I guess you have been waiting for retaliation from Hamas that will results in casualties. It must be exciting for you to write numbers like 2, 8 and 40. Yes, s8 Israeli have been killed and sadly there are some innocent Israeli civilians who have lost their lives. But either you have dementia, memory problem or just plain twisted ignorant that you ignore the number of innocent kids, women, and persons who have been brutally killed by Israeli forces before and after that incident. Just search them on the web; you’ll find out how many who have been killed innocently. Maybe the number is too big for you to write down and digest.. go do a statistical comparison, bar chart is the easiest (taller bar means more, got it? see the differences?).. or is the number of killings too small in your scale?
Dear Hanan, do you really know what humanity means? You should not use the word that you don’t understand.
I do not know where did you read about Khaibar, but please do not say something so stupidly not right about our prophet. It just says that you are an illiterate twisted ignorant. Go find a good source, your current source surely is as twisted as you. Did you even wiki your twisted facts?
There are many interpretations of what is happening in Arab world, and each one of the rise has their own cause. In a positive way, what happening in the Arab world are movements of democratisation and no one wish for any casualties. Hopefully the cause would not be lost in the turmoil.
I wish Palestinians will have their long overdue justice that they deserve against the worldly known oppressor. And I’m wishing it soon.
Glenn Beck gave this evening a keynote of restoring courage. The event was in Jerusalem close to Al Aqsa mosque. Among the issues he speaks about the Arab spring effects.
As your media is not covering it, here is the transcript.
“The Courage to Stand
Wednesday, Aug 24, 2011 at 11:32 AM EDT
Last year, hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered at the Lincoln Memorial for an event called Restoring Honor.
Some of you were there. It may have changed you. I know it changed me.
In August, I challenged Americans to live a life of honesty and integrity. This year I have a new challenge.
Today, I ask you turn your eyes to Israel and restore courage.
I have been asked: What can you teach Israel about Courage? My answer is simple. Nothing.
Then they ask: Why are you coming to Israel? Because, I say: In Israel, you see courage.
In Israel, there is more courage in one square mile than in all of Europe. But it tries… and it is courageous.
Today, the world needs courage more than ever.
We need it because whether you live here in Jerusalem, or in London, or in Athens, or in Washington, D.C., you know – we all know — the world is changing, the world is burning, and whatever we have known… whatever we’ve thought would never change… whatever we’ve grown to think is solid and strong and durable … is under siege.
You don’t have to be a prophet to know that things are not going well in the world. The threats are mounting. Darkness is falling.
Far too many politicians are willing to look away. The shape shifters are at work. They have turned day into night, good into evil. They have changed the very meaning of words.
In New York, the so-called leaders of the world talk about abuses of human rights. But what they will do is abuse the very meaning of the phrase “human rights.”
“Human rights,” they say. But who will they focus on? Libya? Syria? North Korea? No.
They will condemn Israel. Tiny Israel. Democratic Israel. Free Israel. Israel, which values life above all other things.
Israel, as usual, is the exception.
——-
The world is adrift. The world is confused.
In Europe, the great nations of the past – Greece, Italy, Spain, Britain – are falling into chaos and violence.
We have raised up a generation who cannot tell the difference between what they owe society and what society owes them.
They interviewed the rioters in England. Why, they were asked, are you stealing shoes or televisions. “Because,” the rioters said in response, “because we deserve them.”
We may think: Oh, how different are today’s youth! But the young merely imitate their parents. They have seen how the world reacts to evil – with indifference. They watch, they learn, they imitate. What one generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace.
When the Fogel family was killed in their sleep the world barely took note. The grand councils of earth condemn Israel. Across the border, Syria slaughters its own citizens. The grand councils are silent. It’s no wonder children light their streets on fire.
These international councils, these panels of so-called diplomats, condemn Israel not because they believe Israel needs to be corrected. They do so because it is convenient.
Everyone does it. In some countries, it’s a crime not to.
The diplomats are afraid, and so they submit. They surrender to falsehood. The truth matters not. To the keepers of conventional wisdom, a sacrifice of the truth is a small price to pay. What difference does it make if we beat up on little Israel? These are the actions of the fearful and cowards.
But I stand here to tell you this: Fear is the pathway to surrender. And to overcome fear, we must have courage.
This is hard to do. Especially here. Especially now.
The plotters plot. The schemers scheme. And it is easy to tremble with doubt.
Even Israelis – the most courageous people on earth – doubt themselves. “Did we do something to deserve this? Perhaps if we just do something else, it will all go away!”
My Israeli friends, I have a message: You must not lose hope. You must not lose confidence. You must have courage.
And you must draw courage from the knowledge that you were led to this land by God. And in the affairs of mankind, God is not a stranger to the children of Abraham.
He promised that Israel would rise again. For two thousand years the Jewish people held on to this promise. We have seen the promise fulfilled.
Israel, we have witnessed the dawn of your redemption.
We live in an age of manmade, technological miracles. But these are the days of divine miracles.
Not by the hand of any man, whether his name is Balfour or Truman, does Israel exist. Israel is here because the God of Abraham keeps His covenants.
In synagogues just over a week ago, they read the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“Comfort, oh comfort My people,
Says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
And declare to her
Her term of hard service is over . . .”
And look at us! Here we are – in Jerusalem united. Jerusalem rebuilt.
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is not neutral in the affairs of mankind. God is not indifferent to Israel. He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant he made with your forefathers.
—–
In the 40 years of wandering in the desert, the ancient Hebrews were led through the dark of night by a pillar of fire.
Courage is the act of walking into the darkness, and knowing that each step would be guided and protected by the pillar of fire, if we follow it. God is with us.
I will admit, I did not know this, until very recently.
For the first half of my life I did very little. I was the stereotypical American that believed two oceans would forever shelter me.
As a radio and TV commentator, my job was little more than pointing out the problems. And I did. I saw what I thought were obvious things, and I made obvious observations.
I saw the interviews of Osama bin Laden, and so in 1999, I said he will attack New York again. He did.
I saw the unreal expectations of ordinary Americans in 2006, and so I said – there will be a crash in the housing market. It can’t keep going up. And it crashed.
I saw the global financial markets ready to seize up in 2007… I saw the coming unrest and riots in Europe in 2008.
It didn’t take a prophet to see these things – all you had to do was recognize that evil exists and evil was going unopposed.
And so this year, when I saw Tunisia’s and Egypt’s rulers crack and fall and the world called it the Arab Spring, I said: Where could this be going? And behind these revolutions was a familiar force, a force that will place those nations under a new pharaoh. And that force, I said, would come up to the borders of Israel. And so it has.
We are not at the mercy of these events. We can alter the course of history. We can stand against the dangerous arc of this story.
But we need people who are willing to speak truth. We need inspiration. We need a model to follow.
The last century was a century of genocide. A century where evil rose up again and again… swallowing up the lives of millions.
But evil met its match. Goodness eventually prevailed. People like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther King Jr. and Lech Walesa and Mother Theresa and Henrietta Szold awoke the world.
They gave their lives to the pursuit of human rights. They took the side of justice against injustice, they held aloft the torch of freedom to push out the darkness of hate.
These men and women lived difficult lives. They often lived shortened lives. They were often born to relative privilege, but willing to take on suffering. They did want not to martyr themselves. They would have happily lived to the end of their natural lives in comfort… but to the righteous, there is no comfort when evil has taken root.
But the cause of human rights has been taken over by organizations who share little with the individuals who led the movement. Human rights was once a cry for justice. Now it used as a threat.
These organizations have become bullies and grotesque parodies of the principles they pretend to represent. They criticize free nations and spare the unfree. They denounce nations like Israel and America, who have high standards for freedom, and leave alone nations that have no freedom at all. They are nearly comical in their double-standards. Whatever moral force they once had is spent. Their time is up. And so, we dismiss them.
Today, we take back the phrase “human rights” and place it where it belongs, as the first half of God’s plan for humanity. The second half is responsibility.
