1. The last time I was in Labuan was in 1998 to officiate the opening of the new building of the Labuan Offshore Financial Centre. So when I was invited to speak on Islamic Finance by the Centre, now known as the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority, I accepted it with alacrity. I wanted to see the progress made since I was there the last time.
2. I am glad to see obvious development everywhere. The old wood and zinc sheds have been largely replaced by new brick and mortar houses of pleasing designs. The roads are well paved. The kampung roads have been concretised. New buildings and shop houses are going up everywhere.
3. YB Dato Yusof Haji Mahal (MP for Labuan) rode with me around the island pointing out proudly to the concrete walkways in the water villages, the Direct Reduction Iron plant, the oil supply base and the big Petronas Methanol plants.
5. There is a big new international airport but only MAS and Air Asia flies into Labuan. Although there is an open-sky policy, attempts to get foreign airlines to fly to Labuan has failed. As a result tourist arrivals is very small.
6. When I was PM I had suggested we make Labuan into a garden island. In Victoria Island in Vancouver, an old quarry was developed into a beautiful garden – the Butchart Gardens. Annually it receives 2 million visitors.
7. We once invited the developers of Butchart Gardens to build a smaller garden in Tanjung Malim near a hot spring whose hot water flows into a nearby river. Money was allocated for it but when I stepped down the project was dumped because the Government has no money.
8. If we want tourists to come we must have something to show them. Labuan has a few natural things to offer but not enough to attract foreign tourist. Converting the island into a garden, building bicycle tracts for mountain bikes and holding bicycle races, a regatta for sailing boats, fishing, diving to see shipwrecks would add to Labuan’s attraction as a free port and shopping centre for visitors from Asean neighbours and other countries.
9. The cost to the Government for providing all these would be quite small but for the Government and the country the returns can be quite considerable.
10. Labuan is a Barisan Nasional stronghold. It was once won by an independent. I think enticing the 80,000 Labuanese would be good for BN politics.
Dear Sir,
I look up to you as my mentor. Your method on running Malaysia was bold, sometimes not straightforward (in “grey” area cases) but I am sure you’ve got your own reasons, with Malaysia at heart.
I am just an ordinary Malaysian from Sabah, employed, with family. Like other common Malaysians.
I am not into politics and I am not saying I don’t care, just in the sense that I am neutral (I always see things “the big picture” way)…..coal fire power plant in Sabah, we have parties who wants to make sure that the nature is not harmed, we have parties who sees the power shortage is one issue to be addresed to for growth and at the same time jobs will be created infrastructures will be built and improved, what about other alternatives, lets say gas….Sabah have but maybe cost too high etc….its very “grey”. Behind the curtain, we have parties who will $profit$ from the project and we will have parties who will not $profit$ because they didn’t get the project, normal….and so on.
Now….looking at the Sabah Oil Gas Terminal (SOGT) project….that is really mind boggling, I can’t seem to see “the big picture”, SAMSUNG-NAIM JV, Korean-Sarawakian….Korean, I understand, but Sarawakian?….I am not well versed in politics but I know a little bit about the economics side of it, lets say the Federal Government/Petronas sees that the China-Sabah JV does not meet the requirements and it being such a sensitive issue for the locals, worst scenario, Korea-Sabah-Sarawak atleast….and the Federal Government/Petronas made such decisions? I think it is going to effect the political side, maybe.
Sir, please share your thoughts.

Salam Hormat kepada Y Bhg Tun berdua.
1. Tun banyakkanlah cerita-cerita sebegini supaya sesetengah golongan yang dok ungkit ‘tax payer money’ sedar duit mereka dilaburkan juga untuk kebaikan bersama.
Semuga Tun berdua sihat sejahtera hendaknya. Amin.
When it comes to tourism, the uniqueness of a place must be harnessed so that tourists will see and know that that place is special. What do tourists want ? Why do we go somewhere for a holiday ? If every place is almost the same, we might as well just stay home. Labuan is a quiet quite developed island. Its’ tourism sector faces fierce competition from Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei. Sabah will win because the fact stays. Mount Kinabalu. Pulau Sipadan. God’s given creations. Even with that Sabah has not come to her fullest developed stage. There is a plot of land in Labuan dedicated to the remembrance of World War II soldiers. Many Australian tourists come because of that. Then there is this coal mine once upon a time but the coal is not longer around. The natural sea beaches can be further developed. May be the advertisement can read as follows. Get away from it all. Quiet. Peaceful. Serene. 6 stars resort. Traditional food.
