RADIATION

1. When X-Ray was first discovered it was used extensively in medicine. X-Rays were taken of the human body to detect diseases. Medical assistants and doctors operate X-Ray machines quite oblivious to the dangers from radiation.

2. After many years it was found that X-Rays cause certain diseases and affect fertility. Now when an X-Ray is taken, the radiologists stay outside the X-Ray room.

3. But we still use the X-Ray on patients because the effect of radiation is only felt when exposure is continuous or very frequent as with the staff in the X-Ray room. I was X-rayed many times during treatment for my heart and lungs.

4. I am against nuclear power plants because nuclear material once activated cannot be reversed. The nuclear wastes keep on radiating harmful rays for a million years. There is no really safe way to dispose them.

5. During the time when I was PM, we had problems with activated tin mining waste or amang, used for colour TV. We had to bury the waste in thick concrete deep in the ground. Now colour TV use plasma or LED and they produce practically no radiation.

6. However, there is now no more radiation at the site where the activated amang was buried. It is now safe to live on the site.

7. Chernobyl is near the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

8. Although the Chernobyl nuclear plant is still dangerous, Kiev is quite safe from the radiation emanating from the damaged nuclear power plant. The level of radiation is very low.

9. There was fear of Tokyo being affected by the accident to the Fukushima nuclear plant. But the radiation level in Tokyo is reported to be quite insignificant. Tokyo is safe.

10. Clearly the danger from radiation is dependant on the intensity of the rays and the duration of exposure. We are all exposed to some radiation from the sun, but it is not harmful.

11. The question is whether the Lynas plant for processing rare earth is a dangerous source of radiation. There are such plants in many countries where rare earth is processed for use in batteries and magnets. There have been no reports of radiation affecting the health of the workers or the people living in close proximity.

12. The proposed Lynas plant has been inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the world authority on nuclear material. They have not reported that Lynas is a dangerous project.

13. But protests are still going on. The only conclusion one can make is that the protests are political. No matter how many investigations and studies are made the protest will go on. It is not about danger to health. It is about defeating the Government in the coming election.

14. We should be careful with radioactive material. But we should not allow political activists and non-genuine environmentalists deprive us of the economic benefits rare-earth offer through unsubstantiated scare stories.

15. Although I am still not in favour of nuclear power plants, I have nothing against the Lynas project. The Government should not be afraid to let the project to go ahead.

    I think the point the protests and ppl are trying to make is that if we can avoid it, lets do so. It does smell of the opposition trying to lure ppl in and perhaps garner votes but the underlying point is that there are other means of getting FDI into the country. The Bukit Merah issue has sparked up more fear into the citizens. Also, to the pple who are clearly not threatened by it, someone proposed on PM Najib`s facebook that he should live next to it if it is not an issue. We are all concerned about our own health and safety at the end of the day. The ones in power always seem protected whilst the common man suffers. Also, to quote the infamous Dick Cheney,
    if there was a one percent chance that your health could be in jeaporday due to something, would you take that risk? It is almost impossible to counter that statement. I dont think we can be 100 percent sure at this stage. There are many things in life which we consume daily and have yet to fully understand its side effects. Hence, IF we can avoid so, then lets do it for the people

  2. Saya amat setuju dengan komen Saudara Rozali. Kita memang mempunyai ramai bakat yang berpotensi terutamanya dalam bidang Sains Fizik. Dalam suasana dunia yang kian tidak menentu, banyak pihak sanggup melakukan apa sahaja untuk mendapat sumber tenaga utama iaitu minyak dan gas. Sebagai salah satu pengeluar tenaga fossil ini, kita tidak seharusnya leka dan perlu memberi tumpuan terhadap usaha mencari tenaga alternatif bagi menampung keperluan negara.

    Saya percaya ramai bakat-bakat dan pakar fizik di Malaysia yang ingin mencurahkan bakti kepada rakyat dengan mempamerkan idea-idea dan kaedah baru untuk kebaikan generasi Malaysia akan datang. Kajian sains amat penting dan perlu diusahakan, namun dalam sistem moden sekarang ini, ia tidak mampu direalisasikan sekiranya tiada dana untuk usaha itu. Justeru, perlu ada sokongan dari pihak berwajib untuk menggerakkan impian murni ini.

