1. One of the things associated with democracy is that Governments and the people must subscribe to the Rule of Law.
2. We all believe that if we do this, we will enjoy good governance and, the people would be protected through the application of laws.
3. But now we are seeing laws being used to do things that cannot be considered as democratic or even just.
4. For example people can elect the Government through elections. But now we see the Government of the people’s choice being replaced by a Government of the people rejected by them. The losers rule. The winners form the opposition.
5. You would think this is wrong. But the law says it is legal. It is therefore a part of the rule of law. We must accept.
6. In Sabah, State assemblymen who are supporters of the Government, suddenly left the Government. Why? The only explanation is that they had been bribed.
7. The Government had to be dissolved, a new election held and the people rejected in the original election now form the Government.
8. Again, this is legal. This is a part of the rule of law and must be accepted.
9. Then the former Ketua Menteri (Chief Minister) who faced 42 charges of financial wrong doings had all the charges withdrawn by the Attorney General (A.G.).
10. Again, it is all legal. The A.G. has the right to withdraw charges. The rule of law is not breached.
11. In another case, the accused gave back some of the money he was alleged to have stolen. He was discharged on the promise that he would return the rest of the money later on. It is also legal.
12. And now a man who bribed a minister was fined after he admitted to doing so. But the minister who accepted the bribe is discharged without being acquitted.
13. Again, it is completely legal and in accord with the Rule of Law.
14. Maybe later on even a man convicted of stealing millions of Government money will be pardoned. This too would be according to the law.
15. All these are in accordance with the law. Criminals can go unpunished. Crimes can be committed without fearing the law.
16. All are done according to the rule of law.
17. We are going to see criminals enjoying a free life according to the law.
18. It seems that the rule of law can be so abused that justice will not be done.

Assuming his figure of Singaporeans living in Malaysia is correct, do you encounter any Singaporean taking minimum wage job in Malaysia as your waiter or waitress, janitor, cleaner, housemaid and etc? The answer is definitely not. Most likely Singaporeans here work as professional expatriates, business owners of factories or shops or offices, owners of shops that collect rental income. For nearly a million of Malaysians living in Singapore, how many Malaysians taking minimum wage jobs that Singaporeans are reluctant to do? Why a resource rich country like Malaysia can’t do better than a small island nation? My neighbor’s two children and their son-in-law and daughter-in-law of medical doctor profession have migrated to Singapore. Will your neighbors tell you in detailed which clinic or hospital they work in overseas unless you want to seek treatment there? It is not a surprised if he knows where his niece is working as she is his close-knit family. Malaysian doctors live and work in Singapore is not new as they can make good money there but that murtabak makes a big fuss out of it. In fact, Malaysian sultans and politicians have gone to Singapore for medical treatment and PM Muhyiddin was one of them when he got cancer treatment in Singapore.
The facts are Singapore outdo Malaysia in many ways after over 50 years of independence. He called me a snake but the way he presented himself is more snake than a real snake. Singapore and Laos.
In my view, it is not the level of development that is important but its basic foundation. A country can be as rich as Switzerland or Norway, but if it does not have a ready and secure supply of drinking water for its inhabitants like Singapore, it will always be insure regardless of anything else. Likewise, if a country has no ready access to a sea port, it will always be at an economic disadvantage to another country that has the cheapest means of transportation, the river and sea. This is the case for the European Union where the countries that benefit ultimately from industrialization is all in the Rhine River corridor, and likewise inside Germany herself. Rail, road and air simply cannot beat water transportation.
In short, Singapore has no drinking water to call her own and will always be insecure and envious of Malaysia, which has almost everything it needs except immigrants who pretend to be citizens but in truth aren’t – the Chinese community.

People of next generation outside of Malaysia and Singapore don’t bother who Lee Kuan Yew is and they only care about reputation of both countries. While Singapore Airlines enjoy success in terms of finance and reputation while Malaysian Airlines suffer bad reputation with missing of MH370. That tragedy is still unsolved and it will remind people around the world about Malaysia Airlines in negative way every year. Even before the tragedy of two planes, MAS has already suffered financial loss for years and need taxpayers’ money to survive. Singapore Airlines don’t even have domestic routes but they make profits and is ranked top in the world. Thai Airway and Garuda Indonesia are ranked 10 and 12 respectively and are even higher and better than Malaysian Airlines which is 36 by airline customers in recent years.

My apologies. The correct title should be ” RISE AND RISE, FALL AND FALL OF SINGAPORE 1965-2020.
This most interesting study in human anthropology with a focus on politics and socio-economics must surely warrant a special study unit in any reputable university in the World.
A study on what one person could create in his life-time, a First World independent State, given the right circumstance which was the Cold War 1948-1989 and its participants of super-powers World-wide.
A interesting study should throw up the heavy use of the ‘brainwashing’ methods applied by Lee Kuan Yew with the use of women, academics, tycoons, Malaysian numbskulls (you are the only Leader not taken up by his nonsense because you achieved what you achieved by your own efforts like our Tunku, Tun Abdul Razak, his contemporary at Raffles and knew his tricks, and Tun Hussein Onn.) etc.
Only a handful of his critics saw through the machinations of Lee Kuan Yew. They were Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen, TJS George, a handful of academics. Strangely, KGB was fond of using women to seduce its opponents Vide. James Bond 007.
The humongous Ministry of Information was a waste of hard-earned Singaporean money. Legions of ex-Malaysians especially those from the Straits Settlements, were employed to spy on others. Sex is a top item in the agenda, apart from propagating Lee Kuan Yew’s brilliant and pristine image ! Vide. My experiences in Singapore in 2007 after I sued the illegal Trustees of my father’s Trust for libel and slander after it was stolen to Singapore in 2002. This one single misuse of POWER by a Minister of Home Affairs, Singapore to obstruct, harass and abuse an innocent like me contributed much to the declining fortunes of a tiny State as created by one person, Lee Kuan Yew who was also in decline. This also reflected on the weakening hold on the POWER as created by the creator which was Lee Kuan Yew in an (benign?) authoritarian State.
This decline in the hold on POWER by Singapore’s creator, Lee Kuan Yew, had a snowball effect which was not easily discerned until someone exposed its ill-effects contrary to the heavy doses of brainwashing propaganda dished out daily by underlings paid by State money. Lee Kuan Yew could brainwash nearly 100% of the Malaysian Chinese by using a complete range of tools at his command eg media, tycoons, etc.
With the perceived decline in POWER which may also be translated into a decline in the MENTAL POWER of the Singaporean Leadership, it can only spell the end of the Singapore’s Golden Odyssey in the 20the Century, 1965-1999 from the Third World to the First, as confirmed by her GDP.
In other words, POWER cannot be passed to the succeeding generation like anything else to do with human behaviour. Hence, all have an equal chance on an even playing field subsequently.
Why the United Nations did not recommend all Third World countries to emulate Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore’s great success?
Why the great silence about a stupendous achievement by one person ?
Why the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew was not awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace ?
I was certainly taken up by the propaganda on Singapore’s gaining its riches by smuggling liquor and cigarettes into Indonesia and Malaysia.
But as I plowed through the years I spent commenting in this distinguished Blog, it gradually dawned on me that there were huge gaps on this smuggling story.

His tale of how his Libyan agent selling his soft military ware like tents, webbing, helmets, boots, belts etc could make enough to retire to Monte Carlo in 5 years. This incident did not strike a bell in my hed in the late 1970s. But it did strike with a loud noise of awakening in me in the 21st Century.
Indeed, this revelation led me to look for clues concerning the brilliance of Lee Kuan Yew in pushing a sleepy colonial entrepot from the Third World to the First !
The real stories of my Beach Road, Singapore’s friend stupendous rise to fortune and Diaward Industries Ltd’s agent’s success soon made my mind to put one and one together to make two ! The sum of the parts is greater than the whole !
The force of evidence which a person could gather in the Net these days forced me to draw the conclusion that the smuggling of cigarettes or liquor factories into Indonesia and Malaysia may not garner Singapore’s wealth from the Cold War Trades of at least US$ 300 Billion !
Singapore’s loss of US$ 108 Billion in October 2008 on Wall Street was an eye-opener on the secret of Singapore’s wealth which could not have been gained by 2 Million Singaporeans working 9-5, 7 days a week for a lifetime ! At that point Singapore could have another US$ 100-150 Billion held in reserves !
And where did all these huge Billions of US Dollars come from ? There was never any mention of US Aid like in KMT Chiang Kai Shek’s China. Singapore just trundled along as in days of old but with increasing arrogance at the end of the 20th Century. Hence, the stupendous success of Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore raised more questions than answers?
I discovered the answers in the Cold War (1948-1989) vis-a-vis Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew and the Separation Caper which was apparently and officially due to the heated debates in the Dewan Rakyat. The Separation Caper and its causes were just a smoke screen manufactured by the me’nage a’trois, the United states, the UK and Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore.
Was our beloved Tunku led round the mulberry bush, so to speak ? Only the future historians will reveal as HISTORY IS THE FINEST ARBITER OF THE TRUTH.
I noticed at the material time the High Commissioner of Australia was part of the Tunku’s golfing team at the Royal Selangor Golf Club, Kuala Lumpur.
If through the adroitness and astuteness of his mind, Lee Kuan Yew managed to inveigle not only an iron cast guarantee for Singapore’s security but also a MONOPOLISTIC MARKET IN THE COLD WAR 1948-1989 to keep her alive, this was indeed his greatest achievement for himself and Singapore as long as the money lasts.

