THE MALAYSIAN IMMUNITY

1. The economy of the world is in a state of turmoil. Not only has the oil price tumbled from USD 110/- to less than USD 60/-, but palm oil price, rubber price, share prices and the exchange rate of the Ringgit have all taken a beating, a severe beating.

2. All these things involve us, Malaysian, our commodities and our money. But we are assured and reassured that we would not be affected. We will continue to grow at the projected rate.

3. Are we!!

4. Inflation is at 3%. Can we believe it would not affect our purchasing power i.e. can we continue to buy all those things we use to buy, all the food, clothing etc.

5. Driving, flying may cost less. But earnings by Petronas will diminish a lot. And the Government used to get billions from Petronas. Will Petronas pay to Government the same amount as when 1 bbl cost USD130/-. Common sense, (not so common a commodity) says it will not. And that must affect the 2015 Government budget which was presented when oil price was at USD110/- per barrel.

6. Palm oil growers and rubber growers especially the latter are not complaining that they are not making money, certainly not the huge profits they use to make. Government has decided to help them with monetary gifts.

7. But when these people are not making money or making less money, the corporate and other taxes they pay must be less. So Government revenue will once again go down. But now Government has to give money to them. How does the Government do this without down-sizing the budget provisions for other Government obligations and needs?

8. Then there are the various impacts on business and the general public.

9. Business may or may not benefit from the fall in petroleum price. Those in the transport industry such as bus companies and airline may benefit.

10. Those involved in the oil and gas industries will suffer. They had invested at the time when oil prices were high, hoping to repay loans from the proceeds of the sale of products. With low product price they will need to sell more in a weak market to acquire funds to repay loans.

11. Contractors will find payments delayed or requests for revisions. Some contracts may have to be cancelled.

12. The depreciation of the Ringgit will affect the repayments of loans taken in USD. On the other hand imported raw materials and components would cost more, neutralizing the gain from the cost of production. There may be a demand for wage increases and revision of rates as the Ringgit devalues. Inflation will be the result.

13. For the general public there must be a lowering of the purchasing power of their incomes when acquiring imported goods or when abroad. However incoming travelers may increase if proper marketing is done.

14. Overall the worst effect will be felt by those who had borrowed in USD or have to pay for purchases made in USD.

15. Clearly the unprecedented fall in oil price and other products for export must be met with revisions in everyone’s budget. The corporations and the Government need to study closely the effect on earnings and cost of doing business. They cannot be lulled by the gains from lower cost of oil alone. Loss of income and higher costs of imports must be taken into account.

16. We are a small producer of oil, said to be 650,000 barrels a day. We are also a great consumer of oil since our use of motor vehicles is the highest in ASEAN in terms of per capita ownership. It would not be too far wrong to assume that any gain from lower oil price will be negated by lowered earnings from Petronas oil and gas. It is the same with gains in other sectors, as they will always be accompanied by losses. The important thing is to know how much is the gain as against the losses.

17. Simply assuming that we are immune to the massive and widespread decline in the prices of almost all the raw materials and goods we produce for consumption and export does not reflect the depth of our understanding of the problems we face.

18. We are a trading nation and changes affecting the world market must affect us one way or another.

  1. Salam Tun,
Saya ingin memohon izin buat pembetulan ejaan dalam posting saya terdahulu

    Sepatutnya kemelesetan
    berita palsu

  2. Salam Tun,
Wallahu alam.

  3. Salam YAB & Yg diKasihi Tun,

    Mohon izin Tun:

    Terima kasih Saudara Karl @ https://thechedet.com/?p=1568#comment-121675 ,

Pemerhatian blogger Hajar memang berdasarkan fakta.

Terima kasih ayahanda Tun. “You are simply the best!”

  5. Salam YAB & Yg diKasihi Tun,

Contohnya, mereka miskin/malas pun salah Kerajaan. Yang kaya pula tidak tahu bersyukur.

    Terima kasih Tun.

My eyes dropped out when I gleaned the front page of the august Malay Mail Friday 23 January 2015. The giant headline. ‘ KUMAR STARVES AT ROS.’ To the uninitiated, ROS is not a lady but the Registrar of Societies , Putrajaya ! And in the background was the picture of a well-fed and rotund political gentleman who swore he would fast to death until his last breath outside the cold and unfriendly offices of the Registrar of Societies, Putrajaya.

My first reaction was that it reminded me of my comment on why the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP with their Oppostiion cohorts failed to win Putrajaya in 3 EASY STEPS. The last step was to fast for 100 days in the 3rd Class Ward of the KLGH during the 13th General Elections. My second reaction was that I knew our Nation is a nation of copy-cats. But little did I realize that the Net is so effective these days as to reach down to the deepest recesses of our society so quickly. And so it is, a political gentleman through his frustration decided to express his feelings and draw the attention of the authorities by a dramatic act. But unfortunately, he did not read my comment thoroughly on how to prepare to do a dramatic fast. He did not last 100 days nor did he last 24 hours. He gave up after 10 hours as he was not well prepared. He should have studied how Gandhi did fasting in Mother India to get the right results.

I expect from this point onwards and beginning with this political gentleman, more Malaysian politicians will jump on board this NEW FANCY IDEA IN POLITICAL DEMONSTRATIONS WHICH IS BETTER THAN RISKING INNOCENT LIVES AND INJURIES IN THE HOT AND HUMID STREETS OF KL. This is cost and time efficient. I wish all intended participants in POLITICAL FASTING the very best of luck especially the ennobled ex-lawyer who began with yellow T-shirts and now operating on a higher plane of human endeavour. POLITICAL FASTING IS THE EPITOME OF EXPRESSION OF ONE’S POLITICAL WILL AND SINCERITY a’la Gandhi. Acheh!

  7. Salam Tun,
Izinkan saya memberi pendapat tentang comment Puan Hajar berikut,

    “”HajarJanuary 22, 2015 at 5:32 PM | Permalink””

Wallahu alam.

There was a screaming headline yesterday,’ WILL WE EVER RECOVER MAS LOST FUNDS DURING DR M’s FOLLY ? A typical brainwashing one-liner without any substantive facts to back this headline which was meant to be eye-catching and emotional.

Fortunately, in recent years there have been substantive evidence from the United States after the Wall Street Crash of October 2008 to show that gigantic bail-outs of the AIG, the whole motor industry except Ford and the banks, are the norm in the NATIONAL INTEREST. These industries all went bust due to no fault of their own but were affected by external factors.

On the snide remarks as engendered by this keen-to-kill article in this Opposition Blog, we fortunately also have a good example, very good in fact from the balmy squeaky clean tiny Republic of Singapore from which many adherents of the Opposition draw their spiritual faith in political terms. The example of human fables and foibles :-

    Vide. http://www.tremeritus.com/2014/12/04/the-scholar-system-is-broken/
It was reported by this popular website that a top Singapore Presidential Scholar gained notoriety by strolling down Lorong Mambong in Holland Village on a crowded Saturday evening 24 January 2009 at about 11 pm with nothing on but her birthday suit.

For the folly of this brilliant Singapore Presidential Scholar who went up to the brilliant Ruler’s (1959 – 2015) ex-university, Cambridge, do we blame the President of the Republic of Singapore and the Ruler – 1959 -2015 ?

The good brilliant lady Scholar has the improbable name, E___K___Er. Which naturally gives rise to the pun,’ TO ER IS HUMAN, TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE.’

Likewise, who can blame our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the MAS fiascos which only ended in 2014 even by guys who had the Midas Touch ! Unlike the Malaysian GLCs of today which are copy cat versions of the tiny Republic of Singapore’s GLCs, the policy at the material time was to foster the build-up of large Bumiputra business enterprises. Before 2004, the BN Government was not involved in the business of making money through the administration by civil servants with no ownership or accountability. This present policy is the first in the World next to Singapore’s which did it for a different purpose in a country tightly ruled and tightly controlled by one Ruler 1959 – 2015.

And do we blame the Minister on the MH17 crash when he commented, ‘ NO ONE TOLD US NOT TO USE THAT ROUTE.’ My father did not tell me not to drive if I have no driving licence !

Brutal, cunning vulgar and vindictive remarks on the Net used to rule the roost once upon a time. It is time we as mature Malaysians demand a proper form of argument and complaint in keeping with the fact that we are Malaysians and not something else manipulated by hidden hands outside of jurisdicition through proxies for the benefit of the very few.