    Saya rasa adalah menjadi impian seluruh rakyat Malaysia ingin melihat negara kita yang sungguh bertuah ini mampu berdiri sendiri tanpa terlalu bergantung kepada pihak luar untuk. Mungkin tidak terlalu keterlaluan sekiranya saya katakan bahawa Air pada suatu hari nanti mampu menjadi pengganti kepada minyak dan gas yang ternyata memberi impak besar terhadap alam sekitar dan umat manusia sejagat.

    1. Just because HBT kene cubit in class, she wants the whole country to stop learning English.

    2. I got public caning while in English school, but i do not say lets ban all English schools. The caning was executed by the headmaster in morning assembly, and so it is an honour. Only i could not sit comfortably until 11am. The pain was gone only after lunch.

    3. Malay teachers do not allow open questioning. It is not in the culture. Indian teachers never give straight answers. Chinese teachers never give any answer. I think the best teachers are books.

    4. But of books in the world, most of them are in English. There are also many in mandarin, french, german, japanese, korean. but i think for us, English lah.

    5. If HBT likes so much Bahasa Melayu to be medium in schools, she really ought to go to school again and see if she can improve upon her so-so results. It is likely she will again graduate with so-so results. So i think we should not take advise from her one. Not until she gets better results.

    6. My results very good one. I am best student one. I say my time is best, 50-50. 50% Malay, 50% English. We get the best of both worlds. The PPSMI is compromise. Not enough, it is 20% ingris-80% malay. It is to survive only.

    7. Everyone knows to survive only in this world is not enough. It is Malay mentality. Cukup makan sudah lah. No, we should aim for excellence. We should go 50%-50%.

    One of the catalyst for the many opposition to the Lynas project is the government’s poor respond to the rakyat’s questions.
    Instead of enlightening the commoners about the project, the government instead activates its political arms to counter-negatism and bad mouthing the opposition.
    Government linked media was on a month’s propaganda promoting Lynas which include a flight to Australia to visit the Australian miners’ headquarters.

    If the government have been transparent and truthful in the project, perhaps it would be less of the support to the opposition from the rakyat.
    Every time a valid question came on, the Lynas team will take a couple of days and reply with “we will do..” “we will have…”etc..which the lateness proved that the project was badly handled. It gaves an impression that the project and the government tried to hoodwinked the rakyat. As a responsible citizen who love the country and its environment, we have every right to ask questions that we do not understand. We have the right to defend folks who are suppressed or ignorant about the danger possibilities and consequences.

    I hope Tun can understand the anxiety the rakyat feels and also their dilemma of wanting the country to be economically rich, and also wanted the country to be safe as well.

    Parti pembangkang yang menamakan gabungan mereka sebagai Pakatan Rakyat dah tak ada modal politik lagi lebih-lebih lagi selepas era Pilihanraya ke 12, 2008. Apa juga usaha pihak kerajaan Barisan Nasional untuk kemajuan negara dan rakyat menjadi kecaman mereka. Hampir tiada satu pun usaha kerajaan Barisan Nasional yang dipersetujui dan diterima oleh mereka. Semuanya bagi mereka tidak mendatangkan kebaikan kepada negara dan rakyat. Era kepimpinan DSAI sebagai ketua pembangkang sudah merubah lanskap politik parti pembangkang dan negara ke suatu era politik meruntuhkan keharmonian negara dan rakyat Malaysia.

    Isu Radiasi dan berbagai isu-isu lain seperti isu agama Islam yang boleh melunturkan akidah umat Islam, isu perlembagaan negara yang mahu diubah jika pakatan pembangkang dapat berkuasa di peringkat persekutuan, isu mengangkat martabat pasukan komunis yang menyerang Balai Bolis Bukit Kepong di daerah Muar Johor dalam tahun 1950 sebagai wira negara, isu mahu menukar Bendera Malaysia kerana kononnya ditiru dari Bendera Amerika Syarikat, isu memperlekehkan kuasa raja berpelembagaan di Malaysia dan banyak lagi isu yang mereka fikirkan boleh menguntungkan perjuangan politik pakatan pembangkang. Isu Hukum Hudud dibangkitkan semula secara bermusim menjelang Pilihanraya Umum ke 13 oleh kepimpinan Pas.