The State of Singapore was the creation of Lee Kuan Yew who cast all in his own image – the picture of a genius of his own making !
The Singapore Story began when Lee Kuan Yew ascended into POWER in 1959 with the communists as his supporters.
By 1962, the Tunku despatched Tan Sri Dr C.C. Too to warn him on the rising power of the communists. Tan Sri Too was in a closed door huddled with him and Special Branch Chief Bogaars for 2 solid days. Years later C.C. Too told me that Lee Kuan Yew was confused and did not know what to do. But “Operation Cold Store” was launched later that year without any mention of the Tunku to this day.
In 1962, Lee Kuan Yew raised a ruckus about a bribery attempt on him by the CIA. In the same year, the Singapore Government engaged the UN economics expert, Dr Albert Winsemius, to be its Adviser (1962-1984). Has the good doctor got a dual role in his job ?
The United States Democratic Party was in POWER in 1962 which became a buddy party of the PAP to this day, 2020. Soon, Singapore’s Prime Minister will be sitting side by side with President Biden after 4 long years sitting out in the cold outside WH !
In 1963, Singapore joined Malaysia.
By 1965, Singapore left the Federation after some bitter debates in the Dewan Rakyat in 1964 which upset the Malaysians after which the PAP was wiped out in the GE of that year. Our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad crossed swords with Lee Kuan Yew and his cohorts. I was there.
In the TV interview of August 1965 as reported by the ‘onlinecitizen.com’ Albatross Files. Lee Kuan Yew was reported to admonish the reporters not to photograph him smiling but crying. Contrary to what the Tunku said in his book that Lee Kuan Yew was quite happy when he left after saying farewell.
Was there a me’nage a’trois between the US, UK and Lee Kuan Yew ? A brilliant person like Lee Kuan Yew would not have left the Federation without an iron-cast guarantee from Uncle Sam which was confirmed by the departure of the British military from Singapore and Malaysia in 1967 with only the RMAAF Sabres at Butterworth until 1976 – after the Vietnam War. Not forgetting that Singapore had no human and natural resources, not even water ! Was the Tunku pushed into the Separation by Whitehall because he said he consulted them first, being a pukka gentleman ?
Fast trek to 1989. Suddenly the Cold War was over 1948-1989 and Uncle Sam came out with his hegemonic spiel, “Globalization. Free Trade. Human Rights” which backfired on him in later years but benefitted the BRICS tremendously.
At this point, Singapore lost her profitable Cold War Trades 1948-1989 to the BRICS being the principals who were only too glad to get rid of the middleman.
For instance, my friend who held the Remington franchise in a small shop in Beach Road, Singapore could make enough during the Colonels’Revolt in Indonesia from 1948 onwards. By 1952, he had made enough to buy a large ex-Japanese rubber estate in Johor from the Custodian of Enemy Properties.
By 1992, Lee Kuan Yew despatched Goh Chok Tong to recruit FTs in India to fill the yawning GDP gap. In recent years, Goh claimed that it was his idea.
By 2002, Singapore had a technical recession. Lee Kuan Yew went to the drawing boards to draw up 4 Initiatives to save his Legacy and his Inheritors eg. Temasek, FTs, 2 casinos, the Free Trade Scheme. All were up and running by 2006. The Free Trade Scheme attracted only Brunei, Chile, New Zealand and Singapore. After the October Crash of 2008, Obama grabbed the Free Trade Scheme as his own and called it the TPPA (now CPTPP) – the Malaysia/Malays/Malaysians/SMEs Killer.
By 2020, all 4 Initiatives of Lee Kuan Yew failed.
From 1959-1990, Singapore could achieve at least a fizzy 7% GDP with the beginnings of a colonial entrepot. But at the turn of the 21st Century with all the glittering buildings, and First World status, Singapore’s GDP found it difficult to breach 3% from 2003-2020. Why ?
The 3 significant pitfalls which faced Singapore was
i) the end of the Cold War 1948-1989 which was also signalled the end of her profitable Cold War Trades,
ii) the loss of US$ 108 Billion in the October 2008 Crash. How much was recovered is as yet to be determined ?
iii) the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic which cost Singapore over S$ 90 Billion in 2020, with S$ 32 Billion from its precious reserves.
The Life saving investment which Lee Kuan Yew could have made by ignoring the conventions and thought out of the box like our Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was to invest in 4,000 tons of GOLD at US$ 300 per ounce from the 1970s concomitant with Singapore’s Cold War Trades 1948-1989. Unfortunately, Lee Kuan Yew with his legalistic mind adopted a conventional approach and Singapore became an ordinary investor in the markets of the West.
With 4,000 tons of GOLD, Singapore would have been King of Hill and not just a knight in rusty armour ! She would have leveraged with the super-powers and a gold business and industry to boot eg. gold banks, bonds, storage, jewellery, refineries, exchange, etc.etc. But sadly, nothing like this happened.
Lee Kuan Yew did not consider that Singapore with no human and natural resources MUST HAVE GOLD AS THE LEVERAGE TO MATCH THE SUPER-POWERS WHEN SINGAPORE HAD THE WHEREWITHAL TO DO SO DURING THE COLD WAR TRADES 1948-1989. He feared losing and antagonising Uncle Sam. According to President Roosevelt,
” The greatest fear is the fear of fear itself !”
That golden opportunity for Singapore to sustain and survive has gone forever. GOLD is now at US 1800 per ounce !
The sudden appearance of the Covid-19 Pandemic caught all countries by surprise in 2020.
At that time, Singapore with its minuscule population was trying to break through the 3% GDP ceiling. She never got anywhere near it when SIA, Changi Airport, hotels, malls, restaurants, tourists, factories, transportation, luxury liners, etc had to temporarily closed down with a negative effect on the GDP !
The Lee Kuan Yew Socio-economic Model of the 20th Century had collapsed. At present, there is no sign of how the World is going to trade again.
But the writing is already on the proverbial wall that in future, big countries with big e-businesses will rule the roost. Singapore with only 900,000 male Chinese aged 21-50 will be insignificant being so tiny !
Therefore, IT PAYS FOR THE SINGAPORE LEADERSHIP TO CONSIDER CONFEDERATING WITH THE UNITED KINGDOM ON AN EQUAL BASIS.
This is good for Singapore, ASEAN, Asia and the World. If the UK becomes successful and stronger later after its BREXIT, it will be more difficult for Singapore to secure favourable terms at a time when Singapore will become weaker ! The advantages are many, the disadvantages few !

Dengan belum tumbangnya MY dan PN saya lihat Malaysia dalam ‘on track’.Menuju kehancuran dalam 10 -20 tahun.Mungkin lebih singkat.Saya tidak nampak Malaysia ke hadapan dengan salah guna undang-undang.Rata rata saya lihat orang tidak lagi percaya dengan ahli politik,khususnya MP2 di kedua2 blok. Dan kepada pentadbiran sekarang rata-rat org sudah muak dan meluat.Sekarang sudah tahap benci terutamanya dengan gst yg bakal? 6. The ‘Rule of Law’ can be easily manipulated by some (corrupt) people, normally those with lots of money. But these hypocrites (corrupt people) accuse others of corruption. Truly so disgusting!
7. In any corruption case, there are two parties involved – the giver (briber) and the receiver. Most of the time only the receiver was charged in court @ punished. The briber (usually) happily got away!

Murtabak’s niece and her husband have whole world as oysters but they have selected Singapore to practise their profession. That means a tiny island nation like Singapore has something good to attract talents like them. My neighbour two children and their son-in-law and daught-in-law are also doctors. Four of them are Malaysians and have settled down in Singapore. LkY’s two child policy doesn’t hurt them since there are so many foreign talents want to live there including entreprneur and inventor Sir James Dyson although Dyson products are manufactured in Malaysia. Chinese characters derived from Han characters and they are pronounced differently according to local dialects. The Han characters are read and pronounced as Mandarin in Beijing but pronounced differently in Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka and etc. Japanese have adopted Chinese characters which are Han characters hundreds of years ago and they have their own version of pronuncuation. Obviously, murtabak doesn’t read and write Chinese except speaking Cantonese.
How many people can afford overseas education in the 1950s? If not he was born in rich family and access to best primary and secondary school education, what was the chance of admission to a top university with high living costs in UK? We have read news many times that some children of poor families were accepted by top universities but could not afford tuition fees and living expenses, and they have to give up that opportunity.

This exceptional and unique use of POWER by just a nephew of an ex-Prime Minister of Singapore must surely be the very First in the Guinness Book of World’s Political Shenanigans or Shambles because nowhere else in the First World has such a breach of the Security Apparatus of a State which was Singapore, has ever happened.
This must also reflected on the state of efficiency and professionalism of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore which should be the authority in question involved in this absurd caper in 2007 !
This breach of a State’s Security Apparatus by a nobody who happened to be just the nephew of its former Prime Minister is so exceptional and unique THAT IT IS APPROPRIATE THAT I REPEAT THE FACTS AGAIN, thus.
In 2007, I sued the illegal Trustees of my father’s Trust for libel and slander in the Singapore High Court. Vide. (2009) SGHC 96.
They were illegal not only as trustees because they were all non-residents of Malaysia but also they stole the Trust, lock stock and barrel, out of its jurisdiction from Malaysia since 2002 which had its staff and building in Kuala Lumpur for 53 years ! All actions concerning the Trust outside of Malaysia’s jurisdiction since 2002 were illegal. Vide. Court of Appeal Putrajaya. Rayuan Sivil No. W-02-473-2003. J Augustine Paul’s Judgement.
The illegal Trustees carried on their actions in Singapore even though the Probate of the Trust was granted by the Supreme Court of Malaya in 1949 and had its own staff and building in Kuala Lumpur for 53 years until the Trust was stolen to Singapore.
From there, the illegal Trustees appointed themselves before a Singaporean Notary Public, dipped into the Trust’s funds, even sued each other in a Singapore High court, etc. Vide. Chan Chi Cheong v Chan Yun Cheong. (2020) SGHC 43.
The illegal Trustees treated the Will as their own and breached all Clauses of the Will of the Deceased, the Trustees Act 1949, Malaya and the Penal Code.
In July 2007, I was issued a cheque drawn on a New York Bank as my portion of the year’s Beneficiary’s distribution amounting to US$ 112,000 after taxes. It was signed by the illegal Trustee who was the nephew of the former Prime Minister and also my nephew who did no work in his life in Singapore. His brother was in the Woodbridge Hospital for decades.
As a matter of convenience and expediency, one Saturday morning in July 2007, I banked in this cheque at the counter of the OCBC headquarters, Chulia Street, Singapore which was well-received by a smiling young Malay counter girl. The following Monday morning, at about 10 a.m., I received a phone call from OCBC, Singapore that my cheque could not be processed. I rushed down to Singapore in the late afternoon.
The following morning promptly as the bank opened its doors. I encountered the banking hall manager, a Hokkien lady with a pale wooden face who refused to answer any of my questions that I was the bank’s customer for 30 years and that its Chairmen whom I knew from Tan Sri Tan Chin Tuan to President Tony Tan. And the cheque was signed by the nephew of the former Prime Minister. She looked frightened and just handed back the cheque to me without saying a word.
Later, I visited Singapore to consult my lawyers on my Suit against the illegal Trustees.
On the first occasion, I checked into the hotel next to Takashimaya Orchard Road. The counter official told me I was upgraded to a deluxe room 2317. On entering the room, I found it was neat and tidy. I went to sleep with the notion that such rooms may be rigged with hidden cameras. I remembered that the IGP PDRM Tan Sri Claude Fenner once told me that if he wanted to catch anyone, everything must appeared as normal as possible.
The following afternoon, I took the MAS flight to return to Kuala Lumpur which I seldom did. The plane on arriving at the KLIA was towed to an isolated parking bay because there was a bomb on board. It was a hoax.
Again, I paid a second visit to my lawyers in Singapore. This time the counter official at the same hotel as was previously told me I was up-graded to a deluxe room. On entering the same room 2317, I discovered the whole room was in a mess. Half-eaten food were left lying around, the bed was not made-up and the bathroom had used towels lying all over the floor.
The Suit against the illegal Trustees for libel and slander was just as interesting.
In the years leading up to 2011, I found that the illegal Trustees were always updated on my comments on issues in the Net. Finally, in 2011, an official looking bulletin on my purported activities appeared and signed by the illegal Trustees. Thereafter, all similar activities stopped. Did the said Minister of Home Affairs, Singapore retire ?
These incidents pose more questions than answers, thus.
1. Who was the Minister in charge of Security and Money Laundering in Singapore in 2007 ?
2. Was the Minister from Oxbridge or the Ivy League ?
3. How a nephew, a Singaporean nobody with no locus standi, a nephew of the former Prime Minister of Singapore had such POWER to order the Minister of Home Affairs, Singapore, to OBSTRUCT, HARASS AND ABUSE HIS OWN UNCLE BY THESE CRUDE AND JUVENILE ACTS ?
4. DID THIS MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS ASK HIMSELF WHY A TRUSTEE WANTED TO OBSTRUCT, HARASS AND ABUSE A BENEFICIARY WHO WAS ALSO HIS UNCLE WHO DID NOT TOUCH THE TRUST’S MONEY ?

