1. Thousands of its soldiers and civilians have been killed.

3. Ukrainian cities and towns have been razed to the ground.

4. All because of wanting to join NATO.

5. Russia warned Ukraine not to join.

6. It may be invaded by Russia.

7. Not to worry.

8. NATO will defend Ukraine.

9. But only if Ukraine is a member of NATO.

10. So when Russia pre-emptively attacks Ukraine, the poor country not being a member of NATO had to fight the war by itself.

11. The likelihood is Ukraine will lose the war. But the whole country and the people would be devastated for nothing.

12. Russia is a big power. It is not going to accept defeat.

13. Poor Ukraine will become poorer.