    Bersatulah semula umat Islam di Malaysia termasuk parti UMNO dan Pas, supaya umat Islam itu lebih kukuh dan lebih berkuasa di negeri-negeri dan Parlimen. Segala perancangan mengenai Islam termasuk Hukum Hudud boleh dibangunkan dengan adanya kesepakatan dan kekuatan ummah Islam di Malaysia. Kepimpinan Pas jangan lagi berdolak dalik atas usaha menyatukan ummah, diantaranya menuduh UMNO menolak Islam tanpa bukti dan alasan yang kukuh. UMNO tidak sekali-kali menolak Islam, malah Islam di Malaysia dibangunkan oleh UMNO dengan jayanya melalui kesepakatan dalam kerajaan Barisan Nasional. Pakatan Rakyat tidak ada kesepakatan langsung khususnya dalam membangunkan Islam di Malaysia. Sama-samalah kita renungkan.

    Mitsubishi Quietly Cleans Up Its Former Refinery
    BUKIT MERAH, Malaysia — Hidden here in the jungles of north-central Malaysia, in a broad valley fringed with cave-pocked limestone cliffs topped with acacia and durian trees, lies the site of the largest radiation cleanup yet in the rare earth industry.
    Residents blamed a rare earth refinery for birth defects and eight leukemia cases within five years in a community of 11,000 — after many years with no leukemia cases. Seven of the leukemia victims have since died.
    The Bukit Merah case is little known even elsewhere in Malaysia, and virtually unknown in the West, because Mitsubishi Chemical quietly agreed to fix the problem even without a legal order to do so. Local protesters had contacted Japanese environmentalists and politicians, who in turn helped persuade the image-conscious company to close the refinery in 1992 and subsequently spend an estimated $100 million to clean up the site.
    Image-burnishing was important because the company is part of the Mitsubishi Group of Companies, which has long made Malaysia the cornerstone of its southeast Asian operations. The group has dominant positions in manufacturing a range of products, including air-conditioners and cars.
    Mitsubishi Chemical also reached an out-of-court settlement with residents here by agreeing to donate $164,000 to the community’s schools, while denying any responsibility for illnesses.
    Osamu Shimizu, the director of Asian Rare Earth, the Mitsubishi Chemical subsidiary that owns the mine, declined to discuss details of the factory’s operation before it closed in 1992. But he said that the company was committed to a safe and complete cleanup.
    Workers in protective gear have already removed 11,000 truckloads of radioactively contaminated material, hauling away every trace of the old refinery and even tainted soil from beneath it, down to the bedrock as much as 25 feet below, said Anthony Goh, the consultant overseeing the project for one of Mitsubishi’s contractors, GeoSyntec, an Atlanta-based firm.
    To dispose of the radioactive material, engineers have cut the top off a hill three miles away in a forest reserve, buried the material inside the hill’s core and then entombed it under more than 20 feet of clay and granite.
    The toughest part of the Bukit Merah cleanup will come this summer, when robots and workers in protective gear are to start trying to move more than 80,000 steel barrels of radioactive waste from a concrete bunker. They will mix it with cement and gypsum, and then permanently store it in the hilltop repository.
    The refinery processed slag from old tin mines — material rich in rare earth ore. The company and Malaysian regulators said that it was statistically possible that the leukemia cases were a coincidence because tin mining towns tend to have above-average levels of background radiation. But an academic study of another tin mining town suggested that communities of Bukit Merah’s size should only have one leukemia case every 30 years.
    Lai Kwan, aged 69, still recalls how she cheerfully moved in the 1980s from a sawmill job to a better-paying position in the refinery that involved proximity to radioactive materials. She remembers that while pregnant, she was told to take an unpaid day off only on days when the factory bosses said that a particularly dangerous consignment of ore had arrived.
    She has spent the last 29 years washing, dressing, feeding and otherwise taking care of her son from that pregnancy, who was born with severe mental and physical disabilities. She and other local residents blame the refinery for the problems, although birth defects can have many causes.
    “We saw it as a chance to get better pay,” Ms. Lai recalled. “We didn’t know what they were producing.”
    – Lai Kwan prepares to bathe her son, Cheah Kok Leong, who was born with severe mental disabilities. She believes that his condition is related to the radioactive exposure she received while working at the Mitsubishi Chemical’s refinery in Bukit Merah.

