1.We all know what a lobby is. But in the U.S. lobby refers largely to people specialising in influencing the Government through their contacts with the Congressmen and Senators and members of the Government including the President. We don’t have lobbyistsin Malaysia. They would be considered as cronies of the Government.
2.In the U.S. the lobbyists are paid to work for certain interests. The Cuban lobby at one time lobbied successfully for the U.S. Government to purchase sugar from Cuba. There was also a lobby firm which was hired by Malaysia to influence the U.S. Government not to undermine the tin, rubber and palm oil markets. We were not very successful.
3.But the most powerful lobby in the U.S. is the AIPAC (America Israel Public Affairs Committee). It can reach the President, all members of the American Government and all Congressmen and Senators as well as their staff at any time. This lobby which was responsible for U.S. support for the setting up of Israel and subsequent pro-Israel policies, is so powerful that candidates for President and other offices in the U.S. Government have to literally pledge support for Israel to his lobby or they would lose in elections.
4.An American Congressman of five terms lost the election after he wrote a book exposing the influence of the Jewish lobby. So powerful is AIPAC that not only does it ensure U.S. support for Israel policies but also U.S. funding of billions of dollars to the Israel Government.
5.For the U.S. the lobby system is totally democratic as ownership of firearms by all citizens is democratic. Malaysians would never think of condemning this system. For Malaysians, especially the liberal NGOs, and the opposition, everything and anything that is done by the U.S. and the West are regarded as democratic. They would never condemn the US for this blatant fee-based influence-pedalling.
6.And of course we will agree to the TPPA irrespective of how much the majority of Malaysians are against it.
7.Clearly while the West condemns us for not allowing freedom of the press and cronyism, the west is blatantly practising censorship and cronyism.
8.I will not mention other undemocratic practises of the great advocates and crusaders for democracy and clean Government. Tapping phone calls and writing dossiers on their own citizens are now accepted democratic practices in the name of patriotism and national security.
Yb ds ong tk, decline this offer if bn chairman cant stop capital hudud punishment in kelantan. There is no 2 ways on this as non muslim in malaysia because of the 5 prinsip rukun negara.

Berani ambil DS Ong TK?
I am not a politician, I m not a lobbyist. But I m very sure if umno baru continues thieir stand in making malaysia an islamic country just to win malay votes, they will be greatest loosers in next ge.

National school does not teach us this, but it will good if we can take a look how the world fiat money works. To me, I always see the glass half full, and I believe fiat money out of thin air is not bad at all for the policy makers at the frederal level to pounder. Why? When make policy, dont look at race or religion, it will complicate the process making. Malaysians aint stupid, but political parties are stupid to think that voters must support them. My best bet is pm najib, but he cant do much not because he is no good, he cant do much because umno baru is pressuring him from taking a bold step to avoid middle income trap that will definitely will squeeze the pockets of middle income earners which the opposition parties will play until they got elected in the next ge. Give us hope, let us have the desire to fulfill our dreams as malaysians. We cant changed what went wrong, but we definitely can improve what went wrong. It is what we have learned in the past lesson, we will apply this lesson in the future. Dont stop in the middle. Either we change, or be changed.

