THE TRAGEDY OF LIBYA

1. One is always shocked when someone one knows suffers a tragic end. Maybe for the enemies of Gaddafi, he deserves what he got. But that does not lessen my sadness over the manner of his demise.

2. As Prime Minister I met Gaddafi several times. He was always hospitable. Much of my time with him was spent in answering questions explaining about Malaysia. He seemed to want to learn about developing a country. I believe he wanted to do the same for Libya.

3. In his early years he had plans for improving the lives of the Libyans. He, it was, who initiated the irrigation of the fertile coastal areas through building the great artificial river. A Korean contractor undertook the job, building a huge pipeline to carry underground water from the distant interior to huge tank storage farms and then to irrigate the land.

4. I was much impressed by this project. Obviously he cared enough for his country and people to do this. But beyond that nothing much was done. Despite huge revenues from oil exports the country remained poorly developed. The people were relatively poor for a country with huge oil reserves.

5. The Western press reported about his alleged cruelty against his detractors and enemies. But I have always been leery of the Western press. According to them I am also a great dictator who imprisoned hundreds of my political enemies. I know this is not true. And so I discounted much of the western press reports about Gaddafi.

6. But he was certainly deficient in understanding the purpose of Government. He had no real plan for developing his country and prospering his people. He did not travel much to see how the other countries were developing. But his house where my wife and I had lunch with him and his wife was no palace. It was not even luxurious.

7. Most of the time he was reclusive and after the western attempt to kill him, he feared for his life. He met visitors in a tent in a walled compound.

8. I do not know about the cruelties perpetrated by him or his people. During his retreat recently I did not read about his prisoners being liberated or mass graves of the victims of his cruelty. Maybe these will be discovered later.

9. In war cruelty is to be expected. In fact war legitimises cruelty, including killings. Still to see the cruelty, the killing inflicted on someone you know, shocks and saddens you.

10. I am saddened by the killing of Gaddafi. He should be arrested and tried for his crime. But I know that is not the way today. Osama bin Laden was also executed by the United States’ soldiers. There are contracts made by “civilised democratic” Governments on several people as there were in the past I fear the fate of Gaddafi will befall others who fail to see the writing on the wall. The powerful, with vested interest in a regime change will ensure that this will happen. They have much to gain.

11. I hope and pray that Libya will get a good Government after this, headed by leaders who truly believe in good Government, who will be prepared to lose in clean elections which will not be manipulated.

  1. Every 4 years I have been diligently voted for BN hoping that the the country will bring prosperity to its people but instead what am I witnessing, the poor citizen get poorer the politician get richer. You cannot wrap fire with paper, sooner or later thing get exposed and this is exactly what our people is witnessing today. NFC cow scandal, Minister are getting privileges using public funds of RM250 mil without literally having to pay unless the whole lump sum of RM250 mil is completely drawn down what pretty good arrangement; You can still have a balance of RM1 and still not qualify to pay for the loan. Now, somebody is driving a Merc and purchasing condos without having to pay any installments. While we, citizen, have to pay for the car and house we buy or risk being repossess. MACC and Police is corrupted reprimanding the agent and not the mastermind eventhough he admitted giving to the agent for the intended criminal purpose. PM and DPM cannot act because they in the same spot. Had it not been for the opposition, I suppose Rosmah would have brought the RM70 million diamond ring. Its shocking and I am disappointed with all these years of trust I have placed on the BN government to realize that gradually all these abuses and corruptions are slowly surfacing. I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope you, Tun, should use your skillful talent to bring this government out of the doldrums otherwise at the end of the day there is nothing to save anymore. With the huge resources we have how come until today we can’t see the citizen living off better than our neighbors. I am a senior citizen still have to struggle to make end meets. I am not able to enjoy the wealth of the country but I know my grandchildren are already in debts. Is there still any hope for us citizen.

  2. Tun
I am extremely frustrated with the corruptions and abuses in the country. The enforcement institutions POLICE and MACC are committing a corrupting act by selective reprimanding perpetrator and slow, delay in reacting in respect to the NFC bribery scandal. The main perpetrator (Salleh) was not reprimanded for investigation while the agent (Shamsubinin) was swiftly reprimanded. The facts are so clear that both are guilty in this corrupting act; the mastermind admitted paying the agent RM2 mil to resolve NFC scandal problem but after the attempt fail he lodged a Police report that he was swindled and agent swiftly got reprimanded. People in the Ministry are now digging into the zakat coffer for their own selfish need but yet the MACC and Police cannot sees it and act. This is abusing the entrusted money meant for the poor. Here, you are so busying commenting of foreign interference into other country business and sympathies with the manner Ghadafi died. Common! we like you to comment more on the state of the country, corruption and abuses under Najib. Najib and Mahyuddin are the poorest choice in the Malaysian history, PM and DPM. There are both not the GURU crab to guide their lieutenant to walk straight because both of them have problems, like Shahrizat said it “which UMNO members don’t have their problem. Toyo got 1 year for the hundreds of millions he embezzled, while another guy for RM60,000.00ish got 5 years and TBH for merely accused of abusing RM2,000.00ish got the “death sentence”. Common! dont tell me this is another opposition political ploy when the facts are so obvious.

  3. Gary is worrying 1 too many!
Yes, Malaisie do have oil and gas – in fact the natural gas is more than the Arabs do; but in the area where territorial disputes are known and acknowledged.