Here is the chronology of my socio-economic activities in Singapore. Let all decide whether I broke the laws or not.
1. In 1965, I built the first condos in Singapore, Balmoral Park. Hilltops and Cairnhill Mansions were also built at the same time.
2. In the 1960s, I sold rubber from my family plantation to Kasho, Yokohama from its officials I learnt how to eat Japanese food and international trading practices.
3. In 1968, I organised the first sporting event between Malaysia and Singapore after the Separation of 1965 – the Singapore-Malaysia Shooting Championships held at Mount Vernon, Singapore.
4. In 1970, I established 2 factories in the Jurong Industrial Park, Singapore. One became the famous Nissin Food Industries which has factories in Malaysia at present.
5. In 1972, I permitted the National Library Singapore to photo-copy the rarest Malaysiana in my collection.
6. In 1975, with the Malay control of Sime Darby plc, Sime Sembawang Ltd was later formed.
7. In the early 1980s, I donated to a Research Fund established at the Singapore General Hospital in memory of an important lady.
8. In 1984, together with the distinguished Tan Sri Basir Ismail, we restructured the Singapore blue chip Cycle & Carriage Ltd Singapore successfully.
9. In 1993, I sponsored the ” Gilding the Phoenix ” – Exhibition of Straits Chinese Gold Jewellery from my collection. The Permaisuri Agong Malaysia, Lee Kuan Yew, all the parliamentarians, the Pyramid Club and over 250,000 visited the Exhibition which inspired and revived the moribund Straits Chinese cuisine and culture to this day !
10. In 1993, I influenced Christie’s and Spinks of London to begin auctions in Singapore to put a cachet of international value on South-East Asian fine arts. This created a new industry in Singapore and the neighbouring countries.
11. In 2009, I published a book which became very popular amongst the 20 Public Libraries of Singapore for 3 years !

This old man is so thick skin by denying he is not attacking a dead man like Lee Kuan Yew. He keeps on his story of LKY’s fail policies including two children policy. Since March 2020, no medical task force was formed which even President Biden recognises but only the Minister of Defence and the National Security Council with it Generals, soldiers, guns and bullets.
As I have suggested in March 2020, 9 months ago that i) the Government should educate all the 32 Million Rakyat that they are the First Line of Defence and not the hospitals, ii) raise RM 250 Billion + RM 150 Billion iii) educate the Rakyat that as the Front Line of Defence, they should wear masks at all times outside, wash hands on return, avoid crowds and obey Government directives. iv) borrow 3,000 ventilators from China.
Nothing happened but the hope that the vaccines will cure all. This is the wrong approach because the vaccines last only 6 months and the Covid-19 virus will be with us forever and ever.
It is far cheaper and more rewarding if the 32 Million Rakyat are educated in simple language the dangers posed by the Covid-19 virus as soon as possible. Or else, the Pandemic will be with us and curtail all our activities all the time without an end ! What we see are just a couple of expensive cartoons employing clowns at odd times in the screen !
Just a few days ago, I saw young men and women of certain standing without masks having a jolly time in a crowded bistro in Kuala Lumpur. It crossed my mind that many Malaysians are still not aware of the dangers posed by the Covid-19 virus even after 9 months of the Pandemic.

Today, 6 cases of the Covid-19 virus reported in our residential area of Kuala Lumpur after 9 months of the Pandemic.
Today, my wife told me that the price of a standard large packet of toilet paper jumped from RM 29 to RM 40 ! That’s a 30% increase. She did’nt buy.
Let us hope the price of rice and other essentials do not hit the roof as

It is laughable to see immigrant races like the Chinese especially calling on the government to treat them as equals. Let me ask them, when in the history of the United Kingdom or Australia, just to name two western countries, have anyone seen a country where there are immigrant races, that has given them as many prominent federal ministers and deputy ministers posts since the day the country gained independence. Where and when. This in only possible in Malaysia. The Chinese should consider themselves lucky that Bumiputeras are unbelievable accommodating (!!!), in my view.
The fact is, the Chinese escaped their communist homeland to start a new life in Southeast Asia. And now they want the hosts to treat them as if they had always been in Southeast Asia. Not only is this seditious and against how the Constitution wants them to behave as, not only against the reason why Singapore was ejected by Tunku Abdul Rahman from the federation, but really distracts and inculcates an anti-Malaysia feeling amongst the younger Chinese generation. It never stops, does it.
Just for instance.. the Vision school idea was a right step into abolishing the anti-national vernacular schools in the country. A compromise that was rejected by hardcore Chinese parents. From where I see it, vernacular schools should not have started in the first place! You have migrated to another country so just blend into that other country’s system. That simple.

On a leap day in a leap year of Feb 29 2020 Malaysia Political Frogs (MPs) leap from one party to another party and brought down the people elected GE14 PH’s government with a backdoor PN’s government. Meanwhile the Covid-19 outbreak was confirmed to have reached Malaysia in late January 2020, when it was detected on travelers from China arriving in Johor via Singapore on 25 January. Reported cases remained relatively low at first and were largely confined to imported cases, until by March a localized cluster began to emerge linked to a Tablighi Jamaat religious gathering held in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
2. By 16 March, a nationwide “Movement Control Order” (MCO), where non-essential services, business, travel activities are on lockdown. On 25 March, the MCO was extended by an additional two weeks, until 14 April, as the rate of new cases per day remained consistently high. The MCO was further announced to be extended until 28 April on 10 April, and to 12 May on 23 April. A gradual easing of restrictions was implemented, first phase after the lockdown is the “Conditional Movement Control Order” (CMCO) on 1 May, which allows most businesses to open on 4 May, followed by a “Recovery Movement Control Order” (RMCO) as the second phase from 10 June. Originally slated to expire on 31 August, the RMCO has been further extended to 31 December 2020 due to second and third wave of outbreak, no thanks to Sabah State snap election on 26th September 2020 which was won by PN at a heavy cost to Malaysia as the outbreak first spread by returnees form Sabah election campaign and election worker are now more wide spread with many local clusters all over Malaysia States with daily cases in thousand and covid red zones under EMCO lockdown.

Our educational system must be revamped to nurture tolerance, mutual respect and intercultural dialogue. It must bring the learners together, not separate them on grounds of race, religion or language.
We need to impart in our education system knowledge of the Constitution’s glittering generalities, especially its provisions on inter-ethnic relations. If we read about the making of the Constitution, we will see that by far and large the forefathers of our Constitution especially Bapa Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman, was animated by a remarkable vision and optimism of a shared destiny among the various peoples of the peninsula.
6. As the year 2020 comes to an end, a new beginning awaits us. The rollout of Covid-19 vaccine is a light at the end of the tunnel, but for Malaysians we are still have a long ways to go before we emerge from the darkness. Our only hope is “Returning to the Constitution’s Path of Moderation” but sadly, I can’t see the light at the end of tunnel for my Beloved Malaysia.
7. May good triumph over evil; light dispel darkness; wisdom replace ignorance; humility defeat hubris; love overcome hatred and peace instead of war. Let’s celebrate the return of light inside us and may the light from within shine brightly a path towards a fulfilling life, love, joy, peace, racial harmony and prosperity.
I wish all Malaysians in the coming new decade “Sesat di ujung jalan surut ke pangkal jalan”; let us pray that our nation recaptures the spirit of accommodation and moderation for which it was an exemplar for the rest of Asia and Africa. Learning to live with each other in peace and justice is the true mark of civilization.

Covid devastation.
I always think that an event occurs with not only its negatives but its plusses. For instance, the current pandemic succeeds to halt international trade and in the process destroys companies with weak balance sheets. Over-trading and reckless expansions that go with it soon exposes even companies that have built up a hefty warchest. It gives the lesson that prolonged downturns can destroy even the richest companies on the land. Just like the troubled Virgin Group. That bitter lesson is the plus, and hopefully well-noted, for future businesses to come.
Similarly, on an individual level, the pandemic exposes the human weakness and stubbornness. If only he had earlier decided not to serve others and wasted his entire time treating himself as the end-product for others to exploit, if only he had instead learn to create a product that is of benefit for the world, he could easily have escaped the worst individual side-effect of the pandemic. Unemployment. That bitter lesson is the plus, and hopefully well-noted, for future generations to come.

It’s quite depressing looking at the amount of dividend (4.25% – the lowest so far) and ‘Ehsan bonus’ (0.75% for the first 30,000 units only => RM225; almost nothing…) declared by PNB for the ASB scheme.
ASN is worse – only 2.02 sen per unit (3.18 % based on the expected Net Asset Value – NAV).

I think ASB and ASN investment schemes are no longer attractive (I used to promote ASB/ASN…). I want my money to work harder for me (as passive incomes). 4.25% and 3.18% are not good enough because we (Muslims) need to pay 2.5% zakat for the investment principal (units held), dividend and bonus!
May be I should just take out half of my money in ASN/ASB and invest somewhere else more profitable.
The current Government failed in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result our economy is badly affected.
I wonder why some people still adore the current Tebuk Atap Government for ALL of its failures.
Frankly speaking, I don’t care about those with million Ringgit annual income. What is more important is whether or not a person is financially independent – no need to work at all for his / her entire life (work only for fun / hobby). Yeah, that’s what we call real FREEDOM…

Hence, the deceiving ‘abang-adek’ crept into the Causeway vocabulary together with the Indonesian ‘4- eyes’ phrase which was introduced by the Singaporean media to deceive the hospitable, naive and eager-to-please Malaysian Leaderships 2004-2018.
This propaganda manufactured out of Singapore’s humongous Ministry of Information which is by far too large for a one-street town, has been poured out at the appropriate times to Singapore’s advantage. There were so many mentions of ‘very close private retreats’ and ‘warm and close relationships’ during the period 2004-2018 – a period which Malaysia lost the all of her assets which were desired by Singapore, freely to Singapore and she got NOTHING in return !
In fact, Malaysia lost all her assets which Singapore hungered for ever since 1959 when Lee Kuan Yew ascended into POWER.
From 1957 – 2003, the Prime Ministers of Malaysia brooked no nonsense from their close advisers concerning Singapore.
But from 2004 onwards even ex-Malaysian clerks working for the Singapore Government in Singapore came running back into the Federation leading and looking for ‘low hanging fruits’ which led these vandals to the open doors of the Nation’s treasures- filled Khazanah with the infamous 4th Floor Boys pointing the Way.
Shall we say the Rape of our beloved Malaysia’s financial and natural resources like sand and rocks began at this point ! But these ageing supporters are thinning out and now rapidly replaced by the young nouveau riche from the cash rich TAX FREE RM 2 incorporated places of worship which made so much TAX FREE money that they now reached out into POLITICS with the hidden aim of PROSELYTISE others within their reach.
These nouveaux riche are few in numbers but with a dangerous hidden agenda which the Lims have embraced to continue further their successful and legal political model forever and ever.
They began with Lee Kuan Yew’s siren call ” Malaysia for Malaysians” which is anti-constitutional and augmented by saying ” No when it should be yes !” or ” White when it should be black. ” This gambit which is simple to understand and enduring, proved to be successful in the Malaysian Political environment where the constituents believed whole-heartedly in their Leadership and never posed an awkward question.
By fitting themselves artfully into any dissension stream or trend, the Lims without much effort got themselves wafted upwards to POWER like in 9 May 2018. But their loyalty to their creator Lee Kuan Yew holds first of place in their hearts or bosoms if necessary.
As Dato Seri Azmin revealed in the Dewan Rakyat in August 2020 that the PH Government approved the Lee Kuan Yew inspired CPTPP – the Malaysia/Malays/Malaysians/SMEs Killer in August, 2018 – So soon after 9 May 2018 by neglecting all the promises made in the PH Manifesto. Thereafter, all DAPs activities became opaque and behind closed doors.
DAP has become even more exclusive these days because of the creeping take-over by the BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS. Since the Lims have also become one of them, any struggle for POWER in the DAP is averted ! Smart inside ! Smart outside ?
The future of the DAP is as yet to be determined.
My view is that both the MCA and the DAP, the RICH COMMUNAL MIDDLEMEN CHINESE PARTIES HAVE OUTLIVED THEIR USEFULNESS AND PURPOSE AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS JUST SOCIAL WELFARE PARTIES.
Let the Malay-based Government within the context of the revered Constitution appoints talented and capable Chinese from the 6 Million of them and by-pass these RICH COMMUNAL MIDDLEMEN CHINESE PARTIES to be Ministers, Advisers, Ombudsmen, GLCs executives etc. We really do not need them !
The MCA and the DAP have contributed to the conflict and divisions in Malaysian Politics which became stumbling blocks in the pursuit of UNITY.
No country in the World permits communal middlemen political parties like the MCA and the DAP except Malaysia because such parties create conflict, division and DISUNITY.
If the British could look after the Chinese well in pre-Merdeka Malaya 1957 and in pre-1997 Hong Kong, surely the Malays could do much better than the British ?