For sudin. You are great. I have been with this Singapore thingy since October 1951. Maybe I am the only person with the details from 1951 – 2014. What I do not like is for one human being to make a mockery of another through lies. I appreciate your comments with their gems of wisdom very much. Despite, the wandering recalcitrants, I am confident that the good people outnumber the bad and our beloved Malaysia will prevail.
Salam Tun.
To mubarakchan,
Other than the use of the words nyonya sayur or vege seller, I’ve long stopped any other reference on its existence, including mentioning its name.
I envy you for your vast knowledge, great memories even to the details, and most of all the full truth in your postings irrespective of who’s on the other/receiving end.
There are times when we have to consider being polite to everyone has its limits.
That ungrateful thing never realise how very fortunate for it to even survive in this world with the little brain and almost no intelligent that it possesses, and which it continually and directly has been trying to tell to everyone.
Tun
From today HockBengTeohhalfpastsic. I will not respond to your politically moitvated juvenile and confused comments from a non-entity of no standing.
If I am you, Mubarak Chan, I will always see the glass as half full, politically. Why stir up the old wounds of the past wars that can never be healed for many generations to come?
Tun
For Karl. The opposition to the TPPA is not a question of not doing business with the United States and only doing business with China. It is the encapsulation of the complete freedom of Malaysia’s business endeavours and enterprises which are geared to balance the apparent internal imbalance by the TPPA with its Devil in the fine print or nitty-gritty.
Let us be reminded that the 19 rounds of secret negotiations must have been engineered by the country with the most interest in the success of the IPPA which is Singapore. We have been taken for a ride by the 1962 Water Agreement, the rush to deliver the Pulau Batu Puteh and now this TPPA which has so many volumes of text to be digested and at the end, if any wrong doing Malaysia is advised to go to a hall of justice. Singapore has been preparing an arbitration tribunal hub more than 10 years ago. See the vision. See the money.
I have an uneasy feeling that there might be some conflict of interest somewhere in the Malaysian negotiating team of civil servants ! Remember Wikileaks exposure on the surveillance by Singapore on her best friends and abang adeks and the information was passed on to Third Parties since 1972.
Malaysia should do business with all countries if it does not impinge on her sovereignty, national interest, self-esteemed. A book of how smart Singpore was in the Pulau Batu Putih saga was published 3 years ago
Kari, if RIP, is not ecouraged to use by muslim because is a huruf alphabet orang putih, wow, for muslim vvip, if they buy LV, adakah mereka dikeji national fatwa? It is an open secret umno baru buat kerugian duit taxpayers, contohnya, NFL.
HBT6,
YOu are worse than the discriminative America Lobbyist group by believing and writing this statement –
“It wont be surprised if american with mixed iranian blood becomes 1st president of the usa if he is raised in the american christianity way of life”…
Is it so democratic that America has to restrict that only a person who has “American” “Christianity” “Way of Life” can be the President of the USA ?
Through HBT6 statement refering to “Democracy in USA” , we can bel sure that the Democratic Action Party only uses – “Democracy” as a hypocrisy tool to hoodwink the people, and when they are in power , then they will restrict that a person need to be living the “DAP” way of life before they can be the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Salam Tun,
merujuk kepada poin Tun: # 6. And of course we will agree to the TPPA irrespective of how much the majority of Malaysians are against it.
3. If we have to choose between the two evils, I believe it’s better we do business with the US who are far more civilised than the China people and their government plus the local Chinese who are 97% DAPigs breed. Oink.
🙂