If we want to be endowed with rights – real human rights, we have to act with responsibility. We must not be comfortable with rights. We must be comfortable with responsibility. We cannot use our few short years on this planet enjoying our rights… we must do everything we can living by our responsibilities to our fellow man. Rights and responsibilities. The two go hand-in-hand, arm-in-arm, together.
Nowhere in the Torah or the Christian Scriptures do you see the phrase words “human rights.” But there is a lot in there about responsibilities.
Everything we know about human rights and civilization came from this place. Whether you live by 613 commandments or 10 or just one golden rule, they all came from here. This throne of the Lord.
When the world turns its back on Israel and the Jewish people, the world turns its back on the source of all human rights. Without the Jewish people, humanity would not know that every individual life has dignity, that every life is sacred, that God names every star and knows every soul. That was God’s message to Abraham and Moses. It is the message of the Jewish people to the world, and by their very existence they teach it to us.
Today I propose a new path. I propose a path led by you – the individual, linked in arms with other individuals. A path where governments and so-called human rights organizations get out of the way and people come together to solve our problems. As God intended.
Some may ask: Why not leave this work up to others – the well-connected and well-educated and well-heeled, our political leaders or the media?
Well, I ask you: Whom do you trust to do this sacred work?
Who will protect your rights better? A king, president or you?
Who will protect the truth? A reporter, producer or you?
Who will protect and teach your children to seek truth? A textbook committee, an education bureaucrat, or you?
Did a commission of wise men stop the Holocaust? Did a committee of Congress end Jim Crow?
No. In each case, the work was done by individuals who would not abide convenient lies. They saw injustice and they called it out. They saw their nation wage war against a single group and they said “Not in My Name.” They didn’t wait for the conventions of society to catch up to God’s laws. They pushed. They pressed. And they were victorious.
This spirit lives within us. I believe that you will link arms with others and stand with courage, and walk behind the pillar of fire.
—–
You see evil rear its head in our time. You see the signs again. The swastikas are on display in the street marches. This week they’re holding up signs in Cairo that say: We’re building the gas chambers. They dress their children in suicide belts. They are given the choice, and they choose death.
Let us have the courage to choose life. No more incitement. No more threats. No more terror. No more talk of genocide. No more hate. No fear. No more lies.
We can read their signs, listen to their speeches. So we know that they say what they mean and mean what they say.
Well: So do we.
And I know we will be victorious. Because while their conviction is rooted in hate, our conviction is rooted in love. And love always wins.
When Naomi and her daughters in law lost their husbands, Naomi knew that their future would be far brighter if they went back to their families, to start over. But her daughter in law Ruth would have none of it. She said,
“Entreat me not to leave thee,
or to return from following after thee:
for whither thou goest, I will go;
and where thou lodgest, I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people,
and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried.”
And so I say that if the world decides it must know who will stand with Israel, who will stand with the Jewish people, so they know exactly who to condemn, who to target, let them know this.
Condemn me. Target me. I will stand with Israel. I will stand with the Jewish people. And if they want to round us up again, I will proudly raise my hand and say “Take me first.”
—–
There is courage in our time. It is here in this space. It is found everywhere God resides in the hearts of man. It is found in Joplin Missouri. Joplin was devastated by a tornado a mile wide. They lost their hospital and their school. Joplin looked more like a moonscape than the pleasant town it was.
But this is a town not looking to take help but to offer it. They began to gather early this morning. Many are taking the day off from work to show their dedication and love of the Jewish people and the state of Israel.
Our problems demand more than checkbook courage. It’s easy to write a check. But we can’t outsource love and truth and courage. We must do it ourselves. We must roll up our sleeves to make a lasting difference.
We will find hope. We will renew ourselves. We will be the first to regain what many of us have lost … Our faith. Together, we will begin to change the world.
We won’t find the answers in some global body halfway around the world…but in ourselves. We won’t find purpose in the drumbeat of destruction and disobedience we hear in the West, but in a mission of building and honor and courage.
In people like Rami Levi. In people like Tamar Fogel. In the owners, one a Jew the other an Arab, who built and reopened the Maxim restaurant after it was bombed. Each made a decision on their own to build.
The prophets and sages promise us, that by small and simple things do great things come to pass… and small means will confound the wise. Let us confound the world.
This will be a movement of honor…. courage… and responsibility.
God has made man in His image and after His likeness. He has endowed us with great privileges and rights. And He has given us purpose on this earth. His blessings are our rights. His purpose is our responsibility.
Because we have a right to worship freely, let us declare: We have a responsibility to fight for the rights of others to worship freely.
Because we have a right to pursue happiness, we have a responsibility to be thankful for our blessings and to comfort the needy.
Because we have a right to knowledge and truth, we have a responsibility to pursue it, and to fight falsehood.
These declarations of responsibility, and others, are being posted at http://www.glennbeck.com. In the coming days, I want each of you to print them, read them, carry them, and make them a part of your lives. Share them with your family and friends. Remember all that God has done for you, teach these lessons to your children, and obey God’s word. And join me on a historic march towards human responsibility.
Evil is counting on us to do nothing. Evil is counting on us to be afraid. But evil has misjudged us.
Evil has misjudged us as it has misjudged the Jewish people. The last line of a Jewish prayer is…
Adonai li, v’lo ira
God is with me, I fear not.
Those two lines have been uttered for centuries. Through crusades. Through progroms. Through the gas chambers. At the hands of butchers.
In every generation, they rise up to kill Jews. And in every generation, the answer is the same.
LO IRA. I fear not.
I will wait for someone else to rise no more. This time, we are the ones who say – LO IRA.
—–
Let us begin here: some people call Israel an apartheid state. I reject that. And so immediately following this program I will fly to South Africa, which is where apartheid actually existed. I will broadcast from Cape Town tomorrow morning to remind the world what the evil of apartheid really looked like.
And I will learn from the people who conquered the hatred, ignorance and bigotry and who chartered a peaceful course for a new South Africa.
Then on Friday I will fly to South America to plead the case of human responsibility to a group of nearly 5,000 local leaders from all over the continent and ask them to join me in standing in defense of Israel, the Jewish people and responsibility.
Finally on Sunday, I will speak to 5,000 Americans in Dallas, Texas. I have chosen to end my week in the town where I will headquarter the charitable division of my company, Mercury One. Dedicated to the idea that one man, inspired by one God, makes a difference. This trip will end where a global moment begins.
This won’t be easy for me, and it won’t be easy for you.
Others will say, “come with us, over the horizon.” But that horizon is a cliff. And when you don’t go along, you will stand out. You will be mocked and in some cases your life may be in danger.
So you must remember to say: LO IRA. I fear not.
No one wants to be on the point, the person that sticks out. My first death threat came in 2002 after my first visit to Israel and my declaration of support of the Jewish people and state. My latest death threat was today.
And so I say: LO IRA. I fear not.
Many of us may fall along the way. Some will have their reputation destroyed or business or career ended and others still may pay the ultimate price.
But let us link arms and make the journey together and if one shall fall, let 10 join our ranks.
You were not born so someone else could rule over you. God did not create you, endow you with rights so you could remain silent while injustice and evil grow. You have a purpose and it is rooted in love, compassion and responsibility.
There are many reasons to hear my words, leave here and do nothing. We all have been trained to believe that we are not strong enough, smart enough or powerful enough.
Abraham was old, Moses was slow of speech, Ruth was a widow, David was a little boy, Joseph was in prison, and Lazarus was dead. What is your excuse?
You were born for a time such as this. Begin by declaring that this is why you were placed on this earth. It doesn’t matter how you’ve spent your years on this planet. What matters is what you do now from here.
I cannot promise you safety, prosperity or comfort.
But I can promise you this. One day, your children and grandchildren will ask you: “What did you do when the world was on the edge again? What did you say when the West, Israel and the Jews were blamed again?”
You will look them in the eye and say: I had courage. And on the 24th of Av, I committed to stand with courage… to walk… to march… arm in arm… behind God’s pillar of fire.
Adonai li v’Lo Ira.
God is with me, I fear not”