Salam Tun, hope you doing good
Labuan herself rich with limitless nature resources we could name, potentially become a great spot for tourism, alas the lacks of determined platform in promoting it to global audiences always be our periodical disability. We need every capable and determined person/groups to make it happen. ( In any respective area and expertise).

Salam Tun,
sikit komen berkenaan Labuan yg terlintas dikepala skrg
1) setiap kali keluar outstation; KL or KK pasti saya pasti akan bawa pulang apa-apa barang keperluan. (point is barang di labuan mahal. bukan hari hari org labuan nak makan coklat pun…)
Jgn harap la dapat sewa or beli rumah teres kat Labuan
4) Orang kata (bukan saya kata) kalau nak beli ikan, jgn pergi pasar labuan, pergi beli dari nelayan di kampung2.
5) Nak ke tanah besar Sabah dgn bawa kereta ada la satu feri. skrg dah tambah lagi ; dgrnya ada 1 konsensi; itupun lepas pembangkang mai)
6) dan terakhir , rasanya PM baru kita (yang dah beberapa tahun jadi PM) belum mai lagi Labuan. Baru hantar s/u sulit saja ke Labuan cerita 1Malaysia. So tak lengkap lagi la PM kita pusing 1 negara.
Semua diatas hanya pandangan peribadi saya sahaja.
Salam 1Malaysia Tun,
Your well written piece on Labuan is an eye opener to this neglected little island.
The federal government did do some good deeds for Labuan after taking over from Sabah. Developments were obvious, especially during your stewardship, I do remember very clearly your good intension to turn Labuan into a garden island. At the begining, it seemed as though the local goverment were veering towards that vision. Many good plans were laid out, obvious changes were apparent especially in terms of beautiful flowers and trees planted within the town area. I used to think that the road stretch from the old airport to the town (passing the convent schools and sabah electricity office building) were the most beautiful, filled with vibrant colours from different type of plants and excellent landscaping.
Sadly, 10 years down the road brings us to the present day, Labuan now was never as beautiful as Labuan 10 years ago. Although developments today are clearly apparent, but the planning and execution are clearly very poor, done by those not for the love of the island but the thickness of their dollars and cents. I am sorry to say this but the new MP has not done his job well in making Labuan better for the future. Many great projects were completed but its function was not fully exploited.
For example, the Water Sports Complex, it must take millions RM to build but did you know that it is now only famous for a nasi lemak stall?? The so-called most modern building ‘Financial Park of Labuan’ has seen better days. The maintenance of this Labuan icon is a great shame.
We thank you Tun, for your highlights on Labuan, may this be an eye opener for the “Leader(s)involved … after all, they do have their KPI to meet.
Wassalam
For starters, the mentality of keeping the Island free from pollution must be cultivated. The Island is surrounded by filth and nothing is being done about it.
Tourists simply cannot understand how pollution cannot be controlled on such a small island. And the administrators do not even bother to keep filth away.
Correct this first, before opening up to tourists.
Dear Sir,
I have visited Labuan many times during the last ten years or so due to work, and yes Labuan is indeed a beautiful island, unspoilt and it has its own charm. It is well landscaped, most welcoming, the town is clean and orderly, and even the ferry to Brunei is punctual and reliable.
Its geographical location may not appeal to mass tourism, except for those from Brunei, but I feel Labuan has other potentials – Off-shore banking, halal hub, deep sea fishery, and perhaps niche tourism since it has a few islands and ship wrecks which attract divers. Wellness tourism is also an appeal due to its tranquility. It has already an industrial base, mainly the oil and gas, and port services, and a small, sizeable international community.
We must understand that it has a long historical link with Brunei, and many Labuan Malays are of Brunei Malay stock. Due to historical reasons also, its land laws are based on the Sabah land laws. Furthermore, political events many years ago saw the private ownership of some of the small islands around it, such as Pulau Daat and Pulau Burong.
Unfortunately Labuan has a few problems that need attention, such as its coastal erosion on the west coast. You can see it clearly as you drive along Jalan Batu Manikar, and Jalan Sg Lada. And much of the mangrove forests, which protect the shorelines from erosion, are actually land with titles owned by people, which means they can legally be developed. Removing the mangrove means more erosion problems.