    SERDANG: English-medium schools are unlikely to make a comeback due to the country’s education policy, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

    The current policy required the Malay language to be the medium of instruction in national schools, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

    “This is a question of the national education policy.

    “It is not possible for us to set up national English-medium schools unless changes are made to the policy and the National Education Act (1996). It’s a different story for private schools,” said Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, after attending a dialogue session with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) academic staff and students here.

    “However, we have consented for national-type (vernacular) schools to use the Chinese and Tamil languages (as the medium of instruction).”

    Section 17 of the National Education Act 1996 states that the national language must be the main medium of instruction in all educational institutions under the national education system.

    The Act also provides an exemption to this rule for national-type schools or any other institution exempted by the Minister himself.

    Earlier at the dialogue session, Muhyiddin said that while the English language was important to master, the national language should not be forgotten.

    “We don’t want the national language to be left behind, but at the same time, we cannot deny the importance of the English language.

    “This is why the Government has taken many measures, such as employing native speakers as teachers, increasing the hours for English in the classroom; if this is not enough, we will introduce more initiatives,” he said.

    On a separate matter, Muhyiddin said UPM might have the chance to take over Serdang Hospital as its own.

    “We understand that UPM is the only university with a medical faculty that is yet to have its own hospital.

    “The Higher Education Minister has already prepared the necessary working paper, and we will present this to the Cabinet in the near future,” he said.

    1. Since English medium schools were banned 40 years ago, does it needs to be re-activated?

    2. I used to hear the so-called Malaysians who always complained that our English standard is lowered due to this reason, but no one came and tell me that.

    3. After I finished my SPM with so so result jor (means edi) with LOL (Lots Of Love), I was sent to English speaking country to further my tertiary studies under my father’s hard earned with tears and blood.

    4. I hate English language because I was humiliated and beaten by a female teacher of Ambiga’s race because I told her that I absent by saying, ” I have a sore eyes”.

  13. Yes Tun, the government should not be afraid of anything it does as long as it is good for the country. This political opposition parties are just rubbish. In fact, they are just wasting their time harping and instigating the rakyat on everything. They are a bunch of useless leaders whom I think are just not fit to govern the country. They won’t do good the country. That is a fact but only those who are in a state of denial will continue to support these leaders. At the moment we have to admit that our country is now in good hand with Najib at the helm. He knows his job and he is trying very hard to make things happen. And things are slowly happening, no doubt about it. So we shouldn’t be thinking of changing the government. It will make things worse, for sure. No two way about it. The rakyat must be pragmatic. We can never get anything good if there is a change of government. Lets be wise enough to accept this fact.

    Question; What if the propose LYNAS project is to be built in Penang/Kedah/Kelantan. Who will opposed to this and who will agree to this.

    My comment is that when agreeing or opposing something we have to be objective about the matter and issues. The matter that we are agreeing or opposing need to be fully understood. Then when we agreeing or opposing to any issues it will be base on facts not base on emotion.

    Thus there will be no party or individual who will disagree to an issue just it is not to their best interest and will agree to an issue if they fit their needs. They do not consider the good, the bad or the ugly of the matter at stake.

    China need so much Electricity so they can support their mass Mechanization, Automation, Robotization of their industries.

    History have proof times, and times again, Machines will outproduce, out-compete human labors. Malaysia may as well forget about making Industrial Corridors, if we cannot Grow our Electricity Production.

    I think to resolve this issue, the findings of IAEA and EIA that show the Lynas project do not provide any harm to humans which reside in close proximity of the area should be published for people to see.