To Hanan,
Your comment,
Who said this is their land? That land belongs mainly and prioritized to the Jews. Those Palestinians who you claim to be natives are not more that immigrants from the surrounding Muslim countries when Islam spread over the Middle East while the Jews were expelled from their land 2000 years ago. Those Palestinians are invaders who robbed the land from the Jews when the Jews were absent by force.
My comment,
The United Nation says that it is the Palestinian Land.
We knows that the Jews open up 2000 years old book and history and claim that Israel belong to Jews and they want to expel the Palestinian.
Using this logic, the red indian can open up their own history and expel everyone and claim America their own land.
We can’t have that can we?
Your comment,
What did prophet Muhammad to Jews (Khaibar)? Didn’t he massacre all man and children while raping the women?
There are more stories about Muslims butchery against Jews. Explore for those events.
Muslims are living on their sward to enforce their word, either their religious or political word. It either used against their own brothers or against others. The Arab spring isn’t different. Butchers will replace other butchers and this is the history of the Arab countries, bloody.
My comment,
In Islam it is prohibited to kill women and children in war.
In the crusade war, Saladin freed all prisoners, male, female and children when he took over Jerusalem. The Muslim did not get the same treatment earlier.
I am not making this up, they even make a film about him in Hollywood, you however, make up stories which are not true.
Meanwhile Golda Meir said that the Israelis are angry because Palestinian make the Israelis kill women and Children.
There is a different between morality and twisted mindset. We can judge ourselves.
You said that Muslim’s are full of hypocrisy, why don’t you take a long look at mirror and ask yourself if there is no hypocrisy within you.
Again I would like to reiterate that Muslim did not exterminate the Jews like you said earlier, Adolf Hitler did.
By the way, what is the real reason you are commenting in this blogs?
Good evening Tun,
529. Keep that earlier comment in heart, Tun, and let ex-mufti Perak does his definition on corruption and Anwar Ibrahim as Muslim and Malay to PM Najib.
540. What Hanan wrote do not apply in Malaysia because he is a Jew still living in a war zone which is unavoidable.
541. Inflation rate is rising, and the rate will be brought down by mega sales and promotion offered by giant market players to maintain their market shares which will be reflected in CPI.
542. Today, voters can adjust their lifestyle and are forgetful and forgiving, and they do not favor abuse in public spending, race and religion supremacy.
543. PM Najib, and Utusan UMNO too, must remember that today he is the PM of Malaysia.
544. PM Najib’s Bersih speech in PWTC has made himself looked like Mr Johnny English, and Utusan’s Zaini Hassan, the rubbish dinosaur writer, has made himself stood so low by calling Anwar Ibrahim as Renaissance Man and PAS as Plastic macam Malaysians tak tahu baca Bahasa Melayu.
545. Today, DS Anwar Ibrahim is Selangor Economic Adviser, Permatang Pauh MP, normal rakyat and is not proven guilty in his current sodomy II trial.
546. As for secondary race votes, MCA and Gerakan should know what to do because they need our votes.
Goodnight Tun.