In 2007, my nephew (a nobody) who was also the nephew of the ex-Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, saw it fit to use the Security Apparatus of Singapore on me by obstructing, harassing and abusing me after I sued him for libel and slander in Singapore as an illegal Trustee of my father’s Trust which was stolen out of Malaysia’s jurisdiction in breach of the Will and its Malaya Probate 1949, and the Trustees Act 1949. Vide. (2009) SGHC 96 Suit No. 559 of 2007 & (2009) SGCA 62.
In fact, as long ago as 2003, J. Augustine Paul, Court of Appeal, Putrajaya gave a Judgement that what these illegal Trustees did were illegal. Why I did not take action earlier ?
All illegal acts committed by a Trustee are not time-barred. Vide. Judgement. Williams (Respondent) v Central Bank of Nigeria on 19 February 2014. London.
I believe in permitting the illegal Trustees to do all that were illegal so that there is an iron-cast case against them. They broke all the Clauses of the Will, breached all the Sections of the Trustees Act 1949 and the Penal Code.
For example, they appointed themselves as illegal Trustees by way of just appearing before a Notary Public in Singapore or sued each other in a Singapore High Court in Chan Chi Cheong v Chan Yung Cheong who were both illegal Vide. Singapore High Court Judgement as though the Trust is Singapore’s. Vide. (2020) SGHC 43, Originating Summons. No. 703 of 2019.
They treated the Will and Probate as Singapore’s as well as their own and not Malaysia’s where the Trust had its own staff and building in Kuala Lumpur for 53 years. Hence, all acts by these illegal Trustees were ILLEGAL since 2002. Vide Court of Appeal, Putrajaya. Rayuan Sivil No. W-02-473-2003. Judgement by J. Augustine Paul. 2003.
I am the only qualified person to be Trustee.
With his sense of POWER, he managed to use the Security Apparatus of squeaky clean Singapore to obstruct, harass and abuse me in 2007 after I sued him for libel and slander in Singapore. I am definitely no threat to Singapore and her citizens.

Covid Debt Building.
The world as we speak is building mountains of debt, some more successful than others through selling their respective government bonds to whomever foolish enough to buy them (and there are plenty of fools around). Of course, the sole purpose is to bail out national industries, a lot of them in my view deserve to go out of business under more normal circumstances. And of course unlike the mighty US government, there is no guarantee any of these bonds are repayable by the governments that issue them. Most likely they will have to repay the bond holders either by taxing their own citizens via things like the GST and SST and belt-tightening and what nots, or more directly by asking the Bank Negara to print tons of new shiny Ringgit notes by the hundreds of Billions. And we all know where that will lead to. Remember the worthless German Marks that were printed freely by Germany after World War One. Yes, Hyperinflation with a capital ‘H’. A Ringgit today will not even be worth a fraction of the Sen when it happens, quickly. So how about buying gold for a change, before one starts thinking the only reason why the price of gold and other precious metals are ridiculously low today is because governments everywhere have no intention to see a gold rise and halt their own currency printing activities. After all, that’s the only reason why President Nixon degraded the role of gold in 1971 and replaced it with the US dollar.
It will take another war to replace the US dollar. And who dares to take on fifteen nuclear aircraft carriers and thousands of nuclear arsenals scattered around the world. The stupid debt-owning slitty-eyed commies of China?

It is funny to see a Cambridge-trained using his personal friends and acquaintances as examples of Singaporeans and returning Malaysians residing in here. He used some people working in overseas for long time and returning to Malaysia after retirement as instances. As citizens of this country, would you prefer young people live and work here, buy cars and houses to build families, and contribute to country by paying taxes, or old people returning home spending their twilight years? Most of them spent their time in developed countries when they were young and retire here when they are old is because of cost of living is low here. Some of them can’t afford expensive living expenses and medical costs in developed countries. That is the reason MM2H program is relatively success in attracting senior citizens of developed nations where their living expenses and medical costs are high. Will Malaysia become an aging society with so many old people of Malaysians and foreigners living here?
UK had lost its world superpower status after World War 1 and 2. Its economy is not as big and strong as USA as we all know. America is the country hosts to Fortune 500 corporations. Many talents around the world want to take up opportunity to work in USA including British. If it isn’t on downward trend, then why British choose to exit European Union? Twinpeaks also claimed that UK and France are not competitive and he knows their people working attitude.

The Government has come up with a 10 Year Plan for Tourism created by the former Minister of Law in the PMO and her Ministry. Kudos to her for doing something positive even though she did nothing in the PMO.
Let us all hope that there is real funding behind the Plan and not strategic hot air for the moment.
Here are the pitfalls which will trap the unwary in this wonderful Ministry of Tourism.
1. The Minister’s job is to stay at home and make sure the tourists arrive by the millions. No Ministers of Tourism in Italy, Germany, Japan etc travel outside the country like the MCA Minister did. Her predecessors and successors travelled overseas in incognito.
The MCA Minister took her family to tour the Southern Antipodes where the sheep out-numbered the humans, 1,000 to 1 ! She avoided the hot and dirty places of India and China where most tourists come from. She promoted London instead of Malaysia at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show, London with a very expensive Malaysian orchid show paid by the Malaysian Government and she was awarded a Gold Medal by the Queen. The medal legally belongs to the National Museum, Malaysia. She now mixes with the upper-class hoi-polloi.
2. The fellow connected with the Tourist Board in the 1980s retired early. I met him once at lunch and he asked me as soon as I sat down whether I have a second wife. I replied that I have already got two and was looking for a third. Could he help me ? Years later, I saw this fellow and his wife strolling in the Cold Storage Arcade Singapore one evening. I walked away.
3. Lee Kuan Yew appointed his sister-in-law as the Chief of the Singapore Tourist Board for a life time to prevent hanky-panky with the Board’s money. The tourism business is a CASH business.
4. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND THE MINISTER OF TOURISM TO BE AWARE THAT TOURISM IS A CASH BUSINESS. Therefore, its officers are beyond reproach like Caesar’s wife.
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE TRAVEL AGENTS MUST MAKE MONEY – the most important element in the tourist business. THIS MEANS TAX-FREE INCENTIVES MUST BE GIVEN ALL ROUND FOR AT LEAST 5-10 YEARS.
6. AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, TOURISM IS THE ONLY RAPID WAY OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA CAN RECOVER HER STOLEN PUBLIC MONEY. ALL COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD WILL DO THE SAME IN TIME. In 1993, I sponsored the first Exhibition of Straits Chinese Gold Jewellery from my collection in the National Museum, Singapore. A special coffee table sized volume was published. Later the curator reported to me that DYMM Permaisuri of Malaysia and Lee Kuan Yew, all the parliamentarians, the Pyramid Club and over 250,000 Singaporeans visited the Exhibition. The success of the Exhibition gave birth to a new Straits Chinese business, culture and cuisine in Singapore to this day!
Fast trek to 2007.
In 2007, I sued the Trustees of my father’s Trust for libelling and slandering me. One of them was the nephew of Lee Kuan Yew who was my brother-in-law through marriage and was also my nephew. In fact, these illegal Trustees had already stolen the Trust out of the jurisdiction of Malaysia where it was domiciled with office staff and its own building for over 53 years in compliance with the Probate granted to the Will by the Supreme Court Malaya in 1949 !
In June, 2007, these so-called Trustees issued a cheque drawn on New York to me in payment for my share of the Trust’s income as a beneficiary which was US$ 112,000 after taxes. For expediency sake’s, one Saturday morning, I banked in this cheque at the OCBC Headquarters at Chulia Street, Singapore which was well-received by a young smiling Malay girl over the counter because it takes only 2 weeks to clear New York from Singapore and nearly a month from Kuala Lumpur.
The following Monday morning at about 10 a.m., someone in the OCBC Singapore called me and told me that my cheque could not be processed by the said bank. I rushed down to Singapore by late Monday and confronted the pale Hokkien looking wooden face of the banking hall manager. I asked her why my cheque was returned to me because I was the bank’s customer for 30 years and Lee Kuan Yew’s nephew even signed the cheque. She looked frightened and kept mum and refused to utter a single word to my queries but she just handed the cheque back to me.
During my Suit against the illegal Trustees of my Father’s Trust, I made 2 overnight trips to consult with my lawyers.
On the first trip, I booked at the well-known hotel next to Takashimaya in Orchard Road, Singapore.
The counter officer told me that I would be up-graded to a deluxe room. This room was neat and tidy. So, I went to sleep as usual with the notion that there would be hidden cameras in such a room. I returned to Kuala Lumpur by a MAS flight which I seldom did, in the afternoon the following day. The plane flew off from Changi. On arrival at the KLIA, the plane was towed to an isolated parking bay because there was a bomb in it. It was a hoax.
Later, I made a second trip to consult my lawyers. At the same hotel, the counter officer again told me that I was upgraded. I discovered that it was the same deluxe room as previously. But this time, the whole room was a shamble. The bed was not made. Food and drinks were lying all over the room. The bathroom’s condition was no better with used towels still not replaced. This struck a bell in my head ! The PDRM IGP Tan Sri Claude Fenner once told me that if he wanted to catch someone, everything should appear as normal without any appearance of the unusual. Also, I already knew the story of the owner of this hotel who was my friend.
In 2007, at the material time concerning my cheque’s rejection by OCBC in which I was a customer for 30 years and the later incidents which I mentioned, who was the alleged Minister in charge of security and money-laundering in which the Monetary Authority of Singapore was also directly involved ?
In tightly controlled Singapore, is it possible that the alleged Minister’s underlings overstepped their duties and responsibilities to operate the State’s security apparatus as set up by Lee Kuan Yew without authority.
Were these illegal actions brought to bear on me who was never a threat to the security and well-being of Singapore done behind Lee Kuan Yew’s back ordered by his nephew who happened to be also my nephew ?
As a result the Singapore Government’s security apparatus could be manipulated and abused by nobodies who happened to know the alleged Minister who was obviously aware that my nephew was Lee Kuan Yew’s nephew.
Such illegal acts must surely spell the decline of a State, any State for that matter. The words, ” SQUEAKY CLEAN SINGAPORE ” were never applicable in the first place but ” ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY !”

One evening as I was preparing to return home in Ward 14 of the KL General Hospital, suddenly the trolley trundled in with a moaning patient on it. I examined her complaint which was her right arm was swollen to a size as big as an elephant’s trunk. The smell emanated from her was indescribable. She told me that while she was reaching out to do her ablution with her right hand by the side of the mining pool, a large black snake bit her hand. I was flabbergasted as I was trained in a place where there were no snakes. I asked the staff nurse what medication did my predecessors prescribed. She replied, ” The Anti-snake Serum made by the All-India Serum Institute.” She got hold of a bottle for me. With a sigh of relief, I injected the whole bottle into the moaning patient. She recovered the next day happily.

If we just do a survey among expatriates from around the world by asking them which country scores higher between Malaysia and Singapore in terms of efficient, safe, corruption-free, better education, and strict enforcement of law. The answers would not be a surprised to the people of both countries. Perhaps that murtabak will not accept the facts and will continue highlight LKY’s shortcomings and failed policies but silent on the results of good policies and plans. If LKY’s policies were most of it wrong, will Singapore stand where it is today? I wonder anyone of his children and grandchildren is currently living in Singapore or has migrated to overseas to enjoy better quality of life and opprtunity.