As I explained before, it was the closest aides of our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who let him down. How is he to know that the fellow in question had a gala time of fun and games, bought a glass house at Cromwell Road, London SW for his personal use etc. The Tun’s job as a Prime Minister is to overseer the BROAD STROKES OF POLICIES IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST – HE HAS TO THINK BIG, HE HAS TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX. THE PRIME MINISTER IS NOT A INQUIRING POLICEMAN FINDING FAULT WITH INDEPENDENT ADULTS. The very fact that this article tries to smear him, a great Statesman of the World, shows that those who benefitted from him IMMENSELY want MORE OF THE SAME. I have no quarrel with this. We practise FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY WITH OPEN CAPITALISTIC CHARACTERISTICS unlike the other place which practises ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICS AND SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY IMPOSED ON ITS CITIZENS BY THE RULER 1959 – 2015 THROUGH APPARATCHIKS. This System has now gone TOXIC.

  9. Salam YAB & Yg diKasihi Tun,

    1. Menurut PM, negara kita tidak mengalami krisis ekonomi/kewangan.

    http://www.utusan.com.my/berita/nasional/kita-tidak-dilanda-krisis-8211-najib-1.50459

    http://www.businessinsider.my/the-world-economy-in-2015-2014-12/

    Adakah Ekonomi Malaysia KEBAL?

    Terima kasih Tun.

*** Semoga Allah SWT sentiasa melindungi Tun sekeluarga. ***

It seems the early part of the New Year 2015 was selected to do a’ putsch’ through a ‘blizkreig’ of Internet lies through different Opposition Blogs every day. Fortunately, these hired hacks know nothing more than the superficiality of the simple headliners which were meant to catch the eye . For example :-

    1. ” CANCEL NS ALTOGETHER.” I commented why the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP did not complain from 2004 to 2014 and only complain now – to pour oil on latent fires. And the fact which I brouight up that the NS was one of the main grouses of the Malaysian Chinese in their mis-guided vote for the DAP. Where is the MCA ?

    2. ” BREAK YOUR SILENCE OF DAIM, NAJIB TOLD.” I commented that now is the wonderful opportunity for all politicians to lay down their cards on the table. IT IS NOT FAIR TO VICTIMISE ONE PERSON IN A FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY WITH OPEN CAPITALISITIC CHARACTERISTICS WHICH IS UNLIKE THE ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM AS IMPOSED ON THE CITIZENS BY THE RULER 1959 – 2015 IMPLEMENTED BY APPARATCHIKS.

    3. ” WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR DR M’S DEBT BALLOON.” I commented that this is the most unprofessional blurb of all. JUST AN ALLEGATION WITHOUT ANY ITEMISED FIGURE OR DOCUMENT. I retorted ‘ How the humongous loss of US$ 108 billions by the Singapore Government at Wall Street in October 2008 would be re-paid by the Singapore Government to the CPF contributors ?”

For want of any substantive fact or document to use as a weapon, any eye-catching headline will do. This is the last desperate act of the hired recalcitrants.

IT IS THE DEFINITIVE COMPARISON OF THE TWO POLITICAL SYSTEMS OF MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE WHICH WILL DEFLATE THE PUTRAJAYA POWER SEEKERS. Are the printing presses of the BN and MCA still lie idle ? One Western Democratic, the other Authoritarian.

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

No sooner did I switch off my screen, there appeared an intimidating comment ‘ It may be wiser to just continue with NS.’ in an Opposition Blog.

The writer commented that during the NS Programme from 2004 to 2014, there were 25 deaths, some rapes and injuries to the young participants. He did not mention the drug trafficking, the gang fights, corruption etc. Maybe he is a bachelor and has no compassion in his heart like all Opposition types who serve the Ruler 1959 – 2015 who has no compassion in his heart also.

What a cunning and sneaky comment on a National Issue which affects everyone ?

What an irresponsible comment when this writer admitted to the record of sufferings of the young and defenceless ?

What sort of Malaysians we have these days who poke to gain an advantage at the expense of the Rakyat’s young and defenceless ? He is no better than that prominent nobody who stood up at one seminar in 2003 and attempted to polish apples at the cost of the lives of the young by making an irresponsible proposal for the NS. From this point, corruption, deaths, injuries, rapes, gang fights, drug trafficking etc followed to 2014 from 2004 ! This is a small World !

WHAT SORT OF MALAYSIAN IS THIS WRITER KNOWINGLY THAT 90% OF THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE VOTED FOR THE SINGAPOREAN TROJAN HORSE DAP ON THIS VERY CONTENTIOUS ISSUE THE NS ?
This fellow is obviously serving his foreign master, the Ruler 1959 – 2015. Where are you MCA ?

This sort of brainwashing, sneaky poking, cunning, snide, sly remarks do not take water any more.

We are proud Malaysians who practise the FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY WITH ITS OPEN CAPITALISITIC CHARACTERISTICS AS OPPOSED TO YOUR MASTER, THE RULER 1959 – 2015 ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM IMPOSED ON ITS CITIZENS BY APPARATCHIKS WHICH HAS GONE TOXIC. The citizens want their CPF money to be returend to them by the Singapore Government.

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

When our Honourable Dato Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak , the Prime Minister, announced that the NS camps would be scrapped, I jumped with joy even though I could not make the quantum leap on the Moon. The abolishment of the NS camps is one giant step towards NORMALCY even though it is worth only RM 400 millions per year !

The NS camps is one of the main reasons why the 90% Malaysian Chinese voted for the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP, a foreign backed party with the Ultra Communiistic Political and Social Philosophy of the Ruler of the tiny Republic of Singapore, 1959 – 2015.

THE BN SHOULD NOW EXPLOIT THIS FACT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE.. Where is the MCA ?

It is alleged a prominent nobody stood up and suggested the NS camps at one seminar in 2003. At that material time, his children were either schooling or working in London.

The NS was considered as long ago as 1972, the great Tun Abdul Razak thought it was inequitable, and might cause deaths, injuries or other bodily harm to the young participants.

A careless suggestion by a prominent nobody brought deaths, injuries and harm to our young. Since 2004 to 2014, at least RM 4 billions worth of precious money have been spent on a scheme which could have been better served by our National Schools or applied to the rehabilitation of the young.

This RM 4 billions would have been of much use between 2004 to 2014 for the rehabilitation of our wayward youths who should not be in prison.

IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE TO USE THE NS CAMPS FOR THIS PURPOSE. This is a vital requirement as a safety net for those young people who need a period of supervision in their adjustment to their new found freedom and to live in the towns and cities. All citizens in need, especially the young should be guided and a helping hand for those who need the help of the Government and its agencies.

And the NS camps may now be used for emergency purposes like the recent floods which affected many.

As the BN Government slowly returns to NORMALCY, so too will the Malaysians especially the Malaysian Chinese.

They will close ranks behind its leadership WHEN THE MALAYSIAN CHINESE FULLY REALISE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CONNED BY A SINGAPORE TROJAN HORSE DAP, A FOREIGN ENTITY AND THAT THEIR SINGAPOREAN COMPATRIOTS HAD THE ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM IMPOSED UPON THEM BY THE RULER 1959 – 2015 THROUGH THE USE OF APPARATCHIKS.

The much maligned CPF caper have raised many Malaysian Chinese eyes on how a Singapore Government can legally suck up every cent of a citizen’s net worth into the Government’s coffers controlled by one Ruler, 1959 – 2015.

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

A few days into the New Year, a piece of refreshing news was reported. But in the midst of tragedies, deaths and accidents, no one seemed to have noticed. This important piece of news was the report on the independent findings of the International Living.com that our beloved Malaysia is listed within the top 4 countries of the World for easy living during a person’s retirement or seeking a pleasant place to live.
The countries listed were Mexico, Ecuador, Panama and Malaysia. But Malaysia topped the list of Asia and the much flaunted and vaunted Singapore is not even within the top 30 of the definitive list.

To me this type of independent listing of the real status of Malaysia as a livable abode is indicative of the country’s present position as regards all the questions which were answered satisfactorily by this independent group of travel analysts. I could attribute their professional report as untarnished by certain vested interests who would otherwise had provided swallows, ducks, spies, journalists or tycoons to sway the final conclusion in their favour. This is being done all the time by certain desperate States.

For the very first time, our thanks to our Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz who oversees his Ministry professionally, we get the proper and factual report on Malaysia by an independent source.