How many of us realise that the Opposition’s leadership is at its lowest ebb today ?
The media reported that President Obama has declined to meet the de facto leader of the Opposition. The latter’s kaleidoscopic encyclopedia of actions since 1982 or 1972, with the apparent backing of American support all these years has bcecome a zero sum game to the think-tanks of Washington DC. The whole whole loves a WINNER.
There were the many BERSIH BERSIHS, followed by the men in black. One thing I noticed is that the good lady who had a very small set of suites in a KL building has since been ennobled and are now doing great things representing the big shots of the Opposition in conflict with the Government.
The sad thing were the many attempts to turn our beloved Malaysia into Malaysian Springs. This ended without a whimper and whoever responsible should now realised that it does not pay to be a copycat if we go back to basics – which is the history of the Arab World.
The Arab States of today were created out of 2 World Wars by the British and the French after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1919 which held sway for al least over 400 years before this and did not practise Western Democracy.
Whoever thought up the Arab Spring thingy must have been very hard up for a job at Washington DC.
All the Arab Springs failed across the Arab World. The suddenly enfranchised populace was expected to vote in a liberal minded Western type of Government of which they knew nothing about. As it is said by Prime Minister Curtin, ‘ two Wongs do not make a right.’ After a huge loss of lives of innocent men, women and children, all the Arab States so affected are back to square one PLUS INSTABILITY which is of no good to anybody especilly those who believes in ‘Globailzation, Free Trade and Human Rights’. This is best illustrated by the fate of Mr Humpty Dumpty.
Syria was in peace and harmony.
The Arab Spring leaped-frog and arrived on its door-step. In no time at all, 200,000 innocent men, women and children died or injured. Another 2 millions were displaced from their centuries old homes. What a mess ! Syrian before this was already contained. But to fail and not to succeed with Arab Spring, someone must be accountable for all these fiascos of Arab Spring !
Audacious opponents who had benefitted much including the DAP with a Singapore bias from the BN tried to copy-cat the failed prototype of Arab Spring. And their fizzled out is concomitant failure of an ill-thought out adventure.
The Malaysian Spring already took place with the aborted Malayan Union of 1946 !
The Ukraine caper must be the icing on top of the cake pf failure. The Ukrainians were encouraged to revolt every night and when the crunch time came for the West to produce the hardware, nothing was delivered. All the tough talk from NATO turned gibberish when the proponents were faced with the real and ruffled Russian bear. And now all those gents who encouraged the Ukranians to revolt are now talking about de-escalation which escalation never happened in the first place because the cards were all in the Russian hands.
We may treat this as politics, I suppose. Like our Malaysian Bersih Bersihs, one gainer and the rest losers !
Tun perak, it wont be surprised if american with mixed iranian blood becomes 1st president of the usa if he is raised in the american christianity way of life. Any american can be be the president of the usa if he or she capture the aspiration of the american dream under ticket democrat or republican. As I said, in a democratic country like malaysia with the Tuhan way of life, any malaysians can be pm one day under ticket bn or pr. The rest is history.
This article is very clear. The problem statement in the article is not really about “Lobby System” but it is about the discrimination and the hypocrisy of the West who are also the advocates and crusaders of the democracy agenda.
Much so, it is the United States of America and Russia who wage Middle East countries with weaponry and etc. to fight it’s proxy war in Iran; and the cold war elsewhere but once some of them , for example Saddam Hussein has gone overboard by invading Kuwait, they hanged Saddam.
Now, with all the American and foreign lobbyist did the lobby to ensure some dictatorial leadership in the Mid-East retain power and ensure the region is always in conflict, we have the people in the Middle East trapped in the “Dark Ages” of the modern society which lacks education, health and economic growth. So, where did the good muslim in the middle east go? In a very interesting turn of event, many of the good Middle Eastern people migrated to the West and America and contributed to the advancement of the knowledge and society in the West while it is the West who fueled the dictator with weaponry and applied economic sanction on these Middle Eastern countries to ensure that these countries flounder. Sheer hipocrisy but a top class strategy.
Allow me to give several example of “American Genius” or soon to be “American Geniuses” originated from the Middle East.
The most valued tech company in the world according to my subjective opinion is founded by the son of an Arab Syrian immigrant – keyword “Apple Inc.”, “Steve Jobs” and “Abdul Fattah Jandali”.
An article by “Newsweek” – http://www.newsweek.com/surprising-success-irans-universities-87853 stated that