There is also the problem of illegal immigrants, and also the need to improve the conditions of the “Kampong Air’. While Langkawi has many nice sandy beaches where people can swim, Labuan’s coastal waters are either rocky, mudflats, or faced with strong currents making such recreational activity difficult, if not impossible. However, its seafood is most welcoming, due to its freshness and low cost. That is its another attraction.
However, there are only two good (five star) hotels, the Dorsett and the Waterfront, with limited number of rooms, which is a problem for international conferences, or MICE. As for shopping, it is certainly not a destination since its Parkson Ria is equivalent to the Parkson Ria in Kajang, may be worse.
I feel that a thorough long term planning for Labuan has to be done specifically to focus on the future development direction for Labuan, to accept its limitations and enhance its positive character and strategic promises. It should not be left as it is.
Good afternoon Ayahanda Tun,
At last, French Retail Giant, Carrefour has cancelled the sales of its 23 outlets in M’sia and 2 in S’pore and will build ups its market shares.

FRENCH retail giant Carrefour said on Thursday it had cancelled a planned sale of its stores in Singapore and Malaysia, deciding instead to build up its market share in the Asian nations.
Carrefour said this week it was offloading its 42 Thai stores, and had been looking to sell its 23 Malaysian and two Singaporean outlets as well.
But the firm said it had decided to retain its presence in Singapore and Malaysia, after the planned auction did not attract bids that would have justified the sale.
‘Emerging markets are going to be the major engine of growth in the medium and long term for our company,’ Carrefour chief executive Lars Olofsson told the Wall Street Journal.
The French company on Monday said it was selling its Thai business to rival Big C, part of the French Casino group, for 868 million euros (S$1.53 billion).
According to Carrefour, Asia accounted for 7.6 per cent of its total net sales of 85.96 billion euros in 2009, compared to 13.7 per cent for Latin America and 35.7 per cent for Europe excluding France. — AFP
Good day Ayahanda Tun. I do hope that this alternative source of news will be able to provide Ayahanda Tun a less bias, more balance and straight forward news update for business happenings in the ASEAN and Common Wealth Regions at the moment.
PS: Is Marina Sands and Casino aware of FT Labuan?
Though PM is a Muslim, he, as 1 Malaysia PM representing the country and king, will he invites Marina Sands and Casino to extent and expand their tourism businesses in Labuan Federal Territory, a wonderful , peaceful island, with so much lesser political power strugglings, that may draw tourism REVENUE from Sabahans, Sarawakians, Bruneians, Hongkongers, Australians, New Zelanders, Taiwanese, Chinese, Peninsula Malaysians, Japanese and Indonesians, etc?
Dear Tun Dr Mahathir,
Salaams
To Develop Labuan
(if we want tourists to come we must have something to show them)
I still have Charlie Rose one-on-one with Ian Bremmer up front on my mind. Of course, the thought of more PRC citizens taking up properties in the US is lurking at the back. Tun is talking of Labuan.
Attractions and places of interest
There are several attractions and places of interest on Labuan. The military cemetery contains various war graves and memorials to the fallen of World War II. This includes British, Australian, Indian, Sarawakian, Bruneian, North Borneo and Empire troops. There is also a memorial celebrating the surrender of the Japanese to the Australian Forces in 1945. There are also remnants of Labuan’s history as a Royal Navy Coaling station, including ‘the chimney’, a well known local landmark. There is also a Labuan Maritime Museum.
Labuan is also the base for diving on four popular wreck dives: the Cement wreck, the American wreck, the Australian wreck and the Blue Water wreck.[2]
Labuan has many schools. However, it has only one international school, Labuan International School.[3] Other places of interest include the Labuan International Sea Sport Complex. Newly proposed is the Marina centre and Labuan Square project which are expected to be completed in next two years from 2008.
Labuan’s own institution of higher education is Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus,[4], a branch of Universiti Malaysia Sabah in Sepanggar Bay, Kota Kinabalu. Labuan also has a matriculation college, Kolej Matrikulasi Labuan, the only matriculation college in East Malaysia. Thus, all pre-university students from Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will take their courses here.
(Labuan In The Wiki)
I live on an island that has seen better days and is drowning from developments on reclaim land. Penang Island is without a vison for a better tomorrow. I do not put the blame on Tn Guan Eng – Sdr. Ketua Menteri bukan Tan Sri atau Datuk Seri. He does not even have an AMN unlike P. Ramlee.