Salam Tun,
Jefferson attacked Hamilton for emulated “British System” in USA, but people must not forget that British System created the “British Empire” in the First place, that biggest Empire up to the 20th Century.
Just because people Copied the American School of Economics, doesn’t means its bad. Instead, ask What makes USA an Empire?
FDR’s New Deal Economics makes USA a top SuperPower.
We see today, China is copying FDR’s New Deal Economics.
Key of being of a Great nation is Production. Proof; China.
There’s no past 100years Historal evidence of so-called “Islamic Economics” will work. Excuses of Israel mess things up is unacceptable, the current regime always make mess.
Cause & Problems
[2:268] Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
Solution
[35:44] Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allah is not to be caused failure by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.

1. Agree, what next is the real question. Hopefully these power gaps are soon filled will qualified good leaders without external hands puppeting them.
2. Could not say any better, Najat Fawzy article (with references to your view in your book ‘Islam and the Muslim Ummah’) says it all. http://english.alarabiya.net/views/2011/08/07/161253.html
3. Btw, some people would just twist any facts in supporting their own agenda. Sadly, the twisted facts is so twisted that it is unimaginably disconnected (it just does not make any sense at all). 5. Have a great final days of Ramadhan Tun. 🙂

518. Though I am disappointed by that piece of a-minor komen sampah, I am back with clear and crystal mind, Tun.
519. I am a Chinese because of skin color and my name.
520. In oversea, I need to introduce myself as Malaysian, my country of origin, to differentiate myself from mainland China and other parts of the world including Singapore.
521. Local MI’s news covered by Shazwan on:-
Despite Penang’s success, Guan Eng says talents still leaving country
By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal August 23, 2011

PETALING JAYA, Aug 23 — Economic success and development in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) states alone will not be enough to keep local talent in Malaysia as many are still looking for greener pastures, says Lim Guan Eng.
The Penang Chief Minister said last night that the brain drain is very much a serious problem, and that Malaysia is still losing out to neighbouring countries who continue to recruit young Malaysian professionals in droves.
“Despite Penang’s success, it is still difficult to attract people to stay back home.
“There has been aggressive head-hunting by our neighbours, especially Singapore. We are losing to them, even though we did not actually do anything wrong. We are losing out to our neighbouring countries,” he told a DAP Selangor fundraiser here last night.
The DAP secretary-general’s remarks were in response to a question posed about PR’s plan in tackling the problem of brain drain.
He was barraged with questions last night, but each query carried a standard demand — many of those in attendance wanted to know details of PR’s policy plans (education, financial management) should it assume federal power.
Lim appeared to have been caught off-guard with some of the questions, and did not directly answer them nor did he provide PR’s solutions into tackling brain drain. Instead, he said that PR’s policy plans would focus on maintaining a corruption-free environment as well as reform plans set out by the opposition’s Buku Jingga manifesto.