But the most important accolade is not the top spot for good living for Malaysia in Asia, IT IS THE RECOGNITION OF THE GOOD WORKS DONE TO OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA THROUGH SUCCESSIVE BN GOVERNMENTS WHICH SHOULD BE APPLAUDED. In this we must give credit where credit is due.

IN FACT, MALAYSIA IS THE TOP SPOT IN THE WORLD FOR GOOD LIVING if our traditions and conventions of the ages are also considered. It is just one continuous litany for good living.

But the previous Minister of Tourism was a disaster. This Minister went on a deluxe tour of the Southern Antipodes with its low population who already know us well and the ubiquitous Sime Darby had marked its presence through many small business for decades. This culminated in Sime sponsoring for over 9 years a Grand Ocean Race in New Zealand to fit in with the tiny motor-dealership to be supervised by its retired executive. The good Minister could have dispensed with precious public funds and got a Sime Darby sponsorship which could have sponsored the Minister’s family too. During the tenure of this particular Minister, I did not notice any filthy and densely populated countries, like India and China were included in the itinerary. But these ancient civilizations are important to Malaysia in her quest for more tourists.

To cap it all, this Minister spent much public funds to promote tourism for the City of London and succeeded by receiving a Gold Medal from Her Majesty the Queen for her efforts.

These 3 deluxe tours at huge public expense by the previous Minister are all that I could remember. Our beloved country Malaysia never appeared in any international media, websites or publications during this wasted period.

Hence, kudos to the present Minister of Tourism and Culture, YB Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz who has our country, Malaysia and its Rakyat at heart.

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

  14. Salam Tun,

You hit the nail spot on. Its about debt and the interest we have to pay on the debt.

All in all economics is about expanse and provision of good and services. The money will go round within the economy. But when we get into debt and especially outside our national economy we can get into trouble by currency exchange rates and by interest payments which can be killers. This are factors outside our control. If we do not have reserves to mitigate the negative effects of this factors we will get into trouble.

Some people says Russia and Venezuela have flooded the market with oil to cause the prices to drop drastically. For how long they will do this we do not know. It could be politics are it could be financial gains they are after. We do not know. But they will run out of steam sooner or later.

The ringgit is taking a beating again because currency speculators base their assumption that our economy is heavily dependent on the export of our oil. Is this true?

The other commodities are going though their normal demand cycles. Unfortunately, they seem to be dipping at the same time.

DS Najib may need to dip his hands into the Reserves to tie things over for the time being. Encourage consumption of local goods and services.

    Thanks Tun

  15. Salam YAB & Yg diKasihi Tun,

Mengapa Pakatan senyap saja?

    Terima kasih Tun.

*** Semoga Allah SWT sentiasa melindungi Tun sekeluarga. ***

  16. As long as we are unable to connect the dots and to discern the whole picture of the world & global issues.., especially in terms of the evil acts of those World Elites’ to enslave all of mankind to be subjugated at their whims in their perverted satanic World Order agenda.., then we shall continually to be unaware and oblivious of what is really going on this planet of ours and of things to come.

Many of us are still trapped and so pre-occupied with our local & internal issues that we fail to see the whole picture where it is those global issues that surround and affect our daily and very lives, such as the (unregulated) international currency & monetary issues, the (cartel) petroleum prices, or the commodities such as the palm-oil & natural-rubber prices that may directly affect the livelihood of those even in the most remote part of our nation.

For sure, the world is not getting any bigger. However, technology & communications have made our lives to become much more on a hurried and rapid pace while the planet to appear to become somewhat even more smaller. Thus, where is the future of mankind to go from here onwards..?

Well.., those evil World Elites shall make sure to it that no nation on this earth is ‘immune’ from their interference, intrusion and meddling. So.., how are we to fight or ward-off an evil enemy who are oblivious to us..? Who are those evil World Elites anyway..? What is their ‘Grand Design’ for mankind on this planet..? Are they for real..? How many of us really ask ourselves these alarming questions..?

In the year 2003.., (slightly before his retirement as the PM of Malaysia) YAB Dr. Mahathir had given everyone a rather strong hint & statement (in his opening speech during the OIC conference), by uttering:-

“…The Jews rule the world by proxy.., they get others to fight and die for them…!”

However, how many of us have really taken those startling words by Dr. Mahathir as being a very real and serious issue…? Or do many of us would regard that his statement (back then) as being somewhat nasty, reckless & racist anti-Semite or perhaps some of us would simply just brush aside that Dr. Mahathir may be some sort of a conspiracy theorist nut-case..?

Thus, is the issue of those obscure or hidden World Elitists running this world from behind the scenes is real and true..? Is the disappearance of MAS Flight MH370 and the shooting down of Flight MH17, which have directly affected the people and nation of Malaysia was orchestrated by some international or global evil and rogue forces..?

Is HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is in any way for beneficial anyone on this earth..? Or is HAARP some kind of ‘weather control’ device used by some conniving forces as an exotic weapon to create earthquakes, droughts, floods or hurricanes at the whim & fancy of those evil ones. Here are some article and videos about HAARP, as below:-

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Frequency_Active_Auroral_Research_Program

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AHRWyX59Kc

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/haarp-secret-weapon-used-for-weather-modification-electromagnetic-warfare/20407

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsgrRmHW8ro

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB6dtFYZy1I

Also, have we forgotten about the 9-11 incident that had happened donkey years ago have still been ignored by the world’s mainstream-media where many have failed to realised that such incident was actually orchestrated by some devious and evil forces as exposed & explained by this courageous guy, as per his revised version video below:-

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S10Aotp_tvo
(911 False Flag – American Traitors & Mossad – Where are the Oath Keepers? – Ken O’Keefe)

Then again, what about the ‘London Bombing’ that had long ago been explained in great detail as to who are the real culprits in this very revealing videos below:-

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7PQG5weeHk
    (7/7 Ripple Effect)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgmz2dAn-Zc
    (7/7 Ripple Effect – 2)

So, what else do we need to know and to be informed about..? If we fail to connect the dots and fail to see the whole picture of what is going on around us and act upon it, then we shall continue to be ignorant and keep going in circles and get nowhere.

In forums such as this, it is useless and pointless if we post silly and unsubstantiated comments & opinions, merely to chat away or simply to whine & complain of our situation and predicament, as most of those internet social-media participants would tend to do.

So, unfruitful chatter and whining must stop. We must keep an open mind, develop the critical thinking approach, execute solid research over the internet, share and act with many others upon our findings to oppose and expose the evil deeds of those psychopathic globalist tyrants. If otherwise, we might just as well expect another orchestrated catastrophe to befall us and simply accept come what may.

Be reminded that the only ‘immunity’ that can we give ourselves is the choice to make that difference whether or not to be subjugated by evil forces.., before such a choice can be taken away from us.., if allowed to do so. The choice is ours.

  17. As Salam Tun,
I do not have your wisdom or knowledge but I see :
    1. A big drop in oil price in a short time ( 50%)
    2. What or Who made the price fall
    3. Who made profits by creating demand and increase in price
    4. Who made profits by shorting during downfall
    5. Prices of consumables that increased, will it be decreased?
    6. If this creates an uncertainty and negative outlook, imagine what will happen if this fluctuation is repeated once or twice in 2015….. when it has happened, it WILL Happen.

  19. Assalamualaikum Tun.

    Teruma kasih Tun.

Concussion, from the Latin concutere (“to shake violently”)[1] or concussus (“action of striking together”),[2] is the most common type of traumatic brain injury. The terms mild brain injury, mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), mild head injury (MHI), minor head trauma, and concussion may be used interchangeably,[3][4] although the last is often treated as a narrower category.[5] Although the term “concussion” is still used in sports literature as interchangeable with “MHI” or “MTBI”, the general clinical medical literature now uses “MTBI” instead.[6] In this article, “concussion” and “MTBI” are used interchangeably. Frequently defined as a head injury with a temporary loss of brain function, concussion causes a variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms, which may not be recognized if subtle.

    Please do the needful.

BP Blood Pressure 140/85 (Abnormal )
    Pulse 90 ( A bit nervous )
A lump of mass on temporal region.
    Treatment:
If hallucinations or delusions are not causing distress your doctor may decide just to monitor the situation rather than treat immediately as adjusting or introducing medications can interfere with other Parkinson’s symptoms.