The situation won’t be good for ASEAN and Malaisie if Malaisie were to be ATTACK-ed for oil; it would imply that the government of the day has done something which would have greatly threaten the region and ASEAN have failed. Even when Malaisie should become another Iran, she won’t be attacked – Indonesia will not allow it.

However, to topple a government by her own people thru agents unknown that would be more cause to worry.

But not for oil; and not because Malaisie is the Halal-toyibban Islamic banking&finanace Hub in the world.

Malaisie is the pivot. You do not attack the pivot unless you want to destroy the equilibrium and the region. No, not attack from outside.

More like the explosion of PATI!

  4. Dear Tun,

I worry about 1 matter…Now seem that oil rich country been attack for all kind of reasons. How about Malaysia itself status…
    We still have oil right?

  5. Hi Tun,

I think his legacy will be left for people to decide. I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, as a politician, no good can be measured against freedom. I strongly believe that no money or prosperity or education in the world can be swapped with freedom. He may have done good, so has Hitler. But it still comes down to the most basic principles of humanity. If you denied that of your people, no good can measure up to it. Thanks,.

  6. Hello Dr.M
I had read this article in the “www.truthdig.com” and I have attached this for the information of other fellow readers. I hope Tun will permit to be shared this accordingly.

“Blasting dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s troops and installations from above with unmanned drone aircraft may or may not be the right thing to do”

If it is the right thing to bomb an administration that has delivered the following:

Since 1969 when Gadhafi took power in a bloodless coup:

    * The Libyan economy has become the best performing in Africa and has, from time to time, outperformed developed countries such as Italy, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and New Zealand. Every citizen receives a dividend, paid into their bank account from the State Oil Industry.

    * The literacy rate has gone from 20% to the highest in North Africa; over 82% .

    * Education is free and compulsory up to secondary level.

    * Universities and higher technical and vocational institutes have gone from zero to 84 (with 12 public universities). Higher education is funded by the State. 1.7 million of 6.4 million Libyans are students.

    * Healthcare for every citizen is free, including travel for procedures not available in Libya.

    * Crime.
    Incarceration: 173 per 100,000 people (U.S. 743 incarcerated per 100,000)
    Murder: 2.2 per 100,000 people (U.S. 5.5 per 100,000)

    * Agriculture
25-30% of State expenditure goes to Agricultural projects aimed at freeing Libya from its dependence on imported food.

    * No-one is homeless in Libya. Nobody.

….. At what point should NATO begin bombing for regime change in the U.S.?

  7. Salam, Tun. I’m very happy you’ve came up with something about Libya now that the NATO is being filed for thousands of war crimes led by the blood thirsty Obama, Sarkozy, and Cameron.

Joashe is right in everything. When the Al-Qaeda rebels (FACT and admitted by rebel commander themselves in interviews) backed by NATO who started bombing civilians, water supplies, hospitals, schools etc, I went debating about this many months ago; in one of the biggest Malaysian forums forum.lowyat.net, they even DELETED my thread, it mysteriously disappeared as viewers grew. It was titled LIBYA THAT YOU DON’T KNOW.

Not only did NATO reject Ghadaffi’s proposal to send a fact finding mission, they also deny a free election, and installed the Al-Qaeda NTC as legitimate rulers of Libya. BTW, maybe many of you don’t know this but Ghadaffi left all official posts in 1979 and Libya was governed purely by the people — the Jamahiriya. What dictatorship? One can easily find videos of everyone in Tripoli in July 1 coming out to condemn NATO’s continuous bombing of innocent people, and everyone shuts up and stops debating with me when they see the true support they see conflicts with reports you see by the always-lying CNN, BBC, and al-Jazeera.

I will not talk any further, people around the world are opening their eyes to the lies and war crimes by NATO and al-Qaeda. I will end this by an excerpt from Ghadaffi’s book.

(Translated by Professor Sam Hamod, Ph.D.

Recollections of My Life: Col. Mu’ummar Qaddafi, The Leader of the Revolution. April 5, 2011.

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful…

For 40 years, or was it longer, I can’t remember, I did all I could to give people houses, hospitals, schools, and when they were hungry, I gave them food. I even made Benghazi into farmland from the desert, I stood up to attacks from that cowboy Reagan, when he killed my adopted orphaned daughter, he was trying to kill me, instead he killed that poor innocent child. Then I helped my brothers and sisters from Africa with money for the African Union.

I did all I could to help people understand the concept of real democracy, where people’s committees ran our country. But that was never enough, as some told me, even people who had 10 room homes, new suits and furniture, were never satisfied, as selfish as they were they wanted more. They told Americans and other visitors, that they needed “democracy” and “freedom” never realizing it was a cut throat system, where the biggest dog eats the rest, but they were enchanted with those words, never realizing that in America, there was no free medicine, no free hospitals, no free housing, no free education and no free food, except when people had to beg or go to long lines to get soup.

No, no matter what I did, it was never enough for some, but for others, they knew I was the son of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the only true Arab and Muslim leader we’ve had since Salah-al-Deen, when he claimed the Suez Canal for his people, as I claimed Libya, for my people, it was his footsteps I tried to follow, to keep my people free from colonial domination – from thieves who would steal from us.

Now, I am under attack by the biggest force in military history, my little African son, Obama wants to kill me, to take away the freedom of our country, to take away our free housing, our free medicine, our free education, our free food, and replace it with American style thievery, called “capitalism,” but all of us in the Third World know what that means, it means corporations run the countries, run the world, and the people suffer. So, there is no alternative for me, I must make my stand, and if Allah wishes, I shall die by following His path, the path that has made our country rich with farmland, with food and health, and even allowed us to help our African and Arab brothers and sisters to work here with us, in the Libyan Jamahiriya.