Labuan and Langkawi – that is where the real challenges lie in modern development of our pristine islands. While L is for learners and lembus on the road, Penang is a failure and would cost too much to bail it out with the same blindness of vision present. Some said that it will take aan UMNO Ketua Menteri like Rustam of Melaka to make right what went so wrong on this Island of mine, Tun. Not the GLCs.
Perhaps these thoughts will still be with me when I listen to Charlie Rose entertaining with an hour with Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson Co-chairs Of President Obama’s Bipartisan Deficit Commission
and wondering what kind of tourists will be flocking Labuan and Langkawi.
Terima Kasih Dan Salam Hormat.
Salam Tun DM,
give the development to KJ, sure it can be worked out!! hehehe
Labuan oh! labuan….
Jambatan yg x kesampaian….bila la nak dapat….?
Air yg tak pernah cukup….bila nak cukup…?
Aktiviti malam yg terlampau….bila nak abis…?
Harga rumah mahal….nak jd mcm Penang ke…?
Projek byk terbengkalai….ape cite bro…?
Selamat Hari Raya Korban smua…..
Assalamualaikum Y.A.B Tun
I think better for government of Malaysia sell this tiny Labuan Island to The Kingdom of Brunei Darussalam and change her with three or four blocks of oil reservoir that have a value of Malaysia gold reserve.
Labuan is only a small island that has not any significant role in Federal Government.Education level among the labuanese are relatively low and most of them are working on labour class. Also,Any Federal government projects and planning for labuan are failed and not succeed.
No need for federal government to spend huge money just to develop this tiny, unsignificant and isolated island
This is just my personal opinion
Wassalam
Assallammualaikumwarahmatullahiwabarokatuh..
Tun..moga sudi mengizinkan..:)
Sisterly HBT..
I can highlight you in another light of perspective where Islam is concern’s the way I knew them best.Shall we share questionaires?
Thank you..
Terima kasih Tun.
Tun,
In my opinion, linking Labuan to Menumbok <click here>
should be considered, like what you have done in 1984, linking Penang to Prai.

Good morning Ayahanda Tun,
1. Not only myself using domestic water filter brand of RM2,000 plus due to raw patriotism and self-learned stimulation for local micro economic activity in water filter industry, I remember Najib’s mother also owned a famous local brand, DIAMOND water filter in her home when my Kelantanese (30 years old by now ) assistant editor and I interviewed Norjuma in the Najib’s mother home located in the neighbourhood of KLCC Petronas Twin Tower, Jalan Pinang and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng.
2. Kuala Lumpur before Tanah Melayu was coloniZed by British Empire; Kuala Lumpur (or Muddy Territory) was belonged to Sultan Selangor and there were only kongsi2 gelap associations before and during British Empire Colonization.
3. When I was required to rub medicated cream to kill bacteria before I sake hand with Tun Dr MM; Tun Dr Hasmah and En Sufi (?) during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri; I can safely assumed Ayahanda Tun; a GP in medical; does owned a trusted water filter brand at home.
4. Water filter industry is a well-established domestic micro economic activity after ’97 crisis which have had allow our people to earn their rezeki and pay finance and banking instalments and interest rate for their warehouses; manufacturing plants; retail outlets; HQ offices; future new markets & developments and employees
“Hari Raya Aidil Adha” dear Ayahnda TDM and TDSH!
assalamualaikum tun sekeluarga…
selamat hari raya aidil adha….

Wassalam.
Assalamualaikum & Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha kepada Tun sekeluarga.
As a resident of Labuan, I feel compelled to comment on a few of your observations during your recent trip to this beautiful island:
1. Indeed Labuan has seen tremendous progress since your last visit here. However one cannot but think how under-performing this island have been. By now we should be talking Labuan to take on Singapore and maybe even Hong Kong as a financial centre in the region.
2. The Oil & Gas sector has contributed a major part to the island’s progress. Thanks to the o&g workers, landlords can charge rent as high as RM1000 per month for a 1980’s era single storey corner terrace house.
3. However, apart from duty-free cars, the promised ‘duty free paradise’ fell short of potential. Only alcohol and chocolates are sold in cheap abundance. Other goods are still imported (taxed) via KK or KL.Electrical goods are a good 20-30 percent dearer (often more!) than in other places.Food items face the same predicament as perishables are brought in from the mainland whilst all the good seafood are sold mid-sea to brunei or sabah wholesalers.