If however they are distressing it is likely that your doctor will alter your Parkinson’s medications. Usually Amantadine and Anticholinergics are stopped first, followed by Dopamine agonists as necessary. If the tendency to hallucinate is pronounced, it might be appropriate to treat with Levodopa on its own. Your doctor will always try to balance the lowest possible dose with an acceptable affect on Motor symptoms.

For some people such adjustments may not stop hallucinations or delusions, or may mean that other Parkinson’s symptoms are not adequately controlled and so quality of life is compromised. Finding the right balance between good symptom control and hallucinations can be tricky and if this balance is not found then special drugs, known as Neuroleptic or antipsychotic drugs, may be prescribed to control the hallucinations. The older, conventional neuroleptics generally worsen Parkinson’s symptoms and are therefore not used to treat people with the disease.

Clozapine is an atypical neuroleptic drug which has proved to be useful in treating hallucinations or delusions in Parkinson’s without worsening other symptoms. It is normally given in doses of between six to 50 mg per day, and the dose must be slowly increased because of the tiredness that may appear as a side effect in some people. Clozapine has a certain risk for agranulocytosis, a side effect on white blood cells, and therefore blood tests must be performed regularly during treatment with this drug.

Quetiapine is another atypical neuroleptic that has been suggested for treating hallucinations or delusions in Parkinson’s but clinical studies on its effectiveness have been questionable and it remains unclear whether this drug is appropriate. Neuroleptics other than clozapine and quetiapine should not be used in Parkinson’s because of the risks of worsening other symptoms. In particular, antipsychotic medication can lead to Bradykinesia.

As always, you must consult with your doctor regarding medications. Any potential risks should discussed and weighed up against the distress and adverse effects non-treatment may cause.

So..I referred him to you as we were advised so.
    Tun.

  23. Salam Tun, Maaf offtopic buat kesekian kali. Saya tak perlulah respon commenter yang dah berusia tapi ayat mcm budak2 tu (ptuih2 jebon jibaok dll yg seangkatan dgn a. samad said) sbb cuma buang masa. In the end, i believed my points somehow reached Tun. Have fun writing Tun, you’re a great blogger and thank you.

  24. Tun

It is with a heavy heart that I comment on the huge loss concerning our compatriots sufferings on the East Coast and the other States as well.

This is not a time for recriminations, But a time for giving, efforts, time, money or materials of all kinds. This is not a time for individual efforts but of joint individual and corporated efforts too.

A quick estimate of the damage and sufferings of over 200,000 fellow citizens amounts to more than RM 5 billions. – to put everything back to a normal situation as quickly as possible. This needs to be done.

Apart from the human assets, there is the destroyed or damaged infrastructures, businesses and factories etc to be repaired or replaced again. The huge number of unemployed compatriots without an income.

All the knowns and unknowns which have to be put together amount to many billions of ringgits which have to be raised just for starters.

THIS IS A HUGE NATIONAL EFFORT AND INVOLVES THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND NOT JUST A FEW.

Many pundits have come out with solutions to the present tragic outcome. These are air-conditioned professional pundits who like to sound good in times of crises with their fancy letters.

But the reality is the first task for the incumbent Government to strengthen the sinews of its administration system. The second task is to PUT THE OUR RURAL AREAS ON THE SAME POLICY BASIS AS THE URBAN AREAS IN TERMS OF ADMINISTRATION, FINANCE, SECURITY ETC. The Government’s annual expenditure should not be lop-sided. The third task is for the Government to gather more ideas from the public at large and experts on how to prevent, ameliorate or diminiish such sudden tragic weatheer events which are known to happen with regularity year in and year out. Finally, an ANTI-FLOOD COMMAND should be set-up with sufficient human resources and assets to tackle any forbidding storm.

THE NS SHOULD BE SCRAPPED AND THE FUNDS DIVERTED TO THIS WORTHWHILE CAUSE AND THE CAMPS TO BE USED FOR THE REHABILATION OF YOUTHS. Elements of the NS could be incorporated into our existing National Schools Systems with a win-win situation for all.

Ever so often these days, the BN leadership is tested by the 3 Golden Rules of Good Governance which were practised as a matter of course withoutany difficulty during your successful 22 year Administration, Tun. eg.

    1. Commonsense.
    2. The Ability to think out of the Box.
    3. Compassion.

Our beloved Malaysia is not only threatened by weather tsunamis but by finanicial tsunamis as well. And the pundits have been predicting the Mother of all tsunamis will one day arrive on our shores. And we must not forget that we including the rest of the World have been inside a huge Bubble courtesy of the Fed’s Quantitative Easings since October 2008. Tun, this you have already warned us many times through the years.

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

  26. Tun

With all due respect, Sir, it is good very good that you and a few other notables have behaved normally during your whole lifetimes. It is because we always respect the dignity and importance of Humankind. It is because you and some others worked selflessly without thinking of MONEY MONEY MONEY in your minds all the time.

You and them are our icons which no brainwashing and an immense number of books to glorify can diminish. This is a fact. No need for insults, abuses and vulgarities from those casteless types from the sub-continents which got them nowhere.

It is because MONEY MONEY MONEY IS A NON-ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE A NON-ISSUE TO ALL OF US IN THIS UNIQUE AND WONDERFUL LAND. Like you, Tun, some of us ask for NOTHING. The successful conclusion of any project should be the payment in kind.

I could have been Icarus and the Sun like the Ruler down South. But like you and the other notables, I decided to behave NORMALLY and let my work takes its natural course.

And my many thanks to my fellow contributors to this distinguished Blog who are sensible and normal including Mr Balance. We are all the same and normal, no more or no less.

WE UNDERSTAND AND RECOGNISE THE MEANING OF SOVEREIGNTY, NATIONAL INTERST, SELF-ESTEEM.

We also understand the importance and the respectful position of our Yang Di Pertuan Agong and our venerable Constitution which he represents.

We recognise that our FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY WITH ITS OPEN CAPITALISITC CHARACTERISTCIS HAS A MALAY BIAS. We are Malaysians and not Martians !

And our beloved Malaysia has a reliable political System which is diametrically opposed to the godless ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE CREATED BY ITS RULER 1959-2014, IMPOSED ON ITS CITIZENS AND IMPLEMENTED BY HIS APPARATCHIKS !

We were all born naked and hapless but with equal opportunities. It is our parents and our beliefs in God which guided and drove us towards our desired objectives in life.

MONEY MONEY MONEY is a poison like OPIUM. It discolours and distracts us from our true objectives as good people – like those wasteful advertisements in the Star for example which were all contrived by some hidden hands to divide us as though we are not MODERATES. If we are not MODERATES, they would not even have an opportunity to publish the Star. Acheh !

And so it is, Tun, our beloved Malaysia at the end of the day, at the end of an unforgiving year 2014.

It is not this year, 2014 but there seemes to be some kind of writing on the wall which should wake all of us up as to its hidden meaning.

HAVE WE VEERED AWAY SO MUCH FROM THE NORM OR NORMALCY SINCE 2003 THAT WE ARE NOT UNCONCIOUS OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING ? ALL BASED ON MONEY MONEY MONEY ?

Tun with all due respect, after your successful 22 year Administration which not only brought up the 3 MILLION FAMILY MIDDLE-INCOME MALAY GROUP BUT ALSO THE 3 MILLION FAMILY MIDDLE-INCOME NON-MALAY GROUP THROUGH THE PURCHASES OF THE LATTER’S GOODS AND SERVICES BY THE FORMER INCLUDING A MULTITUDE OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS – A NOBEL PRIZE ACHIEVEMENT, we have seen our beloved Malaysia going down the slippery slope after the 11th General Elections of 2004.

The beginning was the claim by the detractors that the elections promises were not kept and then we fast slid right down to 31 December 2014 with the grim spectre of seeing MORE AND MORE OF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA’S VALUABLE HUMAN AND MATERIAL ASSETS TAKING A NEGATIVE HIT. This I do not think we deserve such losses to us ordinary citizens who have been loyal and hard-working since 1957 sometimes for a pittance !

The more we aped the failed MONEY MONEY MONEY POLICIES OF ULRA COMMUNISTIC SINGPORE THE MORE WE WILL GET INTO TROUBLE BECAUSE WE ARE A FREE MALAYSIAN STYLE DEMOCRACY AND NOT ORGANISED LIKE SINGAPORE CONTROLLED AND RULED BY ONE RULER 1959 -2014 ! During the same period, our beloved Malaysia has had 6 democratically elected Prime Ministers ! And all of them retired willingly and gracefully when they have completed their jobs.