I do not wish to die, but if it comes to that, to save this land, my people, all the thousands who are all my children, then so be it.

Let this testament be my voice to the world, that I stood up to crusader attacks of NATO, stood up to cruelty, stood up to betrayal, stood up to the West and its colonialist ambitions, and that I stood with my African brothers, my true Arab and Muslim brothers, as a beacon of light. When others were building castles, I lived in a modest house, and in a tent. I never forgot my youth in Sirte, I did not spend our national treasury foolishly, and like Salah-al-Deen, our great Muslim leader, who rescued Jerusalem for Islam, I took little for myself…

In the West, some have called me “mad”, “crazy”, but they know the truth yet continue to lie, they know that our land is independent and free, not in the colonial grip, that my vision, my path, is, and has been clear and for my people and that I will fight to my last breath to keep us free, may Allah almighty help us to remain faithful and free.

  10. joashe

I saw those facts online. And it is fair to say that some are untrue. Because if indeed those facts are true, shit wont happen to Gaddaffi. Its either that or Libyans are a bunch of douchebags.

In those facts are true, think of Libya being Brunei. Being ruled by one guy, small country, small population, oil-dependent. No one is revolting in Brunei because Bruneians are rich. In Libya, they are poor, limited freedom and partly because they have AKs.

Besides, its the people of Libya who choose to overthrow him. It has nothing to do with the West. Yes they did make Libya a target practice with their JDAMs. The West needs a new target practice. They cant just willy-nilly bomb Iran now. I mean, they did offer the West to come in and bomb their country. So i guess it was bombing with consent.

I do sympathise with Gaddafi but he should know at hindsight that this was going to happen.

  12. thank you respected Tun for writing this article.i very much want to know your opinion on this issue.i second your opinion on the rights to be put on trial,no matter how bad the accusations might be.
we are definitely not libyans and we don’t really know what is actually going on there apart from what we read and what is shown to us by the media which is largely influenced by the Western media. We must admit that we do not know the exact reliability of those manipulative media and how much twist have they put in the story in order to fit their interest,to make their side to look good and the other party to look bad.we have been reading in newspapers since few months ago that France had been trying to interfere with the crisis in Libya with the support of NATO.They were even willing to supply weapons and armies in order to ‘resolve’ the issue over there. Why have they taken so much interest in Libya?Do they really care about the Libyans or do they have some other agenda?I heard that Gaddafi was planning to use gold coins as the official currency for oil trade which gave shivers to countries which depended on libya for oil but with limited resources, like gold(and oil).
Some questioned Tun’s motive shaking hands with ‘dangerous’ leaders like gaddafi and so forth,i’d say the questioner has a very shallow mind.If Tun didn’t do so,is he able to come out with this article?he says something because he has the knowledge about it and he opined based on what he had actually seen and experienced.and Tun is definitely is not an a$$-kisser who’ll blindly accept the help of outsiders who tried to interfere with our matters and will not bow to some Western power like the leaders of our neighbouring countries.that’s why western press didn’t write good things about him like they did to Lee Kuan Yew.What’s wrong with glowing tributes from local newspaper if he deserves it?
i think that the moral of this story is that we as the citizens of malaysia should not be easily influenced by negativity and never ever let outsiders to interfere with our business.

  13. As our former Prime Minister, you have achieved several mega projects in your tenure of 22 years. For that, many Malaysians love you. If you are given another 19 years to be in office officially, what are your planned projects ? Because Gaddafi was in power for 41 years. His country remains poor. His people remain divided. Reading the comments, a lot said that it is the doings of foreigners and outsiders. But think for a while. If he was great, he should have done something. He would have had projects to show off to the world. He might even be able to escape a death sentence or have a more respectable death sentence like Saddam, Osama and others in the same category. The way he died is a reflection of what he did to his own people and to his own nation. Do not do to others what you do not wants others to do to you. Do to others what you want others to do to you. Conditional. If Gaddafi had even tried to do something good, he did not have to die that way. No respect. Being beaten. Being scolded. Being cursed. Being kicked around. Being dragged around. And nobody really bothered. There were three groups surrounding him on that fateful day. It was like they played him like a ragged doll because they all knew that he had to go that day. It was just that they wanted him to experience and to know all the hatred, the anger, the bitterness, the unforgiveness they had for him. They wanted him to have it all before he go.

  14. Dearest Tun

1-Ghaddafi kicked out king Idris and took over to be the new king of Libya. The libyans did not chose him.He usurped power through the power invested in him by the king.He is a military man not an economist or a politician.

2-But he wants to fight the West that wants his country’s resources very badly. He shouldn’t have. You can’t fight the the most powerful people in the world and get away.Saddam didn’t get way.Nobody does, usually.

3-If he had wanted to hit at the West effectively he should have emulated Tun Mahathir.First and foremost you need a real democratic support of your people first. After that come the brains, lots of em.Then you need super great wisdom.

4-Last not least you need God to help you. This you will get only when you are a virtuous man.

    Thanks Tun

  15. Respected Dr. Mahathir, A.O.A.
When we talk about systems, I feel, we are fighting just for dishes regardless of food served therein. we never care what kind of food is being served in the dishes. How long will it last?