“We will liberalise the economy, and establish institutions. We want institutions to follow the rule of law,” Lim stressed.
In January, the Najib administration had set up Talent Corporation to revive to revive the nation’s stagnating economy.
A brain drain is depriving Malaysia of talent, and accounts for a third of the country’s one-million strong diaspora, according to the World Bank Economic Monitor.
Singapore alone has absorbed 57per cent of these departing educated workers.
Only 23 per cent of Malaysia’s current work force is highly skilled, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak saying this number must rise to 37 per cent by 2015 if it is to become a developed nation by 2020.
World Bank senior economist Philip Schellekens recently said the number of skilled Malaysians living abroad has tripled in the last two decades with two out of every 10 Malaysians with tertiary education opting to leave for either OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries or Singapore.
The economist said Malaysian migration was increasingly becoming a skills migration with one-third of the one million-strong Malaysian diaspora made of graduates.
522. From the news, Mr Lim Guan Eng is a closed minded fella and has began to get confused for his positions as Secretary General to DAP, Anwar’s close friend, DPM for Pakatan Rakyat after GE13, when PR won, Chief Minister of Penang and Malaysian 1st.
523. How to define brain drain as Malaysian 1st?
524. Rakyat may not work for Malaysian companies in the land of Malaysia.
525. Rakyat may work for foreign companies in the land of Malaysia.
526. Rakyat is still Malaysian 1st atau 2nd as long as we hold Malaysian passport and ID card no matter where we work.
527. I do hope that the mentality of kadang2 kiasu, kadang2 kiasi, you know what I mean Tun, is erased from Guan Eng’s Malaysian 1st political agenda.
528. It is very immature of him by pushing the brain drain problem to Singapore and PAP, and tak buat apa2 except talk politik longkang.
529. Corruption can not be erased, it can only be prevented and enforced as time moves on through current policies and public awareness.
530. Lim Guan Eng is not 5th Premier, Mr Zhu Ronji of Hunan who was famous in fighting corruption by force.
531. Lim Guan Eng is a Chinese no matter where he goes which he can never change in his ID and passport in Malaysia.
532. Yes, from this news, DAP was the “batu api” for race riots of May 13, 1969 due to kiasu and kiasi, let Guan Eng explains through press statement.
533. In the past, DAP batu-apikan UMNO.
534. Today, DAP batu-apikan PAP for political mileage.
535. TS Koh Tsu Khoon, keep it up and don’t give up on Gerakan/BN and the good work of Tun Lim Chong Eu, a true gentleman of His Way style in building up Penang.
536. TS Koh, you are scholar and gentleman who abide to rules and regulation, Guan Eng is a street fighter who always use his Hokkien to talk2 only, ikut langkah Chen Sui Bein, small guy, big ego.
537. Guan Eng cakap Hokkien, gua tarak faham.
538. TS Koh, just let Guan Eng do the badmouthing to gain his political mileage.
539. We only loose when we give up by doing nothing.
Good day Tun.
529.
Dearest Tun,
in Libya it is not what is seems as shown by CNN or al-Jazeera or BBC. Ghadaffi is loved by his people! Youtube videos that will never be shown by the media shows millions in the July 1 pro-Ghadaffi in Tripoli rally showing support for him, maybe 50-100 times more than Bersih came up last month. To counter that rebels staged fake celebrations of rebels capturing the city last night as reported by independant journalist Lizzie Phealan.
Ghadaffi never kills his own people – Russian military satellites confirmed that news reports of him bombing his people all lies. In Libya, there was no basis for a rebellion. They had free healthcare and education, interest free loans, couples who get married get US50-60k, people who want to farm get free land, and in Libya everyone gets heard.
These are fact:
1. Ghadaffi threatened to nationalize oil. Coincidentally the countries bombing them now have a stake in the oil industry there.
2. Ghadaffi proposed using the gold dinar. With the US admitting they don’t have any gold in their “federal reserve” anymore, this does not bode well to the US dollar. Remember the IMF chief jailed because he questioned them about whether or not they had the gold they pledged?
3. Water. Ghadaffi’s great man made river project, is enough to supply water to the whole of Africa. Hinting that he will share it with them will make the bankers go crazy — sustainable food and water would free africans from the endless debt.
4. al-Qaeda are confirmed to be the frontline rebels. Isn’t it curious that they are called terrorists in another topic but in Libya they are called rebels?
5. Tweets by the “International Criminal Court” crying genocide in Libya that led to the war are fake. But no one cares about this now.
I can go on and on but this serves as a good start for people to start their own investigation. This man took over the poorest country in Africa and made them into the number 1. And now the war-hungry countries are after everything this country has.
I beg you, Tun, to watch yourself videos of all the rallies in Libya that will never be aired of the people’s support to the colonel, especially the million strong rally on July 1 where Ghadaffi made a speech condemning NATO.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Thank you for the insight on the happening in the Arab world.
I’m afraid one day this might happen to us in Malaysia as most of our youngsters especially the malays do not think before they act.
This is evidence when they participated in a demonstration without knowing the purpose or the implication. They are easily manipulated and worst still they thought is was just for fun.
To make matter worst, majority of these youngsters are from institution of higher learning.
I urged parties concern should seriously look into this.
Objective record of events.
In Arab Spring I, you suggested perhaps the UN can take action. While noble, during these times a lot of things very unnoble are being done in the name of the UN.
So, what’s new ? World history is just a series of civilizations or clusters of power cycling between heaven and earth, with a postulated upward bias representing ‘progress’. Can we really predict?
Ibn Khaldun’s ‘asabiya’ represents adequately the quality or cohesion within a society, and serves as a measure of the quality of the governance and resulting cycles and amplitudes. Can we do anything more?
One clearly gets the quality of governance or governments we deserve.
While Pakatan is dominated by greed and little genuine national concern, is UMNO sufficiently free from all these impurities to be able to continue to inspire and lead? Can it renew itself? What’s the quality of the statemanship, when you were PM and after? How do we ensure UMNO keeps its soul intact?
To
Hanan,
Do you expect the Palestinian to sit still while Israel takes their land piece by piece?
I have my full respect to the Palestinian as there have persevere and fought for nearly half a century from Jewish occupation to their land.
How long can Israel maintain status quo with regards to Palestine? We are now in the 21 century, occupation of other people’s land no longer exist accept Israel.
About hatred to the Jews, if you refer to history, muslim did not exterminate Jews, Adolf Hitler did.
Salam Tun,
1. Islam muslims all over the world find it difficult to adapt to the age of reason. Christian muslims have undergone continuous development ever since the fall of the Islamic influence.
2. The reason hat Islam muslims find it difficult to adapt is that Islam muslims fail to find reasons for their religion, and hundreds of years of following irrational beliefs has the effect of “numbing” rationale thinking to almost zero. It went to the extent that muslims think their failure is due to other peoples success, and wholly blame other races and religion for what is in reality their own failure.
3. A good muslim can even thrive under a bad government. Given good government, good muslims can contribute wonders. We have summer all year round. And we still cannot be world class. People who observe carefully knows why. And this GE is going to be a heat wave to melt the frozen stiff UMNO.
4. I hope PR makes an earnest attempt at converting the racists organisations to embrace more universal, more international values.
5. I have seen some people aready converted, not politically, but philosophically. I hope it remains. The onus is on PR to show how good the ideologies they bring. If people do not see that, they will not believe anymore, and go back two steps.
6. UMNO may need to prepare for winter. I do not think the Malays can ever be united under UMNO again. Malays want to retain their identity, and enhance it further. They may have no need to be united ever.
7. I say so because once we experience the advantage of identifying ourselves as human beings, we no longer want to return to racism, we merely take short cruisers into racial grounds. So i look forward to a better Malaysia. And i hope & pray this mid life crisis can be over soon without too much heat.
Thank You Tun