    In this way, people will be more at ease with this issue.

    About the “Energy issue”. I think the government should have a debate about this, as this issue have a vital impact to the country in terms of economy, environmental etc.

    At this moment of time, the average malaysian pays electricity bill more then two fold then water and pays for petroleum even more.

    The demand for electricity will rise further in future. Proton is moving to electricity powered car and there will be abundance of electronic products produced to consumers.

    How can the government satisfy those demand while making the electricity affordable to the masses.

    Eventually, in a matter of time, like the industrialized country, we will have no choice but to adopt nuclear energy.

    Despite what had happened in Russia and Japan, both country had decided to continue with nuclear energy with more safety feature enforced.

    I am disagree with you on few facts that you mentioned about radiation for you only made general statements and not specifically on the types of radiation. You’ve mentioned about background radiation that exist naturally and does not possess harm to surrounding but you did not mention the catastrophe it would be when additional low level radiation is added to the environment. Low level radiation is a concern as it is very low and undetected only by specific equipment. It is too early to say that Fukushima’s radiation do not cause any harm, studies are yet to be conducted as traces of cesium prevail in poultry products and vegetables. In fact, the radiation from sun is harmful and carcinogenic – that cause skin cancer. NASA reported that coronal mass ejection from the sun can disrupt weather pattern and satellite communication. As for Lynas, I am more worried about the waste from the purification process and transportation from the port to the plant. There are many underlying questions about how to transport the ‘slightly radioactive material’ without endangering people along the vicinity. Also, how many tonnes of highly concentrated sulphuric and nitric acid will be used for refinery process? There is a 300 million ringgit plant built for this cause. Where are we going to dump these materials once we used? In fact there are 80,000 drums of thorium waste are still left in Papan – exposed in open space, not in concrete bunker and now a concern for leakage. Taking example of Baotou, in inner Mongolia, rare earth refinery has cause numerous problems from carcinogenic metallic lake to health issues. It is the only site in the world now that produces this ‘rare earth material’. More to come will be in Death Valley, California USA and India (who build this for its first nuclear plant). I wish you could explain what actually happened in Papan when you were the PM. Opposing lynas is not merely politics but ethics, on environmental and human right. I am aware that you oppose nuclear due to uncontrollable fission, but would you agree with thorium based fission which is safer and controllable? Only so far, the scientists have not found the safer way to produce thorium. Do you agree if we will be pioneering the first thorium based nuclear? All I can see is Lynas is just one step to the first nuclear power plant in the country.

    Give the people their fare benefit. Good offer can never be rejected. The truth is very clear.

    1. The Government failed to explain it as you have done it here. Compare how you explain it here to how the Government rep, media etc explained the issue. For some reason they sound stupid and not sincere. Stop this ‘old way’ of presenting facts in a “we-are-the-Governemnt-so- we-must-be-right-and-you-must-listen-to-us” manner.

    2. There many now who distrust the Government. The question is why? Part of it is political like you mentioned… but don’t you think political motivations arise because the Government weaknesses have allowed room for political maneuverings to bloom?

    4th Generation Nuclear Reactor. Malaysia have capabilities to Produce enough Concrete to Shield it from Radiation and Tomahawk Missile(KLCC Twin Rowers for example).

    China have an Operational 4th Generation Pebbled-Bed Nuclear Reactor HTR-10. Singapore wants it too (Malaysia may make lots of Profit Selling Concrete to Singapore).

    Concrete for More HydroElectric Dams and/or 4th Generation Pebbled-Bed Nuclear Reactor. Foxconn China already investing on Millions of Robots for its Production factory. General Electric-Fanuc already have Robots making Robots since 1989.

    Electricity key to Physical Economic Growth. Grow or Anglo-American Imperialist will crush us.