  16. Assalamualaikum Tun,

It is clear the Libyan tragedy is a great loss to the Ummah. Whether you are pro Gaddafi, or are with the oppositions, both are Muslims, and both sustained heavy losses. The true winners in this tragedy are the United States and the West.

I too am sad on the death of Gaddafi. Whatever wrong he has done, he should be tried accordingly for his crime and not simply murdered in cold blood. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.

Looking at the bigger picture, it seems all the big brothers of the Islamic world i.e the ones with military might are falling one by one. First it was Iraq, then Afghanistan, and now Libya. In the game of chess, it is always better to take out the stronger ones first. The weaker ones will simply follow and submit.

It is really sad to see the state of the Muslim countries nowadays. I don’t blame the people, but more on the Muslim leaders. Some Muslim countries think if they keep quite and don’t interfere and remain allies with the US, their country would be spared.

The latest drama is when Iran is accused of trying to assassinate a Saudi ambassador. There was no evidence, no court of law to validate this accusation. Suddenly the Saudi simply believe the US that Iran is masterminding this assassination attempt?

How low have the Muslims gone to believe the US, the same country that lied about Iraq has WMDs, the same country that killed hundred of thousands of Muslims, the same country that solidly support Israel financially and militarily, the same country whose Congress are all supporters of Israel, the same country that threatened to veto the Palestinians right to be recognised as country in the UN, over Iran, a fellow Muslims country, without any shred of evidence whatsoever?

Do these Muslims think their country will be spared if they sided with the US?

Never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with thee unless thou follow their form of religion. Say: “The Guidance of Allah,-that is the (only) Guidance.” Wert thou to follow their desires after the knowledge which hath reached thee, then wouldst thou find neither Protector nor helper against Allah. (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 120)

From the Al-Quran we know that the only way for the Saudis or any other Muslim leaders the be true allies of the US and Israel, is if they converted their religion and follow them completely.

I would say the last of the Muslim country with military might is Iran. That is why the US is asking for greater sanction on Iran. That is why they are staging this assassination and having nuclear weapons story. The same method was used for Iraq (WMD and Al-Qaeda story), Afghanistan (Osama bin Laden was there story).

They would sanction economically the country first, so as to weaken it, then attack it to topple the government and replace it with one that supports them.

Iran must fall in their scheme for a new world order.

Once Iran fall, there will be no other Islamic country strong enough to fight the US or the Israel in the Middle East. The other Muslim leaders will become mere puppets and forced to follow what Israel and US wants as they have no military power.

Therefore, it is of up most importance that the ummah remain united and help your fellow brethren countries. The wolves are already outside, taking out each of the Muslims countries, one by one. Please do not be blind as to what is happening.

  17. Salam TUN,

The West’s favourite pasttimes is, as sheriff of the world.
Their pasts are peppered with violences, The Wild Wild West and Civil Wars.Killing is a norm.
Their addiction to killings of human beings remain till today.
Now,the killing theatre is not in their homeland, but around the world.
As super power ,the world has become their chess board.
Installing and dismantling sovereign countries by deceit to their whimps and fancies in term of check and balance to stabilise the regions.
They even raped words like collateral damages and democracy to justify it means in false pretence to create wars.
Their addiction to oil as admitted by past President decided the fate of Libya.
This time around, the lead role is taken over by their buddies, they lay inwait coverting as planners.

    Dear Tun,

Alhamdulillah, I have been reading your blog for the last few years and I find your analysis and comments on the unfolding of events in the world interesting. In my opinion, you have contributed immensely not only to Malaysia, but also to Asean, OIC and other world organizations in which you were involved in. The Perdana Global Peace conference initiated by your goodself is a very good idea. Malaysians and the rest of the Muslim Ummah should support this movement. Tun, it’s about time that we should call for one more conference to highlight what is happening in the Middle East. (maarji2020)

    AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN,
    Izinkan,

    Salam kasih sayang sdr. Joashe
Thank you for the post on October 30, 2011 at 11:33 pm

We find it hard to believe that a leader who comfort his people FIRST before his families wud be crazy to kill or maimed the people he cared for.. unless those killed were ‘agents’ of the West and a threat to the national security and the Gaddafi’s visions/missions… ie. to ‘free’ Libya and Africa from Western imperialism and the creation of a United States of Africa with a common currency unit… the Gold Dinar!

Surely, the USA, the Jew pariahs and their Nato allies won’t allow the gold dinar to replace their ‘paper’ currencies which may deemed ‘useless’ for international trades with the Africans and the Muslim world… in short, they will be made BANKRUPT!

So what better way to kill two birds with a stone… get those dumb Libyans to do their dirty jobs!

…and sadly, there are D.U.M.Bs ( Deranged Useless Mental Blockheads) in our midst who rejoiced the death of a man who visioned a free and united Africa and initiate of the gold based currency unit but are ‘blinded’ by the evils of the West which remain very much visible even in total darkness!

May Allah Swt bless the souls of Muammar Gaddafi and the Libyans (on both sides) who died in the uprising..

    Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

    ALFATIHAH, AMIN
Ps. They nearly destroyed our Ayahanda Tun Vision using the Reformasi Movement. Remember?
Thanks to the Almighty Allah swt, the majority Rakyat of this beloved country are GRATEFUL and PEACE LOVING citizens..

  22. Mr. Mahathir, with heartfelt respect,
Our Muslim politicians want to rule forever but don’t want to learn how to. Justice and wisdom and self-criticism haven’t even touched them. They never educate their peoples to win self-sufficiency, prosperity, freedom, and height of self-respect. Finally they (Rulers) leave this world and worldly powers as rotten rulers and never come to unforgettable Leaders whom History always remember.