(1) “Stanford University’s Electrical Engineering Department were startled when a group of foreign students aced the notoriously difficult Ph.D. entrance exam, getting some of the highest scores ever. That the whiz kids weren’t American wasn’t odd; students from Asia and elsewhere excel in U.S. programs. The surprising thing, say Stanford administrators, is that the majority came from one country and one school: Sharif University of Science and Technology in Iran”. and…. ,
(2) “Silicon Valley companies from Google to Yahoo now employ hundreds of Iranian grads, as do research institutes throughout the West. Olympiad winners are especially attractive; according to the Iranian press, up to 90 percent of them now leave the country for graduate school or work abroad.”
My experience while studying Kanji (Chinese Characters) in Japan…. top student with almost 100% mark is from Iran, second top student with average score of 96% mark is an Arab from Algeria….a Chinese student came at 90% score mark and this poor Malaysia student is with average 84% marks, still an A but a so-so A type.
Well while I hated to say that the world has the reversal of “dark age” with a pattern that matches only about 80% of previous medieval age, but due to this phenomena, the seed of new Islamic modern communities is actually growing in the West, led by a Cambridge professor – Prof. Tariq Ramadan.
Going back to Malaysia – this wonderful nation has a lot more spaces to grow into a prosperous nation if certain criteria is fulfilled.
First – “Stability” – the country need to be stable , or else citizen mind will be pre-occupied with “waging war” and we lose the precious time to ensure our generation is well-educated and gain the wealth for themselves and everybody surrounding them. The leaders need to say to those “street demonstrators” we need stability or else everyone will suffer.
Second – “Strong Opinion in the International Arena” – instead of becoming followers, this nation leadership needs to be the trend-setter or the agenda setters for international reform (we need to reform the West and the America and those external parties who tend and has the intention to oppress us) movers and shakers. Without strong opinion and leadership, it is hard to unite the country multiracial groups and move them in a productive direction while protecting the nation interest.
Third – “Genuity in Thinking and Thoughts” – Leaders should not act only as signatories to paperwork written by others with the help of consultants and their cohorts like the American McKinsey, BCG , and ect.; but Leaders need to put their fingers on top of the work itself hands-on with the objective – to ensure that the nation interest come first during the implementation of the strategist.
With this three criterias being put in the forefront, it is very unlikely that “Foreign Lobbyist” get a free hand and easy jobs to chart this nation direction according the “Foreign Democratic Agenda”.
Mubarak chan, like it or not, dap, pkr and pas are here to stay forever. If you cant adapt to rapid economic growth, staying in small town or kampung to continue kutipan zakat whereby non muslim is not wajib to do that will make you happier, go for it.
Tun
Here is a solid example of a lobby.
From 2001 to 2005 before the advent of the 2 casinos, Singapore’s meritocrats were in a flap when the GDP dipped below 7 after the decades of the heady years of the Cold War. By 1991 the Americans came up with ‘ Globalization, free trade, human rights.’ which is anathema to the traditional Singaporean ways of doing things and making money. The meritocrats from the now defunct meritocratic pyramid came up with a FREE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT with the United States leading the pack. When it was launched in 2006 by Singapore , only 2 countries, New Zealand and Chile showed interest.
These were the heady days of pre October 2008. The leading lights of the Western World were not interested. But the opportunity came Singapore’s way after October 2008 which is confirmed by the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew’s with his 15 failed Policies for Singapore, in June 2009. He must have been much encouraged by Singapore’s LOBBY of Washiington DC to do the TPPA as the leading light and Washington DC agreed. Hence, the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew made his audacious trip to the Ulus to examine at first hand that the ground is fertile – in preparation of the ANT RIDING THE DONKEY ACT !
The introduciton of the 2 casinos has its limitations as a stop-gap morale boosting event for the ordinary folk. BUT THE TPPA IS SUSTAINABLE AND ENDURING FOR SINGAPORE AS IT OPENS THE MARKET OF MALYASIA FOREVER AND EVER. And the appeals to the courts to undo any wrong doing – this is a pipe-dream. Malaysia has not got a good record in the international halls of justice.
IF MALAYSIA DRINKS THIS POISONED CHALICE TPPA, MALAYSIA DIES PRONTO, SINGAPORE LIVES FOREVER AND EVER AT OUR EXPENSE !
Tun, is it not that this Singapore-Washington DC-TPPA saga reveals to all what lobbyists can do ?
Tun
I support Sibotak with one sentence. According to HockBengTeohhalfpastsic. ‘ I love you very much Chedet, but I hate the buffoonery of the BN, the UMNO, the MCA etc leaders and especially that 100 year old mubarakchan. I vote for BN the last time as promised !”