    Yes, nobody wants Lynas beside their house. Not only Lynas, I also don’t want hospital to be near my house, the ambulance is too noisy and disturb my sleep. Not to school, it will cause traffic jam, and block the road to my house. I want my house to be in the centre of a garden. So gov. must make sure only beautiful gardens around my house.
    Is it a “MUST” for Lynas to be in Malaysia? Where does it rank in the importance and priority list of economy, social or security study made by the gov. What other factor that made this project so important and seems like a “MUST”. A simple answer is a sincere answer…
    If the gov want to build a hospital or a school beside my house because the people really needed it, I will donate part of my land.
    When there is will there is way, to stop or to proceed or to convert, but importantly wisdom comes with sincerity…

    Akta Baru Ganti ISA Perlu Pelihara Hak Asasi Manusia

    KUALA LUMPUR: Penggubalan akta baru berikutan pemansuhan Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) perlu mengambil kira beberapa aspek termasuk tempoh tahanan dan hak membawa kes ke mahkamah bagi memastikan ia tidak melanggar hak asasi manusia, kata Ketua Pemuda Umno Khairy Jamaluddin.

    Selain menyifatkan tempoh tahanan 60 hari pada masa ini sebagai terlalu lama, beliau berkata Pemuda Umno juga pernah mengusulkan supaya setiap tahanan diberikan hak mendapatkan khidmat peguam serta hak untuk membawa kes ke mahkamah supaya kes mereka dapat disemak semula.

    “Kalau semua faktor ini dapat dimasukkan saya percaya rakyat Malaysia akan terima baik (akta baru).

    “Pada masa sama walaupun keselamatan negara dan rakyat akan dilihat lebih terjamin tetapi harus dipastikan juga hak asasi (tahanan) dipelihara,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas majlis sambutan rumah terbuka Aidilfitri Merdeka Raya Pergerakan Wanita, Pemuda dan Puteri Umno di sini, Khamis.

    Khairy berkata akta baru itu juga perlu mempunyai definisi spesifik yang memperinci secara jelas siapa yang boleh ditahan di bawah akta berkenaan.

    Dalam pada itu, Khairy yang juga Anggota Parlimen Rembau berkata Pemuda Umno akan melaksanakan siri penerangan di peringkat dalaman sayap itu bagi menjelaskan keputusan kerajaan untuk memansuhkan ISA seperti yang diumumkan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak baru-baru ini.

    “Kita kena beri penerangan kepada ahli agar mereka faham keputusan itu. Mungkin ada pihak yang menganggap ISA penting untuk keselamatan negara, jadi kita harus jelaskan bahawa walaupun ISA dimansuhkan, keselamatan negara tidak akan terjejas,” katanya.

    1. Kiev maybe unaffected, but Chernobyl and surroundings are not human liveable. I do not deny the richness that rare earth will bring to the industrious people and politicians, but of ordinary people living in the area, surely they ought to be handsomely compensated and moved elsewhere.

    2. May i humbly suggest they each be given houses around where HBT is staying, a re-settlement if you like, so that Lynas and politicians can be rich and the people happy and well fed.

    3. Not that we do not want to tap into the richness of our natural resources, but we do not have enough rich people in this country. And so the poor people become poorer because the rich takes from the poor. ( prices keep rising ). This is wrong i think. The rich should take from the government, not from the poor. When the government is poor, then we elect a new government and start over.

    4. Hopefully with this method, people will be less interested in politics and power, and everybody will live happily ever after.

    People are afraid whenever the word “radiation” is used in an industry. People are afraid a “chernobyl” disaster might happen in Malaysia.

    When talking about the Lynas project, there are those who are for and against it. The obvious reasons for those who support the project is that it will bring in billions in revenue. The opponents of the project is because there will be some radiation involved in the creation of the rare earth.

    The fact that the IAEA says the project is not dangerous is a big plus for the project to continue.

    Maybe the people need to be aware that the project is not dangerous. The state government as well as the companies involved need to raise the awareness of the locals the radiation levels involved and all the safety precautions taken. The company should also have a Corporate Social Responsibility program or CSR to help the locals.

    The state government and the companies involved must also show that the project will bring in development and job opportunities to the locals.

    I would agree for the government to continue with the project provided it is safe towards the environment and the locals and the project not only benefit the state government and company but the locals as well.