For example, I note that the naive, hospitable and friendly UMNO owned NSTP now uses the Page 2 of its newspaper to propagate top Government news. This is exactly what the PAP owned Straits Times of Singapore did for many years in the 1980s – 1990s. But the secret financial signals hidden in the last 2 pages of the Straits Times during those years are left out in the NSTP. See how brainwashing is used cleverly in an ULTRA COMMUNISTIC STATE and adopted by the NSTP without understanding the TRUE POLITICAL SYSTEM OF THE TINY REPUBLIC WITH ONE RULER 1959 – 2014 !

IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTY AS A LOYAL AND GRATEFUL MALAYSIAN CITIZEN TO PRESENT THE TRUE FACTS VIS-A-VIS THE LIES AS PROPAGATED BY FOREIGN POWER(S) AND THEIR PROXIES.

It also pays to remember the non-Malaysian saying, ‘ The Americans forget easily. The British try not to forget. The French never forget.’

I am exceedingly happy like all my friends on this distinguished Blog, Tun ! And I look forward to 2015 with full expectations !

MALAYSIA BOLEH 1 MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

    MENGAPA?
Tun sebagai pengamal perubatan izinkan saya menyentuh satu sudut.
    Respiratory ethic.
By being ethical, you avoid the designated germs that infected you, consumed you,bad breath and bad (you) from transmitted airborne to other’s.
Innocent other’s that have got no quarrel with you.
We very much understood the need for you to spit it out at the phlegm that bothering your airway passage.
But do you realize the why of the accumulation of the phlegm? They deposited there actually for your benefit. This same principal applies in the formation of the pearl in the oyster.
A particle of sand can be deposited inside the oyster accidentally. This we understood irritates the oyster which secreted some chemical that coated the ‘intruder’.Of course we can only surmized the oyster reaction since the oyster unanimated and cannot tell us what exactly happens.
After some times Allah know how, walla..You have a pearl inside the oyster.
How do we know this is true?
Because the proccess can be replicated under controlled situation and we can cultivate any number of pearls by production instead hunting them down under sea in situ.
And you Mr Ahem so called Aktivis and your all syaitan bisu fella, comrade and collaborater is a pearls here too in Tun blog.
    HOWZAT?

YOU ALL GIVE SUCH AN IRRITATION..:)

p.s BANDINGAN ORANG MUKMIN ITU SEPERTI SEBUAH BANGUNAN YANG KUKUH.
JIKA SATU BAHAGIAN DEMAM YANG LAIN JUGA AKAN KESAKITAN BERJAGA MALAM

By not acknowledging Tun as mukmin you inferred and insinuates the worst.

    RIBUAN TERIMA KASIH TUN.

  30. Salam Tun,

Nice caption “The Malaysian Immunity”. Earlier this morning i read something else, completely opposite of what youre we’re saying. So now which one should we believe?

    “Ekonomi terus mantap”
    http://www.hmetro.com.my/node/19740

Thank you, keep writing and god bless you and your family.

  31. Mind zero
    Thanks for the Remarks
I agree I swayed from the topics as much as every social media of the freedom of speech Much also swayed from the relevant topics not just Tun,s blog
There,s no fast rule about this in any blog not even in yahoo comment
as we seen with many funny names with different images of the individual
I repeated the need & the importance of what i think is right
What I think is right cannot also be right to all to some or to any

Likewise now I like to drop my pen on our recent Air Asia
What happen to our MH 17 MH370 now Air Asia ?
Tripple Bad Luck ? Technical failure Human Failure ? Ill Doings from a well capable ?
Political Agendas ? Bomohism or perhaps was hidden by the Malay legendary Puteri Burnean ?
These has been question un answered till today when Human think they have the every answer of todays advanced technology

Climate Change Ozone Change North Pole change Human Tech change Our wife also now suddenly change Also contributes to Global Changes
As now we have tremendous floods that has never been in History
A normal person will ask what exactly went wrong
Like the Mh 370 now Air Asia . So now it Falls ? High Techn even from US was unable to guide an answer ? So where is the plane and no evidence have emerge ?

We have seen Strange Global Climate changes on many parts of the World
We generally see it as in on the surface on the Ground above sea level
BUT what could possible happen to the climate changes under the Sea could also be
The Reasons till today we found no traces of our Plane
Something quite mysterious that is happening under sea or maybe above the Sky above
As we often look on the surface on the ground level
Could be the reason of our no Traces
Well this is just an Opinion

  32. Dear Tun,
Please allow me to quote Mr Mubarak Chan as below,

“”At the end of the day, in the final days of 2014, let me express one singular observation about your distinguised Blog which has now many constructive contributors of note like grkumar, sibotak, hajar, amin tan.””

I wish to register my sincere gratitude to Mr Mubarak Chan for mentioning me as one of many constructive contributors of note. I am humbled by your recognition. I dare say Mr Mubarak Chan is the cream among the many constructive contributors of note. All of us have plenty to learn from the the brilliant Mubarak Chan. I wish I have the opportunity and the good fortune to know him in person..

    amin tan

  33. Wajaperak, Maaf saya disini komen tujuan untuk komunikasi dgn “TUN” semata2, bkn org lain. keep your opinion to yourself. Assalam.

  34. Si botak..

I was forced to register so that i can communicate with you. First, your passion is too much. Over the past few months i was reading your comments and most of the time, its not even related to what our Tun was saying.

This time, when Tun was talking about the government, as in Malaysia, You talk about politics. It is just sad seeing how you channel your passion. Because of someone like you, people tend to always split into groups. There will be no unity. No unity, how are we going to stand together, solve this matter together?

I apologize to other readers for making this post. I’ll just continue reading and admiring what Tun post.

Nice quote and pleasant wishes too
Quote, ‘This is not a time for growing barnacles in our hearts’. unquote. We are Malaysians.

We should never allow barnacles to grow in our life as we are humans.
    Life is impermanence
    Truth are only within ourselves.

    Happy New Year

  36. Tun,

Yr observations are second to none and it is so timely too. No one can have total immunity in anything especially in a this recently connected world. May it be disease or financial happening or even a rumor, it will somehow effect us or others directly or indirectly. Well! What do we have to do? We can continue to live pleasantly ? or We can continue to not to live pleasantly? The choices are there to choose. The differences are:
For those that have simple life or clarity in life the effects are less dramatic or pronounced.
For the smart and positive type it is time of possibilities, opportunities and time to work harder.
For all others I dont know.
I only can say the cake is getting smaller and less sweet, those that expect free cakes and free sweet rides will be disappointed. This is the real damaging danger in Malaysia. Where else to dig for free things? Govt and Public funds? I dont know so I ask.
Pleasant and Awaken New Year to you, your family and all Malaysians.

  37. Assalamualaikum Tun,

I watched, heard, observed the news, the country leaders, the government, the people around online and in real life how they deal with crisis that are happening in our country right now (flood in East Coast, planes missing, etc). Being as part of the younger generations which are in our 20s I am scared, and worried too about who to trust or which are right. Please share your wisdom and tell us the ways to rightfully do our parts in this country. PRU 14 is still a long way from here, but still I don’t think simply changing the PM would solve everything.

  38. Salam Tun.

    THE MALAYSIAN IMMUNITY

‘The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and former Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov in an interview with Bloomberg stated that the US and its allies seek to topple Russian President Vladimir Putin and to change the leadership of the country, using not only sanctions, but organizing a coordinated attack on the currency and causing a fall in oil prices.’

    3. The China FOREX Trade System telah mengumumkan, mulai 29 Disember – China, Russia, MALAYSIA dan New Zealand akan mengguna matawang kebangsaan masing-masing dalam berurusniaga MOSCOW, December 26 (Sputnik) — The China Foreign Exchange Trade System has announced that since December 29, China, Russia, Malaysia and New Zealand will start the usage of national currencies in mutual transactions. Beijing hopes to make the yuan an alternative to the US dollar in global trade. China will start swaps and forwards between the yuan and the national currencies of Russia, Malaysia and New Zealand on December 29, the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) reported Friday.

  39. Assallammualaikum Tun.

  40. Tun,

Penutup 2014 diwarnai sekali lg dgn KAPAL TERBANG HILANG (AIR ASIA). Please stop this nonsense.
Sampai bila kami rakyat marhaen ni nak jadi kambing hitam? Tolong ubah kepimpinan yang ada. “Give us what we need not what you want”.