Assalamualaikum Tun,
There are some good side to the Arab Spring. The new Egyptian government are more supportive of the Palestinian cause as compared to during Mubarak days. They have opened the blockade at the Egyptian border allowing important food and medical supplies to enter Palestine. I read the Egypt/Israel diplomatic relationship is at all time low ever since the Mubarak Government was overthrown and taken over by the new government. The new government is expressing the feelings of the Egyptian people which is very anti-Israel due to the continued aggression of Israel towards the Palastinian. With this new “Arab Spring”, Israel can no longer rely its once autocratic leaders from Muslim countries to contain the anger of Muslims in their respective countries.
Dearest YAB & diKasihi Tun,
Is it posible for you to comment on what was written by your DAUGHTER in The Star – 17 Aug 2011 – below is an excerpt from her article. It looks like she’s not happy with the Malaysian Government. From her write-up, it’s quite obvious that she’s not aware about the suffering of the Palestians. She thinks that the situation in Malaysia is the same as in Palestine. In my opinion she’s the one who is living in FANTASY & not being logical..
///
We are always an ‘exception’
Musings
By Marina Mahathir
Malaysian policies often state that we are different and therefore cannot be compared with others. Yet those who join peaceful marches are likened to British rioters. Suddenly we are the same?
ARE we getting progressively schizophrenic? Judging by current responses to events around the world, it would be easy to conclude that we are. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses and to behave normally in social situations.
…
Talk about the inability to distinguish between reality and fantasy.
A certain amount of hypocrisy also rears its ugly head. What if Mark Duggan, the man who was shot by police in London and whose family’s peaceful protest became the original rallying cry for the rioters, was Mohamad Duggan?
Between 1987 and 1993 and 2000 and 2005, the Palestinian people went through two uprisings against the Israeli government, known as the First and Second Intifadas, respectively. Both Intifadas involved demonstrations, protests and, yes, a certain amount of violent rioting.
They were met with an even more violent response from the Israelis that resulted in many deaths and the eventual blockade of Gaza, still in force today.
Our government supported the Intifadas then. Does that mean that our government supports the right of Palestinians to demonstrate, protest and riot, but refuses its own people’s right to do much less, that is to just march peacefully?

Malaysia Says It Will Send Arms to Bosnians

SINGAPORE— In the first public breach of the United Nations ban on supplying arms to Bosnia, Malaysia said Sunday that it would ignore the embargo and send weapons to the Muslim-led government in Sarajevo.
In a clear sign of growing resolve by Islamic countries to become directly involved in the conflict, even if it means a wider, more intense war, Malaysian officials said that other Muslim nations were also committed to providing military aid to Bosnia.
Mahathir bin Mohamad, the Malaysian prime minister, said that while the UN and NATO forbade the supply of arms to all parties in the former Yugoslavia, separatist Serbs in Bosnia were getting weapons and oil to attack and seize territory held by the Bosnian government.
The UN and NATO were “allowing the slaughtering of Bosnians by the Serbs,” Mr. Mahathir said.
Analysts said that Kuala Lumpur’s decision to ignore the embargo was significant because Malaysia already has a substantial military presence in Bosnia and its views reflect those of many other governments of Muslim- majority countries.
Malaysia has more than 1,500 troops in Bosnia serving as peacekeepers with the UN Protection Force. It is the third largest contingent after Britain and France.
Mr. Mahathir’s statement followed a declaration by the Organization of Islamic Conference, which links nearly all the world’s Muslim-controlled states, that the UN arms embargo on Bosnia was “invalid.”
The declaration was issued Friday in Geneva following a meeting of the foreign ministers of Malaysia and seven other countries in the organization’s “contact group” on Bosnia.
They included Turkey, a NATO member, and Pakistan – both of which have troops with the UN in Bosnia – as well as Iran, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Senegal and Egypt.
Analysts said that the declaration was intended to encourage the U.S. Congress to defy President Bill Clinton and pass a resolution that would in effect oblige the administration to lift the UN arms embargo on Bosnia. The Senate is to vote on the measure on Tuesday.
America’s NATO allies say such a move would force them to withdraw their troops from the country to keep them from being caught up in intensified fighting between Bosnian and Serbian forces.
The Bosnian foreign minister, Mohammed Sacirbey, who attended the Islamic conference meeting, said afterward that he had received pledges of weaponry from a number of countries. He declined to say which ones.
There have been persistent reports for some time that Muslim countries have been channelling arms to the Muslim-led Bosnian government, but until Friday they had all formally recognized the embargo.
According to the declaration issued in Geneva, Islamic states that already have troops with the UN in Bosnia would leave them there, perhaps beefed up, if the UN Protection Force pulled out, Reuters reported.
Syed Hamid Albar, Malaysia’s defense minister, said recently that Kuala Lumpur wanted to double the strength of its battalion in Bosnia and supply it with long-range heavy weapons.
Razali Ismail, Malaysia’s ambassador to the United NAtions in New York, said Sunday that although Malaysia did not want the fighting in Bosnia to escalate, something decisive had to be done to enable the Bosnians to defend themselves against the Serbs, who are mainly Orthodox Christians.
The declaration by the Islamic conference sought to defuse concerns in Europe, promoted by the Serbs, that Muslim countries were intent on waging a “holy war” in defense of Islam in Bosnia.
The declaration said that Muslim states would give “all kinds of support” to strengthen the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a structure under which Bosnian Muslims and mainly Catholic Croats have joined in an uneasy alliance.
Chandra Muzaffar, a political scientist at the Science University in the Malaysian state of Penang, said Sunday that there were fears among some in the West that the emergence of a Muslim-led Bosnian state would strengthen Islam in a predominantly Christian Europe.
But he said that the sympathetic stand over Bosnia taken by individuals and aid agencies in the West, including Christian organizations, showed that the issue transcended religion.
Mr. Muzaffar said that Malaysia and other Muslim nations supporting Bosnia were responding to “a humanitarian cause involving helpless human beings trapped in a tragic situation.”