    Yes radiation is dangerous. Nuclear power is cheap. As we can see by the recent tsunami of Japan, given the force of nature, nuclear plants can leave a potential deadly footprint. Never mind the negative things we as humans can do with it.

    Traditionally, Lotus loses money on almost everything they do. So logically you could argue that utilising Motorsport to create a core “Training” business would result in huge losses.
    $5 billion revenue in the hands of people only able to operate at a loss would be catastrophic.
    Should any of the companies you advise really want a person who feels that he can operate at a profit? Think outside the box, and bring long lasting benefit to the organisation.

    3. Saya bertanya kepada seorang salesgirl berumur awal 20-an apa maksud baju yang dipakai beliau. Beliau adalah antara salesgirl dan salesman yang berbangsa MELAYU dan beragama Islam yang turut memakai t-shirt tersebut.

    5. Saya terkedu, begitu mudahnya beliau membuat sesuatu perkara, tanpa mengetahui sebab dan tujuannya.
    6. Saya turut berasa sedih, kerana dia juga sebangsa dan seagama dengan saya, seolah-olah bagai lembu dicucuk hidung, mengikut dan hanya menurut.

    Maybe I’m mistaken but I recall you asking why Malaysians cannot be like the Americans when it comes to supporting the elected government. Both American political parties campaign hard right to the end but once their president was elected, they consolidated and worked united as one under the new president. Here, it’s impossible to find even one day where we can read the news where there’s no political parties pointing fingers and fighting each other even after the elections.

    Our HydroElectric Dams(Including Bakun Dam) Cannot Even Produce 30% of Malaysia Electricity.

    Either Built More HydroElectric Dam(and Prevent Floods on Padi Fields), and/or built Underground 4th Generation Pebbled-Bed Nuclear Power Plant with all the safety features that can even Withstand a Tomahawk Missile.

    Or Proton Electric Dream Car is a Bubble that Pops when the Fuel that Generate the Electricity, used up gone.

    One can argue that Msia’s AELB say its safe so it shd be safe.

    I hv to admit despite the govt accredited institution say its ok or not, I wldnt want it if its near my house.

    Why? Conspiracy theory says so. Remember Tun you hv taught Msians to hv strong sense of conspiracy theory? Remember Avatar and 9/11?

    Anyway, ask your conscience do you want it near yr house? Those people that comment without truly think of this aspect is truly evil person.

    I wld tell you if its next to my house I wld for sure move my entire family out. But that’s just me.

    coz we feel that it is not as harmful as the the ‘First Lady’ projection that will harm the UMNO/BN in PRU 13!

    Im referring to point No 6. I dont know which ‘amang’ site Tun referring to, but if it is Papan, Perak, then the statment (point) given is not correct. The radioactive material is Thorium, the half-life for Thorium is 14.05 BILLION years, which means 1.0 g today will be 0.5g in 14 billion years. It emits Alpha particles. Just to update Tun, the initial bunker’s is no longer safe. Leakage has been detected. Now new site being prepared to deposit it safely. Work is going on at site.

    The standard of Malaysian opposition is ‘oppose just for the sake of opposing’. This is why Malaysian opposition party is weak. There have limited substance.

    But the Government should not take this for granted. Public must be well informed of the risks and also the benefits of Lynas operation. In the end of the day, it is the public that will benefit from the jobs and maybe small businesses created but they are also the ones that will suffer the consequences if, God forbids, things go wrong.

    I got bit and pcs of info. that there was similar rare earth plant somewhere in Perak many yrs ago.

    There were diseases and deaths of people at nearby surrounding area associated to the Perak rare earth plant.

    It went to court and initially ruled in favor of victims but then an appeal overturned the case later.

    Though appeal had won back the case, it was a company from Japan that operates the plant thus Japan govt was kind enough to decide that they shd stop it.

    I wish some one can give strong facts to shed the light to this. It will help us to understand more if Lynas shd go ahead.