  41. Tun,

We need a new leadership in Malaysia. Not from Tun lineups obviously, they did a great deal of damage already, and certainly not those pesky parasites (pembangkang).
Harap Tun dapat betulkan kesilapan2 sblm maut menjemput. Tun bukan muda lagi, do something asap. Wallahualam.

  42. THE MALAYSIAN IMMUNITY

The Govt have to be Strong
Opposition oppose to betterment not to dismantle to destroy to break up
Public has the duty to work along not hot taking a ride not threatening with votes
The Sultan can Buat Bodoh Observes Steps in when Needed
Its all works with a Click & Chemistry

In all Govt plays a major role
To blends these Govt, Opposition ,Sultan & the People into Chemistry into Curry Powder
UMNO must first looks at itself within itself First before they can moves forward
Najib must have the right chemistry of people along with him
Along the UMNO members to moves forward steps by steps
    NOT leaping to Mega projects
Projects has to go stages one at a time
Finish one with success then moves forward
This is my opinion of wrong doings
Like we can see in Johor
There are many Development going on
But almost none are put to progress Many left out cases
They have to arrange by stages to infrastructure

  43. Tun

At this momentous ending of the old year 2014 in which surprises came one after another, let us all pray, give aid or materials to our unfortunate compatriots who are affected by the floods wherever they are.
This is a time of giving and praying. This is a time for compassion and self help. The is a time of bi-partisanship – to achieve an ultimate aim which is to ameliorate the undeserved sufferings of our compatriots who are in difficult situations beyond their control.

As I have said many a time before, our beloved Malaysia is unique in all things. But no country is perfect as it is with a human being. It is good to note that there are lots of caring leaders still in our country during a common holiday to provide the leadership in the event of a crisis even though some are missing in action in wonderful New Zealand or other greener pastures ! This is not the very first time that a severe North-East monsoon has visited us. But it is the worst.

Let our hearts and thoughts go out to our compatriots who need help. This is what we are born to do to help our compatriots and more. The combined sentiments and material wealth of a small Nation of 30 millions are what is now required in a time of need in support of our Government efforts.

Quote, ‘This is not a time for growing barnacles in our hearts’. unquote. We are Malaysians.

Let us all hope that 2015 will bring us good health and good fortune for all. God willing. Let us also be prepared not only against the vicissitudes of an unforgiving monsoon but also against another storm to come, the much touted mother of all financial tsutnamis. We will never know when this will strike. But we can ameliorate it given our precautions and safeguards.

This unexpected monsoon crisis should be the harbinger for all of us to unite in the general interests of ourselves, our children and families and the wider World of our friends, compatriots, Yang Di Pertuan and Country.

At the end of the day, in the final days of 2014, let me express one singular observation about your distinguised Blog which has now many constructive contributors of note like grkumar, sibotak, hajar, amin tan etc. etc. and even our balance. The likes of mnm, yusof12, HBT456 etc of yesteryear from the Ministry of Communications and Information Singapore, have disappeared hopefully forever.

I am indeed grateful like my fellow Bloggers to be given a chance, just a small chance to express my views on a factual basis here. I used to blog at the Malaysia Chronicles before I turned up here in August 2011. I was abused, insulted and vulgarised at every turn by those sub-continent types embedded there. Before I left, I told them if Malaysia Chronicles is going to be of an international standard, they must get rid of the foul language, and maintain standards, ethics, propriety and probity.

It is never too late to wish you well Tun and all my friends on this distinguished Blog including those from the balmy Repbulic of Singapore if any !

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

  44. Dearest YAB Tun,

    THE MALAYSIAN IMMUNITY

    1. Obviously, some (most) leaders within the Government do not know (or have no idea) how to assess/analyze the end result or effect/impact of the drastic plunge in the price of oil and other commodities.

    2. Interest rates have gone up, and now we have to pay higher installments for previously taken loans. For one property loan that I currently have, I have to pay an extra of more than RM200/month. And, I sold that property recently because I don’t think I have time to maintain it. In addition, I already made some reasonable amount of profit out of my initial investment on the property.

    3. I agree with point (4) raised by Saudara Murad (https://thechedet.com/?p=1568#comment-120976). Coincidently, I also believe that it is better to be ‘debt free’ (if possible) during this economic turmoil.

    4. I read many books on ‘Managing Personal Finances’ (be financially independent) and how to survive during an economic crisis. Most authors (based on their own experience) indicated that (in the past) those (including companies) who would normally survive in any crisis were those with ‘NO debt or little debt’. So, the question is, ‘Will Malaysia/1MDB survive if we have another round of economic crisis?”.

    Thanks Tun.

*** May Allah SWT bless Tun and family ***

Sedarlah.

  47. In a way this may be a blessing in disguise to our unbridled consumerism. Consumerism has stymied the thinking capacity of an entire generation. They lack creativity and survival instincts because they simply cannot cope with living without their mods and cons.

There is a generation who believe ownership of a motor car is a right and not a privilege. Those still who believe a telephone of the most unconventional and modern type each season is a right, that debt is natural and comes without consequences, roads, railways and bridges are paid for by some unseen force so they engage in tax avoidance on a grand scale.

It is at a time like this that people (if they care to think) will question the idea of the ‘failed state’ which for politically expedient reasons are applied as an insult to nations that do not kow tow or subscribe to western hegemony.

Oil has long been a tool of foreign policy of the west against any ‘non compliant’ state. How oil reached $150 a Bbl without the economic data to suggest demand was suddenly so high to support the peak is not rocket science. It was manipulated. If one checks the data of the biggest buyers and sellers of the derivatives of oil on the market they will find it consists of Morgan Stanley and Goldmans at the forefronts.

The Quants who now ride the market effortlessly with their super computers shorting the market in micro seconds ahead of any competitor will tell us that the market is not so free anymore. At the board levels of Morgan Stanley and the most powerful lobbyists anywhere from Lee Kuan Yew, Sir Ratan Tata, Mikhail Gorbachev, Henry Kissinger and George Bush and so on and so forth.

The “Dark pools” that stalk the markets means that proper and full disclosures are no longer required. When one is confronted with a situation such as this directed from Wall street and supported by the city of London one gets the picture and understands what modern day colonialism is about.

Petronas has a large number of positions abroad in producing wells in many foreign countries. Under pressure from the US it sold out its position in Venezuela only to have the Indians buy it out from them. The more Malaysia kow tows to a US alliance designed to contain the Chinese rather than to productively engage with them and the Indians, the more Malaysia is likely to be caught up with a situation it cannot retract from because decisions will be made in Washington and not in Putrajaya.

The fall in the price of oil as you quite rightfully point out will have dire economic consequences for many and in many areas of industry. Oil is still overpriced if one looks at the mathematics of its supply and demand patterns. Speculation drove it to US$150 per barrel. It was not demand alone.

The fundamental idea behind a high oil price was to draw back into the economic orbit of the US in particular the US dollar reserves countries like China and India accumulated out of their economic development.

The level of US and Euro reserves in Chinese hands meant they could not be controlled and the “tail could wag the dog”. China if it so desired (in an ordered economy) released US dollars at any time flattening it without having to fire a single shot in anger. China was not buying US made arms with that money. The Arabs were and when they had no need for it the US helped broker a local conflict so they spent billions on European and US made weapons. The “accelerator effect”. The Chinese in particular have been careful to avoid such a situation.

China, India and south east Asia including Japan and Korea hold as much reserves in Euros and US dollars they could destroy each of these powers economically in a matter of minutes. It is the reason the US and Europe seek compliant leaders in these regions. When they don’t succeed they create these springs to bring them down. Our youth do not understand that.

Malaysia at present stands at the cross roads of its future. it needs a good strong leader with a view on a local vision and independence whilst also being able to balance the needs and aspirations of our neighbours and the powers that rely on some compromises from us.

Najib Razak may be a nice chap but he is not that leader that Malaysia needs at this time in its history and he knows it. He is presently talking succession and Malaysia’s role in this coalition against China in Hawaii. Playing golf is a good smoke screen but if one thinks they are discussing the latest Ferrari or golf clubs then one deserves to remain ignorant forever.