Civil servants come to work on time with the clock-in system and are readily identifiable by their name tags, but has it made them more productive, more committed to public service, less corrupt? Judging from Mahathir’s own harsh remarks about the civil service, it would seem that the answers to all these questions are a resounding no.
In fact, successive prime ministers have complained about the civil service but all have been quick to also praise them (and raise their salaries) for fear of antagonising an important vote bank.
We also spend millions, year after year, on civil service training programmes, and send civil servants abroad to study. Much of it is simply a waste of time and money.
Clearly, transplanting Japanese work ethics into the civil service, if it’s at all possible, is going to take a lot longer to realise. However, the experience of other countries when it comes to the civil service may be instructive: where there is uncompromising enforcement of rules and performance standards and a really transparent and competitive promotion system, public servants tend to perform better. The prospect of losing their jobs or being denied promotion is a powerful incentive to keep civil servants honest.

In my comment on ‘Meritocracy’, I mentioned only half the story of the decline of Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew, from the sublime to the ridiculous.
The decline began in 1990 after the Cold War 1948-1989 ended suddenly in 1989.
Thereafter, Uncle Sam came out with his hegemonic spiel, ” Globalisation. Free Trade. Human Rights.” which back-fired on him. But it benefitted the BRICS.
With this spiel, Singapore lost her lush Cold War Trades 1948-1989 to the BRICS which were actually the principals and rightly, they got rid of the middle-man, Singapore.
The huge profitability of such trades may be illustrated by my Singaporean friend who held the Remington franchise in his Beach Road shop, Singapore during Indonesia’s Colonels Revolt of 1948. By 1952, he could buy up a huge ex-Japanese rubber estate in Johor from the Custodian of Enemy Properties, BMA.
With the huge bonanza from the Cold War Trades 1948-1989, Lee Kuan Yew felled into his own trap by succumbing to the flatteries of the gnomes of Zurich whom he worshipped next to himself. Even though he had Singapore’s interest at heart and was not corrupt, a term as we know it, he preferred to exchange of real paper money signed by Singapore for paper signed by the gnomes of Zurich. In the 1990s, Singapore was finding hard to maintain a creditable GDP even with the huge Cold War (1948-1989) bonanza of at least US$ 300 Billion which pushed the tiny tropical isle to First World status. Now the problem is how to climb down the slippery pole or to maintain the First World status !
By 2002, there was a technical recession in Singapore with the long established Temasek Holdings just getting into its strides.
Lee Kuan Yew launched 4 Initiatives to save his Legacy and his Inheritors by 2006 eg. i) Temasek ii) FTs imports iii) 2 casinos iv) Free Trade Agreement in which only Brunei, Chile, New Zealand and Singapore were interested.
After the October Crash of 2008, Obama grasped hold of the Free Trade Agreement, renamed the TPPA (the Malaysia/Malays/Malaysians/SMEs Killer) as his own.
By 2017-2020, all 4 Initiatives failed.
As I mentioned before, if Lee Kuan Yew could think out of the box like our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir whose Policies did not fail him, he would have invested in 4,000 TONS OF GOLD AT US$ 300 per ounce since the 1970s ! By now, Singapore would be King of the Hill and not just a knight in rusty armour ! Lee Kuan Yew in the daze of the many adulations, flatteries etc began to behave like the Oracle of the East in the 1990s. He forgot in his self-exuberance that Singapore had no human or natural resources and the huge bonanza of US$ 300 Billion was a one-off bit of luck which would never return again.
He was not aware of the saying among diplomats, ” The Americans forget easily. The British try not to forget. The French never Forget.” Any person who visited America will understand this. The Americans move from place to place in their vast country looking for a living. They have to forget easily about their recent past as they travelled westwards.
In 2020, if Singapore has 4,000 tons of GOLD, it would be a different place because there would be no FTs and the price of GOLD at US$ 1,800 per ounce !
Lee Kuan Yew because of his character of being the best within any professional practice or convention, missed the critical option of building up a RESOURCE which could be controlled by Singapore because she has no human or natural resources of any kind. With 4,000 tons of GOLD, Singapore had the leverage of POWER.
GOLD has many negative factors which deterred him eg. cost of storage, no interest or income incurred etc. The economists always condemned GOLD as a barbaric relic. He played safe and conventional not radical.
But the fault with Lee Kuan Yew was the fact that his legally trained mind could not release him from the bonds of convention practices which bound him down. Unlike, our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who entered the famous King Edward VII Medical School, Singapore by the front door and did not sneak in by the backdoor of a lowest ranking non-collegiate college. Hence the latter could think out of a box with common sense and without an adviser ! The comparison is like between chalk and cheese !

What draws them to Chinese (and other private) schools? The professionalism and calibre of school teachers, the discipline, the work ethic, the good learning environment and equal treatment of all students irrespective of race or religion. In other words, everything that is missing from our national schools, everything that our national schools were once exemplars of.

In reply to your questions, I wouldn’t worry too much about a tiny group of non-Chinese parents who like to send their children to Chinese vernacular schools. They can continue to do so but just not in this country in future. Taiwan is a good nearby choice. Perhaps they are color-blind and worship China; that’s their choice. As for religious schools, they are protected under the country’s Constitution and perhaps will get the support of the majority of the Muslim population in the country. International schools, on the other hand, are part of the package offered to expatriate families, and they are a necessary part of completing children’s education so they can rejoin their respective home-countries’ education systems. As to the presence of Malaysian students at International schools, this is a choice made available to those who can afford the hefty fees, just as the wealthiest families normally send their children overseas from a young age. But they are a tiny group of people, very insignificant population-wise.
The point is, and you still do not get it, is that the Chinese of Malaysia have to be assimilated into the mainstream Malaysian psyche, and to instill patriotism. Abolition of Chinese vernacular school in the country is certainly a necessary and vital step. Expatriate families are not a problem to the country so their schools are not a problem. The same goes for Islamic religious schools as long as they teach the official version of Islam, I suppose.

Brunei decided against joining the Federation of Malaysia because Brunei being Brunei, the position of their monarchs is all-important, definitely more important than Brunei’s economic welfare. Yes, it is true there are pockets of poverty in Sabah and Sarawak (and of course considered too high by modern-day Malaysia’s standard), and many cunning Chinese DAP politicians and their Kadazan/Iban Christian (but rarely Muslim) counterparts in Borneo like to blame this on the Federal government. Well, to me, that’s not the fault of the Federal government or of the Malay or Muslim leaders in Kuala Lumpur. Despite being given equal treatment with Malays and Muslims by the country’s Constitution, Borneo natives are still behind in so many areas compared to Malays on the Peninsula. In my view, it could have been a lot worse had Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputeras opt not to move to the Klang Valley to find work.
The reason for this is economic, which not many understand. Sabah and Sarawak are too far away from the concentration of national industries. And national industries are normally located as close as possible to the nation’s capital. And as Mubarakchan pointed out in his support for Tun Mahathir’s era, that these heavy industrialization were solely responsible for the overnight creation of 6 million Malay middle class on the Peninsula, which I agree. In my view, anyone living on the periphery and not the center of the Peninsula are bound to receive less attention (North and East Coast), what more of being like in another country as Sabah seems to be. Arguably, the obvious way to turn the situation around is to be an independent country itself (Sabah or Sarawak), but that is easier said than done. Sabah’s population is so tiny by world standard (only 3 million plus) but arguably it can rely on oil and gas for sure to spearhead its economic development. Turning into another Middle Eastern oil kingdom economy like the UAE is the most probable route to survival. But will this be enough and for how long, is the next equally vital but unaddressed question (to me anyway). This had been mulled before by Sabah and Sarawak leaders, both Muslims and non-Muslims, and have decided to stick inside Malaysia, and of course to the relieve of Peninsula’s Malays and the annoyance of Peninsula’s Chinese. Plenty of reasons for this, just as there are inexplicable reasons why Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland decide to stick together with the patronizing English inside the United Kingdom. It is a matter of economic survival and national pride as opposed to ethnic identity and parochial pride.
Since this is a favorite topic, let me tell Tun’s blog followers why there is poverty on this planet. And this applies to everyone regardless of where they are. People suffer through their lives because they let other people (including their well-meaning governments) decide what they should do with their lives. Too (my relative), the highest ranking Chinese on Counter-Insurgency in the Federal Government, to convince Lee Kuan Yew that the Communists in Singapore were getting stronger. Tan Sri Too was in a huddle behind closed doors for 2 solid days trying to convince Lee Kuan Yew with the Special Branch Chief Bogaars by his side. He later told me that Lee Kuan Yew was at a loss on what to do with the Communists.
2. Operation Cold Store was launched at the end of the year. There was no mention of the role the Tunku played in this.
3. Lee Kuan Yew raised a lot of fuss of an attempt to bribe him by the CIA.
4. The UN economics expert Dr Albert Winsemius was appointed Adviser to the Singapore Government. Was he performing a dual role to keep a baleful eye on behalf of Uncle Sam for the future undertakings by Singapore/Lee Kuan Yew in the Cold War Trades to come 1963-1989 ?
1963-1965
1. Lee Kuan Yew, a Double First in Law, Cambridge who knew the Malaysian Constitution by heart raised a ruckus on “Malaysia for Malaysians” in the Dewan Rakyat. This was compounded by his opposition to the dissolution of the Colonial Currency Board (1957-1972) which made the rich richer, the poor poorer.
2. The Malaysians were flabbergasted.
3. In the GE of 1964, the PAP was wiped out.
4. Singapore separated from Malaysia after the Tunku mentioned that he consulted Whitehall. Also, he mentioned that Lee Kuan Yew was very happy when he left him after saying farewell.
5. The ‘onlinecitizen.com’ disclosed that the secret British ‘Albatross Files’ to Whitehall that Lee Kuan Yew at the Press conference on the Separation admonished the journalists not to photograph him smiling but only crying.

1. Presto! At the end of the Cold War 1948-1989, Singapore became super-rich and was wafted into a 1st World status country. By 2008, Singapore could lose US$108 Billions on Wall Street in the October Crash of 2008. She must have invested at least US$ 200 Billions or more.
2. For the nubile and naive Malaysian minds, Lee Kuan Yew gave the impression that Singapore’s Wealth came from smuggling cigarettes and liquor to Indonesia and Malaysia. May I ask how many such factories have to be smuggled to make say US$ 300 Billion ?
3. My friend who owned Diaward Industries Ltd Jurong, told me in 1978 that his Libyan agent for his military software (tents, boots, uniforms, webbing, etc) could retire to Monte Carlo after 5 years in the business because people fight all the time.
4. Why the United Nations never said that all African and South American countries should follow Singapore’s model for success.
5. Why Lee Kuan Yew was never awarded by the West, the Nobel Prize ?
6. Why Singapore is now suffering from a complete dislocation of Lee Kuan Yew’s socio-economic Model ?
The above-mentioned facts provide a simple understanding of the failure of Lee Kuan Yew’s life-long promotion of Meritocracy in his own interest.