The Arab Spring is leberating several Arab coutnries from dictators. Countries like Egypt have huge human capital while Tunisia and Libya have large energy reserves and rich in minerals that can be mobilized to strengthen the overall Arab economy.
The post Mubarak Egypt was bold in rejecting IMF loans. I hope the liberated Arab countries will also make bolder moves and develop their countries fast.
great article Tun.. thanks!
Salam Tun,
Selamat berpuasa Tun sekeluarga…
Dear Dr Mahathir
Salaams
Imagine
(reject sectarian interests, be they racial, religious, ideological or territorial)
What are the chances of the ‘Arab Spring’ coming over to Malaysia? Yes, Tun, it will happen, not now; but it will. It is the reality of a failed Economy. But reprimand me for prejudging, Tun – an ignoramus pessimist; if you must say I am that.
Do we have a team with that great deal of skill and diplomacy on the ground and running in these trouble areas, Tun? Or we just do do’as? So much for the Way Forward, Dr Mahathir.
Thank you and Salam Takzim
Dear Dr Mahathir
Salaams
What are the chances of the ‘Arab Spring’ coming over to Malaysia?
Assalamualaikum.
Well, it looks like that the holy Ramadan is for Muslims (at least part of them), a holiday of people butchery.
The brave Terrorists, it this event last Thursday, Palestinians from Gaza had a good reason to attack 2 busses and civilian private cars and cold blood murder 8 people and injured 40 others.
This is not crimes against humanity. But when Israel retaliates it is crimes against humanity.
You are all a gang of hypocrites, terror supporters and the Arab spring is the best avidence of your hypocrisy. That hypocrisy is based on the fundamental hatred of Islam to those who are not complying the agenda. That’s why you are all divided in sections with deep enmity. Your deep enmity starts from your hatred to Jews, thus God cursed you with brothers’ hatred.

The worm nest in Gaza is the palace of terror in the name of Islam. Don’t cry when they will be hit, dont wipe your tears when their homes are destroied. They earned it, they deserve it and they will get it sooner or later.

Tun,
It is note-worthy that using a finger-print computerised voting system may result in the underground manipulation of the computerised voting result in order to make sure that the incumbent who rules will continue to win the election and rule again. Democracy is just a joke if the electoral voting system is subject to easy manipulation by the incumbent who rules.
The Barisan Nasional politicians have been found too rhetoric on the word “democracy” too often. However, it is indeed an irony for us to see that shameful demonstrations of an absurd model of democracy have been performed so frequently in Malaysia where the Inspector-General of Police and the General Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces would openly pledge their loyalty to the “Government” and not the Symbolic Figurehead of the Nation.
Salam Tun,
1. I think people have been united under the right model of Islam before, in the history of mankind. And that model would be the right religion. That Islam would be defined as belief in God.
2. I think countries that realises this model can achieve unity or re-unity quicker. Atheists are included in this belief. The belief in a god of no-god is also a belief in god.
Thank you kindly Tun.

1-Its really urgent for Najib to discover for himself just how popular he is inspite of all these ongoing people friendly /online initiatives done by him.He should not be foolish to trust any surveys made by his sychophantic ministers around him.
2-You see, today when I drove down to KL from USJ I only manage to tracked 5 vehicles with the mini jalur gemilang installed on their vehicles. One is DBKL car,one a police tow truck, one on a co.pick up truck, one big flag on a lorry, and many many flags on just two taxis. On private cars I am sorry I was not so fortunate to see.
3-When you were the PM Tun we were proud to have the JG installed on our cars.I even had one biggie hoisted at my house.Truly proud to be Malaysian we were then Tun.Only those who really despised you weren’t so patriotic. They were also just as many, but the cars with the flags were very easily located.
4-Yes Tun I believe a MALAYSIAN SPRING would manifest this PRU13.Unlike the Arab Spring though, this one would certainly be a positive one.It should contribute towards further developing our democratic process.Just as you yourself have advised the Arabs it would not be segregated on racial, religious, cultural or geographical lines .
5-Hopefully along the way, truly Malaysian parties would emerge, and racial parties like UMNO,MCA and MIC will be relegated to the political museum. Malaysian would then be ready for the challenges of the 21st century as true one-Malaysian,less all the rhetorics.
6-Of course you would disagree. We know,You love the Malays too much.As for me,its not that I love the Malays less, only that I love God more.
7-Once the Malays have gone through hell, they would resurrect UMNO and unite again. So Tun,don’t worry,be happy.Life is very short.
Thanks Tun.
Dearest Tun,
I truly think that Malaysians should read between the lines. I have, and yes!, I can’t agree more.
Thanks again.

the united nations (UN) grouped together with the main agenda of preventing future wars…but thus now…more wars have escalated making nonsense on UN purpose and discipline….its about time nations leave this organisation in protest as UN cannot guarantee peace amongst nations let alone guarding the soverign integrities its members. ABOLISH UN and its cronies.