Succession in this regard will not be the Kit Siang clan, it will not be the Anwar Ibrahim clan, it will not be Ambiga Sreenivasan or the Malaysian Bar or Bersih but someone with a critical understanding of all our domestic and international obligations and those issues that matter to the nation like, security, economic stability and prosperity, education and universal health (not the current pay as you live), a stable ringgit, less real estate development, more environmental sensitivity, and more foreign investment.

At the heart of al of this should be greater internal security to ensure the fabric of the community is not torn apart by agent provocateurs paid for by foreign governments and internal dissidents.

Riding out the current economic crisis that looms is the hall mark of a true leader. But who are they and where are their plans?

  48. Assalamualaikum Tun,

Its good for Tun to highlight this. From the news, the people in Putrajaya are saying everything fine.

If a ship is really fine, then its okay for you to say its fine. However, if a ship is sinking, and you say its fine, then that is dangerous. Because when you its fine, no one is going to fix the sinking ship. Maybe when the ship is already at the bottom of the sea, then you realise there is a problem. By that time, its already too late to fix anything.

The Russian economy is much like Malaysia where one of the main revenue is from oil. When oil price fell, it affected the Russian economy adversely. Its currency value drop, the stock exchange drop, and there it is expected to have a negative growth. The Russian is experiencing a financial crisis. Probably the only difference the Russian economy to Malaysia is that the US and Europeans are putting sanctions on Russia.

The drop in oil price, has caused our ringgit to drop and stock exchange to drop, just like the Russian.

However, why are the Russians admitting their economy is in trouble while Malaysians are saying their economy is fine and business as usual?

Shouldn’t our economy be in trouble just like the Russians since our major revenue is from oil too?

  49. Dear Tun,

That is not all. Guess how much reserve that our Bank Negara hold? Answer USD 120.7 billion. How much of it in foreign currency? USD 110.3 billion! How much in gold? USD 1.4 billion!

At a time when everyone is running scared of the dollar because they believe the over supply of that currency brought about by the QEs will bring about hyper inflation and the tanking of its value, our Bank Negara still holds 91% of its reserve in foreign currencies (including the dollar I presume).

The popular believe at the moment is that although the dollar seems to be strengthening, it is just an illusion because that so called strength of the dollar is based only on people’s confidence and that confidence is waning. Even Malaysia has agreed with China to settle trade in our own two currencies avoiding the dollar. Other countries are doing the same thing. The dollar is slowly being push to the side in international trade.

The reason for the strength in the dollar now is the cheap money that is available from the QEs with low or rather no interest rate. The question is how long can the US Fed hold down the rates without seriously affecting peoples’ earnings?

Pretty soon countries holding the dollar as reserve would want to start dumping it to avoid losing more value. In doing that they will start sending back the dollar that they hold to the US triggering a hyper inflation there. The dollar will then will lose more value and people confidence in it will snap causing a total collapse of the currency.

The believe is it will happen soon. It is not a matter of “ïf” anymore but “when”. When the dollar collapse all other currencies including the Ringgit will collapse as well in a domino effect because almost all governments have been printing money to fund deficit spending year after year and because almost all countries have the dollar in their reserves.

We will then have to look for a new system of exchange. People will have to go back to precious metals like gold and silver as a refuge until the new system come into effect – and that may take months even years.

This is why other countries are either clamoring for the gold that they have deposited with the US Federal Reserve (the Netherlands and Venezuela got theirs back but the German did not) or frantically buying gold in the world market in anticipation of the said collapse like China, Russia and India.

These countries has hundreds maybe thousands of tons of gold in reserve and we have only 36 tons (at current gold prices). 36 tons Tun for 28 million people! That is about 1.3 gm for each one of us. God help us!

I really hope that the Governor make the move soon and start looking for gold. It is still not too late. Spend all those potentially worthless foreign currencies and buy gold. It is still relatively cheap – thanks to the US Fed and US major banks effort at suppressing it’s price.

It’s the only thing that will protect us from a catastrophic financial collapse. If we don’t have enough gold when the collapse happens, we will have little to back up the new Ringgit and our currency would then be of less value compared to the currencies of other countries with plenty of gold. We could emerge in the new financial system poorer than say Cambodia or Laos.

By the way, Bank Negara did not say whether it hold the 36 tons of gold physically or not. I hope they are not in New York with the US Fed! If they are, we are really in trouble.

Thank you Tun and Happy New Year

    goldben

  50. Tun Dr Mahathir

  52. It was OPEC led by Saudi that refused to cut down oil production to imperil Iran. US 30 per barrel they can still survive. Y no condemnation ? Or are the Jews again the hidden hand bhind Saudi motive. If so condemn both. B consistent.

  53. Dear Tun,
As a ordinary Malaysian I am truly perplexed by the present Government npolicies which seems to enrich a elite few. The private sector is basically overrun by GLC’s. There seems to be a seige mentality that Government must control the economy.
The present day is getting worse for the retired civil servants pensioners, low income rural folks, poor urban and middle class who living standards continue to decline.
We continue to import hunbdreds of thousands of foreigners into this land until we the locals suffer from pay dilution and wage are skewed.
You are right when you say that the present government is looking at end of days. In the end its the bread and butter which will determine who will become the rulers of the country.

  54. Dear Tun,

    With all my respect.

Yes. It will effect us one way of another. But Malaysian also have great saving in ASB, Tabung Haji, Mutual Funds, EPF, KWAP and so on.

Besides, we also have corporate Giant like the MISC, Sime Darby, FGV, PETRONAS and PLUS to depend with once we have all sign on any incoming recession.

We trust in Allah and to ALLAH we pray day and night. We the continuous effort, we believed we would be blessed by HIM.

Anyway, of course, the current leader has now took an appropriate steps to defend on the economy from falling.

An internal economy activities should be push more and tied again the Ringgit against the USD.

The spirit of “Malaysia Boleh” must again been drummed out.

Puan Nurul Najwa has called on Yg Bhg Tun to send help to Kelantan. My sympathy to her and all rakyat in Kelantan Terengganu and Pahang.

We are sure the PAS led Government in Kelantan is doing their best to help all Kelantanese

    Thank you.

    Take care Tun.

    Love you.

  56. Tun

Every day I am exceedingly happy as I am aware I live in a unique country of different races from ancient civiliazations who had lived together in stability, peace and harmony for centuries with an equable climate and bountiful natural resources. What I do not understand is why our beloved country should have political and socio-economic problems as raised by the many concerned citizens all round the Net. This puzzles me.

Are we practising the right kind of economics or voodoonomics or none at all ?

Let us look back to my younger days when I first had my glimpse of how the high and the mighty worked in the 1960s.

I knew a few Ministers especially the Minister who held the key to the Treasury under our Tunku’s Government. There was easy access to these very important persons in those days. I could make my observations close at hand. I could see the aura of POWER which they emanated. Any request by them would be fulfilled in a jiffy. Those around these VIPs were always in awe and in trance through the close proximity of such luminaries. But no one seemed to be using their brains but to say ‘ Yes ‘ all the time. In those days, only selected Ministers could use the sole available plane, a de Havilland 4 propeller engines transport which seats 8 passengers in a narrow cabin. The plane was maintained by the RMAF. Just before the General Elections of 1969, I was taken for a flight to Kuantan at my friend’s command. But after the trip which reason was not explained to me, I had mixed feelings on the exercise of POWER. Fortunately, my relative Tan Sri Dr C.C. Too, the most senior Chinese adviser to the Federal Government on Communist Insurgency had already warned me to be wary of people with POWER. Thanks to him, I took the right turn and survived to this day.

Hence, we come across three interesting news items in the media as follows :

    1. Bloomberg. November 2014. A Minister was interviewed on the Malaysian Economy shortly after the 2015 Budget was presented. He said, ‘ 5%-6% growth in our ecomony in 2015 is no problem. The Malaysian economy is fantastic.’

    2. Starbiz 11 Decmber 2014. A Minister said, ‘ M’sia can withstand shock.’

    3. New Sunday Times. 21 December 2014. ‘ Tap male circumcision market.’

    The headlines are self-explanatory.

To put the whole matter of the general economy of the World into context, the present World turmoil begain in 2007-2008 culminating in the October 2008 Wall Street Crash. Some pundits blame Alan Greenspan for allowing the housing boom in California and Florida to turn into a sub-prime bubble. In fact, in his farewell Senate hearing in 2006, he did mention some froth in the property markets in those two States.