Let love sleeps and do not stir up love

II. Old Soldiers Never Die, Muammar
(the perfect death of the last of the desert samurai)

Of thoughts Mahathir: you have written the Tragedy of Libya with a sad heart; but even in sadness, we must be lucid in our thoughts and our actions. The tragedy if you must call it of the lost of Muammar is still up in the air, for I say the jury is still out. The wound is still fresh.

There are those who love him and there are those who wanted him dead when he was still alive. Muammar he knew that. Muammar is an old brave soldier, Muammar was a fighter to the end. He fought his battles to the last drop of his blood. He had wanted a brilliant death; he knew this could well happen: a shot to the head just like what they allowed to happen to Osama.

Indeed, Muammar’s demise is a tragic end; but his passing is not yet to be deemed a tragedy of Libya. There is the surviving family of Muammar that now begs the dispensing of justice in post-Gaddafi Libya. There will be wounds to heal.

It can only be a tragedy this Tragedy of Libya – and all other countries – whose people have known you and looked up to you when they refused to believe that you can help make a great change to their lives when they know that you are still very much alive. The tragedy is when they say they love you and respect you when the truth is they will not accept you into their homes and walk amongst them for they refuse to believe in their hearts that you are still able to show them how to bring up their nation and their countries more than any other Muslim can. The tragedy is when they say they love you but they do not know what love is really, Dr Mahathir.

Neither did they know Muammar nor do they know you; and yet they say they love Muammar and they love you. That is the tragedy. They hurt themselves and know not the cure; and yet they cried out: For the likes of Dr Mahathir!

Let love sleeps and do not stir up love
for love shall awaken when love pleases

It will be a tragedy when you allow a tragic end her tragic ways
for Muammar knew well that you would still be around
and Saif Al-Islam will still have us.

  27. Salam Tun and fellow bloggers,
    1. The enemies of Islam had proven to us again that they rule the world – US and other western countries.
    2. Remember when azizah announced to everybody ‘tengok, orang putih pun ada..’ she referred to mat salleh from western countries who came to listen to her
    3. So, its not difficult for the enemies of Islam to do their jobs, because they have people who will start the trouble…just like the people of Libya (obviously those from the opposition group) who are eager to get rid of late Gadaffi. Pay them, give them weapons, back them with nato attacks, what else?
    4. I supposed someone here will try to do the same thing..bring in the enemies of Islam to change the PM, so he will take over.
    5. Why do you think Bersih was organized?

  28. SALAM KASIH DAN SAYANG
    AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN,
    Izinkan,

    Salam kasih sayang sdr. Joashe
Thank you for the post on October 30, 2011 at 11:33 pm

We find it hard to believe that a leader who comfort his people FIRST before his families wud be crazy to kill or maimed the people he cared for.. unless those ‘killed’ were agents of the West and a threat to the nation security and the Gaddafi’s visions/missions… ie. to ‘free’ Libya and Africa from Western imperialism and the creation of a United States of Africa with a common currency unit… the Gold Dinar!

…and sadly, there are D.U.M.Bs ( Deranged Useless Mental Blockheads) in our midst who rejoice the ‘death’ of the man who dream of a United Africa and the initiation of the gold based currency unit but like are blinded ( like mules) by the evils of the West which remain very much alive in broad daylight!

Remember!
Thanks to the Almighty Allah swt, the majority Rakyat of this beloved country are GRATEFUL and PEACE LOVING citizens..

  30. Salam Alikom Tun,
Dengan izin Tun I wish to refer to your blog of last month on 9/11.
The Arab Spring would certainly jolt the Perpetrators of 9/11. Bush B*****rd, Liar Blair, Dying Sharon and all their cronies have wasted too much money, sending their soldier’s to heaven including outright lying in United Nation to finally kill Saddam Hussein. Military expenditures after 9/11 is still counting fast before any last foreign soldier leave Iraq.
We don’t need Bush and Blair to lie to the world. All we need is just a policeman asking for a bribe from a poor trader in Tunisia to start a regime change in the Arab States. I am sure if Saddam is still alive he will be the next candidate to go.
The lesson learn from the Arab Spring is just too easy to understand….The Arabs must show similar unity in tackling the Jewish State!!
Meantime, can the neighboring army of Syria and Yemen provide assistance just like the quell in Bahrain? Enough is enough, Al Jazeera News should minimize or even stop their broadcasting news from Syria and Yemen, instead, put more focus on independent Palestine.

Thank You Tun for having this blog and be my PM.

  31. it is now whether we are a christian, moslem, or any other. It is about humanity and the politics of it. Liyba is just another case of how the WEST was WON. The special interest groups will never stop till the get the world upon their feet. The free press is just a tool to justify and manifest their intentions and actions. read http://www.huffingtonpost.com/col-cedric-leighton/qaddafi-dead_b_1029103.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

will the rest of the world waits till the utter destruction of mother earth before they finally rise agaist the emperors that seek to control her?

Its time to say NO to war….n give PEACE a chance.

  32. YABhg Tun,

What have we learn from all this….???
It’s okey to kill in the name of Democracy!!!!
And, most importantly….you are with the US & Nato..!!!

  33. With GST not only the foreign workers pay tax, Malaysians pay more taxes. We should not only be paying so much and many type of taxes. Why GST when almost (90+%) of all things in Malaysia already kena high tax. Are we paying double taxation? Singapore have GST but a simply thing like apple and oranges is cheaper. Thailand have VST but their Japanese Rest. food is cheaper. Why ???