Salam YAB & diKasihi Tun,
I totally AGREE with item 15:
// “15. The most important mindset for everyone to accept is that no one would get everything that he or his sect considers as being their entitlement. Everyone has to make some sacrifice so that there would be room for the others to participate.”//
Terima kasih Tun.
*** Semoga Allah SWT melindungi Tun sekeluarga. ***
Every muslims should heed our prophet warning about going againts leaders. He always disaprove it and seems like no one listen.
Tun,
There are already two sectarian divisions jockeying for position to restore the ‘Khalifa’.
The Sunni Right-Wing extremist Muslim Brotherhood led by Yusuf Qaradawi the Mufti of Egypt and Recep Tayip Erdogan soon to be Dictator of Turkey. Already, he has culled the military leadership and reshaped Turkeys constitution into the direction of a Sunni Religious Banner. It is no surprise that in the last days Turkey will play a leading role in uniting the Caliphate. Qaradawi in a speech in Tahrir Square rallied 2 million Egyptians to continue the revolution ‘to witness the conquest of Al Aqsa’ with the crowds chanting ‘Amen, Amen, Amen,,,’.
The Iranian Shia establishment pouring all its resources in keeping Assad’s regime alive while he continues to butcher his people with impunity. Where is the outrage and laments for Muslims in Syria? Hezbollah’s stranglehold in Lebanon and the murder of Hariri. The Iranians stretching its influence out from Iraq to Sudan and hoping the Arab Spring will de-stabilize King Abdullah’s Saudi Regime. Ahmadinejad blatantly continues to pray in-front of the UN hastening the returning of the Mahdi
and calls Israel a “stinking corpse” which is doomed to disappear.
Hating Israel is a dangerous game. Could a united Islamist Caliphate achieve this goal? Are they really sure God is on their side? Is it unreasonable for 5.5 million Palestinians to become Jordanians and allow the Israelis 0.5% of the land in the middle-east. It seems to me greed is not accepting 99.5% of what Muslims have in the middle-east as is, but rather, not accepting the only Jewish country on the earth. As a Christian, i accept that Constantinople and the seat of the Coptic Church and Lands are no longer tenable. Your Brethren have seen to it
any remnant will be gone soon. I leave it to Yeshua to judge your Brethren.
There is nothing miraculous about 1.5 billion Muslims defeating 8 Million Israelis. The miracle is how Yahweh will continue to lead Israelis against those who seek to destroy the Jews. It took Gideon seven days to defeat Jericho and on the morning of the seventh day in 1967 the combined Arab Armies were defeated. Why are there Seven Candles on a Minaret ? If you think Iran gaining nuclear weapons equates to defeating
Israel. ‘Get ready; be prepared’ (Ezekiel 38: 7)
Peace Be With You in Jesus Name
Assalamualaikum Tun.
Terima kasih Tun.
Ain’t talkin’, just walkin’

Tun,
I think there is a need to understand what causes this upheavals which started in Tunisia and spread through out the middle east.
The momentum of this upheavals do not seem to die out.
I think technology plays a strong part in this matter.
Social website in the internet such as Facebook and twitter is used to organized, communicate and plan the masses of people to stage protest to dictators in their respective country. At one time or another, the internet had been halted by the respective governments due to this.
Even the riot in England, the participants, most of them youngsters used facebook and twitter to gather masses of people together.
A few hundred years ago, the west implemented the strategy of “divide and conquer” in the arab lands. Somehow the invention of Internet by the West (Scientist from CERN) have resulted the boundaries of the Arab to disappear.
The bond between the arabs are strong because their culture, language and religion are very similar.
The momentum of the upheavals had spread to multiple of countries, all fed up with the dictatorship, now the people want the power to be given to the people in a democratic governance.
In short , the arabs is now wise up and closer together then before and they want their rights, thanks to the technology created by the west.
I doubt very much that they want things to be as before. Perhaps, democracy might not be easily and may take time to be implemented successfully, dictatorship style governance by dictators who ruled for decades no longer tolerated anymore by the arabs.
Why have to be worried to what happen”, we can not aspect things went right at all time” this is the world where’s lied behind democracies. Sometime thing are meant to be as it is, just lets be gone. Arab spring ??? or whatever, democracy have their price you’ll gets as what your paid. The people who do the think and thought are more to be ware off before then a democracy talk.
Good evening Tun,
473. PM Najib is replacing the 5th PM after Pak Lah lost 4 states and BN term only expires in May 2013.
474. Voters are only allow to vote 3 years after they registered as voters.
475. Do we need to lower the voter age from 21 to 18 years?
476. I will only encourage my children to register themselves when they are mature and start to understand politics so that they will not be influenced by political parties.
477. If parti pembangkang is capable to be the representative in the Kerajaan Negara, tell them to make official statement that they will contest under Pakatan Rakyat for GE13.
478. Kalau tak berani, then, don’t talk too much because they are not Bapa Pemodenan UMNO Mahathir Mohamad nor Bapa Pemodenan PAP Lee Kuan Yew.
479. Bersih atau dirty, Bar Council, PAS, PKR and DAP can solve our economic woes without BN?
480. Yes, 27. In the end it is up to the people whether they want a good Government or not. Democracy will give them a choice but democracy requires an understanding of its limitations. If this is understood and the rights are not abused, then democracy will give a good Government.
481. Instead of wasting time in meeting rakyat, PM Najib should stay in the office and work.
Tun,
I just copy paste this piece of news that will depreciate US dollar further and can make RM back to 2.40 level in the near future and you have made the right choice to de-peg RM to US dollar.

//14. The people too need to reject sectarian interests, be they racial, religious, ideological or territorial.//
1-This will be the greatest challenge for these people. Can the Syites ,the Abrahamic (anti -hadis)and Sunnis unite.Likewise can the Coptic Christians, the Catholic,Muslims and the Jews ? In the Middle East, the answer to all these is very unlikely.Instead they will each be a political unit on their own to defend their interest.
2-The best they can do-the strongly Muslim party-the likes of Sunni Ikhwan Muslimin,on one side and the Sy’ites or secular modernist Muslim parties that will merge with the rest,on the other. There will still be a religious segregation like it or not.
3-Their hope of unity is only to emulate the Iranian shite model. But you must be a strongly syite majority country first before you can do that.
4-If they have no oil reserves and is not strategic to the interest of the West than maybe they may have more democratic freedom to form their own Governments as they are either of no threat or no interest to the powers.Otherwise only the parties that are willing to listen to them will be supported, and vice verse.
5-I think the West would find it easier to manipulate countries that are already governed by autocracies. It is also easier to topple autocracies too like how they ended Saddam Hussain when it is expedient for them. All newly formed democracies in the Middle East will eventually return to autocracy. It’ll be square one again.
6-Maybe these nations won’t just have a chance to experience a true democratic government because the powers that be may just refuse to give them the opportunity to become stabled, develop countries like the rest of the world.A strong and developed Middle East is bad for we know who?
7-I do not believe there is hope in the Middle East for democracy or even true peace,Tun.But of course there is no harm in trying.
8-In fact I only think that worse times are a coming,as the Zionist fast forward their imperial agenda in the region.
9-God bless our brothers in the Middle East.
Thanks Tun.
Nice article Tun.