4. I would like to qualify the statement on the gas plant. SESB in Labuan has been performing abysmally for so long. This past two months we have had at least ten incidents of blackouts, four of them on a single day in my area. As far as I know Labuan imports electricity from the mainland rather than exporting it. At least this was what the folks at Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Affectionately known as Sabah Everyday Sure Blackout locally) tells us.
5. Water is also a big issue in Labuan. This year has seen many business and residents cry fouls over water shortages. The smaller petronas methanol plant has been shut down for over a year in order to reduce the water consumption on the island. currently most of the water needs are imported from the mainland. we are told that the water pipeline project to meet the escalating demand has been delayed for years now.
6. Nevertheless we love this island. However we feel that BN has taken this island for granted, as the opposition virtually has no presence at all here. Many projects have been abandoned (I doubt the YB showed you the derelict new market project in Rancha-Rancha and the mosque in Durian Tunjung).
7. The idea of Labuan as an IOFC was well executed in the beginning, sadly the follow up was really lacking. All the grand buildings have not translated to a robust, modern economy with a competent governing authority.
Finally, I thank you, Tun for bringing the attention to Labuan. Your writings are widely read and still very influential. We hope something positive will come out of this.
Wassalam
Assalamualaikum Tun Yang Amat Dihormati,
Terima kasih.
Salam Tun sekeluarga,
Selamat hari raya korban.
Labuan sekarang ramai orang panggil sebagai little Manila. Kenapa ye???
Dear Tun,
Just wanted to wish you, kak Hasmah and all family members Selamat Aidiladha.
May all of you have more Aidiladhas in the years to come.
Best Regards.

Assalam mualaikum
Dear Tun,
Selamat hari Raya Aidil Adha
Hw many of the politicians and Gvernment people ‘ willing ‘ to think out of the box Tun ? If you can get at least 5 percent that able to think half of what you think..dah kira bagus la. Sadly all these people prefer the ‘safe way ‘ out.
Way back in 1982=83 I did try to propose a water Park and a Theme park..but I was shot down just like that. Those days every industries are more focussed on building houses but not providing ecerational amneties. So my project paper and proposal was kept in the drawer. Untl eraly 1984 if I was not mistaken, the Sunwaygroup approached me to hv a look at my paper. But I was so bloody stupid, naive and honest. I let them photostat my proposal and now just look at Sunway Lagoon.
Same thing with the idea of building and manufacturng motorcycles. I approached MITI during Rafidah Aziz time. They just rejected my idea just like taht citing that the Government does not issue manufacturing licence to build motorcycles. Finally they allowed Modenas to start production. Till today what Modenas has to show to Malaysians and the world? Nothing. All their productions are copies of Kawasakis and Taiwans product. No big deal. Actualy they can innovate by producing Bajai like what you see in India. Those bajais are exported worldwide. Same with Chinese made Bajai now aleady having big demands in Mddle east especiallt the Palestine. All these Modenas can do..,BUt they prefer to sit back. Maybe they still waiting for the ‘ Go’ insructions from the Government .
Oh yes..Tun you became PM in 1981 and started the Look East policy. FYI was more early than your vision bcos I was in Japan in 1979 and cleary saw what Malaysians can learn from the Japanese. When I came back in 1982, I did proposed to a few Government agencies but all refused to accet my ideas.
Taking stock of what TUN M did for Langkawi that has now become a global geopark under UNESCO, Tun’s suggestion is most apt for an island like Labuan…for it to become a tourist attraction like Langkawi.
Dearest Tun
7. We once invited the developers of Butchart Gardens to build a smaller garden in Tanjung Malim near a hot spring whose hot water flows into a nearby river. Money was allocated for it but when I stepped down the project was dumped because the Government has no money.
Tun oh Tun.
1-Kalau for other places tu inilah cerita nya selalu sangat dah dengar.Tapi kalau for Langkawi tu tak pulak the government has no money.Dah le tu sebelum bersara dah dilaksanakan.
2-Kedah tu negeri kaya sangat ke?Penanaman padi tu kan kos tinggi sebab kerajaan kena bagi sabsidi lagi.Macamana langkawi tu ade je duit nak majukan?Kot kot duit Federal kot..