    Org Sarawak dan Sabah yg bekerja dalam sektor AWAM akan setia Sokong BN. TP adik,kakak,abang dan isteri, ayah, ibu masih atas pagar…kerana COLA sektor awam bagi Org Sarawak dan Sabah TIDAK diberikan bila berkhidmat di KL n Putrajaya. So mereka barasa saudara mereka diketepikan dan di anak tiri kan serta ditindas…

    Ini berlainan dgn Org semenanjung yg bertugas di Sabah dan Sarawak yg mendapat Elaun yg lg Besar dari org Sarawak dan Sabah yg berkhidmat di Semenanjung. Saya rasa Kerajaan harus membuat pembetulan dalam hal ini… Ini kerana harga rumah sewa yg lebih tinggi di KL,Putrajaya… berbanding Di Sabah dan Sarawak….iaitu dua kali ganda perbezaannya.

    1. The protest of Lynas plant including the Australian gold mine in Pahang’s rural and isolated territories, whom can be easily influenced by scary stories, became political issues when Parti Keadilan Rakyat started the protest.

    2. Even Anwar’s sodomy case is political, and Anwar preferred to hire and pay foreigner now, an Australian white’s DNA expert, a Scientist, to back him up.

    3. Nama ahli politik Anwar Ibrahim bukan harum dan bersih juga di negara kita.

    4. In Malaysian, many local experts with high integrity be it in the Government and private sectors may not want to be closely associate with politician whom has became obsessed with anti-Government sentiments because he was dragged down by his stronger enemies, we know who they are in our heart.

    5. We should be thankful that Anwar’s sodomy case is being trial with details and in transparent manner in our High Court, and this is how Common Law works.

    6. Some lawyers go for power and money, some lawyers go for finding the truth.

    7. I am sure many of us including motor insurance industry do not favor our high severe road accident rate which caused over thousands of lives lost year after year and yet more and more rakyat want to own and drive cars on road because to them having cars at home have many economic benefits and conveniences.

    8. High Resolution cameras will be utilized in hot spots of high habitual traffic offenders to discipline them to obey rules and regulations when on the road now.

    9. If you break the traffic rule, you will be saman.

    11. From the news, our PM said that full GST will be implemented after GE13.

    12. PM has signed up the MOU with South Korea to start on small scale nuclear power plant research initiative as foundation to sustain our industry index.

    It has been very obvious since the day i started to understand about the opposition. Ever since, they only agree once with the ruling party. That is when you are fighting to revoke the immunity of the royals from the law.

    Other than that, they oppose almost everything. You can name it, the privatization which has been producing income rather than just a mere liability, industrialization that boosted the economy, plus highway as a backbone of Malaysian logistic, mega infrastructure project, our financial system (the stock exchange, the 1998 bailouts and IMF issues) even our international and domestic affairs were not spared.

    But had we listened to them or let them run this country, we can imagine what the country will look like without all those been done.

    Look at the very people who had undergone the uprising in the middle east. Now they are starting demonstration in the country they immigrated because they demand better treatment. They never think why they have to immigrate in the first place.

    Well Malaysia is not as bad as painted by the opposition. They can fool some people who had never visited other countries. There are a lot of poor, unstable and undeveloped country in this world compared to the developed ones. Even the developed country all over the world are suffering from financial instability, debt crisis and unemployement. And they thought Anwar Ibrahim can handle it better than what leaders of the developed world able to do now.

    Believe me, its better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know. Try to understand this proverb. It is invented by the West themselves. This is not like you are boring with KFC and you wanted something else.

    P/s: For all we know, the oppositions and their followers are making fortunes all the while and currently earning major income under BN wealth creation effort.

    I suggest you take a tour around the plant. Maybe talk to some of the contract foreign/local workers erecting scaffolds and ask them what they feel about the plant (scaffolders being an example, of course you can talk to others too).

    When we talk about people politicizing issues, I think all politician regardless whether they are in power or not, played their role in encouraging it.

    As I commented on one of your blogs before, me and many other like-minded people are eager to listen to your idealistic side. Sadly, your politics is not relevant anymore. Then again, I can be wrong.

    Thanks for the opinion of LYNAS and it is very great if you also can share with us what happen in Bukit Merah years back which I think some of us need to know so that we have better understanding of LYNAS and Bukit Merah.