We common Malaysian have Petronas but we don’t have the benefit of enjoying it as all the income channel into a few pockets only. Even Libyans enjoy a few good things from their oil income. Everything tax but where is the service to the tax payers? Why Govt need employ so many people to do so little things and best dare to say openly their are not capable and unsuitable and then engage a consultant or contractor to do the actual work . What a joke.

  34. TUN LEERY OF WESTERN PRESS IS NOT JUST LEERY
IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DANGEROUS THREAT,IDENTIFIED
    AN INSTRUMENT OF DESTRUCTIONS
FAR MOST BRUTAL THAN CHEMICAL WEAPONS.
IT IS A WEAPONS USED BY UNITED STATES,

Al Fatihah utk Allahyarham Muamar Gaddafi…AL-FATIHAH.

  37. IT IS NATO DECISION
    THEIR BRUTAL DESIRES
TO LET THE WORLD SEE GADAFFI KILLED
IN A BRUTAL AND HUMULIATED MANNER BY THE REBELS.

NATO CAN INSTRUCT THE REBELS NOT TO KILLED GADAFFI
AND BRING HIM TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE OF THE US ACCUSATIONS AGAINST GADAFFI.
NATO KNOWS THEY CANNOT PROOF OF GADAFFI GUILT AS
MUCH AS THEY CANNOT PROOF OF IRAQ WEAPONS OF MASS
    DESTRUCTIONS TILL TODAY.
MRS CLINTON ANNOUNCES THE DESIRES OF GADAFFI DEATH
    DAYS BEFORE GADAFFI WAS KILLED.
THAT INDICATES NATO IS AWARE OF THE SITUATIONS
THEY ARE IN CONTROL,THEY HAVE THE VOICE,
THEY HAVE THE COMMAND YET THEY DECIDES OTHERWISE.

AS MUCH OF TUN LEERY OF THE WESTERN PRESS
I AM MUCH MUCH LEERY AND (GELI) STRONG MALAY WORDS HA, OF NATO FACTS AND BUSHSHIT.
    BUSH IS THE TRIGGER.

  38. gosh..this is horrible..HOW & WHAT is the way to help Islam nowadays?? anak2 muda di malaysia majoritinya sudah rosak. Rosak yg dmaksudkan ialah dr semua aspek (sosial n jiwa n hati adlah yg plg rosak). Bukan cakap kosong tp tgk skeliling anda, pasti ia adalah perkara yg benar & sedang berlaku.
    macam mana?

  39. Salam,

Little is known about what Gadafi had done for Libya. Not the same can be said for Malaysian leaders. Among them are:
    1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.
    2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.
    3. A Home is considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s his wife and his mother are still living in a tent.
    4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$50,000 ) from the government to buy their first apartment so as to help start up the family.
    5. Education and medical treatment are free in Libya.
    6. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.
    7. Should Libyans want to take up farming, they would receive farming land, a farm house, equipment, seeds and livestock to kick- start their farms– all for free.
    8. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US $2,300/mth, accommodation and a car allowance.
    9. In Libya, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidizes 50% of the price.
    10. The price of petrol in Libya is $0.14 per liter.
    11. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally.
    12. If a Libyan is unable to get employment upon graduation, the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.
    13. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens.
    14. A mother who gives birth to a child receives US $5 ,000
    15. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $0.15
    16. 25% of Libyans have a university degree
    17. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.

So is he really a villian?

  40. I am not sure if it possible to give Gadaffi or Osama a fair trial when they fought back furiously with all they had.

There was a window period when Gadaffi were given a chance to surrender but of course one can argue it was a certain that he wld not accept surrender, thus, his execution without trial is expected.

If Gadaffi indeed is good to his people he shd attempt to fight through election instead of arms. Maybe he is used to getting his ways through force. On the other hand, maybe he fear that he wld be executed without a fair chance of election.

I am doubtful that Gadaffi is not spending luxuriously for his personal interest since you mentioned Libya people are poor. So where did all the oil money go if not for the people and he himself is not using it? Math is not working somewhere.

War is not good but Gadaffi seem to me is not without blame.

I wish people think fairly, neither favour the western world nor favour Islam unjustly. I see a great religion Islam to be not in need of unfair support. If people attempt to support Islam just because you are a muslim and neglect justification it wld only make us blind.

Say and comment with truth in your heart and uphold justice. If Islam is right truth shall prevail god willing.

  41. Dearest YAB & diKasihi Tun,

It was a sad ending for Muammar Gaddafi. He was executed just like that.

Agak mengaibkan cara beliau diperlakukan di penghujung hayat beliau. Saya turut berasa sedih melihat beliau diperlakukan sedemikian rupa.

    Thanks Tun.

*** May Allah SWT bless Tun and family ***

  42. MY MUSLIMS BROTHER
    ASSALAMUALAIKUM,
ALLAH HU AKHBAR,ALLAH HU AKBAR !

    WE HAVE DIFFERANCES AMONG BROTHERS.
    YES WE HAVE.
DOES IT MEAN WE SHOULD TOPPLE AMONG BROTHERS.
    WE CANNOT ENEMY AMONG BROTHERS.