1. Did he have law tuition with the un-employed British trained lawyers during the Japanese Occupation 1942-1945.
2. He himself mentioned that he was at the LSE first and inveigled himself into the lowest rank non-collegiate Fitzwilliam over-aged 23, without Latin or Greek and an Open Examination in late 1946 with only a handful of war weary veterans as his rivals. Later, at the important Bar Finals, London, he was placed last, his wife, 3rd out of 300. In 1959, my wife was placed 7th out of 700 !
Lee Kuan Yew’s Failed Policies. He had 47 of them (1959-2015)
The worst are as follows :
1. His life-long Policy to do down Malaysia which failed even before the Pandemic because the World changed with e-biz and mega-markets.
2. The 2 Child Family Policy of 1972 was cruel and thoughtless. If he had entered Christ’s College, Cambridge – Charles Darwin’s college, he would not have initiated such a Policy which even Hitler eschewed. This absurd Policy to produce Singaporean geniuses never produced any to this very day. But it cruelly with all the suicides, divorces, abortions, religious strife, emigrations, late marriages, drop in marriages etc. produced only 900,000 Chinese males aged 21-50 in 2010. Vide. The Singapore Government White Paper on Population 2011.
Finally, 2 Senior Ministers announced in 2013 that in future, applications for jobs and promotions will not only be based on academic qualifications but also on other talents. THIS SPELT THE END OF SINGAPORE’S FAMED MERITOCRACY BASED ON THE IVY LEAGUE AND OXBRIDGE !
In 2010, on hot Singapore evening, a female Cambridge graduate stripped herself naked and romped around Holland Village with her equally naked Caucasian boy friend. As the horrible year 2020 reaches its end, we have good discussions on the alleged past mistakes of our beloved Leaders 1957-2003 by reasonable commentators in this distinguished Blog which I fully appreciate.
So far, our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said nothing in his own defence against the alleged accusations of scandals related to him.
May be I am the only person in the World since 1954 who saw things in a different light as I was closely associated to the top of the hierarchy but not quite at the very top – close enough to understand the Policies and the going-ons of the day 1960-2003.
Not only that, I believe I am the only qualified industrialist (home grown) to comment on the derring-dos of the closest aides of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the GLCs during his tenure.
In the mid-1970s, I revived the biggest corporate scandal of the day, Folex Industries Berhad, the largest textile company, which owed the Consortium of Banks, MIDF, HSBC, UMBC, Standard Chartered, Bangkok and Moscow Narodny RM 35 Million before interest and had empty coffers. The Consortium did not bring out a single sen.
I was paid only RM 7,000 before tax per month with one month bonus, an Alfa Romeo but no housing allowance for 9 long years because the Consortium said I was rich and did not require more.
Nowadays, a GLC executive could garner RM 500,000 basic salary a month in a money-losing GLC. Remember the IHH Singapore Minister in disguise who walloped RM 100 Million basic salary a year. Vide. The Edge. June 2018.
At the end of my successful restructuring foray of Folex in which I was not a shareholder, the Consortium led by MIDF, walked away after being paid in full as though nothing happened and rewarded me with nothing. Folex is still in existence as Sri Hartams Berhad 1984-2020 today !

Somehow the scintillating corporate restructuring of Folex Industries was suppressed in the media. I do not explain. I do not complain like what Henry Ford II said to the journalists after he was caught for drunken driving with a blonde by the LAPD in 1962 !
The Shanghainese, the smartest Chinese, always said, ” Anyone who makes money out of textiles will be able to make money from all the other businesses.” I believe I qualify on this wise observation by my peers !
From the above facts, I now explain why there were failures which were followed by huge scandals as alleged in the comments lodged here in this distinguished Blog.
Also, I state that I do not agree with Para 1 and 3 of sc’s comment but only Para 2 which I think is already happening if we do not have Malay Unity soon. Hence, my exhortations to the Malay cohorts to unite in the Spirit of Malay Unity 2020 like that of their predecessors, the Royal Sultans and the Malays of 1945 to thwart the powerful British proposal, the Malayan Union 1945 ! All other proposals should be ignored because these are un-Constitutional !
1n 1984, I was the first and only closest aide who did not create a huge scandal. I was given a task which after a few days I found it could not be done. This task was given in trust which I did not break and did not cross the red line in the sand beyond which there was no return.
Thereafter, all the closest aides (except me), crossed the red line and caused the huge scandals and blamed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had no Power to create scandals like his closest aides !
Years later in 1995, a crooked Chinese somehow managed to do a similar task which I found impossible to do in 1984 and brought bankruptcy to Sime Bank/Sime Darby at the cost of RM 350 Million. He profited as usual. The bank’s innocent executive took the rap ! Sime Darby was bankrupted the first time with a total loss of RM 1.20 Billion in 1997 ! Th second time was in 2010 which loss was RM 2.10 Billion!
1. The First Example.
My old friend since 1949, a trader, was the first in the management of Proton. All accessories were padded. Later, the 5 wheel rims of the Proton were padded in collusion with the manufacturer who now owns 4 acres of Bukit Tunku land and the executives responsible now in hiding owning tiny listed PLCs !
If 100,000 Protons were sold per year and 5 wheel rims per Proton were padded not including the radios, visors, wipers etc, how much did the crooked closest aide steal per year based on RM 500 per rim if not RM 1,000 ?
Not forgetting I could sell the waste from Folex, a textile factory for RM 20,000 per month. The Proton factory must have yielded at least RM 200,000 per month. I was told this alleged theft belonged to the factory manager ! These crooked closest aides did not know that in manufacturing, all padding and wastage must be eliminated with zero tolerance because manufactured products are the most competitive in the World. Therefore, every sen must not leak out of the system which I achieved in the restructuring of Folex Industries Berhad 1975-1984 ! The Consortium expected me to run away within 2 weeks but I made millions of ringgits for the Consortium and the shareholders over a period of 9 years 1975-1984 !
2. The Second Example.
This closest aide of mixed Asian extraction was only a factory manager in a small tin-plate factory in Johor Baru in 1982. In 10 short years he was the owner of a bank and collected Stradivarius violins at US$ 5 Million a piece ! Before this in the mid-1980s, this fellow was boasting in front of Singapore’s DPM Dr Goh Keng Swee, other PAP stalwarts and my cousin after a golf game at the Singapore Island Club that he had the Good and the Great of Malaysia by the ears ! Stupid.
By 1992, he could tell me to resign from the Directorship of the Cycle & Carriage Group on both sides of the Causeway using his Boss’s name so that as a Director of the Group in my place he could sell the best properties in Singapore, Ardmore Park and the Cycle & Carriage Bintang Headquarters, Petaling Jaya to his buddies in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur without valuation. In 1995, he quickly retired as Director after he sold these valuable properties belonging to the Public to his pals ! In 1984, I was appointed by the EPF to restructure the Cycle & Carriage Group together with the distinguished Tan Sri Basir Ismail.
I resigned immediately, not because I was afraid of his mention of his Boss’s name which was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but I wanted to catch this crook in the Annual Reports of the Cycle & Carriage Group 1973-1974 ! His name and crooked deeds are now forever engraved in stone in the Annual Reports ! Crooks are born stupid. He boasted openly in the Net under his name that he is now a permanent resident of Singapore and only lends his Stradivarius violins to Singapore and Shanghai only. The violins alleged to been bought with Malaysian public money !
All the closest aides except me who were trusted by our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad let him down and betrayed his trust for the sake of the filthy lucre. All of them in hiding because they knew what they consciously did even though they had the privilege of having breakfast with him in Langkawi and nodded their loyalty in unison to the Country and him. Subsequently, these closest aides walloped so much money that their charges under their care could only collapse even though these were all monopolies !
It must be made very clear that no scandals arose with projects under the direct control of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
All the other GLCs were entrusted to the closest aides who betrayed his trust in them who passed the blame to him.
A Prime Minister has to depend on trusted closest aides always. Just look at how Lee Kuan Yew with his buddies administered Singapore ! They did not let him down except for one in the 1972 HDB affair !
Here is an interesting snippet on another closest aide.
In the mid-1990s, my phone suddenly rang in the middle of the night. My friend from Geneva sounded excited and I could smell the VSOP vapours emanating from the hearing piece. He said, ” I just had a fine dinner with the Onassis of Malaysia and his beautiful girl friend. ” I wondered whether it was the VSOP or the girl which made him so excitable. He continued, ” The girl is his curator of the art gallery owned by him in Singapore !” Hmm. Hmm. I asked, ” This fellow’s hair is all white ?”. He replied, ” Yes!”.
See the abuse and betrayal of the trust which our beloved Tun placed on the closest aides who all became play-boys at Government’s expense ? Another scandal was in the offing !
Here is another snippet. This fellow was given a monopoly to own and rejuvenate. It was alleged that he not only took over the company but the lady Director on the Board as well. He soon succumbed to the pleasures of London town and with the company’s money bought a glass office building for his own use along Cromwell Road, London. His character forbade him to do normal business with a monopoly. Soon the business collapsed with a big scandal.
There is a saying. ” Making money is not difficult. But to find the right person to make the money is just like trying to find a hen’s tooth in the haystack !”

How can the Prime Minister lure high-tech foreign investors when they are still needed in their own countries. Google and Facebook don’t need to come to Malaysia simply because the high wages in the U.S. are not critical to a high-tech company. The Prime Minister has got a better chance of luring Western and Japanese investors who can no longer compete in labor-intensive industries like textile and electronics, if they had stayed in Europe and Japan.
The only way for the country to escape the middle income trap it is in right now is if its own home-grown companies stop their obsession in real estate, utilities and government infrastructures. There is no need to have a meritocratic college or university before one can begin a high-tech upstart. Global talents are everywhere, especially from India. Singaporean companies employ a lot of talented foreign engineers, but the difference between Singaporean companies and Malaysian Chinese companies is this: the Singaporeans focus on high-tech products and pay a world-class salary, and the Malaysian Chinese focus on manufacturing cheap gloves and building condominiums and paying minimum wage to Bangladeshi workers.
That’s the difference. The mentality. Don’t blame the government. Clean your own sh*t.

Malaysia govt since Tun adiministration has been trying to attract high-tech value-added foreign investments to set up businesses here. You have to ask whether this country have enough talented people. Will they stay here after gaining years of experience or work in overseas with multiple times of remuneration.
You have to ask whether local public universities promote fair competition and meritocracy in providing equal opportunities for intelligent students to excel.

Good. Now you realize how important it is for the country to escape the middle income trap. Now try telling that to all the big Malaysian Chinese conglomerates in the country like YTL, Genting, etc. to venture into high-tech manufacturing instead of building more casinos, government-financed infrastructures, utilities and condominiums. Then perhaps there is just the possibility of giving back to the Malaysian public through higher wages. If they do that, then the Prime Minister does not need to attract the low-end labor-intensive foreign investors anymore.

Like you said every aspiring employees should try to run businesses, if majority of employees become employers, who will fill up vacancies for employees? Take in cheap foreign workers?
If Malaysia can deliberlately weaken Ringgit to make exports competitive, other Asean and Asian countries can not lower their exchange rates to compete with you? Use your brain, how long can Malaysia stay competitive with cheap labor cost and weak currency? This strategy has been used since 1970s untill today. Do you mean Malaysian exports have to stay cheap to compete with Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam where they have abundance of cheap labour force? Did Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong weaken their currencies in the 2000s to make their exports competitive? Samsung used to be cheap and lower quality products in the 80s and 90s. They have improved and transformed their product quality and design to compete with Japanese products beginning 2000s. As a result of that change, Samsung has successfuly conquered smart phone, TV, refrigerator, microwave oven markets where Japanese used to dominating. Is that meant Japanese govt has to weaken Yen to compete with Koreans?
Weaker Ringgit might even deter Malaysian from spending and reduing food imports such as rice, beef, onion, garlic and etc which are not produced enough locally. We have seen citizens of other countries do not trust their local currencies by using USD as hard currency for daily trade.
Do MRCB, Sime Darby, UEM, SP Setia, Naza sound familar to you? Aren’t these GLCs in property development business? Why would govt need to involve in business? They want to create chairman positions for politicians?