3-Tun you must do something for Labuan before you go Tun.Because many Labuan people really despise you for your double standards towards them.Langkawi which is the responsibilty of negeri Kedah you devoted habis habisan macam you tu Menteri Besar Kedah.
4-Mana boleh macam tu Tun.Pemimpin wajib adil.By right Labuan the Federal Territory that must receive your undivided devotion because you are a federal Prime Minister.Even though I am not from Labuan I could feel their frustration.
5-I know how they feel because that is how I feel the way you have neglected my state Perak.Let me be frank with you Tun although I may love you for the many great things you’ve done for this country that made me proud being Malaysian, for your double standards to your people I actually hate you very much.
6-Your 22 years have been nothing but a curse to my Ipoh and Labuan too.My gross love for you 2 milion KS(kasih sayang)my nett love for you (less total hate)-250,000 KS only, which is actually still very high..
7-Selamat menyambut Aidil Adha to you and family and all Muslim bloggers and as usual happy holidays to all the rest.Life is short don’t worry be happy!
Thanks Tun.
Good evening Ayahanda Tun,
1. I do hope that BN Chairman should make sure this FT remains stronghold of BN so that BN can continue its ruling after PRU13.
2. As for other states and territories with the component parties which may be able to stand on their feet and can be managed by some BN component parties, BN Chairman should make a sincere political trip with no money politics to Labuan to remind and re-create awareness that Malaysia under 1 Malaysia has 3 FEDERAL TERRITORIES:-
1st FT is Kuala Lumpur
2nd FT is Labuan
3rd FT is Putrajaya
3. Government under 5th PM and 5th BN Chairman, the government has no money.
4. Government under 6th PM and 6th BN Chairman, Malaysians were told that the Government may bankrupt in 2019.
5. We can safely conclude that under 7th PM and 7th BN Chairman, the government also got no money lah.
6. I am wondering what made the 5th PM and 5th BN Chairman said that the Government has no money and yet our GLCs, political parties and private developers developed corridor2, township2 and taman2 here and there in Peninsula, how these developers pay back the banks IF Occupancy rate is less than 40% after 3rd years of launching, by quantitative easing, government-backed low interest bond issuance or increase interest rate of OPR?
7. Instead of wasting unnecessary human and capital resources in re-capture the developed Selangor state, BN Chairman should focus on other BN stronghold constituents; and in maintaining BN ruling, money politics may not need to be spent at all, and the winning in Galas and Batu Sapi have proven that passion and sincerity are the keys to win the heart of the people.
8. Today, Selangor state can stand on its own feet, and if *Anwar
To build something for tourist attraction is good idea, however maintenance must be in place so that it will not be another white elephant.
Toilet facilities also an important standard to keep.
So sad that the facilities in most tourist places is questionable not to mention that we need to pay to keep it clean.
Most develop country did not charge for toilet fee (Relate back to our High income salary country policy..)
Not to mention that the airport toilet in the International Kota Kinabalu (brand new airport) is in sad condition (water clog, wet n slippery, door broken).
Airport is entry point of a country…! Judgement will be what then seeing all this thing.
Spend so much money to build somethng but end up rooting due to no proper maintenance or building on cheaper cost than actual quotation?

Yes we did hear about Datuk Mokhzani flying in by private jet, thanks for sending him but not to worry, we gather channels and wings are on to it – banyak GDP tu! Tak payah risau potential conflicts of interest kot – with the socio-enviro-economic evaluation processes and solutions that we have, the numbers shall speak for themselves …
Kita dah berlayar – we’re back to the good old days where we try to read your mind Ayahanda Tun! Aruah TS Azizan was ultra good at it that we saw …
Baru nak sound kat ZICO jomlah berlayar – politik buang masa. BN dah sure menang punya (dah business and development plans semua pada kita …!) Banyak law nak kena tukar ni, ZICO! Btw how come their ISA candle is “lighted” and not “lit”? Sudahlah. We know why it’s needed, even the West getting back to it.
Alternative hypotheses to so-called nepotism and cronyism is probably going to be supported by the Web 2.0 initiative – who does not try to go with people in the inner circle who have the rapport -except in the past people are scared of getting their friends and relatives into trouble. I know some Masters of Elusiveness in PETRONAS and EPU (belajar dari Ayahanda Tun, agak) – we can tell a long story and at the end of it when they get back to office they realise it is all publicly available information … I digress. I mean – when we are looking for people to help us do the work, who do we go to first? People whom we know and we can trust to get it done properly. Sometimes we go to relatives because there is NOWHERE they can run! And amongst friends that we value long-term friendships. So with new kids on the block, it’s networking I guess.