Since October 2008, the World economy has been in recession. There have been mega-bailouts frequently to confirm our beloved Tun’s right approach in 1998 !

He magnificently bailed-out our beloved Malaysia and avoided the IMF.

Since 2001, the Singapore’s economy was in trouble after the Dotcom crash of 2000. She still has not recover from this despite of 2 new casinos and thousands of imported manual workers and billionaires to boost her GDP which rests at 3.5% !

And recently, the World Bank revised the World’s GDP downwards for 2015.

Our Malaysian economy will only benefit the Rakyat if the GDP is at 7% when all the 12 cylinders of the country’s political and socio-economic engine are firing. Anything below this, the goodies do not flow to the Rakyat expecially if the goodies are seen to defy gravity at a time of scarcity of money. This is where IDEAS COME INTO PLAY LIKE YOUR 22 YEAR ADMINISTRATION, TUN.

IMMUNITY, Tun ? Where is the IMMUNITY from the storm which has arisen since Octobeer 2008 if our Government is in businesses all over the World ?

I do not understand why the huge flood of USDs from the QE1, 2, 3 and possibly 4 which engulfed all the World’s financial centres were not noticed in this country. Simply, for lack of a home and Main Street did not move one iota until maybe the end of 2014, the trillions of USDs were invested into commodities, treasuries and currencies. Only those who for reasons best known to themselves, invested into foreign properties of all kinds.

THE FINANCIAL WORLD HAS BECOME A HUGE BUBBLE TO THIS DAY SINCE OCTOBER 2008.. How are the trillions of USDs going to find a home in the future to restore a NORMAL ORDER ? No one has an answer at the moment.

With the huge supply of USDs, all commodity prices went up from 2009 to 2014. This is only natural. This is not because of any forward planning by the Government but that NO COUNTRY IS AN ISLAND in the WORLD OF PAX AMERICA – GLOBALIZATION, FREE TRADE, HUMAN RIGHTS.

Our country had 2009 – 2014 to store the goodies for the rainy day.

That rainy day did not arrive suddenly. The ominous dark clouds preceding the storm actually could be seen as long ago as 2005 when any person with an interest in economic history of the World could have foreseen the end of the KONDRATIEFF WAVE. Indeed this happened. Those who are paid to do the job of safeguarding a Nation’s wherewithal would have been on the alert.

The tiny Republic of Singapore got hit with a loss of USD 108 Billions in October 2008 when its meritocrats should have known better with all the assets of Singapore invested at high prices around the World. Unfortunately, they forgot about Sovereignty, National Interest, Self Esteem when sneaky types flattered them every day. Otherwise, Singapore would have invested in GOLD and become a POWER to reckon with by now. Then, where is our beloved Malaysia ?

Our beloved Malaysia is in a similar situation as the tiny Republic of Singapore before the October Crash of Wall Street in 2008. We have GLCs which have invested all over the World. The latest is in a Filipino bank.
It is easy to borrow money by a GLC or with a proper letter from the Government. Our official debt is RM 600 billions. Does anyone know what is the GLCs and private sector debt in USDs ?

Apart from the tiny Republic of Singapore which practices the ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM CRAFTED BY THE RULER WHICH IS SOLELY TO GARNER ALL THE MONEY FOR THE GOVERNMENT COFFERS CONTROLLED BY HIM 1959 – 2014, only Malaysia has a Government which actively does business which overshadows the private sector and veered from its dedicated Policy of AFFIRMATIVE ACTION TO BUILD UP A CREDIBLE BIG BUMIPUTRA BUSINESS SECTOR. One swallow does not make an Indian Summer !

As I explained before, the tiny Republic of Singapore has the GLCs for a different reason. She can do so because of her command economy as ruled by one Ruler. In Malaysia, our Free Malaysian Style Democracy with its Open Capitalistic Characteristics is not suitable to use GLCs to make money because of the civil servants absence of accountability and of ownership, and the ultimate support by the private sector which is part of a FREE DEMOCRACY.

Even the guru Mark Mobius of the famous Templeton Fund mentioned in a Bloomberg interview just yesterday, ‘ Of the two models, the American model of finance with its many free and democratic checks and balances CANNOT BE BETTER THAN THE CHINA AND SINGAPORE MODEL.’ In other words, the method of making money by the AUTHORITARIAN STATES OF CHINA AND SINGAPORE WITH ITS ULTRA COMMUNISTIC POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SYSTEM AS CRAFTED BY THE RULER AND IMPLEMENTED BY HIS APPARATCHIKS IS THE BEST FOR MAKING MONEY ! You see Tun, it is the brutal efficiency of a central command economy ? Even the Guru recognises what political system the tiny Republic of Singapore practises ! And yet, the Malaysians especiially the Chinese are not aware WHAT THE DAP, THE PAP AND THEIR RULERS REPRESENT ! – a System whereby all the money is channeled to the Government coffers legally.

Without understanding about the MONEY MONEY MONEY FAILED POLICIES of the tiny Republic of Singapore, our beloved Malaysia is now more than fully invested at high prices around the World within a mighty bubble. How ?

IS IT TOO LATE TO CATCH THE TRAIN FOR NORMALCY ? ONLY TOMORROW WILL TELL !

MALAYSIA BOLEH ! MALAYS BOLEH ! MALAYSIANS BOLEH !

  57. Salam, Tun,

    Fariq Islam

  58. 1. Agree
    2. I don’t believe them; what basis for such arrogance?
3.Only God knows, but scenario cannot be a good one with our mismanagement
4.Inflation for poor is a lot more
    5. Believe Petronas more producer than a buyer and so will earn less
6 If big companies, why Government intervene?
    7. Precisely why my point 6.
    8. Yes, we cannot enumerate.
    9. True, hard to tell what net effect will be.
    10. Yes, investors will suffer.
    11. Yes
    12 Devaluation, inflation key problems
    13. Yes. Incoming travelers depends on strong/coherent policy at the top.
    14. Yes
    15. Yes
    16. Yes,
    17. Depth of understanding has not been our hallmark of late – we have been dulled by successes of past decades
    18. Yes, we are part of the world, and historically have been part of the world economy, one way or another. The only way to maintain our independence is to be free of debt, have a lot of reserves, and not try to be too clever

  59. As Salam Tun,
    May Allah bless you Always.

    1. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on currents economic scenario which base on the current drop in Oil prices that will greatly effect our economic projections.

    2. I reckon the PM should call emergency Parliament sitting, special to table revision on our country budget which was table when the price of oil as you rightly pointed is at USD110/- per barrel.

    3. Otherwise the “rakyat” are still in “honeymoon” mode base on the last budget.

    4. Couple of days ago I saw in TV 1 dialog on the same issues, the Chinese Malaysian Senior Prof. (forgot his name) make a bold statement that Malaysia is not going achieve its target growth and he predicted interest rate in Malaysia will be increase in the next 2 years. One piece of advice he made which I agreed is that , this is the time to sell e.g. land. property etc and conserve the cash.Don’t borrow money for now!

    5. I am in business for the last 40 years, I have seen the inflation in the early 70’s, recession in the late 80’s, Asian currency turmoil in the late 90’s and so on…Current situation is really worrying me, which during those time I am badly affected, this time I am lucky as I don’t borrow any for my business.

    6. Agreed with you totally there will be negative impact on the overall business people especially those with high debt gearing. I predict another round of business collapse and bankruptcies. Ironically bankruptcies laws in Malaysia is outdated compare our neighboring countries and the developed nations which make it simplified and give the business people a second chance to resolve in short time.

    7. PM in the budget table that bankruptcy laws in Malaysia will be change to give business people second chance, BUT in reality I do not see it happening!

    8. On Dep. Minister of Finance Ahmad Maslan statement in newspaper recently base on a report that Malaysian like to be salary earner rather than become entrepreneur , my answer to this is that : on the ground for the last four decades , businessmen gone bankrupt facing great difficulties to get out of it, So who want to take risk to do business?? Where chance of success fifty fifty!

    9. Those children which have their father and relatives gone bankrupt and see their suffering, have no interest to go into business, that is why Malaysian prefer to work rather become entrepreneur, hope that answer the question raise by the Dep. Minister!

    10. One bad govt. policy is that they are eager to develop new entrepreneur , especially those just graduated which have zero knowledge in business rather than work with those who have gone down and bring them up back. This new fellow will go the same cycle of failure because of no experience!

    Salam hurmat,

    Murad.n.s.