I appreciate the concern from the three of you of the weak Ringgit. And there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that you blame this on heavy debt level, corruption and government fiscal mismanagement. And what about the level of corporate debt and much more insidious the preoccupation of so-called corporate giants in private sector Malaysia with real estate and plantation businesses, eh? I am not here to defend (god forbid) the track record of former and current prime ministers of the country, but the three of you need to sort out the wheat from the chaff, really.
The country is one of the top trading nations in the world today precisely because of the presence of global corporations here, exporting everything from refrigerators to palm oil. The only reason they are even here is because it makes sense to sell low-end trinkets to the world when you can sell in volumes, and to do that the government has to keep a weak currency. That’s the only reason why Malaysia is a high flying economic juggernaut that it is today. If the country had remained a strong currency country, you can forget about any MNC interested to set up their factory here. Profit for the corporations matter, not the welfare of the country’s inhabitants. Ordinary working Malaysians take it in the stride because of the employment and false sense of security they get as a result, so they don’t complain that much. Yes, imported goods are expensive (especially imported cars, which used to cost only RM5,000? for a VW in the 1970s according to my dad, well before the PROTON era), and vacationing in Disneyland or Europe seem to be the average Malaysian employee’s once in a lifetime dream. Vacationing in Sabah is more within their means.
Try not to take away credit where credit is due. I know that the country is run by Malay leaders, but the real-estate/plantation-crazed Malaysian Chinese businesses are just as if not more stupid as they look to outsiders.

History is the finest Arbiter of the Truth. Here is the true history concerning Bank Negara Malaysia and the Ringgit. I was there 1972-1981.
From 1972-1980, the Bank Negara Malaysia was under the Governorship of the illustrious Tun Ismail bin Mohd. Ali. He single-handedly created the formidable reputation of Bank Negara Malaysia during his tenure 1958-1980. The commercial bankers always looked over their shoulders at the very mention of his name. Like the Singaporeans whenever Lee Kuan Yew’s name was mentioned !
First, he followed all the rules and regulations to the latter which kept all the banks in line. No hanky-panky was tolerated or else, an examination team would be in the recalcitrant bank the next day. Second, he practised hands-on administration which meant he could peer over the shoulder of the lowest level clerk at any time of the day. This kept the Bank Negara ship-shape and efficient. Third, all procedures like the opening of tenders were transparent which was done in front of the Board of Directors. Fourth, central bank practices as recognised World-wide were enforced strictly and assiduously. Fifth, all the Directors and Staff must come from impeccable backgrounds and behaved accordingly. I did not venture out at night for over 10 years or possible scandalous places !
At the material time, 1972-1981, the Bank Negara Malaysia had gold in its vaults and the Ringgit was RM 1.00 = S$ 1.03 until the Government changed its Policy to emphasise on the exports of Malaysia’s manufactured goods and natural resource based products.
It was the proper Policy to keep the Ringgit strong between 1972-1982 because World-wide confidence must be created in the Ringgit i) with the advent of the NEP after a horrendous political dislocation on 13 May 1969 ii) the dissolution of the British inspired colonial Policy of the Malaysia Singapore Brunei Currency Board (1957-1972) in 1972. I was there.
A currency Board meant a Colony could only spend what it earned.
This was the main factor which contributed to the riots because its Policy (1957-1972) made the rich richer and the poor poorer.
On 13 May 1969, the British had 70% of the best assets in Malaysia, the Chinese 25% of the third rate. The Malays just 2% of the economy.
Hence, my 1972 Concept to capture Sime Darby to fast trek the Malays into big corporate business without impinging on the existing and future Chinese businesses. For my effort, a MCA Leader called me ” a Malay bum sucker !’ With this excuse and catchy phrase he could remit S$ 100 Million from Singapore to his girl friend’s account in Hong Hong via my friend after only 8 years in politics !
By keeping the Ringgit strong 1972-1982, Malaysia slowly regained her confidence, pride and stature by 1981. Fortunately, the Bank Negara Malaysia Policy 1972-1982 was correct in the face of the underpinning two changes of the Federal Government in 1975 and 1981.
In other words, Bank Negara Malaysia created a huge surplus of wealth for the future and significant expansion of Malaysia’s famed economy by the next Administration of our beloved Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, 1981-2003.
This period brought about his significant creation of the 6 Million Malay Middle Income Group in the urban areas which to this day no one seemed to appreciate and the many iconic projects established by him without an Adviser.
Unlike Singapore which had to rely on the professional advice of the UN economics expert, Dr Albert Winsemius who was engaged by the Singapore Government as Adviser from 1962-1984.
When Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad retired in 2003, the country’s debt was only RM 350 Billions.
Now the debt is over RM 1 Trillion (2004-2018) without seeing any worthwhile results. This huge debt does not include the billions of ringgits incurred by the hundreds of GLCs which are beyond direct control of the Government !
That is the true comparison between the 4 significant historical periods of Malaysia’s economy concerning the Ringgit, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Governments of the day being 1957-1972, 1972 – 1981, and 1981-2003 and 2004 – 2018 !
Malaysia’s public money evaporated between 2004-2018 and the country’s debt zoomed up to one Trillion ringgits from RM 350 Billions in 2003, without the GLCs debts ! Even today we can see mammoth buildings and rail structures half-completed all over Kuala Lumpur.
The UN, the IMF and the World Bank reported in their Annual Reports that over RM 1.2 Trillion flowed out of the country between 2002 – 2018. This meant the Ringgit must reflect the loss of asset backing as reported by the World agencies.

Kudos to you. i whole heartedly agree with your views and sentiment. Mahatir had geared industry to be an avenue for local jobs. He wasn’t visionary enough to think about making a profit or to even fathom profitability. Lets not forget how much he sold MV Augusta for… 1 Euro. That is something for Mahatir’s Legacy.
What a waste… There was not intelligence in that decision. No Warren Buffet moment there. I am well-educated enough, in spite of, to be smart enough to know that the only reason the average citizen in this and other countries in the western world, suffer through their lives, is that they don’t utilize their time well enough. Instead of building something for themselves, they decide it is their duty to dedicate their entire productive years to serving another business owner to build up his wealth. That’s the purpose of formal education if anyone wants to know. It is to supply the needed human raw materials for governments and corporations of this world. Well, I went to Cambridge and London not end up in someone else’s house but to build my own house. Thank you very much.
What do you think the weak currency regime is for but to serve the competitive needs of exporters based in Malaysia. Who in their stupidity would set up a factory in Europe unless the European Union bars any non-European based company from selling their goods and services in Europe, eh? That’s what the EU is for. That’s what trade blocs are for. That’s what the Asean Free Trade Area was designed to be too. A weak Ringgit suits the MNCs in the country just fine in the 1990s onwards. Proton benefits too if anyone wonders. Well, at least that was the plan for Proton.
If a person is an employee and likes to stretch his salary to the maximum, then of course he would prefer a strong Ringgit, so he can vacation in Vegas and Disneyland during his two weeks annual leave. So he can send his kid to Australia for higher education.
Just remember, the government is there because of the economic needs of global corporations. The rest of the country benefit by working for them. That’s the way the world works. Just ask Tun.

Where were you when Ringgit used to exchanged RM1.10 to SGD1 in the 80s? Ringgit depreciated to RM1.50 vs SGD1 in the 90s and dropped to RM2.50 after 1997 Asia financial crisis. Ringgit depreciated again in 2015 from RM2.50 to RM3.05 where it is today. Ringgit is even depreciated 35% against Thai Baht and that is unthinkable decades ago. With the depreciation of Ringgit the income gap between Malaysia and developed countries is even wider. Foreign investors might hesitate to invest in Malaysia real estates, stocks and bonds if Ringgit is predicted to be weakening in the future. Country’s vision to be a developed nation will not be achievable if Ringgit is weak as GDP per capita is converted to USD.
Every year national audit reports show discrepencies, wastages, misappropriation of funds in govt agencies but no one is held responsible. The same mistakes keep on repeating yearly.

GLCs like MAS and Proton losing money every year and need taxpayers’ money to survive. Felda, Tabung Haji, Perwaja Steel, Bank Bumiputra, 1MDB all suffer financial loses. These financial scandals bring bad name to the country until some citizens are ashamed to admit they are Malaysians when in overseas.
You don’t have to be a PhD holder to think what govt can do with the missing funds and wastages. The large amount of money can be used in building schools, hospitals, clinics, roads, bridges, railways, airports, public houses that bring benefits to the people. With the money spent people will enjoy better infrastructure, education and healthcare that make Malaysia competitive. Poor Sabahan girl Veveonah didn’t have to climb up a tree to get better wifi signal in rural area.
I sometime wonder what you were doing with your higher education in UK and your level of thinking doesn’t show you are of that material.

To be fair to the government, or any government in the world for that matter, who the heck asks people to choose to work for others? The simple truth, wage negotiation always favor employers, not employees. That’s the capitalistic system everywhere. The idea of minimum wage anywhere in the world is to set the standard wage for workers so that they cannot ask for more, or to prevent employers outdoing one another to get the same workers. That’s the idea of minimum wage. Not to be misunderstood who it stands to gain for. The employers.
The common sense advise to disgruntled employees is they should stop working for others and use their energy to start their own business. That’s the only way to get out of permanent poverty or a miserable life of having to live month to month on meager salaries. I have not heard of anyone in the world who can retire a millionaire’s lifestyle just by working for others. May be the odd doctor or architect, but the even they are not considered rich. Just a little better than the rest of less-educated employed people.
The average Malaysian standard of living is definitely low compared to neighboring countries except Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. That’s due to a very low minimum or standard wage. Going up the employee ladder, it gets just a little better but not much. An accountant employed in someone’s company of course earns a bit more than the tea lady, because he deserves it after spending hundreds of thousands on getting his professional license, doesn’t he. But compared to what the company owner makes in profit after deducting his measly monthly accountant salary and other overheads, then one gets the overall picture of who actually can afford to live like a king.
That’s not the government’s fault. It’s not even the business owner’s fault. It is the fault of the person who chooses to work for others. That simple.

Rather than playing politics all the time, it would be better for MPs to focus on lifting the living standard of ordinary working Malaysians. The national minimum wage of RM1,200 per month is too low by world standard. For the country’s economic level, it is way too low. If foreigners are asked to work in Malaysia, many would not come here. For the Australians, British, Canadians, New Zealanders and South Koreans to agree to work here, they will ask for a minimum of RM6,000 salary per month. A little lower for the Americans and Japanese (RM4,000). Even Singaporeans would only agree to a minimum salary of RM2,500 to work here. The Thais (RM2,000), Indonesians and Filipinos (RM1,500) all receive higher salaries in their countries. Only the Vietnamese would see us as getting the same amount as themselves in Vietnam. The Bangladeshis would come if you give them at least RM200 per month, and the Indians RM600. Any wonder why there are a lot of Bangladeshis working in the country Tun(?)