HockBengTeohhalfpastsic. You have not answered my question. What do you hope to achieve with your confused pasar malam ramblings, ravings and rantings ? Also, until you have a clear mind about what is what, maybe your words are worth some consideration. For your record, I was NEVER a MCA politician. I was invited to stand in the Kuala Kubu State seat of Selangor, 1969 and Tun Tan Siew Sin’s Federal seat of Batu Berendam, Melaka.1973. Facts are facts. Where were you ?
Tun
Saya nak ucapkan terimakasih kerana telah menjadi pm malaysia selama 22 tahun.
Terima kasih kerana telah menghidupkan umno baru.

Terima kasih kerana menghentam yahudi.

Salam Tun,

Yes, I also need to have an answer for the below:
Why are the Jews so important to USA ?

I like to ask HockBengTeohhalfpastsic, just one question.
With your pasar malam ramblings, what are you trying to achieve ?

The question is why and what USA need from Israel. It is nothing about Israel been a developed and large economy. China and Russia economy are much larger, bigger, faster and more developed country than Israel. Why USA dont protect and support China and Russia? For Malaysia politics, it is not the party but it is about the people that leading the party. Dont be too sure that PR is a better, they are all the same. My opinion is dont fall into any political trap by any political group and be a slave to them. Voters are just nobody, when they want your votes they come looking for you and after GE all of them only take-care of their pockets and family. The better way is for the voters to demand service and accountability from them in black and white (better sign with their blood as ink) before election, dont just accept or take their promises as they can never keep their promises. Why I say that is because if a person is genuine and sincere he/she will not pick politics as their profession or cari-makan.

Assalamualaikum Tun.
Terima kasih Tun.
So hbt? Apa mau cakap lagi?
Cakap la tun anti-sematic.
Hahaha. Kan u tu jews of the east.
The pendatang of Tanah MELAYU.
Apa lagi aso mau spin? Tanam sayur lah aso. Jadi aso cina bukit. Ajak balance sekali..
Damn jews of the east.
I am very sure VP UMNO, DS Hishamuddin will find it honored and very challenging being asked by CNN senior journalist, but, the bodyguard pushed this journalist in the of the land of USA, to show the world that cikgu kencing, murid kencing berlari.
PM Najib was right, “the era of government knows all is over” in Malaysia.
Look at PKR, all Chinese politicians berundur from VP contest, and this shown that they know where they stand. Send Anwar Ibrahim to jail or punish him with stiffer punishment, tak da masalah, kan PKR ada Wan Azizah as President? Bribing ala lobby no longer works today. Punish Karpal Singh pun takda masalah, since Gerakan lost Penang, MCA lost all Chinese votes in the Peninsula.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel
Israel is a representative democracy with a parliamentary system, proportional representation and universal suffrage.[25][26] The Prime Minister serves as head of government and the Knesset serves as Israel’s unicameral legislative body. Israel is a developed country and an OECD member,[27] with the 43rd-largest economy in the world by nominal gross domestic product as of 2012. Israel has the highest standard of living in the Middle East and the third highest in Asia,[28] and among the highest life expectancies in the world.[29]
balance, the questions that you asked have shown that you do not even read and understand simple facts of Israel and you go and put irrelevant questions and you named them as difficult questions. The rest is history, Malaysians are more matured in democracy and there is no way BN can win 2/3 majority in the future via vote bribing and fear mongering.

Tun,
Dont condemn them as a matter of fact we should encourage them to continue their funding and all other things. By condemning them we actually teaching them to find solutions to avoid mistakes and failure. We must encourage them so that they will think that they are so so right and mighty then only they can make mistakes and it is the only way to shorten their evil ways. Time is the only medicine to cure evil doing, no one can stop the mighty USA only the citizen of USA can do something. If the citizens of USA are so stupid not to realize that their Govt is taking their money to fund a few people agendas then it is their suffering and fate. As long as Malaysian Govt is not doing the same we shall live in peace, happiness and harmony. You have the capabilities to ensure we are not following those stupid ways. Anyway, it is better to ask ourselves first whether we are doing those same things of funding a few people for no reasons.
Difficult questions:
Why are the Jews so important to USA?
What is there in Israel the USA need or want?