THE TRUE SATANS,OUR TRUE ENEMY IS THOSE WE WANT TO SEE US DIVIDED,THOSE WHO DESIRE TO SEE US DETROYING OURSELVES.
    THESE ARE UNITED STATES,BRITAIN,FRANCE
USING THE UMBRELLA OF THE UNITED NATIONS.
THESE ARE BUSH ADMINISTRATIONS,LED BY NATO, SUPPORTED BY EUROPE.
EUROPE IS CRUMBLING OF ECONOMIC STRENGHT
    OF THEIR NATURAL RESOURCES.
    THEY ARE LOSING ECONOMIC COMPETITION.
    THEY NEED TO ROB, NOW.

THE FRUIT IS OIL , POLITICAL INFLUENCES
AT THE EXPENSE OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENTS,WOMEN,BABIES,ELDERLY.
    OUR MUSLIMS BROTHER.

BRO,ARE U LISTENING TO ME BRO.

IDENTIFY OUR TRUE ENEMY WHO DESIRES TO SEE US DIVIDED.
WE MUST UNITE NOW, QUARREL AMONG OURSELF LATER
WHEN MUM N DAD IS NOT AROUND.
WE HAVE HYENA WAITING OUTSIDE OUR HOMES WAITING FOR OUR DEAD BODY.

WE FIGHT OUR ENEMY OF WHAT WE HAVE
    AGAINST WHAT THEY HAVE.
OUR SPIRIT,OUR UNITY, AGAINST THEIR GREED,
    THEIR EVIL INTENTIONS

OUR FLESH AND BLOODS AGAINST THEIR ARMOURED TANKS
    MAKES SENSE, DEFINITELY NO,HAHA
BUT IF GOD WILL WE CAN

    WE JUST NEED TO UNITE
MUST NOT ALLOW UNITED NATIONS SANCTIONS
    OUR BROTHER.

    THESE IS THE WEAKENING POINT.

    THEY WEAKENS, DESTROY US LATER.
THESE SANCTIONS IS NOT TO PUNISH
BUT BUY THE RIGHT TIME TO DESTROY US.

  43. Salam,

    **1. Allahyarham Ghadaffi”
Saya pun sedih kenapa orang Libya sanggup lanyak Allahyarham Ghadaffi. Kata perjuangan Islam tetapi tak nampak cara menanganinya cara Islam.

***3. Kepada Tan Sri Muhyidin berkaitan pengajaran Sains dalam Bahasa Inggeris***
Pasai apa Tan Sri kacau ibubapa?

Bila masa pula depa buat soal selidik kat sekolah anak saya?

Jangan marah ye. Usik sikit saja. Kalau banyak nanti pejuang Bahasa mula nak berbalas pantun. Bagaimanapun tak dinafikan beberapa pejuang Bahasa memang Melayu sejati tetapi bilangan nya sangat kecil.

Kalau siapa nak Bahasa Malaysia, biarlah dia pilih aliran Melayu.

Mohon maaf atas kesilapan dan kekasaran Bahasa.

  44. Dear YTM Tun,
Why are you so close to leaders like Gadaffi, Omar Bashyid, Mugabe, Idi Amin, Chavez and Castro?

These leaders are hated by their own people and only remain in power because of a powerful military and internal security apparatus.

Perhaps there is more commonalities than meet the eye. You can say what you want about the Western press but the truth is that it is objective, fact based and free. You can’t expect the world to take seriously the glowing tributes paid to you from Utusan Melayu, The Star or Berita Hairan? After all, the W hest has paid countless tributes to Lee Kuan Yew eventhough he was a strongman type leader, much in your mould, but I think its because he was a good leader for his nation

  45. Asalamualaikum Tun.

Takziah untuk Ghaddafi.Semoga dirahmati Allah s.w.t

    Terima kasih Tun.

  48. 11. I hope and pray that Libya will get a good Government after this, headed by leaders who truly believe in good Government, who will be prepared to lose in clean elections which will not be manipulated

…. hmmm … guess soon we will hear Blair says he hopes England will get a new prime minister who don’t lie in next election … hehe

  49. YAB Tun,

    10. Comment by CH LiewOctober 20, 2011 at 9:38 am on “Those foreign workers should pay a small income tax too.”

    11. Foreign labors who came to Malaysia to work are short term labour supply on contractual basis based on demand of labor in a particular industry whom opted to return to their country homelands when they have finished the contract period.

    12. Once the Federal Government has decided to implement 6% Government Sales Tax in the consumer and servicing industries, then these foreign labours are required to pay GST in order to enjoy what the consumers are enjoying in Malaysia.

    13. For those who do not support this, contohnya, Tuntuah and his gangs, then, they are favoring what we called “Sui 13” (Against Rule # 13).

    14. “Sui 13” means those who have had raped children under age below 13, and they will be sentenced for life in Common Court.

    Good day, YAB Tun.

  50. Salam TUN,

    Terima Kasih Tun,
    Terima kasih PM Najib,

    Emma~~

  51. Salam Tun,

It is sad to see him GO in this manner. Since they wanted him out for being a terrible leader, the NTC is no saint either. One would expect a proper trial be given to a man by a civilized government. But then again, sometimes liberty may lead to anarchy. Out of control, ineffective government. Iraq and Afghanistan are the case in point.

But, he stayed in power for far too long. Perhaps, no else during his time could have develop the country the way he did, but one should know when to step down and allow its people to “experience” change. “Thats before they force the change”.