1. Among the 111 MPs who voted for the 2021 Budget are those who currently face court charges for money laundering @ corruption and abuse of power. In fact the one who is making the most noise is a CONVICTED lawmaker.
2. DSN has been proven GUILTY in the court of law! It’s really embarrassing seeing a crook in the ‘Dewan Yang MULIA’. Such a pathetic situation…

If the Rule of Law is observed by all, public servants or otherwise, Malaysia would be a far different country today !
However, the Rule of the Law is not only applicable to overtly acts but also to invisible acts as befit people in positions of Power or influence.
I am referring to the many comments I made about the alleged wealthy Communal Middlemen Chinese Political Parties, MCA and the DAP. The wealth of the latter has been exposed via the media in recent times.
The former MCA Leaders made up a sizable list of wealthy denizens of the piece which is limited only to the 20th Century. Here is an example.
My fishmonger told me that a retired MCA Leader would order 10 biggest and best white pomfret and 15-20 kg. of ikan kurau from him every time.
We must not forget most Chinese tycoons and politicians claimed they were the poorest of the poor whose fathers were either wanton mee sellers, lorry drivers, storekeepers, rubber tappers, slum dwellers etc but no miners.
My father was a dish-washer in Towkay Loke Yew’s Sungei Besi kongsi in the 19th Century. A person cannot be poorer than this. I beat them all !
As we are near the end of an “Annus Horriblis” year with the words ‘money politics’ ringing loudly in our ears, it is time to take stock of the wealth of politicians especially the wealthy MCA Leaders of the 20th Century. The list is tabulated not according to chronology or the size of wealth order.
History is the finest arbiter of the Truth, thus :-
20th Century List of Wealthy MCA Leaders. 1957-1999.
1. He had the best mining lands next to the French Tekka mines, Kampar and a bank licence.
2. This leader had the gas tank monopoly, a bank purchased for RM 750,000, a Sabah Gas Utility construction contract, special density ratio for condos, 4 choice large pieces of Government lands, blocks of flats in Singapore. He could do his family business from his bedroom every night ! Mostly, these assets were acquired whilst in public office.
3. He had a share of a bank and built a corporate empire.
4. He grabbed the expired lease of the British Sungei Way mines.
5. He told me that by just sitting in the air-conditioned Exco for 20 years, he could make 20 million ringgits.
6. I saw him carrying a huge brief case enough to carry one million ringgits banknotes with the words emblazoned in large white lettering, ” YB Dato…..Executive Councillor, Selangor.” Was the intention to get through the Customs without an examination ?
7. For padding the construction contract of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, he was caught and became a diplomat. However, he was already rich as the first original political lobbyist in Malaya.
8. After only 8 years in the game, he could remit S$ 100 Million to his girl friend’s account in Hong Kong from Singapore via my friend. For conceptualizing my 1972 Sime Darby Concept to fast trek the Malays into big corporate business without jeopardizing the existing and future Chinese businesses which gave rise to IOI, Public Bank, KLK, Lion Group etc., he called me, ” a Malay bum sucker.” With this excuse and catchy phrase, he made all the money in quick time
9. This Leader is famous for share-rigging.
10. A portly ex-journalist could also garner an acid manufacturing monopoly.
11. Lucky fellow who retired with a RMAF spare parts monopoly.
12. A fellow given to quarreling with his brothers in Klang until he found a new profession by fronting for MCA political masters.
13 He shouted all over the shop that Singapore fulfilled their promise to him. China promised a finance company licence to him. In his zeal, he forgot he did take an oath of office before our Yang Di Pertuan Negara. What did he do for these countries ?
14. He owned the best properties in the exclusive districts of Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Tunku and Taman U Thant by the score. Not only that, in London as well. Rothschild was his banker.
15. As a minister, he should not have sticky fingers over the public allotment of shares of public listed companies. He retired early.
16. This fellow was a specialist in the fragmentation of rubber estates which gave rise to scores of unemployed workers.
17. Without a copper mine in his pocket, he would not be a politician.
18. He co-opted the money belonging to the co-operative societies.
19. He said,” You mind your own business. I mind mine ”
20. On retirement, he was the owner of a taxi empire of 18 taxi licences.
21. Suddenly, he stood beside me at an MCA dinner and shouted so all could hear him, ” They called us Toong Kok Mao. We fight. We fight.” Months later when the Bukit Tunku Residents Association called at his palatial Bukit Tunku mansion to seek his help to deter the encroachment of condo developers into the area. He could not be found.
Pertinent questions may now be asked on money politics.
How, when and who began it first ? Can we really blame the ‘johnny- come-lately’ of today ?
Are the alleged wealthy Communal Middlemen political parties MCA and DAP irrelevant and have outlived their usefulness due to their modus operandi of apparently fighting for the peaceful Chinese and said something different to the Government but kept something special for themselves leaving the 6 Million hapless Chinese to fend for themselves without any improvement in their livelihoods for decades ?
If the British in pre-Merdeka Malaya and pre-1997 Hong Kong could care for the Chinese better than by the Chinese themselves, the Malays can do the same job far better !
Therefore it is best for the Government to appoint talented Chinese directly from the 6 Million Chinese to be Ministers, Advisers, and to GLCs and by-pass the wealthy MCA and DAP which actually contributed to conflict and disunity amongst Malaysians and prevented progress and development of Malaysian Politics and UNITY.

Unfortunately Malaysia now has a reputation for being a corrupted third world country with little intellectual property ownership, an anti-icerd backwater with uncompetitive business practises. The one thing going for Malaysia is that it can fall back on oil, but how long can this last? Many educated Malays are choosing to reside in the UK or the US with such strong currencies and income … yet the ringgit and Malaysian incomes have fallen in Malaysia. When you compare Singapore or Japan with Malaysia , it’s absolutely no comparison…. corruption is the Malay choice because the majority seem to think the way things are run in Malaysia is the way the world seems to do it, which is absolutely not the case… I want to be proud of my place of birth but it is a complete embarrassment saying that I’m Malaysian…. Not sure what Tun meant by the current Sabah government as a backdoor government. Is Tun referring to the previous Warisan-led government that was in power as a result of a number of BN state assemblymen crossing over after the 2018 general/state elections? As far as I know, Sabah had just concluded a state elections a few months ago and the current Perikatan state government was voted in by the voters themselves. I didn’t know if Warisan had won the recent state elections and its state assemblymen crossing over to the current government. I might have missed it. That’s not possible as I voted together with the rest of the majority of Sabahans for the current government!

There are over 18,000 lawyers in the country.
They are categorised according to their seniority.
The Bar Council is purported to look after their interests. But there is no one to look after the interests of the Rakyat.
The Minister of Law is always placed in the PMO. Some of the predecessors were appointed as an after thought from some far away States. As a result, our beloved Malaysia’s essential laws like the Trustees Act 1949, the Bankruptcy Act 1967 and the Companies Act 1965 are out of date. Unlike Singapore, Hong Kong, UK and Australia where the Laws are treated seriously, up-dated regularly and under the aegis of a Senior Minister as the practice of the laws is a living thing in which each case is different due to the myriad of permutations of human behaviour. Unlike the practice of medicine where common ailments occur commonly. In other words, the practice of the laws is much more difficult than the practice of medicine but much easier to study than medicine !
To top this off, my late brother-in-law from King’s College London told me when I was young that lawyers can lie on either side with a smile. I returned his remark with a puzzled look. Here is my experience in our beloved Malaysia beginning 2002 – 2013.
1. I sued the Trustees of my father’s Estate for not releasing the accounts for a due diligence audit in April 2002 after 5 years of requests from me which they ignored. The first Judge said it was a Singapore Estate even though the Probate was granted by the Supreme Court Malaya in April 1949. He promptly retired. I won the Appeal. The second Judge said he would try the Suit. But after 3 years, he was promoted to the Federal Court Malaysia. The third Lady Judge said I should settle the matter outside the Court with the Trustees knowing full well that I tried but they ignored me for 5 years. The fourth Lady Judge said the same. the fifth Lady Judge told me that the Suit was too long and gave me a week to shorten it which I did. When I appeared before her a week later, she said the case was dismissed because she has been transferred to Shah Alam which she probably knew about 7 days earlier. Finally 8 years later from 2002, in 2010, the sixth Judge put a gun to the Defendants heads and told them he was ready for the trial of the case or they agree to a Consent Judgement which I won after 8 long years and the Defendants agreed in 5 minutes ! This is a very true story which cost the Estate RM 2 Million or more !
2. Again I sued the Trustees for failing to act according to the Will of my father. We appeared before a Lady Judge who ignored the 1982 Marriage Reform Act and accepted all the foreign legal advice submitted by the Defendants. I was put in the dock and made fun of. Whether my own lawyer was part of the caper or not, I am still uncertain. With this heavily biased scenario, I lost.
Some learned lawyers told me that nothing is certain about an outcome in the courts. But I can also say that the same may happen in other countries which could change their laws on the spot and not based on the Rules and Regulations of the High Court.
The best solution to all these nonsense is to avoid going to Court !

I am very surprised this comes from, of all person, you Tun.
Have you forgotten that it had always been “a court of law” Not “a court of justice”. Similarly a court is all about law and never about justice.
Law and justice are not always the same.
You should know that well enough from where you come from.
Furthermore, it’s the rich and powerful who get to write the laws. Never the ordinary or the poor. You can call that politics.
That’s another reason Politicians place themselves at the highest office in the Civil Service even though they may be idiots.

1. Undang-undang kerap di kaitkan dengan sebuah negara. Negara diisi dengan orang yang berkuasa (Raja,Menteri,Pegawai Penguatkuasa) dan yang tidak berkuasa (rakyat).
2. Ungkapan kebanyakan cerdik pandai mengatakan bahawa undang-undang dicipta dan dikuatkuasakan bukan untuk melindungi orang yang lemah sebaliknya diadakan untuk melindungi orang berkuasa dan kaya raya.
3. Kepada yang lemah perkara salah dikatakan salah dan wajib di tangkap dan dijatuhkan hukum. Sebaliknya kalau orang berkuasa atau kaya jika melakukan perkara salah sama seperti yang dilakukan oleh rakyat biasa, mereka akan dibicara dan sebolehh-bolehnya dikehendaki pendakwa membuktikan kesalahan kesalahan tersebut ketahap tanpa ada apa-apa kerguan sekalipun.
4. Ini menyebabkan perbicarasn berlangsung hingga berbulan dan malah ada sehingga bertahun-tahun yang akhirnya kalau pihak pendakwa tidak cukup kewangan kes tersebut akan akhir tinggal begitu sahsja.
5. Contoh, seorang yang didapati mencuri roti kerana miskin papa kedana tak ada duit untuk membeli, tetapi keadaan mendesak kerana anak dirumah sangat kelaparan dan jika tidak diberi makan berkemungkinan boleh menyebabkan kematian. Pelaku ini mudah saja ditangkap, dibicara mahkamah dan jatuhkan hukum denda atau ditahan dalam penjara.
6. Sebaliknya seorang Perdana Menteri mencuri duit dari tabungan simpanan rakyat dibicarakan kerajaan berbulan-bulan lamanya dan akhirnya didapati bersalah dan dijatuhkan hukuman penjara 70 tahun yang kemudian dikurangkan kepada 12 tahun sahaja serta denda Rm 210 juta.Oleh kerana Orang Salah ini seorang yang kaya lagi sangat berkuasa Orang Salah ini tidak terus dimasukkan dalam penjara tetapi dibenarkan bebas hanya dengan membayar wang jaminan RM 1 juta sebagai jaminan sehingga menunggu hari bicara rayuan kes.
7.Ini sangat tidak patut dan menzalimi orang salah kerana mencuri sebuku roti untuk beri makan anak yang kebuluran.
8. Satu lagi kes adalah berkenaan dakwaan harta Ablen Ibram Hamid (AIH) orang Melayu warga Negara Malaysia sendiri yang dilapurkan oleh Neil Keenan seperti pautan berikut:

11. Sebagai Negarawan dihormati oleh lawan dan kawan di seluruh dunia adalah diharapkan masalah AIH ini berada dalam perhatian TUN. Eloklah perkara ini dapat diusahakan penyelesaiaannya sebaik mungkin. Selamatkanlah mana yang boleh tetapi kalau sudah tidak boleh serahkan sahajs kepada ketentuan Allah.
12. Ungkapan Hang Tuah “Melayu tak akan hilang di dunia selagi mereka beriman dan islam”. Andainya tidak bersedialah kita semua menghadapi kemurkaan Allah khususnya kepada Kepala-kepala yang mengaku menjadi tonggak kepada agama islam. Mudah-mudahan Allah jaukan segala bencana dari menimpa kita.