We’ve learnt not to “use” our friendships for other peoples’ gains -how often can one ask a favour? So we’re being taught that instead of asking for others, we have to ask for ourselves, and that means whether we like it or not, we have to find targets for RTO … and we gotta do them faster.
A US blogger wanted to give us gold. Need more support on Global Green Master Plan though.
http://hypsithermal.wordpress.com/2010/01/12/government-global-warming-promises-turn-fatal-in-miami/
Btw Ops MINDA dah masuk Phase II – dah kena mintak tolong boss2 lama sebab kami belum habis turun ilmu … cv diaorg pun bukan calang2, so nak kena formulate how we are going to work together – slow2 nak kena settle yang terdekat baru radiate ke PSDC revival … not yet the appointed time, agak. Sebab Gutsy Sailor kata, kalau kami tulis buku, siapa nak baca? George Bush Snr dah keluar buku memoirs on his decisions and regrets – 200,000 beli hari pertama!
Salah silap harap dimaafi.
Salaam (greenpeace).
Assalamu Alaikum Tun,
We need govt commitment in transforming Labuan into a tourist popular destination. Previously every people says you can buy goods with ceaper price in Labuan but now a days many Labuaness instead come to the mainland for shopping..bring back Labuan specialties..to encourage people from the mainland to visit the island…
Assalamualaikum.
Selamat Hari Raya AidilAdha.
Salam Tun.. I like your idea of making Labuan a Garden Island..I would just like to add that it should be a “Seafood Garden Island” where people don’t just enjoy the scenery but travel half the globe for our amazing fresh seafood…. adding to that we could also have an annual seafood fest where all the best Chef’s in the world come to Labuan for the “Malaysian Golden Seafood Chef Award” whereby they compete and strive to deliver the best seafood cuisine from Malaysian waters to the dining table and satisfy the world most renown food critics such as Chef Bordaine…Chef Jamie… and the like….
Salam YABhg. Tun,
Yes and agreed, to all of the above, Sir.
As per usual my opinions on almost if not all, of your opinions, Sir.
:-))
Take good care, Tun & Selamat Menyambut Aidil Adha untuk Tun & Family.
Dearest YAB Tun,
This is what we call CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE. In addition to being analytical, Tun is also very creative. Most of our current leaders (almost all) are not creative at all. Creativity creates money.
Thanks Tun.
** May Allah SWT bless Tun & family **
The need for such Tourist hot spot such as Buchart Garden is in no doubt crucial for tourism industry.
Malaysia is rich with her variety of floras and faunas all around which some of them are in other countries. Investing, developing and presenting these our own natural resources will attract more tourist into these country And especially for Labuan. The landscape must therefore be decorated in way that impress people in its uniqueness of Malaysia wildlife and projects tranquility from the natural landscaping architecture. For the governement, they should foresee this potential and had invesment in it. For us the citizen, it is our duty to support and market the product of our country for cumulativr benefit.
Thanks Tun
Dear Tun,
I never been there, but I do hope to be there someday. Reading your post makes me interested to be there, does Labuan could offer the same with Langkawi had offered?
YABhg Tun,
I bought my adidas shoes in Labuan during the 80’s and back then…you can’t get them in KL.
Indeed Tun, Labuan is an asset but all the time we overlooked at it. It is great that you could highlight it.
Ya Tun, saya setuju.
Sebagusnya sesuatu yg nak ditunjukkan pada pelancung tu perlu original, bukan tiru konsep tempat lain.
Dan rasanya kita tak perlu sampai RM5 billion utk majukan Labuan. Tak perlu hab hiburan utk pelancung ni semua. mereka datang utk menikmati keindahan alam kita. Nak minum sikit-sikit tu kat hotel dah ada, cukuplah.
Salam hormat Tun,
You have shown us again that we cannot be contented and always move forward. Moving forward does not mean detroying the environment or the people moral values. Ideas must always keep flowing. Malaysians must be proud to have a leader who never stop contributing ideas for better of the country. I have an idea too, maybe you can suggest to Proton to develop and manufacture a car for taxis. It must be spacious like the Toyota Crown and economical to maintain. Wassalam.