    Salam

  52. What is wrong with world? Can’t the Govt of any countries run anything without being foolish?

The world is going forward and Malaysia is going backward and committing stupid things . The biggest stupid thing that happen in Malaysia is to teach students in BM. What good can it do for all, we don’t need to learn BM as we are already using it everyday. Do we need to learn how to eat? Indonesia and Thailand realize the important of international language and they are doing changes for improvement but over-here we are changing too but backwards and into dark-ages just because some kampung people do not have the ability to study and teach in English. Our Govt think that a few kampung people will can help the county? Don’t you think that the Education Minister statement is stupid when he said that our Malaysian teachers are not good in English. Then they should not be teachers they should be pasar-malam traders. Why employ people that are not suitable for the profession and waste money.

Those people that are running the county is so lack of ideas that they create stupid ideas and statements. Hope PAS will not win the next election if not more stupid things will happen. They will BAN anything and everything except praying and making-love. Ha! ha!

  53. Good morning YAB Tun,

    1. Gaddafi was tortured and murdered by his Muslim detractors whom all his life he had tried to develop and protect.

    2. To his detractors with least tolerance, he was considered an extreme dictator in their dictionary whom they preferred not to have mercy on him.

    3. To those who known him, he was a man of honor whom was willing to die in battlefield, and he died peacefully without regrets.

    4. Will Libya get good government with their own Muslim population under NTC?

    5. I doubt so.

    6. NTC was not able to get Gaddafi buried according to Islamic ritual, and his corpse was being exposed to the public, like an wild animal.

    7. In a civilized common world, no matter how we hated a person, we shall never want to curse, spit and take photograph with of the hated person.

    8. In a civilized Malaysia with general election in every 5 years, no matter what the detractors wanted to do onto BN, they will never succeed.

    9. Government is minimizing subsidies gradually, and within 8 years from now, if we still cannot maintain and adjust our lifestyle, blame ourselves for not working smart.

    Good day, YAB Tun.

    5. Didoakan semoga Najib dapat meneruskan kesinambungan sabuah pemerentahan yang baik demi masa depan Negara,

    Iklas,
    rahim

  55. Salam,

Little is known about what Gadafi had done for Libya. Not the same can be said for Malaysian leaders. Among them are:
    1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.
    2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given
to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.
6. Before Gaddafi only 25%
of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.
    7. Should Libyans want to take up farming, they would receive farming land, a farm house, equipment, seeds and livestock to kick- start their farms– all for free.
    8. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya,
the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US
$2,300/mth, accommodation and a car allowance.

  56. ya salam
kerana menentang barat, kerana lantang suara n kerana negara kaya dgn minyak.
Mungkin penyokong2 pembangkang tak sedar karana saraf otak mereka dah rosak kerana inilah dia dinamakan PERANG SARAF.

  57. Salam Tun,

    6. But he was certainly deficient in understanding the purpose of Government. He had no real plan for developing his country and prospering his people. He did not travel much to see how the other countries were developing. But his house where my wife and I had lunch with him and his wife was no palace. It was not even luxurious.

This is one aspect of dictatorship without constraint. It eludes the real purpose of having power.

There is another, which is that if the people or society does not understand the government’s role, then no matter how good that government is, it will also not bring benefit, and in fact can lead also to tragedy.

We can only do our best in life. What happened to Gaddafi is a tragedy for mankind. It makes one ashamed to be of the human species. I agree he should be taken alive and put on trial, and not be killed in this manner, not even in a war.

This is what happens when people believe in imposing their values. We have no choice really, but to excercise maximum restraint, but when limits are exceeded, madness will rule. There must be plenty of unhappy people in Libya, with no one listening to them, for this to have happened.

    Thank You Tun

  58. yes Tun… i’m agreeing with you. i only a student at government school, then i know that what i read and what media show is not the truth one… Gaddafi i think is like you, want to build his country, and make his country more well manage like Malaysia. you are the malaysia most important people in build the malaysia development. thanks Tun.

  60. Dear Tun,

I am too saddened by the passing of Muammar Gaddafi. As English idioms says what goes around, come around, maybe the fate that was befell to Mr. Gaddafi served as punishment to his misdeed during his reign, Wallahhulalam.

His greatest mistake is, staying too long. For over 42 years, there’s nothing much he bring to his people and country. When people getting fed-up, they will find ways and means to rebel. Unfortunately, Gaddafi decided to fight fire with fire, not by fight fire with water. The end result was, catastrophe, end-up with the killing of Gaddafi.

I am truly agree with you, that Gaddafi should be sent to trial, a democratic way of accusing person. Ironically, the people who are seeking the democracy, chose undemocratic way to serve their purpose. The future remain bleak for Libyan although their worst enemy has died.

  61. Assalamu’alaikum Tun,

    terimakasih Tun

  62. because of oil a lot of people were killed.
because of oil we have seen so many wars.
    so which country next?

    1. in libya case. libyans are stupid. asking for democracy and now what you get?
    2. UK at the moment penniless, going for bankrupt, took this oppurtunity ” to help” the libyan. now libyan have to pay the fees of nearly 2billion pound sterling just to get rid of gaddafi.
    3. US will be next. definitely more than the british becoz the british a bit conservative in claims.
    4. Sure italy and other european countries also busy to submit theirs.
    5. so what the libyan will get? hutang. all the oil now belong to US, british and others.
    6. the libyans are still poorer as before.
7.so what democracy they are talking about now?
    8. are you sure this democracy that you asked will make u happy?
    9. if this democracy makes you happy, and why still we have people like you making hell of noise because of dissatisfaction?
    10. how you rule your family? democratic way? hahaha. not a chance.
    11. generally you are all tipu diri n hipokrit.
